[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
(edited by Delta.2093)
Already answered the questions, just adding these:
Skill lag happens at any FPS – and while improving the code to get better FPS on low-end machines it’s good, keeping skill lag under 1 second is essential. FPS can be a problem too, but this is about skill lag — which occurs at any FPS.
Also Skill Lag was better about a month ago – since code improvements were announced, things get better and better, than drastically fallen back (around the Save 1200 Lion’s Arch citizen patch) to almost pre-optimizations values. This should give a clue, to look at what changed at that time, code or hardware (or both). Lag was still there, it’s a bit “normal” to have it in major clashes – but you already demonstrated that this can be kept under 1 seconds (in up to 200 player on map fights), and falling back resulted in so much lag reports, since over 3 seconds skill lag mostly will kill you, it’s unplayable.
EDIT: I have a “high-end PC”, but those on low-end will have a huge FPS drop too in major clashes, and their PC may not respond properly under those conditions. They may see this as “skill lag” too (it is for them), but that’s different case. Not everyone is expert here, that’s fine, but those who know, can separate the “button press sent” and “waiting for the server to answer” (aka skill button it’s in flashing mode), even on 60+ FPS, and “server response arrived in 3-4 seconds later” – vs. the “my FPS dropped to 1 FPS or less…” and “can’t control anything, anymore” (including healing or dodging).
(edited by Delta.2093)
“Dueling” someone (even if limited to your friend list), with the duel ending at being downed (or sooner, being possible to “give up”, all friendly mode), would be useful: to learn your class better, facing other classes too, test builds and so on. (Not for boasting, that’s for competitive PvP)
We could even have our most skilled players teach new players and help a lot in raising skill level for everyone. Nothing hostile, just like between a master and student – or duelists sharing, like in Martial Arts schools or other medieval trainers (sword mastery, archery, …)
Have to avoid making this a tool for harrasing others on PvE maps. Limited to friends list it’s fine, since you can remove that player from that list if needed.
Not having it at all feels like the game is missing something important – leveling to 80 means not much. A few hours of lessons from a good player in that class would teach you far more. Just keep it optional, so everyone can relax.
Post here about lag (read first post):
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Looking-for-info-on-lag-in-WvW
And it’s true, lag is the same on all 3 servers (most likely), but I can confirm only the JQ side. Let’s hope they will do something – add more maps and limit player numbers to something the servers can handle, or improve server side code or… anything.
…
1. Skill lag only
2. Jade Quarry, NA
3. No
4. No
5. Skill Lag usually starts to become huge issue if all 3 servers have 40+ and they collide, or our ~30 clashes with a ~80 blob.
Seems that the servers can’t handle more than 120 players fighting each other at once (40+40+40 or 40vs80)
In under 120 players clashes, skill lag usually is ~1 seconds or less, over that goes to 2-3 seconds or more (and even fails to activate, gives only flashing button animation)
Coming back after a long time not playing, may give you the impression that everything it’s just roses here… or not that bad. That’s true to a point, especially compared to other games – because most are even worse. But the WvW of GW2 has a long list of expected changes, that makes the experience more bitter each day. Anet is silent, or makes promises, and then doesn’t keep us updated on the progress made towards those – account bound wxp and the commander system improving would be two examples, but there are still the skill lag that becomes worse after Living Story PvE updates, hackers and grievers doing the same thing as ever and seemingly being ignored, long list of bugs, the need of reworking the PPT system or replacing with a better one, keeping WvW fresh and improved as the only end-game that most WvW players are interested in GW2.
Just play it for a while, and then you can see that we don’t hate Anet or crying about how bad this game it is — it’s not, just frustrating parts become more and more so, as time goes on, especially with nothing to look forward to.
Anet could even ask us to pay for a WvW focused expansion, where those who pay will get extra features, and the rest will get it for free – if they would want to focus on those things that are expected by most of us. If not, we will do what we can, still have fun from time to time, and then being frustrated again, because that always comes back and destroys the fun part.
Depends on your preferred playstyle and build.
The important thing is to find the one that works best for you. You will be more effective that way.
.
I agree with this. Asking others opinion it’s not bad, but never follow somebody’s build and never try to copy what they do – instead learn from each, and build something that fits you and the situations where you use them most. Be open, and always fine tune your build and the way you play – both. Always adapt, never cry about anything being “overpowered”. There is no one meta solution that rules all. Use the wiki and read everything possible about every detail of your class, and try out all, before reaching any temporary conclusions (keep it always “temporary”, open to improve it). Never just accept somebody’s advice, because all that depends on your limits and abilities a lot. Also on what you enjoy, you alone. This is not just GW2 related, it’s the basic of becoming better in anything. Necro and Ele, for example, each can give combinations that the other can’t – with upside and downside included to choosing one or the other. Find the one that fits you better (other classes included).
Amazing, just do it, so much hate leveling alts, because if done in WvW I hurt my server (very hard to not to, and still gain XP), and I can’t play anything else than WvW, sorry, just can’t. Voted for, click on OP post +1 (not sure if anyone reads these threads anyway, but let’s hope)
I’m not sure, but dueling is missing from sPvP too. How about having a grand championship of duelists, the winner qualifies to next round and the champion receives… something, the title of Duelist Champion for a week.
Also an Obsidian Sanctum version of Dueling Championship too (sPvP gear and balance are a bit of another game).
I don’t care for titles or boasting, but I would still play it a bit maybe, just to learn and improve – we all can improve. Fighting together with randoms who… (let’s not go into this, it’s so bad sometimes) it’s one of the reasons that many avoid sPvP mode. Also those who want to duel and end up chasing you in WvW (“roaming” after you, haha)… not good.
But we have “Living Story”. Nice. (Not my thing though…) It’s just funny that we have so many things in GW2 about which we don’t care at all, and those parts that we care, are so ignored. Yeah, I know, we are in the wrong game then. Target audience is not us. Got it. Sorry for bothering, just saying hello. Right, won’t do it again. (Why that much anger, lol)
A promise it’s a promise.

“We want to get this change out to everyone in a timely manner, but it’s a complicated change that we want to test thoroughly before releasing.”
OK, test it thoroughly. Very, very thoroughly.
Just… you know, it’s 15th March 2014 — more than 3 months passed…
I just want to hide my wxp “rank”, just make it something modest, like “JQ Nobody [TAG]”. That rank can’t show how skilled you are, and even then, you can kill me if I eat during that time. It’s a bit harder to fight back using just one hand. Or if I’m tired stopping to face “roamers” (very annoying, if you have to reach something). I don’t care at all of dying or being “good” just for the sake of “boasting”. Very silly and childish. That wxp “rank” just shows how many time you spent in WvW, doing… nothing special. The only thing I feel for my rank is shame, and I’m glad that at least my server can’t see it. (It’s about 400 or higher, and lower on alts, and I’m not to blame for having that, just happens, you can’t decrease it… once received, you’ve got stuck with that, unless creating a new account, and then have fun leveling again)
This is what happens, and the maps are less and less populated. Where are those times when we chased the one who carried the orb? Where are … many things. Many fun moments and sweet memories… GW2 gave us a fun and highly addictive WvW, but it was the people who played it, that made it feel alive.
Goodbye and thanks for playing with us.
The empty maps are sad now… Sometimes they are full again, and it’s amazing…
/kneel
Anet, send this prayer to those who can bring needed changes:
“Please, keep WvW alive”
No, the term of overnight is completely wrong. If you want to address coverage, then adress that. Every time a server has less active WvW players on that map, this should kick in and affect outcomes, and beware of those who will intentionally manipulate this, and leave the map.
Also if PPT is removed/ignored, then why to fight: for loot and “fun”? The sole reason I start GW2 is to help my servers PPT. Nothing else.
But: taking empty, undefended objectives (because there’s not enough coverage at that time) is bad gameplay. Receiving PPT for just having empty objectives – bad game design. At least don’t give any PPT for any objective taken, until was held for at least 15 minutes or so, and place a minimum number of players required to defend it, or the NPC’s at that objective will “rebel” and turns white.
Or make bloodlust stomp the only source of PPT – this eliminates receiving PPT if you don’t have enemies. Or combine both ideeas, and this will split zergs, since every keep needs at least 10 players to hold it, towers 7, camps 3.
But then think about how much fun will be to stay in a keep, doing… what? Watching TV? Want me to invent a fun WvW or what? If I would be the one who decides the fate of WvW, I would think about, and try things, and ask players and listen to ideeas – some would improve, some not. But I’m not, and no matter what we post here, nobody cares at all – at least not those who have the power to change.
I would like to suggest that both a rank would be required as well as removing the gold cost, and adding a harsh badges of honor cost.
Then we will end up with even less players with commander tag, unless the title becomes account wide (alts included), with wxp account wide too (will be in “future”).
It seems that you are playing on servers and timezones when there are too many commanders present and they all fight over who to lead – which is silly (aka childish) at least. In these cases, with the actual system, go close to the commander you want to follow, right click on the character icon and select “Join Squad”. This will hide all other commanders tags. You can’t and should not force others to choose the same person. It’s up to every server to build up a friendly and cooperative community.
We can’t propose anything to filter out incompetent players; except maybe requiring a commander academy diploma… Wxp means nothing, badges mean nothing — and will filter out good leaders on new alts.
On most servers, at the moment, in a lot of timezones, the problem is rather that nobody wants or can lead, no tags at all… and less, when there are too many “commanders” present. Any change should take into consideration the impact on these periods too.
These discussions, especially when leads to fighting over “power” in map chat, makes many people to hate tagging up, and leaves a bitter taste in everyone involved. Commanders are hated even when they work hard and make the right choices — because there is always somebody smarter, who wants either to focus on attack, or defending a tower, and both is not possible. This is what leaves you sooner or later without any tags. And thus we should encourage everyone to buy a tag and at least try to lead, and see how hard it its… and servers which supports new players and helps them to grow, having a nice time together… instead of fighting over who should be “the boss”.
In short: give new commanders a chance to prove themselves. If they fail, nobody will follow them (this is mostly bad, because sooner or later they would be useful, when nobody else can or willing to lead)
More to this: the current wxp WvW “rank” has nothing to do with someone’s ability to lead or the knowledge of the WvW game mode. You just have to create a new level 1 character, go to WvW and follow a “zerg”. Every time a sentry is killed or tower taken or similar happens, you just have to be insided that circle, and there is the source of your “rank”. This can be increased even faster when the game is in a “karma train” or “pvdoor mode”, and only shows how many time you spent doing this […]
This doesn’t mean that every player got to current “rank” this way, but unfortunately at least a part of our “rank” is from such shameful sources…
We already proposed enough ideeas related to the commander tag (see a previous CDI), and nothing was implemented yet… we need the ability to hide the tag from non-squad members or non-guild members and so on, including choosing different colors.
Also the option for each of us to ignore certain commander tags (for various reasons, like troll commanders and grievers) and keep it hidden from our sight (temporarily or permanent).
(edited by Delta.2093)
Farewell dear TW foe, you will be missed on the battlefields and sadly you are just one of those who are no longer in this game, leaving WvW more empty.
Greetings to TW for all those intense battles. We could not express much of this in the game; apparently there is just killing and looting — but that’s very far from what we value most: a worthy enemy, both in bravery and skills, which rewards us with fights that we remember for a long time. May you walk in sunshine. /respect
Please add this guild too: SR (towards the end of list, as it is sorted by timezones) to Jade Quarry. Should look like this now:
SF/WvW/SG/PR/DI/KA/NS/HzH/EMP/CoF/DA/Vale/MERC/FOO/ATM/SoX/XPK/Ge/NoaH/SR
As I mentioned above, my list will miss a few or include those that shouldn’t be there, and only the guilds themselves can have a final word on that. Please feel free to correct me.
These guilds are active on Jade Quarry:
SF/SG/PR/DI/KA/NS/HzH/EMP/BPA/CoF/DA/Vale/MERC/TKG/FOO/ATM/SoX/XPK/Ge/NoaH
Listed aprox. by timezone, from NA > OCX > SEA > EU
Some of these are just small havoc, and some guilds may be missing from the list. These guilds are WvW exclusive or just PvX.
Wvw is fine. We are playing it inside Eotm.
Which “World” vs. what? Your color “Badlands” “allies” vs. that way ahead (5 mins or so walking that way… yes, one way route) other color blob to kill, faster if possible, before the few hours timer expires? It’s something, but don’t use WvWvW for that, because it’s a different game mode… Not bad, but not exactly DAoC RvR either, and… not the WvW we asked for. (The OP asks about the WvW game mode, the EotM it’s not about my server, world, realm vs. yours – but the colors of nobody specific; have fun in fighting for that… I won’t, I can’t enjoy that, sorry.)
It’s really up to how skilled is a player on a class. If you are not good enough on that class, don’t even think that you will do better just because of that cdr tag.
Then also is the question that what kind of squad you will lead?
Usual random “PUG’s” mostly expect that a commander won’t die easily, doesn’t move quicker than them (waiting for them to catch up during fight too and moves in a predictable pattern) — so a very tanky, survival focused build & class is best for that (squishy ones not so much, including warriors, and don’t forget active defenses, as gear is the less important part of the equation).
For an offensive commander, or a fast striking squad, with followers accustomed to the commanders usual reactions, any class will do – IF the commander masters that class. Nothing is more inspiring than having a very skilled fighting player upfront, who just goes deep into the clash and leads by example. There are many examples of exceptional commanders on thief, dagger/dagger ele, and so on. Every class have strengths, and those who master it, are no longer limited to stereotypes.
If you are not good enough on a class, then class doesn’t matter, you will be a bad commander, at least as the fighting part goes. Leadership and understanding are still needed, so your followers may forgive your unskilled fighting, and revive you — or not, who knows…
It seems that they didn’t expect that WvW will be so much liked that will become the main game mode for a large part of their players. GW2 servers were not planned out around a 24/24h WvW game mode, splitting the player base between EU and NA become a major problem. Also counting players that never or very rarely play WvW into server population numbers, shows that WvW was never considered the main game mode. This is a mainly PvE game, or heavily focused on PvE, the sPvP and WvW are just secondary — sad for WvW players, but true.
Unless they redesign this completely, starting with servers — or create a WvW focused expansion, the current PPT and World based fighting “for your own world, realm, server” will suffer (and slowly die, numbers continuosly dropping, that’s not news anymore).
EotM is not WvW, it’s color vs. color maybe. I won’t play that ever, and many feel the same – I play only for my realm, never for bags or killing or my own glory… That means that even less players will remain, but at least for those who like it, will be less frustration.
The fault is partly ours, because we took WvW for something that is not – a RvR type game. At least is not focused on that, build around that. But we had no other game, so GW2 was what it was, with great fun sometimes. Now we slowly start to say goodbye, looking forward to meet again one day and clash under RvR banners. Thanks for the fights PvP hearts, don’t give up your dreams, hope never dies!
This is not a new issue, but seems that it’s not something they can spend time on…
Not sure if the developers have anything to do with this, but whoever owns this bussiness and makes decisions, let down many WvW players: no answers, no solutions, nothing changed since beta in a huge number of areas that were continuously asked for.
I enjoyed many good hours in WvW, and will remember those.
Quote of my very old view on this:
“This claiming it’s a very ugly part of GW2, bad design and continually ignored. Those who play WvW and care about their team, knows it, but are powerless and only Anet can solve it.
A previous post about this problem, buried here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Claiming-Towers-to-avoid-buffs-griefing
and my very old warning relating to this, moved to “suggestions” and forgot there:

Where do you draw the line between “sabotage” and “that person isn’t playing exactly how I want them to play”?
We have/had players taking golems from Garrison and “suiciding” them, by jumping down towards the water gate. It’s not accidental, but intended. When these things happen repeatedly – those players become “known”. This case is similar, I just avoid using names here, because we need game changes, to prevent these happening.
Or Anet can just stay silent and let these “freedoms” continue. The game will be still played by those who don’t care about these minor details, and have great fun focusing on other things. These sad parts are here in case somebody cares and can help, like a prayer to heavens
Since it doesn’t stop anyone from ordering upgrades.. and that you’ve been holding garrison for 3 days straight even without any guild claimant buffs.. what exactly is the problem?
Seems like OP is just sore about not being able to put his/her guild emblem on the wall.
The Garrison is under heavy attack in certain hours, we are outnumbered, and every little bit would help – like the +10% player health buff, and others (they seem minor, but keep upgrades are similar, and they add up and can make a difference). We have guilds who could claim it, but it’s not possible. I’d like to see a server emblem instead of a guild emblem on the flag, or nothing at all. When it’s an unupgraded objective, or defended by the guild who claimed it, then doesn’t matter which buffs are enabled, but this is not like that.
It’s about caring or not at all, and even sabotaging your “teammates”, and they can’t stop you… This can be understood only by those who are trying to help their team, not just spend some random killing time on the WvW map.
It’s about three days now that the Garrison was “claimed”. No buffs, no way to remove claim… and it’s not only the Garrison.
Anet – it’s time to act. It’s a bit late, and you know about those who buy accounts just to kill golems, waste supply, insult in map chat… and so on. This is your community, your values expressed in game design and actions. These acts are despicable and only you can solve them – we can’t.
I can kill alone the SM, keep and tower lords and NPC’s – why to share the rewards? Is this the end of WvW as a team game?
WvW is already slowly dying, day by day. Less and less people play, and the loot always was poor – make the loot/rewards even worse, so WvW players will have to PvE even more for gear?
When the game is in “karma train” mode, then usually it’s nothing to do there… game over. Remove the karma train too, and we can uninstall it as well.
It’s not just that extremely annoying Living Story and Personal Story UI elements – but anything should be customizable – like on/off, position on the screen or allow to drag (like the minimap) and their size/scale.
The current UI is perfect for those who like it, and for everyone else: there are options to change it, as you like it.
So I was just doing some research and after I use this rune for quiet some time I now had to find out the bonus does not even work -.-
But guess what, that seems not to be enough:
& this topic nearly a month agoAll those living story and other “useless” content but no major bugfixes?
And there is not even a statement…
Yes, long live the “Living Story” content, let’s rejoice! Not really… I just get kicked from WvW because some krait non-sense. Very happy about that. Then I was so stupid to buy something without first searching. It’s my fault only. But then I found out that this is bugged since… who knows?
[…]
Superior Rune of Strength – still broken… How long will take? More than 5 months now that this was reported here – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Rune-of-Strength-Bug
The sole reason for claiming an objective is to provide buffs. No buffs needed – then DON’T claim it. You don’t have buffs to provide? Then let others claim it. Nobody have buffs? Then keep it unclaimed. DON’T prevent others to claim it… Is this so hard to understand? Of course it is – because you don’t care of anything else, just to have your bloody logo there. I’d like to be able to express how much I hate your kind"; those who “care” about their team.
“a game that involve persistent, dynamic content” – this game it’s as it is… and we can try to enjoy it or play something else. If this “train” is dispersed by randomization or whatever – the fun is over, for those who had fun enjoying it together. Less annoyance for those who were annoyed – that’s true too. What Anet can do? Look at the reasons of why one side enjoy it and the other is annoyed and side with one of them or both, and make this game be what you wish to be. We will enjoy it or not, play it or play something else – and life will go on.
Making it more difficult it’s not something that will scare me at all; if I can’t defeat it, who can? Not that I’m the best, just many players are… new, and have to learn. Make it impossible difficult and see above… It’s just a game. Let’s enjoy it and enjoy each others above all. Only that really matters.
That’s still very subjective and in no way a system any administrator should take notice of.
If a large group of players, let’s say a guild, starts -1’ing a player because he just happens to be in the same spot as the guild is doing their missions, how representative would that be? The poor guy could be at -150 without ever doing anything wrong or mean.
I don’t trust the community with such power to be honest.
That’s why I wrote “This should be a warning sign for Anet to check accounts with very high negative votes and see why.” That player should be observed – including chat logs and so on, because “bad” people never change, they continue to live in their own way: hurting others and enjoying that.
As for me, I could see for myself that I annoyed some people (sometimes you can’t avoid that, but feeling sorry for those or enjoying it it’s not the same), and also that I was helpful sometimes – and that means a lot.
If it’s hidden, then nobody would do “good” just to be praised, but because… no reason needed for that. And Anet it’s wise enough to know that making a mistake it’s not the same as being the source of evil all the times.
(edited by Delta.2093)
There’s nothing to fix there.
This is an MMO, players working together – killing a champ alone it’s for singleplayer games, not a group effort. Or you think they do that for getting rich? Just try it and see for yourself.
These “trains” are formed only on servers where the community it’s nice enough and willing to share, wait for each other and enjoy playing together. It’s a sign of a healthy community and happy place. It’s not realistic? Of course it’s not, it’s meant to be? You want high level players out from low level areas?
The only problem here is grumpy and selfish people, who want to be alone in a multiplayer environment. Open your heart and find the joy of playing with others, that’s the greatest reward – loot is meaningless.
Exploration and imagination should accept your fellow players too, and try to be happy when others are, because they are real, and their happiness it’s more than just a game.
(edited by Delta.2093)
Good looking cloaks – not the GW1 style, but something like those from Skyrim, especially from mods, would add very much to the game, and they could be sold for gems. Even with clipping issues, until those are solved. This is a long awaited feature and Anet knows that, so just keep asking please – or you don’t want cloaks?
+1 to proposal, just keep it hidden
This should be hidden from other players – only the account owner and Anet support could view it, and should serve as a small tip about the players reputation: +27 players expressed gratitude towards your actions, -14 players were unhappy with…
This should be a warning sign for Anet to check accounts with very high negative votes and see why. Many people stop playing because of them. Also everyone who is blocked should have an additional negative value, maybe a -2.
Those with the high positive and very low negatives could be randomly rewarded for making this world a better place, but certainly they don’t need any rewards, because doing good is their joy and way of life, both in this game and in real life.
This claiming it’s a very ugly part of GW2, bad design and continually ignored. Those who play WvW and care about their team, knows it, but are powerless and only Anet can solve it.
A previous post about this problem, buried here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Claiming-Towers-to-avoid-buffs-griefing
and my very old warning relating to this, moved to “suggestions” and forgot there:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Claiming-objectives-promotes-hatred
WvW is lucky for now, because there’s no modern RvR type MMO alternative. So many of us are playing this game, even if every corner of it screams about PvE.
We are those who find it a waste of time to play against an AI, we want to play with humans and against humans, not for our own “glory” (sPvP rankings and such) – but for our team (guild, realm, world).
Yes, there are many players who do that and won’t allow you to add buffs, even if you ask nicely. You can’t report them either – nobody cares about “traitors” at Anet, this is a bitter pill to take everytime the objective comes under attack.
I already “proposed” a change, but nobody cares, not even those who participate in this forum…
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Claiming-objectives-promotes-hatred
You can see who claimed the objective using this site:
http://gw2tracker.net/wvw/map
This is a sad topic, because it’s a reason to divide the team – the team being the world, the server.
WvW is a team game. If individuals and guilds doesn’t cooperate – the team fails.
Claiming objectives it’s a huge temptation for egoistical behavior – let’s put my emblem there, I deserve it, we deserve it because … [add many “reasons” here].
It’s very bad, words cannot express this. A design flaw. GW2 removed hatred and encouraged cooperation with it’s “everyone receives his part of loot” from killings, but failed to do the same here.
Doesn’t matter how, but this needs to be solved, even completely removing this “feature” is better than keeping it this way. I submitted a proposal in WvW sections, which was then “properly” moved by moderators and burried and forgotten in the “Suggestions” subsection graveyard.
I don’t want to spend time in a game where my teammates simply doesn’t care, and they are proud to show that.
But that’s just me, or the others are wiser than to expect changes, because almost nobody supported this.
Go ahead then, and hate each other then. I’m completely helpless.
@Shadow – A time delay is very useful and needed, because a guild usually first claims the objective, then starts activating buffs (making sure that there is a reason to activate buffs = we already have an objective that needs it), so they are not activated and wasted because someone already claimed it. Activating buffs takes some clicks and time, each one is activated with a separate button, and there is also the possibility that some buffs are not ready and need to be speed up, so a reasonable time to do those clicks are needed – that’s why I proposed a 10 min or so delay.
A good alternative would be to start that 10 min timer even later, when the objective comes under real threat, because most buffs are not needed until then, but that would be harder or impossible to develop, as the current white and orange swords should be used, and those show up even where there’s no threat or when is too late.
@SleepingDragon: Very likely, most guilds in this game, couldn’t keep a major objective 24/24h, so claiming should mean only “giving buffs”, hopefully gaining the gratitude of the team for that, also having the guild emblem displayed and – something more needed to encourage spending influence points and time in this. Most servers have enough guilds to keep buffs constantly, on major objectives at least, they just need more rewards to do that. But the point here is not denying other guilds to enable buffs on an objective, by locking it to a guild which clearly doesn’t care about the team, and shows that “proudly”. It’s about guild vs team, and WvW is a team game, or should be, right?
Thank You for your answers, I posted this because I’m very sad to see those huge “we don’t care” signs, the banners of those guilds. This can be solved only by Anet, and they are too busy, so this will take many more sad hours, until hopefully this will change, and claiming won’t encourage infighting in a team, making people leave the game, with bitter feelings.
WvW has become an amazing part of GW2, and the only one that keeps me and a lot of people in this game. Huge Thank You to ArenaNet for their work and continued efforts!
Still, WvW has a lot of issues, improvements are badly needed and innovations are required. I would be happy to pay for a WvW focused expansion too.
Claiming objectives while not having/activating buffs; and by doing this preventing other guilds to claim, thus negatively affecting the team and creating tension – is one of the issues that needs to be solved, and we need Anet’s help in this. If people feels that nobody cares (like teammates and developers), and their efforts are in vain, they will leave the game – this already happening, and if WvW slowly dies, then GW2 will be less.
Claiming should work like this:
When an objective is claimed, the game should start a timer of 30 min (or 10 mins), and if in that time period the claiming guild have not activated at least the basic set of buffs – see details bellow – then the objective should become free, and ready to be claimed by another guild.
Also when buffs expire, another timer should start and then the objective should become free again.
The only difference it is, that if a guild claimed something, and didn’t activate buffs, then that guild should be denied the right to claim anything for 24 hrs; and if this was done more than 3 times in the past week, then “banned” from claiming for a longer period. All this is needed to prevent sabotage.
Guilds should also acquire bonus points based on claiming, whatever that bonus would be (something new or already existing, including those new guild bounty merit points), to encourage claiming.
The Guilds name, or at least initials should also be visible, or at least a way to determine it from the claiming NPC.
- “Basic” buffs -
For supply camps:
+5 Supply (this is bugged or intended, but most of the times the camp cannot be claimed until the indignation expires)
For towers, keeps and castle:
buffs, benefitting every builds:
+10% Player Health, +40 Vitality, +40 Toughness, +40 Power, +5 Supply
All these values and details are of course open to be adjusted and improved.
Please support this proposal, Thank You!
Guild Panel doesn’t work again – all this started 9 days ago, with the latest “Molten Facility” dungeon patch. Never before I had to wait with a non-functional Guild Panel.
I can’t join any guild, as the “Represent” button doesn’t work. And if later during the day or night starts working again, then there are other problems like not receiving any activated Guild bonuses or the Guild bank NPC (including the one in Divinity’s Reach) says that you are not in a Guild, and doesn’t allow to access items in Guild Bank.
I really start to hate all that “Living Story” content now.
Sad days in GW2…
+ Update after about a month: This problems was solved in less than a week, everything seems to work since then, so kudos to Anet!

All these happening in WvW, no ideea about other parts of the game (don’t like other parts) I asked other people about these and everyone had these new problems (started one month ago or so, probable with the “WvW” patch):
1. even if all party members are on the same map, but they are not close enough (like local chat distance), then their icon becomes black – very annoying new “feature”
2. sometimes, not always, when someone joins the party, their icon are not added, but they show up in blue party chat if they write something… have to leave party and join again to fix it
3. still cannot “kick” (should say remove) party members who left the party or logged out and forgot to leave party before
4. cannot right-click on friends list and choose “invite to party or join party” – even if both are on the same server – the only option is “report”. Why would I want to report a friend? For cheating? In that case no longer would be on the friends list, right?
So now we have to type in correctly the names in party menu to invite, which is not good enough in WvW… (don’t ask why)
The party menu is very poor, and now even worse than was before.
Is this a MMO or playing alone is the way to go? We need bigger parties too, like 10, not a bugged small one.
Yesterday I had the guild panel empty “bug” (or what was), luckily fixed, so a big Thank You!
I posted about that in bug sections, but also created a ticket in support.
To do that I used my ingame username and password, the same I use to log in to this site (you can see that I’m logged in, right?) lol
Sorry about this happening, I created this thread to avoid wasting even more of your time – because now the support team have to contact me about that ticket – because I can’t close it or mark it solved – because I can’t log in to:
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/
My Stuff / Support Log In
I get the error that my password is too long!
“The password you entered exceeds the maximum number of characters (20). Note that some characters are expanded upon submission which may cause the size limit to be exceeded.”
So please
1. close my ticket, helping the support team
2. allow longer passwords (see how long is allowed by the game, including that “some characters are expanded upon submission”)
Thank You very much
Quote from the mail received related to my ticket:
“Use this reference number for follow up: #130430-000788
A member of our support team will get back to you soon.
If you need to update your question and you already have an account, log in, click the My Stuff tab, and select the question to open and update it.”
P.S. – I could use the same password to create my ticket, but not to access it afterwards – so “Ask A Question” login accepts my pw, “My Stuff” login not

Looks like they fixed it somehow, all seems OK, except no influence was gained during this time, but I can live with that. Thank You ArenaNet!
Edit: I created a support ticket, #130430-000788, and now I can’t log in to mark it as solved because the page says “The password you entered exceeds the maximum number of characters (20)”… well, that’s my password, I used that to create the support ticket and so on. Very strange. Please mark my ticket as solved/closed for now, hopefully will stay solved

Hi guys.
Thanks for flagging the issue, this has been escalated to the tech team who will work to resolve it.
Thanks and apologies for the problem
This is what we got so far (it’s on page 2), they probable work only in US hours, so we have to wait. Thanks David for this
This looks like the “official” thread for this, so post here too, just in case:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Issues-with-the-Guild-System-Post-here/first
I’m very disappointed, a confirmation that everything will be restored would be nice.
Guild panel empty, no members, no influence, no upgrades, all tabs empty, alone in guild with no leader icon. The guild emblem looks right. Also the Guild tag doesn’t show up on character select screen, it’s empty []
ArenaNet, please edit the first post and explain us what you do in similar situations, what we can expect and when? Thank You!
