I ran the puzzle last night without any problem on Sanctum of Rall. There were some invaders at the end, but they weren’t camping, just hanging out or trying to get the chest themselves. I /wave’d and they didn’t attack until I tried to resurrect a nearby fallen ally – even then it was just one guy, he only stunned me then /disagree’d and left it at that, so I assumed the guy I was trying to revive deserved it, went on to get the kite and even the achievement for the first time.
The simplest way to change Arenanet’s policy is to not participate in the content they are trying to sell. If no one buys lottery tickets, no lottery tickets will be sold.
This happened to me a long time ago in Hoelbrak on my Norn Ranger. Not sure what causes it.
Walls are the best if you know how to actually use them.
Don’t buy lottery tickets. Any expenditure of your gems supports arenanet, but lottery tickets like wintersday chests are an extremely poor choice.
I was able to do it solo fairly simply as a level 80 necro.
This is all that happens when I use this skill in PVP. Please fix this.
Attended/Looted/Received
Mind you I attended on my level 11 Thief and got disconnected twice during the event. When I looted the chest I got pretty much nothing in terms of value, except the ancient karka shell and chest. I received a chest in the mail today and opened it with my level 80, receiving two exotics, two rares, and the karka stuff again, and I can confirm I’m happy even though I didn’t get a precursor.
My condolences to anyone who didn’t get a chest, you guys deserve it too.
Anyone else? Anyone at all?
I consider getting to the bottom of Rata Sum in one piece my personal achievement, and hell, that sure took a few tries.

Incredible! That IS an achievement, my friend.
I believe you can land on top of there if you jump from the walkway to the blue things down to the bottom.
But yes, jumping places is fun. Here’s a favorite of mine.
You’re making me miss the fountain already…
With all the recent controversy about content updates, maybe I can do something constructive and fun, and have a little thread on the REAL endgame content of Guild Wars 2 – Jumping!
Here’s a tricky number I’ve been working on for a bit, but finally figured out today.

Victory!
What’s the point of this, you might ask? Well, none, really. It’s not like walking up there is particularly hard. But in setting your own goals comes a personal satisfaction when you complete them, and in that vein I’d like to see the incredible jumps that the rest of you have accomplished, probably putting me to shame.
I politely ask Arenanet consider the use of runes and sigils in the actual crafting process of ascended armor and weaponry to actually determine their bonuses. As Ascended equipment will be top tier, and lacking a normal upgrade slot due to the Infusion system, using sigils and runes to craft Ascended equipment would help players keep their special bonuses (like removing conditions with shouts) and still keep runes and sigils relevant. This isn’t an issue with rings and backslot items since their upgrade components only ever provided stats to begin with, but it’s certainly a real concern with the new gear.
Easy Mode, did you complete the Hearts in the Heart of the Mist tutorial?
Your non-normal pronunciation doesn’t change what I said. The word “generally” wasn’t there by accident.
I’m also American, and your pronunciation is the non-normal one.
It’s still a ridiculously difficult jump as the point where I am in that picture is terrible footing and tends to make you slide back down. I’m -still- not sure this node placement was intended.
I actually JUST managed to get the node after I posted this, by using swiftness and cornerjumping from around where I took that picture. I landed on top of the node and was able to mine it.
Did you try to see if that whole area can be climbed from another side, and then just drop down from the top? In my experience, most rich veins are placed either in areas with a whole bunch or mobs, or in areas that you had to figure how to get to. If no other solution works, maybe it’s just a node placed in a wrong spot by the developers, but still, with the rich tag on it, I expect the location was on purpose and there is a clever solution on getting it.
Nah, there’s no path up from what I could find.
It’s only one area, but Dreamer’s Terrace has open houses with mushroom tables and chairs, and showers, and what have you.
Banks have never really needed a place to store their things. In Guild Wars 1 Xunlai chests magically transported their contents to a personalized chest in Kaineng, waiting for you to remove their contents. I imagine bankers in guild wars use a similar enchantment.
Achievement points are pointless even for bragging rights due to being able to earn them over and over again with dailies and monthlies.
You can already do this.
Go to the crafting vendor -> buy exotic recipes from the vendor -> craft exotic armor/weapons.
Go on, craft a set of Power, Vitality, and Toughness. Which recipe is this? You apparently have it.

I hardly knew him long enough for it to be an impact. Claw Island was a bit different, and really the entire height of the story. After that particular mission the quality of the story and the missions sunk tremendously, and the Guild Wars I knew and loved didn’t show up again until The Source of Orr.
Much more reasonable suggestion than gear inspection.
So, anyone who’s gone to the Infinity Coil in Mount Maelstrom might note it has six “zones”, each based off of a known dragon. Well, most of them, anyway.
Zone Black – Zhaitan
Zone Red – Primordius
Zone White – Jormag
Zone Violet – Kralkatorrik
Zone Blue (Unfinished) – Deep Sea Dragon
But in this reactor of dragon energy, there’s also Zone Green, a zone overrun by plantlife.
The implication is that there is a sixth force much like the elder dragons that the Inquest have discovered. And I can’t help but wonder if there’s some connection to the Sylvari, here. Of course, the Sylvari are immune to dragon corruption that we’ve seen, but they’re also very vulnerable to a specific form of corruption – falling to Nightmare.
Hmm… It makes you wonder, doesn’t it?
No inspections. The content is not difficult enough to justify excluding others from your PUGs because you don’t like their build.
When I see botters I train them on purpose. It’s fun.
I was disappointed in no events for Talk Like a Pirate Day, which was celebrated all throughout Tyria in Guild Wars 1. ESPECIALLY since New Lion’s Arch was founded by pirates, it would have been a grand opportunity to insert some new dialogue, or at the very least give off some random alcohol drops and increased doubloon drops.
…but no, sadly, no Talk Like a Pirate. Maybe next year.
My server is being dominated in WvW, and I overheard the Mist Warrior NPCs discussing it. I only caught the tail end of the discussion, but the implication seemed to be that if we lost the Mist War we would “lose everything we hold dear”.

Surprisingly a decent idea IF it was implemented well. Parts of your proposal has holes in it that would make this annoying rather than helpful.

Because it’s not a long term solution. Free world transfers will be nixed eventually in favor of guesting, and guesting specifically forbids quick switch for World vs World.
Guild Wars 1 had this, actually. I suspect the reason the sequel doesn’t is because resetting traits costs coin.
It’s a known bug that the reward is underleveled.
Allow me to clear up some misinformation in this topic.
GEMS (the raw materials you get from harvest various nodes, like Tiger Eye Pebbles or Ruby Crystals) can be applied to ANY piece of gear with an Unused Upgrade Slot.
JEWELS (the honed, upgraded versions created from a Gem and a Filigree) can only be applied to ACCESSORIES, RINGS, AMULETS, and BACK SLOTS with an Unused Upgrade Slot.
If I recall, that one is a fight against an unimpressed Hylek.
Every story in Guild Wars has you playing second fiddle to someone. In Prophecies it wasn’t as noticable, but Devona, Mhenlo, Aidan, Cynn and Eve were the ‘real’ main characters. In Factions the game was all about Togo. In Nightfall? Kormir takes the lead. Eye of the North focused on whatever story specific hero you had at the time between Ogden, Vekk, Gwenn and Jora.
I really hate to throw out the accusations here, but I don’t think Arenanet actually can write much of a story anymore without making you sit in the back seat of the car their newest hero is driving. Hopefully the next iterations of GW2’s story help the heroes feel like they’re actually important.
In fact, let me tell you what I would have loved to see in the story – a late game mission that’s profession dependant. As a necromancer you hear from an Orders agent who found a relic in the Temple of Grenth that could supposedly enhance the powers of those who control the undead. Cue you going to get that artifact and raising a group of minions that put Trahearne’s legion of flesh golems to shame.
Engineer? The Iron Legion pact members just had a squad of their tanks ripped apart by the Risen due to a critical design flaw in that model. You go and the NPC defend YOU while you go through the motions of utilizing the scrap left behind to build a warmachine you then drive through the ranks of the Risen like a hot knife through butter.
Just one group of missions like that would have made the story so much more memorable, really.
Alright, so there’s going to be a good bit of spoilers here, so hopefully I don’t main the tag here. Here’s the issue:
So my human’s backstory regret was that he never found his sister’s body. Of course this leads you to rescuing her from a centaur slave camp since she’s not dead, good times are had by all, etc.
Later down the line, waaay later in Orr, I find out my sister has joined the Vigil! Became a Crusader, even! And she’s all ‘hello!’ without so much as even discussing what a surprise this is. I joined the Order of Whispers, and I find myself wondering if I actually missed some story because I didn’t have my character join the vigil. On top of all this, she has a boyfriend with a dog who I apparently am supposed to know from somewhere? (I’m a noble, if that’s important).
I feel like I’ve missed out on a good chunk of story here, I don’t even know what to think of it. I would have really liked if Deb had sent me a letter or something letting me know she was joining the good fight. That would have been a bit more realistic. But I suppose there are too many story branches to just fabricate a letter for every possible scenario, huh? Overall it’s just… not that big of an issue, but it’s still a pretty big gaping chunk in my character’s personal life here.
What do you all think?
Grinding a single event is fine. Standing in front of a bridge with a large group of people and setting a macro to spam auto-attack to defend the bridge against a particular event whenever it pops up, then going off to eat snacks and whatever isn’t.
Why were you able to buy lemons in the first place? They’re account bound.
Perhaps this thread is about the Exquisite jewels? Check out the recipes sold by Master Jeweler.
No, it’s not. I can craft exquisite jewels just fine.
I had both the filigrees and orb in my inventory, sorry I didn’t mention that.
Edit: After a bit more research, my Orbs don’t have Crafting Material: Jeweler (400) like they should. Going off what an Arenanet developer said in a different post, that means they’re NOT in any discoverable recipes.
Thaaat’s a bit confusing.
(edited by DivineDragoonKain.7840)
Hi, all. I’ve recently hit 400 Jeweler and I’ve had a bit of a problem. Orichalcum Filigrees and Gemstone Orbs don’t show up in the discovery pane, so I can’t seem to discover Perfect Jewels. Not sure what the problem is entirely, and I WOULD play around with it some more, but I crafted an Exquisite Beryl Jewel with my materials (learning the recipe from the vendor) without realizing I’d need a lot more orichalcum and ecto to make that perfect amulet. I have a spare Coral Orb, and I know it’s not showing up in the discovery pane either.
Anyone care to shed some light on this, maybe?
Honestly bag slot expansions should never have been a thing, the bank should have just been bigger to begin with.
What game are you playing, OP? There’s a very large amount of sounds, both ambient and active, and even music.
Arenanet ruined one of the most interesting aspects of the game. No big surprise there, I suppose. Instead of implementing an intelligent nerf to cooking exploiters they used a heavy-handed method that leaves many recipes difficult or impossible to craft. Further consider that cooking items only last a half hour at most, that items have actually been REMOVED from people’s accounts without notice or reimbursement, and that this has all gone completely unmentioned in the patch notes and you have a complete disaster of an update.
No, allowing crafting from the bank is a very nice feature, but it doesn’t excuse what you did to Chefs. I wouldn’t be surprised if dyes were the real reason behind this stealth update.
