Any 1 use axe and mace as main hand?

I main Mace/Shield Greatsword and it’s the most fun I’ve ever had in this game. I love baiting out stun breaks with a shield bash or a level 1 skull crack, and then once all their stun breaks are on cooldown I hit them with the greatsword cripple and then land a level 3 skull crack + paralyzation sigil for a 4 second stun and drop them from full health to death with a hundred blades.

Opening the fight with the Mace counter attack reflection always results in something funny too. I once shot back a P/D Thief’s full pistol stealth attack and he melted instantly.

Will Berserker be superior to Warrior?

Genuine question, I’ve been looking for ways that Warrior is better than Berserker but I can’t seem to find any. Most of the other specializations are losing a profession mechanic to gain access to a new one, but Berserker seems to have both the regular F1 burst skills as well as the new F2 berserk mechanic.

Can somebody fill me in on how regular Warrior could still be useful compared to Berserker?

Which class is most faceroll?

Donut.6914

Warrior is the easiest and hardest class to play. At low skill level, Warrior gives you the most forgiveness with high health, high armor, high dps, and skills that are easy and straightforward. At high skill level, Warrior gives you no forgiveness since the skill ceiling is so low, you have to play perfectly in order to even stand a chance against a good player of another profession.

Mending not a physical?

in Warrior

Posted by: Donut.6914

Donut.6914

Yeah, I also found it kind of weird since they did change Surge into a Shout and made a couple of adjustements to it while Mending remains untouched.

Not just untouched, they actually nerfed Mending. It now only removes 2 condis instead of 3.

This makes me think that they were going to make it scale better with physical traits/endurance/adrenaline like they originally stated, so they nerfed the base skill to make it more of an investment with traits and stuff. However, it seems like they just gave up halfway through and decided to bail out on the whole idea, and now we’re left with a completely useless skill.

Mending: 20 sec 6k heal with 2 condis removed

Healing Surge/To The Limit: 26 sec 11k heal with 4 condis removed (shout runes + cleansing ire from adrenaline gain) AND endurance gain for allies

There is literally no reason to take Mending over To The Limit, even if you don’t factor traits into it.

Mending not a physical?

in Warrior

Posted by: Donut.6914

Donut.6914

When the guys were doing the Warrior livestream and talking about changes to physical, they said Mending would become a physical and adrenaline would make physicals more effective: such as Kick/Stomp hitting people further and further away based on adrenaline. Instead Mending got nerfed, isn’t a physical, and physicals just do more damage based on adrenaline?

There is no reason to use Mending now.

Ventari vs. Other Support

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Donut.6914

Donut.6914

I don’t have a problem with this honestly. Look at what you’re giving up as a Revenant by using a support build. You pretty much have to use staff, which is a huge kitten because it’s short ranged and it does no damage (and its your only weapon set) and then you have to use Ventari and Jalis, which once again do no damage and kitten you severely. Revenant is just going to be a very traditional version of support, sort of like an old school dedicated healer. Mostly heals with some protective buffs and condi removal. While every other class can spec into support through more interesting means (Guardian still destroys Revenant in terms of active support) and STILL do a ton of damage.

Heal Revs are going to be very useful as healbots in big team scenarios but in every other aspect of the game they’ll be useless. That’s the whole point of Ventari, he’s literally a pacifist, so a Heal Rev will only be useful when he can depend on his teammates.

Before you Nerf Healing Signet

in Warrior

Posted by: Donut.6914

Donut.6914

the passive does in fact need a nerf, but the active needs a buff to make it somewhat more viable. the fact that you can heal up so much per second takes the skill out of the class.

players have been crying fowl on the healing signet since they buffed it immensely and anet has been afraid to touch it ever since the feature pack. it needs this change to make the class more skill based. in large scale fights (e.g WvW zerg surfing) it is a relatively strong heal and its balanced out with all the damage you can take. however, while I’m not a fan of this games pvp the few times i’ve fought warriors they have been difficult to kill and regenerate hp at a some what fast rate almost mitigating my damage.

i would say drop the passives effect 25-75 points per second and increase the active by 1.5k – 2k just so the burst heal potential is good enough to merit using it in times of crisis.

They buffed the active heal and added “resistance” when you use it. Resistance makes you immune to condition damage. Pretty solid buff if you ask me.

Before you Nerf Healing Signet

in Warrior

Posted by: Donut.6914

Donut.6914

As a Warrior main since launch, your argument isn’t really that good. If sustain and passive regeneration is core mechanic of the Warrior class, then why is it only possible to get sustain from ONE SKILL and nothing else? If anything, Guardians have more sustain in their core mechanic because one of their profession mechanics is a regen over time.

Healing Signet is an overpowered crutch that requires literally no skill to be effective. By nerfing the sustain and buffing the active, they’re encouraging you to ACTUALLY USE your healing skill. They’re also buffing Mending and Healing Surge, so they’re encouraging build diversity as well.

Will Healing Power be improved?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Donut.6914

Donut.6914

So I did some thinking and I’ve come up with a suggestion for what it’s worth. Give a basic healing bar to every profession and put it above the health/stamina bar. This healing bar will build up a little bit every time you heal something. If you do a small heal like Altruistic Healing it will build 1%, and if you do a huge heal like Tome of Courage it will build something like 50% or more. The amount of percentage built up with each heal will be affected by healing power, so if you have 2000 healing power you’ll get 2% from a small heal instead of 1%.

At set intervals (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) burst healing skills will automatically activate, they will not be able to be stored like Warrior burst skills. This will encourage you to actively manage your healing cooldowns so you can build up to an interval and get a burst of healing when you need it.

I’m focusing on burst heals because much of PvE content, and general content throughout the game is built around heavy damage. Slow regen over time in PvE is not very useful when one attack from an enemy can take you from 100% HP to 30%. With a system that encourages you to heal a huge amount at once rather than over time, it becomes much more useful keeping yourself and teammates alive.

The biggest drawback to this comes from the imbalance of healing abilities between professions. Guardian and Elementalist would be straight up broken and completely superior to a class like Necro with this system. As a result I suggest adding traits to each profession’s support line that will give profession specific effects to the burst abilities.

For example, a Necro trait could be “Reduce the amount of healing needed to charge up your healing meter. When your meter hits 100% you give spectral armor to yourself and allies in addition to your regular heal.”

I don’t think this would require too much of an overhaul. Healing power gear would still be useful to help build burst heals faster and more often, and it would scale much better with one big heal rather than little heals overtime. ANet already plans on adding a “break bar” to make CC useful, so I think this “healing bar” idea would be a good counterpart to make healing more useful.

Before this game launched, ANet’s goal for a holy trinity was Damage, Control, and Support. They’re trying to make control as useful as damage is, but support is still mostly left behind. An expansion is a good time to think over a change.

Will Healing Power be improved?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Donut.6914

Donut.6914

So with Heart of Thorns, ANet is significantly improving the function of CC with the break bar mechanic and the stacks of stability. CC still may not be as meta as DPS in PvE, but at least it will have solid value.

However, I haven’t heard any information on changes to healing power, or support in general. This stat has been near-useless since launch, and it scales so poorly that it’s almost never worth speccing into. Healing support as a whole is generally unimportant in this game, so I just want to ask: Are we going to see it improved somehow, to the point that I can run a heal spec without handicapping my party?

If not, I recommend scrapping it entirely, it doesn’t really fit into the game in its current state.

If you have any suggestions or ideas on how to make it better, post em here.

“The current warrior play-style is heavily defensive”

That’s because the meta is based on teamfights and controlling point nodes. The Warrior’s combination of burst+mobility is second only to the Thief.

That said, I wouldn’t mind seeing a Zaishen/Samurai type offensive specialization. I also like your idea of meditations being a new skill for Warriors, that fits pretty well. It could be sort of like an active buff, similar to an offensive version of Stances.

Rifle needs more love

in Warrior

Posted by: Donut.6914

Donut.6914

Get rid of the condition skills. All of them. Rifle should be pure DPS. Add some fury into one of the skills, make the 1-5 skills different in their execution (one shot fires so quickly it’s almost impossible to dodge, one fires rapidly, one bounces).

Lastly, give Kill Shot an ENORMOUS tell (like a cloud of smoke billowing up through the top of the rifle, or a huge laser sight being cast onto the target) and give it a ridiculous amount of damage. I’m talking instant KO on most targets. Rifle should be the weapon set version of Hundred Blades: high risk high reward.

When I fight a rifle warrior, I want to feel like he has a high powered sniper rifle aimed at my head, and if I don’t play the fight perfectly, I’m gonna get my brains blown out the back of my skull.

How -much- worse is mace/shield vs others?

in Warrior

Posted by: Donut.6914

Donut.6914

Mace/Shield is primarily CC and defense. It definitely has potential for damage, but not nearly enough damage as axe, greatsword, or even sword. This inherently makes it bad in PvE, since the only thing that matters in current PvE meta is damage.

However, that really only matters if you want to be a hardcore dungeon runner completing dungeons as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you just find a good group of people who don’t care what you use, Mace/Shield is fine. It offers ok damage and good utility/defense.

tl;dr Mace/Shield is not good in dungeons, but it doesn’t matter. Play what you want and enjoy the game.

P.S. Hammer isn’t good for dungeons either but I never stop using my hammer. I love using it and idc if it’s bad.

To the dummies in this thread who think Thieves don’t use magic: yes they absolutely do use magic. Shadow Arts, stealth, shadowstepping, etc are all magic. It states this in the game.

Either way, I highly doubt that Thief will get a melee staff, because datamining has shown that Revenant will be getting a melee staff. Combined with Guardian’s mid-range staff, there would be too much crossing over and the Thief staff wouldn’t feel unique.

Thieves are probably going to be getting some boring sniper rifle that I will never use.

World Transfer Costs

I spent literally hundreds of dollars trying to find a guild to raid with. This is a generous piece of cake in comparison.

Well that last MMO is ridiculous and you got unbelievably ripped off. Just because something is worse doesn’t mean that this isn’t bad.

OP, ANet has a lot of things on their checklist that they will never actually deliver on. And a change to world transfer isn’t even on their checklist, so there’s no way you’ll get anything different any time soon.
