That has very little to do with build/profession balance, if even at all.

It has everything to do with balance. Before I stopped playing, some builds were so overpowered that it didnt matter how well you could kite, or how smart you were. Because at the end of the day, a dragon hunter could hit you for 10k by pressing a single button. It doesn’t need to build adrenaline, it doesn’t need to find stealth and hit from behind, it doesn’t need to time 6 skills all at once. All it has to do is press 2. Before the patch, it would be possible to kite 3 guardians and beat them using terrain/smarts before they could overwhelm you. But post HoT, you’d be dead in 2 seconds. (sorry if im picking on dragon hunters, there were many other broken builds back then, its just the first one to come to mind)

It would be the same thing as saying that a skilled gladiator could beat 3 other gladiators in a fair arena fights, using swords, maces, shields etc. It would all come down to who’s the best combatant. But along comes a new expansion for the arena where people can now use uzi’s. Doesn’t matter how skilled with a blade that gladiator was. The uzi guy/guys are gonna win.

didn’t want to make another thread to clog up this forum with similar questions.

But how is the current 1v1 balance? Again post HoT it was pretty good. I mean sure there were a few builds that played themselves and needed to be buried and never spoken off again (PU condi mes, condi thief, cele ele etc). But After HoT it felt like there were so many builds that you really couldn’t lose when running, that it became sort of unplayable. Not to mention that to put yourself on somewhat of an even playing field, you HAD to run the new elite trait line.

Any thoughts, has the situation improved?

1v1 is severly declining. Lots of “roamers” are now groups of 3-5 to 10 ppl.

Build diversity has also severly declined. The builds you’re quoting have totally vanished from my game experience.

Now, about the elite traitline, I’m mixed feelings. Some months ago, I would have said it’s compulsory. Those last weeks, I’m seeing more and more core specs, so I suppose the meta is changing.

Just my 2 cents

Really? no more dire condi p/d thieves haha?
Im asking not because i expect people to solo roam, as that was rare even when I used to do it, im asking because back when builds were (somewhat) balanced around 1v1, a good roamer could pull off a 2v1 or 3v1 against somewhat competent players. But after 1v1 balance went out the window, it became essentially impossible to win outnumbered fights. a lone thief against 2 dragon hunters and a longbow ranger (post LB buff) i think not haha. Whilst pre HoT 2 guardians and a ranger was very possible to beat if you didn’t slip up.

I personally still see d/p venoms condi daredevils (and saw a ghost-ish venom DD as well…he didnt like having condis on him tho)

Can’t speak for the current meta, but back in the day, a venom DD thief had nothing on a shadow arts dire thief. So unless its alot worse than it was then im ok with it haha.

People still roam. It tends to be small group (2-5) mostly from what I see. It is fairly rare to run into single solo roamers unless stealth class (90% thief) or it is a player just getting activation credit between ticks at some random objective (typically focused on mobility).

WvW game is highly slanted towards condi builds right now with a couple of burst power builds from mes/thief/dh still out there but even they can be hybrid. HoT Resistance boon is strong because of it.

I think the roaming is more or less the same as before. DH longbow, Rev Hammer, Scrapper Hammer, Chrono boon share, Druid CA stealth, Berserker traits, stability pulse change was nerfed pretty hard. But on the same side, there is no longer Ghost Thief and by default Tempest, Reaper and condi Daredevil have gone up. Basically everyone runs the HoT Elite spec although there are a couple of contenders of base spec only versions in Guard (carried by Virtues line), Warrior (carried by Invulns/Resistance boon) and Necro (carried by Wells).

Seems that things haven’t really changed too much. You brought up another fact that I disliked about HOT. That being that in order to be viable in small/solo fights, you really need to be running a HOT traitline (daredevil scrapper etc). Which i feel really killed alot of unique and diverse builds that contributed to making roaming fun.

Guess ill give it a pass for another year or two then :/
or who knows, maybe ill get desperate and reinstall anyway haha.

Ill keep it short. Played this game for ages, was one of those people who liked to roam (small fights) or duel. However, after HOT came out it sort of ruined the small fights scheme. In the end all me and my friends were doing were was just running dragon hunters and one hitting everyone with 2. (we alternated with other broken builds too, but DH long bow has stuck in my mind even after all this time) There were plenty of broken builds before HOT but they seemed to be mainly condi focused, and while painful to fight 1v1, they could just be ignored. After HOT however a tonne of broken power based builds were revealed, and condi builds got to the point where they could in some instances out dps glass cannon builds. So in the end, my entire guild moved on from the game. However we’re never managed to find a game that was quite as fun and challenging as gw2 was pre HOT. So asking here to see if its worth reinstalling and giving it another whirl

So posing the question to any roamers who may or may not still play, is the balance still as bad as it was back then? Better worse?

Thxs

Stability vs. Confusion

in WvW

So, I hate the Mid-March, 2015 stability change. And here’s something that occurred to me.

Way back, confusion mesmers used to be really good.

This double standard is just beyond me.

Condi mesmer’s have ALWAYS <—————- been broken.

I mean seriously. I agree crowd control is a bit rampant atm, but comparing cc to the good old PU condi mesmer is… just…. wrong. haha

btw, have you played chrono condi lately? I went and tried it to see if its as overpowered as the old PU builds.

Its worse. By far the most forgiving build that I have ever played. On top of that it can outspike some burst classes in terms of damage. And its condi.

I wouldn’t mind if stab got buffed, as i play a teef, and never can use it anyway. But condi mes was a bad example. It needed a nerf back in the day. It needs a nerf now more than ever. I dont need to work for a win when im plaing condi chrono, no build should be able to hold a 3v1 against good players with ease. Particularly me, as I barely know how to play mes.

Sorry if that was ranty (it was) just a tad annoyed at how unbalanced the game is atm, and how players who haven’t gone #pay2win will always be at a disadvantage against elite specs.

He’s talking about Glamour confusion mesmer.

Confusion was broken regardless. Pu just kind of made it a joke
Yeah, my post went totally over your head.
Really? Thought your post was about the double standards between anet nerfing confusion by 50% and yet refusing to nerf CC. I thought you were comparing the current balance of CC to the previous Confusion balance of the past? Which is absurd as CC is currently not even half as powerful as confusion was before the nerf.

Feedback - 400 Hero Points per Elite spec

in WvW

Doug.4930

So from what I can tell, at 1 proof per rank and 5 proofs to a hero challenge (each worth 10 points), an elite specialization will require 200 WvW ranks and 6000 badges of honor.
Per character..?
kitten ..

Just do the PvE farm while getting drunk and hating yourself…it will be way faster.

^^ Thats my weekend all planned out then.

The worst part is that even if we can convince Anet to reduce the hero points needed, it will still probably be too much. I was having nightmare’s about 170 points.

I mean some of us have Jobs and families. How are we supposed to unlock this in a reasonable amount of time after paying for the expansions ahead of time? If I had known this was going to be introduced I would never have bought the expansion.

Youre talking about half mapping two whole zones of hero point challenges….Seriously this is too much for you?

In a word:

YES.

Honestly… if a couple hours of playtime is going to DESTROY YOUR LIFE maybe playing games just isn’t in the cards right now. Pick up a hobby that takes less time from your work/family.

No, its just mind numbingly dull to grind this many hero points to unlock a specialization that I payed for. I would be far less upset if Anet had of announced this ages ago. But the fact I’v been baited into paying for this expansion by Anet deliberately failing to release this info so that I can be locked behind a grind wall I was un-aware existed, has to say the least, annoyed me somewhat.

um Anet did announce the new changes coming 3+ months ago so players will have time to get HP’s done and be ready for the expansion. If you took the time to get them all done you would have just little over 200HP’s to spend once H.O.T goes live then you have do only half of HPC to get the rest.

As I’v stated previously, I assumed that there would be far less grinding.
In other words I assumed that the total hero points needed to unlock the new trait line would be something like 100 ish? It was only an hour or so ago that it was announced that It would be 400…….

I only ever intended to do this once for my thief. I feel truly sorry for players of my mindset that main multiple classes.

You’re telling me you want to rush through the map to find up to 40 hero challenges to fully unlock the elite? When you can only explore a map for the first time once.

Everyone plays the game for different reasons. I myself play this game for open world PvP (WvW roaming). That is the only aspect of this game I currently enjoy. Whilst I am glad you enjoy playing pve, I myself have no interest whatsoever in exploring the new map. I believe I only have like 30% map completion anyway despite having 4,300 hours of the game logged. I knew that I would have to take some time off enjoying the game to grind out my specializations. But 400…..??

Thats alot of pve content, and I am going to be detesting every second of it. I mean alot of people on this thread are saying they are gonna enjoy the content and take their time unlocking their specialization, and thats excellent I just wish Anet could have given us players a solution to get these hero points over with as quickly as possible.

Have you been to WvW before?

It will take months and months after release for an average WvW player to grind that many hero points. Depending on RNG.

Unless I am mistaken just to unlock half of the training line, we need 212 hero points?

It’s 400 points total to unlock everything in an elite spec training line – I just can’t remember off hand how many points folks have currently if they have done all the existing ones, but it’s right around 200. The rest you’ll need to earn in jungle to unlock the deeper skills/traits/etc. in the training line.

You only need 60 hero points to begin using your elite spec, the points you spend after that continue to unlock more skills, traits, skins, etc.

Again, hero challenges are worth 10 points each in the jungle. So no you don’t need to go do 200-400 jungle challenges.

Please some of us hate stepping foot in pve.

Please don’t make us grind so hard to unlock specializations so I can enjoy it in WvW.

I payed 100 bucks for the special edition to spend hours and hours grinding in WvW and pve?

Come on, even you guys that enjoy pve content have to admin this is a bit ludicrous.

Blah, no wonder the red names stay away.

Any single change results in mass protest.

Lack of change results in mass protest.

They can’t win.

While it is true that change will never make everyone happy, it is also true that extremely bad changes will make many people unhappy. This is an extremely bad change.

As far using this to justify why red names stay away, that is hardly fair. The very reason why people protest so much to begin with on an epic scale is that it is the only way to get them to pay attention to a game mode and community the continue to neglect.

So you’re justifying yelling and screaming as a means to get their attention?

Interesting.

Well seeing as it’s how many years into the development it is, and only now have Anet added anything to WvW. If kicking and screaming took this long to work, I shudder how long talking normaly would have taken.

WVW player VOTE for reset day [strawpoll]

in WvW

Posted by: Doug.4930

Doug.4930

Hello All,

There are a couple of reasons for the change to reset time. One is for the overall quality of the game. The last few years we have been careful to not disrupt the WvW reset time but this has at times made it difficult for our team to address issues during reset day. This change will give our team an extra day of the week that they can use to respond to issues that may occur with WvW or any other area of the game if it is necessary. In the early days we wanted reset to be during a weekday to ensure we had people available to monitor the game at reset time, but at this point we have seen the ongoing stability of World vs. World and resetting on a weekday is no longer necessary.

Another reason is the emergent gameplay that has come from reset. It has become one of the most exciting times for WvW and we would really love for more players to have the opportunity to experience it. We have many more players logging in on Saturday than on Friday which means with this change many more people will be available to experience the rush of claiming objectives for their world during reset.

However, given the concerns posted here we will be moving the Saturday reset to earlier in the day to give most players the majority of the day to enjoy the start of the new match. Immediately after launch the new time will be 11am PDT / 2pm EDT (6 pm UTC) for NA and 11am BST / 12 pm CEST (10 am UTC) for EU. Keep in mind that the following week with the end of Daylight Savings Time / Summer Time the reset times will be pushed even earlier to 10am PST/ 1pm EST and 10am GMT / 11am CET.

Thank you for your feedback. We realize that no time we pick is going to work for everyone but this change is going to benefit even more players overall while at the same time giving us a little more breathing room to improve the quality of the game during the week.

Thanks,
John

According to the vast majority of people indicated in this pole (77% at the time I am making this reply) this idea to change the reset time is clearly vastly un-popular. I could write an essay on why, but if you only read the replies on your thread this is quoted from, and the previous replies in this thread, everything has been said already.

People love playing during reset and in the few days following. Most poeple are able to play the most during the weekend, and thanks to this new change you’ve manage to cut the weekend in half. Essentially people (in America) are going to come home from work on a friday at the end of the week, and there will be no point playing in WvW due to it being dead at the end of the match up. This means Friday is essentially a wasted day for people in the US. For people Like me who are in the SEA timezone, its even worse, we miss out on Friday and Saturday without reset.

TL DR
Don’t change reset time, listen to the players. Please.

Show Sigil Cool Downs?

Not only sigil cooldowns, but I’d say show every hidden cooldown on the character, such as sigils, runes, and trait procs (WoW for instance has ability alerts).

Having no visual information on some of your own character abilities is pretty bad IMO.

This… definitely this.

It only makes sense, and is rather silly to not have it.

dev came in and asked how would u even expect this to be implemented in the interface.

For traits, that is pretty simple. In fact, you could kill two birds with one stone.

Have a small UI box at the edge of the screen (customizable so you can move and minimize it). It has 9 hexagons in a square (Tic-tac-toe style). Each hexagon represents a trait. From there, you can actually change traits by just clicking on a given hexagon. Also, each trait that does activate with a cooldown, give them a bright color, and the rest have dark colors. When the trait activates, grey it out and put a countdown clock over it just as skills have. When it is ready again, the bright color is returned.

The same can be had for runes and sigils. It may not be perfect, but it’s better than nothing.

Not sure how hard this would be to code into the game, but it would be amazing if something/anything along these lines could be introduced in the future.

Trapper Runes - Eternal Stealth.

Trapper runes are broken on pretty much any trap condi build at the moment. Obviously, they are especially broken on a thief. Fixing thief to make other builds more viable however will not stop people from playing these broken/overpowered thief builds. Some people just want to win end of story.

Although, reverting some of the recent changes to thief could bring a bit more diversity to thief builds at the moment…. *Cough acro… *Cough.

But all that being said, people will still run trapper condi thieves as long as they exist in the game. Personally, i think that they should never have changed the fact that traps reveal when they are triggered.

This would rock. Knowing when you can proc your sigils would be really helpful.

Would be great for setting up bursts.

Show Sigil Cool Downs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Doug.4930

Topic describes the thread, but essentially I think it would be a great addition if we were able to see if our different sigils were on or off cool down during a fight. For Instance: (skip to the last paragraph if you cant be bothered to read.)

I’m roaming around the eternal battlegrounds and I fancy a refreshing swim in the lake just around the corner from Durios. However just as Im at the water’s edge an enemy burn engineer leaps out from behind a shrub and attacks me. We exchange blows, however the engineer pulls out a flame thrower and lights me up like he’s snoop dog. However I have a cunning plan, I look down at my dagger. Little does this snoop dog wanna be realize Iv got a sigil of generosity equipped. I charge and lash out at the engineer to transfer all the burns >:D. But no!! The sigil must have been on cool down. I roast to the ground and the engineer whips his marshmallow’s and roasts the entire lot over my smoldering corpse.
THE END.

So yea essentially, it would be amazing if there was some kind of indicator that showed whether or not our sigils are on or off cool down. Maybe like a small image of the sigil next to food buffs/blood lust and other buffs etc? This could potentially allow players to be able to plan their bursts around weapon sigils.

Thoughts?

SM Mass stealth Fountain. Why Anet why?

I suppose we are ignoring the arguments that:

1: 2 minutes is a rather short time.
2: Stealth breaks when starting to fight.
3: A bunch of mesmers can already do the more or less the same thing as this, and clearly it haven’t been a major problem yet.

1: As many people who have commented will attest to, 2 minutes from SM is enough time to move an entire zerg to any point on the map undetected.
2: I assume you mean stealth breaks when you land an attack? In that case yes. Why a zerg that is trying to sneak up to a tower/keep etc would initiate combat whilst safely in stealth is beyond me in a PPT system.
3: No, they can’t. If you can post/make a video of around 5-6 mesmers stealthing 80 or more people for a complete and solid two minutes, I will concede this point.

After reading some of the replies that are say that this idea isn’t that bad, I can conclude that their argument consists of:

SM is constantly getting flipped, so the chances of this terrible idea coming into play is negligible.

Even if this Idea (at best) is only active for a tiny amount of the match up, lets say 3 hours per week. (Lets face it, it will be more than that)Thats 3 hours of abuse and boredom before SM is flipped again. Why put in an idea that in the best case scenario will still have a negative impact on the game…?

What’s the argument against it, other than the stronger server will potentially abuse it, and SM will never be flipped … which we all know isn’t true, regardless the tier (some have even flipped it solo)?

ANY combat is insta-reveal.

Stop letting it defeat you before you even try it.

As I said in my post, the idea wont make SM unflippable, it will simply make for poor and painful game play UNTIL it is flipped. In other words, while this upgrade is active for any given amount of time, it will have a negative effect on the environment in WvW. Whether a server retains this upgrade for 5 mins or a week is irrelevant. We’re either looking at either 5 minutes of pain, or a week of pain.

Why add a mechanic that most players are going to detest? Even if its rarely used?

Any Combat is Insta-reveal is incorrect. Only if the person in stealth attacks an enemy will they be revealed, which as I explained above would be illogical to the extreme in most cases.

Its less about letting it defeat me, and more about avoiding the virtually impossible slog needed to defeat it. For instance; a PU perplex condi mesmer is a terrible and broken build in a 1v1. However it can be defeated given the right circumstances. However it would be better for most players involved if it didn’t exist at all. Much like this stealth fountain.

I can’t be the only person who dreams of this happening! It would be so much easier to change builds and try new things out! and switching between a zerg set up to a roaming set up!

It will probably never happen but personally I think this would be my favourite QoL update if this did ever happen.

Personally, I love the build diversity that WvW offers, and would be very upset if it was simplified to the spvp setup.

However things like -+40% food buffs would not be missed, and dire gear is broken too so i wouldn’t miss that.

But other than a small amount of broken builds (most of which are condi) I do overall enjoy the diversity of builds iv come across in my roaming travels.

PS: Wouldn’t mind being rid of perplex either.

How can it encourage karma train if k-train doesn’t care about upgrading SM?

It’s a nice defense mechanic and I really like it. This keep is supposed to be the ultimate fortress, a giant castle with huge defense mechanics, and not to change its owner more often than a prostitute her customers.

Some of us here in WvW put Karma trains under the same banner/category as PPT try hards.

The karma train in normal WvW is different to the species of karma train in EOTM. EOTM trains actually work together to K train. However In WvW, when people actually care about PPT (for some reason), Karma training is usually a one sided affair and typically involves one server rolling over all the others. As their intention is to obliterate the competition as much as possible, we call this Karma training. (its kind of an expression rather than the actual pursuit of karma)

The SM mass stealth fountain give the biggest blobbing karma training server yet another leg up to continue their blobbing, whilst smaller servers have yet another disadvantage they need to overcome.

A server having a vast coverage/numerical advantage is horrible enough. A server with a vast coverage /numerical advantage that can move about the map undetected?

No thank you.

Sentry’s and towers can spot enemies, and if I’m not mistaken this works on invisible units. It shows them on the map not the character model. If it’s a little strong I expect ArenaNet will look into it. Despite the past it seems ArenaNet is putting some focus on WvW I just hope the ‘forum community’ (the toxic ones) don’t scare them away.

Also on that note, as much fun as it Is having a laugh at this very silly idea, I do hope that people do refrain from becoming too toxic. Because I truly do enjoy WvW and I really do want this issue to be addressed. I don’t want to log on to find that Anet has deleted this thread because people were getting out of hand. Thus condemning us to endure the invis karma train.

As frustrating as it is, patience is the key if we don’t want this abomination to become a reality haha.

Ok, so all I have to do whilst roaming is:

a) Magically know where the invis zerg/gank squad is.
b1) Have an arrow cart magically on-hand to reveal them OR
b2) Have pulled some crazy James Bond strats and put the one stealth trap allocated to me (if you put a second down it overwrites the first) precisely in that zerg/squads path.
c) After conducting that elaborate witchcraft, THEN do the Harold Holt and GTFO.

This sounds like a fantastic edition to WvW

This essentially sums it up. Some of you are saying that Reveal arrow carts are the way to go. But you see, the thing with invisible players is that you cant see them. So tell me how its possible to reveal an enemy zerg with ac’s when they’re gee i don’t know, Invisible!? Are we supposed to build ac’s all around the map and just spam “allegedly” empty fields? hoping eventually we’’ll hit an enemy blob in stealth?

That sure sounds fun.

As for stealth traps, are we supposed to run around the map replacing stealth traps every 2 mins because some solo player tripped them? How often do you think a stealth trap will successfully de-stealth an entire enemy zerg? Whats to stop them from just going back to SM to wait for the cool down? As I said, do you expect players to replace all these traps every 2 mins? How many players will be on this fun job? As Ven said 1 player = 1 trap, if they place a second trap, the first is removed.

This is a disastrous idea, as I said Im happy WvW is being given attention after all these years. But please. Remove these fountains, and remove all the Pve animals while your at it.

Skip to nine minutes, watch then read below.

So people who aren’t actually bothered to click that link. There’s an upgrade for Stone Mist castle in the Eternal Battlegrounds that allows an unlimited amount of players to enter a fountain and gain 2 mins of stealth.

In other words after the update, we’re going to be having blobs of 80 people who will be able to stealth themselves for 2 mins at a time, with a 2min cool down before you can re-enter the fountain and regain stealth. (all explained in the video)

Why…? Why would this be a good idea? Am I alone on this? Does anyone come to wvw for some player action? Why would the ability to stealth an entire zerg be enjoyable to anyone? Whats the point of being able to use skills if an entire zerg can just move to any part of the map undetected without the need to use any skills or get in any fights?

Are the majority of you guys on here in WvW to karma train and avoid other zergs/players whenever possible? All iv got to say is that I WvW to fight players. I will personally never find any enjoyment at being zerged down by a stealth-ed blob, or stealthing myself so i can move about the map Unchallenged. Either way I avoid a fight, and that’s not why I personally come to WvW.

I don’t know, thoughts?

Title is very self explanatory, and as much as I’m looking forward to a new map to roam in when the expansions is released (I only play WvW) I feel that there is far to much pve in this new map. We in WvW love to fight eachother. Whether its massive zergvzerg fights (although not for me) or smaller groups of 5 or duo/solo roamers, I take it the majority of proper WvW players play WvW to WvW not to WvPVE.

For instance, the mobs around the alters that was designed for havoc players such as myself is far too high. I much prefer the blood lust in the normal borderlands where there is no pve required to cap points. I can just stand there and have clean fights with players who come to contest me.

So pretty simple look forward to hearing your thoughts, but please, WvW is the only place I go to escape the Pve I personaly detest. There is already enough pve to keep the pve community happy. Please don’t take WvW and give it to Pve.

Please.

“I could hold a 3v1 with very little effort” excluding the part where you probably weren’t killing them because you spent a majority of that time just hiding. Not to mention, this is WvW we’re talking about, the majority of players there are vastly inferior to hard core PvP players.

I’ve won 1v4’s out there kitten and I run a hybrid build that isn’t even P/D. SPvP though, much much different story. Condi was already pretty weak in SPvP and now thanks to these changes and extreme power creep, plus the formula changes due to stacking nerfing our core source of condi dmg, these changes have actually pushed condi thief out of SPvP in terms of being effective.

It’s so bad due to all of these changes that I went from always playing a condi thief, even in SPvP, to now playing burst thief. Having the ability to stack poison doesn’t make much of a difference for condi thieves other than opening up spider venom as a viable venom for venom sharing. And even then it’s likely they’re still playing burst while using leeching venoms as added burst / healing. Also, another would be good option for poison stacking was also nerfed before even given a chance to run live and see it in action, which not only loses poison uptime, but damage due to formula changes and duration loss – so it’s pretty much unsuccessful as a condi option now. (Speaking of Shortbow / #4 skill choking gas)

And anyway, condi thieves weren’t OP, especially not in a team fight. P/D is way better in a 1v1 than a 1vx situation. And really what made it “OP” is Rune of Perplexity which was much … much easier to utilize as a stealth class, than a non stealth class. So the whole thing that made it feel so ridiculous is confusion on steal + confusion on being hit thanks to the set and lastly, confusion on interrupt.

Really though, P/D was pretty hard countered by deflect / reflect projectile. Can’t say how many times I’ve wrecked P/D thieves using stolen warrior skill or simply dagger storm. They’re also quite ineffective vs elementalists and necros will simply give them the condis back.

The build was hardly OP. even with perplexity runes if you actually knew how to fight it instead of just spamming skills through confusion. And as it stands now, condi thief NEEDS some buffs to traits / weapon sets to be worth anything at all now compared to everything else in the game. As it is now, condi thief is pretty bad.

So bad that I’ve forsaken my favorite play style to play something that’s actually effective.

Difference of opinion I suppose. But having played both WvW and Spvp the skill cap always varies(zerglings not included). Most of the roamers in WvW are Spvp players. Many Spvp players/teams iv fought against are more skilled in winning matches than 1v1’s.

And yes in wvw you usually come across players you can beat 1v4, even if your running full glass. But the Dire condi thief build that stacks bleeds running either perp (with daze) or krait (with confusion) can easily hold its own (and sometimes win) against experienced roamers (spvp players/duelists etc). Now lets be honest any build that is capable of that is broken.

Condi thief is tanky, has a high hp, does insane condi burst and essentially has no downside. Even reflecting projectiles doesn’t really do anything, as the thief is usually in stealth, and the consequential bleeds it stacks on itself are usually cured by SE.

Yes its possible to outplay a condi thief of course. But the condi player has a huge advantage, which is unbalanced in my opinion. The build is less strong in Spvp, although i’d say cele P/D which was also pretty strong in spvp was nerfed by this too, for which I am also thankful.

The thief condi build is or (I can now happily say) was one of the most over powered builds to exists in terms of WvW builds. It stacks a stupid amount of condi’s while having access to stealth with a ridiculous amount of defense. There was pretty much no downside to it. The only thing that has changed is that the condi thief’s damage output has not been buffed too much, mainly because it has no access to burn (thank god)

Having played condi thief myself, I could hold a 3v1 with very little effort.

The build needed to be nerfed, and thankfully it has now indirectly been nerfed.

1. S/D P/D can work very well. Usually use p/d against condi classes with alot of aoe.

2. Tbh with a full SA tree and a bit of acro, you don’t really need that many defensive gear pieces.

3. I would trade off some of your defensive items for more offensive pieces, get that crit % up a bit more.

4. I personaly prefer the daze on steal as I think it can be the turning point in a fight if used correctly. However I have run your traits in the past and can tell you it works just fine. Personal preference.

Whilst I agree that that there have been good points made by both sides in this debate, my opinion still remains the same, that being, a classes traits should never under any circumstances force a player to change his or her play style to suit it.

Someone said it earlier, zerker builds (e.g.6/0/2/0/6) have such a low health pool that 25% of their health would amount to an auto attack from a zerk axe warrior. Kind of hard to deliberately wait for an LR proc when your getting hit for 3.5-4k per auto attack.

I had the same problem and it finally took a kind person on the forums to sort this out since it’s really counter-intuitive.

Put the sigil of battle on the same hand (main or off-hand) in each weapon set. There is a hidden bug where they will conflict if one is on main hand of one set and off-hand of the other. So for instance:

set 1
Main hand weapon = battle
Off hand weapon = accuracy

set2
Main hand weapon = battle
Off hand = Intelligence

This should fix it for you.
