I’d be more inclined to agree with them remaining exclusive to raids if I hadn’t had to look up the raid story-line to stay up to date on the PVE story.

But look over there! I spy the White Mantle out in PVE.

So what DO you give someone who has everything?

I’m hoping to receive a Birthday Complaint Booster to use on the forums. For 60 minutes any complaint and/or whine will get taken 20% more seriously by everyone. Note that this item does not stack with any other complaint boosters.

Bonus Effect: Political Rampage! Everyone watching and not drinking Kool-Aid is forced to facepalm at the people usinga candidate as an insult, as they realize that the other one does the same thing. Everyone’s emails are lost in the process.

This is why all of our choices are terrible.

See, the offensive part of this is that it’s not a problem that a person doesn’t get something because they haven’t completed something they need to do to get it. There is no reward for getting to almost done. Some people have all been fooled by education systems into thinking participation is worth rewarding. Real World is going to show you something else.

I’m pretty sure killing bandits for their loot is frowned upon in the Real World.

It’s so easy, you can give us some clear details on how they can fix all of these things, right? I’m always interested in learning the coding involved.

I say its easy because I believe in the talent they have not that doing it is the easiest to accomplish.

Way to pass the buck. And nobody so far has claimed it is impossible, but they have broken down for you why it’s not necessarily practical. Also, a pretty good rule of thumb in life is this: if you think someone else’s job is easy, you probably don’t know as much about it as you think.

I did basic 3D modeling in college, and every time you start going on about how easy all of these things are…

I’m also someone who plays in windowed mode to avoid stutter/lag when looking up guides and such. I honestly never had any issues with GW1 in this manner, but GW2 is driving me nuts at times.

I don’t mind having my task bar visible (I actually prefer it), but I hate that I can’t truly fill the gaps on the sides of my screen when in windowed mode. When I try to stretch it to fill the side gap, it snaps back. I’m making due, but I am definitely in favor of a fix for this.

I will, however, give Windowed Fullscreen a shot at least and see if I like it better.

Do devs ever read or is this game a myth.

DragonflyDusk.6582

hah… Yeah.

I guess people are ignoring me then. >_>
So basicly I wish I could have fun while farming.
I take back what I said about fashion. But in the end-game. if you have your ascended etc.

I’m glad there are still people here that know how to play this. and honestly. I feel like a nub xD.

#“Fair-discrimination” is it new SJW buzzword? # No idea, hope not.

If you want devs to read anything post it on the reddit page. But I warn you, no matter where you post anything that goes against anything anet does you’re going to get anet white-knights that lurk the forums and reddit 24/7 that will insult you and shoot down anything you say cuz they think they are gods gift to anet.
And as far as everyone saying that the op post was incoherent, I understood everything op was saying so its obv you are all m0r0ns for not being able to understand.
and to say it was so incoherent but you still felt the need to comment on what the op said. Talk about being a hyp0crite

If you want devs (or anyone, for that matter), to read what you write (and take it seriously), the first step is make it readable without having to go over it multiple times. There’s nothing hypocritical about that, and that’s not even a correct use of the word. The second step is to make your points clear without ranting, because no one wants to listen to your soap box. Soap Boxes are bad; ideas, suggestions, concerns are good. Thirdly, people disagreeing with you does not make someone a “white knight.” If you want to get anywhere in life, you have to learn how to have civil discussions with other people without resulting to rants and name calling. There are very, VERY few “white knights” (that’s such a strawman term) on here, despite what you seem to think. Most of us just have very specific issues we rail against, and we at least attempt to do in a more polite manner.

Danikat gave a perfectly fair critique in this case, and has actually had criticisms of Arenanet in other threads, but you’ve just assumed and implied because they didn’t bash Arenanet the way you’d like that they are championing for them. These are the things that destroy any chance you have of being taken seriously. And to be honest, after taking the time to declare everyone else “m0r0ns,” you have quite frankly burned all of your bridges in one fell swoop. Good luck winning anyone over after that.

There’s plenty of evidence to show Arenanet does listen to players- my number one example would be engineer backpacks. It took a long time to get here, but we got rid of them after a massive forum thread. They can’t fix everything we bring up in the forums, especially when portions of the player-base are divided on what we want from them. I’m still holding out for a return on that Injector Backpack, myself.

TLDR: Be polite and constructive. It goes a long way.

DragonflyDusk.6582

I’m a veteran, and I don’t feel under-valued at all by this. People don’t get it for free, they have to work for these items.

Why does having something that another player doesn’t make you important? I’m pretty sure that me just having had the time to get mad Memoirs doesn’t make me better in any way than my brother, who missed out on it.

Also the missing PvP armors have been requested back for quite awhile now.

Skins should never become exclusive in a game. Time, effort and repetitiveness may keep someone from attaining a specific skin/item, but for it to be completely taken out of circulation shouldn’t ever be ‘ok’.

I’ve been playing on and off since day one of launch and that’s my view on it and always will be.

If there’s enough demand for something, then why shouldn’t it be brought back? I honestly couldn’t care less if the next guy had exactly what the first guy has. It’s personal taste and preference that sets each person apart.

I agree, 100%.

Well, I’m not buying keys when I clearly don’t get scraps out of it. My RNG is so bad that while people are drowning in avian minis I can’t even land one poor raven or owl. I could totally start a repair canister/merchant express/tome of knowledge store… If I could sell them.

And for the topic at hand, as I’ve said before, I don’t trust that this was ever intended to be a one-time instance, but rather testing the waters.

Everyone’s RNG is the same, not sure why you think yours is different to anyone else’s. It wouldn’t be random if it was selectively bad for some players than for others.

As for the one-time instance – I doubt it will either. But I’m not saying if it’s not that it’s a bad thing. I think though, if Account-Bound skins were a thing when the BL tickets first started, there wouldn’t be such an uproar about it.

And you are blatantly nitpicking to ignore my point. I get garbage consistently from Black Lion Chests, and Arenanet has just done something that makes a former workaround for this impossible.

“Everyone’s RNG is the same” doesn’t change the fact that some of us consistently lose the gamble. That is the nature of RNG, and why it irritates some of us.

The Privateer weapon skins will always be 1 ticket, unlike tradable ones. For this reason, I might actually be able to complete that particular collection.

I haven’t even managed to average 1 full ticket per year thanks to RNG, so…. yeah. One ticket forever means absolutely nothing to me.

This, I don’t want to waste my time within the game farming keys. I’ve played that content maybe 10 times already. There really needs to be better ways of obtaining them.

Personally I just buy gems to get the keys, but each to their own I suppose.

Just make em pay … 1 core + 1 xpac cost… I mean the skins are not worth it. I used to use the heritage heavy on my norn just as a unique skin. But it was so ugly.

If someone wants to spend 80 bucks or so to unlock 30 relatively skins, have at er. Supports Anet, gives you accessibility. It’s not like they are the ‘goblet of everlasting life’

Because you personally think it’s ugly that affects its worth for others? Nothing in this game is the ‘goblet of everlasting life.’ I think the ascended fractals backpack is ugly, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have merit to the people who worked hard for it. How you feel about how something looks is a terrible way to evaluate how others get it.

If Guild Wars 1 was offline barring people from playing it, I would be okay with adding a new method. But it’s not, so no. you can go earn them the old-fashioned way. Honestly, it’s massively cheaper to get some things now (especially the armor points), so you complaining about things being “locked” when many of the points are easier to get than they were doesn’t hold weight. And I’m usually one of the ones in favor of multiple ways to get things.

GW2 Races need a Chubby option

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

There shouldn’t be chunks of flesh outside of the armor. The armor would expand along with the character model. Sort of like how the same armor model is used with humans and norn. The armor model just gets bigger. And with a chubby option, it’s just a matter of the continued expansion of the armor width.

Or you can just make trenchcoats for light and heavy armors.

Have you not seen how badly things clip with charr, or norn women with their thighs popping out of their leggings? They turned the monk outfit in to a fatter bell skirt because the norn ladies couldn’t keep their thighs from cutting through. Things do not “Stretch” as well as you seem to think they do. They need to seriously fix some of the current clipping and figure out how to get things to lay properly on the current bodies before adding in more.

I do understand what you mean but it’s not skullduggery, even if it is a tactic to get people buying keys. If it were skullduggery every single Pound and/or Dollar store out there would be skullduggering all over the place.

You as a customer know what you need to do to get a ticket scrap/ticket, and it’s your choice to do that, Anet aren’t conning us into buying keys.

I personally think people should calm down after what has been said about this set, and watch this space.

If this is how they want to play it out, we should all just not buy gem store items in protest, but people won’t do that. Let’s just see. It might just be a one off (whatever the reason) and they said this set is to remain one ticket far into the future, so even the sad odds of receiving a ticket you’ll have chance to get a weapon skin if you want one. I’m not even all that impressed with these skins to be honest; even the past 2 sets I’ve been a little saddened by.

What I want is for that patch where supposedly BL Key drop rate had increased to be revisited, because what? And to plead with Anet to improve the stuff given in the chests because right now, they’re not worth buying keys for anyway; and even more so if skins would become account bound!

From my experience, “Let’s just see” always ends very badly. I’m not going to wait and see where this goes, because we were here long ago with fused weapon skins. We’ve already been down this road. If you don’t stand against the precedent now, I don’t doubt for a second this will not be a one-off scenario.

As I’ve noted in a previous post in this thread, if these remain untradeable then I can go ahead and consider them out of reach, because in 3 years of playing I have only received enough scraps for a single ticket.

It’s not even about wanting this exact set, it’s about nipping this is the bud before they all end up this way.

Reading this thread, we understand your questions and want to share a little information: This set is designed to be a special, exclusive set and therefore it’s a little different than most. There are a couple of other interesting factors that you’ll want to know: The set is available for one ticket. It will remain priced at one ticket into the future, so someone who wants it now doesn’t need to be concerned about it becoming unavailable or about it rising in price in the future. Other sets currently available are not account bound, such as the Cavalier Weapon Set which was recently released at a price of 1 Black Lion Claim Ticket and remains at that price now. In addition, we do intend to continue to offer tradeable sets in the future. If you’d like a preview of the new set, go to your bank wardrobe and filter for “Privateer.” We hope this answers your questions, and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

-Sarah

Why is the set special? Why would we think it’s anything but you testing the waters on how much you can screw over customer before there’s backlash?

This sounds like a hastily made up “reason” designed only to quell the growing base of angry customers.

Why is it so special? Do please elaborate.

I’d also like to point out that this doesn’t do anything for people like me who have beyond awful luck with the boxes and almost never see scraps as drops, even when they had increased drop-rate. I’ve been playing since the 3-Day Head start, and have never had a full ticket drop, have only had a total of 15 scraps drop, and while everyone else is drowning in the avian minis all I’ve gotten is a whopping one hawk when all I really want is the raven. My RNG is the pits.

It doesn’t matter how long you leave them up for 1 ticket if it takes me all year to get one full ticket, which I’m not even averaging that.

Account-bound weapons were a problem, then it was fixed…. now it’s a problem again. Forgive me if I don’t believe this was intended as a “special case.”

You really find this surprising? Most people did not get upset about the immortal weapons being tied to those package bundles. So this was bound to happen. Once again the lead of the micro-store wins.

I did not get upset about immortal weapon set because they did not give a collection achievement. This privateer weapon set gives a weapon collection.

Also, you didn’t have to GAMBLE for them. If I bought that bundle, I knew for certain I was getting to pick an immortal skin.

Cause and effect. You still bought those bundles which had account bound weapons tied to them. People got upset at the bundles (being over priced). Eventually getting them to separate items out. They probably were not getting enough revenue on bundles. So they decided you were okay with account bound tickets. Which eventually brought us to this fantastic idea. It comes full circle.

That doesn’t even remotely make sense. To even get to that conclusion would mean that they are either not reading the feedback they were given about the bundles, or were incapable of understanding it. Especially as this brings us BACK TO WHERE WE STARTED with untradeable BLT skins, and they knew that method was hated because they CHANGED IT. It came “full circle” because someone somewhere along the line got greedy, and maybe also can’t seem to grasp how the BLT skin situation is completely different from the Immortal skin situation, despite it being spelled out clearly for them. Though I don’t think the latter has anything to do with this, honestly. That logic is reaching.

Meh, I’m o-k with this as long as it’s a once off thing like the Immortal set, and the next few BLTC skins are back to business as usual. Personally, I think this would have been better as a nice bundle with some other stuff and choice of a skin (or three).

I’m confident the community will vote with their wallets though.

If they think people are ok with it, it won’t be. This isn’t like the Immortal skins, this is repeating history that supposedly they learned from.

Untradable weapon skins

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

DragonflyDusk.6582

I remember when the first Dragon Bash happened, and all the weapons came out. My partner got four tickets. I didn’t even get one. He didn’t care about those skins, but couldn’t give me the tickets or skins so I could have one. The entire thing was awful enough that I nearly rage-quit the game. The same thing happened with the Sclerite weapons. He got a ticket, and I didn’t. He didn’t care about the skin, and I did. Nothing he could do.

I thought you’d learned from that. You made the skins tradeable, which meant that if I really wanted a skin, I could buy gems, trade to gold, and then get the skin I wanted without the constant disappointment of getting booster after booster after merchant after revive orb. And even then, I sometimes did buy the chests, ’cause it was a fun gamble.

Making them—and the RNG contained within—the only way to obtain something is a really good way of killing the fun. It feels like an utter money grab, and it makes the game feel cheap. I don’t want my GW2 to feel cheap; I want it to feel fair and fun.

This was my exact experience with my brother and fused weapon tickets. He got a few, didn’t like any of them, but couldn’t trade them with me. On the other hand, I consistently received junk from the chests. Being able to trade created a decent balance in the system.

What baffles me is that after how much the forums exploded (inside and out of the official ones) after HOT said there would be no extra character slot, that there was someone who actually thought this was a good idea.

For a moment I thought you had actually learned something, what with finding ways to reintroduce rare skins, and then… this.

PVE not competitive enough.

DragonflyDusk.6582

How in the world are raids competitive? They are people who are maximizing cooperation in a PvE environment. If they fail it’s because they haven’t reach max cooperation (as well as sufficient dps) Unless there are other raiders in that instance who they are competing with this makes no sense.

How? Have you ever been in a raid? There is a competitive baseline, which you have to meet to kill the boss, or you simply fail. Try bringing just 9 whatevers in there and let’s see how well you do. And the baseline is quite high, which we need more in open world PVE, not just raids.

Competitive baseline? Now you’re comparing competition to beating a timer?

Nope. It’s a cooperative baseline where if they don’t cooperate sufficiently as well as dps enough then the timer runs out.

Please, show me a video of 10 mesmers cooperating to beat a boss, I am sure your cooperation skills will bring the boss down before the inevitable timer kills you. Point is, cooperation alone will give you nothing, you need to be competitive too.

I don’t think you actually understand what it means to “cooperate”.

Competition would be if the mesmers all had to kill each other for the chest at the end.

Choose a Name for Tyria’s Heroes!

I didn’t vote for Dragon’s Watch because it was as equally cheesy as everything else, and is shoe-horning us in to the dragon business. It’s like the Dragonhunter all over again. Dragon’s Watch pretty much describes Tyria as much as the other two names.

I liked Eternity’s Guard more because it felt like an extension of Destiny’s Edge, which we basically are at this point. They were the sword, and we are the shield. I like the way they play off of each other.

Eternity’s Guard for me. Dragon’s Watch seems corny, and the only value I find in that one is that you do end up doing most of the work, but bitterness seems a poor reason to choose a name for a group. Unbroken was my second choice, since each of them has lost something of importance and has kept going despite their misfortunes.

You sum up my feelings rather well.

After looking for help in the forums I finally submitted a ticket to support and was told it was being looked in to (that was a few days ago). Hopefully someone at Arenanet can figure out what’s wrong so we can see our gloves dyed I haven’t been able to try looking at my gloves from another computer, however, just have been told from others that sometimes they see the color I picked, sometimes they don’t.

The thing that is weird that I noticed is that each of my characters that have the chaos gloves skin in use has a different color that they are stuck on for me. My Mesmer is white, my Revenant is purple-ish, and my Guardian was orange, it doesn’t matter what is actually in the dye channel, that’s what they show for the colors.

If the WvW poll were any indication though it’s that the “general” player base is not nearly as single minded as most people probably think and “just do what the players want” is far more difficult to determine than many of us realize.

Guildmates told me that they were white on their end. That was on my mesmer, in which the gloves are stuck white.

I’ve had this issue since I bought the chaos gloves, but they refuse to change color. My Mesmer is stuck with white for the aura despite being dyed blue, aside from one rare instance in which I loaded and it decided to glow blue. Changed maps, back to white, despite the dye channel never changing off of blue. My Revenant is stuck with a purple color from the moment I transmuted them, even though I never had purple selected for her dye channel. It’s driving me mad that I can’t dye them like everyone else.

Edit for more info: I even tried transmuting the to a different skin, then back to the chaos gloves, no change from that purple glow.

Pictures included to show what I mean.

Suggestion- Name Purge

It is simple. Because it’s not going to happen. Frankly, the reason people ask for this is because they’re either crap at coming up with names that arent from pop culture or are too lazy to put in any effort.

Pretty much this. Though I’m almost barely impressed with the ridiculous amounts of variations that people manage with Khaleesi and Stark.

And while we are on that note, guess who is the proud owner of the name Khaleesi Dragonbabe as of seconds ago? THIS GUY.

You know how that guy in Silverwastes has constant fundraisers for some cause or another? Why couldn’t we have a “Put the Lion Back in Lion’s Arch” fundraiser for Lion’s Arch?

I miss that statue, darn it! When I came across it in the ruins in the bay, I honestly welled up. LA is the heart and soul of Tyria, after all.

Oh and good finds, OP. This is a fun thread!

There needs to be an official “Save the Lion Statue” Fundraiser! That thing was a monument to our enduring spirit as Tyrians. After being repeatedly blown up and remade, it rose from the ashes of war like a phoenix. We need the Lion back in Lion’s Arch!

… I feel bad for Toilet-papering it during Halloween each year. Sort of.

wat weapons do you want next for classes

Engineer – Mace/ Shortbow
Mesmer – Axe (either hand)
Elementalist- MH Sword/ Shortbow/ MH Pistol
Ranger – Mace/ Shield
Necromancer – Torch
Guardian – OH Sword/ Rifle
Warrior – MH Pistol
Revenant – Focus
Thief – Rifle/ Torch

Anyone with a land-spear would be awesome. I’d rather seem some lesser used weapons get love before we start handing out great-swords again.

I honestly tune out most of these things so I just don’t notice them anymore. The only one I can’t seem to is that Norn woman in Hoelbrak that yells,

“Take heed! I haven’t taken leave of me senses! I’ve seen creatures of metal and steam!”

Really, lady? I thought we covered why they were there years ago. Get with the times.

So it will reward the items no matter what level character you use the item on?

Yes, you get all of the listed items like the dye packs on a non-80 character as well. I just checked for myself.

Lol, why is it, that the first thing in my mind I got is, its just a Dreamer reskin, that shoots tigers instead of rainbow horses >.>

I kinda fear that being the case as I was hoping for a more serious weapon like with HOPE being an awesome more serious weapon while Quip is a silly joke weapon.

I would take a tiger flying at my face very seriously.

I guess, lol. Still ends up better than girly unicorns either way then.

Given how much people complain about “girly unicorns,” re-skinning it to flying tigers seems like a good way to go. Or have it shoot biceps so people really get how masculine it is now.

If biceps aren’t masculine enough, I’m sure there’s some other manly part it could shoot to be….. manly.

I’ve seen…. detailed descriptions of that nature for the short-bow on reddit. >_>

But really, I like to use the flamethrower on my engineer in first-person view in central Tyria, so I really do see things flying at my face.

Legendary weapons

Has anybody noticed how none of the people defending this because “it makes sense to focus on LS content” keep ignoring the fact that there are people developing a new expansion when they haven’t even finished this one that came out 6 months ago and are starting to cut features?

They prob care more about LS and the content in new expansions then about the terrible grind that these new legendaries are. I know I do.

Pretty much this.

Also, while I initially started out sympathetic to the people upset over this info I’m finding myself less so the more some of these criticisms devolve in to tantrums. People can express their disapproval without sounding like that awkward child that’s always screaming in the toy aisle. Keep it classy and some people are. Pretty soon I’m going to have to change in my signature which meltdown I survived. If I survive this one.

How is this legal?.

I previewed on my human female and thought, "Oh, looks pretty nice with her color scheme. " Went on to preview it with my placeholder human male and snorted my soda out of my nose.

OP’s looks like Stay Puft Marshmallow man, mine looks like Juggernaut.

Edit: I feel like there should be wheels on the bottom of the male version to allow for movement.

You can make food and pretend you’re Gordon Ramsay and wander about hollering at people.

I prefer to pretend I am Emeril and shout “BAM!” randomly at the cooking station.
