A jubilee is usually a celebration of a round anniversary, in this case it was Queens Jennahs 10 years as reign of DR 2 years ago in August.
As we didnt celebrate the anniversary last year or this year, I doubt we get one in the near future, maybe in 3 or 8 years.
But we did have the Crown Pavilion, which it seems pretty obvious that’s what the OP is actually asking about.
It doesn’t look like we will be getting the Crown Pavilion event this year. It’s already pretty late compared to when it launched previously, and we are getting closer to Halloween/HoT. I wouldn’t be sad to be wrong about this, though.
I bought the Scarlet Gloves and Spaulders previously with real money. I am 100% okay with this. I don’t panic when someone buys a designer bag I splurged for on sale or for nickels at a thrift store.
I am very unhappy about this also. it feels like I wasted gems
You had the skins for over a year, that’s what your gems bought you.
That probably cost you less than what the grind required to earn enough blooms plus the gold to buy them now.
I only bought them for collection purposes and not used them :p
And collection stuff gets devalued by discounts and alternative ways to aquire them. If anything this stuff should get more expensive over time to reward early buyers instead of punishing them.If it’s only an item you ticked off of a list, then it’s not something of true importance to you. The list is, not the item. Maybe you shouldn’t be so attached to those lists. So much so that you wish to refuse others from ticking off the items on their list.
You hit the nail on the head.
I bought the Scarlet Gloves and Spaulders because I wanted them, and I’m not at all bothered people can work towards them this way. But my enjoyment comes from building up my character, and not worrying about if other characters look like mine or if I have something to hold over other people’s heads.
Nada. Not a great way to start this event. :\
Why is it none of you can view these for what they are? High end collectibles… limited time items of limited availability in a supply and demand market… what’s confusing?
What’s confusing is the idea that increasing the supply is somehow a bad thing for EVERYONE involved.
It isn’t. It might be considered a bad thing by a very few. But realistically, if an item hasn’t sold in 3 years, the people sitting on those skins aren’t in any need of the gold those items represent, and they can either cut their losses and accept that their gamble didn’t pay off (because it is and should be a gamble), or wait another 3 years for the cost of those items to return to the ludicrous pipe dream levels they believe they should be at. Since patience almost certainly comes easily to them.
Other people also getting nice things doesn’t actually affect you in any way besides ego.
Now, it would be different if it actually WAS like luxury cars, and they could be sold on again after use, but that analogy isn’t quite accurate to the reality of the situation.
Rashagar…. keep being awesome. And sensible.
gw2 rip, ppl already saying they’re gonna stop helping new players bcuz f2pers come and go like random ppl u see on the street. see what u’ve done to our community anet.
You wouldn’t help a random person on the street?
When they rebuilt Lion’s Arch they made a big deal about how they want to keep Halloween there for the sake of tradition.
That makes me even more concerned we won’t be seeing it this year :-/
I must have missed that, but it makes me feel better that they (probably) won’t try to cram it in to Divinity’s Reach. Hopefully they planned it out back when they were actually redesigning Lion’s Arch, but I’m going to remain cautiously skeptical.
I’m scared we might not get ANY form of Halloween, between HOT releasing and the fact they would have to re-do the way they decorate Lion’s Arch for it. I would take a copy+paste of last year, but it’s not as simple as just copy+paste this time. I guess we just have to wait and see what happens.
For me personally, I was upset when I found out the release date was so close to Halloween. It’s my favorite holiday in-game (even with the rehashing), and I’m worried about how they are going to handle it. My personal concerns include:
1. It not going live: Either because Arenanet doesn’t want it to compete with HOT, or because they didn’t tailor it yet to the new Lion’s Arch layout.
2. It going live, but becoming the absurdly minuscule squish-fest at the Queen’s Pavilion that Wintersday was last time.
I personally would have preferred HOT coming out in November so that it didn’t risk interfering with Halloween, but also to give them some more time to perfect HOT. And if they skip Halloween, then it means waiting another whole year for it. :|
They need to finish the funeral attire first.
….. I’m kidding.
There are plenty of items you can get at any time, blame yourself if you need exactly this item.
God forbid someone wears the same shoes as you.
…And if any of the above upset you, maybe don’t hinge your self-worth on the exclusivity of digital property.
You can’t reason with people who start arguing “prestige.” Their snowflake ridges get extra prickly.
That is the problem. Different cultures feel different ways about all kids of things. In general, I would say whatever the standards are where the company hangs its hat should rule. Which makes it interesting here since NCsoft is based in South Korea while anet is in the US … two completely different cultures and legal systems.
A lot of people will object if only MF marriages are allowed but other people would object if they were not the only option. You need some way of settling the debate rather than trying to please everyone.
The debate has been settled by educated, intelligent people a long time ago. You don’t need to pander to idiots. You just ignore anyone who objects to same sex coupling for the very simple reason that they are wrong, and probably religiously motivated. Bigotry based on outdated fairy tales doesn’t deserve serious consideration, by anyone. If they get offended, you shrug and move on.

Been here since 3 day head-start. It can start raining Mad Memoires for everyone for all I care. I have my memories of obtaining the item and that’s all I need.
I don’t need to keep people from obtaining pretty things in this game to enjoy it for myself.
I hope they bring them back one day for you, Tifa!
My Guardian is now able to wear the garments of her great-great-great-great-great-great-grandmother thanks to outfits. I could go for some more armor sets, but I’m fine with having outfits as well.
They lose all their meaning when everyone and their mum got it
players want prestige gear which is expensive or time consuming no bullkitten
“Prestige” is that never-ending carrot on a stick that is only held for a moment and ultimately gives you nothing.
So we are able to get 9+ minute kills without using the exploit at all.
How do you know that? Did you have no guardians at all in the dps zerg? So far all the screens i have seen of “legit” kills had still guardian symbols visible on the ground.
If you read the rest of that post… i said we beat guardians with a stick if they use symbols, typically symbols mead light fields which means no might.
I obviously cannot and should not have said at all. It is possible there were a few symbols. Here is the video from our Monday night kill. We hit 9:04.
You can see in the video there are not many guardians, and even less light fields. The only light fields were when wall of reflection was used.
Sadly, i dont have a video from our guild run saturday night where we had even fewer people with fewer guardians and almost 0 pugs. We hit 9:02 on that night.
Teq is just as killable as he was before. The fight has not changed at all if you were among us that still did melee kills before the patch because it was faster. Did we get about 2 minutes less than before the 2x health, yes. Is it now impossible, NO.
If anything is harder it is because we lost some healing from tome of courage because Signet of courage is such complete garbage now.
Even less light fields? That was practically a Guardian rave going on in that video. I’m more interested in seeing the video footage of you beating the Guardians with sticks.
So one person’s emotions matter more than another person’s.
In a word? Yes.
Not all opinions are created equal. Not all emotions are equivalent.
Once again, we are seeing an example of a false equivalence. Person A is existing how they feel comfortable existing. Person B is taking offense to that existence.
Person B’s feelings are completely irrelevant on this score, and can be dismissed without merit. Person B’s feelings do not matter in regard to Person A’s.
That sounds extremely backwards in progressing “equality”. And to be quite frank that reeks of “your opinion is different than mine, so it doesn’t matter.” Not to mention being a breath away from “Not all people are equal.”
Also on the topic of “he” vs “she” – I understand that these individuals feel a certain way about themselves and do not necessarily identify with their biological identity. That’s fine.
But for me – who perceives them as that biological entity which they are ( regardless of their own inner perceptions) – why is it wrong to call them with the normal pronoun associated with that biological entity? My perception of them is mine. It is subjective.
Is it wrong that I choose to perceive them in my own way instead of the way they themselves want to be perceived?
These are serious questions – and it would be interesting to see how people feel about them and what their answers would be.
Because it has an emotional connotation for them that you are completely ignoring? You are choosing, by ignoring both their wishes and presentation to actively cause them emotional harm for the sake of a word. Basic human decency and politeness would dictate that you, being aware that it hurts them, wouldn’t do it. But some people just aren’t polite or decent I guess.
So one person’s emotions matter more than another person’s.

I wonder why you’d start another thread stirring the pot if you want to talk about guildhalls instead.
Your attitude is detrimental to the conversation by polarising it. But I guess that’s what trolls do.
This right here is trolling and incendiary. He/she’s asking for decency. We mostly moderate ourselves on here and I thought this was very appropriate all things considered. The pot has been stirred my friend and has been boiling for DAYS. People just need to simmer down! (See what I did there?
)
OP didn’t ask for decency, he/she just told everyone that’s complaining to stop making fools of themselves. I think you misunderstood what was going on in the OP.

I’d like to emphasize the not throwing poop at each other’s decisions in regards to whether or not they purchase the game. Some are grateful, some are not. It makes it ten times worse when we are pulling each other down for not making the same choice. Have a nice friendly debate with facts, but don’t expect to sway any opinions by putting someone on the chopping block because they don’t feel the same way. The posts put up to thank Anet have been torn up and down and it wasn’t even addressed to the haters. So sad and embarrassing when something like that gets hijacked. I feel like we need to do the Care-bear Stare or something because nothing else is working!
A Carebear stare would be nice right about now. With Anet leaving us alone on the island for now, it’s starting to feel like Lord of the Flies.
Anet is not stupid and they know not to speak to raging internet mobs.
You are starting to sound like those goldseller spam messages in mapchat. :|
And on topic, I imagine they need a little more time to fully process how to address this current situation.

looks like the next overused word in the gw2 community is “salty”
It’s coming in a close third behind “Entitled” and “White Knight”!
If the pre-purchase price was “Fine” The forums and reddit wouldn’t be on fire. Even a few people agitated could support the OP’s claim of “Fine” but this is a full blown rebellion.
Forums and reddit blow up when any kind of news or update is heard or happens. This is no different, and I guarantee people are not going to leave the game if they have invested lots of time into it. It’s laughable, and I hope Arena Net doesn’t give in.
Complaining is normal. This turned in to a full-scale forum war right after prepurchase was announced. I think you’re down-paying the scope here a bit.

If it costs t hem 100,000$ according to the reddit thread, I hope it brings in 10 times that in new players that don’t act like entitled brats.
As I said just a moment ago in another thread, “Entitlement” is the new “Toxicity”. All you are doing is purposely antagonizing.
The worst things I’ve seen reading these threads since the pre-purchase was announced hasn’t been from the complainers about the pre-purchase offers, it’s the people who launched in to assault mode against them and started telling them how they should feel and trying to shame them for differing opinions. Honestly, I’m seeing more rage coming from the side supposedly supporting the pre-purchase. This is getting more depressing as it goes.
I understand your grief over the whole thing.
However, saying that one side has the right to bash, be aggressive in their complaints and whines(yes, whines), and to express their opinions however they want to…….while telling the other side that they can’t do exactly the same thing……..well, that weakens your point. Significantly.
I didn’t say they did. I noted I’m seeing more of it from one side, and “whining” is being thrown indiscriminately at anyone who has any sort of complaint. I’ve been in the middle watching this whole thing spiral in to an ugly cesspool.
And complainers have also been throwing around the white knight and fanboy comments in the same sort of fashion.
And yea, all it has become is an ugly cesspool with very few redeeming qualities whatsoever.
In the same fashion? Yes. In the same doses? Not as much. Again, watching from the sidelines, I’m seeing a more venom coming from supporting side, and I certainly didn’t expect that. That’s not a testament to either side’s points, just the attitude coming out. Neither side should be doing it at all, I’m just not used to seeing it so heavy from people that are in support of Arenanet in whatever is it they have done. And now people on both sides that were previously level-headed are getting antsy. I feel like I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole and everyone’s mad here.

That would be glorious, but I’d also like it to come with some sort of selection option so that you could turn on / off certain minis from the rotation.
I have a number of minis that I have only because they were given to me for free from LS events that I don’t really care to ever use.
Of all the silly, frivolous- GIVE IT TO ME NOW! WANT.
Edit: Seriously, I’m on board with this.
I love how everyone in the livestream on guild halls today shut up about $50 dollars being over priced after they shown the content today. Completely tone changed in minutes, so funny.
“I didn’t see complaining in the twitch chat! No one is complaining about it!”
*Meanwhile, back at the official forums and reddit…
From what I saw, any angry hateful posts were by players attacking other players for simply complaining in the first place. I saw a lot of condescending parody threads, making critics out like they are cheapskates who want free stuff for nothing. It’s no wonder an angry reaction blew up when there are so many trolls running around dismissing honest discussion with insults and parody.
I’ve actually been keeping out of this mess for now and sticking to reading, and this was pretty much what I witnessed. There are always going to be some people who make unreasonable demands, but there was a whole lot of the opposing side jumping in with the attitude of “shut-up and deal with it.” And that attitude is guaranteed to help the situation pretty much never.
Never give up, never surrender! And enjoy the gold a long the way.
I thought it was odd last year when they didn’t include Dragon Bash again in the line-up.
Since they are working on an expansion I certainly didn’t expect the Living Story update schedule that they previously had, but I’d be lying if I said I thought they were going to drop Festivals in the meantime. I guess this is the price for having the festivals tied in with the Living Story
I liked the Bazaar of the Four Winds as well, but I figure that won’t make the cut either due to the story they incorporated.
My kittens are growing wings. They’re titwings.
Some things…. cannot be unseen…. o_O
I’m not having any loading issues, but since the patch today I have been crashing. Notably annoying as it has conveniently happened at world bosses right as they are about to die. My internet has been fine.
I have no interest in getting these skins myself but I agree that they should be available as drops. They can be incredibly rare drops (for example some people suggested adding the jet pack to the Molten Fractal at the same drop rate as it originally had) but it would be beneficial to the game as a whole to have some supply being added to balance out those being bound to accounts.
But also I don’t agree with this idea that some things should be artificially limited simply so some of the people who happen to have it can imagine that other people are impressed by it and that it makes them special in some way.
I don’t doubt some people do think that (there was a topic here not long ago where someone complained that not enough people complimented them on their rare sword) but IMO if even 1 person wants it for their own enjoyment that should take priority.
+1. You pretty much summed up my feelings on the matter.
The wings are gorgeous, but I have to say I have no plans to buy them because they don’t match any of the colors I put my characters in. I’ll just enjoy the looks others come up with around them
I doubt it will ever happen, but I shall dream of the day when we can dye some of our back items.

I hadn’t thought of that, but it makes sense when you look at the names we have so far:
Necromancer —> Reaper
Mesmer --> Chronomancer
Ranger —> Druid
Guardian --> DragonhunterOtherwise we’d probably have “chronomancy”, “reaping” (though we do have soul reaping), “druidism” and “dragonhunting.” The Elite specs are most definitely acting as profession names.
And now for something different. If I didn’t have more characters than I really play already, I would make another Guardian and name it Bowreguard, just for this specialization…
If anyone ever does this, please please send me a picture. Please.
Umm…then how does Tempest fits in?
I just assumed we’ve moved beyond wielding the storm and now ARE the storm. Well, embodiment of it. I’m not really sure why you didn’t think it makes sense with the others.
Also this.
In a teacup!
The word tempest can be applied to more than just violent storms, which, by the way, can combine water, air, fire (following some lightning strikes) and even earth in the form of mudslides. Heck, there could be cows! You never know.
I personally think it would be cool if our eles could focus on just one element without being rendered less than optimal, but that’s another thread.
Hollywood has Sharknadoes, let’s have Cowslides!
Alright so a discussion of which real world ideologies do what to whom isn’t necessarily productive in terms of figuring out whether the Zintl fanatics were wrong to hand the Itzel wyvern eggs then claim that the Itzel’s deity abandoned them when the wyverns attacked. It’s clearly a method of violence and deception, so let’s leave it at that.
This coming from the person who piped in with a real world analogy. Really, you could have left out your entire first paragraph in your original post and the rest would have made sense. Don’t add to the fire when you don’t want it to burn.
In a game where you’ve killed 10,000’s if not 100,000 sentient beings/animals I find your false sense of offendidness a little hard to believe… Your character is literally the biggest mass murderer in all of history, killing a few frogs is the least of your worries.
Heck if you’ve completed the ambient killer achievement you’ve killed enough bunnies to have been committed in real life.
I’ll have you know I’m eating those ambients to survive! And committed by who, PETA?
“False offendidness”? How do you know if someone is truly offended or not? Also, aside from the targeting awkwardly making me shoot moas when I mean to hit the bear trying to maul me, some of us don’t kill things in the game unless they try to kill us first. Actually, what can you kill that isn’t aggressive towards you besides woodland critters? Not saying there isn’t anything in game, but I can’t think of anything of the top of my head.

I think the name Dragonhunter is silly, however… I compared it to the other trait lines instead of the profession name. I wonder how we’d feel if they said the new specialization was Virtues or Radiance?
Chronomancer compares not to Mesmer, but to Dueling and Inspiration?
And the weirdest one; we now have Reaper and Soul Reaping? So we have a spec for reaping of souls and another for all other run of the mill reaping.
lolI think they did that because they aren’t supposed to be compared. You will only ever be able to equip one elite spec at a time (when they do introduce more) and, in doing so, your class becomes specialized and your class name technically changes to reflect your new profession skills and mechanics. No other trait line changes the mechanics of your class; all they do is add effects to existing mechanics. Every elite spec is going to have a profession name for it.
I hadn’t thought of that, but it makes sense when you look at the names we have so far:
Necromancer —> Reaper
Mesmer --> Chronomancer
Ranger —> Druid
Guardian --> Dragonhunter
Otherwise we’d probably have “chronomancy”, “reaping” (though we do have soul reaping), “druidism” and “dragonhunting.” The Elite specs are most definitely acting as profession names.

Fixing the forum bug.
The key word everyone seems to be missing from the OP is “optional”. The OP isn’t suggesting that they stop making skimpy armors, just that they give the option to make them less revealing. Optional, not forced on everyone. And telling everyone to find a different outfit is ignoring the point here. I like trench-coats well enough, but in the medium armor class it feels like most of the options are overly bulky and for awhile the “sleek” and tail-less options were skimpy. I will say though that arenanet has done a nice job adding in more to the medium armors that are a nice balance between less bulk and skimpy.
And the issue here isn’t just about being afraid of looking sexy, some people want to look like they are wearing battle-appropriate attire.
I don’t expect Arenanet to redo any of the older skins to fit the suggested idea, but I wouldn’t mind some newer ones having this format. I get the argument about resources and taking too much time to develop, but the “if you don’t like it, don’t wear it” attitude seems ridiculous when what the OP suggested would be optional. Also, you’d be flipping tables if you were in a thread suggesting “more skimpies!” and people showed up and started giving that response.
First of all people the Revenant is not meant to be a major damage dealer. It’s a tank and therefore does low damage like a tank does. That’s why they are full celestial. Get your heads out of the stupid meta crap and think.
Everyone was full celestial in the beta. Everyone.
This is a thread about the Revenant not other classes.
You just said that Revenants were in celestial gear because they were tanks. Nilix pointed out that everyone was in celestial gear, implying that being a tank had nothing to do with it.

Since the number one thing our characters are going to be doing in their lifetimes is hunt the elder dragons down and kill them, I think this name is fairly appropriate. I like the way it sounds and I like the focus on the greatest threat to Tyria of our time.
It also applies to every player-made Sylvari, regardless of class. More power to Sylvari Guardians, I guess, or else your life is now an odd contradiction.
Minding my own business and then…

So we all come to a name that everyone agrees with? No? Anyone get that point?
Nope, it’s just QQ because Anet developers made a creative decision that isn’t everybody’s favorite.
Everyone is allowed to have opinions, until they disagree with yours, and then suddenly it’s QQ. Some people complain simply to complain on both sides of this naming fence, and now the whole thread is going in circles.
The thing about this topic that I find interesting is that I don’t see that many people arguing that they actually like the name, but rather simply arguing with the people who don’t like it on whether or not it fits. Like it’s some nasty tasting medicine we should all have to swallow because Arenanet said so. I don’t think anyone should be abusive to the creative team here, but I don’t think it’s wrong to question them about their decisions.
I never particularly liked the name, but I found myself liking it even less when they tried to explain the motivations behind the name. The first post calls it a big game hunter, but when they come on the forums to justify it, suddenly it’s akin to witch hunters? These two things seem so off from each other it really does put me in the camp of people feeling like this name was just slapped on without any real theme planned. I’ll still use the spec regardless of the name, but it’s gonna be like that awkward itch between your shoulders that not everyone can reach.
Of the ones listed I like Seeker, even if it makes me think Quidditch. XD
Seeker
1. One that seeks: a seeker of the truth.
2. A device used in a moving object, especially a missile, that locates a target by detecting light, heat, or other radiation.
Someone probably posted that definition already, but with all the pages and merging I’m getting lost, so sorry if that’s the case.
“Dyeing” weapons would really make no sense.
We could do it in GW1 just saying, granted the dyes didnt effect much usually, and really i dont see them changing it this late anyways.
Well i never played GW1 so idk. Just kinda stupid to dye weapons in my opinion. How would having people with red, blue, orange, etc weapons running around?
How stupid is it that we can already dye metal armor? We don’t just dye the clothe parts. I don’t find it necessary, but I would certainly like to be able to dye my weapons.
if you want hard content then go play another MMO!
I want some hard content. If you don’t, why don’t YOU go play another MMO? :P That logic is a two-way street.
I don’t believe everything should be difficult, but I want some more challenges to be thrown our way. I miss the big events from living story season 1 where we had large-scale battles that required effort and coordination. And to be frank, everything difficult becomes “easier” overtime as people figure out how to approach them. Tequatl’s revamp threw people in to a tizzy because he was so “insanely difficult”, people wanted him nerfed. Now we have a system and he gets rolled regularly. Do not fear difficulty
