The announcement that Cantha Expansion is coming and that we have to rally and retake those lands from… <insert some bad guys name here>.
Less “Hello Kitty” design in GW2
(your player base is growing up, agewise, many have already been around since GW1…)
If you love that style… go play “Hello Kitty”. Thx. (meaning: this game is 12+, but sometimes I got the feeling its trying to cater a younger audience than that)
;D

I know right?
:P
Will be introduced with the Lvl 500 cook mastery and you will need 1 bazillion things to make …ONE!
No, will never happen….
there will be:
Ascended Dyes
I noticed yesterday that there are dam-like walls around LA on both sides….. also the new buildings would work very well for a new underwater environment.
Another hint for me is that if you check out behind the Asura portals to WvW and fractals the airship docks are high enough to be used after a flooding.
Unfortunatly I can’t decifer the writing on the wall there, might be another hint, mustn’t be though.
Did anybody hear any rumors about that?
Will LA be destroyed again soon? (being under water is sort of destroyed for me)
Since I’m on the destruction trip….
Rata Sum also in for it this time in the HoT expansion and the Asura have to build a new capitol further in the West?
Perhaps this time under the earth again in rediscovered Ancient ruins from where they originaly came from?
Totally agree with the OP.
I have this game since release, have about the same hrs clocked and had the exact same experiences.
Actually in one ofmy guilds I had 1 person left GW2 after he got all precursors, another made tons of gold with precursors and left… now I’m in a new guild and again a guy here already ahs 7 pre’s and drops one randomly again in a dungeon just yesterday. Also you hear the frequency in which the usual suspects get random exo’s and see in comparison your loot over time quota. Hmmmmmyaa…..
How about Tequatl.. if I get a spoon I already consider myself lucky… other expensive drops? Only to the other guys in the champ runs and raids…. sigh
And I always try to stay unbiased and optimistic….
This actually is one reason I havent bought the expansion and seriously am thinking about doing so.
It’s kind of like :
GW2: “I dont like you.”
Me: “Ok. let me fork out some money so you can treat me like kittens in the future as well”
From my personal experience RNG must be broken somehow and ppl can say all day long what they want.. it wont change the experience of 3 yrs in GW2.
(edited by Eileane.3845)
Thats the problem already… I guess he goes on the platform OVER B (correct me if I’m wrong), and that is something most people (including me) do not go around kindly with (I don’t use the chat, just come over, kick your tushi and give you a finisher).
If I play a Ele or Necro I do my stuff down where everybody else is… and not somewhere undisturbed.
Sry bud, but if thats the situation I understand the reaction you got. Often Ranged characters also stay up there and continue spamming till they finally get beaten up. Thats where all this aggression comes from.
(edited by Eileane.3845)
Chars should have problems with lift-off because their so big.. would be a cool animation when they use theirs
yup.. yesterday one of our typical suspects pulled out yet another pre right after the patch. We only have two guys in the guild (one has 13 the other over 20 I think) that keep pulling out stuff from the toilet.
personally… nada
the worst thing is that one of them still keeps complaining about the game alllll the time….
A few changes from patch to patch (different NPC`s building up something else, maybe some static dialog) would be nice to give the feeling of something happening.
Rebuilding LA to the way it exactly looked as before would be strange tho since back in the day they used the old fleet ships and now since those are destroyed the new city would/should look different.

You do know that macro “musicians” spend alot of time creating those parts and most are macros due to the limitation of not being able to play the way you would like it to sound. That and often having nobody able around to split up the song or practice is the reason its done.
lol… ok who`s paying you dude.
yea Zojja tripped me as well, looks like a cheap knock-off you find in a shady sidestreet :/

Nice idea I`d love to see gentle giant ltd have a go on GW2 characters.. from the other stuff I seen from them they are great and not expensive either.

My fav little Asura mesmer (now also as Xmas edition)
Also love that new winter suit
(edited by Eileane.3845)
your missing tons of emotes to do a good film in GW2….
I`d rather have the “oven pipe” type of boot shafts and “free ankle” heavy armor skins fixed (here`s a hand down from your older/younger sister live with it sweety).
I could post screens but anyone playing female humans already ran into this problem. Especially if you have to buy them for gold (like the Vigil armor boots). I nearly went nutz when I saw that…. should have checked before spending on them.
if you want kitten ears pls go play hello kitty online… I heard pvp was great there.
Hardly play my ranger but my shark is called “Gums”
would be a cool elite skill for the engineer to call in pact airstrikes…
My Asura Mesmer in Canthan Expeditionary Outfit (Parade Version).
Helm = Zephyr
Shoulders = Radiant Mantle
Chest = Whispers Secret Robe
Gloves = Radiant Vambraces
Legs = Inquest Breeches (chose them because of the compass fit the theme)
Feet = Ascended Standard
Back = Armorsmith Intricate Backpack (not the last one, its the smaller version. Fits theme)
Colors used: Fog / Celestial / Illumination / Silver / Tarnished Steel / Ash

Would be great if we could have one of them under Dry top only with Asura ruins…. but… lore-wise I don`t know if Asuras where so far up north when they lived underground.

Since your entire post hinges on it, I thought I’d point out:
GW2 and Gaming in general isn’t to be blamed for the sense of “entitlement” that younger generations seem to have. In fact, games have become easier because of that. Younger generations want an instant gratification, and don’t want to spend much time on anything, and games have become accommodating of that (very few people among younger generations are willing to put in the effort for challenging content). Developers making games as hard as they used to be will probably have a harder time attracting a wider audience (games like Dark Souls, while really good and reminiscent of older games in terms of difficulty, probably don’t bring in the casual majority of gamers into the market).
GW2 aims to be casual-friendly while still providing challenging content for people who want it. There’s still some challenging content in the game (dungeons, fractals, silverwastes, dry top, orr, tequatl, and triple trouble), which have been made easier due to experience. Marionette is another example of challenging content requiring lots of coordination to succeed, too bad it was temporary.
Regarding rezzing near chests – depends on the chest. If it’s in the labyrinth, with a WP seconds away from the entrance and with things that can insta-kill anyone trying to rez, dead players aren’t doing anyone any favours. I’ve tried to rez people in the labyrinth whenever I can, taking a risk every time I do so. I even made a few joking bets with the dead player to see how long I can last before a lurcher got me. If it’s chests out in the open world, then I would agree. Rezzing the player before getting the chest is a nice thing to do (even with 2 waypoints in the map and a skritt tunnel network making it easier to navigate the map – it was fairly easy, albeit time-consuming, navigating the map before both were added).
Exactly my point from the first post I made in this post.
Younger generations want instant gratifications without doing anything for it or little and still feel lke the rules and pro gamers. The problem I see with that is this also transfers in alot of cases into their r/l, and ofc, vis versa. It would be interesting to think about the gaming industries responsibility of catering to this kind of behavior and way of thinking.
Btw trying to rez anybody in the laby is crazy Sir. I meant the bandit chests you dig up
(edited by Eileane.3845)
I don`t think its a matter of zero tolerance to ppl that are new to this media, alot of people still love to explain or go for a hike with the new guys and listen to their impressions of the game your playing.
But I also think just because the internet is more accessible you don’t have start thinking they can`t adapt to a game.
It was the challenging games that still have a place in most peoples memories, not the mediocre ones you just played in a fly by.
If you design a game you should consider the “water heater” type playerbase will swoop in on the MMO release and also be gone as soon as they reach the “endgame” (2 days later!), whine a little bit about in some forums and that’s it.
OT: The new jumping puzzle and the “commandos” homage in the last living story chapter was really nice and a step in the right direction imo (hope to see both have a return in the game somewhere else (charr submarine base infiltration, large scale map of asura ruins full with mobs and legendary treasures and old lore books under tyria)
(edited by Eileane.3845)
(warning controversial posting!)
This is something I`ve been following over a few years now and had quite a few interesting discussions with friends and guildies about this.
Imho catering (spoonfeed) everything is making the new gamer generations less and less used to using their brains, fighting to get to a goal or being persistant in reaching one. One big thing I see about that personally is that this behaviour our kids nowadays learn in a game will expect and repeat in their real life.
As a gaming company this is a responsibility they should be thinking about.
Over the years there is a strong change in the gamers generations I seen since being active in MMO`s.
In the starting years a gamer was helpful, usually polite (internet wasn`t as wide spread as nowadays) and I still remember us standing around talking about the hrs we needed to finally finish a boss or find our way around an area to complete high level quests.
The lastest gamers generation is totally ego driven, won`t rez you till they got their loot. Will try to stick their mob train on you if they can, wont think for two seconds but will instead ask in the map chat (I`m not speaking about everybody here), there is more but you get the message.
Only from playing places like Silverwastes you notice the difference who’s been around for a while. I`m also one of those guys that will help you up next to the treasure chest first and then loot it. Or stop and kill your mob add before the chest is gone. Today a Commander even turned around to pick me up after I died from a lovetrain somebody unloaded on me next to the chest… unfortunatly not something you see that often anymore.
Nowadays you can put a big fat icon over an NPC in the city (latest example: candy wrapper rat) and all you hear from ppl in LA is them asking where this guy might be they could give the wrappers.
In a few years you probably will get an achievement for successfully starting the game client.
But even then.. don`t panic there probably will be a youtube video that will show you how to do that.
A few years ago I remember sitting in the office (was working in the gaming industry then) and one of the guys from my project came in and started talking about “casual gamers” being the next big thing, he was so hyped I thought Jesus Christ must have shown up in that meeting and told them all about it while standing next to a burning bush.
Unfortunately, from then on games started to suck (sorry for my french here) and everything was on a down spiral.
I do understand catering ppl that work, I don`t understand thinking they`re braindead.

Until the day comes that I’m fighting for 2 hrs to capture a enemy castle no other game will ever reach the status of Dark Age of Camelot. Loved the Zerg vs Zerg clash in Castles. First outer walls then the inner courtyard and then the Lord fight. always fighting for every inch of the walls and dying, rezzing and panic that enemy calvary might arrive before the place would be secured…
Also infiltrating enemy castles (climbing outer wall. killing the npc guards) and lurking in the shadows for an enemy to be standing around afk in the courtyard. Best stealther kills ever.
Still miss anything comparing to it.

half our guild is 40+
Eve seriously has an outstanding bond with their community and have them informed and active talk about future implementations. They have great once a year information days party in norway (I think its norway) and talk alot with their attendees. It`s more like a family gathering than anything else from the videos I seen. Dev`s you can touch, drink and brawl with. One reason their playerbase and the company is so tight knitted. Also one of the only companies I know that employee core gamers into their dev teams…. you do notice. Played for quite a while still fantasy will stay my favourite.

46 here… more pve than pvp since DaoC. Done the pvp ladder climb once and it was a full time job staying in the top ten.
Having worked for a german desktop publisher in QA I really enjoy the overall quality of the work Anet`s doing (also update stability, many ppl have no idea about the work behind that) and still love to run around areas of Tyria enjoying the eye candy (I think their still pimping it here and there, might be me though) and ambience. Still hate that RNG hates me but I know I`m not the only one out there, so… yeah.
We dont know if we won`t be “boomeranging” back to Dry Top during the LS there are tons of skritt holes there. That might be one reason they didn`t apply seperate loot tables.
If you plan on making a mesmer never climb on anything higher than a beer crate otherwise you`ll have a crowd of ppl waiting on a portal to open up.
But yea I climbed on the mystic forge kettle at halloween waited for enough people to randomly stand around at the bottom. Opened a portal exit on the edge, jumped down, opened the entry on the ground and watched them slip and fall into the kettle.
Was fun.. feel bad for that now (maybe)..
Tried to rob a Charr with my Asura. Threatened to headnut his kneecaps if he wouldn`t hand over the dough. Didn`t work to well.
(edited by Eileane.3845)
its seems you lack any sense of humor… (I`ll keep any witty comment out of this reply…. you wouldn`t get it anyway)
;)
Being an Asura by heart, we could discuss the incongruity theory of course. But considering the way you commented my post reply Mr. Goose perhaps the superiority theory would be the one we`re looking for here.
(edit: found a typo, better correct that or who knows what comes next)

srsly, the only feathers I want to see in this game are the ones in my pillow.
the Master of Peace was trying to get AWAY from trouble by heading towards the west….
.. so the troubles in the EAST.
(mumbles and walks away)
In the Pale Tree vision, we didn’t know what we saw. In the last episode, in the Labyrinth, the player character explains that she saw the Pale Tree Cristal Desert vision. We now know that what we saw in that cinematic is Crystal Deset.
According to the wiki and what I saw, except Eir’s and Caithe’s recounting of Destiny’s Edge battle with Glint and Kralkatorrik – the climax of the novel Edge of Destiny – there is no mention of the Crystal Desert in the entirety of Episode 7 – and this was in the first instance (for Eir) and second instance (for Caithe), not the labyrinth (third instance). There is no mention of a “vision” “desert” or “crystal” in the labyrinth’s instance.
As for the PC talking about the vision, all the PC says is seeing an egg and a “golden location” which the PC suspects the Master of Peace is heading towards.
And the Master of Peace was heading west – the Crystal Desert is far across the continent, on the other side of Labyrinthine Cliffs where the Zephyrites left from. I don’t see us going to the Crystal Desert.
Though arguably one can saw we did go to the Crystal Desert – via the portal in the Durmand Priory basement, to Glint’s Lair.
yes and why is the Master of Peace running in the opposite direction?
To get as far away as possible…. but now that Caithe grabbed it I guess she will be intercepted by “someone” and we might actually land in the Crystal Desert after all… but only guessing on this.
I want to be abe to see Echovald Forest again :/
yep one of my fav places in GW1
if you take the new jungle suit for example they didn’t do a perfect job on it though.. the spy glass is to small.. even for an asura to use…. on the human the right sidebag on the hip is to large and on norn far to large…. seen that on a few armor and costume models now.
Looks great on a charr… almost as if that was the first dude they modeled it on.
yet another thing that keeps GW2 away from my “great” game list.. hoping for this to hit the game one day tho.
There are things that make it better than the others imho but the “great” stuff is still not implemented yet (for me at least).
1. Really nice housing where I can spend a long time and mats building it from rubble up to the highest possible model and show off my trophies. Tend farmland and not only those goofy nodes I got atm. Have npc helpers running around my housing I have to check back with from time to time or that inform me of things I have to take care of.
And
2. A Guildhall that feels like I`m in a important guild that we all build together from scratch with all the attached goodies. And I want to defend when other guilds think its time to bully us.
Would love the feature they had in DAOC where you could capture enemy guilds flags and have them as trophies in your own guildhall
Hmmm, some want it. some don’t.
I have a sort of solution
Mounts is the last paragraph on a housing suggestion I made some time ago
This!
Just the same thing I hope for GW2 to implement when they do housing… probably would be a huge material sink but hell yea!
Really happy to see I`m not the only player with nearly those exact thought flying around his mind.
If you check out the Codans and their icebergs with the Asian type housing on them I would think Cantha is still there- Probably has changed very very much and is a desolate ice desert now. Possibly even without any humans left on that continent.
We should send an Asuran expeditionary team over there to get more info.
(edited by Eileane.3845)
If Asura would have any mounts they would have hoverboards.
creativity for me starts with the player. Don`t get me wrong if you want to wear full armor sets as they come sure, why not. But its so easy to sit on my kitten and scream and yell for more content items I probably wouldn`t even need if I used my own fantasy just a little bit.
But Anet has a lot (and more coming) of armor set pieces to choose from.
Normally when I pimp my toons, their armors have 4-6 different set pieces on them, after that you will catch me coloring the stuff for hours until I`m really happy with it (tons of colors to choose from).
Atm, I made myself a council guard Asura. Took about 1.5 hrs but the end result is worth more than some sparkles popping out of her ears making her a “Vegas” toon. And, the good thing is my character looks like it came from the game designers as is, hence, makes me feel more like I fit in the games lore. I’m sure I`m not the only guy that does this, you might want to try it out.
(edited by Eileane.3845)
Please no. I rather see something from Guild Wars actual past (lore wise) then some real life event being mocked up in game. You could have the charr being chased out of Ascalon, when the humans first arrived. Or the war that happened just before the Foefire occurred. Or even go all the way back to when the human nations were at war with each other during the Guild Wars. So people actually know what the title stands for. Just no more out of place out of place stuff that does not directly relate to the in game material. Heck you can go to Field of Ruins and see Separatist humans and Renegade charr are still going at it.
yep, I also think a r/l related thing, like a war, does not belong in a fantasy universe. Things like that make GW2 a total turnoff.
Next thing you know you`ll have a Charr acting as Schwarzenegger knockoff and an Asura as Stallone. Both running around in the Maaguma jungle. One running from Predators (Destroyers) and the other freeing POW`s with Pact Choppers overhead….
and a new Living story chapter called “The Independables”…. oh yea…
(edited by Eileane.3845)
Anet has alot of things they could franchise. I bet Asura cuddlies would blast the market, just as an example. Or making a “Dungeon Siege” type game with miniatures (even with different versions of our beloved dungeons from the game, Arah table top offline woohoo!)… as a anniversary collectors item.
(edited by Eileane.3845)
do they even check the forum on weekends?
give my Asura a hover board!
(actually, I hope not, I don`t really see the need for a mount but hey, if others want it)
1) Skill
So ppl learn to use different setups and not a zerker grouped optimized, stack killable enemy. We have so many sigils/runes to choose from but usually zerker/stack is all ppl need.
Since this is a guild raid I think you can make these raids harder, ppl will be in ts3 and better to coordinate and mentored.
2) Unique rewards (no RNG!)
In a perfect world rewards that you can only receive during a certain season/year. Things other players later in the game will envy you for. Also making the content more replay driven and desirable. I know this will lock ppl (casual gamers) out of some things but the regulars need some destinction and reward for being around.
3) Access
Scalable/instanced… keep smaller guilds (10 ppl +) in mind please. Although I think access will be instanced because this is a no-brainer. Just adding this to get the top 3.
Bonus: A nemesis trying to destroy your guild and a new ally, making the story personal (it is a guild raid, your there for a good reason) And the game is called GW2.. give the guilds more of a reason to fight against something.
(edited by Eileane.3845)
DR is one of the best designed cities I ever seen in any MMO, I love walking around in that town and aren`t around that place enough. But every time I return I wish this was a place in rl…
never dropped one.. hardly use the mystical blackhole…. heard of other ppl dropping it but…
statisticly speaking this is rather rare…
