tl;dr: We’re working on it and hope to have a solution by December 2014, but we may not have it done by then.
Characters created after the April 15th feature pack have traits locked.
Money isn’t the only thing needed to unlock them, skill points are needed too. And they get progressively more expensive.
Could someone explain #1? Is it about trying to join WvW?
Boss Blitz in the Pavilion and trying to get into a map instance with friends/guildmates to go for Gold achievement.
Bumping because I went looking for it and I like the concept :p
Name: whatever you want to call me really, I’ve answered to a good few in the past in LotRO. Usually whatever my main character was at a given time. Elathan works pretty well though, it’s an old nickname and is the name of my elementalist (however little he’s ever been used.)
Main character: uncertain at the moment, but would like to work on my necro. I do have a level 80 guardian, but I’m woefully bad with her.
Current region/server: Fissure of Woe (EU) but I will be changing to Gandara (EU.)
Interested activities: I’d like to do dungeon runs, and will be popping into WvW every so often. Levelling my necro will be happening at whatever pace I can manage. I’ll also be playing an engineer with a friend (who I’ll introduce to this thread when we’ve got the basics sorted, like what class he’s playing and how to travel between starter cities :p) It would be nice to have access to other low level/noob players for learning the game together.
Active: uncertain at the moment, but probably on most days of the week.
Additional comments: Yeah, so I’m coming back to the game after approximately 9 months out of it (for personal reasons, rather than anything to do with the game itself,) and dragging a friend in with me for a bit of fun.
I was rubbish on my guardian and her gear was atrocious, but I try to listen and do my best. I have difficulty focusing on things though, so dungeons are strictly a casual thing for me – I don’t want to min/max, or play the meta (though no doubt some characters will fall into meta builds, just because I feel that’s what is best for them the way I play them.) I’m looking for something casual/relaxed, where there’s no pressure but that other people might be around to help out with things. However, I’ll not be totally reliant on the guild for everything – I’ve a couple of friends in the game who I’ll be hanging around with as well.
Like I say, I like the concept of this. I don’t know if you guys use anything like Teamspeak or other VOIP software, but if so I’m happy to log in to hang about. I may not say a lot, but I’ll be present. I’m from (Northern) Ireland, so my accent may be difficult for people anyway.
I expect to be back in game by Monday, since I’m waiting for a new computer to arrive and then have to download the game to it.
Member of the guild: Yup, that would be nice. Then I can see whether people are on, and stick a line in the chat about anything I’m thinking on doing.
Happy for contact: Yup, but not sure how much people are going to want to talk to me – I’m quite quiet unless I know people pretty well, and my game knowledge is sorely lacking.
Anyway, hope that’s good. Sorry it’s a bit wordy, I get like that sometimes.
Problem: how do you prove someone is AFK for the fight? They may be talking in guild or party chat, or private tells. The amount of work that would be added to the team dealing with reports would be massive, with little to no results for it. In addition, the amount of abuse that an ‘inappropriate behaviour’ report could be open to is pretty huge.
I’m not saying I agree with people getting credit for something they’ve done not very much for. But there has to be a better way than reporting them.
Have you tried the official wiki?
For example: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Plains_of_Ashford
It’s safe and secure so no risk of your computer getting hacked from it.
Most games do, yeah. TESO allows 5 guilds as well I believe, but older games are certainly more restricted.
Most games also don’t bother with different folders for contacts, and at least some link your friends list to each character rather than the account. Useful if you only use specific characters with specific people, but confusing when you’re trying to add your friend’s 5 characters to each list. Then max out at maybe 50 or 60 contacts.
I’m not saying the OP is a bad idea, but our 5 guilds are separate contact lists already. It may not be optimal for some, but it’s a hell of a lot better than some games and there are bigger priorities for the developers.
From what I’ve seen, a warrior is pretty forgiving of mistakes too. The warrior has higher base health than the guardian.
Every class has to dodge, not just the melee ones. It’s something you’ll have to get used to, and hopefully your latency won’t affect it too badly.
For Humans, we bring back the:
PARAGON
Spear Throwing Leaders!
Bring back Spear Skills, Chants and Echos
Add Spear Weapons Unique to Paragons
Uses Heavy ArmorForgive me if I’m mistaken, but didn’t the Paragon rely on the gods for their power in GW1?
If so, the current lore would prevent them from existing – the gods aren’t hanging around any more.
Someone dosent Know their Lore very well. In Guild Wars 1 the Gods werent around either, but they still channeled the power of the gods as did the Dervish. which they would have an even greater point being the Diciples of Kormir, who gave her life to become the Goddess of Truth.
I rely on a friend for lore to be honest, he played GW1 for years and was really deeply into it. I pretty much just played for the Hall of Monuments, and he carried me for that.
However, after a quick check on the GW1 wiki, i find this:
The presence of the True Gods can be felt in the present day when the world has earned the Favor of the Gods.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Gods
This would suggest that they were active during the time of GW1. While the corresponding page on the GW2 wiki doesn’t state they aren’t active any more, it’s fair to say that sites associated with them – the Promenade of the Gods and the Temple of Ages – are no more, and there is little in-game to point to their presence.
1. Nope to the gear, not sure on the exp.
2. Sadly not, I could do with it as well. See http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Personal_story_line for an overview of what happens.
3. Plenty of people wait with their personal stories. Nothing wrong with the idea.
4. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Experience for the amount of experience needed per level. Not quite the same amount per level it seems.
5. Crafting used to be 1-80 by doing ALL crafts on a single character (10 levels per craft maxed out.) It was more recently nerfed to 7 levels per maxed craft.
6. Queensdale train used to be a regular activity by players farming a number of champion level mobs in the Queensdale area. This has been removed from the game – the relevant mobs were downscaled to veterans or elites.
No to race-only professions.

Let’s not bother with such “minor” things. If Anet wants something, they’ll bend the lore however they want.
On the other hand, such lore conveniently gives them something to point to and say “Nope, not happening because of this.”

Hearts are the equivalent of other games’ quest givers. Green stars are your personal story quests.
Talk to the heart people after their requests have been fulfilled and you can get some weapons and armour from them. Dungeon armour comes from vendors in… Lion’s Arch? (Have they been moved with the destruction of LA? I’ve been out of the game a while, will be coming back in soon.) Otherwise, the Trading Post has a lot of stuff.
With the megaserver system, other people should be around on the map – though you might not see them right beside you. There’s a language filter on the chat that is enabled by default, hiding text from anyone using a different language client than you. (So if you’re using an English client, you won’t see messages from someone with a French client for example.)
For world bosses, check http://dulfy.net/2014/04/23/event-timer/ The codes such as [&BE4DAAA=] can be entered into in-game chat to link to the waypoint locations.
Why do you need a separate set of ascended armour for each of 21 characters?
Ascended gear is bound to account, it would make sense to keep one set of armour per weight and keep track of which character it is on.
And not sure I know where it’s confirmed, as it isn’t stated in the patch notes that I could see.
Port to the map and see if it’s completed.
Pretty much the only way there is nowadays.
Ahh I skipped that paragraph, cheers. I just read the bit that specified guilds, my bad.
So December is an estimated timeframe – not a guaranteed one.

Tl;dr: We’re working on it.
A user in another thread has said December 2014, but didn’t link their source for it. This was the most recent info I could find on it.
You mean when will guilds be fixed so that they’re one big guild, rather than being split into per-server chapters? They’re working on it.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-megaserver-system-guilds-and-the-future/
Probably not the most recent one, but the only one I could see on it.
Edit to add – December is mentioned on the link I have provided (just been told on another thread that I missed it.) It’s an estimated timeframe, not definite.

How would in game responses give skewed responses? Wouldn’t it give less of a skewed response than polls done in the forum?
On one hand, this is correct – but on the other, an in-game poll ignores feedback from players who, for whatever reason, aren’t in the game.
I’m not suggesting that a forum poll is better, it’s not – but an in-game poll has a requirement of logging into the game to give feedback. This suggests a basic level of satisfaction with the available content.
An in-game poll would increase the data available to the devs, which would be a good thing. So would a proper polling system on the forums. But all sources of data have pros and cons to them, and the devs have to decide what they consider most relevant to them.
Without PvP, MMO’s don’t last long. Imagine WoW without PvP, and only having PvE…. yeah, dead.
I don’t know about WoW, but try LOTRO’s PvP as endgame. It’s not good, and it was only put in as a sidegame in the first place. The endgame there (such as it is) is PvE. I haven’t played it for some time because I got bored with the PvE, but from what I hear it’s not getting any better and PvP is still not a main focus for the devs there.
Without PvP, LOTRO would be fine. A few less moaners, that would be the biggest difference.

This says it is only available during Halloween.
If it’s been available for both previous Halloweens, then I’d guess it will show up during the next one as well. I don’t know for sure though.
Every Heal skill is ineffective at keeping you alive for a drawn out battle.
Heal skills are there as an emergency button.
You’re supposed to avoid taking the damage in the first place, by playing carefully, dodging, and generally not getting hit.
If you’re referring to GW1, then yes it’s part of the GW2 universe. I think the problem the moderators have with discussing it is the fact that people were discussing it as a separate game, especially since there are relevant forums out there for such discussion.
If you’re referring to some other game, then no it isn’t part of the GW universe.

friend of mine who put in his ticket on saturday night (UK time)
seems to have been hacked, since his account is active atm and he’s not able to get in.
Yet there are those intent on removing all choice and limiting things based on their belief system.
The OP clearly states he has no problems with other people wearing skimpy armor and does not want those removed.
Did anybody bother to read the post?
Nope, tl;dr.
But I actually agree with the OP, it would be nice to have more practical looking armours be released.
Yes, it shows cleavage, gods forbid a set has any sexuality.
Unfortunately the number of sets which are sexually appealing rather than practical is rather high. It’s possible to get practical outfits, but it’s disappointing for some of us that aesthetically pleasing, practical armours are in short supply.
For the record, I’m a guy who just finds the skimpier armour to be annoying.
