How about if we go with celestial on trinkets and weapons too? Would that be viable?
How about if we go celestial on trinkets and weapons too (a.k.a full celestial)? Would that be viable as hybrid build?
Is the power trade off worth going full celestial in pve/dungeons/wvw? Or instead, only using celestial pieces in low value conversion rate items (like jewel slots) is better?
Also are there any build calculator websites with celestial items added yet?
I’m not a hardcore player…at least not anymore. I’ve collected 250 dragon coffers total since the Dragon Bash started. And I’ve opened all of them today and got bunch of Zhaitaffy and 2x Dragon’s Jade Claim Tickets.. No mini. No food. Here’s RNG for you.
My friends and guildies hates me now because o’mighty RNG god smiled upon me.
Yes sure, because every other profession has giant backpacks for people to understand what weapon set they are using right? Right? Wrong.
If people have trouble figuring out what kit an Engi is using, then they are utter kittens.
Mix in some Cavalarier, Knight and Valkyrie. If you do it right, you won’t affect your damage in a notable fashion yet still end up with the same damage reduction as a ‘bunker’ thief. Min/maxing is the key.
And what’s the right ratio to mix them exactly? I’d really appreciate if you can give me some insight.
Thank you for giving me an insight on the matter.
• So which item prefixes are mostly used by thieves?
• What’s the best way to get/balance enough survivability without cripple damage so much?
• Which one is prefered most toughness or vitality? I know glass cannons aren’t suited for WvW (except maybe solo/small party roaming).
My question is specifically for WvW zergs and maybe for high level FotM to some extent.
I’m thinking of creating a thief since few of my friends seems to enjoy playing with thieves a lot (even though there is all kinda hate in forums for thief profession).
I know thieves are great solo roamers… But is it true that they just melt in big zerg vs zerg fights because of random AoEs? My friends seem to die. A lot. Generally speaking on zerg fights they seem to really struggle. If they are not standing back and nuking things with their bow they seem to be dead.
Either I’m missing the mechanics or thieves has such terrible base health, low armor, and no damage mitigations. Is not getting hit only way to survive?
Does anyone have any hints on surviving? Any hints to enhance survivability without cripple damage so much? What kind of equipments mostly used by pro-thieves?

As OP pointed out; this game is based on cosmetics mostly. Even end-game is based on cosmetics. Dungeon armors serves only to provide skins. People spend hours and hours on cosmetics, buying RNG boxes for hundred of dollars just to get few new skins. Works months to get their shiny legendary weapons…which are basicly just cool skins.
And just by choosing engineer class you miss out on a lot of game content. You can’t show off with your legendary weapon like other classes since you won’t be using it half of the fight. Because of hobo sacks you can’t show your back items and sometimes even shields. So basicly you miss out end-game (Legendary? What’s the point right?) and the fun of showing off with your cool looking toon. And that’s important for lots of people… You can see that just by looking RNG box madness.
Some people might like having hobo sacks while using kits. So getting rid off them completely is out of the question. But ANet should at least give us a toggle to hide or show hobo sacks. Because some people clearly doesn’t like them. (I can live without getting a legendary for my engineer though… Since I love using kits.)
There are similar topics at other classes’ sub-forums.
So I’m curious, what kind of build/stat spread do you find most effective in different aspects of the game (PvE, WvW Roaming, WvW Zergs, sPvP, tPvP)?
I’m wondering what spread of stats (power, precision, toughness, critical chance, critical damage, power, healing power, boons etc.) will be most effective? I know most thiefs running with glass cannon specs. What about survivability? Is it possible to achieve decent survivability without being dependant to much on stealth?
I’ve got another respond for this issue… Here it is :
I understand that it can be frustrating not to see immediate results based on your in-game report. Keep in mind that even if we are able to verify a report made through the game it can take time to resolve the issue. The exact amount of time can vary wildly based on the severity and complexity of each issue.
It is important to remember that reports submitted in-game go directly to our QA team for investigation. All reports of this nature will need to be submitted in-game so that QA can attempt to verify and reproduce the issue.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

Engineers are masters of technology and the pioneers into the new age. Since the fall of the flame legion, Engineers have played a vital role in the shaping of the current world of Tyria.
Since engineering originating mostly with the charr technology, I wonder how human engineers fit in the lore?
Human engineers might originate from their need to survive and adapt, sure. But I’d really like to hear some creative opinions on the matter.
1. Grenades #1 as an autoattack.
2. Heavy armor instead of medium.
3. Some more weapon choices maybe?
(edited by Erdem.8956)
1. Balance & diversity in builds.
2. More game modes.
3. Better progression & rewards.
Focus completly kills your damage. The fire spells and water spells are so bad that imo wouldnt matter if earth 5 could make you invulnerable for 10000 years.
I would use it! Immortal Elementalist here I come! ANet please make this happen, I wanna be invulnerable for 10.000 years.
I’ve got a vague respond from a GM about this issue.

Bump for fix.
Because I have this issue for some time now.
That title doesn’t have anything to do with jumping puzzle. Why? Because you have to complete 25 achievements to get it. So you can get that title without doing the Islet sample. That’s about it. If you did the jumping puzzle, good for you mate, want a candy?
I’ve completed all the jumping puzzles in game long looong before The Secret of Southsun living story. Lots of people did. What did we get doing all of them? Other than some RNG items and handful of achievement points; nothing. No title, no nothing.
Get a fishing rod and some southsun punch. At the around the 35 seccond mark try and get the crab from leader (Sooner if you’re confident with your skills with the rod.) Dash away, dodge twice, drink the punch, dodge twice, Dash again.
By now the game should be over and you should be enjoying your achivement. Remeber you can hold down the dash key to dash further.
Just FYI; that’s not how you get Crabtacular achievement.

Do people really have to create multiple topics all around the forum (about same issue) just to get a decent response from devs? Really ANet?
I found it funny that some people act like they get this achievement with their pro skills. I got this achievement after few hundred games. I won’t act like I lure them with my magnetic personality and got crabtacular with my pro skillz! It was all dumb-luck. You can’t get this achievement if there is even one person who knows how to dodge karkas.
You can’t “kite” or “lure” other players to karkas, they aren’t AI. If one person just stands at the corner and go afk in all your games you’re done for. Suddenly you’re not that skilled, are ya?
It should be changed as soon as possible. I really like getting achievements by working hard for them. Putting an luck based achievement is just bad design.
I main a warrior (yes i’m the weakest profession in PvP since the beginning, hello) and I have almost all classes at Lv.80. Since I like challenges I’m sticking with my warrior even in tPvP.
Mesmers are balanced IMO. They are the natural -if you don’t mind me saying- noob-stomper. So they are only seems OP to the people who doesn’t know how to fight against them. When you find the real Mesmer among all the illusions (which all experienced player can find him without even trying) you can cut him like butter. Put enough pressure on them and they’ll burn all their mobility skills and became vulnerable in few mere seconds. They are not the most durable class you know, their survivability comes from their mobility and their ability to hide in plain sight via illusions.
And they are the class with the most bugs in game for a long time. They have so many bugs in core skills of their builds for months without fix, even I haven’t played with my mesmer for months.
It’s all boil down to learn to play issue when it comes to mesmers. I don’t really like to see this term in all over the forum. But in this case it is true. That doesn’t mean learn to play your own class. It means you have to learn to play other classes as well. So that you can see through their abilities.
Even devs are said it at the last SOTG (you can listen yourself). I don’t really remember who said it but if you don’t mind me quoting : “Mesmers are in a good place right now.”

Concerned players doing tests of their own… These are the results. It’s not a floater issue…
and there is a flat damage reduction on top of the hitting issue.
lions arch dummys cant be missed or crit as far as i know. and the izerker does not move while damaging them so there is no path issue. damage pre patch 4400 damage post patch 3300 max. there is either a flat damage reduction to all hits or there is a “floater issue” not counting one hit. but there is more then one issue in this issue. missing and damage reduction per hit.
Video (sorry forgot to unmute sound): iZerker bug
Number of hits:
3, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 2, 3, 2, 3, 2
As if this was not enough…
Keep these topics alive mates until we get a respond from ANet.
They should fix certain significant class bugs before doing so called “balances”. iZerker is bugged for almost 5 months now. 5 months! And there is no single attempt to fix it apparently. As if this was not enough, now it’s broken even more.
Let’s keep this topic alive until we get a respond from ANet.
PS: I suggest changing topic’s title to something it would address our problems more clear.

How many guild consumables (guild quests, training bounties, banners, buffs, etc.) you can build without using them? Is there a stack limit for them?
Asura are magical and technological loving. They’re a bit individualistic and egotistical, viewing themselves as the smartest and thus top race. As said in Eye of the North, get three asura in a room and you’ll have four opinions. They prefer to be the brains behind operations and, more often than not, let others do the dirty work. Though they don’t mind having some risk to learning and experimenting.
In general Asura simply a very “brains over brawn” race. So they tends toward to magically advanced professions. Most common professions among Asura are elementalists and mesmers. Guardians can be seen often too (a.k.a. Peacemakers). Maybe even some engineers.
Player can choose any profession with any race combination of course but lore-wise warrior doesn’t suits to Asura at all, IMHO.
Thiefs? I don’t see it. But meh, maybe. I saw some pirate Asura npcs in game. They might be thiefs but if they are, it’s still odd and rare profession for an Asura.
But these shouldn’t stop you to make whatever profession you want. You can create a very different and eccentric background for your characters. Even if you choose to be a warrior, you can think of him as a “fight smarter, not harder” kinda Asura.
