We need a Mystic Curio recipe for these. Their value is very low, and have little use except when you want to make the gear. Which is sure to dry up soon after the launch of expansion. They can just be added to the list of choices to make curios with.

OMG why hasn’t this been fixed yet. I had a friend who tied to reinstall a few days ago so they could get some stuff on the gem store. They couldn’t get to install on their open drive and they ran out of room. After 2 days they just gave up and said nevermind. I myself just replaced my HDD with kitten, its super small and just for the OS. I cant install on my HDD, why? Why is this not fixed? Its been almost 2 weeks since I found out. Why was it even removed?? The support page still says “Click the red Install Guild Wars 2 button, choose the installation location, and click OK to begin the installation process.”

Yes I am dramatically upset. But really……why isn’t it fixed?

Dragon's Revelry Starcake bugged

Evil Octopi.8253

I posted this on reddit, but thought I should also drop it here.

After eating a Dragon’s Revelry Starcake, my stats are only showing a +40 instead of +45 to all stats as it says in the food description.

As a side note, the Runes of Divinity say +xx to “All Stats”, but do not apply their bonuses to the Expertise or Concentration stat. They remain at zero. I assume this is related to the Celestial attributes which do not include Expertise or Concentration. With the recent rework to both of those stats, I guess this slipped by.

I myself would love to see every attribute be added to Celestial and Divinity gear going forward.

Crystalline Ore for Unbound Magic

Evil Octopi.8253

Im all for map currencies, and I don’t think machetes need a buff or some kind exchange of “x item” for crystalline orr. What we do need is a crystalline ore node for either the guild hall or the home instance. And this is because for some STUPID reason, crystalline ore is a map currency, a guild hall currency, and a crafting material.

So really, if they aren’t going to give us a node, then how about ditching the guild hall currency and use commendations, or the combo of leyline sparks, airship oil, and auric dust.

Order Armor and weapons are not sellable?

Evil Octopi.8253

The armor and weapons for the 3 orders are not vendible, salvageable, or forgeable. I don’t understand this. I am not sure what the logic for this is aside from maybe not wanting players to gain ecto out of it, but its not that cheap. And I want to the say the same is not true for racial armor and weapons. Granted those cost a great deal more than the order gear does. Originally we could just buy what we wanted to unlock a skin or actually use the gear. But now we have collections, and those require that we purchase every single item from an order to complete it. Seriously this should have been changed when these collections were rolled out. Being able to vending them for a few silver when they cost 1-5g each, and I would have barely even noticed.

At the vendor with my inventory of 40 items and I cant sell it, grrr. Try to salvage it instead, nope, Grrrr. Try to put in the mystic forge, nope, GRRRRRR………URGE TO KILL RISING

[Suggestion] Sunless Inscription

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Evil Octopi.8253

With the new mystic forge recipes to change stats on existing ascended weapons, it would be great to be able to create the Sunless weapons as well. Since they are supposed to be rare, I would suggest something more involved than using the exotic inscription.
I was thinking since the stat combo is “rabid”, why not create a new mystic forge recipe using the ascended Grizzlemouth’s “rabid” inscription + mini Tequatl + Rune of the Sunless + Carved Bone Spoon to get the a new Sunless inscription to use with the new stat changing mystic forge recipe.

This Sunless recipe would make it more involved and costly for a player since its using an ascended inscription, thus still retaining some exclusivity of the drop. A player could of course buy the Grizzlemouth recipe and craft the inscription themselves, or buy the complete inscription off the trading post. This Sunless recipe would probably increase value for the mini Tequatl and Rune of the Sunless as well, both of which are at all time lows on the trading post. The spoon is account bound, so a player will have to actually do the event and aquire the spoon in order to complete the recipe.

Tequatl’s Hoard is ultra rare as a drop with many players never getting one after hundreds of runs. I think it would be great for players to be given an alternate avenue that is not so heavy on the RNG in order to acquire a Sunless weapon.

No No No. Do not tell people its ok to AoE at copper. If you tell people its ok to AoE, people are going to AoE at copper. While I am happy to hear there is a better way to do it, and I will certainly change what I do going forward. To tell people its ok to AoE as long as its on bubbles is not the right answer. AoE is not a finely tuned, tight area of burst focus damage.

If the bubble is near Copper, then it’s going to heal him anyways.

Maybe you should learn how the boss works before you tell people what to do.

I do know how the boss works. This change in tactics the OP recommending for bubbles is sure to help some folks adjust. But I think it is you and the other folks spouting its ok to use AoE are the ones don’t understand Coppers basic mechanics. He is a husk. He is resistant to direct damage. He is vulnerable to condition damage. Even the wiki lists direct damage is significantly reduced. Those AoE skills you are touting are wasted on him. You don’t even address how if you are not traited for condition damage you shouldn’t even be there. That full strength DPS could better utilized on Amber and Gold/Silver.

I run Copper almost exclusively because I’m traited for condi. I’ve been on those runs where 3min are left on the clock. There was no AoE. When you see that health drop like a stone its not AoE, its full stacks of bleed, full stacks of vulnerability, poison, burning, torment. I run staff elementalist until breach, and then I adjust to battle Copper. I switch to scepter/dagger though I only use skill 1 and pour on those bleeds. Do you even watch the stacks. I do. Those failures, those close calls, are not caused by lack of AoE. They are caused by players not keeping up full conditions on boss.

AoE is not the answer!

AoE is not a finely tuned, tight area of burst focus damage. Its a WIDE UNFORGIVING LONG LASTING AREA OF EFFECT. What is in it can change in an instant. If we need to kill those bubbles, then tell folks to go in there and kill them away from the boss, don’t say AoE them. Players are going to see others using AoE and think its ok to do, just spam away on as much red as possible. You cant tell them its only bubbles away from boss. Some players don’t even have map chat on to read any explanation you give them. They are going to work off what they see. And as for the regen, you are right it is negligible and doesn’t heal him much. But what you get is a health bar that doesn’t move or it just creeps in one direction or the other.

10/11 Wintersday Achievement

Evil Octopi.8253

I am a bit upset at this as well, 10/11 Wintersday Festivities completed. Opening the meta achievement lists out the 11 activities you HAVE to complete. Not sure why they would even make such a strict change like this. I mean, not everyone likes everything that is available. Having to complete 11 out the only 11 available doesn’t really make sense to me. If the other achievements on the Wintersday festival tab counted towards the meta, complete 11 out of these 15 then that would make sense. That or lowering threshold to 9 of 11 or 10 of 11.

Evil Octopi.8253

Sorry, I’ve been Wintersday’n.

It is a ridiculous amount! And I do craft ascended items, just not at the impressive rate of one every five days. I tend to stick to weapons, as again, the biggest problem for armor is the rate of acquisition for T2-T4 fabric mats vs ascended mats. They are not in balance. Anet has been great in adding the fabrics to chests and rewards recently. In fact if not for that, I wouldn’t even be able to make armor. But since those same loot instances provide more ascended mats than can be used with the regular fabric mat drops, it adds to the issue.

Now its just my style of play, almost exclusively PvE. I don’t dungeon except to get tokens for legendary gifts, don’t PvP, don’t WvW, and I don’t fractal. I keep everything I get and I very very rarely buy anything off the TP. Even if I had tons of gold, I wouldn’t buy the T2-T3 mats to make ascended stuff. I would be getting them myself the hard way. I play the game how I like, and its not really a problem to struggle for them. I have played since beta, clocked in at over 5200 hours, 2 map completes, 11 characters (all races/professions covered) in at least exotics, 15.5k achievement points, 3 legendary, and magic find at 208, all done the hard way. I already have 150 each bricks and ingots, and about 50 stars. The glut of unrefined ascended mats was just something I noticed when I consolidated them all into my bank. I thought since this was occurring to me it might be occurring to others. My suggestion was just the simplest solution I could think of that would probably have the least impact on the game. I appreciate the feedback, but I was really hoping to see more of “this might work” or “this is not a good idea because”. Deleting excess is not the appropriate answer for players like me.

Now the new Christmas Star has be great to help tame the ascended glut, and that’s an acceptable solution. I expect to see something for dragonite ore soon as well. Hopefully it will not be the fail that is Maudrey. Since I don’t fractal I cant complete. I have everything built except for the fractal relic part. If it is happening to me, its probably happening to others as well. Stuck with increasing dust we cannot get rid of. Thanks again for the input, I just wanted to help and thought I could suggest something that maybe was not thought of.

Evil Octopi.8253

It’s a gold sink, and it’s clearly doing its job well.

Once you have all that you’re going to need for crafting, delete the rest and move on.

Well I wouldn’t say its clearly doing its job well, unless it was purposely designed to clog inventories. The issue here is balance, and these mats don’t have it. Now I was not saying remove the gold sink, only to adjust it so that players can more easily manage glut vs cost. You even contradicted yourself in your argument. You said its a gold sink and doing its job well, yet you are recommending deleting excess as solution. As I said before, that is not a good idea. A deleted item does not sink gold.

Just because you don’t value the item, doesn’t mean everyone else does too. Some folks like myself keep everything they get in game. We don’t sell it nor do we buy it from other players, not when we can go out and get it ourselves. I guess you can say I’m a hoarder, but I’m sure there are a few more out there like me with full inventories.

But I do agree with you, If I do delete it, and then need more for some reason, it’s not going to be hard to go and find more. The game rains pink after all.

[Suggestion] Adjust obsidian refinement

[Suggestion] Adjust obsidian refinement recipes *original title was too long :/

I suggest adjusting the recipes to use only 1 or 2 reagents per 100 dust, ore, or fragments instead of 10.

Currently, to refine bloodstone dust, dragonite ore, or empyreal fragments a player must use 2 obsidian shards and 10 thermocatalytic reagents per 100. Right now 10 reagents cost a player 14s96c. I am currently sitting on more than 22k dust, 23k ore, and 9k frags (8 bank tabs worth) and I can no longer afford to refine them. At the current ratio it would cost me around 80g to refine (50 more than I have). And if this is situation is occurring to me, it is likely occurring to other players as well. I believe this price/ratio is acting as a barrier to players drowning in these ascended mats.

I thought about some of the alternative solution/arguments that might come up.

Use Maudry – I don’t have one, and only address’s dust in a time gated manor anyway (for now).
Let us vendor them – Not a good idea, gold generation instead of gold sink. I realize the game needs gold sinks, and this is one of them. Adjusting the recipe would still achieve that, but refinement needs to keep up with the influx.
Delete them – Not a good idea, wasteful. Why give as loot if we are just going to delete. Even junk item drops are worth copper.
It’s only a temporary solution – Players will eventually reach their bank cap for ingots, bricks, and stars. This is true, but I as a player would rather have a reduced number of refined item stacks in my regular bank tabs than the huge number of unrefined mats. My numbers for example would condense 8 bank tabs to 3 bank spaces. The rate of using additional bank spaces to store them would also be greatly reduced.
Not fair to other players who already refined – It is not fair, but I am one of those players too. I have currently 149 bricks, 173 ingots, and 23 stars. I have already made several ascended weapons and a full set of ascended heavy armor and still have this supply left. I would be a little upset, but I see this as a reasonable solution to the HUGE GLUT of raw ascended mats.
Keep making ascended items to use them up – This is not feasible. To use them a player will need all the other regular mats to make ascended items. The rate of acquisition of the regular mats does not keep in step with ascended mat acquisition.
Anet will never do this – This is not true. They have already set precedents for adjusting refinement recipes. In the past, they have adjusted recipes for the numbers of needed raw fabric and wood. Not exactly the same as a vendor supplied reagent I know, but raising the ascended mat quantity to adjust the ratio did not seem logical.

Heck, at this point I would be happy if Anet removed these ascended mats from Chest/drop/loot tables and let us purchase the completed brick, ingot, or star from the vendor instead. Then I could just buy it when I need it like I do for obsidian shards. There is no point to having it in crafting if I can’t craft it.

Any thoughts on this from other players?

Something is definitely wrong. Full dps from start, no loot. Walk up to almost dead watchknight, shoot with rifle 3 times, get loot. Today so far no loot at all. New patch says nothing about a fix. I’ll give them one more round. If I get nothing, these guys are off the table until we can get some kind of official clarification. I see no point in continuing to fight them, especially when after I get put onto one of Scarlet’s platforms with 1 other player, while the rest of the map is fighting on the other platform. I can’t even put my trust in that part of the event. Pretty upsetting.

Please yes. This event has had terrible loot since launch. Always 4 items. I did a couple of runs since latest patch. 3 blues and 1 green jewel. Worse then entry level meta events. And Megadestroyer chest is a large one so one would expect more loot. This is my favorite event, so much more fun than the static dragons run up and chop their hands stuff. And considering this one requires more teamwork to get runing it seems like it sould be rewarded better.

As for Final Rest, we know it was mentioned in this thread somewhere. My top 3 guesses.

1. Megadestroyer
2. Shadow Behemoth
3. Zho’qafa Catacombs

I hit the first two a lot, Zho is just so hard to get people to join in for.

Bashing Bauxite Alchemicals

I’ve progressed that meta event to the final stage, but never actually completed it myself. I have seen it completed (I arrived just in time to see the conversation the wiki notes follows completion of the last step). However, I don’t think you can ever use the portal, and suspect there’s no chest from the boss.

Doing the final event (Destroy the Mark II golem) spawns a “Secure Container” chest and grants you access to the asura portal, which teleports you outside to the EVAC-U-ATOR 9000 karma merchant.

In that case, it seems like a perfect candidate for the drop. It’s so incredibly rarely done but grants a chest. Honestly, I’d be surprised if the grand total of times my entire server had completed it was more than 5.

Yeah it’s rarely done on my server too, last time I tried it i couldn’t figure how to get inside so I gave up, I think it might have to do with the inquest just in the path below holding a key to the lab but I aggroed a lot and died.

My group just finished this meta event for the second time just to comfirm. The event very enemy heavy, and a suffers from wall glitchs. The chest that spawns at completion is very small. Almost a joke if you ask me. Both times it gave 3 items. First time was all blues, second was 2 blues and a green.

Karas the Undying

Karas the Undying is one of several unique spawns in the open world: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/events/Defeat-the-Ministry-Guards-event/first#post1414250 and none of these solo’able events (good for monthly) provide a chest. I’ve been using /kneel far too often when passing through a graveyard or just about any suspicious object. (or /threaten the object. /threaten and /kneel are the only emotes I’ve discovered to prompt an event or interaction with open world objects)

How goes the progress to identify all loot chests, so that the unique named one(s) can be listed as the potential loot chest(s) that would have a unique loot table which possibly contains the rare Final Rest? Presuming, that it requires a unique chest on account that the other Large chests associated with Temples and World Bosses have been looted many times since launch and some feel it would have been discovered by now.

Awww, here I thought I found something not yet discovered. Oh well. It caught me by surprise in my hunt for rare bosses. Still a neat event for anybody wanting to try and do everything.

And I’m totally with you on Final Rest not being in the Dragon or Temple boss chests. Those are done way too often for it to not have popped up yet. The other big chest meta events don’t get near as much love and therefore don’t have a good population sampling. So maybe one of those. My group has been hitting them every chance we get.

As for your idea on the loot table identification for boss chests, I have been working on that a little as well. I can only confirm the named items my group has acquired. I had high hopes that eventually over time and the process of elimination we would have narrowed down loot tables to particular boss chests. Maybe if someone is already working on this on a different thread not particularly focusing on Final Rest.

So far I have:

Ancient Chest (Megadestroyer)
Silence – staff
Drakevenom – shortbow

Dragon Chest (The Shatterer)
Claws of the Desert – dagger

An item of concern is that I also acquired Zho’s Leggings from a level 50 veteran the other day. Up to that point I had assumed that any non-chest exotic drop in lower areas would be generic. Now I wonder what named exotics the tables hold for open world foes at all levels.

Okay guys and girls. I just did an odd event in Malchor’s Leap that is somewhat interesting. It is not listed on the wiki. It is “Defeat Veteran Karas the Undying”. When he spawned he said “who disturbs my rest?” He is located a little south west of the Seal of Union POI or north west of Rayhan Bayt POI. This is in the bottom right of the map. There is what looks like a sacrificial altar with skulls in the middle. The eyes of the skulls were lit up before I woke him up and not lit after i killed him. You just have to kneel at alter. He wasnt too hard, and he generated a few spawns. No chest though. But maybe part of a larger chain? There was a NPC in the far corner of the map. I will check this out in more in depth tommorrow. I ran out of time tonight.

I have been following this topic for a while now in few different places, as I was interested in the staff when I was creating a necro. I currently hold the opinion that whatever is wrong with the DR is responsible over all for the scarcity of this particular drop. That and bugged event chains. But that aside, I have not given up hope. I’ve seen lots of good suggestions in this thread and a few to make as well. Its definately not going to be found in the in any of the temple or dragon chests. Those places are done with great frequency and Final Rest should have surfaced by now if there .

My recommendations ~

The Bloodtide Coast event Campaign Against Taidha Covington is a prime candidate that needs be explored. Wiki information on it is limited and it was another one of those events that was frequently bugged on my server so I have never had the opportunity to complete.

The Straits of Devastation: The Zho’qafa Catacombs chain makes sense to me. The end chest is rather large. On my server it was either always bugged or nobody would ever come help complete it. I myself have only done it once, and of course chest loot was blues and greens like 99% of every other chest I open. Also the event taking place at near the Broken Spit Waypoint I have never completed it. The times I tried it seemed to be bugged. No idea if it is part of larger chain or if a chest even spawns. Another area I find of interest in the Straits even though I cannot confirm the events that go on there is the Plaza of Lost Wisdom. Its place off the beaten path that is only visited by map completionists and the story line. It’s in the water and I find its look and placement to be suspect.

I like the Shadow Behemoth also as a candidate with main reason is that it was bugged for so long and didn’t have accurate sampling from people compared to other chest events. I have just recently began farming this event since the update.

The Mount Maelstrom event is also another good candidate, and one I can speak to as I have a lot of experience on it. I can confirm the exotic “Silence” staff and the “Drakevenom” shortbow come from the Ancient Chest that spawns after deafeating the Megadestroyer. Current counts from the trading post are rather high so possibly these items can also be acquired from the forge as well. I had been doing this event rarely, and always had the same problem, not enough people. Me and my friends completed it maybe once every 2 weeks up until about 2 months ago when one of us got the “Silence” drop from the chest. Now we hit it up 5 or more times a week. The “Drakevenom” actually dropped today to a different friend. But zero exotics from chest in between this time. If we are lucky one yellow a week from chest and I have had one or two dry weeks too. I did get an exotic level 76 weapon off the Megadestroyer himself once. Most often its a blue or nothing, never a yellow or green.

So I just wanted to put my thoughts out there and help out. I tried to update the wiki with the exotic drops infromation too, but it seems I am not smart enough to do it.
