Condi reaper’s dps is reliant on the adds. The more horrors you can spawn, the more bleeds you stack. Besides if you can pull the double epidemic trick you can get some crazy numbers.

Oh and for the joke about engies having more sustain than necros : I afk in green circles everytime along engies… the difference ? I have to pick up the sorry kittens every time.

This is an issue with the support classes rezzing the person. No one can be rezzed under super cleaving conditions.

Blowing all three stances simultaneously is generally bad play. Key word generally.
There is usually kiting terrain around that extends your lifetime.

Double bs.

1) the issue is being down, don’t blame the supports for doing their job. You know revs can shadow step and catch you from anywhere.

Theres nothing more annoying than hard focusing a target, being on the verge of killing it only to see it up again because of a kitten rallybot. In my whole experience to legendary, I might have encountered maybe one warrior that wasn’t completely useless (must have been a rampage warri in saphire, stopped seeing warriors in diamond and past that).

2) try kitting a decent rev, I double dare you.

I’ve duelled wars enough to know when you are low on health you are 100% reliant on stances before being dead. And if you’re kitting you aren’t getting the precious heals from the eles. So yeah, what ?

Warrior is pretty much the only class that doesn’t have a burst of healing to sustain itself, and its passive healings are just obsolete and negligeable.

It came to me as pretty obvious when duelling them as a revenant, i could let myself being hit multiple times, and easily heal up from life steal or infused light in no time. Warriors on the other hand are pretty much dead once their stances are out. Besides, their skills are so telegraphed and/or cc-reliant it’s pretty easy to play around.

Same thing i observed for the thief, I shouldn’t be able to rotate my heals against a burst glass canon in a glass amulet. But w/e

Back to the topic, based on my experience when going in ranked it’s just annoying to have to pick up downed warriors. Mostly because when you down a warrior, even if you put him back up he’s still a bother as he’s blown his defensive cds and is just going to fall again. Also, he’s endangering the team and giving opportunities to enemy cleave. And believe me, you don’t wanna rez when revs under impossible odds are spamming you.

It feels like the special child that requires extra care because he’s physically challenged.

So yeah, i’m not sorry for being apathetic at welcoming a handicap.

Top meta classes after balance?

Like many, I suspect the top 3 classes to be reaper, daredevil and scrapper.

What I find very interesting, is that each of these classes seem to be weak/strong against another.

Thief is likely to burst down the necro, while not having that much boons he won’t be affected that much by corruption.

Scrapper on the other hand has mighty defenses even in glasscanon setup, he will likely stall and win on the long run vs thieves (just like he would do against Revenants 1v1 who couldn’t pressure them enough). But since this class is very boon-reliant, the necro-corruption will be devastating to them.

Tempest will adapt as fresh air, and my spvp elem mains are delighted to be back at ‘skilled gameplay’ with trashing away the cele ammy. According to them, the burst will be very good for cleaving downed opponents and potential rezzers from afar, now that quickness does not affect the rezzing.

Mesmers are in a hard spot, and I guess only those with a deep uunderstanding of the class will shine and succeed with it now.

Guardians will probably go back to bunkering, although the necro over-buff makes their viability questionnable.

Warriors… will stay in pve.

Druids are also hit by the removal of the cele ammy, but the pet damage was increased so i’ve got no worries about their dueling capabilities.

But wasn’t DS trait OP due to the bunker meta, condi spam and celestial amulet making everyone hit like wet noodles ?

From what i’ve seen, anet is determined to get rid of any defensive amulet so the current DS trait would have been useless anyway. Proof of that being DS trait has always existed but wasn’t declared OP until recently. The cele d/d elem didn’t use it if I recall.

TL;DR – no, the ele wasn’t nerfed. It got changes so that it would adapt to the upcoming heavy offensive meta we’ll get to see with fresh air revamp. The new DS trait is actually a buff considering how necros will apply boon corruption now.

So yeah. You have really no place to complain and devs definetely know better than you lol

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t like women declining their gender either – it has no relevance to the performance in gaming and having to underline it kinda validates the common ideas about the ‘gamer girls’.

If you are referring to chronobunkers their time are indeed brought to an end. It feels exactly how rampage warriors have felt short after their happy times of stomping those pesky blind-spamming thieves by pressing 2-3 keys.

I’ve been trying a few shatter builds, but just can’t get that HoT feel of damage (chrono/dom/duel), sustain (illusions) and condi clear (mantras) that scrappers & druids have. Yet no notice of them having a nerf, eh.

Chronomancer is not too powerful. It’s sin is that it short circuits “zerk” instant kill attacks. In doing so, it bruises the egos of players.

After all, no one wants to be beaten by some ephemeral caster class that is about light and color. That’s almost like being beaten by a girl.

What’s the problem with getting beaten by a girl if she’s better / more experienced than me ?

A dc is considered as a forfeit which is severly punished by the system for god saken kiten reason.

I’d rather have the stealth rez and instant finish than “invulnerabilities” that take condies and AoE cleave on a profession that can’t handle being in a teamfight.

Or a rev for the same reasons as the war, but as a safer pick (AoE cleave from range, blocks and resistance for complete damage mitigation).

Sorry for the double post but I think there’s a thing I should clarify.

I’m not questioning about Warrior’s ability to get out of the fight, I know that just fine. My question is and has always been his staying power in teamfights.

You can get out of CC but you can’t stay in fight.

That is my main issue. I don’t want a guy that just runs away when the enemy gazes them.

And yeah i’ve played warrior mostly GS/Hamer and ShoutBow (champion title) but not so much the Berserker.

Gunflame makes for a fairly easy mechanism to hit things thanks to its range and speed.

Greatsword Arc Diviner has a huge aoe range. If you miss with this then you’ve got other problems XD

If blinds are a problem its usualy because you’re facing something with spammable access (see thieves). If that’s the case, if you’re not running healing sig you’re doing it all wrong. Activate that to proc your resistance, ignore the blinds, and go to town. That’ll hold off any condi effects AND clear off anything long standing with cleansing ire.

Ez bloody pz.

Oh and take high HP so if you miss a few, ohwell.

Blinds are negated by resistance ? Now that’s an interesting thing I didn’t know on which a warrior should focus more for the upcoming patches.

Still the thing with warriors is that it same the same problem with thieves : they have zero teamfight presence.

So sure, you’ll be able to down one guy since gunflame is single target (and severly hurt others if you’re lucky due to piercing damage) but you team is still fighting at disavantage and you’re sitting ducks you any focus.

Like I said, you are comparable to a zerk rev hammer, minus the AoE 1200 range nuke, defensive capabilities and boon support.

A good rev hammer can easily down 2-3 players at once. And hold its ground while being targeted to let his teammates paint red his position to kill off its ennemies.

How can a warrior do that ?

Your playstyle is perfect for nuke and run WvW. It just doesn’t work in spvp where the only things you’ll realistically duel are boon-drunk scrappers and OS bristleback heal bot druids… :/

I just can’t find a really defined role for your warrior atm. It has potential, but since spvp focuses more on point detention than actual fight you will most likely have to run away due to focus, leave you team at -1 on mid and give away points.

Sure you can down people. But c’mon. You know we play chronos and tempest right ? I’ll even play with runes of mercy if it comes to that :’)

- Necro’s have the wurm to escape behin a wall and run.

- Rev has ton of evades and breakstuns from shiro to get out then just dodge roll to get some stab while getting back to his teammates or just block to infinity.

- You are doing something very wrong if you are focusing a tempest auramancer, probably on point, probably spamming auras and probably assisting / being assisted by a chronobunker. And even if you get it down it’ll get back up in 0.25 seconds.

- Scrappers have an invul auto proc (and probably lots of other stuff) to troll around.

- Druids should manage with their healing, pet rezing and lots of other stuff.

(You’ll guess I don’t play much of the medium classes but whenever i team up with those they never have to worry about hard focus).

So basically any meta build.

And the CC… It’s actually dishearting to see my teammates (druids, chronos, revs, scrappers) targetting war with all the possible CC’s they have and just nuking them. It’s not even funny since they don’t have that much stab nor any real defensive mechanics.

Sure stab pulsing is a good thing (eternal champion), but if we can CC people with 3-4 stacks of stab easily, one stack really isn’t going to cut it. Especially for an expected ‘melee’ profession.

And HS signet. Well it’s looks nice but it’s all so predictable if you don’t get it stripped you just haven’t met decent necro/revs.

Primal burst from GS is a 450range instant AoE, it almost always hit.
Sword primal burst is also rather difficult to miss.

As for stun sensitivity, you have a 10s cd breakstun, headbutt is also a breakstun on 20s cd, and activating berserker mode breaks stun. Everytime you break a stun you get stability. That’s more than enough defense against cc.

I’ll be sure to test that out on the next warrior I find to target my double gravity wells, rev rift and druid stun-spam.

I’ll try it in ten days, but from what I’ve seen aside from the infamous character design (same as from Magna Carta I recall) the battle system is solid – some sort of a hybrid combat versus game and a a-rpg style ?

Probably won’t go for Kungkittenmaster due to the ping reliance but a BM or an Sin might be enough of a challenge for me.

Have you even tried the game, be it the russian patched version, the betas or the actual korean version ?

Besides, I heard it’s ranked quite high back in its homeland (whereas BDO doesn’t do so well). So i’m guessing it’s just plain ignorance talking.

You didn’t really address my point, and I don’t recall saying anything about druid, but no matter.

So i’ll just say it again. Berserker is unviable since it has a life span of 10 seconds (Berserker’s Stance) passed that moment you have nothing to prevent conditions from applying.

You don’t even have the surprise effect, since zerkerberker is basically the only build ran on warriors (gs/hammer or gs/riffle).

I’m just curious on how you manage conditions once zerk stance is on CD.

I can kill most tempest relatively easily on berserker.

Assuming you are using the gunflame build in your signature, by most you must mean those that do not know how to use reflects.

Besides having so little defenses (zerk stance) you’d be a priority target so against organized team you’d never last long.

I can understand against non reflect / non protect stacking / blocking class you could do well in 1v1. But that still seems too situational to be usefull, and not worth the risk.

You’re still be inferior to the hammer rev.

Reaper 2/10

I don’t know about other classes but the Reaper build will not work.
The concept isn’t bad. Sinister to combine the power of the GS and the send-back ability of the necromancer, but all the utilityes are wrong and/or bad for your build.

The GS don’t grant you any condition damage or condi transfer, only a direct damage easy to avoid and a bad CC. Gravedigger is the worst skill ever for spvp. Easy to avoid or block. And I think you inverted staff and GS sigils why the only way to make gravedigger lesser worst is obtain quickness with the sigil that give you it when you swap, also the chill on swap help you to land the hit. Anyway you will hit only in a mid fight against players that don’t look at you.

And about your condition damage… How will you do it? A single boon corruption on RS2 is not enough, the same for Dhuumfire and RS4. Out of RS you will not deal condition damage. You will do that only against other condition classes hoping they have more than 2 skills to clean your sent-back conditions (by staff 4 and the passive trait, that also don’t send them back in the right moment why sent them immediatly, making you unable to charge conditions on you before land the “burst” back).

The heal is bad. Expecially for a melee oriented class.
The same for the Elite, unless you want to use the Sunless runes, that inflicts fear AoE every 45 sec when you active a elite (the golem have can do the charge every 40 sec).

Blood is Power give you 8 might, really good, but you can do Better in 2 seconds of RS AA spam if hit a enemy with chill (expecially if under 50% hp) and give only 2 stack of bleed, really poor.
Spectral Grasp can be good only if you’re shure at 100% that you can sustain a Melee fight against someone. You’ve not a single defensive skill and to active a skill like that you must be shure to have 70% or more of LF, Rs ready and a enemy that don’t flee, don’t have stability and don’t burst you out of RS in a second (a thing really easy to do if you use the Sinister Amulet). It can be good only to grab a enemy and pull to your team area, killing it with your teammates.
The wurm is the only defence you have and all the other skills put you more in danger than help you. It’s good, if you know how to use it, nothing to say. But it will not save you enough if you don’t have other defences.

Sigils ok, if you swap staff and GS sigils.

Runes… meh… I can purpose you Aristocracy to help you stack might, increasing both your direct and condition damage.
But, yes, they match the dps oriented style of the build.

Traits:
-Soul Reaping is ok.
-Reaper is ok.
-Course is bad. It’s sad to say but the best way to deal condition damage in sPvP is to avoid the Condition traitline and use Spite. Might stack, boon remove, vulnerabiliity spam, 20% direct damage against a enemy under 50%hp (or even better the Signet trait). i tried and it’s true: Spite give you more condition damage and better skills to deal condition damage than Course.
Course give you a condi transfer and another good boon corruption skill, that’s true, but (expecially with your build) the elite that heal you for 10% of condition damage dealt is not enough to keep you alive. Not like remove or corrupt the enemy boons with signets. The corrupted boons will give you condition damage and might, you will obtain might while AA in RS and while hitting a enemy under 50%hp (and that’s a lot of might), grant you the chance to spam Vulnerability (expecially with the combo RS5
RS4, that make you spam it up to 20-25 stacks) and will deal damage to the enemy removing they’re boons. That will grant you a insane amount of bonus damage, both in direct and condition damage.

I’ll argue that curses is a good traitline for duelling, since the sustain from perma weakness isn’t really noticed in teamfights (spam conditions and cleanses bypasses that) and the auto calamity signet has more impact too.

Some necromancers even use the traitline for a corruption build (poison cloud + Corrupt Boon) since -33% is really good. Personnaly I find it hard to forgo calamity signet in any way.

Aristocracy Runes is more for a pve build (even so its questionable) ; I think necromancers shouldn’t focus so much on might duration due to how easily they can stack it (Spite / Reaper traitline). I’m more of a nightmare runes for the auto-proc fear and condi duration ; but if you’re going settler amulet grenth runes or undead are worth a look at.

Honestly I don’t play much more reaper anymore due to the hard focus I constantly get + hard CC thrown everywhere. Too used to the previous meta where I could rush in as a cele signet necro and sustain myself rather well.

Based on build premise, in a teamfight situation against current meta builds (chronobunkers, viper rev, marauder scrappers etc..) run by average to skilled players knowing their classes and able to focus fire weak targets (e.g your builds).

Objectively speaking those would be rated :

1) 0/10
2) don’t know
3) 0/10
4) 0/10
5) 0/10
6) don’t know

Reasons why they are rated such :

- Bring no utility whatsoever to the team that another better build wouldn’t in a better way.

- Being sub-par at their role is an understatement ; even pre-HoT builds would perform better than what you are suggesting.

- You would essentially be a liability to your team ; this isn’t pve instanced dungeon, one person holding you back has a big impact on team-fights, node-rotations and overall success-rate.

Now I know those are not the numbers you want to hear but hey, you did ask for them. And there’s nothing rude about telling the truth ; current pvp is extremely tied to builds and takes a significant amount of effort to perform well on a sub-par setup.

Why people answer with unhelpful stupid rhetorical questions is beyond me.

They are helpful : my advice is that you should educate yourself more, go look at the current builds, understand why the meta was set and play around it to give a new perspective on their playstyle.

Your builds have 0 notions of pvp mechanics, and would just be easy targets to get by.

Have you even tested those builds ? (In ranked ? Versus what classes / types of players ? I know divisions is as indicative of skill as AP but it’s still our only indicative with pvp level).

And here I was, expecting the settler grenth reaper getting some light, but I guess it’s still too early

Then you face a necro / rev that isn’t brain dead, waits 8 seconds for zerk stance to go aaand… dead warrior. On necro i’ll argue it’s pretty hard if you start off at 0% LF, but for the rev it’s just so kitten easy with the blocks, evades and the stab on demand.

What you’ve proven (as anyone showing off as a warrior) is that you’ve encountered bad players and got praised for it.

PS : Hammer isn’t even in ranked, so it’s either hotjoin or unranked, where nobody plays seriously.

Actually it’s 50% damage reduction, since they can apply frost aura quite… easily.

IMO a good start would be for diamond skin NOT to negate CC in the form of fear. This should help the Reapers to no become utterly powerless against them.

If this can give you some insight on a non-thief POV.

I dont welcome thieves because when I see one I know I have to work extra in team fights because they can’t stand on their own.
Thieves mechanics are awesome, the target focus and instant kill is a great help

BUT.

This requires coordination, group support and independance from the fifth member to function correctly. This is not achievable by average/high skilled players.
Even my pvp leader that used to be ranked top 100th du pre-HoT admits thief is fustrating in the way that he cannot change the flow of the game and only grow a wider gap when winning.

If you are looking for target focus in team fights, a rev will do the job better in any way. As for decap, ppl tend to drop a scrapper on far. Good luck duelling that.
My issue is that thieves do not help much if the team has a weakness or cannot 4v5.

So yeah, i’d call that a liability.


TL; DR. Thieves rely on teammates to be effective. In random teammates rely on YOU.

Both builds will cause you to get a red target over your head and last on average less than 3 seconds in teamfights against semi-decent players.

Necromancer – glasscannon spec without fleshwurm gives you no escape route. You’ll just fall first. Oh and that GS. Just nope.

Guardian – no breakstun… no invulnerability. You are dropping the best survivability for nothing.

Very very very very very terribad.

For the GS rotation I believe Nike did a good spotlight on how to do big numbers on 100b.
In mosts cases, you should be able to do +70k on targets provided you get banners (disci / strenght), 25 vul stacks and full might.

Banners and Tacticts Trait are for group utility dps.

If you plan on running solo, the full dps spec Strenght/Arms/Beserker will be the most effective dps setup. And if you feel the need for condi management you can still take the signet of stamina or zerk stance.

If it’s group content, well the phalanx warrior build is optimal. There’s really no reason to go for another build (viper condi maybe).

Why aren’t you taking “Path of Corruption” if your build is about corrupting boons?

You got it backwards. My build is a Terromancer v2.0 using fear as a primary CC that procs chill and uses that opportunity to stack poison via RS #4. Thing is I don’t have a single boon corruption inside it and I wanted to add it, much like a “module”.

In that sense, wouldn’t corrupt boon work as nicely against DH ? I mean, if I’m able to force them to use renewed focus then F2, I could safely corrupt the stability on their virtue of courage (F3) since CB is unblockable.

Would have a hard time against the bumping autos though.

Although boon corrupting is bad RNG, i still feel that this is a class-mecanic exclusive to the profession one shouldn’t discard. Problem is, I don’t want to run signetmancer anymore due to 2 boon corruption being more often than not rather disappointing in not corrupting the good boons. 5 boon corruption should increase chances of working as intended.

So the alternative is to use the corruption skill CB (Corrupt Boon) to enable this niche effect.

Thing is, I don’t really see where I could fit it from my 3 utility slots :

- Signet of Plague is stunbreaker + condi transfer. Can’t go without it.

- Poison Cloud give projectile immunity (very useful), ticks of poison AND is a poison field : shroud #4 makes up to 25 ticks of poison making it a very nice combo.

- Wurm, for obvious reposition and un-focus mechanics.

I am well aware that should i replace one skill it would most probably be the poison cloud. My question is, would it be really worth it ? How would you tackle up this problem ?

I prefer taunt with 10 % more dmg over anything, It’s a glass build. Removing 1 condition every 25 sec or something is nothing lol.
You would play rifle and other weapon set?

Fair point.
As for the second set, greatsword or sword/shield for runn… keeping distance with your ennemy.

Berzerk Combo Build

In teamfight with the bunker mesmer meta this build will become useless. In 1v1 situations Revs will laugh at you. Reapers that are not at 0% lifeforce too. Tempests won’t even notice you.

This is not a conquest build, more of a roaming thing i would say. Good against people unfamiliar to the class that don’t carry breakstuns or spam condi on wars when zerk stance is up.

Edit : after re-reading my post i do feel like a kitten, so i’ll add some more context.
I also used to be a warrior main and I believe you have the good aproach about damage mitigation instead of passive defense. Problem is, you warrior will melt once bezerker stance burns out and people have many was to stall you 10 seconds.

Edit 2 : * my advice – take the condi removal when entering berserker stance and the stability while you break out of stun. The damage options on berzerker are better used on the cheese rifle build that gets hard countered by auramancers and dodging.

Raids are the only pve content that pushes people to reflect on their shortcomings (builds, rotation, gameplay, common sense)

The problem is not his high mmr cause he deserves to have a high mmr. There is nothing wrong with this. Why should u reset his high mmr so that he can play solo/duo-Q against average players?

If you believe Helseth isn’t playing against average players, then you understand nothing on how the matchmaking system works.

Matchmaking picks up 5 players and calculates an average-mmr for the team. This means that Helseth will only face two situations :

- be grouped up in a high mmr average pug group vs high mmr players and/or pro premades

- be grouped with newbies to lower the average mmr and fight mediocre opponents

You seem to believe the first case is the only situation. If it was, he would most likely have queues longer than anet’s balance to-do list. You should also regard the fact that it is known that pro teams also play at unreasonnable hours for easy wins (no finger pointing, it’s a fact).

On the second note, it might not seem too bad but have you looked at his streams ? He litteraly bursts down multiple ennemies by himself, and his teammates can’t even do a thing as simple as stomping. He’s essentially playing 1v9 there.

So no, you are completely off about that.

But it shows what happens if u are a good player, high mmr and Duo/solo-Q. Its a LOT more work to climb than with a skilled premade group where u can exclude uncertainty / asymmetric information about other player,s external factors altogether.

Again, you are wrong.

Because of the 50/50 winrate balancer, even if you muscle your way through the matchmaking system will purposely halt your progression by setting you in unbalanced matches, hence cutting your winning streaks.

This is why people purposely lose games at the stat of their level, so then they can artificially create a winning streak to the next level. And this can be achieve in solo or team queue no problem.

Core Necromancer has much easier time vs. Condition Revenants (since you can take Curses instead of Reaper and bring second passive guaranteed plague sig + more boon corruption) and I think that would be it.

With the current mechanics on boon corruption (nerfed) and rev mallyx’s resistance uptime I doubt it would be any more usefull.

As far as mobility goes, power-based necros are quite alright if you spec into it :

- pack runes
- warhorn
- spectral walk
- wurm
- shround #2

Those are your mobility options. You can pretty much shadow step on a 30sec CD with the wurm, use #2 for a dash every 10sec and warhorn + pack runes give you high swiftness uptime (and over 100% with spectral walk).

Yes, it’s more effort than a shortbow thief or a s/wh gs warrior – but those classes are only good for running anyway.

Since around a month, boon corruption had been acting a little weird.

I didn’t find any patch or nerf regarding it but i’ve tested this numerous times and I can confirm there is no priority table for 1) condition transfer, 2) condition cleanse or 3) boon corruption.

1) and 2) are probably the reason why condi builds are overflowing – let’s cleanse the cripple and weakness state, and certainly not those 14 stacks of torment or burning.

3) I’m still testing this, but i’m fairly certain the boons corruption are random. This becomes quite problematic when facing classes I could counter (mallyx/shiro Rev, DS ele under 90%, DH) since there is no garantee the boons I corrupt would have any impact.

The random aspect of boon corrupt just limits the skill ceiling of necromancers, all being an outright nerf. One can no longer use it as a stab-counter, or as hard focus in team-fight situations.

Yes, the boon corruption was strong : it prevented classes from over buffing themselves and served as an anti-meta class that gave a unique way of contributing to the team.

Honestly ever since I used 3 signets on a Malyx rev only to see all his boons except resistance and stability get corrupted (let’s not talk about its duration) I am done with it.

I just fail to see how useful this is.

Anyway.

Have you experienced this ? How do you feel about the signetreaper ?
