This would imply a skilled game-play which won’t happen and Anet will throw like a “its confusing for new players” or some similar kittened argument at you.
I think its clearly a server issue, server commands were not properly key-bound to your keys. They need to do a full database rollback to clear the key binding tables they have.
…How about you stop complaining about something that is CLEARLY your issue. Also i’m happy that you think caps lock has any effect on what you press in game what-so-ever.
OP ill give you one simple example why old PvP players say that PvPsucks atm:
there was this build that warriors had: hambow (hammer and longbow). This is a prominent example of game balance done right (another would be zerker shatter mesmer):
– warrior had to time his hammer stuns properly to do very good damage. He had to manage swapping weapons properly based on what the opponent was doing. He had to time his stances properly based on what opponent was doing, he had to time stability …
– someone fighting the warrior had to note the cooldowns on warriors stuns, had to move around properly, had to sacrifice stability or (depending how squishy he was) he would easily get rekt.
Play styles for both of them were very skill based and PvP progression for players was in form of how to improve my animation reading skills, how to avoid combo, how to better time stuff etc
Nowadays, all classes can do everything (aoe spam condi, aoe spam cc, aoe spam dmg, and be tanky at the same time). It doesn’t matter anymore if you get hit with a big hitting attack because your passively proccd protection or invuln or blind will save you and your perma regen heal you in seconds. No need to time swaps really, no needs to bait peoples skills, jump in —> drop everything —> jump out
Its an extremely different playstyle and very permissive to mistakes, so you don’t need to progress your skill. Most fights are won by build/team comp and less by pure skill.
Been slowly losing interest due to glaring problems since June 2015 patch, rage quit during previous season, so no, wont be coming back :/

Welcome to GW2 forums. Not to be a kitten or anything but Anet as you may know it from golden times of GW1 is gone. The new Anet doesn’t care (apart from maybe like 3 people which visit this subforum once per year) about problems with GW1, GW, or you as a paying customer (unless problems are PvE related).

The problem of a scrapper is, hammer defensive skills are actually the hardest hitting ones….. Both projectile blocks hit like a truck for their defensive purposes…
Also a big +1 to this idea. It doesn’t need to be ranked even, I would actually go for unranked/custom arena with this option.
Aha, so you want people that actually try to play builds which require a brain to get punished, when you can spam everything off cd not dodging anything and get carried by the build (with your amazing “level of skill” of course) to get promoted. Check.

Balance is great yes when on each HoT profession you are forced to run exactly 1 build and core is just dead.
When your ele does not lose a 1v1 against an ele and then flames everyone why they left him alone in a fight (I almost punched my monitor).
When you ele while fighting another bunker does not use scepter 5 so the other guy decaps the point……..

I am still hopeful that you will be in change of the PvP balance again in the future as I am salty to the point I see this as a last solution for competitive and active/skill based gameplay :P
When after 1year+ of community driven competitive scene in WvW (regardless of 0 support from Anet) a developer interrupts a GvG by saying “Stop violating my game mode”.
I fought a p/p engi in one of the ranked matches and I thought I was seeing a leprechaun .

There is no matchmaking in custom arenas, it is whoever joins. If you lose that many games in custom arena then stop playing and watch a tutorial, because you actually have to try to be that bad in custom arenas (not provoking, there is literally no other explanation).
Oh and buy razor apparatus and start playing. I’m sure that you will be requesting a refund soon as you neck will start growing beard and you will discover how much those apparatus improve your skill.

Disagree. In the bunker meta you could cap home + contest mid and throw a Druid on far and it was gg. kittened up? NP, insta rez from mesmer inc and by then you have cds ready to spam again.
With this it meta it actually promotes how teams should play/rotate:
– you get targeted and focused at mid while your teammate is standing on point? In my experience 90% of people will still kite ON POINT instead of disengaging from mid for 5sec for enemy to target someone else.
– Your bunker dies at mid? Ofc you will get snowballed, its natural since enemy team did the "hard"job of killing the bunker. Usually they do that by +1ing. Just insta leave mid, rotate to home and far and nobody else from your team will need to get snowballed.
I do agree on your point about spectators, however this combat system, skill flashiness and PvP style does not allow this game to ever become #esports so IMO spectatorship should not be one of the top concerns.
Im sorry, but changes to Energy sigil should actually hurt eles that didnt just spam rotation, posistioned good and watched their cooldowns a lot more than DS nerf.
Its similar as you start doing homework 1 hour before deadline. It doesn’t even matter at which hour the season ends, you had weeks upon weeks upon weeks time to do whatever you wanted to do.
So I bought GW2 at launch and played it for like 2 days before putting it down. To be honest, the only reason why I put the game down was because I was already running a guild in SW:TOR and was fairly committed to that game. However, I recently picked GW2 back up after bouncing back and fourth from WoW and SW:TOR. I have to commend the dev team over hear at areananet. I am absolutely loving this game, I play strictly PVP and have been a pvp player in ever mmo that I have played.
The thing that bugs me is today’s generation of spoiled MMO gamers. Coming from a pvp perspective, GW2 offers gamers one of the best PvP experiences you can get in an MMO. Yet, when I come to the forums for tips and whatnot, all i see is moaning and complaining. And most of the complaints are not even valid.
I understand that the forums if a place where people come to give suggestions and ideas about how to make the game better. But, the truth here is that every time
I come to the forums I feel like I’m wasting my time playing some trash mmo. At least that is how GW2 forum community makes it seem. Thats the end of my little rant, I just wish people would be a little more accepting of the game that the developers have created, BECAUSE IT IS AWESOME!
It is awesome, BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS NEW TO YOU. You have fun discovering skills. You have fun pvping against other people and figuring outrotations. You have fun because combat is the most amazing combat ever designed (subjectively). You are paired with other low MMR people which makes it a fun experience.
If you were here and played pvp consistently for more than 6 months, you would notice the blatant balance and other issues. Once you play a bit more you will be paired with higher MMR player that actually know what they are doing.
If you were here for more than a year, you would notice the lies and kitten anet has been feeding us and doing just to make more money.
Sorry, but most of the complaints ARE valid. Some are very minor changes but most are actually valid because the high level design decisions are kitten. Now you say this is anets game, I agree, however if a company seriously invests into competitive PvP and esports (like anet is tryharding) then certain obligations come from this like:
– establish and maintain a clear communications channel with players as they drive the meta and competitive play = FAILED COMPLETELY
– balance the blatant balance issues = FAILED COMPLETELY/SOMEWHAT
– play their own game instead of looking blatantly at charts of data = FAILED COMPLETELY
– design systems that support competitive PvP = FAILED COMPLETELY (where are build templates, where are proper report channels and options for little kittens that ruin pvp/grief/troll, where is proper matchmaking)
– have a dev to communirt events CDI = PASSED
– use feedback from CDI = FAILED COMPLETELY
– on and on
So in my opinion it is not invalid requests and flaming and player entitlement, it is plain simple facts and obligations from a company that would like to do serious PvP which they don’t do.

Can you remove people without elite specs from ranked matches? I am tired of having them on my team and lowering my win chances. At the very least try to put people without HoT/elite specs into their own teams so I dont have to play with them.
How about…. kitten no? Actually, nobody gives a kitten about your win chance and nobody gives a kitten about you. Build diversity is bad as it is and players like you continue to degrade PvP scene even further.
Get productive instead and provide feedback how to improve PvP state instead of this.

Either minimally shave sustain or a bit of damage on hammer. Playing marauder amulet with quite decent dmg and with that good sustain makes it OP imho.
In my opinion the following 2 segments actually need to be looked at:
– armor on crit trait, I think 5sec ICD actually makes it one of the most OP traits in game, I think like 8sec ICD would be OK.
– regen access: sorry, but seeing scrappers with 40+ sec of regeneration is not fine when coupled with amount of blocks, invulnrs and stealth we have.

I’ve thought through the implications of removing cele from PvP and what would happen to elementalist quite a bit, actually. It’s pretty risky. I think elementalist would need a new 4 stat combo to be viable at roughly the same level (maybe something like 1050pow/1050condi/560vit/560healing).
On a “high level” design view I could say that this is actually a desired effect. Please, start balancing in this direction, a lot of people would prefer this imo
One of the inherent “cancers” in my opinion that has manifested lately is no more clear roles for classes. You can spec very defensively and still do A LOT of damage. If you look at how this is done, it is mostly done with passives, invulnerables and boon stacking (might).
If you remove or nerf celestial amulet I think a lot of people would need to respec and go more offensive or defensive while losing survivability or damage respectively, which is actually a better design of player roles.
The protection up-time ICD from trait needs to be increased by like 3 seconds and scrapper perma regen shaved a bit but other than that its fine imho.
Oh ah also slightly reduce hammer coeficients while increasing rifle and pistol.
I would like to see hyleks spawn after channeling a specific buff so they run across the map and decap far! Also, I would say we REALLY need those little cannons from EOTM to randomly shoot at people on mid.
I dont believe anyone thinks it’s going to “ruin gw2.” However, I am one of the people who will be moving to it. My reasons being.
-Competitive 1v1 (don’t have to rely on 4 other people)
-Frequent balance
-An established esports presence in other counties.
-Active combat. (ie passives aren’t running wild like gw2)
-Condis (dots) are not a massive source of damageand my #1 reason..

If you read on glassdoor forums any of the developers that left ArenaNet the majority of the cons for working in company have to do with kittened senior management of Anet. Oh and also, Anet and NcSoft have split (or are in the process of splitting).
So when a company on its own starts making that poor decisions, then clearly people are gonna bash them and rightfully so

You realize that Blade and Soul, like Wild Star and Guild Wars, is an NCSoft product, right?
For some time now, GW2 is no longer a NCSoft product. Anet got kitten loads of money from HoT so they could afford the split.
The current state of balance is one of the first things that is 100% on Anet only.
Stability change was one of the rare updates that was done due to WvW issues (at that time massive guard + war stacking on teams was meta), rest of updates are purely driven by #esports, a few pro player’s directions, and completely incompetent Anet balance staff (with bright moments here and there).
On many many Anet streams from WvW and sPvP staff was running purely WTF builds (OK Im not saying that all “wierd” builds are bad but they were running really really weird kitten) and talking about balance at the same time which was hilarious.
Good job on providing a well formed guide however this build I just a generic scrapper meta build that can literally be played if a person is braindead.
Sorry, but a build spamming skills and from that gaining perma protection, swiftness, regen and 15+ might while having insane kiting/mobility AND damage is just wrong.
I would be must more interested if people actually still theory-crafted builds and came up with original ideas that are not copy-paste from metabattle…

A fact that you are not incorporating into this suggestion is that at the current state, boons can be mass spammed whereas in GW1 you usually had only one prot.
They need to shave the amount of boon spam classes can dish out before doing something like this but I like the idea.
What are you talking about, condi spam while being invulnerable and proccing passives that cannot be outplayed is #esports design.

I used to enjoy PvP a lot in the past, but it started to go downhill once they started introducing passive proccing crap and didn’t even acknowledge balance issues.
Went back to Archeage just to kitten , and I shed a tear when I realised I’m actually having more fun being 2-shot by P2W players than when I queue in gw2 pvp…

With 7+ people you have picket your map you have a 70%+ chance of playing it, it is simple and fair system, one of the rare system that actually works flawlessly. (apart from the screen lock on match pop, not able to right click turn while that is active makes me wanna punch my monitor :P)

So design team makes already pretty useless rank stat completely obsolete with the patch that changed the requirements for rank 80.
The acknowledge that rank farming is OK, player can do whatever they want (which btw, they are farming for finishers, not rank).

Imho raging, trolling and verbal abuse is the natural thing in any PvP oriented mode.
The more people that play it, the more problems the game has (balance, fun …), the more rage and trolling will occur.
One thing that not many people would admit or think about, is that generally less skilled player who thinks he is very pro, can sometime get "proper"tactics and play only when somebody rages at him.
PvP (not casual style) is mostly about #kitten so it is normal to rage at others for “letting your team down”etc.
This speaks to me that you focus too much on what other people say, or are in general too susceptible to these things. There is a plethora of ways you can avoid this if it bothers you that much, best one is to block a person you deem to offensive or childish. If it gets to actual verbal abuse, report and block.
But never rage at someone and insta block them afterwards, that makes you look like a kitten.
But in general, this is PvP, it is unavoidable and rightfully so. There is raging, verbal abuse and trolling in any competitive sports.
Since anet forces insta cast passive procs I’m sure nobody uses air+ fire sigil + vampirism rune right??

It is one of the best ways to kill bunkers, nobody expects that it can dish out so much sustained damage.
Confirming, but AFAIK it happens in combat as well.
The difference is, burn is the ONLY damage coming from d/d ele (I presume you talk about dd) whereas engi has a lot more sources of damage both condi and physical.
Dodge the RoF and evade fire 2 and d/d has 0 dmg.
Dodge some engi skill and he still has gazillion other surprises up his sleeve.
Burning from DD is fine unless you walk through RoF repeatedly, tone down survivability a bit instead, or remove 1 condi cleanse IMHO.
I have gotten used to jumping when using magnet pull just before it lands, its a nice trick to pull from places above you etc. It doesn’t fix the problem but I got a lot less desyncs than before.
The idea itself of losing tiers is OK and fitting, as there has to be a reward for top level tier play.
However, awful matchmaking and solo vs premade issues need to be addressed first for leagues to work properly.
I would say no, the balance is very slowly coming together but ATM it is a mesmer/ele/rampage fest.
I suspect broken stuff due to bugs (engi nades) fixed quickly not that the weekend is over.
However for majority of balance stuff, I think the balance will go slowly with shaving low amounts away until people start crying about something else. Which is an appropriate procedure IMO.
