We waited 4 months already, why is it that big of a deal to wait slightly longer?
The fact that they haven’t figured this out in 4 months is why its an issue. Its seriously unprofessional.
If its something that was known about for the entire four months I’d agree, but this wasn’t known for 4 months. The issues started appearing a week before the end of the tournament, its not like people started not getting their chests on Feb 12th when they announced the tournament.

I’m going to voice an unpopular opinion, this is a good call. If its an issue, why should some people who are suffering from a bug be doubly affected, by not having their chest at all they’re afraid, and by seeing other people with their items they’ll be bummed out. Nobody has access to the vendor, everybody is on equal footing.
So once again, Good Call Anet.
The final room of the guild puzzle in snowden drifts is unable to be completed. The drake will still chase the person with the cooled egg around, but its flame breath will not light the torches. We tried from several different angles and directions and none of the torches would light up.
Agreed, and to be perfectly honest crit damage in dungeons didn’t need to get hit all that much. Conditions in PvE and support needed to be looked at. Because as you said, the only change in pve is that it will take longer to finish. Mobs will still one shot you if you mistime a dodge, conditions will still be overwritten to be worthless.
the main thing i wanted to point out with this is the choice of ascended equipment pieces to minimize precision wasted yet still hit 99% crit chance.
However yes, I do understand its an extremely generous assumption considering i attempt to waste endurance in fights trying to keep it down. I usually run the x-5-25 build just because of (as Fade stated) consecrations and resolve.
Without Unscathed, the only damage modifying trait in virtues is Power of the Virtuous, which as i assumed 5 unique boons equals a 5% damage increase over base. The base is the same so if you have Elusive power you have 10% more damage over base. Now unless keeping your endurance low is that much of a damage loss for the sword auto attack chain (which doesnt suffer from the same symptoms as the Warrior Axe Chain) then Elusive Power would deal more than Power of the Virtuous. So in order for people to judge which is more effect over that is by weighting the traits seperately from raw damage. Something which is entirely situational on which dungeon you’re running.
Now if I wanted to heavily rely on Scepter, I’d be going 20-30-0-0-20 without question.
It honestly depends. I agree those three are good traits and make it worthwhile even without unscathed. At the same time Shout Reductions and Innate condition cleansing are also good. I made those builds just for maximum theoretical damage which calls for unscathed.
Since I haven’t really seen someone break down how ascended armor stat increases affect the ‘meta’ guardian builds I decided to try my hand at it and make them as efficient as humanly possible.
A few assumptions I made when doing this is that you will always have a Warrior in the party running with Banner of Discipline, as well as 100% uptime on Fury and Might to some extent. I did not include a Ranger with Spotter. I assumed that the guardian would have 5 unique boons for the purposes of “Power of the Virtuous”, and that for the sake of Elusive Power you would always have Endurance regenerating (ie not full). The enemies in question will also always be burning and have some stacks of vulnerability (which doesn’t mean anything if your group can maintain max stats, but changes if it cant).

This it the most potent and efficient build I could come up with is a Sword/Focus and Greatsword Build, running 10-30-0-5-25 or 10-30-0-0-30 depending on personal taste there. Everything is Berserker except for your Focus, Gloves, and Greaves are Assassins. The additional precision with Banner and Fury with Right Handed Stregnth will get you to 99% crit chance with 2 points of precision wasted.
The second build basically is for people who can’t justify using Unscathed Contender. And is stronger if (and only if) you have Aegis down for more than 77% of the fight.

The gear is exactly the same as above (still ‘wasting’ 2 points of precision to max crit chance). Trait spread is either 10-30-0-25-5 or 10-30-0-30-0. It comes down to you wanting more condition removal without losing scholar runes or you wanting the boons from using your virtues.
I ended up crafting two more builds which either focus on Great Sword and slightly modified for Hammer. And one final build that is pretty much only useful for solo roaming in WvW or maybe even PvP.
Because healing signet over 31 seconds (CD and Cast time of Healing Surge) restores 2300 hp over Healing Surge. Then on top of that, you don’t have to worry about getting your heal interrupted. Healing Surge is better for taking spikes of damage where you go from 100 down to 20 then will take another 50 within the near future. Healing Signet is honestly a crutch, the regen is so blatantly overpowered that it outheals other classes entirely where classes which have natural HoT are punished by their low HP pools.
That’s a problem by people playing sustained damage builds. HS is a counter to that – a bursty build will render HS useless.
Blame the meta, not the skill.
But at the same time, Warriors have two very potent Anti Burst skills Shield 5 and Endure Pain. Warriors are not unstoppable as people complaining about them say that they are, but they are the masters of inaction. They get such a huge net passive power that it feels overbearing for people to face.

I put my vote smack in the middle for the sake of potential. The skill has a good idea behind it and emphasizes its use in an offensive situation, it is good when combined with the Valor line for the meditation traits.
Its biggest downfall is the cast time, not for it taking you out of combat during that time, but because in pvp and wvw your opponent (in smaller scale battle) can see it and instantly adapt to it making your heal absolutely worthless. However if it was instant, it would quite possibly be overpowered.
Honestly if they increased the cooldown of the skill to 40 seconds (32 when traited) and instant with the same 6 second duration (18.75% upkeep) the skill would be absolutely amazing, as it is now I cant justify using it in wvw unless I have another ally to supplement CC so I can actually deal damage to heal, and even then I’d probably take shelter for the dangerous situations.
lets see… Sylvari were born 25 years before the start of the game and Thaumanova blew up within a year of the start of the game.
So yeah, its reasonable that she’s there, but people arent happy about it.
So she blew up Thaumanova then hid for a year and a half to show up after Zhaitan was defeated?
obvioulsy

I appreciate the screens, my party had started ahead of time so i missed almost all of it.
Not sure if this has been reported yet, but I didn’t see it so here we go.
Occasionally while running dungeons immediately after getting out of combat I will take a utility and swap it with another skill to prepare for the next part. However on some occasions while one of my other utility skills is still on cool down, the skill I swap in will adopt the cool down of the one that is still going on. Having to wait until its up to do anything with, even if the skill I brought in has a lower cool down than the one displayed.
Ex) Near the end of a fight I use ‘Save Yourselves’ (60 second cooldown). 10 seconds later I am out of combat and I swap ‘Wall of Reflection’ which is available for ‘Stand Your Ground’. However the moment ‘Stand Your Ground’ is on my bar, it has a 50 second cool down which is in sync with ‘Save Yourselves’. despite the fact that ‘Stand your Ground’ has a 30 second cool down naturally.
I’ve had it happen with several skills of no particular type and on my warrior as well as my guardian.
Can’t do anything at 80 except make them yourself at the forge…
And what do you throw into the forge to get them? level 0-20 stuff. How do you get level 0-20 stuff? Put money into the TP or do level 0-20 content. You can’t do dungeons for them (lodestones) you can’t grind champions for them (lodestones and t6 crafting materials).
The only reason that they’re so high is because you cannot get them by doing anything at level 80. Lodestones, Bloods, Bones, all of those can be obtained by just playing the game at level 80 so people who do need them add to the supply and keep the price down. However the only way to get silver doubloons is to actively pursue them meaning the only way they enter the game is on purpose (people dont just stumble upon them).
Because of that very few actually enter the market to be sold, but since everyone’s solution is to just keep farming gold to buy them the price keeps going up while the overall supply actually diminishes. At the time of me writing this there are 564 silver doubloons on the market from anywhere from 1 gold to 20 gold.
People can claim they’re supposed to be hard to get all they want, and its true. But at least make it possible to obtain at level 80, instead of forcing us to camp jumping puzzles on low level alts for a chance of obtaining them, or sending us to the mystic toilet for (once again) a chance of obtaining them. I’ve gotten more gold doubloons upgrading mats at the mystic toilet trying to get silvers than what I actually want. Its possible yes, but not viable.
All Anet would have to do to solve this problem and keep them rare is to add them to champion boxes. Problem solved.
The best part of a thief having these is that it no longer broadcasts your class. If you approach an Engineer with dual pistols you are going to enter that fight a lot differently than if you approach a Thief, now that thieves are no longer broadcasting that they are a thief because of the signet, they can catch you unprepared.
crafting to 400 was 10 levels, now its 7. Now isn’t that lovely?
But yeah, crafting at all right now is a bit silly, all prices are inflated due to the Ascended Rush. I’m just gathering materials in the meantime while I wait for it to go back down.
I agree, but not because the damage increase on burning is so miniscule. Its because burning is the only damaging condition guardians have natural access to. That and its one of if not the worst condition to rely on damage for in parties due to it stacking duration.
She should have loot, I agree… but there are already three chests in the dungeon.
I don’t get them after stuns or immobilized but I get them immediately following a down/revive. But I never had this problem before the patch as well.
Combining Writ of the Merciful and Altruistic Healing with a hammer is probably the best way to go as Blunt linked in his first build those two combined heal about 200 or so a second, add in regeneration and Virtue of Resolve and you get some serious sustain for tanking trash. The problem you will have is high burst enemies like big bosses with those 1 shot skills, no amount of defensive stats protect you fully from them.
I used to run Signet all day every day. Changing it only when I went into wvw to roam with a friend. Since then I changed my build to have less base hp, and getting the timing down on the shelter can easily make up the difference between the two.
With roughly 200 healing power, Shelter does 4500 and Signet does 8500, comparing that to my hp which is around 14k, I would either have to be at 40% hp to get full use of the heal for signet or 68% to get the full use of shelter. Not to mention if I block a big attack that would either disrupt me or deal considerable damage, shelter just gets better and better. But both have their uses.
I consider myself an offensive guardian, and i find the 200 I have from traits more than enough.
A lot of (written) cooking leveling guides use blackberry pie. Because of that, people spam it out like nothing and since it can’t be sold to npcs for anything, they dump it on the trading post without regard to its value as far as the materials went.
I agree, Blackberry Pies are amazing. I use them as an extremely cheap substitute for omnomberry pie because its marginally less effective for a fifth to a tenth of the cost.
I agree and disagree. The Dragon and Temple chests are lackluster, I get better loot from the LA jumping puzzles on average. They (being the Dragon/temple chests) need to be better than what they are, but making every temple and every dragon give something of akin to the Jade Maw is dangerous. I wouldn’t mind getting fewer drops from the chests if they were on average better. But getting 4 Blues and a green Medallion only discourages me from doing the events.
if you log out next to the node, you can mine it without getting all that much attention from the champion. Since he is positioned to catch people going to the node, not people at the node.
Glacial and Crystal are the cheapest ones because nobody wants what they build. Sure some of the one Glacial build are cool (Wintersbark/bite) but those also require corrupted lodestones. Market between the two is so skewed that nobody bothers trying to modify the market on the glacial and corrupted suffers from the entire market burden due to its rarity (comparitively).
Personally I blame the karka rich ori vein. I don’t even bother with Orr and Frostgorge ori nodes anymore. But that pick confuses me too, making the problem that much worse. That permanent rich node is probably one of the worst ideas economically I’ve seen.
There is no DR on loot in fractals. It has been stated by devs multiple time already.
There is no DR as far as Fractals Rewards go. so if you run a level 10, 20 times a day, you will always get the chest at the end of each fractal with 6 relics, and the chest with 25 at the end of the Jade Maw.
Normal DR as far as farming mobs goes, still exists. However my thoughts on the issue at hand would be the fact that they respawn infinitely if you keep looping around. And usual infinite mobs in an instance means you get nothing from loot (example Svanir earlier in that fractal). Maybe they changed it because they realized this, instead of doing the logical thing and making them not respawn when you actually kill them.
Just Remember
Lupicus Grub Spawning on Minions – Bad
Subject Alpha AoE spamming on Minions – Bad
Subject Alpha Crystalizing Minions – Good
Jade Maw Lazering Minions – Relieves pressure from the team, extends fight (so both)
Jade Maw targetting pets with his laser merely prolongs the fight, doesn’t give a disadvantage to the team the same way Lupicus does. Subject Alpha targetting with his crystal is entirely beneficial to the team though.
These two things aren’t inbalanced in the mobs favor, they’re in the players favor, and personally think they are fine.
Edit: Never really noticed Alpha adding more attack circles depending on the number of clones/pets you have, then again, I rarely see necros in that dungeon.
all they would need to do is start the difficulty setting at the lowest shared amongst all when you enter the gate so the moment you start the transit you are informed, “Hey, someone here is at level 5, but we can set it up to level 42”.
Personally I like the thought of tiers as well, but if they’re set eliminating previous level requirement except from at least one person, they may as well tell the qualified person if someone is lower than expected.
Did I miss something and there was suddenly a new way to aquire these, or are people more than willing to take an obvious loss for these runes/bags. Or (and I hope to god this isn’t the case) did some hacker finally figure out how to duplicate items and is testing it out on these items.
There are currently (at the time of this post) 40 “20 slot oiled leather packs” on the market for 9g per. And at the same time 47 “Superior Runes of Holding” for 9g50s4c. Logically speaking the price would need to be at minimum 11.76 for the rune to break even, let alone the other materials (however low t6 leather may be).
he starts to kneel, you hit him with a stun, knockdown, fear, knockback and he stops healing. I’ve had it interrupt even if his defiant stacks are still available. I run a guardian and once i figured out how to stop his heal i swapped to Hammer, Hammer of Justice, Bane Signet and became dedicated to keeping his heal from happening. and I’ve told pugs to have atleast one CC on demand to keep his defiant low to make sure he doesn’t heal.
Armor/Toughness means nothing to conditions, just going to put that out there. That said, the new area does hit something fierce.
Seems to be working as intended. Was a great fight took about 20 minutes to get him to 90%. 20minutes per 10% = 3 hours and 20 minutes for the fight. That’s a guaranteed way to avoid DR. We thought of an alternative as well. If the entire group specs heavy into condition damage and switches to rampagers gear the fight can easily be done in under two hours. Overall, an epic experience.
we did pretty much this, stupidly hard but with enough stubborn people we finished it. But yeah, don’t do CoE submarine path for a while.
I will say that the one warrior build I do not like playing with is a 5 signet warrior…
not quite the same situation, but my friend and i for the first week or so while we were making our first chars to 80. I had a guardian and he ran a Double Dagger Elementalist. I built to have a lot of defense and control and he ran as much damage as possible, we were able to do this throughout the entire leveling process.
There is no min/max, theres no prebuilt roles you and your friend have to fill. But one going support and another going damage works. Both going damage is gonna work just as well, maybe faster. But honestly, find what each of you want to do in your own class and it should work well.
Update:
Tried out a 0-0-30-30-10 build taking mainly Altruistic Healing as well as the condition removal on a 10 second timer and Area toughness (couldn’t find another to use). Then went into CoE where I was asked to be the primary tank so I was like okay.
Equipped my Knight’s GS and Cleric’s Trinkets along with Sanctuary, Hold the Line, and Stand your Ground. Immediate reactions were pretty nice. The overall build made me a lot tankier, which I did like. As the dungeon progressed I swapped my gear from Knight’s + Clerics to full Berserker’s with no real drop in survivability, overall using this build was excellent for dungeons, I had Damage, I had Defense, I had Condition Removal, all is good.
However going from CoE to WvW, I started having problems. Since I usually just run around with one other person, lack of chain CC was an issue. I could still take Bane Signet and Hammer of Justice, but the loss of multiple Hammer knock downs and the increased cool down affected my usual playstyle. I couldn’t lock people in place long enough to prevent reactions which would draw the fight out longer.
My next traiting experiment will probably be along the lines of 20-20-10-10-10, taking spirit weapon, signet, and shout runes. Worries about this are going to be the lack of defensive stats gained from the stats, which I have used for as long as I can remember. Also it doesn’t go 30 in anything, so I may be missing out there but from what I wanted I couldn’t find one worth getting from Zeal and Radiance that I was willing to sacrifice elsewhere.
If I wanted to use this set up, it would probably need a mixture of Knight’s and Valkyrie gear to compensate for the lack of defensive stats in the trait line, although it may work with my existing Cleric’s Accessory Set, it would probably be better if I went something like Berserker GS, Soldier’s Armor, Knight’s Accessories.
Has anyone tried something like this and gotten results (good or bad) I’d like to hear them.
in wvw i learned pretty fast how important stability is. Nothing says “No, just No” than hitting stand your ground as your opponent knocks you down or stuns you as you channel the killing blow.
And considering its on a 30 second CD (24 with traits) “Stand Your Ground” is amazing.
I use P,T,V armor and I wouldn’t say that it affects it drastically. In my opinion you are trying to go for too much damage and you end up sacrificing your survivability for it.
Carrion (Con, Vit, Pow), Knight’s (Tough, Pow, Prec), & Valk (Pow, Vit, Crit Dmg) all give decent amount of damage and survivability. Tuning Crystals, Sharpening Stones, and Toning Oils all convert Toughness and Vitality into Conditional Damag, Power, or Prescision respectively although you can only use one at a time.
How I treat traits personally are for the effects. The stats they give are secondary, and I can always fill those stats which I want more of with gear. No matter what gear you get, you cannot get those trait runes except via points and those need to be decided first. As someone on my thread I linked mentioned, putting 15 points into Radiance gives an AoE Blind when activating Virtue of Justice and renews justice whenever you kill something (ie when something you tagged dies). Putting 5 points into Virtues gives might each time you activate justice, so the more you kill the more AoE Might you give to you and your allies.
I personally find 30 points in Zeal a waste, and the only reason I use 20 in there is for the Spirit Weapon effects.
But to be honest, if you want to survive all the time but still want to build glass cannon, maybe you should look at warrior. That is not to say that its impossible and in no way should you not try, but I don’t know how much you are willing to sacrifice in damage to survive more.
Guardians have one of the lowest hp pools in the game at level 80. They are naturally tanky due to their features which become more effective via traiting. But if you ignore those traits and focus more on damage in all aspects, you are moderately tanky with a low hp pool and slightly higher than average base armor (without toughness).

What do you feel like you are lacking in the build? Survivability? Utility? Damage?
1 & 2 are fairly easy to tweak, however if you wanted even more damage guardian might not be the class for you.
I made a thread asking for a bit of a critique on my build here (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/Tanky-DPS-Guardian-Build-Critique/first#post663276) and overall I am happy with it, but i want to make it better.
My opinion on guardian weapons overall are as follows…
Greatsword and Hammer are excellent for PbAoE damage, I wouldn’t reccomend using both but using one gives you good presence. Staff is excellent as a support tool and has a pretty good mid range attack, good for tagging in events but the support is amazing.
Sword is excellent for mobility and has good one handed damage.
Scepter is your best bet for a true ranged attack even if its slow, the immobilize is nice and the ranged AoE can do some good work.
Mace is for people who want to be tankier, however its an attrition tank, not straight up tank, you will probably want a bit of healing power to compliment it.
Focus is excellent at making you tankier, Shield is good as a support off hand, and torch is your damaging off hand.
By the sounds of it, you want to deal damage. Both raw and conditional. If this is true, I would say go for Greatsword and Sword and Torch. As far as traits go, I’d need to know a bit more about what exactly you are disappointed by in your build and what you want to do as far as in game (wvw, pve, dungeons, pvp, etc) and how to go about changing that into something you enjoy.
I’ve heard of using that build before, at least the 15 points in Radiance mainly as a farming tool in Orr event chains. And it sounds good primarily for PvE (world events and farming) but I don’t feel that it’s as flexible as what I currently have when it comes to WvW and dungeons, although I can see how those 15 in radiance would make AC Ex easy due to all the mini mobs the bosses spawn.
Chaining burning and might sounds great, but in a dungeon and you’re paired with an elementalist the burn stacking you do cuts back on parts of their dps since odds are they have some more conditional damage than you do.
Altruistic Healing I may have to try though some way or another.
With the 20 points in Zeal I have now, it makes it so Spirit Weapons aren’t destroyed when commanded. Coupled with Hammer of wisdom, that’s 2-3 knockdown’s every 10 seconds on a 36 second cycle. Which is absolutely brutal for skirmishes in WvW.
So I’m quite happy with the build I’m using but feel that either it or I could get better and would like some help fine tuning it. The way I feel, or at least how I would like it to feel is a good multipurpose build for PvE, Dungeons, and WvW skirmishes (not so much for sieges, but options for that would be welcome).
At the moment I have a static Exotic Soldier’s Armor with Superior Runes of the Soldier. Primary weapon is either a Berserker’s Greatsword of Rage or a Knight’s Greatsword for a bit more durability. Secondary weapon is generally an Exotic Soldier’s Staff which I use mainly for movement speed, warding, and AoE Heals/Might. I carry at least rares of every other available weapon to guardians in case I feel I need them, or just want to use them. For accessories I have a full exotic set of Clerics and a full exotic set of Berserker’s depending on the situation.
For traits I go 20-0-0-30-20, opting for Spirit Weapon Masteries in Zeal (CD, and no destruction on Command). Taking Superior Aria and Pure of Voice in Honor and alternating between Two-Handed Mastery, Writ of the Merciful, and Empowering Might as the Master rune depending on the situation. And Improved Spirit Duration and Absolute Resolution in Virtues.
Utility Slots I take Signet of Resolve and Renewed Focus as 6 and 0. And depending on the situation I will take various others. Dungeons Usually have me with one of Sword of Justice/Save Yourselves/Retreat paired with “Stand Your Ground” and “Hold the Line”. WvW I will take Hammer of Wisdom coupled with either Bane Signet or “Hold the Line” and “Stand Your Ground”.
If you have any advice to fine tune it or change it up a bit I’ll appreciate the advice, however I’d like to keep the GS as my primary damage source because it feels the most fun to me personally.
Glad to see it complete, and even though thats a lot, I’m going to start working on it anyway. Luckily for me the Legendary I would want is Sunrise anyway so no loss there.
to be fair, i’d do it just because worst case scenario it doesnt work, and i’d have a component for the GS i want to make anyway. Problem is i don’t have the funds or the armorsmithing to try it yet
