Rewards for representing guilds

Guild rep rewards, when they existed, felt frustrating.

I think being able to rep one of any five guilds, or none, is nice.

Rep rewards competed with the system of being allowed multiple guilds.

And in my opinion the community feels less toxic now than back when we had them.

Lava Lounge Infiltrated

I posses neither the temporary nor permanent pass but have successfully eluded the 3VCTN golem, for now. I have most cleverly disguised my self as part of the ambient wildlife to evade suspicions.

The locals appear odd and the service providers, overworked. In-particular this one waiter appears to be, terribly overworked.

The music produced by the Floutist and Lutist is quite pleasant to the ear.

I now must return to by my observations, it seems a frog writing a journal atop of a Festival Tent is upsetting to some of the natives. As luck has had it the 3VCTN golem still remains aloof.

Found Bandit Chest and Hungry Cats

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Fey Zeal.7032

Part of me loves the irony of the Found Bandit Chest needing to be “re-found” each day.

The other part wishes it would stay in one spot at stay found for kitten sake. It’s not the Luggage from the Disk World series and it’s not the Mini Angry Chest. It is the FOUND Bandit Chest.

So I’m conflicted here because, I want the Found Bandit Chest to both continue to be in a state of being found and un-found, like the Schrodinger’s cat paradox, AND be found in one kitten spot, for convenience. Like the Schroninger’s cat paradox.

I’m also scared that their may be a mishap when the chest decides to move off screen. Between it and one of my new cat’s that are no longer hungry, since i fed them, but are still referred to as hungry cats.

Or, is their some disgruntled Skritt who is constantly moving the chest and their is no possible harm of the chest barreling over my precious hungry kittens, that again, I did feed.

But, then I now have to worry if the Skritt, being disgruntled, will inevitably do something to my formally known as hungry cats, thus making them formerly known as hungry cats.

And, If I end up having to do another skritty quest to get my cats back I will, be both happy and sad!

If you are what you eat, does this mean a copper fed salvage-o-matic is made out of copper? What if you could feed your extra salvage-o-matic’s to each-other in a grizzly show of cannibalism. And they poop out their respective self as, a mini Salvage-o-Matic or back piece.

I would also be fine with being able to sell my extra copper fed salvage-o-matic to a merchant for 1 copper and silver for 1 silver (not that I have an extra silver fed mind you). That way it doesn’t feel as bad as deleting them would, when you can no longer look back and remember fondly the times you shared together. This is likely a bad idea because then you might accidentally mearch your salvage-o-matics.

But wait! Another idea, we trade in our salvage-o-matics for salvage-o-maad-tics. Is it a salvage-o-matic reference or an Omaad refernce now? I don’t know! It slices, it dices, it takes you into the eternal alchemy where an angry dragon no longer exists to eat your mind, combination hookah and coffee maker, also makes Julienne fries. Will not break, will not—it broke.

Next idea! Post this reply before I have any worse ideas or continue to make terrible references, oh my yes.

Coalescence of Ruin not hitting?

I was wondering about why they nerfed the damage on this skill so hard?

Having the attacks reduced from 7 to 5 comes to about a 28.6% reduction. Each hit was given a plus 10% damage but that just means the overall reduction is 21.4%.

Was this skill really so detrimental before that it needed its damage adjusted so heavily? I feel a 10% nerf to its damage would have been adequate. Although I rarely use it in pve. Was this reduction because of pvp?

If he tried to level scribe by crafting decoration he probably could have spent a great deal of cash. He was also crafting decorations simply to try and make decorations which requires allot of cash.

During “The Floor is Lava?” Adventure, dodging and activating a spore cluster (the spore clusters that are created from kicking fruits) simultaneously will root your character. This prevents x and y axis movement till you touch the ground again. Even if you are gliding you will need to stop and touch the ground. Effectively this cripples your run as it forces the slow+degen buff onto you.

swap smokescale f2 back please

in Ranger

Posted by: Fey Zeal.7032

Fey Zeal.7032

Going to be investigating this. It may require some change to Smoke Assault, since the active skills are intended to be a little stronger than the passive skills.

Please, do.

I am curious is controlling the smoke field really considered weaker than the damage skill? I feel controlling the smoke field is far more powerful than controlling the burst, in pve and pvp content.

I also feel that the main issue, surfacing here, could be with how combo fields work. Or it is with the lack of customizability to pets.

A solution could be to provide rangers with the option to swap 1 or more of their pet’s non auto-attack skills with the F2.

A change to how combo fields operate/interact could also be a solution.

Another approach could to allow players to choose which fields take priority when they are interacting with combo fields. In other words an order list in the options menu or hero panel.

P.S.
If, under water combat is ever addressed I would strongly suggest Jelly fish’s water field be swapped to the F2 in place of the whirl finisher. It is a similar situation to this one.

Charged Lodestone High Presence in Recipes?

in Crafting

Posted by: Fey Zeal.7032

Fey Zeal.7032

I have some questions related to, what appears to me as, a lack of T6 material use in Recipes with the exception being Charged Loadstones.

Simply put, I feel, there is some bias in the use of primarily the Charged Loadstones over the other six materials (Onyx, Molten, Glacial, Crystal, Destroyer, Corrupted, and the Pile of Putrid Essence).

I’m curious to know if there is a reason behind this?

Most importantly, why create such diversity only to ignore 85.7% of it?
Of course I realize, this is assuming there is bias. Maybe there is simply a greater demand for the items that use Charged Loadstones in the recipe and maybe they are harder to farm.

I also want to say that I realize using more of the other materials, in recipes would not directly affect Charged prices, nor do I care if Charged prices drop or rise.

My intent is not in any way to try and see the price of Charged Loadstones impacted in an way but primarily to understand why these other materials appear to be so ignored.

Maybe the attached image is not enough to definitively show that there is a bias towards Charged.

And if there is not a bias of their utilization in recipes over the others, I am still curious why there is such a significant discrepancy in value.

Maybe other players have more insight into the matter?

I’m not trying to start pointing fingers or passing judgment in saying this or that is wrong or right, I am just curious.

I am not happy with this system.

I missed last weeks reward because I did not pay enough attention to the in game messages. I do not remember receiving an in game mail the first time around, just a pop up which I by second nature closed instantly. Luckily I did read the mail sent this time around, assuming one was sent last week. I’m sure one may very well have been that I deleted and only partially read.

I can see very few reasons behind this system to deliver rewards. Forfeit to “encourage” players to, log into guild wars. However I do not find this a very, fun, system were an easy oversight on my part means I’ve missed some tickets.

It may be fair that I have missed my rewards but it is not a kind or friendly system, from my view.

At the very least, I feel I should have been able to pick up any reward from any week, a week after the close of the season.

These are just my thoughts and feelings.

Can Aquabreathers be removed, partialy?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fey Zeal.7032

Fey Zeal.7032

I find Aquabreathers breathers a nice idea from an immersion standpoint but how they work feels frustrating.

There are limited stat combinations, and rarity does not reach even exotic level as of yet(as far as I’m aware).

If I want to use a rune set on armor I need to remember to out fit my breather with a 7th rune. If I have more than one armor set, and I want to have both sets of runes function, I need an additional breather.

Underwater combat is limited to a few areas and it is not a huge cost to buy extra breathers or runes(depending on the type of each). But it feels like a moderate inconvenience rather than a nice feature.

I don’t want them gone completely but it would be nice if they were just superficial like costumes. If our helmet stats and runes could affect us underwater while our aquabreathers acted as just skins, this would make transitioning from land to water feel more seamless, rather than frustrating. Maybe others don’t feel this way but I would appreciate such change.

The World Dungeon, for Dungeon Delvers

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Fey Zeal.7032

Fey Zeal.7032

I had an idea for a new type of dungeon, a “dungeon’s dungeon” if you will, involving the tokens we receive from every other dungeon. Basically it would be a dungeon in which there is one path for every other dungeon in game. To enter a dungeon’s path you need to spend tokens from the that dungeon to buy a one time ticket to enter the respective path. And then final you use a unique token earned at the end of these paths to enter a final path.

Fractals has two forms of dungeon currency, so it could technically have a path, although it may be better left out because of its unique nature.

The number of tokens needed from each dungeon could differ to account for difficulty or be set to an equal sum allowing for a level of prestige. Such as for being able to complete a dungeon like Arah.

After completing a path you might have a chance for a unique reward such as a skin or mini pet from that path along with earning two types of tokens. The first a unique token, as I mentioned earlier. This unique token would be collected from all paths to gain entry to a final path. And the second a general token shared across all the paths.

I’m not sure what level of difficulty these paths should entail. I would hope time wise they would not be to lengthy, for two reasons. The final path would need a token from every other path and the nature of entering paths as I have described it requires earning tickets.

This would maybe revitalize the current dungeons and allow for new dungeons to have their paths added. I do realize that this creates a problem for entering the final path though as its entry fee would rise with the addition of any new dungeon and its path being added.

Regardless of a final path existing or not this was an idea I wanted to share. I do realize this is an astronomical amount of work but I thought it sounded like an interesting idea and just wanted to to share it, maybe for the future.

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Fey Zeal.7032

Fey Zeal.7032

Many of you may blissfully go about your lives in Tyria seeing those feathery white birds fly by. They deliver your mail and then you think nothing more of the matter. I, my self included, thought nothing. They were just pretty little white doves fluttering through our lives and hearts, delivering joy. But what do they really look like and what are they really up to with those beady little eyes, that you probably haven’t seen yet until you scroll further down this page?

Recent photo evidence has shown them to be nothing more than common pigeons. Those same disgusting, diseased, flying rats that infested Lion’s Arch streets, until Scarlet blew them up. This of course has raised health issues, the pigeons not Scarlet, for all Tyrian customers of the Black Lion Trade Company. Many have begun to ask is this hacking cough really due to Scarlet’s miasma or is it these winged disease bags? We sought out Evon Gnashblade in hopes of him shedding some light on this issue. But he refused to make any comments at this time and then started making shifty deals with a small golem. Probably helping as it kills us all in some golem uprising or something.

Next time you choose to send a package via BLTC Mail and Delivery Services think again. And if not for your health then the safety of your children. Who are probably still in Lion’s Arch, getting blasted at by lasers, because they had to take a break… because they couldn’t just be carried out when their morale bar reached zero!

It's Expansion Time

in Living World

Posted by: Fey Zeal.7032

Fey Zeal.7032

I can agree that a boxed product for GW2 with additional marketing behind it would benefit the game in more ways that one.

However, a traditional expansion will not benefit GW2 in any way. By traditional I mean 10 or so new character levels (never going to happen, because of power creep issues) and handful of new zones and a dungeon or two.

Why? Because like it or not that model is inherently flawed it only creates ghost towns of old content (which we have already in my opinion) and after a while introduces one of two things, either a skip to 80 scroll or the nerfing of existing content and devaluing any items from that content by result although less so when we are talking about cosmetics which is pretty much all there is aside from the newly added utility of legendaries (and their never to be the second best guarantee).

As much as I want to see new zones and even new continents if they are made available in the traditional ways it will simply thin out the playerbase even more and by proxy feed into some of the other things I mentioned above (although it was not entirely without sarcasm, for ArenaNet that touts on innovation, I really don’t see them giving into those problems).

In short: substantial landmass additions no, more content yes. If they want to add landmass then they will have to do it in a way that does not reduce the original game into essentially a single player venture.

Honestly if they announced an expansion, by that word alone users have certain expectations… ones which ArenaNet might not want to meet (power creep and invalidating existing zones by adding more and more landmass). Or maybe they do… but I don’t think anyone likes seeing content they spend years making be reduced into an empty wasteland by comparison to what came after.

There is a reason why they like temporary stuff and it is not only to keep players coming back for all patches (because if they don’t they miss it) but also to avoid there being more content than the playerbase can populate same reason why they went with rotating activities.

Temporary stuff is not going to keep the majority of players’ interests. Player base is helped through expansions in two ways. It keeps old player by renewing their interest in the game. And second, by giving something new to market that will likely draw in new players.

Guild Wars is not built on increasing levels or armor stats. I find this a pointless topic to mention. What an update would entail for GW2 would be new areas, armor skins, weapon skins, races, skills, traits and maybe finally just moving the story along… They mentioned they did not want to introduce new professions but I think that is at their disadvantage.

If you think anet is going to keep the majority of its fan base with monthly content, when new games start coming out you are foolish. The living story is basically filler and very few people make nice comments about filler. Even if it’s good filler.

One last thing the game is already a single venture with the exception of dungeons. And that’s not really a bad thing anyway, it’s nice to have a choice.

Daily Monthly Achivement Points Farm Capped

Fey Zeal.7032

Good lord, seriously? You can’t just give up the fact that someone who plays more than you can and should be able to get more achievement points?

This is how I feel in a nutshell. Why did I have to be born in a generation of people who get angry at people who work hard for rewards, and conversely (although not exactly related to OP) get angry when they don’t get handed rewards for nothing.

The way I see it, if someone feels like putting in the extra work for these points, there’s no reason they shouldn’t get rewarded for it. In fact, if you’re going to talk about it being competitive (which it isn’t, I don’t care if there’s a leaderboard, they could make a leaderboard for # of facebook friends, does that make it competitive?) then by all means, someone willing to put in the full amount of effort deserves to be on top. I mean, I’m not sure exactly how it works, but can someone maintain a top spot on the tpvp leaderboard by only playing 2 matches a day?

You are right, I was wrong thank you for you input.

Fey Zeal.7032

It is not nonsense, to award no achievement points but give an alternate rewarded instead. The infinite sanctum sprint achievement that gives a rare every time you complete it but it rewards 0 achievement points.

If achievement points meant nothing to begin with why did Anet have an entire Ranking board created around them? They did mean something before not after daily and monthlies. I am ok with those achievements that lack skill because they have a Cap, unlike daily / monthly. Those achievements also generate very small AP. Also they do not take up 90% of the achievements, this is a very biased statistic.

Daily and monthlies do limit freedom and do devolve the game into kill 1000 of x. They do that in spades. And you are not forced to kill 1000 x there are many achievements like Jumping Puzzles, World v World and sPvP that are truly dynamic and entertaining. But I guess the population of Gw2 would rather, to everyday do this…

……………

(Keep in mind everyday = 365 per year)
So 11 of the mindless above x 365 = 4015 AP For nothing
But i guess dailies give you a trivial amount of points as you put it?

What part of the above isn’t mindless farming in its own right? Aside from dungeons, personal story and maybe few others?

And we haven’t even touched Monthly PvE/sPvP or Daily sPvP.

As for retooling the system well.. they need not do that. They just need to ad more Unique Achievements and or buff the points from existing ones.

Is your argument literally that if someone wanted to, they could do every daily category for a year and get 4000AP and that’s not fair? Really? I mean, really? The vast majority of players do the 5 required dailies and move on, but you’re concerned that some crazy basement dweller could potentially play all day, get every daily/monthly and then receive ~4000 AP over the course of a year and that shouldn’t be allowed because it isn’t fair to more casual players?

Good lord, seriously? You can’t just give up the fact that someone who plays more than you can and should be able to get more achievement points? You have to say there should be a cap so that no matter how much they play they can’t have an advantage over someone who plays a fraction as much?

That’s like someone who can only work 40hrs in a week complaining that they don’t make as much as someone who works 60hrs (20hrs overtime at 1.5x pay). “That’s not fair he can make more money because he put in more hours! I don’t have the opportunity to work extra hours because I have a busy schedule! No one else should be allowed to work extra hours for extra benefit if I can’t! Put a cap on their hours! If anything the AP they earn should go into a community pool to be split amongst those that can’t/don’t want to work as hard or as long!”

Welcome to Soviet Tyria.

(I realize no one suggested that last part, just seems like we are headed in that path)

A. The points are too easy to earn
B. They are Endless (although only from my view point)
C. Dedication should be rewarded

I suppose we should have a rank board for time spent in game? According to your logic. I mean they spent the most time in game lets Rank and award them for it?

So, Fey… how exactly are people doing dailies negatively affecting your game play again?

Try reading all the above and trolling less? But basically why implement a rank system for something with daily and monthlies invloved?

You’ve missed the point.

How is this hurting you. It’s that simple.

It is not about how it hurts me. It has to do with the AP Rank system being flawed in my view.

So 11 mindless task a day x 365 = 4015 AP For practically nothing

I don’t mind if Anet caps daily’s at something like 4015 AP, I mean that should be enough to appease everyone right? Probably not. The game has not been out a year it would be possible to cap them that high. I’m not saying they should remove the AP form daily/monthly all together.

But really 4015 easy points just from dailies, not to mention the 840 from PvE monthlies.

I suppose we have no other way of earning 25k AP though.
Although heaven forbid if we wanted to value or AP rank.

I guess I really should just be asking for a second AP Rank Board without without daily/monthlies, that wouldn’t step on anyone’s toes would it?

This topic is only bothering people who want to farm Achievement Points and don’t value their rank, or individuals who cannot see you will never catch up in rank to the “top players” who have endless free time.

Anet will likely add many new achievement point sources; whether or not they keep daily and monthly AP uncapped.

Achievement rewards are supposed to be long term goals like Legendary Weapons.

Nope. It is nonsensical to call something a “daily” or “monthly” achievement yet not award achievement points for them on a daily or monthly basis.

Achievement points never meant anything to begin with, but since they attached progression to it, it must be open to everyone. If we reduced achievements to solely those that required skills, then 90% of pve should not count for achievements.

Dailies are generic and random enough to allow freedom of play instead of taking exclusive detours. Eventually when one “runs out” of interesting achievement points they would have to do things like “Kill 1000 of x” and other nonsensical detours. The game should never devolve into such nonsense. In essence, it allows everyone an equal chance to approach of it their own accord. In other words it allows the most people the largest amount of freedom of play. If choices are limited, then it becomes unfun, and a “grind”.

Instead, they should make new challenging achievements and boost the value of them as well as the more difficult achievements. You should have a choice of doing trivial dailies for 4 points, or a difficult yet swift activity for 25 points. Doing the more difficult activity should enable a better ratio for time spent. In reality, I think the difficult achievements are the ones that should be able to be repeated (with a weekly limit or something)

I’m all for capping leaderboard points regarding dailies and monthlies, but outside of that, it’s nobody’s business but mine especially since they attached this kind of progression. Otherwise, a full retool of the system is needed.

[Regional] Event Completer 0/4: Do x
[Regional] Killer 0/40: Kill x
[Regional] Veteran Killer 0/3 : Kill x
Ambient Killer 0/30: Kill x
Condition Applier: Do x Sneeze once while auto hitting on a Necro
Condition Remover 0/20: Do x
Costume Brawl Champion 0/1: Do x
Crab Toss Champion 0/1: Do x
Daily Aquatic Slayer 0/25: Do xSlay x?
Daily Champion Slayer 0/1: Do xSlay x?
Daily Crafter 0/10: Do x Sneeze once: while refining 10 mats
Daily Dodger 0/15: Do x
Daily Events 0/5: Do x
Daily Feast 0/25 : Buy x + Eat x 25 pieces of food of the TP and spam them all
Daily Fractal Runner 0/1
Daily Gatherer 0/20: Farm x
Daily Laurel Vendor: Talk Once
Daily Kill Variety 0/13: Kill x
Daily Kills 0/50: Kill x
Daily Mists Caravan Disruptor 0/5: Kill x
Daily Mists Invasion Defender 0/10: Kill x
Daily Puzzle Jumper 0/1: Do x find the easiest jumping puzzle you know and do it
Daily Puzzle Discoverer 0/3: Do x port to LA, go to the entrance of its 3 JP
Daily Reviver: Farm x
Daily Veteran Slayer 0/5: Kill xSlay x?
Dungeon Completer 0/1
Event Mentor 0/5: Do x
Group Event Completer 0/2: Do x
Karma Spender 0/750: Talk Once
Keg Brawl Scorer: Do x
Keg Brawl Stealer: Do x
Keg Brawl Fumble Forcer: Do x
Leveler 0/1
Mystic Forgesmith 0/5: Do x
Personal Story Completer 0/1
Recycler 0/10: Do x
Skill Interruptor 0/15: Do x
Skill Point Accumulator 0/3: Do x
Story Dungeon Completer 0/1

(Keep in mind everyday = 365 per year)
So 11 of the mindless above x 365 = 4015 AP For nothing
But i guess dailies give you a trivial amount of points as you put it?

What part of the above isn’t mindless farming in its own right? Aside from dungeons, personal story and maybe few others?

And we haven’t even touched Monthly PvE/sPvP or Daily sPvP.

As for retooling the system well.. they need not do that. They just need to ad more Unique Achievements and or buff the points from existing ones.

No. Why do people still want to have dailies/monthlies capped? I’ve heard reasons again and again and none of them seem to have solid reasoning.

Dailies/monthlies will maintin and increase the longevity of the game. ANet wants people to log in every single day.

Sure, you can do harder achievements and feel like you “achieved” something, afterall, that’s what an achievement means, correct? Think about it from another perspective then.. what do most people deem dailies/monthlies as? a time commitment, nothing less, nothing more. it’s not based on skill. it’s not even based on luck. however, does that mean time is worthless? time is the ONE thing we cannot buy. and if someone was dedicated enough to log in to play 30mins a day (say both PvE and PvP daily), does it make him any less than other players who are hunting the other achievments?

again, i think they could severely rework the “weight” of other achievements. for example, equipping 5 unique legendaries, in terms of AP, should not equate to 25 days worth of dailies (or less if you do every single daily category). and WvW there should be more points per “achievement tier” cause they are massive. and even within the same category, perhaps Giant Slayer should be way worth more than Bunny Slayer or the equivalent.

but i feel it’s more than fine and SHOULD keep dailies/monthlies contribution to your total AP. yes, someone started earlier and have stuck through the game this entire time. it may not be fair for a new player, but would it be fair for the vet players? it’s all perspective, and all relative. i think keeping dailies/monthlies in the long run, will better help the game than capping them.

I gave many reasons they should be capped first off. Second laurels and the rewards are what keep many doing daily /monthlies right now not the achievement points.

Further more it is not dailies and monthlies that increase the longevity of the game. New content, new achievements (not daily and monthlies), the new achievement rewards system we now have. The other rewards form form daily and not the points received from them. And many other such elements.

I should say your narrow mindedness of daily and monthlies is more than enough reason to hard cap them. Grinding them for nothing more than points will eventually turn player base away who cant keep up. The rewards from achievement points however may keep people going. So Anet is now playing a game of chance on whether the rewards from AP will be enough over the AP themselves. I am simply asking why not let both incentives remain?
