It’s not going to happen. Replacing people creates political issues that ANet is not going to get involved in.

I wanted to change my guild name, since another guild had the same name and didn’t want to lose the influence we already had. Didn’t happen. Had to restart the guild.

The guild leader made the guild, only option is to start your own and do it now so you can build up influence. I suggest you put a message on the Guild page and chat members and move them over if you can. If not, only option is to wait until the leader is on and hope he will abandon his post.

You need to get a dungeon recipe. I have tried the high end tailoring items and they do not sell very fast and the undercutting is brutal.

I was told to do this to make money. Horribly…hasn’t worked out as much as flipping mats on the TP.

I do have a questions about map completion though. I currently have 100% map completion. Will this change going forward when they continue to add waypoints and other POI?

Comes down to what you like. Farming in this game isn’t that hard.

I can make 7g an hour if I pve normally. 7 * lets say for examples sake 8 = 56g / day

56g * 7 = 392g

392g * 4 = 1568g

You can make most legendaries in a months time if you farm that much a day. Some people are actually willing to do that, too. It comes down to do you want to effort for something pretty.

7g an hour playing normally? WTF am i missing? Or are you counting as farming Pent/Shelter or speed runs of P1 in COF as “normal pve”?

He is speaking of hitting Orr and any drops, selling them all on the TP. I never make that much because I keep everything unless I am 100% full of that item in my bank.

I also agree on the character sheet. I would also like to know more from the Devs on how the MF increases your chance on getting loot. I don’t think there has been enough info on this to see if it is indeed worth running with it. Please give us percentages or how it works.

As an GW2 investment advisor, ( I kid) if they are not planning on playing the game very much, they should take their gold and invest it in rare drop mats instead of asking for interest from a bank.

I would like to take it a step further and have the “to be banned player” teleported to Lions Arch and placed in a Pillory for a day with a sign of what the person did. Then have them placed into the mystic toilet. All players at LA at this time would get a free gift from the toilet.

The price difference in the conversion makes this nearly impossible to make money in this manner. Like other say, invest in something else.

While it’s theoretically possible (and even somewhat remotely plausible) that the formula for gem prices includes some sort of “per capita income” variable, there’s no reason to assume it has to be there.

Gold is automatically created in various places as Ursan notes. There is absolutely no good economic reason why gold should not simply be destroyed. The 15% (it’s actually a higher rate than this when you account for failed postings still pay the 5% portion of the tax) is simply destroyed to keep the money supply from inflating out of control.

Ursan noted that you’re “overthinking” it. I might say you’re “underthinking.” Just consider the money supply if that 15% is not simply destroyed. If you can average 1.5g in straight gold creation in a single AC run, and tens of thousands of people do at least one of those per day, what will happen if there is effectively no TP tax (as reinjecting the tax elsewhere in the money supply has, ceteris paribus, the same effect as the tax not existing)? The money supply would quickly increase unabated, and we’d end up with significant (if not hyper-) inflation.

My point is what if it is “not” being destroyed and is in fact going back to the public via drops. Who is to say that ANEt did not set up the world with a certain amount of gold, towards drops and now that we are full tilt, the economy is self sufficient because of the 15% TP tax going back directly to the people. The world never goes below that set amount of gold, it just moves around when people trade something on the TP and the tax gets put back into the drops.

Then Anet would just add different Mats/items to also move the money around again. Only money that comes in is via Gems to gold. The gold to gem also takes cash off the top and back into the system as well.

Anytime you add more gold/ coin into the system, you run the risk to cause an influx to the economic structure. I am sure they would want to limit the amount of activity from occurring.

My hypothesis sounds more secure and stable which would lessen the amount of damage that could be caused to the monetary system by always pumping and having an infinite amount of coin/gold in the system.

Right now, people are not complaining about cash, but are complaining about drops of certain materials.

I may be completely wrong, and I hope that John comes and responds. But odds are that they are probably not going to spill the details to their special sauce just to show who might be right and who might be wrong in this thread.

I understand. The point I was making is, what is happening to this money or tax? People say that ANET is influencing things. (Which of course they can by changing the drop amounts, rates or what mat is dropped) but if this tax was a pool of money/ treasury funds and they were not just printing money, indeed have a formula where the drops were coming out of the tax money on the TP, then all this talk about them influencing the GW2 economy would stop.

That would not work with the economy they are trying to have. It has to be put in the game and not magically just go away.

That would cause huge fluctuations in the gold price being stable/unstable if the air just evaporated it, while ANET turns down or up the drop rates/amounts for silver/copper.

Would cause market issues and possible inflation if they devalued their currency.

Nice response Ursan. Well, then what happens to the 15% tax on posting and sales of items on the TP? Is that money just removed from the world? Or does ANET take this money and use it for the drops in game?

Can you explain on how, when you buy gems, and it is converted to gold in game, where does the gold come from? Is this from the 15% that is taken with sales on the TP/tax?

You want a speed boost? Easy, give the mini’s special attributes and we can finally stop with all the mount threads that come up here on a daily basis. You want a pet moa, great….now here’s a 5% speed boost. etc.

I think my idea would end alot of complaining and hits multiple birds with one stone. So the time remaining before reset wouldn’t clutter up the beautiful UI. I don’t want more than I already have on my UI. The time remaining counter would not make everyone happy just cause more complaining. My Idea has very little room for complaints.

I personally think it should not be on the UI. It should be on the Hero panel and opening up the achievements tab to daily though.

If WvW is that important to you and your server sucks, then pay the fee and move to a different one.

Just horrible though for all the people trying to get 100% map completion that now have to wait for their server to be good in WvW.

I am not asking for approval of a specific website, like they did for Spidy and continue to say is acceptable. What I am asking, is this program is asking to be directed to spidy or to the game ram for real time quotes of items without the lag in pricing. Is this acceptable to have the ram searched by the program, or is this going to show up as a bot/against policy.

I just want clarification. I am sure the maker of this also would like to have clarification as well, so if it does go against the code of conduct, he can get rid of this option.

A “I wouldn’t do that” by John or some other DEV would clear this up pretty fast.

To do it right, they would need to have a ticker with buy and sell orders, quantities, and a number associated with said person/account.

Then you can track what is going on in game and be able to look up who is buying what.

This would tell who is the casual flipper and who is trying to push prices up in the market.

Not going to happen though.

Converting T5 dust into T6 dust via mystic forge isnt viable now because the price of T5 dust also skyrocketed in price. So you can just sell T5dust and buy T6 dust. Otherwise its only loss of skillpoints

I haven’t done it for over 2 weeks. I guess I lucked out when the price was low. Always an option if it goes down again.

I just found one online doing a quick search. It looks like the script is made to sell 11 items in your inventory bag. It determines what the sell/buy margin is and if it should sell/buy the item.

Guy says that he can make 1-2 gold an hour using it.

Take a look. When this came out on the forum though, it made the price of pebbles go up.

I bought about 250 of each pebble and gave it a try. I think I got 6 -11 which I sold a the time. Just another option for you.

You can get them from upgrading pebbles in the Mystic Toilet. But the prices of said pebbles went up because of the recipe. It gives you a chance to get an upgrade or the same mat level. You are just hoping that the genie is mean and gives you this by mistake. I also thought they were in bag of Trinkets as well as a random bag drop.

People really need to quit complaining about things in the game. I hate to tell everyone, but not everyone likes to do the same things in this game. For some, WvW is pulling teeth. They would rather do PVE. Some just love to do dungeons. Some love to just do Orr. It is what it is.

On the waypoint front. If you don’t like them, don’t use them. Simple as that. I for one put a price on my time. If that is 4 silver to go from one side of the map to Orr, then so be it. I pay for that luxury and understand the costs associated with the travel.

I asked before if the scanning gw2 memory was allowable or is this a bannable offense if you choose this option over Spidy…..

Remember that Sell orders != supply and buy order != demand

John, as you are well aware, usually the person putting down the buy order IS the main seller of said product.

If a wealthy seller of a high-paced market product – who heavily invested in this product, and thus wants his product to sell high – puts down a buy order of 2500 units of the SAME product (that he himself is selling), the current market system will heavily awards him for his manipulation. Why? Because the market is not going for his buy order to get filled; people need this product, and they need it today. So, they overbid. The person placing the ludicrous buy order knows this, it was his intention for this to happen. So the price is pushed up. Again, and again, and again. At utterly illogical increments (why would a person drive up the buy order price by large increments, if that person was genuinely interested in buying a product at the lowest possible price?). Ultimately, when the price is REALLY high, the market becomes slower (because hey, it’s a darn big investment for the average player to buy this product in quantities above 10 units). This is actually a good thing for the seller. He can kick back and relax, sell his product and start investing in the next product to manipulate.

Supply = sell offer
Demand = buy offer

Yes, in practice these are two different things. Yet both figures are often controlled by the same person(s). If the seller is rich enough, practice has learned that there IS no risk for the seller to put down ludicrous buy offers to drive up the price.

This leads me to the next proposal, geared at protecting markets vulnerable to large scale market manipulation:

Per account, you can only place X gold in buy offers without paying taxes.
Beyond that, you start paying taxes.

I suspect X should probably be somewhere in the range of 150g or lower, but that’s just guestimating. It’s certainly not a perfect system, but I would argue it is – at the very least – better than what we have right now.

Just saw a video of this tactic online. And you wonder why mats went sky high. I understand that bot banning was part of this, but how do you stop these people that have this much wealth to inflate the TP?

As I said again in another post, it is not a bot that is doing this stuff. But people that spend all day on the TP inflating the buy/sell orders in their favor. It also just causes more manipulation now that everyone in the world has Spidy and can see when it is also profitable for them to start flipping said item if the range is big enough.

Not going to happen. I asked before when the guild I created had the same guild tag as someone else if they could change it or give us the opportunity to change it. Gems, whatever….and they said no. We decided to disband the guild, losing all our rep and starting over with a new one. Ran into the same issue again.

In the end. They will not be changing the letter limit to the guild tag. They also will not let you change it to something else to not lose rep. So, long story short, you are just going to have to deal with it. Sorry.

The increased tax would just be added or passed through to the new cost of the item and transferred to the new buyers.

It would just increase the costs to everyone buying stuff on the TP.

If I am going to spend the time to kill one of these, you would think you would be compensated more in coin or spoils then killing a regular creature.

I saw on the net that you are banning the gold buyers, and not just the sellers, and I applaud you for doing so, but it looks like a number of them are getting away with getting their ill gotten gains by using the guild bank as a transfer. Just thought I would let you know.

I just love how a number of you people are complaining about prices for items increasing. I hate to tell you, but that is how a free market system works.

The price will go to whatever someone is willing to pay and overall wealth of the community. There will always be haves and have nots.

You really have 5 options,
1) play more, watch your spending, budget, and make more money
2) buy gems and convert to gold
3) play the MF toilet
4) Give up on a legendary
5) quit playing altogether

This is a big world people. Costs will continue to go up based on how much gold is in the system and a overall wealth of the community.

When the game first came out 3 gold was a lot of money. Now, 100G is nothing.

So don’t hold your breath on costs going down anytime soon.

Correct, but you should be rewarded for this and kills. The current reward system is way out of wack. Why would you reward more for doing a jumping puzzle then playing WVW and helping take over and defending bases, killing other teams members.

If you want to reward for jumping puzzles, give them something else.

You can sell most of the existing precursors to buy another one instead.

Only underwater and minstrel aren’t really worth it yet.

I disagree with the OP. I just did a quick search on the interweb and I could not find one TP bot out there that can do the undercutting that is suspected.

The only bots out there are the run around ones that get the ask price on the TP when they are dumping mats/items.

So you are not seeing bots. You are seeing real live people that are undercutting you.

All the crafting is pretty much useless unless you have cooking and are making omni bars for buffs. or have a special recipe from a dungeon drop.

You cannot make enough money doing the crafts unless you get the recipe drops.
