The price level of goods on the trading post is directly related to the ratio of gold production to goods production; that is P is proportional to M/Y.
Opening the boxes generates raw gold (increases M, inflationary), but also produces lodestones (increases Y, deflationary). The effect on the aggregate price level, from that information alone, is indeterminate.
To anticipate inflation/deflation, we have to guess if the M/Y of the new output is greater or less than the M/Y of the prior economy. If the new M/Y is greater than the prior one, the net effect is inflationary; if the new M/Y is less than the prior, it is deflationary.
The M/Y from the boxes seems to be somewhere between 1/8 and 1/10; and I’m pretty confident that the M/Y of the greater economy is much, much greater than 1/6.
That means that the boxes are adding more goods, proportionally, to the trading post than raw money from selling unidentifiable objects, which will, on the whole, drive prices down.
That would be correct. With more items that are sold, it will create less demand. I am sure that this is part of the “Help” to lower the prices on high mats that people are buying up like crazy/hoarding to turn a profit on.
Personally, I think the drop rates also have increased across the board with the new update. Makes me wonder if they also fixed the magic find where I am actually getting better drops. Who knows.

Will there be mounts?
No. For traveling long distance, the game will offer the two types of teleports above (waypoints and asura gates), but the initial release does not have any other methods, i.e. there are no mounts or ships.

I personally think it is a good idea to get some of the mats off the TP market. Lord knows, I see a lot more people hitting the nodes now. Might be short lived though. I hate the jumping puzzles and WvW stuff. But thems the breaks. #kittened
You can just convert ore to ingots to get the crafting. Not really a big deal.

You should really bring up pricing. How the transaction will go down, agreed 3rd party, etc.
So you take the idea of a dragoon ( which is a foot solider that specializes in dragon combat with abilities that allow him or her to leap great distances [ as per DnD ] ) and made it into a plee for mounts to be put into the game which are not needed.
I have no issues with your dragoon profession just remove the mounted BS. Mounts are not needed in the game IMO.

You already have the ability to change your gear/skills to reflect a true healer role if that is what you want to do.
I already made a thread to this idea because of multiple same tagged Guilds. But have different Long names.
Long story short, I ran into a guy with the same tag, different guild. I asked CS for the ability to change tags. No dice.
Decided to start another guild, different name. Started over on the Rep and items earned. Ran into another person with the same tags for this one as well.
You would think that they would have something in place where only one tag per server could be used, or the ability to change your tag/name without losing your rep.
I am very disappointed that this is not an option at the gem store and that Anet did not think that this was not an issue when making the game.
I agree with the progression. When you find an animal that can become a pet, it should be a baby. Then while it levels up, it should get other attributes just like your toon and get bigger in size, until it is what the current size pets are. I am sure that the code to do this on ANet is just a pain in the kitten.
The elite skills are diseased. I am currently using a Charr Warrior as my main char and I rarely use anything due to them being 95% worthless. I would love for the GW1 elites to be in this game or let us use an alternative skill.
Not only would I like to see this, but I would like to see a preview of dungeon armor, where I could cross the armor from one dungeon and see how it looks together.

We already have the Mystic Toilet. On a serious note, I understand the want. I just don’t see how it could happen because of colluding and botting. Only thing I can see is a lottery based system where you pick numbers or get tickets for a price. Maybe tokens for day rewards being used.
Agree. You should have options that you like to do. Might be more of a certain kind, to get the monthly, but I should not be forced to be jumping puzzle guy if I don’t want to.
First and foremost, please use the search feature so that every other day, we do not have another mounts thread.
With that being said, waypoints and skills are an in game feature to eliminate the need for a mounted creature.
I for one do not want to see more animals sitting around clogging up maps, towns, etc. I also don’t want them adding to the culling problem in WvW or a dragon fight.

I would like to see siege Towers as an option in WvW. Slow moving and has to be pushed by a certain amount of people to get it up to the wall.
With the amount of time, cost for the kits, you might as well just purchase them off the TP.
Why don’t you lower the price even more of your Incinerator and ensure it sells?
I always undercut by 1c. I really don’t get this 20S or whatever that these people do. It just seems they leave a lot of profit on the TP. If I can make a profit, I have no reason not to only do the 1c.
WvW should not be mandatory for the 100% of map exploration. I am stuck at 94% or whatever since my server is not going to hold certain regions on WvW and I refuse to change to get it.
Even if they go up 10 silver, the profit isn’t going to be very good. Even if you buy 250 of them on the current price of 28.06, if you sold at 35 silver, you are only going to make 4.22 gold on putting up 70.15 gold.
Sorry, but tying up that amount of money, just is not worth it to me for a total profit for 4.22 gold.
I agree. The decision to dump fractals, an endless dungeon with unique rewards, in the middle of the main hub city of the game, was the worst one they could have ever made. A massive amount of the population has decided to ignore all other content but the fractals now, and they’re all funneled in the same place. There needs to be more incentive to push those players back out into the game world rather than keeping them in the All Needs Met biodome of Lions Arch.
They should just move the fractal dungeon on a weekly basis to a new map or something. Get it out of Lions.

You forgot to say….when a special event occurs….EX. Wintersday, sell whatever you are getting for high prices right away knowing that the bottom will drop out later, at the tail end of the event.
They are trying to make it more difficult to move the market on items. As a trader, I could look at an item, see if there is a big enough spread where it would be worth it to buy up all the little orders under and then place a huge sell order higher.
With the 250 limit, it takes a lot more time to create movement where it is near impossible for one person to corner the market on said item for huge profitability.
For the love of god, can someone explain to me why there is not an option to have auto accept for when you are doing mystic forge items. It’s not like you can say, No I don’t want it. It just shows you what you received. Please make it as an option to have it automatically received without the click.
You also have to take into account that prices of the materials fluctuate.
That’s what I said in my post before. I see that http://www.guildwarstrade.com has something like I proposed in my previous post, but haven’t really looked into how accurate it is on buy/sell pricing. on crafting an item.
I might have to give it a shot and see if it is accurate this evening.

Name change in GW1 is like $9.99. Get ready for some gem pain when this comes out.
Bots are 100% hurtful. But the big issue with the economy was that it took so long to ban them. This length of time with them in game hurt the economy by keeping prices down with inflated mat supply amounts in the TP. Now that they are getting the ban hammer, prices are going sky high.
Am I happy their numbers are down? Hell yes! But, the bot problem should of been taken care of at a faster rate before they negatively influenced the economy or Arenanet should of had something implemented pre-release.
Problem is that people don’t want to take the time to do the math and figure out how much it cost them to make something. Too bad there isn’t a calculator that uses current pricing in mats calculating where you can just click on the mats, it will bring up a pic of mat/fill in current mat pricing add up everything.
You could even tie it to known crafting recipes for how much it would cost to craft things at current trading post prices to see if it would be even worth it.
The simple fact is that anyone who makes a lot of money from flipping or otherwise playing the trading post is hurting other players.
Everytime a trader makes a profit with no risk another player takes a loss with no gain.

This in fact increases the amount of that once held product on the TP and should lower that price since there will now be more in the market.

It won’t necessarily close the gap between buy and sell, but it does increase the amount of said item on the market and a better chance of movement in pricing.
Movement in pricing is always determined by amount of said item on the TP. Then the undercutting occurs. Too many people want to sell items fast for the cash and move on, especially with the limited amount of storage.
Not my fault for taking advantage of the swings and playing the market. I am not ashamed for doing it as a secondary money maker in the background while farming, doing other stuff in the game, or while I am at work.
