You can just copy the whole folder. This applies to every online games and most game that i know. If you want to remove all in your old hdd, remember to copy GW2 screenshot from “My Documents”. All installing did that is different from copy paste, is that it register the application in Windows Registry so some other application can recognize it without having user to manually point to it. You can also install GW2 on your new windows without downloading the whole game (or close when download start), then paste your backup to your new installed GW2, and start repairing GW2 (if you’re paranoid) or just run it directly.

Do I get 2 accounts if I already own Gw2

Ok thanks guys. But I think you have not understood my question. Let me ask it again in more detail.

Suppose that I have 2 computers:
1.- computer 1 has GW2 installed.

NOW,
Suppose that I buy GW2 + expansion, this I will install it on computer 2.

Question:

Will i get 2 accounts to play?

Okay, I’ll answer your question.

You do not need another pc to have multiple account.

You will only get another account if you wish not to upgrade your current one and get a new one and start from scratch.

Only the second account will have HoT.

You can have a million accounts and play on them, but not at the same time.

you just fed the troll yourself

Arena net's definition of RMT?

in Account & Technical Support

Frostroses.4196

So, 2 of guild mates just got banned, not newbie scrubs, but someone with very high AP. One of them is my in game teacher, taught me about dungeons back when i died on lower level mobs, step on landmine, and jump off cliff. The last few weeks, we’re promoting transfer to certain server for WvW purpose, they might be donating/sending/receiving 10-100g via guild bank, for some of our guild mates to purchase gem (not that i checked with them). They are pretty sure they weren’t purchasing gold, or selling it, ever. They tried to appeal by ticket, three times, all rejected, and no further information whatsoever about what they did wrong, just reply that looked so automated (thanks for contacting us, we can’t help, you don’t have to know why, third times already, no more support after this, bye).

I am not here to defend or appeal for them, no, i have my own question. Will i just get up one day, and look at all my hard work the past year gone, and without explanation other that i’m somehow involved in RMT, and can’t even get to know what was my fault.

“I am feeling lazy today, a ticket just in, another RMT appeal case, the system algorithm quite accurate, no need for further investigation, here down the ban hammer, say good bye to all your hard works, we don’t care what you’ve DONE or NOT DONE, after all, no loss on our side.”, is what i speculate is in concerned party’s mind.

Here my question:
- can i get banned for sending stuff to guild mates, and after a couple days, they return the stuff (replacing what i send them, usually time gated stuff)?
- can i get banned for crafting stuff on my alt account and sending the result to my main account (i got one alt account from discount back in HoT’s announcement)?
- can i get banned if i played on internet cafe which happen to have another GW2 player?
- can i get banned if i send 10-200g donation to fellow guild member via guild bank for server transfer purpose?
- in case i got banned after this post, can i get know reason ( and what do i have to do, to get explanation of my account termination), or it’s strictly Arena Net’s employee only?
- what are stuff i do, that Arena Net can categorize as RMT (obviously i know selling and buying gold is illegal, i even block and report people for that)?

Same thing happened to me and my guild mates. Everything else is okay (browsing, youtube/twitch, downloading). Strange thing is, we’re from same ISP, everyone else is doing okay in my guild. After using -diag command, the log show 80-100% packet lost on anet domain (not sure if that is my ISP fault or Anet’s host).

Kicking Other Players (not stealing dungeons)

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Frostroses.4196

Frostroses.4196

Add don’t kick option and even 24hr ban, and when group decide to kick anyway, the one choose “don’t kick” will have their “don’t kick” function disabled for 24hr. That is FAIR. Player who kick a lot (like me) have their kicks reviewed, and player whose get kicked a lot, get their join group (lfg) reviewed too. That is FAIR.

LFG have their description there, do what they as you too, or at least try to be friendly by responding to what they ask, even if you don’t fully meet the criteria, people might still take you with them. If the group lfg ask you to ping armor, then you join, without doing anything, walk to them in dungeon and says nothing but can emote something like /sit, it is only fair that you get kicked.

Not only you have weird/unpleasant experience, this is part of online gaming. The one kicking you PROBABLY feel the same as you, they felt their time wasted. For example, i run dungeon with guild mates, we usually run with only 3 or 4 people, but since i’m leading that day, i decide to run with 5 to speed up the run (need gold for guild’s pvp room). I put up berserkers with requirement to ping on lfg. Then one people i don’t know with 9k AP join, and start insulting me (probably joking) as soldier running berserkers only dungeon even after i ping my own armor. The run hasn’t even started, and after i block and kick him, he whisper to one guild mates in the group (i don’t ask about what he said). What do you think of that?

Randomly Lag and Stutters.

Frostroses.4196

- have something to monitor your pc temperature, if there is something out of ordinary, temp peak very high during normal gameplay (e.g Speedfan), that is the cause, install new cooling solution or replace the old (possibly dying) part that cause it.
- play some other graphical intense game, did the stuttering also happen?
- are you using hdmi cable?
- at what resolution are you playing?
- do you know the difference between lag, stuttering, and tearing?
- have you check your gpu card socket, there is a possibility that you plug it on low speed socket (pci-e 1 as opposed to pci-e 2 )
- have you check your power supply? how old is it? how high the output?
- have you check your bios setting on your CPU multiplier? there is a possibility that the multiplier randomly set to 1x and cause your CPU run far slower than it should. Has happen to me before.
- Install the proper driver? clean install windows (when i replace the CPU, i usually clean install everything)
will probably update if i remember something or find out more.

White Screen Drytop/Silverwastes

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Frostroses.4196

Frostroses.4196

when i get white screen, it usually followed by “disconnected from server” prompt. The speed up also happen but never (as i’m aware) after complete white screen. Both are caused by request time out or delay for the packet to reach my PC client, my theories: its because my downlink bandwidth sometime can’t keep up with the amount of packets sent from server, and when the packets finally reach my PC all at once it cause the “speed up” activity on the screen or de-sync from server timing. The other possible cause is hard disk drive where your GW2 installed could be old/faulty, and often slow down under heavy load (this however, is unlikely to happen).

Making other PvE stat combos viable

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Frostroses.4196

Frostroses.4196

even with boost like that, they’re still useless in PVE speedrun for these (obviously exaggerated) reasons:
1. Berserker kill everything under 30 seconds but party can wipe within 1 second VS Healing/Toughness/Vitality can carry the team to fight the boss without dying for 60 minutes but the boss wont die before 30 minutes mark.
2. Berserker still kill as fast as example one, Condi obviously have upgraded damage (from its longer duration), but a whole group still limited to condi debuff stack limit, even with the duration boost, it just meant that they only have to hit one stack and wait until next 30 minutes when the boss will die of stacks of condition damage that never expire.

other than speedrun, every builds useful if played right and composed in balance.

Better Crafting?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Frostroses.4196

Frostroses.4196

not too many, in fact, there are more unbound items than bound one. Bound crafting materials usually for high end tier craft only (legendary, ascended, or unique exotic), as for low level bound equip, most of them drop from personal story or quest rewards. For crafting, that is the way this game limit the speed to complete your crafting progress (HELLO PEOPLE OF LION’S ARCH; I JUST COMPLETE MY MEGA EPIC LEGENDARY AFTER GRUESOME 15 MINUTES HARD WORK). Most basic crafting materials are not bound, i can’t event name one basic material that is bound (please don’t name craft material that required for ascended/legendary or end game equip).

edit:
after a bit of pondering, i think i have found the issue with your problem. I believe what OP regards as bound items, are what he bought off NPC (with karma or gold). Those items are bound/un-salvage-able, to limit the availability of materials from NPC, so the market run with LESS dependency of NPC, not “without”, but “with less”. Of course there are also item from NPC that required in high tier crafting but account bound (like Obsidian Shard), you won’t need that for basic crafting, and items like that are the so called “time-gating” (or karma-gating in this case).

My only annoyance with bound items are when it comes to weapon drops. You’ll be running around Orr & receive a level 35 account bound weapon. Only option is to destroy the item if you do not have any low level alt. Either stop placing these low level items in level 80 zone or get rid of them.

Are you sure this ever happen? and in Orr at that? I never get 35 drop from such high level map (and high level character), probably with the exception of personal story rewards. This only happen when my 80 toon running around queensdale or slaying lv 5 mob (which drop ~lv 5 items and/or bags with lv 5 to lv 80 items inside).

You mean Diablo 3? WoW had Australian servers since the start

http://goo.gl/HUA861 http://goo.gl/nYgl8u
“Prior to the opening of the Australian data centre, all servers for the North American version of World of Warcraft (which includes Australia and New Zealand) were run out of the USA, including designated Oceanic servers aimed….”

On the main topic, i don’t think vpn will help in GW2 case, the lattency heavily depends on isp and the distance, sure, VPN (probably) helps on foreign networks like Japan’s or China’s, by cutting short unnecessary routing on that country’s network, but international server like GW2’s most likely have the most optimized routing possible. So sadly, us from asian region will have slight higher lattency (but of course it also depend on your isp quality) compared to EU/NA player.

also forgot to mention, the heart quest level 1-15 map is most likely revamped to make it faster, back then, i have to do at least 2 certain action (collect and submit) to increase the heart bar, now, its mostly press F and watch the heart bar rises (sometimes can even do that without stop running). But the higher level map (70-80 like cursed shore/orr) get messed up from what i heard.

New Character; Forced Mapping... Anet???

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Frostroses.4196

i leveled 3 toons (necro to 80, ranger to 42 and engineer to 32) after the patch, the leveling from 1 to 10 is way way way (yeah!) faster than before patch. People complain about locked traits and weapon/tool skillbar, but this is the first time i read leveling speed complain… i agreed with other comments, something must be wrong that it took “hours” to level to 10.

Map completion is not required, your “quest arrow” can be turned of in setting or ignored completely. That’s the new “experience” Anet want for new players, but it is not forced at all. It’s just to make newbies can learn easier (since its similar to other game quest system: arrow to next place). For example, even at level 2, the arrow will point to the nearest mission/quest/heart you haven’t complete on your map(or closest next map) even if its a level 10+ map IF your personal story is not available (the first one available at lv 10). The only downside is key farming took longer to complete if locked skill/trait/weapon slot can be ignored.

ps: i watch the cutscene and read the dialog too, not powerlevel everything.

But i probably won’t attempt to complete it the second time seeing as there are several more productive thing to do out there :P

It’s not like there is a class to tank anyway, melee get hit from boss, range is a bit safer form hit. This game is designed around dodging/reflect/invul, not tank and spank.

Rifle Warrior, backup weapon?

in Warrior

Posted by: Frostroses.4196

Frostroses.4196

Yeah no offense but if there’s one thing that drives me nuts the most when in pug groups it’s seeing + hearing a rifle warrior. That and seeing either banner of tactics or banner of defense.

It’s a good thing you’re prepared for the kicking because it’s probably going to happen a lot if you use ranged weapons often

The only ranged weapon that deals insanely high damage is staff on an elementalist. In just about any circumstance, melee weapons will always be ideal.

Never kick/kicked/being raged on upon using rifle as backup, must be one of those elitist “hardcore” then.

I use a GS main weapon, and rifle as a backup for quite a bit now, i don’t see a combination of melee+melee as a good thing in every case i ever faced. And for people like me, many recommend long bow instead, they have better dps (is what most said), it’s just i don’t like bow, they sound less powerful, not to mention i play the game for the fun, not for the uber number of dps.

Important note here, i don’t trait my warrior for rifle at all, all trait is for the benefit of GS since i only use them when dungeon boss moving a lot, or chasing down running player.

Pay with GEMS for new story??

Here is a bigger issue imho, I’ve completed almost all of the living stories since they started, and they want me to pay for the ones I already finished? Good luck to new players trying to find people to group with. I won’t be buying old content, but if I had access to it I would be happy to help others, going through it for the first time. Sorry Anet, Epic Fail on this one.

I just want to make sure, you’re talking about paying gem for S2, or anything else? From what i understand after reading patch info, you unlock living story once and forever. Method of unlocking it currently is: 1. Logging in during event, 2. Buy per episode via gem.

Notice the title of this tread is “Pay with GEMS for NEW STORY”,

there are always people replying on map chat everywhere i went to, the map is quite big to hold 100 player (maybe more, i dunno the cap) without everyone seeing each other. Your friend =/= GW2 population. Even more, if there are complain pop up in forum, THATs a PROVE that the game still ALIVE. If critics means dead game, find me an MMO title where there are no critics at all, 100% people love it.

“Well, if you have disability, or completely can’t login in two weeks window for LS update, why not add the despair of CAN’T buy for 200 gem from Gem Store.” is what Dizzie want?
1. Critics seems to forget that 200 gem can be obtained easily from converting gold… 200 gem is quite obtainable. I’m almost sure whoever complaining 200 gem price at this moment is yet to reach level 80 (max level as of now).
2. Ability to purchasing living story means you have been given the option to relive them as opposed to completely skip it like in season one.

Mega server problem with lag and Dcing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Frostroses.4196

Frostroses.4196

It has very little to do with the megaserver. If you would have went to any world boss prior to this update during world prime time you would have experienced the same issues.

The issue is your computer is requesting too much information from the servers and your computer and/or internet connection can’t handle it. The easiest way to ‘fix’ this issue is to utilize the graphics options available.

Character Model Limit will limit the amount of characters you see on screen during huge battles. This also alleviates some of the other issues you frequently experience during world boss battles.

I have a really low bandwidth 2Mb/s connection where I live and I get around 15fps at maw with Medium setting. Even on Highest (about 7fps) it still doesn’t max out my net connection. This isn’t lag. It’s your computer’s inability to process that huge amount of things it needs to. Remember GW2 is mostly still CPU bound.

It wouldn’t matter if you were playing gw2 on a super powerhouse quad sli whatever_is_the_best_card_today as long as GW2 is CPU bound it will process all of that stuff on your wonderfully underpowered super_awesome_3000core_beast_processor!

post like this made me sad, how come someone with knowledge of what “quad sli” and “CPU bound” term can’t differentiate lag and fps problem.

The load is okay-ish for my PC during world boss, FPS is stable, BUT sometimes, i have random disconnect/unresponsiveness, when i can’t activate any skill, even if your statement about user-side ISP problem is true, your kind of lag is caused by download rate overloaded by too many action in a time, as opposed to what happen to me(FPS and all okay, people run okay) where i can’t activate skill = upload rate bottlenecked, by too many people at the same instance, which in turn mean this is Anet server problem, not user bandwidth problem, and very unlikely our CPU problem. Take a look back, CPU overload won’t cause random disconnection, it’ll cause FPS drop or completely freeze the game.

Back on your topic, how should one distance themself from PvP when all of a sudden, random players start fighting in front of dolyak you’re escorting (no, they don’t affect you physically with the PvP toggle). Not to mention the dolyak itself will start attacking the player since all NPC is hostile toward them (in response to your fifth system).

Anyway, this should be on suggestion sub forum.

Gw2 most grindy game ever..?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Frostroses.4196

So I have slowly been creating Twilight over the past wee while and now looking at the 1k gold pile that I need to raise to afford Dusk at its current Trade Post price im starting to feel like Gw2 is a grind, I know that the developers said that they wanted to make the game feel like it wasnt a grind but I think some of the recent changes and perhaps lack of change has made it into one of the most grindy games I have ever played. does anybody else think that the whole Idea of needing a precurser or puting so much focus on gold has made Gw2 into a grind? because all I seem to be doing when I play is earning gold by grinding different dungeon paths or doing pvp which is kind of a grind aswell to level… :L perhaps ii play wrong.

Is this the only mmorpg you have ever played? by far, GW2 is the easiest mmorpg i ever played from “grinding-farming” perspective. I level so fast (too fast even), i earn gold so easy (compared to every other mmorpg in general, definitely not what i expected before playing this game). If this game is hard, you’ll probably commit suicide before completely farming to the end on any f2p-p2p mmorpg out there (especially from crappy publisher)
