Bump. The World Summit is still not fixed.
Had to enter and exit the instance multiple times to finally get it.
Other systems: Randomly give players a beta invite
This system: Give players that actually play the game a beta invite
If you can’t see that this system is an improvement you are blind.
And if you’re frustrated that you farmed for 60 hours that’s your own fault, not the system’s.
RNG is probably the most frustrating mechanic in any video game.
Knowing no matter what you do, it might not matter whatsoever.
If you are going to put RNG into the game, the least a developer can do is allow players to reach the same result with another method, even if it takes longer.
Like in the case of fractal skins, why not just make them cost a ridiculous amount of fractal mats?

It’s just a Paragon from GW1.

There is a shout rune. And a companion rune.
I’m really confused. This is not the only thread wherein i’ve seen someone say in essense:
“When you have Trait X on, it makes you want to use Skill A, and thus have no reason to use Skill B, which is boosted by Trait Y”
Traits INTRINSICLY reduce build possibility, because they focus you.
I mean, do people not take ice bow because they have 2 cantrips? No.
Icebow is amazing and you’ll take it regardless of your traits.
would you play a Beta Drop RNG again?

People care too much about a beta.
A bunch of incomplete content that they’re going to get anyway.

It’s just a beta. It’s not a big deal.
You know how a shout warrior uses shouts for their 789 slots? The way things are going now, that’s soon going to be 67890 and you’ll never see one with signet of rage. Same way signet warriors will always use healing signet, and signet guardian will always use signet of resolve. Shout builds are probably only going to use shout elite and heal skills. Same with the other skill types. As of right now you would be crazy to choose skills from three different categories, I’m afraid that soon the game balance will be set that you would be crazy to pick anything but all signets, or all shouts, or all traps.
Some traits are just -20% cooldown
Not a whole lot of motivation to pick some utility slots over others.
Taking the form of animals is not a Druid. That’s just a quality some people give to it.
A Druid simply manipulates nature.
I really relied on that boon duration from traits on some classes.
It was extremely powerful.

Unless you get a game like Wildstar where ALL 40 people have to be competent and skilled. That’s why after 1.5 years only 6 guilds have even beat it. (There was only 1 guild that had a few months ago)
the game isnt out for 1.5 years. its not even out for 1 year.
enigma killed avatus in 40 man 2 days or something before drop 4 (DS 20 man change). and then 1h before my guild (Codex) in DS 20.without the bugs and if DS was 20 man from the beginning it would have taken about 3 months i guess instead of 6. but thats still longer than 9 days BRF clear in WoW.
Oh yeah I got the time completely wrong on that lol
11 months
Wildstar is waaaaaaay harder than WoW

“Raid content” has never meant difficult
The only game I’ve ever played that had any real difficult content was Wildstar
And maybe a little bit of the original Vanilla WoW on release… briefly.Ah yes, that’s why most guilds can’t seem to finish heroic raids, even today. Most guilds struggle to complete raids on normal difficulty, and it can take them weeks of attempts. I have a feeling you haven’t actually played much WoW.
Don’t forget that most people suck at games.
Most of the time, the only thing that stops you from completing a raid in WoW is just a damage race. Nothing to do with real difficulty. The only barrier is uptime and rotation (and half the rotations in the game can just be macro’d to 1 button)
The more people you have put into the raid the more room for error there is (and has to be).
Actual difficult content is 10 players and under. You can be much more harsh.
Unless you get a game like Wildstar where ALL 40 people have to be competent and skilled. That’s why after 1.5 years only 6 guilds have even beat it. (There was only 1 guild that had a few months ago)
In difficult content, things like “berserker” shouldn’t even be a thing. If you can go through the content without even being hit more than once it’s definitely not difficult.
Unless the fight is just 1 shot mechanics so that gear doesn’t even matter.

[Suggestion]Do we even need Elite skills?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Would be better to just make the elite skill flexible. Leave all the others as utility only.
The elite skill would be elite OR utility.
Why would a hammer engi get tricks? There is nothing agile about a hammer.
Even if 1 person gets 500 portals it doesn’t mean you get less of them.

[FEEDBACK] Elem attunement should be baseline

I realise noone is being truly forced to spec their Ele into water/arcane
I guess one could say you aren’t forced in to water arcane, but one could also say you aren’t forced to have any survivability, to deal any damage, to have any response to control or conditions, or to actually use your class mechanic more than once in a blue moon. Because water and arcane were (and from what I see of the absurdly conservative changes that are coming, still will be) the only paths to getting a reasonable amount of any of that, especially survivability.
I was thinking earth looks very strong now.
-20% damage taken
immunity to conditions
5% damage
There’s a lot of good choices

I agree. It would be a huge buff to a really strong class though.
And Arcane traits would feel not that impressive after.
Necromancer needs more death shroud uses. You have this huge other health bar that doesn’t get much uses unless you’re a +50% crit chance power necro.
How about a utility skill that uses life and can also be used in deathshroud?
I want to see what’s planned with greatsword. This class doesn’t need 2 melee weapons.
Increase Axe to 900, dagger to 600, and make GS melee.
Necro doesn’t have a cleave weapon.
GS is needed.
Just increase the evade duration. Or have it strip a boon.
Either of these makes it strong.
They want some kind of auramancer spec but all the auras don’t really do anything effective.
They need more damage or group utility attached to them.
You aren’t entitled to anything.
The amount of people they want to get in will get in.
It is definitely not free, you have to devote all your armor/trinkets/weapons to zerker in order to reach 60% crit chance which will be a much riskier investment considering we won’the be getting the toughness/vitality/healing power from traits that many guardian builds have now.
Then to qualify for the extra 40% crit chance (which I assume is the “free” part you are referring to)
25% is only available vs burning opponents (not generally an issue in PvE or WvW)
15% only applies to mace, scepter, and sword skills. It does not apply to off-hand or two-handed weapons
So yeah if you definition of “free” is building specifically for it then we do get “free” 100% crit chance
Not sure what you’re talking about.
Any item set with precision can get you 100% easy.
Knight’s for instance… gets you over 40%
20% Fury is easy with the new traits.
25% against burning targets
15% with a 1 hand weapon
Free 100% by picking this trait line.
WvW is basically dead anyway
Unless they half the amount of servers so maps actually can be competitive it’s just zerging around against doors.
If it’s the same I won’t even bother.
Guardian is a support class and they’re still letting you get 100% crit chance for free.
Saw 4 links in map chat today.
Ferious Winds - worst trait ever designed?

You’d think that by now ANet would realize these “you get X% more damage if you’re wearing Y” traits are awful, bland and boring. They should at least make the damage boost big and situational or… something. “Your critical chance increases by 25% for Xs after healing an ally” is already better.
Actually the X power from Y toughness ones are insanely efficient on Knight’s gear. Like Warriors and Necros.

Water – Grandmaster trait:
Heals can crit when effecting other players
Opinions?
Cantrips are the only choices that elementalists even have other than LH+IB.
Slot skills need a huge rework.
Necro damage is lower as is
Thief’s damage is designed to be higher against lower health targets
It works just fine.
Cleansing Ire needs to move into Grandmaster Minor trait. Not because Cleansing Ire is a bad trait. But because the other two master major traits will never compete against Cleansing Ire.
Agreed
I wonder what’s the point of tomes then, if you already have the maximum numbers of characters or simply don’t want to create another one.
To level up new characters.
Probably 99.99% of the player base doesn’t have 8 lvl 80 characters.
Should give each race something cool/special they can do that doesn’t actually make them stronger combat wise.
I would like to know your time played.

Conditions don’t apply and take effect fast enough.
Tanks don’t do enough damage for fast runs.
PvE is always going to be berserker.
Stack in a corner and mash buttons. Rally any time you get downed.
Nothing will change.
It’s a system that works perfectly until they specifically try to stop it.
Equipment with boon duration stats incoming?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: FrozenChinchilla.5249
Boon duration is powerful in traits but it’s not worth more than a real stat on your gear.
I cant imagine ANY Warriors out there ever wanted, or cared about Thick Skin.
I’m thinking it seriously is THE most useless minor trait in the game. It’s certainly the most unloved in in the Warrior class, at the very least.
I was really hoping they’d delete it and replace it with something else during this revamp.
I also dont see why they nerfed armored attack from 10% to 7% either. Assuming you have a toughness of 1800 or so from soldiers gear, which is fairly high, thats +180 power at 10%, or 126 power at 7%. Blech, 126 power for yourself only? Empower Allies is =150 power for EVERYONE, 150×5=750 power total. Armored attack in its current form and location is not a choice, it’ll never get picked.
Solution
Move Dogged March into Thick Skins minor spot, since its basically mandatory; only a niche few block-spam builds will take shield master, and no one will touch the nerfed Armored attack trait.Next unnerf Armored Attack to 10% toughness > power conversion
Finally, a 3rd new adept trait, to fill the gap, something like…
“Unbreakable Armor: Whenever you are inflicted with vulnerability, you instead gain Protection for 3s. Cooldown 30s”
They nerfed armored attack because it’s not berserker.
Only time rifle is used is ranged damage against a boss.
Pretty sure single target ranged is all it was meant to be.
Maybe make brutal shot do double damage against already vulnerable foes.
And then make kill shot do triple damage against downed foes.
Powerful Synergy: Not sure what double triggering a leap would accomplish (they are generally weak and selfish, the tactics line is about group support). I would change this to leap finishers also trigger a blast. I have no idea why you would take this over Phalanx’s strength in its current state.
Leaps can have some powerful effects. I honestly don’t think we need more blast finishers (lol the game is almost soley about blast finishers…they should probably fix that) but perhaps add to it “reduce cooldown of leap finisher skills by 33% when a combo occurs” or something. Also not sure if it should be a GM trait.
It’s simply just weaker than the other 2 traits by a lot.
Nobody intelligent will ever choose it unless they don’t use might at all AND don’ t use shouts.
Warrior trait "Adrenal Health" makes no sense
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: FrozenChinchilla.5249
Would it work better as a heal based on bars spent?
Yes. I would even take it as a grandmaster for balance and move “rousing resilience” to minor traits.
That way you decide between endure pain and healing.
For most of the classes you’re forced into specific trait lines just because you hold a type of weapon.
I wish all weapon traits were baseline.
That actually makes no sense to me phys. It is about the entire system as proposed. If you think that Axe Mastery synergizes well with other choices in other lines you might well take it even if you think its slightly inferior to Berserker Strength. Dual Wielding, Leg Specialist and Burst Mastery come to mind but it might synergize well with other one hand weapon skills like Blade Master, Sundering Mace.
Also not 100% certain I agree with your assertion that Axe Mastery is inherently the lesser trait. If you can burst and miss the target and still get the damage boost then yes/maybe assuming you can burst every 10 seconds or so. If it only procs on successfully using the Burst then its absolutely not. One attack every so often that can miss, be blocked, dodged, etc. (an you lose the 10 second damage boost) verses a continuous passive boost to axe cool downs, crit damage (general btw from what I can tell – so axe main or offhand give the ferocity with all attacks regardless of main or off hand) plus extra adrenaline and therefore more burst attacks plus potentially lots of fury up-time (through axe #4 if its your off hand). Combine Axe Mastery + Burst Mastery and you have strong regular attacks with a high crit chance and lots of burst (1-2-3-burst-1-2-3-burst and repeat
.
If the issue is its having to make a choice, well I would say: Tough, join the club, choice is likely going to be something for every player and every class.
I agree. The choice shouldn’t be easy. Picking something should feel like sacrificing the option of something else. I, however, feel it’s rather unfair compared to Forceful Greatsword. I mean, what kind of rage would occur if Forceful GS and Axe Mastery were swapped?
If anything, I think either Forceful GS should become a Grandmaster trait or Axe Mastery should become a Master trait. You can keep them exclusive from Berserker’s Power if you want but there’s no reason you should be able to have one pair and not the other.
I agree. GS should become Grandmaster or Axe should become Master.
It’s the only way to make things fair.
As it stands right now, Berserker is simply a straight upgrade over Axe Mastery.
Doesn’t make sense design wise either.
It’s just making GS warrior even stronger than the other builds PvE and make Axe Warriors feel awful about their trait choices.

Warrior trait "Adrenal Health" makes no sense
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: FrozenChinchilla.5249
The trait is very powerfull as is. Combined with HS you’ll survive double the DOT compared to HS alone…. as long as you can keep your stacks of adrenaline up, if they are gone, you start dying…
Yes but they are encouraging people to use their burst skills.
They changed every trait to support that except this one.
You just don’t get to use your burst skill anymore if you want sustain. That’s silly.
