IMO there are three main solutions to the arrowcart “problem”. Placing them on certain textures is an… odd… way of handling it.

1) Reduce damage by about 50% and be done with it. Alternativly, double the recharge on skills to reduce its dps rather than damage.

2) Change the arrowcart to fire like a catapult/treb – aim with 1/3, charge arc fire with 2, change type of arrows with 4.

3) Remove them as placeable siege and add them to T3 fortifications (fixed positions on the walls, just like cannons).

While all of these are viable (some maybe a bit extreme, but the point is there) they are all way too drastic of a change for Anet to make. From experience they ONLY make minor changes. So hell, maybe a tooltip change on the AC saying that it shouldn’t be mass used will help!

So they got at least 600 supplies worth of siege inside the tower and you expect to take it with some ranged attacks and a couple of rams?

No, but I would expect to actually have players be involved in the defense of it. You should have to actually FIGHT someone to defend the tower, instead of just hiding behind a wall of arrow cart fire.

They build 2 counter trebs inside, and proceed to destroy your trebs because theirs are placed in a tight corner that is very difficult to hit.

The point still stands, AC’s as they are currently can be manipulated into ways they were never meant to originally, and it leads to imbalance.

So, according to Devon Carter, the leader of the development team for WvW, as of June 5th, 2013 he said:

“We are going to take a much closer look at all of the siege in the game to bring it in line with where we want it to be. Arrow carts should be deadly for players who get caught beneath their hail of arrows, but there should be a viable way to counter them with other siege — we don’t think that “MOAR arrow carts!” should be the answer to every situation. WvW is a mix of players fighting other players and players fighting against the various weapons of war, so we’ll be introducing balance changes that will give you a reason to use every piece of siege at the proper time.”

This has become even more of a problem lately, with some servers ahve 10+ AC’s inside of one tower, absolutely destroying the ability to siege a tower with anything short of 60 players.

My suggestion: Fix arrow cart placement.

This should be a simple fix that would have fairly drastic results. As it stands now, commanders and players have found every cheeky spot, every buggy wall, every single spot that you can place an arrow cart to make it as difficult for an enemy to hit as possible.

Everyone who has played WvW for more than 30 minutes has experienced situations like this:

My suggestion is to fix arrow carts so they MUST be placed completely on a wall, or texture like this:

Currently, it takes half a second to stand below a wall and throw an arrow cart up above at it where it can only be hit by 1 or 2 skills, while still raining death on everyone down below. This “fixed” placement would make it actually able to be destroyed by players on the outside. Yes, this would prevent 5 people from being able to defend a structure from 30 people, but how realistic is it for them to be able to do that anyways?

It would require actual players to be there to defend AS WELL as the siege being placed. The siege is supposed to ->Supplement<- the army, not be the army.

If anyone has anything suggestions to improve this etc let me know. I just really feel something needs to be changed about the way it is.

I’m going to laugh when , yes WHEN, the all the changes that people have been QQing about finally get released. The devs have stated multiple times that they have something in the works, but its not ready to go live yet. So unless they are straight up lying, which they have 0 reason to do so and in doing so would probably cost them their jobs, something IS coming. Its just not ready for launch.

I hate to be a downer, but if they had so many great things in the works, what reason do they possibly have for not telling anybody anything about them?

Oh that’s great, they are working on things. I’ve heard that line for almost 2 years now, so what have they been working on? What have they done? There’s almost zero information given from the staff about WvW. There is no contact between staff and players, other than them asking for our videos to help promote the dying WvW population, I haven’t seen but 2 Dev posts in the WvW section of the forums this week. That is abysmally low.

I can hire 5 people to constantly tell everyone that stuff will eventually happen, but that doesn’t mean anything will ever happen.

Support roles get tons of loot, no idea what this nonsense is about. The first player to hit 250,000 WvW kills played a STAFF GUARDIAN.

There’s some myth about high dps getting more loot. It’s not true. There are plenty of myths about droprates, humans like to see patterns in randomness, it’s how our brains are built, pattern recognition machines.

DPS means “damage per second”. Are you saying support roles cause NO damage? If you are ONLY using heal/boon skills you are playing wrong, and not fully supporting your team.

If you’re switching characters 8 times a day and switching their builds several times each, you are working unnecessarily hard. That is entirely your choice, but no one said you have to play this game 12 hours a day and that you must win every possible engagement.

Yeah. I don’t know where it comes to you to think that a staff guardian is a support character. That is an AoE skill. If they are using that skill, then they are not using healing skills, thus not support.

You are totally missing the point. The roles that use healing/buff skills INSTEAD of these DPS builds, get no loot. Yes, we all know that every class →CAN<- get loot. It’s the fact of the matter that if they are going to go healing specced, to support the team then they will not be doing that, which puts down the support roles.

Yeah. The problem with your logic, is that you think most people do WvW to get loot/items. We play WvW because it is fun, and actually challenging as compared to PvE.

We don’t need better loot. You get money for WvW ranks now, so that goes easily to cover the cost of the badge-armor.

I get ~20s per WvW rank, currently rank 80. In that time I have gotten ~2000 badges.

This is in 2-3 weeks.

This is 16g just from the level chests. And plenty of badges to buy at least 2-3 sets of armor. There is no need for increased loot, sorry man. If you’re doing WvW to get craftign materials, then you are in the wrong place. I’m not sure what type of “loot” you are missing, but we don’t need it since most of the people are PVP players anyways… Cosmetic looks come from dungeons, everything else can be got through straight WvW, and Karma in orr (which you get a lot of karma for capturing towers etc).

By the way, why is it that the only keep you can treb from SM belongs to the last place team? Seems to me that someone should of thought of that at some point, and edited the distance between the two. One of these days I’m gonna stop trying to apply logic to video games :/

Even better a lava moat with the only path across being a jumping puzzle being the only way across. The jumping puzzle changes positions constantly. You can not mesmer portal across.

I could care less for flying pirates if they added a new map to WvW. The number of people I have seen LEAVING PvP, to go for the new PvE content is enough to warrant the idea that more people would go TO PvP if a new map or content was released. Sadly, the only real change for PvP would be a total rework. New map, etc. Anything less than that would be too small of a change to make a real impact. And surely, Anet would not advertise it or make global announcements every time you login about WvW

I would absolutely love if we just removed the entire PvP aspect, and just had a ton of champion bosses to fight. That would make WvW much better. No more PvDoor, there is actual resistance. And no more skill lag, as we could just separate EB into 3 separate servers which each group could fight separately! I mean, that would solve the lag problem, and the PvP issue. Nobody wants that anyways.

I just love how there are threads like this, actually stating serious issues with the game. Then I look at the other list of bug reports, and I see the dev responses. One about ranger armor skins, and another about the PvE experience for an event. That is just funny. This has been a problem for longer than the dragonbash has been in development probably, and they still have not even acknowledged that it is a problem. PvP really means nothing to Anet, based on the number of fixes and problems with it.

There are currently 4 invisible, invulnerable dolyaks outside the SE gate of stonemist. These dolyaks are not resetting when the camps flip, and are preventing the outer towers, as well as stonemist itself from being upgraded.

This needs to be fixed ASAP, blackgate has had tier 1 towers for the past 2 hours because no supply is moving.

+1 saelune – the out-manned buff is fine as it is, we don’t really need a debuff for zerging, however we do need a few more tactical elements in every class to make zerg busting viable.

For example the following classes can use the following skills to really help / break zergs up:

Ele – tornado, denial AoE
Mesmer – temporal curtain, feedback, null field
Ranger – traps
Necro – wells, plauge form
Guardian – line of warding, ring of warding, sancturary
Thief – caltrops, daggerstorm
Engineer – Elixer X (50% chance)
Warrior – combustive shot

Only problem with this is that these skills hit 5 people. And if you are outnumbered 5-1.. Well.. Yeah you’re going to get facerolled either way.

The cap on AoE’s really prevents small groups from even damaging large groups, since they can just spread the damage out evenly and not have the slightest problem with it.

Free transfers for under tier 4 servers

I would think it should be free to transfer to any server that is under tier 4. This would help with some of the population re-balancing in theory.

There would have to be some limit set to it, but all in all it ought to be available. Otherwise these servers that are constantly behind in WvW have a chance to catch up.

Of course there are a few drawbacks, but when are there not.

I hate the downstate in general, but what really bothers me is the amount of damage that people can do while downed with the free defense. You down a thief, and suddenly he is 10x as hard to kill but is still chunking you for huge amounts of damage. It’s ridiculous. If downstate has to exist, fine, but give them like 50% of their actual hp pool and no extra defense.

Just as an example of how powerful downed state is, when I’m solo and I’m fighting greater numbers, I don’t prioritize based on logical things like threat level, defense, etc. I prioritize my targets based on who has the worst downed state, because smart targeting is dumb play if their downed state will keep you from stomping.

Well, I mean that would be the point where you press the “F” key instead of just auto-attacking him.. Hm.

I, for one, would not like to see WvW become more number oriented. If you can’t match their numbers, kill them with superior firepower…

I do believe that if this is going to be true, then siege prices need to be increased a little bit.

I mean as it is now, I get 5 kills and I can buy an arrow cart. (more or less)
It is a bit cheap seeing as they do so much damage, and there are ways you can place them so the enemy cannot hurt them.

Really? Did CoF path 1 last night and its still one of the easiest paths in the game, a full clear (no skipping) took about 15 minutes.

I will go through it again and fraps it this time. If it happens again I will have a video of it.

As I said, I had never seen it before either. We just practically couldn’t hurt him. It was weird.

Has anyone else done Path 1 to HoTW?
Nothing was even wrong with this path…

The only things we did in HoTW is close off map exploit possibilities in this recent patch. We didn’t touch any of the bosses to my knowledge.

CoF path 1 is now impossible to complete. First off the stupid boss has 9,000,000,000 health to begin with. Took 20 minutes flat out to kill him.

We didn’t touch that boss in the last patch, and I beat him with a PuG this morning. It is not impossible. It can certainly take lots of time if you don’t kill the crystals he summons though.

The problem was the crystals were spawning at a rate 5x faster than I have ever seen before. And I do this dungeon daily. We couldn’t get his health below 95% before he fully healed back…

CoF broken with last nights patch

I completed CoF after the patch without any problems (I run CoF daily and noticed no changes from previous runs). The crystals have always given him stacks of regeneration. Was there healing on top of that?

My group was trying to fight him just 30 minutes ago. We could not damage him below 95% before he fully regen’d.

We do the run daily and this is the first time we have ever encountered anything like this.

Path 1 of CoF is impossible to kill the final boss.

The patch last night added that the crystals now heal him. Yeah, that is fine and i understand why it is needed.

However, the crystals spawn at a rate of about 5/15 seconds. And the boss has over 9,000,000,000 health already. It took 20 minutes to kill him BEFORE he healed, now it is impossible to even out-damage the healing.

Do the dev’s actually PLAY through their patches before they release them?

There are too many crystals to be able to kill them all before the next wave spawns, and the boss has too much health to actually damage him in any sort of fashion.

Seriously, do you guys actually test your patches before you release them? Because I would love to see a video of ANY dev actually playing through this dungeon.

It’s not a bug. It is their spawn. It prevents you from spawncamping them like you are doing in that screenshot.

Maybe, if you move away from their spawn, they won’t be invicible?

1. If someone is cheating like that means there must be some kind bug to exploit it. So i posted here to see that or for other to pay more attention to this.
2. There isnt any option to report “cheater”.
3. Frvwfr can you grow some mature level or just say you are kid so i can tolerate it.

1: Hacks are exploits.. It’s in the definition. And I am sure this post means absolutely nothing to them as they have no proof, logs, or anything of it.
2: Every “cheater” is running some sort of bot to assist them. Therefore; botting would be the option you report for.
3: How was my post immature? I stated the direct truth, no bs about it. What I said was exactly correct. This post is useless and waste of forum space.

EB Puzzle and how to make it fun

Chores are usually forced to be done. There is nothing requiring you to do the JP.

Here is the thing. Thanks to the prices of WvW rewards, it do feel forced. Those things cost 200+ badges. Combine this with the poor drop rate of badges in combat, the JP is almost a required to get badges efficiently. I can go do all the puzzles and get around 28 badges in about an hour a day, or i could go play for 3 hours and get the same amount of badges if I’m lucky.

Urm.. I get about 100 badges/day running around with my guild in WvW. Never had a problem with drop rates. Now yes, that is with my guild. But if you follow a commander around you usually have better chances.

I often see content designers on the forums speaking with gamers to understand what bugs they are seeing. This is aside from whatever internal list of things they have been assigned to fix.

This is called strategy, not an exploit. It is one of only 3 ways to attack a tower. Learn to counter-treb or stop complaining..

It’s how you are supposed to play. You aren’t supposed to be able to just sit there and wait for a massive group to attack the tower… You build your OWN trebuchet and attack theirs with it.

Well, that’s just great. When is that patch?

Nobody ever seems to actually tell a date of when patches will be released. Can someone please have just a note at least, or somewhere that dynamically updates to tell the players when the next patch will be out so they can know how long they have to wait?

Having to wait in itself is bad. It is worse when you do not know how long you have to wait.

You seriously spawn and kill 3 enemies, then there are 15 groups of 3 elite (silver star) enemies that come at you almost simultaneously.. How are you supposed to defeat that?
