Self inflicted condi's in condi heavy game

in Necromancer

Funky.4861

I did say ‘across builds’ meaning not just condi, but you should not blindly stick to the same utils and 2nd weaps. I typically use sceptre/dagger and gs, with blood is power, suffer, epidemic and plaguelands with staff as an option depending on situation. That’s 4-7 condi transfers on a 20-sec cd or shorter. Don’t forget that u take 50% less condi damage in shroud too.

The other thing to bear in mind is that several of the corruption utils self-inflict the same condition, so if you time ur transfers you won’t be re-applying a condi you just got rid of.

Wouldn’t say ‘no’ to that 1sec resistance (which revs got on mallyx skills, but w/e ^^).

That’s kind-of the point of using master of corruption- you’re harming yourself a little to do more damage via reduced cooldowns on corruption skills.
We have lots of ways to use those additional condi’s either by transferring them to enemies-

removing them

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shrouded_Removal
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Grim_Specter

or converting them to boons (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Well_of_Power).

This is all without looking at armour runes and weapon sigils. At first i thought in a similar manner to yourself, then i realised the array of transfers we have across builds makes it work to our advantage. The only problem i occasionally run into is not having an enemy to transfer the condi to, but that’s what lifeforce is for

Cooking: the next step

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Funky.4861

I also believe we should make the jump to 500 cooking. Food and utility buffs are a great way to complete a build which is just missing that ‘something’. Food buffs are also much more versatile and easy to use than stat-juggling/gear-changing etc.

The possibilities for ingredient-combining are also much greater than with any other craft- we could use those millions of +1 fractal infusions to create various stat-boosting recipes (which could be for fracs only or be more general with a boost inside fracs). I think 4-stat food is a great idea too; how it’s implemented is ofc up to anet as i’m not sure how the core-game-only accts would get HoT items…

Although we already have the food primer from the gemstore, having more hour-long food items would be welcome.

However, I’m strongly against making the journey to get from 400-500 as arduous as the OP. Levelling cooking (for me) was a horrible experience because it was not intuitive or as common-sense based as the other crafts. Although i used guides to minimise my costs for the other crafts, for cooking i had to use a guide to actually tell me what to make next in order to level it up because there are no hints or unlocks to indicate how to make progress (i hated having to make 25/50/100 of the same item just to move the progress bar).

It would also be nice to have a drop-down menu to filter what to make by stat, whether we have the recipe unlocked or not. At the moment, i use wiki’s food-by-stat tables because the only other way is to hover your cursor over the food item to see what it does.

But yeah, go for 500!

Dragonhunter with lb and sceptre/focus would work, same with necro staff_sceptre/dagger (condi build, obvs) and mes with gs/staff. Rev hammer isn’t too bad i find, tho slow aa is frustrating (shiro-impossible odds helps a bit) and there’s lb/rifle warr, tho i have no real experience of playing that at 80 as mine is a lowbie still^^. I’ve never played ele so i can’t comment. Good luck

Do we know how much of a nerf to dungeon gold is happening? They are pretty unrewarding as they stand, so unless u need the title no-one will run them as it’s easier to get tokens and skins from the pvp reward track.

The pistol itself is nice (if far too big) but those horrible footprints put me right off. Slightly tempted by the axe, but idk what it’s footprints are, same with the staff (which at least is suited to a wider variety of professions than the bifrost).

I have 307 on my ranger alt- newest char, tomed from abt lvl 30 before the last trait patch hit. He has abt 20% map completion but all traits and skills unlocked. Guess my first elite char will be a druid, which is a shame as i was stoked for my necro but he only has 170 hp.

Aggro system in GW2 need to be overworked ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Funky.4861

Funky.4861

Proximity to target, toughness (not just armour value) and ressing are all high-priority aggro magnets. For example, Mai Trin will always aggro anyone who tries to res a downed player, no matter what the other members of the party do- she will make that player stop ressing by killing them.

The mordrem teragriffs have a wide hitbox- it extends a little past the sides of their claws when they charge and it’s very easy to be downed by them.

I like that the aggro mechanics in this game are obscure; it takes away from the trinity style of playing.

Firstly; over-analysing a thing is not a problem.

Secondly; if the facts that i perceive are not truth, then what are they?

Thirdly; i’m reasonably sure that the ‘more strong female characters’ was intentionally done by anet, as gw2 has been that way since the start. It seems i need to re-iterate: i do not mind that there are strong likeable female characters, i do mind that there is a lack of strong likeable male characters to balance them.

The rest of your points, while valid, largely fall under the marketing category. This game was marketed primarily at a north american audience, so anet had to choose which demographics to promote in the game to appeal to that audience.

It’s a simple english fail on the writers’ part. They gave in to marketing who like to promote cool-sounding things whether they are correct or not. I see it all the time, and in this case it’s a legitimate complaint especially because it implies the writer doesn’t know the difference and is therefore stupid (which is unlikely to be the case).

I see we have a new narrative director- great! Welcome to the team Leah

There is one issue i would love for you to address, when you have a slot for it. Time and time again we are subjected to pretty obvious misandry in LS episodes, the latest being the pathetic ‘master’ of wind. Can you please kill the misandrist writing in future LS episodes and ensure we have a more balanced view of genders and their interactions?

I’m getting the whole current feminist movement thing but really, i’m overexposed to that enough as it is without having to deal with it in my hobby as well.

As an egalitarian it’s really offensive to see male characters being consistently put-down and cuckolded in LS as well as generally in the game dialogues- i’m asking for realistic, strong male characters to balance out the profusion of realistic, strong female characters.

Thank you

For tot bag tagging just use a staff, well of suffering and epidemic along with a potion of halloween slaying. For running between doors i use a sceptre because of its’ range and attack speed (auto attack only).

I swap well of suffering out for well of corruption for the lich (as i want to convert the retal) and use sceptre/focus again for attack speed, frequent condi applications and the boon-strip from focus. My build is 6-6-0-0-2.

In the UK we don’t have Target, and (as i don’t really buy pc/console games anymore) i’m unaware if any of our retail outlets sell cards for gems. This change is a quintessential “WTF?” moment for me as it brings nothing positive. Go back to the old system, there was nothing wrong with it. If the devs are adamant the new system remains, keep it as an add-on to the old one.

Funky.4861

I’m usually on the world boss train when i have time; something to kill every 15 mins gives u time to get there and time to clear inventory after the event before u go to the next one. I also to teq and wurm runs with gw2community and craft my piquant plant food to sell for 2gold+ every day, which means gathering in malchor’s leap. Whilst i’m there, i grab 3 open world chests and do dwayna or lyssa if they are up, plus grabbing ori and anc wood nodes and some omnoms and orrian truffles. If i want to burn myself out i’ll head to a t5/t6 dry top map (with gw2community) for a couple of hours.

There is LOADS to do- u’ll notice i haven’t mentioned dungeons or fracs yet because really, i like to do my own thing and not be too reliant on other people.

events on timers - good or bad?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Funky.4861

Funky.4861

This won’t end well…

Really though, this is a bad idea and i have an example right now: Dry Top. The only reason people are on that map is to get the ridiculous amount of geodes needed to make the ambrite weapons, the few quartz/ori/ancient sapling (that always makes me laugh) nodes and some cacti. The other rewards are pretty niche (monkey king tonic, really?) and the amount of running around doing events to get to t5/t6 burns you out after a couple of hours.

Elitists who are impatient tend to have a perfectionist effect on those around them (and the game in general). We have them to thank for the ascended gear grind and lack of build diversity in pve; it’s play their way or you are inferior.

OT: We don’t need more methods of discriminating against casual players in a casual game.

GW2 pve is a co-operative environment. Any form of dps meter is divisive, as evidenced in this thread. Damage types

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Funky.4861

Funky.4861

This would screw over every class that isn’t an ele.

One way to implement it could be adding an aura mechanic to all classes which changed the damage type of all of their skills for a certain period of time (i’m thinking in minutes here, not just a crappy few seconds).

How to get the aura is up for discussion; i’m a little against it being via a consumable, because you’ll need inv space for each damage type.

Though this is something else which will need to be kept out of starter zones…

@ those above: they just had to implement the patch at a different time. Stop putting words in my mouth. If anet had patched up an hour or two before teq all drama would have been avoided. They screwed-up the timing to make hundreds of (if not a thousand or so) players miss a major event when it could all have been avoided with a little forethought.

Anyway, it’s all done and dusted now; getting back to my time-gated crafting, time and level-gated new char levelling and AR-gated fractals…

I would like all of the downed skills to be available when the downed state is unlocked. Though if, WAI or not, you can rally solely by doing damage (which is both new and inaccurate of the rest of the game) perhaps that is a justification for the later downed-state unlocks.

Le sigh. Do i have to spell it out for you guys? Are you the people the NPE was designed for? It’s a major event which hundreds of people prepare for and organise (through several languages) that is on a timer set by anet. Is it really to much to ask anet to respect their own major event timers? If the servers had remained up (as usual during a patch) there would likely have been no problems but no, servers down; daily chance at teq weapon skins gone. Not sure if i can make it any simpler to understand.

@tobias- we got the 10-minute notification 20 mins before teq was due to spawn. We thought “Fine, we’ll do teq and then log to patch up.” but no, cos the servers went down. Teq spawns 3 times a day, but really it’s only once a day if u have a job; same with triple trouble and karka queen. They set the timers in the first place, and they decided to screw us out of our daily teq run with the timing of the patch. I wouldn’t have minded as much if it was a minor boss (or even karka which has crappy loot) but it wasn’t. And what ‘broken stuff’ do you refer to? The trait system? ^^
