Only a few new Legendaries on HoT day One?

I’m noticing a trend amongst Arenanet about all this HoT hype and it is worrying me.

When specializations were first announced they confirmed that more specializations will be added after the initial release of HoT, that’s great news, it will increase character customization down the line and generally increase the longevity of the game.

However, with the recent announcement by anet regarding legendaries I am worried by the fact that only a handful of legendaries will be available at launch and the remaining will be released during subsequent updates.

This is truly worrisome, who knows, the next blog post topic might be about guild halls and they might even repeat what they recently said for legendaries “At the launch of GW2 HoT, there will be a handful of guild hall types available, but with subsequent updates after the initial launch the remaining guild halls will be added to the game via patches.”

If they continue to do this then essentially we will be purchasing a portion of the expansion? But people will argue that all the remaining features will be added with subsequent updates after launch. Yes, that’s true, but these were promised with the expansion, any live updates after the release of HoT is essentially not part of the expansion.

How will this work for people who have not purchased the expansion, why must they download patches with content that was promised at launch of HoT which they cannot even access?

I’m just a bit confused by Arenanet, they knew that not all legendaries will be finalized before release, they clearly acknowledged that in the blogpost, then why even bother. I’d rather let them postpone the release of the expansion and make sure everything is ready rather than them saying “shall be released after initial launch via subsequent updates.”

What are they doing? What have they been doing for the past year or so? I feel as if a lot of the HoT blogposts in the upcoming future will be like “not all of this content will be available at launch but don’t worry, the remaining aspects of it shall be added to the game via subsequent live updates.”

What? What the kitten? I mean what?

P.S I’m not saying that this will happen but the concern is valid and I just hope that anet do not pull this card for any future announcements regrading the features of this expansion.

only 80 maps?

It’s going to be odd for the Revenants, which is new expansion content, so to be leveling outside their expansion. That’s not something that’s normally done in games.

It also sounds very off putting. People buy the new expansion to play there on their new character, not to appear in the old content, having to get to level 80 before they can access it. And yes I know some can pop level scrolls and get to 80 in seconds, that’s not the point. Others are going to have to go through the whole leveling process by playing. If they have to wait till however long that takes them then they are not going to be happy.

A few possibilities.

One, there is one leveling map your char appears in. If it has 3 biomes, the bottom can be low level, the middle, middle level and the top, higher level. When you get to 80, you can leave. If they give extra exp, it can be quick. It will still be a problem as the Revenants will be leveling while others are playing the game and doing the story line, which will mean that many will put off leveling the Revenant till later, after they have played a while.

Second, you take a level 80 to there and and he speaks to Rytlock and becomes a Revenant. (Less likely as it may require a guard/warrior because of armor issues and because it means losing your previous profession).

3rd possibility: you get a new char. You chose the Revenant profession and you are level 80 at start. (Obvious learn to play problems here).

Of the 3, my guess is on a dedicated tutorial map with a fast push to level 80 mechanics.

Don’t forget that Revenants will appear in the old starting zones like everyone else, they won’t appear in the expansion area. Norn Revenants will begin with the Norn Tutorial as normal and then be in Wayfarer Foothills. Human Revenants will start in Queensdale etc, I don’t see any reason for them to create tutorial maps specific for Revenants.

Also, they said they are adding Mastery points all over the game, not just the expansion areas, which means there is loads to do in the old zones too.

Citation please where it said that the Revenants will appear in the old starting content.

No citation required. Why would any newly created Revenant start anywhere other than their respective starter zone. For instance if you make a human you’re going to start with the instance ‘Defense of Shaemoor’ and proceed into the Queensdale map.

It would only make sense for new starter zone to be implemented if there was a new race being added (thankfully there is none). Why would there be a new starter/tutorial zone just for a new class?

Stop requesting citations, all it requires is a bit of logic and basic deduction skills.

Yes, a week into the Wintersday event this skill lag/long delay came out of the blue, weeks prior to that day I played with no skill lag and I could do world bosses and zerg in wvw and experience no issues, but this lag came out of nowhere and the game was unplayable regardless of me being in (PvE, PvP or WvW. Overflow/empty zone)

I could not play the game, the only time the game was actually playable was past 1AM. 5 weeks have passed and the problem persists, however last Thursday the skill lag was reduced significantly but I would get lag spikes of 2-3s, however I still get delays of 20s+ when large groups of players are nearby.

It’s really upsetting because I just want to play the game and have fun. In addition I would also like to mention that there is no conceivable reason that it could be a problem originating from my side, my pc and internet were able to meet the requirements for GW2, I was able to run the game perfectly before this issue arose.

I’m positive that this problem persists for many people, and I urge arenanet to delve into the problem to find a solution instead of creating more problems every two weeks.

Thank you Arenanet, I notice the improvements. The horrible unplayable lag just disappeared sometime last week and I have returned to playing normally prior to the whole issue that arose early Wintersday ; however it took you far too long to repair this issue (approximately +-9 weeks. Some people have probably been experiencing this for longer) which is unacceptable.
But I’m pleased with the results.

I have also been experiencing skill lag and rubber banding, this basically makes any wvw and pvp impossible. When the April feature pack went live my gaming experience was perfect.

I did not experience any issues whatsoever, be it in a huge mega server blob doing a world boss, spvp, dungeons and wvw. I was really having a great time. But I noticed a delay last week Wednesday.

Having 0.5-1s of skill lag and rubber banding irrespective if you are in an empty map or a populated map, It is everywhere. This kills the game for me. I thought things were finally sorted out, but I was wrong.

I have been having issues with lag since the day Wintersday was released (10th Dec). Sometimes the lag is unbearable and sometimes the lag is gone which really confuses me, but this is unacceptable, I want my gaming experience to be as fluid as it once was I’m tired of having all these issues. Please fix this.

For the past few days I have been experiencing horrible lag. The nature of this lag is that I would receive lag spikes that usually occur for 3 minutes or longer, be it in LA (under Attack!) a simple dungeon or any part of the game.

When this lag spike happens my character’s skills begin flashing, nearby player characters walk in predetermined directions into walls/obstructions, nearby npcs don’t move nor can I move my character.

After the lag spike subsides it seems as if my computer screen is trying to “catch up” with the game, after it has “caught up” I can resume playing but I have a delay (skill lag/chat lag) of up to 10s or more making playability impossible.

Furthermore I would like to mention that prior the lag spike I am playing perfectly (no skill lag or anything)

Sometimes I would exit the game and restart the client, attempting to log in I would receive multiple errors or if I manage to get into the character select screen, select a character and end up with an infinite loading screen.

When this happens I just give up with the game and try to play the following day.

I’m very disappointed with this and I hope that it is resolved soon.

Guild Wars 1 lore > Guild Wars 2 lore By far. I’m tired of Asura they really bore me to death, with their better-than-everyone ego and their smart mouths. NO MORE. Seriously the fall of a GOD and the creation of a desert is far more significant than an Asuran ka-boom. Please Arenanet just take a look at the the original series for inspiration, without it this game would be non existent.

I am quite disappointed that the primary antagonists of the game are Elder Dragons, sure they are powerful and corrupt/destroy everything and amass to epic proportions (yeah spam skill one!), but the idea is quite generic and personally I find it quite uninteresting, and what even saddens me even more is that I read on Guild Wars 2 wiki and I quote "Dragons were not always the main antagonists of Guild Wars 2. According to The Making of Guild Wars 2 book, original drafts for story included demons and angelic beings descending to the world to judge it. " Oh my god that sounds simply superb its a pity that this idea was replaced by the “ED concept”, but perhaps they will come to their senses and introduce this marvelous idea into an expansion, because to be honest if we remain in continental Tyria and zerg dragons I will quite this game. Guild wars was know for its diversity, and its expansions truely reflected that – having expansions based on real world locations was rather eccentric and strayed from the generic path of most other RPG’s. But only time will tell.

50 vs 50? You’re drunk, go home, however I agree on the implementation of GvG it should just be exactly the same as it was in the original series (it was two groups of 8 against each other), let’s be honest this game really needs to re-accquaint itself with its predecessor. No body wants Zerg vs Zerg we already got that, called wvw. Also with this arena net can implement guild halls to coincide with GvG. If this really happened I’d be really happy.

Doesn’t that defeat the whole lore of the event.. I thought we got rid of the buggers

Well think about the risen, we supposedly killed Zhaitan, and one of the final videos of your personal story tells you that in lore the risen have been killed off but you can still find them in-game, this also applies to the Karka, we raided their colony and killed the ancient karka in lore, but we still find them in-game. Also it would be illogical for anet to release this whole content patch and get rid of the karka after the event.

I think they will/should add more events and increase the drops rates after the weekend event. It’s a nice concept with a beautiful zone that’s colourful and fresh, however as many of you mentioned it lacks a certain “ingredient”. If they could pump up this zone (increased drop rates, more events and even some skill points and some vistas) to give it some zest it could be an amazing zone for low level characters to look forward to and an alternative for level 80’s, which I really hope they do so we have an option to play in this new zone, or dark, depressing, decomposing Orr.

If Jormag is next I think the next class will be Shaman and it will be designed similar to how the ritualist was in GW1.

Shaman are already in guild wars lore. Many a Charr were shaman. And shaman fit in with both Norn and Kodan societies.

Yeah… they should just call it a Ritualist it sounds better than shaman. Elementalist-sorcerer. Sorcerer-elementalist.

The game doesn’t need a new class. It really needs more skills and traits added to the existing ones. Quite a few, actually. Have a couple expansions of that before you start worrying about making a new profession.

If they add more skills and traits it would just result in an imbalance for the devs. They even made a statement regarding skills “Quality rather than quantity”

Does anyone hope they actually keep the nickname Bubbles for the dragon?

He’ll probably have some epic, dangerous name when they finally reveal the Deep Sea Dragon, but would an NPC taunting him with the name “bubbles” be so much to ask for?

The final boss in CoE uses the skills “Teeth of Primordus”, “Tooth of Jormag”, and “Teeth of Mordremoth” this perhaps suggests that Bubbles real name is Mordremoth or perhaps a 6th dragon…

I think a Ritualist needs to make a come-back in future expansions (Cantha more specifically), however many people think that the Dervish profession might return, the problem with the dervish profession is that it is heavily affiliated with the human gods, which will seem rather odd on a race that does not believe in the 6 gods. Also seriously, a charr with a scythe what a joke. Regardless i’m happy with any innovative ideas for a profession anet comes up with

Humans: A dying race?

in Human

Posted by: Genoss Hazard.7528

Genoss Hazard.7528

I think its sad that the human race have been pushed aside by Arenanet. In gw1 we got to play human and only human, they were very dominant over other races, they inhabited many regions (Tyria, Cantha, Elona and perhaps even further than we know). To be honest i think they should feature more prominently than the other races, because Tyria was a human continent and so were Cantha and Elona, also the Bulk of Guild Wars lore is based on human activity. But what Arenanet is currently doing is focusing on “The five races” theme which I like and enjoy but the humans barely feature, and the problem with that is how do they expect to connect and relate Guild Wars 2 to Guild Wars 1 because gw1 was all human (mostly) at this rate I don’t think we will even go to Cantha and Elona (If this really happens ill be quite pissed) because we know they are human continents and Arenanet wont make expansions focusing on one race in particular. However its understandable of Arenanet to provide players with a variety of races to attract potential players. I really hope Arenanet has furture plans for the human race because:
They have the most lore and backround compared to the other 4 races.
We know that there are other human continents which are possible candidates for future expansions.
Arenanet made beautiful and eccentric human kingdoms in gw1, (now think of how amazing Divinitys Reach is, imagine Kaineng city in gw2 and considering the leap of time it might be a thriving megalopolis or a slum, The jade sea + our current underwater system/combat = amazingness. All the diverse cultures of the gw1 games were inspired by real world locations, (Tyria-European themed, Cantha-Oriental themed, and Elona-African themed) Which i think is really amazing of them to do that because we as human players ( i hope your all humans O.-) can relate to the certain aspects of the game which was beautiful). I hope this changes your perspective on “Humans: A dying race?”
