You sure your AV or Firewall isn’t preventing you?

Apparently Avast AV is very prone for causing grief for this game.

EDIT: Might find some help in here.

Nah. That’s old. As of this patch, some people have had errors suddenly pop up when opening the launcher. I only use a basic built in firewall and no antivirus that would interfere and things worked fine before the patch, so it’s probably on Anet’s hand what the cause could be.

Electric Wyvern location: Was this necessary?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: GlitchyBat.3682

GlitchyBat.3682

I try to not qq or anything, like pitching middleground ideas, and can sympathize with gamedevs because I’m aware of how the industry and fans can be towards the creators. That being said, I was a bit irked today about something. inc rant

Little Electric Wyvern is potentially the most obtusely hidden pet for rangers, and there doesn’t seem to be any reason why. I was surprised glancing through the topic names, none seem to reference it. When I first heard about their location being on the last map, I figured it was just being treated as an end-game-expansion treat. As I finally finished Dragon’s Stand while preparing to do the end of the story, my mate as Druid went to get a Wyvern. Now I’m rather peeved because I know those who designed this stuff are better than the padded gates and artificial time limits involved.

1 Actually reaching the region in Dragon’s Stand involves having a map set up enough to complete the meta-event. If you don’t have a good map, you’re stuck spending time surfing lfg and getting lucky with getting into a good map. Key word being luck, because the player has little control over this. What doesn’t help all Dragon Stand maps are in synched timers, so if it takes too long for them to get a good map and it’s too tedious, might as well just wait for the next cycle… in two hours.

2 Once you get in a good map, you now have to run with a zerg down the lane and see the event through to the end. From my experience, it took about an hour to reach the final area. I believe that’s considered average. So now in addition to getting a good map, you’ll most likely have to be on that map for another hour and hope that the groups suddenly don’t suck somehow, your client crashes, or disconnects. Even if you have a party friend to bring you back, you’d now have to fight everyone else on that instance and it’s lfg slot competition all over again.

3 So you made it to the end, beat up the boss, and everyone’s high fiving and stuff. Now you have to go and actually get Electric the Wyvern. But your map did good. The boss was beaten an hour before the map is closed. But despite your map doing fine, you’re still limited with 15 minutes to get your new friend. Map completion with 15 minutes for the average player is another topic. Any rangers who didn’t look up where the exact spot for wyverns are will ultimately end up asking mapchat. The environment isn’t exactly the most straightforward with everything in sight, so you’d be flying around a lot to try and find a path to where people might tell you where the wyverns are.

4 Which leads to the next issue. The reoccurring Masteries gating. Due to the experience curve for higher levels in Masteries, Advanced Gliding takes a lot of labor. Even the chain events begin to feel like they’re giving mere slivers as time goes on, and nothing can even really be done about it. It is possible to bypass this by channeling your inner Mario and pretending some tricky flight and jump tricks to reach the island, but it isn’t obvious, and most likely not intended. The player still has 15 minutes every time they’re there to even have a chance.

tl;dr
Your ability to get an Electric Wyvern is gated by luck of a good map instance, staying in that map for about an hour (or constantly trying to enter a party member’s instance), and require you to know exactly how to get there due to an arbitrary 15 minute crunch time no matter how well the map performs. It also demands L4 gliding mastery which, due to the slow nature of higher mastery levels, are gated by grind. Better off to do glide and jump shenanigans to get to the island.

While I’m not familiar with the Guild Wars 2 Pokedex of locations, I feel like it’s safe to say no pet is as poorly placed as the Electric Wyvern (I don’t know if Tiger has a similar problem. Tigers aren’t as adorable as wyverns so I haven’t researched). Fire Wyvern was sensibly placed, and I personally don’t see why Electrics weren’t on another island in Verdant Brink like that. Or in literally any other area that doesn’t involve gates, timecrunches, waiting, and luck.

So to sum it all up, was this really necessary for a single pet to be so difficult to get? (reminder to designers and players alike: difficulty != challenge)

Tweak suggests for HP that aren't complaining

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: GlitchyBat.3682

GlitchyBat.3682

Yeah, I was looking forward to do HoT content with elite specs powered up but can’t due to the grind, but I don’t mind a little effort to put in. The middleground feels lost amongst the complaints though between “git gud” and “I have a life” though, so I guess I just felt like throwing this down before it gets merged into a cluttered mess and never acknowledged.

A lot of people wanted to finally play their elite specs throughout a lot of the content for HoT, but can’t because they won’t have their elite specs until they’ve already played through most of the HoT maps. You have to raise your masteries high enough before you can go to most of them, and to raise your masteries you have to chase tags for the big events and level up.

I personally feel like they missed an opportunity to just do what L1-80 did, give the players a good chunk of hero points for leveling up reasonable tiers of masteries or something. Just by doing that, you make at least some clusters of hero points people have to do all the work for on their base class, completely optional for all but those 100%ing the map, which let’s be honest, is still how hero points work in core and L1-80.
The grind wouldn’t be so bad, because leveling up means you’re still empowering your elite class. At that point, you use hero points to speed up the process rather than be forced to go get them, also just like how the core handled them. Plus, you get a little experience from hero points anyways too, which also gets you closer to mastering it.

These sorts of tweaks would at least vastly speed up the process of getting elite specs. If this was a matter of a skin or whatever like a legendary or ascended, it wouldn’t be a big deal. But this is about entire class mechanics that are locked behind a large wall of leveling and tomfoolery for PvE and WvW. A little work isn’t going to kill anyone, and the newness of the jungle and its more complex events (Pale Reavers yeeea) are fun enough to get the masteries up and explore more. Personally, I believe that would be a better chain than to gate all of the 10HP nodes with various mastery requirements, some of which are very plain lock and key concepts (the poison bacon one in that second map, for example, prevents any regen and drops your health significantly to get without the mastery it requires). Gliding, updraft, and things that involve the player a bit more are a lot more forgiveable than what is shallow gating like that, because it’s a pretty new experience that’s fun to play around with and explore otherwise.

Thoughts? Other possible solutions? Creative names to call me for whining for attention? I just felt like some more constructive discussion on what needs revamping and what a good middleground between casual and xXxh4rdc0rexXx would be for consideration.

As it stands, I really want to enjoy the expac, but my main target’s to run around and be best friends with Glint, which by the time I’ll be able to even be able to have my third utility skill, I would’ve had to scavenge 1/4th of the new maps. I think I’ve only unlocked shield and herald so far. It’s really hard to keep playing when I have so much to do for the mechanics I want to play with and practice for raids and such.

Mordrem Invasion Update: 11 September 12:30 PM

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GlitchyBat.3682

GlitchyBat.3682

I’m more interested if we could get some kind of clearer idea of what this stuff was intended to do and what the designers were thinking along when arranging this. I imagine Anet gives Gaile and friends a limit to what they can say to the public, but I’d like if there was a bit stronger of a flow from devs to players about these things and not as much ambiguity as “event didn’t go as intended.” Not shooting the messenger, thanks for being at the podium when you can Gaile.

I think the reoccurring problems brought up in the past pages is enough so I don’t have much to add about the event itself. The designers are probably aware of this, but I’ll say it anyways: I personally think small consistent rewarding is easier to hook and engage players over large end-of-the-meta-event rewards. That’s why Silverwastes is far more popular as a place to participate, whether chest trains or event maps, than the invasion. It’s easy to have a player try to get “just one more” before leaving.

I will chime in that when I saw Watchwork Moas were a prize, I was interested. But I stick around for events to finish and got slow blossoms as a result, so it wasn’t worth the time investment, luck of tagging enough, and extra 5g. Ended up taking advantage of the slight price drop on the TP for one instead, since gold is easier and more variously obtained than blossoms.

On a related note nah GW2 is pretty chilly beans. Content drought is all with HoT coming along. I only really hear the hatred at the forums but in game no one really seems to care too much beyond really minor things.

I spared Scarlet's life.

GlitchyBat.3682

I wasn’t around for Scarlett’s fiasco, but there were some really broken things about her. Almost to the point of mary suisms. A random Sylvari popped out of a tree and while most are naive at birth, she goes and takes on a million different subjects, was a top performing student in two Asuran colleges, becomes a master of machinery and engineering, and gets to be the first to peer directly into the very fabric of the universe itself.

The alliances always struck me a little odd too, since she was apparently able to waltz into Dredge/Fire Legion hangouts and say “heeeyo you two should hook up”. Even weirder seemed the Toxic Alliance, in which I have a hard time imagining a Sylvari hopping into Krait territory and saying she could bring a prophet when Krait loathe anything that isn’t them and normally don’t listen to a single non-Krait word.

Though like I said, I wasn’t around to see how she managed that, so there’s probably details in those I glossed over. Still haven’t seen the cinematic summary woops.

Downed skills balance (sugestions)

_ they’re on the wall attacking with staff_ (i did it sometimes being alone in a fortification) jumpdown on a zerg attacking a gate pop armor of earth + tornado throw everyone around, if dying they cast mist form and go back inside…

That… sounds amazing and silly. I have to try that just to annoy besieging zergs, and I almost never go into WvW.

As a something whose first class and main was ele, I naively thought that downed skills would be comparably good to Vapor Form. When I played Mesmer as my second class, I found myself essentially dead by the time I was downed. Necro 3 is eh but 2 I can imagine is pretty good if your enemy isn’t popped with stability. (which almost always seems like the case. That or it’s single target. I don’t know necro very well)

In PvP at least, Ele downed 3 seems pretty bad, or I just need to git gud. I guess it was supposed to be you’d vapor form away and then use 3 to immobilize your attacker, but needless to say that’s pretty impractical. Long cooldown and channel. By the time you land it, you’re already stomped by someone’s rabbit banner.

Can we train the Elder Dragons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GlitchyBat.3682

GlitchyBat.3682

Force of nature sums up their role in the lore. They exist solely to show Tyria’s progression and perseverance in them hanging out eating magic.

We just know that dragon minions themselves can be befriended through who the meow knows what. Ventari did it. Happened to Glint too (Forgotten?)

The initial plan was to kill Kralkatorrik and have Glint take his place, which would be an okay alternative to sending Kralka some chocolate and flowers and offering peace. Then Logan's Run happened.

That being said, Pact is dumb stupidfaces for hurting Elder Dragons and, with how each will grow stronger than the last along with their minions, will be hilarious by the time we face the last Elder Dragon who’s just gobbling up literally all the magic in Tyria since the other Elder Dragons would be dead and unable to repeat the magic cycle.

Celestial is a word I’d heard before but didn’t fully understand. Essentially it’s just a general damage/surv stat? Sorry, I just leveled my first professions to 400 and I don’t remember seeing anything like that.

Celestial is just another prefix for your gear. It’s not as accessible as typical stuff like Berserker or Soldiers or whoever. You need a specific recipe and it requires Charged Quartz which, with a low supply and high demand, has gotten expensive lately. Unless you go WvW, you don’t really need to worry about it since PvP lets you access Celestial stats. It’s basically a jack of all trades stat choice instead of a focus on three stats that most prefixes are.

I’m no pro gamer pvper or wvwer, though I do those occasionally, so I can throw my two cents in.

In PvE at least, you can do most things even in berzerker (typical full damage stuff burst stuff) and your survivability will come from water and arcane traits and using your attunements to gain boons (into earth protection -33% incoming damage is delicious).

That philosophy tends to go into PvP builds, but I usually saw Celestial stats (ups all stats a little, rather than a main stat and two minor ones). You can experiment in pvp easier, since you can freely swap your gear stats and build when not in a match.

WvW I almost never do. All I know is drop AoEs on bad guys and hope they die before your zerg does.

EDIT since new post also mentioning dying instantly. PvP yeah I could barely do anything in since you’ll be vaporized without really good team support or high experience. Low health, light armor. I think the meta tends to lean towards cantrips. Your focus is good for learning defensively I guess? I was trying a typical Cele D/D build to try being more useful at PvP, and I think it might be a good starting point to get a feel for the strong points of an ele.

Also really, Water and Arcane traits. Earth if you want extra defensiveness. And get used to abusing your attunement swaps. Four weapon skillsets and boons you get from swapping via something or other in Arcane trait line is kind of crux.

Warhorn has potential as another option for AoE, I would believe. Offhand Dagger doesn’t really give much in the way of damaging multiple targets at once, and focus doesn’t do any of that at all unless you count the fire field. Basically, Warhorn could give an option for AoE without locking 1-3 weapon skills to what Staff has.

Or, it could not. Goodbye, Ele with Jormag’s Breath.

I can’t remember the last bad organization because most people there have done it enough to collectively start and organize themselves. The most I usually do is mapchat to check in on defenses and turrets within the 15 minutes before, and eventually someone will call the lfXg defense message if something’s underfunded.

If everyone’s dancing around banners, food, and an occasional bobblehead factory, you’re probably good to go. A map 20 minutes old should eventually get that.

[Suggestion] Buff chat log for commanders

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GlitchyBat.3682

GlitchyBat.3682

I have to say this is a very useful and (relatively) practical to apply. This seems like an extremely easy way to make commanders more prevalent.

I imagine the reason why we have not seen a feature like this was because anet had intended for squad chat to be used in this way, however we are all aware this is not currently practical.

The only downsides I can see is that for map chat advertisements people will tag up to get more attention for their posts, creating an excess of commanders not currently commanding in a given zone. This of course will defeat the purpose as the map will be more difficult to organize. That being said with a change as subtle as a little command tag in front of a name it will be easily seen while may not encourage too much abuse of it for advertisement attention.

Yeah, I don’t WvW much, so I almost never have a reason for squads, and most people aren’t going to join a squad for a <10 minute world boss or SW chest train or something. I guess it mostly has its place in the more strategic WvW maps?

The advertisement abuse will happen. To be fair though, the more annoying they are, the more backlash a busy map will probably give them. Wouldn’t help their cause very well. People can already cause mayhem with their tags as it is, and I don’t usually see that kind of thing happening often, at least in modern times. Wasn’t playing when the tags were first introduced, but it sounded like there would be kitten meowyfaces who would try to steer everyone off course. If any severe abuse occurs, it’d probably be on this theoretical update and die down over time. Point is, I think people will call out advertisers and misleaders and it’d generally get harshly discouraged.

It’s also notable that yeah, with slight color changes or an icon slapped onto the name, it’s mostly about filtering out who’s tagged from who’s not in map/team/whatever. You could read the name next to the tag or see who’s got bubble up in your zerg or whoever.

You raise an interesting point. One thing that was sometimes a pain for me when commanding is when I need to type fast due to autorun or staying alive, and I need to swap focus from mapchat to saychat.
I can imagine a counterargument that tunnel vision will make those ignoring mapchat or teamchat have things directed to it seem out of context (and hopefully hilarious, on occasions) but I can’t think of anything that would necessarily make it a problem if commanders had say bubbles on any public chat mode.

The commander chat log needs huge buffs.

  1. Different commander colour
  2. Commander text at the start
  3. Commander icon infront of the text

Color in the text wouldn’t hurt, if they make it in a way that it doesn’t clash with other chat modes. (red for map, blue for party, whatever)

Commander in front of everyone’s name seems a bit much because of how it would stretch out the nametag. Might not be very good for those with low resolution and interfaces. The commander icon would be instantly identified with very little extra space needed. Less clutter.

[Suggestion] Buff chat log for commanders

One thing that sometimes felt like a pain was if a map is organizing and a commander’s involved and doing stuff, the rest on mapchat will be giving updates or talking about their bad RNG or something. It can clutter the mapchat/teamchat/whoeverchat with a lot of text that can make searching for a commander’s instructions or messages a bit tedious, especially if you’re trying to stay alive or keep up with a zerg, and can’t be bothered to keep reading for commander’s name and instructions in chat. I usually had a hard time following in WvW, in example. I’d imagine PvE heavy organizations like TT or something would potentially benefit from this pitch here.

If elected president, I propose that the chat log get some kind of buff that lets it carry the Dorito colors or change commander text somehow so it’d be more easily recognizable when you’re just glancing at the chat for a single line or two, instead of juggling around and leaving yourself to messing up in game while trying to read and stay up to date on what’s going on or what’s going to be done next.

Attached are totally not bias at all scenarios that show the hidden usefulness about having tagged players have an icon or something next to their name.

I don’t really know if the demand or interest of this tweak is worth the effort of modifying the chat panel, but it was on my mind for the past few days from following in WvW or organizing maps for Teqqy or stuff. You can make fun of me now.

No, that’s not really a good compromise. We need real content to do and Anet needs to address this in HoT by giving us more difficult world bosses and/or an elite zone. Or give us guild summons for a hard mode version of world bosses. The current state of things is terrible.

I dig the guild difficulty option, provided they have some kind of incentive for the buff (so that people can complain when they join a teq guild for better rewards and Super Teq is too hard)

That being said, as it is now, if you want challenge, handicap yourself for the time. Skinny dip with Teq and leave the map if you die if you want Teq harder than he’s become accepted to be. I’m hoping for enough varied content in HoT that can be challenging, but not a boring slugfest like Teq and some other bosses were with doubled HP before the crit fix.

Tequatl’s nice because he can give me my daily fix and income if I’m busy. That, along with needing a Sunless weapon skin, makes me happy to see the crit spot is fixed and Tequatl is back to his pre-traits’n’conditions difficulty more or less. If I ever feel up for a challenge, usually I’ll just go berzerker ele double-dagger and practice staying alive while clipping his toenails. Doesn’t lead to high stress of having wasted 45 minutes as the past two weeks had been.

I still pitch that the hardcore apples find/form guilds dedicated to handicapping themselves and doing Teq and other things that way, if they’re in this for challenging runs and not rewards as some claim. That’s a safe compromise, yes? It’s a player driven way for adding the artificial difficulty they yearn for so much and doesn’t necessarily mean everything else has to be more of a pain for the rest of us.

Salvaging

I just use Basic. It’s slightly more copper than the Crude kit yet it has chances of obtaining higher tier ingredients (orichalcum from mithril stuff, ancient wood from elder stuff, etc)
88c isn’t very much either, so you can’t really go wrong. I guess you can use Fine or whatever else if you want to spend the silver and however much else it is per kit.

Post a pic of your character only if your armor is mix-n-match

My mommy always said to not post pictures of myself online, but here you go anyways.

I’m sorry to tell you, but that devourer is not mix and match. Or is it a cross-breed?

I wish there was a tonic for Frostbite. He’s a cross between a devourer and a qt.

I don’t even really know what my armor is, too lazy to check. I mostly tried replicating the general aesthetics of Final Fantasy’s Red Mage, but the plumed hat is medium armor which makes me cry. Kind of wish there was a way to transmute across armor weights, but oh well.

Otherwise, I try to be pretty simple with designs to seem okay and fit in.

Not pictured are my weapons where I start getting flashy. I have a theme of Elder Dragon weapons; Primordus Scepter, Dagger of the Dragon’s Deep (Bubbles standin since 2deep4u), Mordrem Staff, Glint’s Scale for Kralkatorrik, and second dagger Corrupted Dagger. I need Tequatl’s Hoard so I can get a Sunless’s skin to stand in for Zhaitan, and would probably be a dagger if Tempest gets sword since I have Jormag’s Breath waiting.

Slick Move

When they fix the bugs and turn it down a notch the specialization huggers will be in for a shock, and the real truth will be revealed!

I have no idea what’s being said here, but I think you’re saying something about bugs and saying new changes break the game? Turn what up to 10 and down a notch?

The last time when some HoT stuff was added, a ton of bugs were created. The Jungle Wurm in Caledon was turned into playdough. This specialization/new trait stuff is such a massive rewrite to the game that of course it needs to be rebalanced and tested over time. We’re also talking about a complex MMORPG where we have a few hundred people(?) who develop for the game and release it to literally millions of people worldwide. Balance and bugtesting for all that isn’t really a cakewalk and said millions of people will probably do stuff the devs wouldn’t think of when they’ve got a big list of other things to do on a time and budget, even if some of the bugs we’ve seen the past few days are odd to have been left in either after testing or when the patch was applied to everyone’s builds.

[Suggestion] Salvage Glob of Dark Matter

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GlitchyBat.3682

GlitchyBat.3682

Mawdrey II and Princess gives me a rare a day, it sometimes feels like. That’s not too bad when you’re getting a stack of Dragonite Ore and Bloodstone Dust every day you play.

It honestly feels to me that crafting ascended insignias/inscriptions is more expensive than just buying low on the TP (though actually getting one there can demand a bit of luck). I never use Dark Matter because of that. Even if it’s cheaper, it still means salvaging exotics and hoping you’re lucky enough to get enough Dark Matter to make what you’re making. If you don’t have any, then it becomes somewhat high-risk luck based, unless you’re swimming in gold, especially if you don’t have a BL Salvage Kit.

An eater kind of seems underwhelming for Dark Matter though, yeah. With the Vision Crystal ingredients, you get swamped with them playing normally. Dark Matter has a very specific way of being obtained.

If you don’t want a guaranteed way of getting, say, ecto from them, there’s always the possibility of making them tradeable with the ecto gambler, but it would need to demand a decent handful. iirc you could salvage up to 3 from an exotic, and lowest exotics that yield dark matter probably go around 80s-1g(?). You do the math for what’s balanced for that kind of thing. Just something to help sink extra Dark Matte.

Oh thank goodness. Nice to hear this is actually considered a bug and not intended. Thank you for the communication.

what? the double hp is a bug? ummm so bugs now came on the release notes? and for the epic-glorius-elite/hardcore guild, congratulation for beating TEQ and excludin people, really tanks, heres your cookie

The crit spot is a bug. World bosses at next update will be properly crittable again. Tequatl’s meta will probably lean back to how it was before the HP doubled, meaning no more sitting under Teqt and having to spam reflects and hope turrets are cleaning poison.
If I had to guess, we’ll go back to shaving Teq’s toenails again and PUG maps will be more consistent at winning, since the intended crit rate and less risk of downing/dying people will help balance out the doubled HP as intended. Happy to hear this too. Sunless skins don’t feel so unreachable now.

Ironically, when the update comes, the zerg will keep fighting the way it is now and we’ll have to tell everyone to attack the feet again ;_;

I’m no businesseer, but NCSoft sounds like they acquired Anet at some point and helped to fund it? Consequentially, they probably tell Anet how much to charge. I’m thinking of it along the lines of stocks where your stock owners tend to have a say in how you may do things(???).

NCSoft might not directly develop GW2, but it sounds like they did help fund it and have that kind of power. Not necessarily affecting the way the game is developed.

Anet seems like they get a lot of hate here for the Unbalancing Update and HoT pricetag, among other things. Not to equip tinfoil to head, but I wouldn’t be surprised if individuals in the company agree with the player base but other influences (their bosses, NCSoft investors, time itself) prevent them from getting absolutely everything perfect. MMOs are also enormously complex and having some design/programming experience, I don’t really think they deserve as much hate as they get. Especially if we don’t know where their deadlines and constraints are specifically coming from.

tl;dr – ramble: NCSoft may have games they directly develop, but that might not be the case for GW2 which is developed directly by Anet. Probably.

Just ran yet another Tequatl. Success at about 2 minutes, burns got progressively better, except people get lazy by the last sliver of health and stop rezzing/reflecting/etc. Bad move but otherwise it feels like most Teq runners are starting to adapt to this. May still be too lucky, as we had some defences secured by [TTS] or whoever. Might also be wise to have someone who can stay still and be very tanky stand on the crit spot, since they don’t have to move wildly around like a berzerker to stay alive and people can focus on stacking at the tag a lot better. Having passed to a guardian may have helped immensely in our fight.

I think as people adapt to this longer, less forgiving Teq, the fixing of crits will make him about the same difficulty as he was before the Unbalancing Update. Less awkward stacking and survivability needed when you can properly crit his toenails.

After the stress Teq puts a lot of people through ever since the HP buff, it’s relieving and hilarious to watch his bar get vaporized. Things will probably be okay by the time crits are fixed.

Tequatl’s loot is awful for the luck based maps and stuff, but this will have to do until Anet finds the sweet spot for his health pool and fixes the crit hitbox.

I’d suggest people to request Guardians to use the symbol build or whatever it is if you don’t want to slug through a flip-of-the-coin chance of a spoon or wasting 30~60 minutes for nothing.

That, or Tequatl really doesn’t like Doritos.

Tequatl isn’t impossible without 80% of zerg being Symbolist Guardians. However, he becomes very impractical. No Guardian run would be a step for hardcore players though.

There’s an idea, actually. If there’s a demand for content to be artificially more difficult (yes, this is what Teq’s HP doubling has done) by hindering yourself, I would propose guilds dedicated to doing exactly that. Have them fill a map and run Tequatl early. A close guild could probably keep everyone in check and tell everyone to not use a certain class, certain strategies, or whatever else. There you can have an entirely player-driven way to add more challenge to the game and give achievers their highs without leaving these barriers for normal players. Since the hardcore demographic probably has a zillion alts at L80 and stuff, and usually pay far closer attention than the average Joe, this isn’t really a matter of Lil’ Guardian in his Tutu surrounded by Mountain Dew fueled naked elementalists, since this theoretical guild is full of people who want to play a certain way.

Also, the hardcorians will loophole their No Guardian run by having everyone be engineer and spam grenedes as fast as they can.

>Anet doesn’t nerf Tequatl’s health. Fixes all OP player bugs and designs.
>Successful Tequatl maps drastically drop.
>Even guild maps consistently fail.
>"Git gud lazy 111ers all skill no luck"

Once crit spots are fixed and player exploits are adjusted, yeah Teq can be better gauged. Hopefully they apply a patch today that does these things any moment now and see if the crits being reasonably placed and functional will make up for the doubled HP after all. Otherwise, this discussion’s just going in circles.

As it stands, a successful Tequatl map is luck and relies on having a large bunch of reflectors that can stay on the crit spot and all know this is now necessary to even stand a decent chance. I’ve even seen organized guilds fail simply because they weren’t able to keep enough reflects off thanks to literally being tossed around by waves losing half their health, poison AoE hammering them, and insta-downed by Tequatl’s smashing feet.

>Just jump you don’t even need to dodge the waves
You do realize that I, and probably a lot of others, see the wave before or after it fired and it’s not always synched up with the hitbox, right?

Tips fedora I use Linux Mint based on Ubuntu and wouldn’t mint a native port, but it’d still cost manpower and even though I guess their OSX client has been in beta forever, it works good enough. The niche for Linux based GW2 players is so tiny it probably wouldn’t be worth the manpower or headaches of other distro users or such complaining something isn’t working. Wine works with GW2 but I’ve not gotten it to work, mostly since last I tried the client downloading the game would crash (would probably want to get that to work first)
