Kaineng Server good?

To the last two posters (Tandy and nekos), you’re both somewhat correct. After reset night, when we paint the map, the trend has been that Kaineng no longer brings their “A” game. Instead of a strategic and solid game with skilled people and geared characters, we play the whack-a-mole game with supply camps game and run-to-the-control-point-before-it-flips game with our low-level alts while wearing armor 10 levels behind where we are. In other words, you probably didn’t see us at our best, and to paraphrase my long post, probably wonder how Kaineng manages to tie its shoes in the morning.

If you’ve played against us, you pretty much have to judge us solely on what you saw on reset night, when all servers have queues and full battlegrounds. That’s the game we bring it matters. If you missed it, well, then you missed playing against Kaineng.

Are we T1 quality? Probably not. The real question is whether or not we can develop into T1 quality. But yes, we do know how to tie our shoes.

Kaineng Server good?

You will know the answer to your question next week: Kaineng is scheduled to go up to T2

I’m not sure if I’m scared or excited by this right now. But I think we’ll have our first good eye-opener from this.

A lot of us really are ready and waiting to prove ourselves in T2. But I saw a lot of bandwagoners in WvW this last reset night who are most certainly not ready right now. I guess we might know sooner rather than later how they will react. If enough of them train up and get serious or move on to greener pastures in the dungeons, we’ll be fine… but it may take several days for them to do that.

Kaineng Server good?

Thanks for the much texted reply. So if I understand correctly Kaineng is good at WvW, it a WvW server but problem is that there no competition until we move up to the tier that is equal to us, is this correct?

Also what the server like for PvE, dungeon ect are they populated.

That’s pretty much it in a nutshell – we’re not correct for this tier. Until we find the tier right for us, we don’t really know how everyone will react under pressure. But most of us who have been in the Kaineng WvW community for a while are eagerly looking forward to it.

Lots of great comments and observations

Queue bloat is a definite problem right now, and it really got bad this past reset. We’re not all getting in where we need to be. And it’s especially bad because for the past few weeks, there hasn’t really been large-scale competition past the first several hours of the WvW week – if you miss it it’s gone. I don’t really know what it would be like if we had to continue fighting past reset night, but I’d like to think that we could generally get in with our guilds and commanders without too much problem during the rest of the weekend and into the week. Some queue = okay, long queue = not okay.

We’ve not had paid transfers in this game before, so it’s hard to know what it will do. I do believe it will provide some resistance to any mass guild exodus. Any guild who becomes frustrated over the next few weeks will stick it out for at least a couple more weeks before transferring, and that will be doubly true for guilds who have been on Kaineng long enough to help us get where we are now.

I don’t know the character of everyone in our battlefields right now, but I know that WM, RE (and the rest of the excellent guilds in the NEO Alliance), SoS, ONI, and many others will stick it out. Yeah, I’m missing a lot of great long-term and transfer guilds here and in my description above – there’s too many to name them all, so I won’t even attempt a complete tag-drop here

My guess is that we’ll see a lot of the problems you describe, but I’m hoping that once the kitten hits the fan (yuck!), the people who drop first will be the PvEs, casuals and fairweathers, giving the more hardcore and casualcore players prime spots in WvW.

Kaineng Server good?

Just a couple of quick and brief comments…

First, a bit of history… When WvW turned from daily into a weeklong fight, Kaineng started out at T8. Kaineng and their then-nemesis Devona’s Rest played against each other, working up to T5-quality fights for several weeks. We specifically targeted each other, with DR’s greater population often punishing K. Since neither server got enough points to move out of T8 (glicko-2 has some anomalies in last place), we both held each other in T8 for weeks. Once one of us moved up and we were only facing “real” T8/T7 servers, we both quickly shot up.

About that time, RE and WM moved in, along with a couple of other WvW guilds. They can (and have) spoken many times of their reasons for moving, but I like to think our WvW community was a big part of it. Between WM’s highly publicized move and our unreal scores on mos.millenium, we started attracting a lot of attention. We started getting a kittenton of transfers, both from opponents we faced and from other higher-tier servers. It got much worse on transfers this past week since paid transfers were announced. Since the T1/T2 servers are apparently full, we seem to be one of a few beneficiaries of being in the right place at the right time.

Kaineng’s WvW does not equal War Machine. Now don’t get me wrong – I absolutely love them. I’ve run with WM on reset night, and they’re very impressive and VERY tightly controlled in every aspect (Jang, I will never put down siege when running with your group again ). Many of the commanders on K have learned a lot from them about siege placement, defense and attack, choosing targets, and simply running from one place to another, and we continue to learn every week. WM is a fixture of Kaineng’s strong WvW community and will be sticking around for a long time. But they’re just one strong guild of many – now too many to name – and cannot be everywhere at once. We have good guilds and good commanders on every map. We run the gamut from large commanded groups to surgical strike squads, both attacking and harassing on EB and every borderland. And at every tier, we learn more as we face stronger and stronger enemies.

Overall, Kaineng has a strong WvW core which has been here for a long time, and we have a welcoming WvW community. Map chat is generally professional and task-oriented (and I ask any who come NOT change that). Many of us have a lot to learn, but we are focused and willing to learn.

But there’s some downsides to WvW on Kaineng these days, the first being the incredible queue times. I complained last week when the queue times hit 30 minutes on reset night. This week, it was more like an hour. And when any camp flips and there’s color on any map this weekend, there’s instantly a queue for that borderland. Also, the average quality may have gone down this week – I was noticing some incredibly sloppy play from our side on reset night. Don’t get me wrong, we have several top-tier people really making a difference, but I think we also have a lot of people bandwagoning in who still have a lot to learn.

Lastly, these past few weeks have required a lot of patience. We often have great battles on reset night, but once the maps get painted blue WvW is a rather boring place to be. I think this will get fixed when we rise up to the tier we’re supposed to be playing at, whatever that may be. Quality of play goes way down during the week as people, including me, level alts and we are forced to turn from strategic attacks to a mad rush to the action before the action goes away. Play quality in these situations is sometimes so bad that our bloodied and beaten opponents openly and not-so-kindly ask on the forums how we even mange to tie our own shoes.

Last week I was at least able to level up an alt by running from camp to camp, but this week, the camps are flipping before I can even get there… so back to sPvP and PvE for now.

TL:DR: Kaineng has a broad, strong core. But playing on Kaineng will require a lot of patience. If you want a long-term WvW home, Kaineng might work for you. If you are looking for great battles right now, I’m afraid you’ll want to look elsewhere.

No for the simple fact that I can’t find a good fight anywhere. There is NO talent in all of Kainzerg.

Its only hard when taking on 4+ Kainzerg Invaders.

Congrats on beating all of our up leveled alts and irregular WvW players? Most of us don’t spend more than 30 min a day in there on weeks like this on our mains.

^ Pretty much this.

There’s currently little-to-no challenge in WvW at the moment, so many (not all) Kaineng forces aren’t playing our best. We’ll pull it back out on Reset Friday.

When I’ve been in WvW the past few days, it’s been to get XP on my upleveled-and-undergeared leafy mesmer. While I’ve had my share of kills, I’ve also handed out lots of badges lately – and that’s okay. I’ve also gained a lot of levels, which was my real goal. I think a lot of other people are playing the same way.

And this sums up the past few weeks of Kaineng WvW forum chat, too. When the weeks start out, forum posts note Kaineng’s strength and strategies. As the weekend closes and the map is one-colored, a few posts come out about how K may not be all its cracked up to be. And during the week with the map painted, we’ve seen tons of posts about how K is soft, easily killed, no skill, etc. Our opponents comment about Kaineng being crushed at the next tier by Server X, and make irrational bets about how K will never pass Tier Y. It’s not because we are not a solid server, it’s that we don’t have to bring everything to the table right now.

There’s plenty of talent on Kaineng. A lot of it was out in force on Friday night and Saturday morning. But this tier won’t see much of it anymore, unless the map starts changing colors again.

In the meantime, just enjoy your badges from killing our upleveled XP groups!

Why is it that whenever we show up on a map and take a single tower, the full population allowed at once on that map for Kain show up to crush us? Seriously, you aren’t even giving us a chance to get a foothold on a map. You are already guaranteed to move up to the next wvw tier. http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#NA
Really we try to get some stuff done and Kain’s only response is to mega zerg us, nothing else.

It’s nothing coordinated or malicious. It’s just that there’s nothing else to do.

There’s a lot of us looking for something to do in WvW, so when a spot on any map changes colors, we all individually show up there, often arriving together.

Same with the spawn camping. Don’t get me wrong – I disapprove of spawn camping, and when we drive the enemy back to spawn I yell at my compatriots briefly then go elsewhere. But people linger at the enemy’s spawn simply because sometimes that’s the best or only place to find enemies.

The odds of Kaineng making it even to T4 are stacked against them. Currently Kaineng is winning T6 by a margin only slightly better than Maguuma is winning T5.

It appears that a long-time T4+ server is dropping down to join us in T5. We are looking forward to our matchup against Ehmry Bay. I expect they will attempt to stop us in our tracks, and we are eagerly awaiting the challenge. I think we’ll have a pretty good idea by the end of the night what the next few weeks look like for us on Kaineng.

If we continue improving our strategies the way we’ve been doing for the past few weeks (and no, we’re not “only zergs”), I will be very optimistic about Kaineng’s chances.

Elementalist Survivability

Greenfox.8023

If you’re still leveling up… levels 15 through 30 are pretty tough for Elementalist survivability. I died a LOT in that range.

Go for toughness and vitality (on the rare case where you choose armor rather than letting it drop). Learn to dodge well. Pick your battles carefully. Run with people around you. Pick areas which are slightly below your level.

That level range comes and goes, and you’ll find yourself in a Much Better place.

I for one, not looking past AR or NSP, am looking forward to the possible rematch with Devrona Rest next week with even numbers this time. It was awesome fighting DR.
Im sure anyone who has been with Kain is looking forward to the rematch.

Nooo!!!! We’ve been looking forward to a rematch with DR for weeks now! We owe them more than just a little bloodletting!

People complaining about full maps? You should be grateful that your server still have an active wvw population instead.

Rather than complain, maybe we could use this thread for something more constructive. Would anyone like to make suggestions of servers having few or no queues into WvW?

(Just nobody transfer off of Kaineng… okay?)

Bravo Kaineng you took AR borderland Garrison after seven and a half hours of constant siege.

That was a fun fight too, lots of back and forth, each of us gaining ground and pushing back, then being pushed back. I’m sure enjoyment was had on all sides! I look forward to more!

Kaineng, I want to tip my hat, you guys are well organized. I am really impressed. I haven’t personally fought such strong WvW opponents up to this point. That said – be ready for NSP in their peak hours – they are very oceanic and they are very strong in the early morning hours EST.

And I’d like to tip my hat to AR and NSP. You guys are making us work hard, giving us a run for our money. It’s been a while since I’ve had this much fun in WvW.

But I’m sure you know that we have a strong night shift as well, with Kaineng being largely oceanic too. I’ll be very interested to see what the map looks like when I get up in the morning.

Keep it positive, friends!

Sorry dude, but none of that really has anything to do with why Kaineng is winning.

Your “map chat” communication really has nothing to do with it.

This was a rather offtopic response. Someone on the previous page was asking about map chat on Kaineng, I suppose because he was curious if it was different from his server’s map chat. (I would have replied earlier, but I got a kitten-ton of work slammed on my desk that had to be attended to first.)

The reason Kaineng is winning has been beaten to death for 8 pages now, and does not need to be rehashed further.

whats your map chat like in WvW? – i’m currently in the market for a new lawn.

I know I’m a bit late in responding. But succinctly, I’d say that our map chat is “all business”.

It’s the various commanders on the borderland map dividing up their responsibilities (you go here, I go there). It’s the commanders telling their followers where to go (grabbing supply from X and going to Y). It’s roamers and small squads reporting on what they’re taking. It’s roamers and small squads reporting on where they see enemy squads and zergs, and where they might be headed.

Of course, there’s also /say chats for local coordination among zergs and squads.

There’s really not that much off-topic chatter (well, maybe some, particularly later in the week as we’re getting bored), but it’s generally friendly and respectful.

Reading between the lines, I’m guessing you’re saying your map chat is different?

SoS Guild's Letter to WM

in WvW

Posted by: Greenfox.8023

Greenfox.8023

I thank you your welcome Chaster.

Now that we have moved our home, we must follow the rules here at Kaineng. I’ll get the message across to everyone that we are no longer in SBI so we should be more careful about typing Korean in map chat.

This is an English-only SoS officer welcoming WM to the server. I just wanted to clarify to make sure we don’t get or give the wrong impression.

Just to be clear, Chaster coordinates attacks and activities in map/team chat in Chinese all the time – if you’ve been in WvW with him, I’m sure you’ve seen it. Lots of people in SoS and elsewhere on the server are Chinese-only speakers, much like the Korean-only folks in your guild. But he gives the same instructions in both Chinese and English so all of us can understand.

I believe that’s all he’s asking of WM, that important information or instructions are given in English as well – it helps us all coordinate and take over the world (-vs-world) while working together. People on our side would be happy to translate your information into Chinese for those who need it, just as you’d translate to Korean for your guys and gals.

And personally, I’m glad to have another butt-kicking guild taking over the world (-vs-world) while I sleep, making defense that much easier during the day. Welcome again!
