14 days later, we’ve still not seen any fixes to this. I can’t complete w2Z3 now since I literally cannot move in the way the puzzle expects me to be able to move.
Rant:
I had the same experience last year and I figured it was because I was running it the first time. But no, I’m certain now that W2Z2 is just poorly constructed compared to the other zones. There is a sense of humor in tribulation mode where you have mindgames stacked on mindgames, is that patch of grass free from spikes? Is it it going to kill you? Is that bauble just bait? Sometimes the devs made sure to lull you into a false sense of security only to capitalize on that for a setup for a trap further down the road. And that’s what really made me fall in love with Tribulation mode, because the inside gags, the humor and the “Ahahaha, you FELL for that one?” factor just feels encouraging. You can really appreciate the work that went into the level design there.
But W2Z2 is just plain flat out tedious. It doesn’t have any gags at all, it’s just pure spikes everywhere in random positions, it feels arbitrary and as such it doesn’t really entice you to go any further. I stopped playing this today because I just felt so sad that the potential for that zone was just so squandered. Of course, it has THAT ONE SERIOUSLY HILARIOUS GAG which made me laugh so hard last year that I literally fell off my chair, but that’s not enough to save the player experience.
I really hope for next year that the devs take a long hard look at z2 and make it fun to play instead of just stupid-hard. Also, another reason why z2 is such a downer is that it’s blocking players from possibly the most epic experience in GW2: Scaling Storm Top with Dusks soundtrack in the background.
Edit:
With all this said, I would urge all players to grind through Z2 at least once, because you won’t reget it once you get to play that final level, it truly is awesome beyond words.
I quit just minutes after getting the elixir yesterday and now I find myself having to do it all over again. Wow Anet, way to be hostile to us casuals.
I’ll say this with regards to the heal rework: if they make druids mandatory for everything in PvE, that’s it for me. I started playing this MMO because it was different from all the others and because it gave me lots of options of how much adherent I wanted to be to a meta. But having to run around with a group for anything bigger than a wolf is going to get REALLY boring really fast.
Our guild has different ranks. The lowest rank gets kicked after two or three weeks of not logging in without any communication. Essentially your rank and your dedication to the guild determine if we kick you without a message or if we PM you and wait a few months.
As for other guilds forcing repping, that’s just insecurity. It hardly promotes your guild in the slightest. It’s way better to have officers that actually recruit instead and to be visible when you host world events or squads as a commander. Slap that tag into an LFG or if your guild is commanding a map, throw that tag into the announcement too.
There’s gonna be people saying “do this, do that, use this build, dont’ do that, play like this”
You know what my advice is? Run with a zerg, it’s the easiest way. Find a good populated map and just go with 50 other players, you will face absolutely no resistance and your XP bar will fill up in no-time. Do hero points and nab your specializations while you’re at it too. Really, I tried all the ways people said would be successful and it was mindnumbingly boring me to tears. Then I gave up and realized Hot = ZERG LOL and went with that. Also, Tarir meta = Massive XP, so find it and do it over and over.
Really, HoT isn’t hard once you figure out that a zerg is what these maps are created for and only that.
I don’t think I could disagree with this post more. Two or three people in a party is enough to do 90% plus of HOT. There may be one or two things you can’t do in each zone, but it’s minimal. Only the metas, which always need groups, require more people, and even then zergs aren’t required.
That’s the rub though, “could” as in doing it with lots of difficulty. It’s obvious that HoT is a collection of meta maps where you are supposed to run with a zerg to do most things. Going against that is just an excersize in frustration as far as I’m concerned. I mean, look at VB, you have your camps, all meta. Look at AB, same thing, tarir meta, pylons and what have you. Look at TD, chak meta. It’s all designed for large groups and denying that just ends up with frustration.
I can solo most of it. I do almost none of it with a lot of difficulty even if it’s just me and my wife. I don’t know why you find it difficult, because it’s not that difficult. If you don’t believe me, I’d be happy to show you.
Thank you, but no thank you.
I know the ways to solo it, but it always requires pidgeonholing into some solo meta or some tactic that I have no wish to learn when I can just play as I regularly do if I’m in a zerg. So soloing is just pure tedium in these maps, that’s my entire point. It’s doable yes, but why would I when I can make it easy on myself?

Thank you all for your help, I’ve since starting this topic managed to get the Shark and the Arctodus, so I’m slowly working my way towards the end here. I still say that this randomness is very offputting since you can get really unlocky with spawns in very remote areas.
Today I decided to try my hand at completing the crazed bloodstone slivers achivements. Mostly because I wanted the visage for a toon I’m going to create for Halloween. And I have to say, there is too little information and too many bugs for this to be enjoyable. The actual scavenger hunt is of course enjoyable as always, but the chase for the creatures and the lack of information anywhere on the subject is really making me wonder what the point is with this. I even lucked out and found two events where these beasts spawned, but both ended prematurely without any indication as to why they did so. Is that a bug or somesuch? Because if it is, then I’m not going to waste my time on this at all.
I get the chain with use locator, kill beasts and spawn crazed version, but it doesn’t seem to be reliable in the least. There’s far too many possible locations with no apparent actual spawning places. It’s just a random mess from my viewpoint.
So can somebody please explain to me how to reliably do this? I seriously feel as though I’m fumbling in the dark here with no indications as to how to do this. Even Dulfys guides that are usually incredibly on the spot are is just a vague indicator towards some places that hasn’t seemed to spawn anything.
Having done a lot of DS lately, I’m wondering if there is a reason why squad 2 always gets saddled with the pods in most maps. Since you’re all just running around to make a full circle, why not have everybody attack both targets while they’re there and then split like always into two groups once both collectors and pods are down?
Is there some kind of benefit to doing it the other way instead that I’m missing here?
Ran into pretty much every bug described in this thread. I’m restarting it for the fourth time now, hoping it won’t bug out. Really devs, if a quest hasn’t worked for three years, it’s time you threw in the towel and scrapped it. This clearly has some deep seated AI trigger issues between NPCs and monsters.
Edit: I had to wait a few minutes for Zott to start his speech out in the water. I didn’t touch anything during those minutes, thankfully this mission is over now.

Fashion. No really, that’s my endgame.
I really love the new shared line, I was hoping Anet would add that. (Thank you!) But I’m not a fan of the mandatory scrollbar thing now. I was hoping I could have one solid block of inventory once more with the shared slots being shown as being different from it.
I think centering those slots would help, or possibly to add a left/center/right alignment option for it.
What I don’t like is that if I play a Mesmer and try to do it legitely, people keep begging me to port them. No random player, I’M NOT A WALKING TELEPORTER!
Therefore, I avoid JPs with my Mesmer now.
First time SABer here. I really loved this and I’m impressed at the sheer amount of work the devs put in when they created this the first time. I also have to tip my hat at the INSANE attention to detail that they poured into Tribulation mode for world 1. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a multiplayer experience quite that much in my life. (and I’m old enough to actually know what all the SAB references are about..)
With all that said, World 2s Trib mode was a huge letdown for my guild since we expected more difficulty and more challenging puzzles. But we quickly discovered that there’s just a lot of incredibly hard pixel perfect jumps and that really made us quit beforehand. Figuring out where the “gotcha!”s are is nice, but just repeating the same jump 20 times because you missed pressing your button a microsecond too late is not challenging, it’s tedious. I will say though that the troll in 2-2 had us all laughing so hard that we had to take a long time-out to compose ourselves again. Best troll in a game I’ve ever seen in a game
Edit: Also, there is something seriously wrong with the Norns jumping acceleration formula. Sometimes I just like an Eagle, other times I plummet to my death.
Edit2: It’s a shame 2-2 is so cheap with regards to jumps, I nearly didn’t finish it, but decided against it and got to 2-3. I can only bow since I’m speechless. 2-3… just get there people. It’s beyond anything.

And yes, it’s this topic again. I think I saw the last one six months ago and nothing has changed since then. The map is rife with bugged events and the remaining ones are zerged so hard that by the time I port in or run there, they’re usually over.
And that’s really all there is to this topic. If there were enough events that worked, one wouldn’t have to either camp the spawns or waste an hour to get this done. For now, I’m just not going to put myself through this frustration anymore.
This is downright dishonest to do this. We were sold on the idea that if we used these boosters, we’d maximize our storage space and consolidate our available boosters. I would have never used up my karma boosters otherwise. Now I’m sitting with ~30 boosters that have been massively nerfed.
I’m very upset with this change since that was karma potential I had stockpiled in preparation for HoT.
Yep, got this one as well. I haven’t formally requested a refund either. I’m assuming this is some kind of issue with their payment systems that’ll be resolved soon.
This broken leveling system reminds me of Final Fantasy 8. Back then, it truly didn’t matter if you leveled, as long as you had the right magic to use for your stats. In this game, it kind of feels the same, except zerker is the meta that you should use.
My character is made of paper, it doesn’t matter if I’m outside Hoelbrak or deep into Orr, I get oneshotted by a mob of mobs either way.
Honestly no. The new aggressive scaling means that my character now feels like paper everywhere. I leveled for a reason, I want my 80 levels to matter if I go to a lower zone. They don’t, I get shredded in seconds now and it’s no fun at all.
Bosses are now HP sponges, since they have no new AI. Teq is now 99% fail and Jormag is just 100% boredom. I mean, before the patch, you had two waves of ice wall, now you have a mandatory three waves because of the HP buff. It’s excrutiating.
The new cookie cutter trait system means that I don’t get to choose anymore what I want. I don’t care that I get more points, because I have to invest those in things I’m not at all interested in to get the stuff I want to get to.
Overall, I’m not at all interested in HoT anymore, because the fundamentals about the game (power, loot, cool bosses) is now completely ruined for me. If I could get a refund for HoT, I would definitely request one now.
I’ve run six Teqs since the change, all failed. I’m on an EU server as well and tonight, I simply could not find a pug for Teq, nor could I find anyone advertising taxis there.
I couldn’t run Teq now even if I wanted to, everyone seems to agree that he’s impossible, therefore it’s not even worth trying.
