Can't pick up coins from TP

Hmm, no. I am puzzled as well as the TP isn’t even accessible in the PoF demo as we know. Mainly I’ve just been running around on my raptor mount exploring and doing the random event. Anyhoo, I just write this off as a strange bug which doesn’t really affect my gameplay in any negative kinda way.

Repair never works here, it only ends with the ol’ lockup and “not responding” message. But I think I got it narrowed down to the problem being the PoF demo. If I play the demo, the TP notification pops up when I go back and play GW2 normally . However, if I don’t play the PoF demo and choose one of my regular characters, the TP notification doesn’t appear. So I guess it’ll all go away later when the demo weekend ends. No biggie.

Yes, I am currently at the Black Lion Trader in DR. Otherwise the “Take all” button wouldn’t show, I suppose.

Before I put in a ticket, has anyone else experienced this? TP says I have X amount of coin pending pickup, but when I click “Take all” nothing happens. The money still sits there going nowhere… Not sure if it’s a bug on my side or server side.

Curious why more people don't PvP or WvW

I don’t do it, because I’m not very good at it and I don’t have the time nor motivation to do it properly. I did it a handful of times in GW1 and only a couple of times in GW2. Last time I was running around like a headless chicken while the others were perfectly aware about where to go and what to do. (Granted, we did win, but no thanks to me, haha). I’m perfectly fine doing PvE stuff tbh, I never even think about PvP tbh. Even if it’s there in a game, I don’t see an obligation to do it really.

Brightness bug back in Southsun Cove?

Yeah, I agree, and that was initially a consideration (the report thing) but at the same time I didn’t want to file a report until I saw other people’s opinions because I hate making a fool of myself because I didn’t bother double checking by changing video drivers or what have you, hehe.

Brightness bug back in Southsun Cove?

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but as many of us know, last year we had this “brightness bug” going where textures were overly bright in many places, and I was wondering if this is another one of those instances? In Southsun at the Lion Point wp, the tent seems overly bright to me. I mean, the merch is kind of disappearing at certain angles. It doesn’t seem as severe as it was back then, but I am unsure if this qualifies as another one of those bugs. Opinions?

CPU Fan going crazy when I play

Both AMD and Intel stock heatsinks can be noisy. You don’t state which CPU or what model, but even so, GW2 is very unforgiving on the CPU (and GPU if you set the settings high enough). Not surprised you get this in instances with lots of players, because it has to work hard under those conditions. Even if I set my graphics settings to low, my CPU is working at 60+%, I have an Core i5 6600k. (with aftermarket cooler though, so I avoid the noise).

Upgrading the GPU shouldn’t cause your FPS to drop even though the CPU could be a bottleneck. They would simply remain the same in that case. But an i7 3770k shouldn’t be a significant bottleneck for a 1070 anyway. Did you update to the latest drivers from nVidia?

I was getting some lengthy 300-400ms lag spikes yesterday, but disconnections only a couple of times and then I was only lounging in DR for a bit. But I guess not everyone is affected severely, but still affected in some way.

I enjoy the Jumping Puzzles!

There are a couple of those I despise with every fiber of my being. But I don’t put very much time into some aspects of the game because time is a bit limited for me. So when I am asked to come along on the more difficult JPs I totally fret, haha.

Running the game off a 500GB Samsung 850 EVO and everything is as fast as always here. I’m on a desktop computer though, not lappy. Even though that probably should not matter.

i am just here to rule out obvious problems.

850 evo has a much larger feature size than 840 evo. So, the problem should not happen

Ok, but OP has an 850 like I do. Not sure if I am misunderstanding you here tho, and you mean the SSD is not the cause of his slow loading times.

PSUs have a 10% leeway on the main rails. (for instance, the 12V rail is allowed to fluctuate between 12.6v max or 11.4v min). A rail will sag in voltage as a load is put on it. Only extremely costly and high quality PSUs will be able to even come close to keeping a rail completely stable. Also, reading voltages with software is often very unreliable. The mainboard sensors will often report a somewhat wrong voltage to the OS. It shouldn’t be fully trusted.

Yesterday my ping was averaging 70-80ms, today it’s averaging 450ms. Near the point of unplayability. Not sure what’s going on here now.

Edit: Seems to have normalized itself now. Had some 300+ms spikes now and then, but nothing in the past few hours.

Agreed, this sense does not make. That’s not how the TP works. If it did it the way you say, people with less gold than what an item is listed for would not be able to sell their things…

Mmmh. I always keep an updated (or as updated as possible) backup of GW2 on my external drive. For these kinds of occasions. That way I don’t have to waste time downloading it all again. Never noticed any difference either way.

Windows 10, GW2 shuts down computer randomly.

HaraldSkambank.7531

GW2 is heavy on both the CPU -and- the GPU. No other game I play heats them both up as much as GW2. During a period of time when I used to play on my lappy, which granted is crap, the temps used to peak at 94-95c, whereas in other games it hovered in the 80s. So yeah, check CPU temps. Even though it should just throttle the CPU when it heats up too much, it can also shut it down if temps run wild. Otherwise post your PSU brand/model. It could be either too weak, or if it’s old, maybe its capacity has diminshed to the point that it can’t deliver enough power and shuts down.

AMD? It says in the title he has an i7 (though not which model and clock frequency). I have an i5 6600k and GTX 970, playing at 1080p with settings at max and in most parts of the starter areas I get 60 FPS (i have vsync enabled though). I am assuming he means the starter areas when he says “trial zone”. Heck, just checked on my previous and ancient i7 860 rig w/Radeon HD6950 and it’s averaging 35-40 FPS just standing in the middle of Queensdale. So something is not right with OPs setup.

i7 1080gtx SSD Still bad performance?

I dunno about this CPU limitation. At least not in the cities. I ran a Pentium G3258 @ 4.4 GHz with a Radeon HD6950 and got about 20FPS in LA. When I got a new rig with an i5 6600k, I stuck the HD6950 in it while I was waiting for my new graphics card to arrive, and the frame rate remained exactly the same. When I put my new GTX 970 card in there, then the framerate increased by a factor of 2.5×.

GW2 laptop

If you are getting it for $500 used, I guess it’s a decent price. HP has a bad reputation, but so does Acer, which is the laptop I sometimes use to play GW2 when away from home (I normally use my desktop computer to play as I am not a proponent of laptop gaming tho). Everybody said Acer was crap, but the laptop is over 4 years old and still working. The only thing I ever had to fix was a key on the keyboard that came loose. Then again, if you can cough up some more cash, there are always better options as mentioned above that will run the game much smoother than what a computer with a GT940M might.

I have two desktop computers with nVidia cards. One runs a GTX 970 on Windows 10 and the other runs a GTX 460 on Windows 7. I just ran into the bright textures all over the hillside by the troll cave in Queensdale. So chalk up one (or two?) more occurences.
