Thanks for watching!
Differences between the builds are I use viper amulet, krait runes (zerker is another good choice), same sigils but I replace geomancy on mace to torment.
Ah, cool.
I’ve been trying it out today and I love it so far.
I took Wander’s instead of Viper’s but everything else was the same with Krait and Torment. Having great results. I love the synergy with the ‘stun breakers heal and Rage skills burn’ traits.
I might try Viper’s for the power boost to see how it works with the reduced armor.
It’s good people are working on a viable Condi-Warr for sPVP.
I need to try it out in WvW but it looks very promising.
Excellent video!
I see the build for WvW/SPVP but what about the SPVP runes and traits?
The build link is set for WvW gear.
in my opinion system is not broken because you win all the matches or you lose them, is broken because you can go afk and you still have the same result…on 50 matches i have played 5 close match over 500-400, all the others was a bloody bath, in 20 seconds you know that you have win, and if bad player are with you, you can even know before match start.
basically this sytem use the player mmr to force player in that range, your mmr have far more weight then your skill.
this season is: start the season, look at mmr, give prize, season end.
True.
I could have gone AFK and gotten the same results for most of the matches played.
And thank god this is over. Last season I’ve had my full of rookies in saphire and ruby
I made it through ruby just fine. You mention later on about blowing things out of proportion and I think you may be guilty of that here too.
I could care less if it continues or not, but the point that being beaten repeatedly by bad players makes you good is untrue.
Especially when you keep getting paired with bad players even if your skill level is beyond them but they bog you down anyway.
If bad teams fought other bad teams that would be more of a learning experience rather than losing the game 5 minutes into the match with far more experienced players.
The solution of good vs bad isn’t doing bad any favors.
I am an average player at best, but I play safe and don’t do any rookie mistakes.
I’ve been playing since launch.
That doesn’t mean crap if you are on a bad team.
This season through emerald I was rarely paired with a good team and it was struggle to move forward. Especially when you can see that the people don’t know what they are doing and don’t want to listen.
People tend to blow out of proportion the whole deal and while I do agree that some people genuinely had bad luck, most of them are probably bad players.
It always seems authentic when it’s coming out of our own mouth I guess.
Just keep in mind that your experiences aren’t universal.
(edited by Harmadda.5971)
Edit: actually I was thinking he may be using Trapper runes too but there’s definitely something obviously screwy going on at 1:25~
Just saw that.
Yeah that’s fishy.
You’re talking about learning….well you learn nothing from bad players ,
Which is why being paired with them doesn’t somehow lead to an epiphany, just more loses.
You learn from good players
Which is why I would imagine that many of the ‘bad’ players had a better experience in the previous matchmaking system.
They were paired with good players and they learned from the experience via Teamchat and observation.
You are really claiming the only way bad players can learn is if they keep getting beaten by good players while on a bad team and that’s not true.
Case and point, if someone is on a +75 losing streak from being on numerous bad teams while fighting good players how has that helped them 75 loses in?
It hasn’t.
They’ll just keep getting paired with bad teams wide-eyed and fresh from PVE.
There’s no magic point where 200 loses in all the baddies ‘get it’ at the same time and suddenly everyone on equal footing.
The people who benefit the most are the good teams paired together and moving ahead because of it so I can see how some would like things to remain as they are.
(edited by Harmadda.5971)
why don’t they ban idiots for AFKing base because we have a warrior in the team ?
: (
ROFLMAO!
Did that REALLY happen??
I see similar patterns in spvp as well:
Majority of players hate Skyhammer map, yet the developers have been forcing us to play that map in unranked. Outside seasons, you are forced to play unranked, so the reply “why don’t you just play unranked” doesn’t fix the issue.
Yes.
The June 23 trait rework patch + HoT expansion completely wrecked the balance and lead to massive power creep. Removal of amulets did not lead to richer meta, instead we got lots of valid builds deleted. The current meta can be described as follows: “burst first to win”. Almost every match is either a huge loss or huge win as the utterly broken meta + match making together lead to snow balling.
I think there’s nothing more to say.
This sums it at all up for the most part.
This matchmaking is just beyond ridiculous.
It’s like I’m also fighting the environment to get to the player fight.
I’m heading towards mine and I’m like:
“Please no chill or cripple, please no chill or cripple….”
Suddenly….chill or cripple.
Wait, is he teleporting in with the sword skill or just showing up there via an exploit?
(edited by Harmadda.5971)
good luck in Kenya!
Is that meant to be an insult with racist connotations?
?
Don’t mention a non-white country without expecting to be racist, silly. :P
Well I don’t get the Kenya reference.
You want to explain since you do?
(edited by Harmadda.5971)
Is this happening to anyone else?
You’re not anywhere NEAR the action and you get hit with cripple, chill or blind?
How about when you’re on your way to the fight and you are getting hit with conditions that must have a range of well over 2000 feet?
It’s annoying because it hinders the game and when you’re trying to get to a point and suddenly you are crippled it’s a real hindrance.
Or even worse, damage-chilled with health dropping and slowed and you have to remove the condition before you reach the fight.
That means you’re on cool-down before anything even begins.
They didn’t lie. They just failed to mention the vital “when struck” part. I thought it was fishy when they described it as an internal cooldown.
That’s what’s known as a ‘lie of omission’.
If you want to just skip the quest and go in, and have one of those “teleport to friend” tokens, or whatever they call them, you can group with someone who is in the region and use one. Won’t solve the persistent crashing, but at least you will have access to the region.
Heeeeeeey!
That’s a great temporary solution, thanks!
Third try on my Mesmer and it’s another crash.
I’m done.
Logging out.
Can’t keep wasting time with this.
:-(
This is killing me.
Okay, so I finish ‘Torn From the Sky’ and enter the Verdant Brinks to begin ‘Determine the Fate of the Pact Fleet’.
This is where I cross my fingers.
Constant crashes can have me doing this quest three or four times before I can get it done. Each time I am right back to the beginning. I cannot even avoid it and just explore the Brinks because I am stuck in quest mode until it’s done.
The constant crashes are a real hindrance to gameplay. It makes things repetitive or worse…you can lose rewards and achievements because the game suddenly crapped-the-bed and now you’re back at square one.
Anet…you have to do something about this because it’s making the game less fun and more of a chore. I’ve missed a number of rewards and achievements already and when I take a different character in to start the HoT quest I always worry that I’m going to be repeating the first quest at least twice before I can finally enter the place.
Mantras now recharge in the background, Now assuming you have the mantra trait and charge it at the start of the game it will be off cooldown when you start your first fight. That means over the next 35 seconds you will have 6 aoe instacast dazes. That’s without adding ontop of that, diversion and greatsword knockback. Potentially bringing your CC up to 8-10 across 35 seconds. If you run staff it has potential to go even higher. All of which can do a big amount of damage, give you a ton of boons and put a bunch of conditions out.
They have no counterplay because they’re instacast and they’re on such a low cooldown that you can often spam them to interrupt autoattacks and minor skills unintentionally just to get a ton of damage off due to traits.
You said it.
I got so tired of hearing that Mantra spam-casting sound non-stop during a match. It was almost like sonic-torture!
So glad they fixed this, and gave it an appropriate cool down. I almost felt like I had to run mantras just to have an equal fight against other Mesmers who were just using them as an iWin button. I felt guilty using it though and just stopped. It was just so cheap.
Stunning someone down to 10% health isn’t what I consider an actual fight or challenge.
Sure, let’s start:
1) Revenant has no way to negate being focused. Even with the current support trait lines, you die instantly to focus fire.
2) Everything is super slow and has a big wind-up. Getting a skill off without being interrupted is a miracle. You’re currently forced into builds with stability since you won’t even be able to heal yourself without it.
3) Damage and condi application are way too low. The only way to defeat someone is to put their condis back on them — something that’s very unreliable due to the short range.
4) There’s no synergy between trait lines. With every other class, you can pick any 3 trait lines and they will have synergy. Revenant needs a big rework to create synergy and actual builds.
5) Revenant mobility is also non-existent. Keeping someone in a fight, or running from a fight is just not going to happen. Revenant needs a CC/snare, pull, or more reliable teleport. The only way to follow someone is axe #4 which misses too often.
6) I’d like to see Rite of the Great Dwarf get tuned to provide stability while cast given that it’s supposed to be a stunbreak. The 2.75s cast time guarantees you will never finish casting in pvp. Adding partial damage mitigation while channeling (bonus toughness like mantras?) would make it so you don’t die in the 3 seconds you take to cast it. You’re basically a free kill/target dummy while trying to cast the ability in its current state.
^ Succinct and accurate.
Prepared to be flamed by countless Mesmers who will defend their class even in the face of both objective and subjective reality….incoming!!!!!
I play a Mesmer.
He’s right, it’s almost too easy to condi-bomb whole groups to death.
At first it was interesting when I stumbled across the build but the novelty wore off fast and it just leaves me feeling a bit guilty.
So yeah, other Mesmers might not want to admit it, but it’s on e-z mode for us right now.
t was OP I must agree I wrecked every single class in pVP and WVW but come on it made it kind of boring.
You wrecked every single class in pvp and wvw….WITH NEEDLE TRAPS?!
Needle is the only actual condition trap and you’re telling me everything you were doing depending on the Needle trap?
You must seriously be exaggerating.
I used traps on my Thief and they didn’t outright destroy anyone.
Needle trap is not an iWin button.
Besides, Needle Trap can now add vulnerability (increasing condition damage/basic damage by %5) AND might (increasing condition damage to 150).
Needle trap is actually a lot better than it used to be.
no, it is not good neither in pvp nor in www.
Man I was struggling with the old Condi/Krait Rune build.
It was awful. It just stank in PVP and it used to be so kick butt.
I eventually came up with something that functions as a Condi Thief but I had to experiment a bit and deviate from the old meta. It is still efficient and I kind of enjopy it a bit more than the old build.
Okay this is definitely a bug or glitch and I just want to report it.
The entire game is sped up to an unbelievable speed.
I’m zipping across the map in the blink of an eye.
If I stand still I am constantly vibrating as if the character animations are happening all at once.
I asked in Map chat if anyone else was experiencing this and at least one other person said they were.
I feel like the Flash.
Same. Just started getting severe lag all month. This is new and has never happened up until this point. I even have a brand new faster computer. It’s mostly in PVP it seems. Everything else seems fine.
This has been happening a lot lately for some reason but what’s really bad is we just finished the fight and I got kicked RIGHT AT THE CHEST.
I was right there. Right by it.
When I log back in, I’m just screwed out of my reward.
These occasional drops during a world boss fight never used to happen but now it’s almost a regular and dreaded event. The last one I just did was like salt in the wound because it was right at the very end and I got no reward.
Not cool. Not cool at all.
Since I’m having that problem after switching to my Necro I can assume it’s still not fixed.
Noticed it in ranked PVP. Golem just standing there looking stupid. Well, I’ll try the ‘full stop before attack’ temporary solution but it’s really a handicap.
This might be a long shot – but open Activity Monitor and see if there is an instance of GW2 already running and force quit it.
I wouldn’t call that a longshot, I’d call it a bullseye.
Worked for me, too. Good job!
DDoS. It’s been going on for a while and talked about on this forum.
It’s not Anet.
Apparently the guy responsible is also bragging about shutting down multiple online games on Twitter. It seems to be true to an extent because other games are also experiencing similar problems.
Confirming OP’s traceroute, also from Phoenix AZ via Cox internet:
How do you guys pull out that information?
I wish I understood the opening post. It seems like it would make sense.
@Raonjena.9732
Well – 2 million angry nerds spamming the login( to New zone) is essentially an organized DDoS..
Those are costumers, and that problem should have been easily foreseeable when planning to implement new content to a game. I find it hard to believe that they would create new content and items for purchase and not expect people to check them out.
From what people are saying this is a DDoS attack, and may have nothing to do with the players OR Anet.

Hey, not to cut you off but there is a section that is dedicated to Mac support
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac
Hopefully you can find your answers in there and beable to play, as I have no experience with Mac OS I cannot help, I think the Mac client is still in Beta also.
Thanks for your reply!
You didn’t cut me off, I was done with the post.
Yes it is still in Beta. From what I understand though, it’s the Windows client run through Cider as a wrapper. Not really too sure what ‘Beta’ actually means now in that context and at this point.
Anyway, I assumed that Arenanet isn’t just letting it’s costumers fly in the wind and hopefully have solutions for Mac Beta problems and it looks like they have some but I am in the wrong place.
I’ll pop over and see what suggestions they have to help me and mark this post as having answered my question.
(edited by Harmadda.5971)
Hi, before I started I want to say two things if anyone should decide to interact with me that will hopefully get a lot of questions out of the way and have us focus on the issue faster.
- I am running this game on a Mac.
- I have taken the suggestion of reinstalling the game as a repair option before starting this thread. It didn’t work.
- I have pretty excellent high speed internet and connection via Fios. Recent speedtest has me at about 70mbps download, 50-mbps upload. I have had no one other than my wife and I using it but when I am on it she is not since we share this computer. It’s always been top notch speed and has given me zero problems since installation.
- MAC SPECS: Bought in 2012 – Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 – Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 – Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB – OS 10.7.5
PROBLEMS:
This game was running rather smoothly up until recently. After the last few events it has since been acting completely wonky and weird. I’m not sure these updates and fun additions are the cause, but whatever is happening started around the time that they recently began. After some of those downloads the game initiated finished, I started to notice that my game play was changing for the worst.
Some of the random problems include:
- Invisible character that eventually becomes visible after a minute or two.
- Invisible character stuck at Waypoint and unable to move for at least two minutes.
- Invisible action bar, bag items, character menu, invisible gathering nodes, etc that remain that way for at least two minutes.
- WVW team switching from looking like the enemy in generic armor with out colors, then back to the unique looks they should have. Sometimes there is a mix of generic armor teammates and teammates that look like they are on our team.
- Sudden EXTREME lag that renders the game unplayable in WvW and PvE
- Areas with invisible sections of the map that make the who map look like it’s floating on nothing. Picture the Hallelujah mountains in the movie Avatar. That’s how any area can look to me when I enter it. I have to guess that I am not actually going to fall into oblivion when I start running across the map.
- Sometimes I am pressing the bottom to perform an action that doesn’t seem to take place or happen.
This has been going on for months. I should have said something sooner but I tried to fix it myself via the suggestions I found here, and I had hoped that it would go away but it has not. If there is anything you can do to help me resolve this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
(edited by Harmadda.5971)
Getting the same problem. Glad I am not alone and I HOPE that this doesn’t suddenly go through because I tried 3 times already and got the same error.
I hope the transaction ended there.
hmmm…never noticed them in the game before.
I’ll have to keep an eye out.
Quaggans are definitely the best race introduced in GW2 so I would hope they become playable in the expansion.
Quaggans??!
Those pudgy little sea-cow beavers?
LOL…no thanks.
How about those Polar bear or Bird people?
They look cool as hell.
Anyone from Devona that stood in that area is invincible.
They just need to pull back the radius on that buff and that would stop the cheaters from running back there and camping.
Has this already been fixed?
I noticed five Dev’s running back to the mountain again today for the immunity buff but they didn’t seem to have protection unless they were on top of it.
Maybe they were in the wrong spot or something though, but we did kill them back there.
-H
(edited by Harmadda.5971)
I also want to point out that although the guild using this exploit is “Baltimore Style”, I am not singling them out specifically as plenty of Devona’s were using this exploit to seize the zone over and over.
It happens TOO often and is quite annoying and unfair.
I agree, I don’t think it should be removed.
I do however think it should be adjusted to not have such a long range.
Clearly and oversight, but an exploitable one nonetheless.
How often has this happened to you?
You are in WvW on a server that is outnumbered by the other two you fight against. You work hard to take Greenvale supply camp against those odds and after you capture it you find the enemy Devona players camped in back of the supply camp.
You cannot harm them. They can harm you.
You don’t have many options.
The Devona team taunts you as they plan to either:
A. Wait for the backup they called to come and flank you from behind.
B. Wait for you to get tired and leave, so they can quickly retake the camp.
Either way, you quickly lose the camp.
The problem of course is the fact that on that particular map the Devona spawn zone is right next to Greenvale. The immunity buff which grants them invulnerability stretch into the back of Greenvale for some reason.
Here is an example of a Guild using the exploit after we (the always outnumbered) took over Greenvale. Note that I am aware I cannot harm the players, although the people around me obviously were unaware.
This in my opinion really cheapens the game. It’s a very underhanded tactic that was not intended for WvW. It’s also very frustrating for the players who actually do utilize skill and patience in order to win a zone.
They even mock you while cheating.
- H
(edited by Harmadda.5971)
I’ll give you a visual example.
Here is a guild from the Devona side using the exploit to keep safe while camping in our recently won Greenvale Refuge. It’s bad enough that are side is outnumbered by the other two but even worse when the people who outnumber us use cheats/exploits to get ahead.
They come to the back mountainside and camp to either wait for support or till we leave.
During that time they are completely invulnerable due to the proximity of their spawn point and the fact that the invulnerability buff apparently extends INTO the back mountainside of Greenvale.
This is giving Devona the edge in holding key positions and there is no shortage of players or guilds that are not using this tactic however unfair. That’s not even mentioning the fact that a range can sit back and try and kill you without worry.
If further proof is needed of specific guilds I have video.
I think this cheapens the game, and provides too much of an advantage for the very poor players who cannot utilize skill to capture a specific point and need to cheat to a victory.
Please fix this.

(edited by Harmadda.5971)
No friends or family have been using your account either?
That is very odd.
Not sure what to say other than it sucks.
So you have no idea how it could have possibly happened?
None at all?
logged on to find all my gold and gear gone on all my characters.—well it was fun while it lasted
How?
How do you guys get hacked?
I have never been hacked in my entire online gaming history.
So how did they get you?
Be honest.
I’am always lonesome. Where has everyone gone?
I was there my son.
Did you not see the footprints in the sand?
When you saw only one set of tracks, that was when I was carrying you.

On Friday at noon PST (3:00 EST) the event kicks off in Lion’s Arch with an event that “you don’t want to miss”. Does Anet understand that there are a lot of players who are still in school?
Does Anet understand that there are a lot of players who are still in school?
What time does school let out?
From what I remember it was around 3:00pm.
I get off work at 5:00pm
What’s the problem with this exactly?
The event doesn’t end in a few hours.
What exactly are you going to miss?
The chance to say “first”?
It IS a render issue. Being good or bad has nothing to do with appearing 2 seconds after the stealth has ended.
It’s funny how it’s never the mechanics of the game.
It’s always just ‘bad players’ to those exploiting them.
Dying in 2-3 seconds without a chance to react…how does a ‘good player’ counter that?
The nerf is coming one way or another.
I think it certainly should.
Interesting build.
I’m going to try it now and see how it goes!
