People don’t miss the Trinity. They miss “teamwork”. You know, the second M in MMO.
GW2 is a single player game with other people who come in randomly.
LOL, how hugely ironic!
You NEED teamwork in this game moreso than any other to succeed in dungeons
….
HoTW – Butcher/Plunder both insanely easy (though they have a sizeable chunk of hp)
…..
They changed this recently. They made this path challenging now =)
ANYONE who says “dungeons are just fine” are full of it. The dungeons are absurd, and I’m now at the point of telling EVERYONE DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. Dungeons are not fun anymore, and now only exclusionary groups are running them, thus if your class and traits are not perfect, combined with all yellows, and level 80’s do not attempt it. I don’t care as a player, if people speed farm, normal players cannot complete these, nor do they devote their lives to complete them. Evading attacks is irrelivant when the mobs are faster, spam skills faster, massive AOE’s, and deal enough damage to 2 shot you. You might think you have my money, but what you lose are any costs related to GEM’s. Eventually this will affect your bottom line, and I know I’m not alone here.
You dont need to be hardcore bro. If you want, ill add you along to my dungeon group and I can show you how they are done =). At the moment, AC EM is farm mode, and I not longer have to bring my mace / shield vit build, but can go full greatsword DPS build
Some general, overall, tips:
1) Always revive DOWNED players if possible, leave the DEAD players alone.
2) Bring at least 1 stun break ability and 1 condition removal ability. You can swap these out depending on the fight though
3) Dont watch your skill bar, watch whats happening on screen. (I find this hard for most players, even myself, as this was trained and ingrained in us my most other MMOs. You need to be aware of your surroundings) All bosses and trash mobs have a tell or animation that precedes most hard hitting and 1-shot abilities, and you need to keep an eye out for this.
4) Conserve dodge when possible. Dont use it unless in cases of #3
Let me know if your interested =). Ill get you your AC exotics and it will be fun to boot
I found to be more effective to kill ads asap and hit the boss when alone.
Very fun fight, agreed.
Is there a delay when they respawn again?
We tried killing them, but they would just come back
If you want to know, I ran most EM dungeons with level 70-75 Blues and greens. I still have 1 item, my shoulders that are still level 73 blue (the rest I have filled out with dungeon exotics)
But before I filled out my gear with dungeon exotics, I ran those dungeons with blues and greens and I did fine after learning the fights (which took only 1-2 runs)
The only difference now with my exotics is that I hit and survive MAYBE slightly better. Example: AC EM Kholer used to 1-shot me, now when I get pulled, he still 1 shots me, but takes 2 hits instead 1 from his spin attack, and that first spin hit does 90% of my HP. As well, I MAYBE do 3-5% more DPS.
Those are not huge differences at all. If this were WoW, going from dungeon blues to current raid purples would have made a MAJOR difference. Here, they dont really do much at all.
Heres a side story: I remember the day when I first did AC EM and ran into Kholer. I remember us wiping over and over again constantly and thinking that this boss was a little too hard.
Fast forward a month later today, and now, even with pugs, this boss is a huge joke. Hell, all of AC EM now I can do without thinking cause I have learned the tactics, what skills to bring, and how to dodge / move when needed. I can now take my glass cannon greatsword build and breeze through all paths because the tactics of this dungeon are now second nature to me.
Anyone who runs HotW notice that the caster boss (cant remember the name), the 2nd to last one in the butcher path, been updated?
Before, this boss used to be one of the braindead bosses where you could mostly stand and spam DPS…
Only difference now is the adds that spawn with him that need to be kited around (no point killing them, as they get replaced the moment they die)
I love it now =). The fight went from easy and boring (due to his massive HP pool) to now challenging and fun. They added the adds, but reduced the HP of the boss
the lack of trinity is a breath of fresh air. Keeps the fight interesting, keeps you engaged in the combat. Makes you think, makes you want to improve your build. There are many melee friendly bosses and many ranged friendly bosses. The fact that you can swap to ranged during fights in order to heal up is awesome.
Complaining about drops…that’s the most awful thing ever dungeon rewards are tokens, learning dungeon mechanics is its own reward.
Tokens are nice too =).
Been running AC and HotW most of the time, already have 4 pieces of the HotW gear, 1 AC EM headpiece gear, saving the rest for the cool ghostly looking sword from AC EM.
Also, looks like the tweaked HotW butcher path just the other day. 2nd to last boss used to be a cake walk… one of the few bosses where you could just mainly stand and spam DPS… now they made the fight interesting =)
Wow, there is so much fail in this post, mainly from the OP and others.
You do realize that to succeed in these dungeons, you will NEED to unlearn what you learned in other MMOs. Yes, we would like something familiar, but this is not WoW, this is not Rift, this is not SW:TOR.
I myself fell into the same rut when I first started dungeons, but now I can pass them all with ease, whether with my normal guild group, or with pugs.
You know what is awesome about these dungeons now? You have to use brain power to pass them now =). No more standing still mostly. You have to constantly be moving, and every fight requires planning, skill, and tactics.
OP, tell me a boss or bosses your failing at, and I will tell you how to pass them with no deaths =)
It has nothing to do with one spot.
It has to do with how many events you do in a set amount of time.If you keep doing events, it does not matter if you change zones or logout now the DR will hit you if you do to many in a set amount time.
Orr events give 378 karma and with the DR in full effect they give 19 karma.
Guess I’m find another mmo to play as this one has went down the kitten quick and I won’t play an mmo that goes against it’s core game design and end-game mechanics.
Anet is really failing it’s players at this point.
Wait, the core game design was to farm Karma? And also, this was its end-game mechanic?
Crap, I have been playing the game all wrong all this time then! Doing dungeons, followed by some sPvP, followed by doing some exploring… apparently, none of this is the core game nor what I should be doing end-game.
@Player.9621
the excuse of these being ‘hacked’ accounts is total rubbish
its too bad for them and the problem is live in game.
just like the gold sellers they are always there and never go away.
i do find irony that they banned so many for their mistake with the karma wep pricing, yet they let these clowns run free for weeks, and implement DR which punishes us all.
go figure
Unfortunately, its not rubbish. I can say that almost 100% of all bots, gold spammers, etc. are from hacked accounts. While I am not a GM for ANet, as a previous employee of Activision Blizzard, and working as an In-Game Customer Support (i.e. Game Master) for little over 2 years, every one of those botters or spammers we would come across from a report in WoW was a legitimate player’s account that was stolen.
As well, if you look into the logistics of it, why, as a gold selling company (yes, they are legitimate companies that utilize illegitimate means), why would I spend $60 per account when I know that they will eventually close it.. I would have to make a huge gold profit margin to offset the cost of continually purchasing new accounts.
But if I decide to just use stolen accounts, there is no margin needed. Even if I get $10 in sold gold that is stolen, its still a profit for me.
As long as there is a market of players out there who will purchase gold, then they will continue to have an incentive to steal accounts. And its not hard at all to steal anyone’s account really.
Between social engineering, simple keylogging, and mostly just utilizing passwords that you use on 3rd party sites, they are able to get into player’s accounts with ease. Gold sellers already know that a good majority of human beings use the same password for everything. If your on your 3rd party guild site, and you have to login there, all they need to do is just get the password lists from that site. There was a study that found, I think, around 80-85% of people who use a password to login to “Joe’s Guild Website”, are using that very same password to login to their favorite games.
The rest can be caught with fake emails, and a very small amount are caught with keyloggers.
Hey, as long as you have a market for players to want to buy gold, then they will be here to stay.
And honestly, I would be more harsh to the player who purchases said gold, then to the botters and spammers really. Whats the point punishing the people who really could care less (and to them, its a job). I would rather go after the players who perpetuate this and keep these gold sellers in business
You have never done Software Development, have you
Development has to be done before release.
Don’t need to be a software developer to know that.
Duh, but I am responding to his notion that all software bugs should be tested and removed prior to release. This is not possible!
From http://www.ece.cmu.edu/~koopman/des_s99/sw_testing/
Software bugs will almost always exist in any software module with moderate size: not because programmers are careless or irresponsible, but because the complexity of software is generally intractable — and humans have only limited ability to manage complexity. It is also true that for any complex systems, design defects can never be completely ruled out.
Discovering the design defects in software, is equally difficult, for the same reason of complexity. Because software and any digital systems are not continuous, testing boundary values are not sufficient to guarantee correctness. All the possible values need to be tested and verified, but complete testing is in-feasible. Exhaustively testing a simple program to add only two integer inputs of 32-bits (yielding 2^64 distinct test cases) would take hundreds of years, even if tests were performed at a rate of thousands per second. Obviously, for a realistic software module, the complexity can be far beyond the example mentioned here. If inputs from the real world are involved, the problem will get worse, because timing and unpredictable environmental effects and human interactions are all possible input parameters under consideration.
Congrats on the Bug Fixes which are Mandatory! YAY :P im sure someone will see my humor
Haha very good! :P
Also to people who say “thanks”, I mean really? All of these updates are things which should have been thoroughly tested BEFORE the game was released. The huge amount of event and skill challenge fixes every update and too many story mode missions to remember, it’s ridiculous, these are the main aspects of this game! Saying “thanks” for something that shouldn’t need doing is slightly silly really.
You have never done Software Development, have you
My post concerning DR was deleted because I wasn’t considered respectful enough and I demanded an answer from the company. In this post I am attempting to rewrite my concerns according to the forum rules.
You can request an answer, but unless your one of ANet’s executives, investors, or stock-holders, you dont really get to ‘demand’. Being a customer does not give you a right to ‘demand’ from any company.
Same reason I cant ‘demand’ from my car dealership that they sell me that car for 20% of the price. I can request they drop the price, and I have the freedom to not buy from them and go elsewhere. But if I buy the car, and later find out that I really wanted something else, I can ‘request’ possible trades, but I cant ‘demand’..
I am hurt and confused regarding the silent DR changes that went into this patch. Arenanet is clearing telling us how they do not want us to play, but has not explained why, nor offered a viable alternative. With the current DR things simply take longer. I’ve already poured every free minute I have into this game towards reaching the lofty legendary goal while juggling this with a “full time life”, but it wasn’t enough.
I dont understand this. I do EM dungeons all the time, and finish within 35 mins most runs. I never hit the DR, so unless your clearing them too quickly by bypassing content, I can see why they would implement this (which they mentioned that the DR was 30 mins I believe)
I strongly believe the community deserves communication on this matter. Ultimately we have to accept Arenanet’s decision, and we may choose to stop supporting the game if we decide this decision does not align with what we want from the game. But no matter how this plays out, it would make everyone much happier if we could hear something back.
You seem to figure it out here anyway =).
I’m posting in this thread because my primary area of concern is that this major change was not in the patch notes and there is no sign of communication on the matter thus far from the company. While I’m thrilled about several of the bug fixes (notably dungeon token rewards and account bound item changes), I find it to be the worst patch thus far due to the aforementioned problems.
Fixed a bug in dungeon speed-clearing code. Players should no longer experience reward reductions without triggering the speed-clearing debuff.
This was in the patch notes. And if I had a desire too, I could probably find their posts about what DR is supposed to do as well (It was all in the dungeon forums). Hence why I knew about the 30 min timer.
Thanks guys! Great info =)
@Saber
Oh yeah, forgot about DST. Thanks!

You do realize that there are some fights in CM EM where its actually part of the dungeon that you sneak past and skip certain trash mobs. In fact, unless you want to enjoy many deaths, trying to engage the trash mobs (talking about the pit fighters under ground where there are 10+ elites mobs in a circle, and pulling 1 pulls all of them) is suicide.
In fact, there is a convenient path to the side that part of the story of the EM path tells you to run past them.
Hello everyone,
Just yesterday, tried CoE explore mode for the first time, and we got stuck on the event where you have to activate the Security console several times.
Well, we kinda ran in there and just did whatever not thinking this was a boss event, and ended up spawning a whole mess of golems. Ran into 2 problems, and ended up not passing it. Any thoughts on…
1) Any successful plans that others have used to successfully complete this event? We figured out halfway through that likely we would need 3 kiters for the elite golems, 1 protector to kill the bomber golems near the 1 player doing the activating. But by then, it was a mess.
2) Once we figured out our plan, we tried to reset the event, and it will not reset. Is this a bug? Or is it intended that once you start the event, you cant reset it? (At one point, we all died on purpose and then respawned together in the hopes of resetting it, but nope, the event still kept going)
Any thoughts or stories on how you got past this?

(hate when the forums goof up and cant reply..)
@plasmacutter
The reason I mentioned him is because, out of all the bosses in dungeons that I have seen, he has the LONGEST windup cast animation (somewhere along 2 – 2.5 seconds, way more than enough time)
I do understand about the adds, but you shouldnt be so focused on them that you ignore the boss. The room is round and big enough that you can keep him in your sights at all times. I never have a problem with the camera. And FYI: When you first enter the room, he will immediately cast his harpoon attack as his first action, so I use that to show new players what it looks like.
Hes stupidly easy though, and his move is hugely telegraphed.
Click here to see a 3-man clear of AC EM. You can watch how they react to when he telegraphs (that poor mesmer kept getting caught though LOL). And this is a perfect video as it shows how you have to change your skills up for the fights. (Notice how the Guardian swaps out his skills to give him Wall of Reflection, which does block the harpoon, his stability skill to break out of a possible pull, and his “Retreat!” skill, which provides Aegis, which also blocks his harpoon)
Personally, I stopped doing dungeons because most people I ran into while doing them were dbags. The dungeons are like an antithesis to the rest of the game. You get kicked for watching cutscenes, people leave if they die and to make things worse, without a dungeon finder tool, you spent 30+ minutes just hanging out in a particular zone spamming /map to find a group.
I agree! They state that their design goals is for the game to be fun moment to moment. No waiting around to have fun. Unfourtantely dungeons couldn’t be further from that. A lot of the dungeon design “undoes” the visceral nature of combat because very often the “best” way to do something is to run past it or cheese it somehow.
This is generally because bosses/champion type mobs don’t “broadcast” their power moves well enough to bring a great deal of skill into dungeon play, and I additionally find a great deal of abilities which should be avoidable in theory will fly out so fast you don’t really get a chance to dodge them.
Stupidity should be punished, surely, but people need the chance to react to what’s being thrown at them.
Please give me a boss that doesnt telegraph their moves..
(You better not tell me Lt. Kholer from AC EM)
….Just try ac explore mode with all clothies and see how well things go….
Already done multiple times now, and last time was one of the smoothest groups!
Clothies really have no difference than Heavies, depending on your traits and skills.
Have you seen a Water or Earth attuned Ele before? Specially when they trait into toughness and vit? BAM instant tank! Heck, thats all I start to see now in 5v5s
ANet said multiple times, before the game was release, just what they thought about dungeons. They want them to be challenging content for a group of players that is willing to communicate among themselves. That does not mean using vent as it can easily be accomplished with the in game chat.
If you don’t want to communicate and expect everything to go smoothly, then that’s your fault. Try actually getting better at the game instead of QQing on the forums. A full Arah clear nets me 1.5s in repairs because I communicate with my group, mark targets to be focused down, and I don’t just go in with the highest DPS spec/gear makeup.
The majority of the pugs I’ve joined go like this: Group of 5 mobs agros > Everyone picks random mob to solo because they’re bamf’s > Group proceeds to wipe > After rezzing I start marking targets to be focused down > Mobs die, players live, dungeon complete.
I like how you assume that this is what this entire thread is about. Or that everyone plays like this pug you describe.
Gratz on your arah farming, thanks for lack of any constructive input, bye
No, he knew what the thread was about: Players who cant handle a little challenge
As he said.
12:00 GMT for me means 6:00pm CST. And I notice this too, around 6pm in the evening, the dailies I finished start counting again.
If your in the United States / Canada, 12:00 GMT means anywhere from 4pm PST to 7pm EST (West coast to East coast), so judging where you are at, your talking a day is from late afternoon / early evening to late afternoon / early evening tomorrow.
Judging from your 1st post OP, you mention you did a dungeon late last night, had fun with the lady, went to bed, woke up, and ran a dungeon at or around 12 noon…
Using the time zone calculations above, both runs are actually in the same day. You will likely not see it reset until you run the dungeon again later tonight
Okay, would anyone who has finished this dungeon on Isle of Janthir run me through it?
Ive run through it before, and I am on Isle of Janthur.
Ill help you through it
+1 for the OP, I agree
Things need to change and soon. They need to revamp WvW and dungeons.
I offer the same to you friend, on one condition… Drop the attitude please.
Come with my group, and we will show you how you play a dungeon with 0 deaths
Mohebius.4287
If you want, me and my dungeon running group can add you into our runs perhaps and show you how to do AC EM, any path. We have this dungeon in particular down to a science, and we can teach you how =)
I understand restrictions for rewards, but not for content. I also want harder dungeons. That said I’m all for two difficulties.
Easier mode would allow most of people experience dungeons and prepare for harder mode.
Harder mode should be based on easier mode but include more durable, more skillful and more hard-hitting enemies and prevent graveyard zerging.
I understand what you mean, but technically there is no restrictions really for content. The same content you see in story mode, you see in Explore mode mostly. If players want to see what the dungeon’s look like, Story mode is fine.
Add me: HellHound.5480!
What your describing is basically support. Your supporting your mates by stacking Might, and stacking conditions on the boss.
I found out support is not just about healing, but doing things that keep my mates from dying. If its just me doing walls of reflection, shielding, and spamming boons on my mates, thats what supporting is =)
One of my friends, who is just now getting into Explore dungeons at level 46 made a comment how when he went to go buy the non-exotic gear, how it looks generic to all other gear.
He mentioned that while they shouldnt look too amazing compared to the exotic gear, it would be nice to have them have a unique look, similiar to perhaps their exotic counterparts, but less flashy.
I actually kinda agree, cause with the current non-exotic dungeon gear, there is no reason to purchase it really
Inci, I don’t need help doing dungeons (I love them) but always need people who know what they are doing. Is it OK if I add you as a friend so we can run some?:)
Count me in as well, I love doing explorables! Specially now that they have level 80 exotics for AC! =)
….I know while doing normal leveling up I’d see skills that would turn boons into conditions on enemies or vice versa on allies and I’m like, when the heck would I ever need that garbage. Here’s your answer…..
Definitely wanted to comment on this part Draknar!
I remember when I saw the skill Wall of Reflection, tried it once, and said to myself “What a useless skill, when will I ever need this?!?”.
Until I ran CM EM dungeons, and saw the beauty of this skill. I mean seriously, in that dungeon with alot of ranged elites, this skill is OP!
You literally have to look over your skill in depth. And you have to think outside the MMO box before they become “Ooohhh!” moments.
@OP
I find that the more you have played previous MMOs, the harder the curve it is to learn these dungeons.
As others have stated, they are difficult, and you need to wrap your brain around a bit. For you, as a 12 year MMO veteran, you have ALOT to unlearn so you can learn
I’m playing a guardian with power, toughness and vit build. I have a couple accessories that gives healing too. As for my traits im running symbols build, which allows me to have larger and healing symbols. Not sure what traits/build my friends are running but even I get wiped in 2 hits by those knights.
I play a guardian as well, and what works for me is shouts. One of the skills I always have on me is “Hold the Line” for the Protection and Regen. Another one that I like is “Retreat!” for the Aegis. I then trait my skills for shouts + various effects when Aegis drops or applied.
What is nice about shouts is that they are instant cast, and can be used regardless if you are stunned, KDed, etc.
Protection boon is your best friend though. 33% reduced damaged is nothing to sniff at.
Going by our AC EM farm group (just hit 500 tokens yesterday!), I usually do a power, vitality, virtue (+X% boon duration is huge) build (30, 20, 20), then stat toughness items for the extra bit of armor, running a Greatsword / Mace + Shield combo. I found this is a good general dungeon build.
For example, I will rotate my skills depending on the fights in that dungeon:
Spider Queen – I use “Hold the Line!”, Smite Condition, Purging Flames (2 low CD condition removals + the prot / regen shout)
Kholer – I switch to “Retreat!”, “Stand your Ground!”, Consecration while using my Courage virtue (this gives me mutiple, on demand Aegis / Stability for when he is powering up for his harpoon pull, as both boons will negate it)
Hope that helps =)
The Dungeons are Not Difficult - They are Mechanically Flawed - Here's Why...

I give up. This thread is a shining example of “you cant patch stupid”.
I know EXACTLY what you mean.
Let them kitten and moan, they will either give up and then learn to play, or they will keep bashing their heads on the wall.
You try to educate them (I read your reply to the OP), but they refuse to learn. They still dont think its them, but that its the “game”
I just get frustrated because this is the state of gamers nowadays =(. Its sad
The Dungeons are Not Difficult - They are Mechanically Flawed - Here's Why...
Posted by: HellHound.5480
Um, I understand what you are saying Urrelles, but im going to use your post here to show you exactly what Ruien is mentioning about players not paying attention (you do it several times in your post alone).
There is a difference between “Hand Holding” and “Educating”. Lets go…
Did no one actually read the original post and soak in what he said? He doesn’t think dungeons are hard. Mobs are not killing him. He’s not using the roles of tank, healer, damage.
He is saying the programming (which I also said) sucks in dungeons and completely negates everything the game promotes. It forces you down one path of skill sets.
People want to chose their own role and enter a dungeon and contribute. Not respec everytime they want to run a dungeon into a different holy trinity of Ranged Damage, ranged CC, ranged Support.
If you want to use all ranged, go at it. You do want to work best on what works for you and your group. But I can 100% melee EM dungeons right now, and as long as I pay attention, slot the skills for the particular fight, and learn when to back up, I havent had any issue.
You dont need to respec traits, nor do you have to bring all ranged, but you do have to pay attention to your skills, what they do, and be prepared for fights. Example: AC EM. Spider Queen needs 1-2 condition removals, followed by stun breaks / stability for the trash pull with the 2 Scavangers, followed by aegis / protection for Kholer.. Learn to use those skills. I love ANet for this, as they dont let me waste all but 3 of my skills.
Another Example: Hell, Wall of Reflection is one amazing ability… that really has no use out in the normal PvE world, but is freakin amazing for CM EM!
Someone mentioned stacks of stability. Where the hell is the interface that shows these stacks or even explains them.
Let me stop you right here. This is #1 on your “player does not pay attention” issue.
I found out by the stability effect bosses have. How??? It plainly has it listed under his name, on one of the boss flags (next to the silver one). Highlight it, and it tells you what it is, and what it does. Not only that, it tells you in plain english that you need to remove the stacks (which you can also see) to allow him to be CCed.
If this is a general thing that all bosses do, then shouldn’t it be stated.
See above. Just because your not paying attention is not the devs fault
I mean other MMOs state that there is an aggro system and they place in their move descriptions ways to draw aggro. This game has stability stacking and doesn’t explain in any way at all. When I PvP, I don’t have to peel a layer of multiple stabilities before I can snare the player. In Open World, I don’t peel off stability stacks on veteran mobs.
Players, and normal mobs are no bosses
I look at a bosses HP bar and I see:
Name
Health
Special Description
Debuffs and Buffs
If there is an icon for stability stacking how the hell would I know. Id have to hover the mouse over it to read the description, which means I am standing there dying form AE effects.
Doesnt take long to hover and read it. And I dont mean to make you look like a fool, but again, you can see it plainly
People keep trying to support this trash system yet more and more of the player base is coming here giving dungeons a negative review. The system is jacked up! From rewards, to enemy stats, to programming. It is all jacked up, and something needs to be fixed and brought in line with the REST OF THE GAME. These dungeons feel like they were ripped straight from another game and reskinned to look like GW2.
Can you give a more descriptive example of what you mean by jacked up? About enemy programing? (The enemies in this game are like a PvP group… they will switch and focus fire players. They are smart about it)
I think the only thing I can partially agree on is that, yes, I would like to see chests spawn at minimum green or yellow items (with like a 10% chance of getting an exotic maybe) to up the rewards just a tiny bit (I dont think blues or whites should be in EM dungeon chests)
But everything else is all blind rage, like most of these players.
Anet provided you with the tools to figure out stuff on your own, but not mommy you and hand-hold you through everything.
Makes me wonder why you all would have functioned in the old gaming days. Imagine have someone hand hold you through explaining Mario, or X-man 2, or Doom (not easy mode Doom), or Quake (imagine them giving you an ingame tutorial on how to rocket jump), or EQ1, etc..
I havent really noticed that, though it could be that me (guardian) and the warrior in my group do rotate group Aegis and stability alot, so were blocking them to see it. Were always melee, me and him, while the others are ranged.
Thanks though Hobo, will have to check it out sometime if their leap KD is AoE based.
I guess you should have someone with a ranged interrupt, or someone with a melee interrupt and stability to help save you if you get caught.
Isn’t that what teamwork is about?
Though I do think that one graveling scavenger being able to pin multiple people down by themselves could be done away with.
I havent seen any do it back to back. Now I have seen multiple ones stagger their leaps to chain stun 1 player, but as I mentioned above, none so far where a single one can chain cast it.
Its their only 1-shot ability too really. If they get you on the ground, you want to get back up immediately.
Also, the Stalkers have a Leap ability (cant recall for some reason) that doesnt KD you, but does hit like a truck. You want Protection boon or Aegis when fighting those
Afaik all classes have some form of stability, some even have group based ones (Warrior/Guardian)
i havent seen one on thief?
I dont have a thief, I play Guardian, but ill list the skills I found that either Break Stun or provide Stability for you. I found more than 1…
Roll for Initiative – Has a Break Stun effect
Haste – Has a Break Stun effect
Infiltrator’s Signet – Has a Break Stun effect
Shadow Step – Has a Break Stun effect
Dagger Storm – Provides Stability
Thats quite a few skills you can use to break Stun (also breaking KDs).
If you know your going to fight a boss or trash mob (i.e. the Graveler Scavengers in AC EM), you need to switch out some of your skills for these Stun break abilities.
I know for our group, once we finish the Spider queen (where we all already have 1-2 condition removal skills), we all switch up those skills to the stun breaks / stability skills to prepare for the hallway trash pull (1 Howler, 1 Breeder, 2 Scavengers). As long as you block the scavengers or break out of the KDs when they do it, they are a breeze. My group also targets and takes down those both quickly first before moving on to the Breeder, then the Howler.
IMO, their KDs appear to be on a 20-25 sec cooldown (this is coming from doing this pull many times), but as there are 2 of them, they will gang up and chain KDs on one target. Being a Guardian with Stand Your Ground shout works wonders here.
At this point, my group can do all paths with no deaths now that we have it figured out.
I gotta try this CM Explore mode people are complaining about LOL.
I do agree that CM Explore was a joke before, but if they made is Hard, that is awesome!
I blame most of the mmos in the industry having catered to lazy (not saying casual) players over the last couple of years. Many people have this idea in their head that all the content on an mmo should be accessible to them.
Not everything in an mmo should be accessible to everyone, work for it.
I agree wholeheartingly with this.
When I started playing MMOs, back in EQ1, I remember the toughness of those bosses / raid bosses. I never got to play 90% of the raid content back then, but I didnt begrudge the developers for making a hard game, and bosses that required only the top players could down.
Now being 31 years old, and seeing, over the years, how the genre has dumbed down, we are left with players like ‘whats-his-name that was 33 years old’ wanting to have the current dumbed down content. Im sorry, but you make me feel embarrassed for my age group. (In fact, im here at the airport doing another business trip, waiting for my flight. I work 55+ hours a week, 2 kids, and a fiance who hates games. I manage to make what time I have.. work)
I am fine with a small portion of the game only available to the elite. Its a challenge and a goal to work towards, and is alot of fun to get the chance to actually do it.
Its the same reason why I made one of my long term goals to obtain a Legendary weapon. It may take months, but I like having goals to work towards.
Actually, AC EM Breeders are cake compared to the Scavengers / Stalkers. Now THOSE are brutal! In fact, my group makes them a priority over the Breeders. AoE based skills kill the breeder’s minions quickly, and as well, you can always interrupt them (They make a very noticable barfing animation when they are spawning minions)
In any case, my group has updated our AC EM Explore . We just finished getting our achievement for all paths done. (IMHO: Asura path is the hardest, but my guild group thinks Human path is hardest)
And also: note that I just hit 80, but I was running AC explore as I was leveling with levels being 40 thru 75. My gear was the normal Greens + Blues, occasional yellow, with associated Minor / Major runes. Also, I run mostly melee, and can now do AC EM with all melee and no deaths. Once you figure out the mechanics, its a cakewalk
Better get started then
The fire golem was indeed tough, but found that projectile blocks / reflections worked wonders!
As a guardian, using my shield offhand + shield pet + Wall of Reflection turned this fight from insane to managable
This is the one thing I agree with right now. Sucks having to be blocked in chat when looking for groups
Um, you all do realize that when you do all 2-3 paths in a day, you get rewarded by extra tokens if completed.
Awww, the poor game wont hold your hand for you Asterisk? Sucks having to learn things on your own?
Not to be a geezer here, but back in my day, games didnt always have to tell you how to do things for you. Mario Bros. didnt always tell me how to jump, and which obstacles to avoid. Part of the challenge was figuring out yourself. Bummer….
Well, you go right ahead and keep dying in your dungeon runs Asterisk.
As for myself, me and my group will keep blowing through all explore modes (yes, even both burrow event ones. In fact, they are the only things right now in AC EM that even pose somewhat of a challenge to us now. Everything else is cake). Just got my Legendary weapon seal yesterday, btw!
Also, let me drop a nugget of wisdom on you: Those trash mobs, do you ever bother to read the description of their abilities? You know the ones that say ‘Leap Knockdown..’? Now, what prevents knockdowns, or even breaks you out of knockdowns? Perhaps the stability effect? Hmm… interesting… I wonder what you can do with that…
Man, reading these replies from players makes me sad at the state of gamers nowadays
At the moment, me and my guild can finish all paths in AC explore in 40 mins with no deaths
