The trait Light on your feet was recently adjusted to make short bow skills always behave as though you were behind your target. The skill fact shows this effect, but the trait does not actually give this effect.
You can see my chat log showing a DPS report at 3:54 AM where I stood in front of the test golem and attacked with Poison Volley and no other skill. At 3:55 AM, you can see a new DPS report from a new test golem which I stood behind and attacked with Poison Volley and no other skill. You can also see that I have Poison Volley set to auto attack, so the attack interval is consistent. I ran this test with Light on your Feet selected in my specialization tab, and I made no changed of any kind between the two scenarios other than positioning myself in front of my target for the first trial and behind my target for the second trial.
Hate to point this out, but pretty much none of the combo attacks can be canceled. DB no, HS no, 3 staff no, etc. . .
If you’re talking about Death Blossom, Heartseeker, and Debilitating Arc, you’re incorrect. Those skills can be cancelled by swapping weapons.
In the volcanic fractal, while fighting the Legendary Imbued Shaman, I am unable to consistently Vault over the pulsing lava pits in the arena. Instead, my character stops moving once he is positioned over the lava pit, and I am forced to eat the damage, because I can’t weapon swap to cancel the skill when it fails to work properly.
I can no longer use staff for mobility in areas where enemies are present, because I can’t cancel the damage dealing portion of the skill, which means there is no way to avoid being put in combat when using vault. Furthermore, in a raid setting, if my target location becomes compromised after I activate the skill, there is nothing I can do to avoid landing in that spot. One example of this is the black oil slicks that spawn in the Deimos fight. If I am able to weapon swap to cancel the skill, I can simply dodge on impact, and avoid causing the entire raid squad to wipe.
I invest in Black Lion skins. If they do this, then I will lose thousands of gold. There are many people who also invest in Black Lion skins. I don’t think it would be a good idea to cause many people to lose gold just so other people can make more gold.
To better express my point, let’s say I spend $100 on gems which I then use to purchase Black Lion keys. I use those keys to open chests, and I get several tickets. I then spend those tickets on several skins that I keep in my bank, in hopes that they will go up in value, as most Black Lion skins do. After a little while, you come along and suggests that the items, for which I paid real money, should be available to you by other means, so that you will have an enhanced game experience. Now let’s assume that you have never purchased any gems. Your idea effectively enhances the game for people who have potentially spent less to enjoy the game, while simultaneously causes others, who have most likely spent more to enjoy the game, to suffer a loss.
Black Lion skins should hold their value, or people will be more hesitant to buy them, and as a result, people will be more hesitant to buy keys.
After all the bugs and overall BS I experienced making Astralaria, if Legendary Armor forces me to do Raids, and has time-gates, I’m just not even going to bother.
I’m sick and tired of doing things I don’t want to do, just to get something I want. I remember when Anet said from the very beginning they want us to ‘play how you want’. Well, I like WvW and EOTM, but they won’t allow us to obtain Legendary Armor via the game modes we each individually like, are they? :-( because that would be fair for everyone… and they can’t have that!
If Legendary Armor requires Raids, that means you’re forcing me to do things I don’t want to do, and not play how I want. At least give us alternatives, it isn’t that hard.
It was annoying enough for me to have to do those horrible fractals for Astralaria, but Raids is just hell-to-the-no. I’m not an experienced player, and judging by all the lfg’s, unless you know exactly what to do, you can’t just ‘pug’ it, which makes legendary armor only for the elite that can do raids. How is that fair, Anet?
I wish people would stop taking “play how you want” out of context. Legendary equals ascended, ascended can be earned outside of raids, therefore you can do other things besides raids to earn “the most powerful gear”, which is what “play how you want” is referring to. It’s no different than being forced to run dungeons for dungeon armor.
No, play how you want is exactly that – playing the game mode YOU want to play, and working towards the content YOU want, without being forced to play game modes you don’t particularly like. I wish people would stop taking constructive criticism and suggestions out of context too, but unfortunately we don’t live in a world full of logical people.
It’s no different than being forced to run dungeons for dungeon armor.
Which is why Anet aren’t doing as well as they could be, because they force people to do things they don’t want to do, rather than encouraging players to play content they like, and be rewarded for it. It’s probably not the defining factor as to why people leave, but I would say it’s at least one of the many factors that contribute to people deciding to leave.
It’s like forcing someone with social anxiety to all of a sudden be asked to make a speech in front of millions in order to get a promotion in their work, and it’s the ONLY way they’ll get a promotion. Sure said person may be able to get through it, but they won’t want to, and will probably hate the very person (or company) that forced them to do it because there was no other way to get a promotion. It’s NOT good business, and whoever it is that decides to force people to play specific content -because-its-the-only-way, is stupid and needs to be fired.

No, I’m not talking about ascended armor, I’m talking about legendary armor. Something quite different. Furthermore, there is no other way to earn legendary armor other than being forced into playing Raids, which is NOT ‘playing how you want’.
The sad thing is, I truly can’t see Anet allowing people to make legendary armor via other game modes, because that would mean players get to play how they want, and they won’t have a bar of that. So I can’t see this ever changing. At least they did one thing right with the legendary backpieces by making them available for all 3 game modes – PvE (Ad Infinitum), WvW (apparently getting one, but i’ll believe it when I see it) and PvP (The Ascension). If only they did that for legendary armor and other things too… One can dream, anyway.
You decide to play Guild Wars 2. As a result, you may be in a position to covet specific things which are related to Guild Wars 2. When you use the word forced, know that it is merely an illusion which is a construct of your acquisitive nature. Should you recognize this characteristic, and overcome it, you will have the freedom you desire.
You might not understand what I’m talking about, so I will put it like this: You’re not being forced to do anything. You see a shiny object, and you want it. You’re not forced to want it. You’re also not forced to try to obtain it. The only reason you feel forced is, because you’re being pressed by greed. It’s not my intention to judge you harshly, I simply wish to inspire growth. Unfortunately, there’s not much of a demand for unsolicited advice, so I expect this to fall on def ears.
There should be a magic carpet glider skin! ArenaNet, please create this.
My party wiped on Eir in extreme mode, so I ended up killing her solo from 99% health. I was playing Mes. If you want to try this, it’s not too hard, but it takes a long time. It can also be done solo on Rev. just kite Garm around while you dps Eir. When she starts to use the fire skill, simply run a lap around the outer edge of the arena. The most important thing to remember is not to let Garm catch up to you. If he hits you, you will get immobilized, and the fire will likely kill you. Also, make sure you bring a lot of condition removal and swiftness, traveler’s runes, or some other movement speed bonus.

Do you guys know how long it would take to make weapons dyable?! Sure it would be amazing but a lot of work for very little payout on Anet’s behalf. Maybe I could see backpieces being done except we have the wings which are a palette swap… so I don’t think Anet will do that for money sake.
We buy gems and we bought Heart of Thorns. Our money should be used to add features we will enjoy. Making Guild Wars 2 more enjoyable will be remunerative. ArenaNet knows this, and that’s why they work on feature patches. I don’t think this will be more work than it’s worth.
If one of Mordremoth’s commanders died in my party, I would kick it for not taking the waypoint.
Evasive empowerment exists in the DD line. it a 10 percent modifier. the trick is getting an evade off so as to have it kick in. All opf those other modifiers have ’conditions" some easier to obtain and others more difficult.
there also a 10 percent modifier to staff damageif you trait for staff mastery.
Time will tell just how often we can have Evasive empowerment up but in theory you can get a staff to hit 20 percent harder just with that one traitline. Throw DA in the mix with executioner and there the potential of 50 percent more damage if conditions right.
Vault hurts.
In that case, I take back what I said. +20% with staff is enough to make DD a nice fit.
Critical Strikes, Deadly Arts, and Trickery all have damage modifiers. Daredevil does not have a damage modifier. For this reason, it is unlikely that we will see Daredevil become a staple specialization in PvE. That makes me sad. I would like to see my main class get an amazing elite specialization which will prove useful in each of the three game types. I think everyone wants that, regardless of which class they prefer.
To be fair, it will be a lot easier to do Jumping puzzles and map completion with this thief spec, but jumping puzzles and map completion aren’t what the end game is all about.
It’s possible that they could behave the exact same as mantras. At this time, we’re going with the theme that Distracting Daggers are something you can hold over your opponents for a period of time, and then it’s gone. We’d rather encourage using the daggers and getting those interrupts off, than simply holding the daggers for hours at a time.
Please feel free to let us know how they play during the next beta event. There’s quite a few ways to go with the ability and I’m not sure they have to behave exactly like mantras.
Why shouldn’t they behave like mantras? Better yet, why shouldn’t they behave more effectively than mantras? Mantras are a part of the core game. I would hope that the skills introduced as part of an elite specialization would be more impressive than the core skills that rival them.
I’m not an expert in balancing, but I can see that Mesmers and Thieves are similar in some ways. They both use stealth effectively, and they both focus on diversion to alter the outcome of a fight, so I think it’s fair to compare the functionality of Distracting Daggers to that of a mantra.
Whatever the reason for removing the 50% Karma Bonus option from the Enchanted Reward Boost, The business tactics of ArenaNet, in this case, have so far proven to be unfair and deceptive. In the end-user license agreement, they have given themselves the right to be unfair and deceptive, but that doesn’t increase the fairness or ethical value of their actions.
I would like to see them offer a solution to having hurt many of their customers. ArenaNet is a very creative team, who wants WG2 to be a good experience for all of it’s customers. I hope they will show us continuity in this endeavor.

You have not explained that the items I received from Black Lion chests would be rendered non-existent. More importantly, you didn’t give me any warnings prior to my purchase of Black Lion Keys. I can verify that my request is not unwarranted by the fact that the forums have posts with replies reaching into the thousands, all of which agree that the removal of Karma Boosters is unfair. People feel ripped off; I feel ripped off. The right thing to do would be to refund me.

Hello,
Like we said in the previous ticket that was sent to you. Because of the last patch, many changes were made on the game like the karma boosters. To answer your query directly, the Customer Support Team cannot circumvent intended design from our developers. We cannot exchange the items for Karma boosters, as these were removed from the game and from being able to be used by other items
Regards,

After several responses and an escalation, my ticket was closed with the receipt of this message.
ArenaNet is diligently working to hone an ideal balance between core class specializations before HoT is released, because of the advent of the ability to implement new specializations. The addition of a feature like enemy skill cast bars, would have a massive impact on balance. The actual effects of such a thing can not be accurately predicted, so ArenaNet would have to rely on player feedback to gauge that impact. This would greatly increase the amount of work needed to achieve an ideal balance between core class specializations, thus potentially causing a long delay to the highly anticipated release of HoT.
A thing I would like to see added to the game

I don’t fully agree, but I would like to see more options for customization of the UI. Guild Wars had a very nice UI customization system. You could enter UI edit mode and move objects around and even change the size of some objects.
Personally, I would like to be able to add buttons on my UI that allow me to toggle setting in my options menu. For example: a small button off in the corner that toggles auto targeting. This could be done by dragging the toggle from the settings menu to a point on the UI where you would like a button to be placed.
Any adjustments to the UI should at least be optional, since some people might like the UI as it is.
I would suggest Executioner over Potent Poison. Executioner practically gives you a solid +10% on all damage. This build deals hybrid damage. If it dealt damage, exclusively, with poison, then potent poison would be most effective. I assume you will get a higher return from the additional 10% of all your non-poison damage than you would from the +33% poison duration.
Also, the stats on gear have been increased by 30%, but the bonus to condition duration on Giver’s weapons remains at +10%. The build might be more effective if you use Sinister weapons instead of Giver’s. This is especially true if bosses are dying in a matter of seconds.
Name a worse specialization than Acrobatics.
Many people complained about how agile thieves were, so ArenaNet crippled that aspect of Guild Wars 2. Few people have expressed that a thief should be more agile, and evasive, so it was an easy decision to kill Acrobatics. Thief is not as versatile as it once was. ArenaNet said they wanted to inspire build diversity. I believe they have done the opposite with the changes they have made to Acrobatics.

I am very elitist these days, but I wasn’t always this way. When I first started running dungeons, I had just finished making Sunrise, and people said many bad things about that. They made me feel pretty bad about how poorly I played for a person with a legendary weapon. For that reason, I would have liked to see a tool that kept me from joining groups with other elitists like those. I would have enjoyed mixing with people who were way above my skill level, but not if they didn’t want me there.
I can see how tools like this would help keep bad things from happening. On the other hand, people can simply post an elitist LFG message. That seems to work well enough. I think there are more important issues to address within the dungeon community, like adding new dungeons with new rewards.
That’s cool and all but… close those soul windows on your face and imagine this….. Upgradeable… FRACTAL ARMOR? Sadly it is unlikely to be done with how small the fractal community is but man wouldn’t that be something?
The fractal community would grow substantially if things like these were introduced! There is no doubt about that. Look at how The Silverwastes exploded. Everyone wanted that luminescent armor.
I propose that ArenaNet does two things to spice up some old content:
1. Fix the wall on wall trick for killing Giganticus Lupicus in one shot, and add an achievement for killing him with a party of 5 players or less.
2. Add an achievement for killing Lupi while being the only person in your group to deal damage to Lupi. You must also be the only person in your group to have taken damage dealt by Lupi. This solo Lupi kill achievement should give a large amount of AP, as it takes a long time for people to reach that skill level, but it won’t be the AP that sets them apart from people who have not conquered this challenge. Reward them with a title and another kind of reward as well: Mini Giganticus Lupicus. Give mini Lupi the Summon Grub animation and the large Life Drink attack animation to spice up this hot mini pet, and entice people to try for one of the most difficult challenges in the game. Some will have this mini on day one, while others will have to train for months before killing Lupi one on one.
What if there was a way to upgrade your Fractal weapons so that they glow like the Fractal Capacitor? Many people are running out of reasons to run Fractals. I nearly have the full set of Fractal weapons. It’s time for another attraction!
Some of my friends told me I really need to start sharing my ideas with Anet, because they really like this one… among others.
The current outfit system can be tweaked to ease certain game play concepts. Players like to level up their characters in many different ways. Some people work on crafting; others use Tomes of knowledge. It’s also fun to get out there and explore, and level up as you go. One of the drawbacks to this, however, is you will have to acquire new armor and weapons as you level up. It’s not cost effective to transmute these pieces, because you will be replacing them soon. This doesn’t mean you have to deal with the boring low level armor skins as you level up. You could just buy an outfit that is pre-made, and wear that as you level, but what if you want to do things differently? What if you want to customize your look and keep that same look as you level? Style and customization are huge parts of what makes Guild Wars 2 a great game!
I propose that ArenaNet makes an option to set your current configuration of armor skins as your outfit. This way, once you have your look just the way you want it, you can select “set as custom outfit”. That will be your look until you change your outfit, or transmute your armor to look differently. While you are wearing a custom outfit, you can change armor, and your look will not change.
This modification to the current outfit system would also compliment one other aspect of game play. Swapping ascended armor from one character to another. If you are a culturally diverse person, and you enjoy wearing different sets of cultural armor, this system can help you. Let’s say you have a Human Thief and a Norn Engineer, and you have crafted a set of ascended medium armor for the two characters to share, but you want each of them to have their respective cultural styles while they wear it. If you equip the armor on your Human Thief, and set up your wardrobe to look like the Human tier 3 cultural armor, then you set your look as an outfit by selecting “set as custom outfit”. You can then transfer the armor to your Norn Engineer, and repeat the same process until you have a cultural looking custom outfit set up for him as well. Now you will be able to swap that ascended armor back and forth without having to worry about loosing your cultural diversity! Isn’t it perfect? Not yet. What if instead of using transmutation charges, there was another kind of stock you could use to set up a custom outfit? What if you could buy Custom Outfit Charges to set up Custom outfits on your characters? It would be remunerative for ArenaNet, and customers will be glad to have this added feature. Everybody wins!
Problem: After listing an item, the “Success” window pops up. It significantly increases the amount of time it takes to list an item. This message was easily circumvented with the old trading post interface.
Solution: The Success window should have a check box that says, “never show this message again”, and as soon as the item is successfully listed, the unified order dialog should disappear so you can promptly begin listing another item.
Problem: It now takes longer to check the prices of several different items in your inventory. Upon selecting an item to sell or buy, you are forced to view a separate window (the unified order dialog) which displays current buyers offers and current sellers listings. In the old Trading post interface, this information appeared off to the side making it possible to easily select another item to sell or buy.
Solution: Replace the Price columns in the Buy Items and Sell Items tabs with Columns that display the amount of the highest buyers offer and the price of the lowest sellers listing.
Problem: When viewing the unified order dialog, if I try to enter 250 into the Quantity field, and there are only a small number of items listed together in each listing for this item, I am told, “Increase your price to purchase more”. In the old Trading post interface, my price would automatically update to match the highest price I would have to pay if I were to purchase 250 units.
Solution: This issue could most simply be resolved by reverting this aspect to the previous format.
Aside from these inconveniences, I really like the new trading post interface.
