You got a free 500g dye and it’s your worst day?
I have like 10 different green dyes and Toxin dye is so ugly, like how is it worth 500 gold?
Got Toxin dye from the gem store but didn’t know it was worth so much.
Used it.
Found out it was close to 500 gold.
Hate my life.

“…the hunting pack gathered around and as the arch shaman casts his enchantment, her bow straightened into a staff, no longer was she a hunter, she becomes a druid…” – from AoW III
Because it feels extremely slow and my main is a tempest.
Is it from the wrath vine chest? or from the champion chest as well. Need about 400 of them.
The population overall is still the same HoT, its just many people don’t play the new maps. All other world bosses, pvp lobby queue is faster. Some zones just have way more players compared to other zones
Just curious….how did you manage to get a copy of the game (now) that didn’t include Heart of Thorns, and why would you not have purchased the bundle instead of (in essence) purchasing the core game twice?
Or did you purchase the game long, long ago and never played?
Only ask because if you obtained the game outside the rules of the ToS, you might want to just go ahead and purchase HoT now and play that account, rather than lose all progress from a possible account termination.
Good luck.
The core game is free… GW2 is completely f2p now and only the HoT expansion requires $50
People on here looked at me funny when I said WoW is a lot less grindy than GW2.
In GW2 if I had four hours of playtime I´d spend three and a half hours in the Silverwastes running from chest to chest because everything else in the game is completely unrewarding.
In WoW you get geared by playing the game which I don´t consider grinding.
you know that’s just like your opinion man…
In WoW the only way to improve you gear is to do raid in LFR over and over until your item level average reaches enough to join groups to do mythical raid over and over until you get enough item level to do legendary raid with group over and over until you get the highest item level so you don’t get beat in pvp…
You said you played for the first 20 levels, I tell you as someone with 698 average item level
Oh and the new expansion for WoW is 100x the grind, you do the same daily (kill 200 of the mobs in this zone) everyday there’s not even event, it’s literally flame citadel grind. It’s so bad, when the expansion came out it had 11 million+ subs active in a week and within 4 months of the launch the latest number of subs has dropped to 5 million is still dropping. It is the most grind game, you can look up WoW Youtubers and see it for yourself if you don’t believe me.
Another issue with WoW is that the hp and damage with level goes up linearly from 1-80 then it goes quadratically from 85 to 90 and then it goes exponentially from 90-100, if you look at the graph from level 100 in comparison to level 98, you are about 15-20 times stronger (15- 20 x more hp and damage). This means you would never ever visit lower zones because there’s no benefit, the biggest complaints in WoW is that everyone stays in their capital or garrison queuing for raids and never ever leaves the city.
When you get to level 100 you will see what I mean.
(edited by IEatCabbage.1907)
1. world bosses – you can do 4 of these every hour and make at least 2.5 gold an hour and if super super lucky you make 2k gold
2. silver waste – salvage all blue armour and fountain all green armour to give you the maximum profit. Also get on chest train, this method will give you on average 10 gold an hour if you are active
3. trading post saving – when sell mats, make sure you don’t sell right a way and set your price right, same goes for buy. This way every time you sell things you make 15%-20% more and when buying things you lose 15%-20% less. Meaning you’ll actually be 40% richer
4. karka farming at Sunset Cove – every karka shell is 12 silver and if you have a group of 20 then you can make about 5-6 gold an hour
5. TP flipping – risky but rewarding
The reason why dungeon gold are nerfed is because they are really easy to do and gives rewards that are too good. Now people still do them for mats but no just grinding them for gold
lol sounds not bad
There will only be living seasons which will be free until the next expansion which will most likely be underwater expansion
When Orr was released, it was hard because there were so many tough enemies that deals tons of damage auto attacking you and they would literally swarm and chase you cross the entire map. In the new zones, the mobs deal massive damage only if you fail to avoid their special moves or cc them to stop their channeling. Also they are quiet slow, with speed boost signets you can out run their attacks.
Another thing to keep in mind is after you unlock all masteries, these mobs will be a joke because their poison will have minimal effect and they can’t stealth anymore.
you have to be level10 because they don’t want a free to play player who would 1. troll players 2. don’t even know there skills and jump in pvp right away
Eir dies and Faolin are the first ones to die. Faolin is consumed and became a mutant and killed by the players later. Mr. Scruff showed his human emotions even though he is a machine and sacrificed itself for Taimi. Zoija lost her sight and Treahene or whatever that Marshall syvalri name is gets killed by the player as Mordremoth plants his heart into him. The jungle dies and release all of its energy across the entire Tyria and the jungle withers. (The Jungle dragon has no physical form as he is the jungle itself, every tree, every grass, every flower, and every vine, so you and your allies had to travel to the dream and kill his mind to truly kill him)
Click on chapter 13 to redo that quest then switch back to chapter 14 and log out and log back in again
Say WHAT? The raid is not in the base HoT package but “to be released”? Can someone confirm this?!
Also are there any other “tidbits” like this that were supposed to be inside HoT but suddenly change of plans and they’re not there yet?
The raid will be released a month after one another and first raid will be released in less than 2 weeks
meh its like a 7.2 now, and the original game is like a 7.9 so meh

Eir dies bravely early in the story, Faolin is consumed and transformed into a mutant by Mordramoth and later killed by the player. Zoija lost her sight and Marshall Trahearne dies. Mr. Scruffy is destroyed trying to save the player and allies. Modramoth’s physical form is the jungle itself but its mind is vulnerable and is destroyed by the player and dies and release all of its energy through the entire jungle
I would lower the HP from the new maps from 10 down to 5 and change the requirements from 400 down to 200 its the same things still need 40 hero challenge to complete.some they need lower it to 200 so when you do brink/basin herou challenge you can play spec in another 2 maps. some people dont have time to do full map completion for each character what have.
Wrong, When they lower the HP from the new maps down from 10 to 5 and lower the requirements from 400 to 200 that means people can use HP from core Tyria to complete these. Players with map completion can unlock these right away
Tbh I never did try to unlock my elite specialization since I’m an elementalist and Tempest seems like a terrible elite
I gonna be honest, I’ve been playing HoT solo and I actually completed personal story and have done every single boss.
The good:
-The maps are huge and you can clearly see right off the bat that Anet did put tons of effort in creating these new maps. My personal favourite is Auric Basin just because how calm and peaceful it is
-the new mechanics such as gliding and other masteries that introduce new ways to play the map and new mechanics to fight some of the bosses on the new maps. These masteries at first 2 levels are easy to unlock and are all that’s required to access most of the new maps. (personal story requires 2-1-1-1 in masteries). Once they are unlocked, they are unlocked for every character on your account.
-The personal story is done to perfection compared to core personal stories and living world stories. The voice acting is at its best, the character development is great that you see what each character is like, and cutscenes are just amazing. The lore they give us in these personal stories are just more than what we could ask for.
-The mobs have great new mechanics to them and this makes combat and boss fight actually exciting. I am sick and tired of core world boss fights, for most of these bosses you just stand there in one spot and auto attack it until its dead. Here you actually have to move around, knowing when to use cc, and see the boss’s attack animation. This makes the mobs actually challenging unlike when Orr was first released where the mobs would swarm you and follow you until you are dead with no actual mechanics.
-The core world is still populated with tons of players, its almost like the expansion had no effect on core Tyria at all, while the new maps are actually filled with people from what I’ve seen so far (with exception of Auric Basin, this map is pretty much empty at all times). Why is this good? In other games, I’ve seen countless times where a new expansion comes out and the core world literally dies.
The bad:
-The elite specialization is locked behind 400 hero points to unlock and this is frustrating for many people. There is no reason for this specialization to be locked behind this much HP. They really need to address this issue. I would lower the HP from the new maps from 10 down to 5 and change the requirements from 400 down to 200.
I would give this expansion an 8/10 so far and if they would lower the HP for elite specialization I would give this game a 9.5/10 and the rest I have to see when raid comes out
Ch. 14 personal story Itzel Requirement

it is removed, but atm it is bugged for a lotta ppl and Anet is trying to patch it
If you only want elite specialization then don’t bother
If you want to see the new map and explore the answer is yes
If you want a great personal story then the answer is also yes
“3. “Masteries are only there for grind and personal stories shouldn’t need these to continue.”
We have to compare this to the core game personal story which is gated every 10 levels. You only need to unlock each basic masteries to continue the personal story (for now at least). This actually seems fair when compared to the core game personal story.”At stage 14, you need Itzel 4, right out of the bat.
As in it pretty much goes 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 4. That is WAY too much for story grind.
That’s actually isn’t a lot compared to levelling from level1-80 in the core story
Yes it is.
I’ve been at it about 12 hours playing the game without hardcore grinding. (both long sessions though) and I have pipped HALF WAY to level 3 itzel mastery (already had level 1 from before the 12 hour start).
By this point I would have easily hit 50-60 without tomes or boosts of any sort.
It is simply too much to gate a story behind.
You have to do the math. From level60 – level70 total exp is much more than from mastery 2-3 in terms of number wise…Everything else is opinion oriented.
To clarify, level 1 masteries = fair enough, they don’t take too long.
Level 4 mastery? Hell naw. I’ve played a full 10 hours today by doing some hero points, adventures, events, map completion (as much as I can), a guild hall capture etc and I have pushed my Itzel mastery to just over half way to the 3rd level.
Level 4 is just going to take too kitten long for me to enjoy ANY continuity with the story. I would probably have to play the previous episode again to remember what exactly has gone on -.-
Like wdf I had to level from 70 to level80 to unlock personal story and that was like 2m exp.. How dare they do that back in the days and kept doing for 3 years…
how can you get 635,000 exp in an hour? i mean if 2500 hours if play gets me nothing…. I don’t understand how you can get 635k in an hour?!?
Lol, there are players that are mad and make stuff up. Leveling up masteries is same as levelling up. at Level1 mastery you need 50k exp, level2 mastery you need 100k and so fourth. Its very easy to get 50k exp you can get that in half an hour

If they make the specialization cost under 100 HP I would rate this expansion 10/10
some maps are packed with people while some maps are completely empty. I find that Auric basins and Dragons Stand are really empty is what I found
1. Complaints on elite specialization being locked and “…requires too much effort” is a valid complaint, because when you compare it to other specializations, which cost no more than 60, it cost way too much and can be considered unfair and grindy. Anet really need to address this issue as I personally believe if they scale down the cost to 60, most people will be satisfied
2. This is funny because there are people complaining there are “…too many vets all over the map..” and they die constantly, try to change your build (stop using zerker) and change up your specialization and trust me you will survive longer. Combat in HoT is about who survive longer, not who kills who faster. Then there are people complaining all the zones are “..huge but empty zones with minimal content..”, I personally believe these people managed to glitch out all the mobs and events that appears every 5 seconds when you try to move
3. “Masteries are only there for grind and personal stories shouldn’t need these to continue.”

I’m addressing all these complaints based on the core game and I personally believe is as unbiased as possible

Are you sure that you eat cabbage, or do you eat paint chips? Because that was the worst argument I’ve seen. I paid $50 for specializations I won’t get to use until 80, and not until a MASSIVE grind of hero points. Forgive me for not loving and adoring it, especially since it’s going to take so kitten long just for me to get to the fun stuff, now that they’ve abandoned dungeons.
I’ve paid $ when this game came out and they won’t even let me keep doing personal stories after I’ve reached levl10, they forced me to level up to level20 to do my personal story again. How dare they, oh while at it, did you know how grind it was to level from level1-80? I literally had to do the same event over and over again, I had to stay in 1 zone to kill mobs over and over, I hated that

every single complaint I’ve seen so far:
“why do we have to unlock elite specialization”
“why do we have to unlock masteries”
“it takes months to unlock all these stupid stuff”
Lol, I’ve played the game for 5 hours altogether since its launch and I’ve gained masteries for exalted’s trust, learned updraft for gliding, and how to use bounce mushrooms. Keep them rage coming, I bought too much pepper and need some free salt. Maybe Anet will unlock specialization and masteries for everyone for not doing any events and while at it why not give everyone a legendary weapon. Oh, they should also remove level 1 and make everyone level80 for every character because from level 1 -80 is such a grind tbh.
explanations for things people complain about

1. “this game is not casual friendly anymore”
yes the game is still casual friendly, only the new area is less casual friendly just like silver waste. You can’t just stand there auto attack bunch of mobs and not move an inch and be fine with it. Another issue is that people still go meta (class-cannon) when they have the options to try out a different build that would be better for them.
2. “this game isn’t for solo players anymore”
I don’t get the definition of solo? Do you mean you don’t want to see other players on your map or participate in any of your event? Because I’ve been playing by myself and encountered many events with random other players and finishing the events getting all the rewards.
3. “grinding like eastern MMOs”
There are so many events across the map, try glide down or go up and explore the map. The number of events are countless and they are all really fun to do even by yourself. You level your masteries the same way you level up back in the days. In other eastern MMOs I’ve played where you kill 100-200 of this mob to finish this daily, it is incomparable to this game. I don’t know if anyone used this as a complain actually ever played eastern MMOs at all.
Things people completely ignore when Anet has one of the smoothest launch I’ve ever seen for an MMO in years (compared to WildStar, ESO, WoW, FF XIV).
These areas are actually huge and takes a very long time to explore
The new areas looks beautiful and the music sounds amazing
imagine the increase in toxicity with the increase of elitism. Or even worse, people use it as a way to open world gambling
no map chat
limited auction house trading
unable to use mail and forums
restricted whispers
no daily bonus
WvW at level60
limited character slots
limited storage
unable to use guild banks
To clear things up, things listed below are restarted towards F2P players
-Unable to use map chat
-Only able to whisper every 30 seconds
-Unable to use mail
-Only can participate WvW at level60
-Unable to use the forums
-Limited storage and bag space
-Limited buys and sells on the auction house
-Fewer character slots
All in all the F2P model for GW2 will increase the number of players while still maintain the game economy and friendly experience

1. Fishing – simple concept, you get fishing rod that has charge on it (bait) and you use it to fish at different locations to get different catches for example ponds (frogs), river (trout, salmon), lake (pike, lake bass), and sea (jelly fish, tuna) and these are resources that you can use to level up professions such as cooking and jewell crafting (using fish oil).
2. Player owned house – another simple concept that allows you to have your own house in your race city. That has a garden to collect herbs and vegetables and a cooking station and another station maybe and some bonus storage. The house shouldn’t be too big.
3. Cosmetic mounts – Add cosmetic mounts that you can ride even in combat since it doesn’t do you anything more than cosmetic. No reason not to add it to make more money and it should work in combat like all cosmetic items.
yeh they fixed my issue pretty fast as well but I only had 1 issue though
can’t take the topic srsly with that name
1. Yes people, especially those who run dungeons, dislike rangers.
2. Thieves a have higher damage output, but rangers tend to have better survivability.
3. If you enjoyed your ninja more than your monk, choose thief. But please be aware a ranger has an easier learning curve than a thief. Thieves are more prone to dying in both PvE and PvP. If you liked your monk more, guardian may be your better option.
This all said, it might be best if you test all the classes and see what feels better for your play-style.
Hope this helps.
I played dual pistol thieve and in pvp all I have done is 2222222 333333 2222222 and its actually really easy

When you buy the game you played it and had fun with it. It’s like saying to Steam “can I refund my game after I play it for 20 hours cause now it’s on sale” which does not make any sense at all. The expansion is worth $50 to Anet and everyone pays that much for the expansion, the bonus is given to the new players because so they can afford it and don’t have to pay $100 for it. Just because new players benefit from something, doesn’t mean you are punished for purchasing it.
People have had this discussion before…
Atleast if the animations would be based on real life average weights of two handed swords, which is about 1.1-1.8 kilograms or 2.4-4.0 pounds (which ever measurement units you use), which shouldn’t be that heavy for a trained strong woman to swing it (fantasy world warriors would clearly have more strength, due to physical training obviously, even if they’re women).
humm.. nope a real life 2H sword would be about 30 pounds at least. I’ve seen he heaviest 2h sword go close to 100 pounds

…Thank you for making Guild Wars 2 such a great game.
I’ve only been playing the game little over a month, level80 for one character with 50% world completion and a couple ascension gears.
I’ve played plenty of MMOs (Runescape -> PWI -> Aion -> Forsaken World -> NeverWinter D&D -> Tera -> Rift -> WoW (MoP & WoD)) and now I think I finally found the MMO for me
The World bosses in this game is amazing, the fractals are great, the dungeons are good, the PvP and Dynamic events are superb.
In every other MMO I’ve played at the end game there’s no exploring and all I ever done in those games are doing dungeons over and over for gears at maxed level. But in this game I actually want to explore even at max level and the open world content is just great.
Anet has really done a good job at creating this game
More of you should care more tbh, so a few decent lads could win big money that could change their lives
This is an MMO, not a MOBA. More than half of the people don’t even pvp, and out of all the people who does pvp, only few do at a very very high competitive level.
Hello. I am an experienced mmorpg player and I’ve played all the big games so far. I’m new in GW2 (joined about 2 months ago) and so far I got 3 characters to lv80 and im working on another one atm. Unfortunately for me too the game is nothing close to fun, even though I got into it with so much excitement after all the comments and videos I’ve watched prior to purchasing. A couple of things that spoil the fun for me: the grindfest! its simply horrible and unrewarding (worst I’ve experienced in an mmo). Dungeon grouping! there is a general lack of direction when it comes to roles in a group environment and it tends to be very disappointing to new players who find themselves in a downed state all the time. It’s made me feel hopeless and helpless several times and that was even in the early dungeons where the game should be very forgiving. The world feels amazingly small and boring. The lore is plain boring for me, so much that I skip all cut scenes and dialogues. Crafting and gathering, also very dull (after playing ffxiv arr its going to be hard to find better or equal crafting/gathering). Gearing! From what I’ve seen so far (correct me if im wrong), gearing is horrible since basically you have two tiers of gear to choose from which is exotic and the upgrade, ascended. What I hate is that for example a karma berzerker exotic sword and a dungeon token exotic sword come with exactly the same stats and after that its all about different skins with no difference statwise. And finally I find ridiculous how the legendary weapon crafting concept works. You spend hundreds upon hundreds of gold and time to grind mats for a weapon with stats that are the same as an ascended weapon and all you truly get is a shiny skin I have played a bit WvW and it was also boring, basically all I did was follow a huge zerg in a map and capture bases and occasionally fought with enemy zergs in battles that werent remotely fun. I havent done any pvp yet so I dunno how that works. No healers, no tanks, no dps, everyone is everything and everyone has to take care of themselves. I understand anet wanted to try a new approach but for me this is not working good. Sure some classes can support the group with some abilities but it’s minimal. I havent felt once that feeling of “bonding” with my group, like you have my back and I have yours. It’s everyone for themselves. Anyway that’s how it has been for me so far, I hope the expansion will make it more interesting somehow. I wanted to get addicted to this game for many reasons..
TBH i actually liked farming at Dry Top and Silver Waste. All of the zones look great and no other game come close to the epic environment in this game so far from all the other MMOs i’ve played
