CM has got to be one of the easiest dungeons out there. Just find one of those groups who KNOW how it’s truly run and remember and copy it. You in turn, can lead your own group.
I don’t pretend to be an expert but I know what it takes to run a dungeon. For many, dungeons seem to be frustrating but with a well-coordinated group (even if no one knows how to run a certain path) it can be a fun and rewarding experience.
I was a bad dungeoner and I’ve also had my fair share of bad pugs but in time I came to learn. Based on these experiences, I just wanted to share some simple tips when it comes to dungeon pugging.
1) Come prepared with every weapon type available to your class. You’ll need the right tool for the right job- be it DPS, support, melee only, ranged only, etc. Even if you don’t know the dungeon, you’ll have what you need to succeed.
2) Let the group know that you are new and not experienced. Ask for directions-never assume. If you yourself cannot lead a group smoothly to the end, you are still considered inexperienced.
3) Appoint a leader and listen to him/her well. Keep your eyes on the chat for directions. It doesn’t help if your group is all over the place doing different things. More often than not, you’ll wipe.
4) I won’t get into build specifics but let it be known that dungeons are about group cohesion. By this, I mean that you must think of the group before yourself. If you have skills that can protect the group, use it. If you have skills that increase group DPS, use it. Many don’t realize that buffing your group increases your overall survivabilty and DPS, making dungeons a lot faster and easier.
[Ex: Guardians using Wall of Reflection to negate 100% of ranged damage and increase DPS. Warriors using Banners and Shouts instead of Signets.]
These, I believe, are the most quintessential elements to succeeding in PUG groups. If you guys have anything to share or more tips, feel free to add to the list.
Well that’s awkward. I received the rewards twice on my account.
I feel the remove condition combos are extremely useless. Correct me if im wrong but you actually have to hit someone with them?
Ex: Rifle projectile finishers going through a Light combo field do not remove conditions on yourself or anybody else unless they are getting hit by it. I think. Don’t quote me on that LOL.
To anyone who’s reading this and is thinking about complaining. STFU.
They’re making progress towards a better game and I’m pretty stoked about this announcement.
Also, you’re not forced to run FOTM. The stats are barely higher than Exotics.
Hammer contributes a lot more to groups in dungeons and is much more versatile.
Greatsword has a cripple and can be used to kite somewhat well, but it’s obvious when someone will 100b you. GS is for flat out DPS and not really for utility.
I choose Hammers.
^
Also 1h Sword is the most selfish Guard weapon I can think of.
I want my bots. I want my cheap T6 materials.
And this thread was needed why?
It’s a sarcastic thread.
Look at all the issues we Guardians have been talking about and take a look at what was fixed.
LOL.
Sorry, I just laughed as soon as I saw the class changes for Guardians.
I stopped reporting after I realized they made crafting materials cheaper. Support the bots <3
Philosoraptor Question: Can one retaliate retaliation? hmmmm*
Serious Question: Can 1h Sword’s third auto-attack chain proc Sigil of Earth 3 times on crit?
Yeh they definitely need to make an overhaul for the TP. Quite buggy and missing some very useful features.
Consumables > Food
I see no food. I see a bunch of alcohol.
Long Bows are kittening excellent when your team cooperates with their blast finishers. You can easily get 25 mights for 20s if they make use of the fire field.
Stack that with some banners and you’re good to go for PvE/ Dungeons.
0/0/30/30/0 is the primary build I use for dungeons. You can put the remaining 10 points in anything else.
Just make sure you grab the Banner traits that make them last longer, shorter CD, and grant regeneration.
You’re gonna hear a lot of mixed answers.
I find Guardian’s ranged attacks to be mediocre. It’s not the best and not the worst.
I would however, like it if Anet increased scepter orb speed by just a tiny bit.
Shield and Focus offer a lot more utility for group and solo play.
Just my 2 cents.
I’ve recently gotten a hold of a Dawn and I’m looking to sell it but the question is now or later? I’m no good with GW2’s current economic trends :’(
Also are we allowed to trade through forums? I’d rather not use the TP if it can be helped. Every bit of copper is worth more these days.
@Joshi: Yes.
@Dead Water: I’m curious about the same question about the rune so hopefully someone who has used it can answer but as for your second question, I believe it is a bug. If it’s a shout, PoV should work. I noticed too at certain times, PoV doesn’t work at all.
T6 mats are just too hard to farm and prices are ridiculous.
Also Southsun, as a new map, is pretty much useless.
Discuss.
Why aren’t they different? If I use a Sword and Shield, I want to see a different animation than when i use a Sword and Sword.
Ex: Sword/shield= slashing and shield bashing
sword/sword= actually using both swords -.-;
It’s not that big of a deal but if they added different swinging animations for different weapon combinations, that would add a whole new look to the game.
so all these…. buff/heal/boon stuff happen around the area centered around our character, thanks
thats good to know, would help with learning to position myself
and since i’m here abusing this thread :P can someone tell me if smite( scepter skill 2) has a limit of how many hits it can do to 1 target cuz i’ve been counting and i dont think it hits even 10 times to a target even if its alone and in the ring the whole time….
You can definitely proc all hits but sadly the target must be big enough to be hit by all of them :’(
Q : my question involves the shout, save yourselves. So it draws condtions from everyone and passes em to you while granting almost every boon to everyone right? so i was thinking of what to do next to clear the conditions but i dont want to use 6 runes of lyssa or contemplation of purity. Hence the only option left is to either wait it out and hope the signet of healing and the trait purity will save me now :P or choose purging flames. So my question is how many conditions does purging flames…..purge? and i know it purges em one by one so i wanna know if you stay in there the whole time, will it be enough if i had every condition on me( and i do mean EVERY)?
I suggest traiting for Pure of Voice and using Superior Runes of the Soldier. Also use Healing Signet and the trait that cures 1 condition every 10 seconds.
If there are multiple combo fields stacked upon eachother, which combo field will proc with a finisher?
I find that sometimes I’m not getting the combo effect I want and it’s probably because of stacking fields upon eachother :x This info would be really useful to know!
Whichever was put down most recently, apparently.
This makes me sad T_T. I’m gonna have to hold back on my Hammer’s third a bit more then. I had a feeling it was getting in the way of my group’s might stacking.

Having the chest stick around is the least ANET could do for making such a shotty event. It was laggy and it was buggy. We’ve all seen the threads about this.
The Lost Shores pales in comparison to the Mad King events.
1) MK could be enjoyed throughout the week at the player’s leisure.
2) The One-Time event during MK was only a cut scene. It was not something that alienated people through tangible rewards.
The Lost Shores just seemed rushed and uncalled for. It was a huge let down right after the epicness that MK offered.
The better question Gergolot, is why do you feel so strongly against it?
I think the idea to give the chest to all is completely insane.
I understand if you get DC’d during the event, I was such a person, had to go back about an hours worth of event. I spent a good few hours on it, and for someone to go to chest after doing nothing, I speak for a large portions of players, I’d be pissed to say the least.
As some have said, may as well just mail everyone a set of exotics for stepping on the island. ¬_¬
I honestly don’t give a flying kitten if people could just grab the chest right now without putting in some work. I for sure know people feel HELLA cheated just because of one-time events.
What’s it to you that more people get exotics? To me that’s a cheaper market. Word.
Why would/Should anyone that didn’t do the event get access to the chest? I’m so flabbergasted by this idea. I didn’t get to do the event but this idea of yours makes no sense. Might as well give everyone all the gear they need at level 80 in a chest as a prize for making it to 80 too amirite?
Because the player base starts feeling alienated with one-time events. Sometimes it’s just out of their control whether they can participate or not.
People here have done the event yet disconnected at the last second or got bugged when they fell into the lava. They’ve done the event for 3 hours and not a single piece of loot.
Just b/c YOU dont want loot, doesn’t mean others don’t as well bro.
Keeping this suggestion alive. Anet needs to see this. Such a simple solution.
I’d also like to add that a majority of the players only really care about the loot.
-If you got DC’d then having the chest stick around for X amount of time is fair.
-If you weren’t able to attend the event for various reasons; also fair.
-If you just want the chest; fair enough reason for me!
Have the chest stick around for a day for those who weren’t able to attend the event. Maybe even 12 hours.
Problem solved. People happy.
Lionguard Lyns is a she and she’s got one hell of a kittening cute kitten voice.
hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg*
Congrats on the legendary!!!
Also it’s really nice how GW2 put in some very cultural pieces in the game. 808 represent!
Like in all threads, we’ll be happy to see a slight projectile speed increase.
I met a poor sap who loves the scepter as it is now. Very misinformed.
Finally patch notes for Guardians that didn’t irritate me.
EDIT: NVM I take what I said back. Amins pointed out Orb of Light isn’t the scepter auto. GG. >_>;
Title says it all.
Man I’m pretty sure you’re all a bunch of whiny kittenes.
Anet is doing everything they can to make the game fun and you’re all making assumptions and having negative attitudes towards everything they do.
Does Stand Your Ground also break others’ stuns?
I noticed on the Warrior that Shake It Off cures others’ fear but then again, I might be totally crazy.
I was curious about the unscathed contender trait (10% under aegis):
How do blocks prioritize themselves? Is it by time (as in, the first one applied is the first one to block)?
Here’s a hypothetical: If I am wielding a mace and focus, and I know that my aegis passive is about to come up and I want to receive the 10% on the burst from the shield pop. What would be the best skill order to use? Protector’s, Shield, Aegis? And maybe add in shelter – that would ensure the shield pops.
Could be a funny little might stack, burning proc, % increase, burst chain. Not really viable, just curious.
If Aegis is up and you block with another skill, your Aegis will still be popped. So in any case it’s always better to let Aegis pop first for that extra block. I’m not sure if that answers your question in anyway but that’s what I’ve been noticing.
^ I like this guy. LOL ty for that

I think males look stupid in their GS stance. Females got that swag going on.
Scarlet Six is a guild created by friends and is based in Hawaii. We are looking to recruit players in the Pacific region mainly, however, don’t count yourself out just yet. If you’re looking to have enjoyable experiences with others while on your adventure, feel free to join. We prefer dedicated players, whether active or casual, as this is the only way the guild and its members will become stronger as a whole. Veterans and noobies alike are welcome, as long as you share the same vision!
SIX is an infant guild and so we hope that you can help us grow. Our intentions are not to be a big time guild, but rather a small community where everyone’s familiar with one another. We want everyone to be able to forge relationships for a social experience as well as build strong connections that will further your own goals. The guild is open to participating in a number of activities which include daily dungeon runs, structured PvP, and most notably World versus World. SIX supports our own and will help those in need, if only they should ask.
We do not require much of you as long as you do not cause drama and aren’t complete arses. If you decide to join, I hope it is because you’ve chosen to make SIX your home. We humbly ask that you represent us and be a part of the continuing effort to make the guild a recognizable face in Tyria.
Once again, if you share the same vision that Scarlet Six has, please drop your info on this thread and I’ll try to get back as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Endu.

We cannot allow this thread to die fellow Guardians. Keep those questions coming. I see some very short threads with questions that could have been answered in this compendium!
Question:
—While using the mace as a weapon and having the trait “Writ of the Merciful” (All symbols heal allies), does mace skill #2 give direct healing as well as the regen buff it normally grants?
Based on my limited testing in Gendarran Fields, I’d have to say it gives you both the healing from #2 mace and the healing from Writ of the Merciful.
Throughout my testing, I had Virtue of Resolve on cooldown so our passive regen doesn’t get in the way.
1)Cleric’s Mace #2 without the trait = 69 healing
2)Cleric’s Mace #2 with trait = 63+32 healing
3) Just to see how much healing symbols give itself, I used #4 with a GS and found it was giving 30 healing.
I’m not too sure why Mace #2 with the trait is showing ticks of 63+32. If the Writ of the Merciful was indeed giving additional healing, I would have seen ticks of 69+32.
Maybe someone else can test this. I did a very, very rudimentary experiment lol.
It’s not about how skilled we are Liquid, it’s about how much more convenient it would be and how much more smoother (even if it was a little) it would be if we didn’t need to hold right cilck 24/7/365.
I’d like to bind my auto-attacks to mouse 1 and free up mouse 2 for another skill. The mouse itself will control camera angle so i don’t have to right click for kitten ever.
This thread isn’t about fronting. We couldn’t care less if you’re so much better at controlling the game. This thread is about making the game EASIER to control. I never understood the reason why we have to suffer holding mouse 2.
@Agemnon
DN controls are pretty much GW2’s without the right click hold. I think you’re misunderstanding my whole explanation.
That is the sole reason why GW2’s combat controls are sloppy. If you don’t use mouse 2, you’re kittening yourself. So in that moment when you need to switch targets, you’ve lost 100% efficiency in controlling your toon.
FluffyDoe I can totally agree that as long it’s fun, people will be playing.
But let’s not get off issue here. Holding Mouse 2 for extended periods of time is downright irritating and makes the combat in GW2 not as smooth as it should be.
