Mouse keeps getting ‘stuck’ while moving across the screen, the sensitivity is inconsistent.

I’m only having this issue in guild wars 2. It actually persists even when I minimize the game. When I close the client altogether, the issue stops. Sometimes if it’s waaaay too terrible, I restart my mouse and it can help…sometimes

It’s a weird issue. I suspected it may be hardware issue on my part but I don’t have this issue even one bit in any other games or applications.

Can pet names stay even when stowed?

When Anet first announced the Ranger class, they mentioned the pets will physically change appearance n such as they grow. But the pets feel really impersonal now especially because they dont even keep their names when stowed.

Can we have the pets’ names stay even after they’re stowed? Also, can we get little top hats for pets? :P

i dont agree with the proposed changes for berserker stance. it was one of few utilities that truly gave us the ability to gap close and act as a threat to classes like necro. now it’s worthless as you can be blinded, immobilized, feared, chilled and crippled all day long. most warriors would agree that the old berserker stance was better. i’d say 3 condi removal on top of the old mechanic is better.

i’m speechless. it’s definitely one of the worst attempts at improving a skill i’ve ever seen. now we can be blinded, immobilized, feared, and kited all day even more so than before. thank you, arenanet for ‘improving’ the skill.

The biggest issue with war is its survivability. Give them 10% dmg reduction like scrappers.

and the list goes on.

torch skills are clunky and ineffective

berserk stance wasn’t buffed, just changed (now we can get feared during necro meta and BLINDED, which is our death sentence you nerfed adrenaline)

rifle 4 evade was a good move but it’s clunky as hell (the only evade skill with a cast time)

make it so that berserk doesn’t have a rage cost but reduce its power or something

revert the dumb adrenaline nerfs made

The sad part is, no one – not the players, not the devs – is surprised at the PVP being broken, because that’s what happens when expansions come out.

The REAL depressing part is how long it will take for balancing patches to kick in. Arenanet is notoriously slow with implementing balance patches, with one coming every several months.

As the title says…

I’ve only played PVP since the beta. Anet is notoriously slow with the PVP balance updates but they were slowly getting there. But man, with the latest burning changes and the trait overhaul, what a huge mess they’ve created.

E-sport promises are long forgotten. That sort of expectations by the community is long gone now. But this mess is about to get even bigger when Revenant along with the specializations.

And a mess is not always a bad thing. Because a mess comes from changes and additions. And those are fantastic things. Just not when you have a balance patch every 6 months.

I’m guessing Anet will not be introducing any PVP balance patches until HoTS is out with all the specializations. So yeah – several months of a huge mess.

Just looking at some of the trait tiers, it’s hard to believe that this was created by people who have been playing this game for years. Were classes even tested? Just to use as an example – is it not obvious to even the newest players that giving eles 33% cooldown reduction on fire skills along with blinding ash and buffs to burning would make them ridiculously strong?

Changes are great. Additions are awesome. But seriously, Anet. You keep featuring these ‘pro pvp players’ on your front page. How about giving them minimum wage to actually give you some input on these changes before they’re implemented? Because all I see is just – pardon my words – arrogance from the devs by not receiving feedback prior to the implementations.

Prior to the release it was mentioned by the devs that Anet’s approach to PVP balance wasn’t simply hammering down what sticks out, but taking meticulous steps in implementing the carefully thought-out fixes. Who would’ve guessed (sarcasm) that it would mean that we would be receiving a feeble balance patch every several months.

tl; dr:

Anet should collaborate with top-tier players on balancing the tiers – as ALLsuccessful pvp games do – instead of dumping the responsibility on the very few devs that have failed us, the pvp community.

Did you literally have 0 condi removers? I mean, it’s not liek guardians have a ton of conditions, so it makes no sense to me as to how someone could take 24 ticks of burning from a guardian without having ever popped condition removal

To me this shows that the community is just desperate to complain about anything at all.

Well did you read any of the threads regarding the Dragonhunter (Not Dragon Hunter) name?

Some of the more logical reasons people disliked the name:

  • Cheesily trying to adhere to a 1-word naming scheme by squashing the name together instead of coming up with a 1-word name.
  • There is nothing themed after dragons or the hunting of dragons in the spec.
  • Slightly related to the above, nothing in the spec is at all more effective at hunting dragons than the base Guardian spec. i.e. traps aren’t good at ‘trapping’ dragons, arrows aren’t any better at killing dragons, defenses aren’t any better at protecting themselves from dragons and so on.
  • Too much context. Dragonhunters aren’t simply called that because they may hunt dragons every now and again. They are called that because it has ‘hunter’ in it and hunters use bows and traps, apparently. Similar to the 1st point, they choose this name for the context of ‘hunter’ more than ‘dragon hunter’ yet try to link in the obsession ‘witch hunters’ have at pursuing their prey…it becomes a mess.
  • There are just better/cooler sounding names out there.

1. If they’re complaining about the difference between Dragon Hunter and Dragonhunter that’s actually even more pathetic
2. There was nothing demon-hunting specific in the demon hunter’s skills Diablo or Warcraft
3. Also – there are ‘cooler’ names out there? Is this an argument put out by a 10 year old? The word ‘cooler’ itself is entirely subjective. All I see are kids throwing tantrums because the class name isn’t what they wanted it to be.

Also – another poster said above that not all of the Guild Wars 2 players have played Diablo/Warcraft so my point is invalid. My point is actually entirely valid regardless of whether or not the players have played only one of or both of the games:

From what I see from players’ reaction to the expansion’s price model, or the naming of the class, is that this community would basically complain about anything the developers put out. I thought the Blizzard community was crap and I was hoping I would never have to type this but maybe the Guild Wars 2 community should grow the kitten up and learn from the Blizzard community for once. (again, something I never even imagined seeing myself typing).

As the title says, it kinda boggles my mind.

As many of you know, Demon Hunter was a hero introduced into the Warcraft universe by Blizzard and it definitely wasn’t the issue there. Lore wise, sure, the demons were the ultimate enemies pulling the strings but a Demon Hunter killed many things other than demons.

In Guild Wars 2 universe, sure ultimately the enemies are the dragons, and they are seen killing non-dragon units.

So why was there no issue whatsoever with the Demon Hunter character and so much problem with the Dragon Hunter class?

To me this shows that the community is just desperate to complain about anything at all.

another thing that should be mentioned is that already, only a small portion of the player base is queueing with a premade party. to add to that, it’s not like they’re guaranteed to win either. so really, it is a rare occurrence that one would lose to a team because they met a premade team. to prove this, arenanet started looking at the game history of the qq thread starters – and what do you know. their ‘stats’ were vastly exaggerated.

I’m not as upset about facing a premade, as I am about the team I faced. I know my MMR isn’t that high. And I don’t believe anyone else in my team was either.

you’re very right about the balance being off in matching opponents. Just yesterday, Darres was on the other team. My teammates seemed to know him and I found out after winning against his team that he was 6th on the ladder (now 4th, I believe)

but hey, you lose nothing by facing these high rated players, and you have everything to gain, right?

you say that full pug should never face full premades… but then that’s basically saying premades should be ready to stare at their screen (specifically screen exclusively in heart of the mist ) for at least 20-30 minutes before the game starts.

divvying up premades and pugs is only feasible for the pugs. for the premades, it’s death sentence. this is made a hundred times worse at high level pvp. the queue time is already atrociously long even in the current state.

Impact on PVP with no stats from traits

As the title says

ANet just announced that with the expansion, you won’t receive stats from traits any more, mostly from items.

This obviously has a huge impact on the PVP (along with a million other things that were just announced) but the current amulet system would severely limit the stat variation we have in the game. Right now, you’re able to mix-n-match so that the amulet balances the stats you receive from traits (e.g. a d/d ele can go 00266 for very defensive trait stats, but use berserker amulet to still dish out a bit of damage).

I hope they address this issue!

I disagree. Very often I want to play with my guildies, who are completely new to PVP. I hate the hotjoin and I don’t want to lose rank points so we have to resort to unranked games. We lose the majority of our games and we don’t bother with voice chats. And I’m willing to bet these sort of ‘casual’ groups are the majority out there, out of all the premades.

27 if you only want the lavish llama, 40 if you want to unlock all versions of the llama.

that’s pretty upsetting so getting top 500 is basically meaningless now

Just as the title says… is this a bug, by any chance? just asking because I’m in a korean guild (there’s actually a big korean community in gw2!) where mac users have to type in english while the rest of the guild chat is in korean.

Let me elaborate… wiki states that currently, if you’re the high scorer in your team, it’s less likely that you’ll lose points when you do lose a ranked game.

This strongly discourages defending. I literally just had a game with a guy who was basically a bot who kept running far over, over, and over again to enemies’ home. He died countless times and contributed nothing but he got the highest point from decapping and hence will probably lose nothing. The fact that he’s even made it this far with his gameplay suggests there’s clearly something wrong with the way rank points are awarded.

The way I read the articles about leaderboards, etc. (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/finding-the-perfect-match/) was that it’s your TEAM’s final score in the match, and not you personally. So, if your team only has an odds of winning of 20-39%, then still if you get 300+ points in that match, you’ll come out with 0 or more points.

Not a hack.. there were quite a few ways to get out of the map but I thought all those methods were patched up.

it is a hack, actually. it’s a paid-for hack with a free trial. i personally know someone who’s tried the hack with the same effect (can go as high or low as you can, teleport around, etc.)

but let’s just say for a moment that it is NOT a hack. he’s obviously exploiting it to troll others in a game. that’s definitely a bannable offence.

Include: ele . That is why i will not buy expansion until these class are challenge with risk-reward. Not no challenge-reward only.

There is 5 other mmo game that will release expansion this year include next year: yes they are challenge, fun with risk-reward. I will not lose anything if Arena net continue to not make these class stay the way they are.

Based on your post you lack serious understanding of gw2 active combat. It might be better for anet and everyone else not to have you in pvp/wvw because all you’re doing is whining and posting situational videos on youtube without knowing why these builds work. Feel free to not play pvp/wvw because I’m sure the community doesn’t want you anyway.

Its more of this class is op so plz nerf and that class is op so plz nerf. You do not specify how or why those builds are op, on the video you do not consider that most of the time he/she was not on 1v1, nor was he/she fighting against people that use optimal build for roaming/1v1. You maybe a consumer, and you maybe unhappy, but if your reasoning is similar to that of an angry 5 year old, there is no value to it. Also have you ever heard of L2P? Maybe you didn’t because you never play pvp/wvw. That said, how can you judge certain build/certain class is op since you never played such mode?

Couldn’t you just do that with your team? That’s literally what I discuss with my team at the start of every match. Who does what and where.

very good point but I found that it’s actually very difficult to get organized with public players, especially because some players are resistant to defending (kinda like how like everyone wants mid / ranged dps in League of Legends).

It’s very easy to get organized if you have an arranged team, yes. But almost impossible in a public team (it’s hard to get pubs to defend home as it is, in conquest).

120 on each stat makes all the difference? Would you care to suggest a median that would be balanced? It seems clear to me that this is the current strongest amulet and that this stat total is the reason why

yea of course it makes all the difference. amulet is the majority of the stats in pvp and you wanna take away a quarter of it…. that’s even lower than the original stats for celestial, which was already considered weak…

Jae, one of the things I asked in my original post was what celestial was as I couldn’t remember (331 maybe?). I agree that 120 on each stat does make all the difference, but you didn’t address a stat value you would feel was balanced. I’d really rather have a constructive debate than shunning peoples opinions without any solutions though

im shocked you didn’t do a quick google search because it was literally the first link that showed it (wiki didn’t update to show the latest)

previously it was 376. only half the amount of decrease you proposed and still considered near worthless.
