I’ve been playing the D/F Auramancer meta build in PvP, and I was wondering why it’s D/F instead of D/D. D/D air has more high movement options in air attunement, which would seem to be better overall.

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, can someone please explain the PvP Game Browser to me? Is it just so a player can get in on an existing game quickly?

I see lots of people on them, but I’m not sure what those games get you compared to ranked games, which is what I usually play.

I’m returning to this game and trying to get Hero Points in HoT Zones to get my elite specialization. When I left months ago, guilds and/or individuals would list times for running a Hero Point train — usually on these forums.

I don’t see those now. Are those trains still happening?

Sorry if this is a noob question. I’m new to sPvP, and I’ve been using this build, which I’ve found to be really fun:

My question is this: the two recommended sigils are Superior Sigil of Leeching and Superior Sigil of Renewal. Both trigger on weapon swap, but elementalists can’t swap weapons in combat.

Can someone please explain why these sigils were chosen?

I’d like to join as a student. North American server. My elementalist just hit 80, and I’m seeking to do lots of dungeons. I’ve done story on most of the dungeons (except the level 80 ones)

I’m just returning to the game after a year away. I’ve been leveling a character and sometimes doing story dungeons. The offerings in LFG are really low, and many ask for experienced 80s for quick runs.

Do people use other options than guilds or the LFG screen to find people for a dungeon run? I seem to remember that there was a website people would use to find groups. Is that still being used now that there’s an LFG window?

Can anyone recommend a build for map completion/general PvE for a level 80 Guardian without an elite specialization? Some of the ones linked above require the elite specialization.

Hi all,

I have some blue and yellow items in my bags that I seem unable to salvage and also unable to sell. When i click on the salvage kit, it wont allow me to salvage these items, and when I go to a merchant, the items don’t appear in the sell window.

Do I just throw them away? Why am I unable to both not sell and not salvage these items? It seems like a poor decision on Arena net’s part and a waste of bag space.

So there’s no reason to go into Air, Earth, and Water?

I just came back to the game. I have a level 20 Elementalist who I wanted to raise to 80. Most of the leveling guides I’ve seen are outdated.

Does anyone have good suggestions for:
1) a leveling build
2) what weapons to use when leveling (many guides say staff); and
3) a good rotation?

I just joined the game after a year away. When I logged onto my Ranger, I saw the new skill tree and I trained him to get the first few abilities for his specialization, the Druid. I also received the Druid staff for my Ranger to use.

Here’s an easy question though: how does go from being a ranger to being a druid? I’ve looked through the interface for a button to push to make him a druid, but I can’t find one. Or do I need to put more points into his Druid abilities?

Any suggestions for builds that use SB/LB? If possible, are there builds that use those weapons and also use traps?

When I shoot arrows at graveling burrows (like in path 1), it usually says “Obstructed”, even if I’m right next to the burrow with nothing in the way.

Have you seen this, too? Do you usually use different weapons in this other than longbow/Shortbow?

I’m about to hit level 80, and I have enough tokens from the AC dungeon to buy all exotic AC gear and weapons.

What should I get? I’m open to new builds/weapons, because I know the AC options are limited. I generally just PvE and run dungeons.

Hi! I’m still leveling an don’t understand all the traits yet. Can anyone suggest a trait build for a new level 60 that can help guide me to 80? At 59, I was using 20/20/0/0/9 with signet mastery, piercing arrows, sharpened edges and quick draw.

What would you recommend as a dungeon build for a new level 80 Guardian? And what would be the type of armor I should aim for for that build?

Just started a necro. What weapons would you recommend when leveling? I’m trying staff + sceptre/warhorn. Any other recommendations?

How close to a dungeon’s entrance do I need to be to receive the window that says that my party is entering a dungeon? Can I be anywhere in that dungeon’s zone to accept and immediately enter the dungeon? Or do I need to be really close to the dungeon entrance?

I read in these forums that leveling a mesmer becomes much easier at level 40. Why is that? What skills/traits/etc do we get at 40 that makes leveling easier/faster?

I keep seeing references to a mantra build and a glamour build. I’m a new mesmer.

What are they?
How do their playstyles differ?
Are they recommended? It sounds like the shatter build seems better?

I’m still leveling my cute little mesmer. He’s only level 12 now, and I’m not sure if I’m doing things correctly at that level. I’ve read somewhere to level using GS and staff.

How should I start off fights? I know rotations aren’t what GW2 is about, but any suggestions of what buttons I should be mashing would be helpful.

My ranger is only level 15 or so. For most of that time, if I attack something, my bear would go after it. Once I hit “return to me”, and ever since then, whenever I attack something, I have to hit the bear’s F1 key to get him do more than sit around and watch me.

How do i get the bear to attack whatever I’m attacking without having to hit F1 again and again?

I just hit 80 on my first toon. I have about 8 gold and I just purchased all green gear. Partly because I don’t have a lot of gold, crafting doesn’t interest me that much.

How do I improve my gear? I don’t care much for new skins, just better stats. Do I now just run dungeons over and over and use the tokens/karma/gold to buy better gear?

I’ve only done 2-3 dungeons, which have been fun. My current guild only does WvW, and I find it boring to stay in Lion’s Arch and spam for story mode dungeons.

1)The dungeon/temple finder MUST NOT be cross realm(Its something else to play on dungeons with real life friends rather than people from other realms that you will not see them again!
2)Must not be like others mmorpg’s.I approve a dungeon finder that doesn’t instant teleports you to the dungeon!
3)No requirements for the dungeons!(I dont count on that the leveling part) Please don’t ever think to add something like gearscore on this game!

I disagree with all of these — especially the first one. I don’t care about grouping with people on my server or not. I only care about finding a group fast, and I’d rather take a group immediately instead of waiting 10-15min to find 4 others on my server to go.

I’m new to the elementalist (and to the game). My dag/dag ele is only at level 14 or so.

What is a good rotation when attacking a single mob or when attacking a group of mobs? I’ve heard that I should start out in air, but any info would be helpful.

This is one of the few MMORGs I’ve ever played that doesn’t have either a LFG channel, an LFG window, or something. It means that instead of playing the game, a player has to sit in LA and spam “LFG CM Story” or tab out and see the website for grouping.

How hard would it be to have a cross server LFG channel or an LFG window?

does anyone know?

I am level 40 and just ran my first dungeon, AC. I was told afterwards by my guild that the dungeon can only be run once a day. Is that true? Or can you only run one specific path of a dungeon per day?

If there are limits to how many times you can run a dungeon, is there somewhere on my hero screen that I can see what dungeons I’m ineligible for?

New player here. The last game I played was Rift, which had an excellent LFG system. Are the only ways that I get a group in GW2 for doing dungeons is:
- asking my guild
- asking in LA or whatever map I’m in
- adding the blue LFG tag on me?

Is there another way to find a group? And is using the blue LFG tag helpful?

When I look on the trading post for weapon upgrades, the only items that show up say “double-click to apply to an amulet, ring or accessory”. Why do these items appear when I set the search parameter for weapon upgrade? Can they also be used for weapons?

And if not, how do I find a weapon upgrade?

I just hit level 30, and so far I haven’t seen any back armor. I’ve done the personal story quests until my level, and I’ve looked on the trading post.

When do I get back armor?

New player here. When I have a blue item appear in my bag and I right click the “sell at trading post” option, the trading post window comes up and it always shows that many people are selling that item at only 1 copper more than if i sold it at a merchant. I usually try to sell at the lowest seller’s price.

For example, I find a greatsword that I could sell to a merchant for 27 copper, but when I look to sell it on the trading post, it says that 200 people are selling it already at 28 copper.

It’s happening so often that I’m suspicious. Why would anyone want to sell for just 1 copper more than you can get from a merchant? Or does this really mean that there are no items of this type currently for sale, and instead of telling you that, the computer is selecting just 1 copper above a merchant as a starting price on the trading post?

I’m still leveling and am only at level 27 now. I have about 6 jugs of liquid karma in the bank. Does it matter when I use them? Do I get more karma by using them at level 80 than at level 27? Thus, should I save them till level 80?

Hi All,

I’m new to GW2, and after trying out a few classes, I find that I like the Guardian the best. My Guardian is now up to level 22 or so.

I tried WvW for the first time yesterday and was a little lost. Some basic questions:
1) I think my stats get boosted to level 80. Do my armor and weapons, too?
2) Is leveling through WvW faster or slower than exploration and doing the storyline?
3) What are the rewards (besides XP) for doing WvW? I know that it provides bonuses for your server, but anything else?
