Yet another SotG w/o any mention of Brawn

How would u improve Brawn ?
What stats should offer ?

Like google siad , if u want Brawn to increase burst bonus by 30% , they have to nerf evething and <<force>> any warrior to spent 30 points in that tree if they want burst

Here, to clarify for those who missed the point entirely like the quoted above, this is about the warrior burst SKILL, the profession’s unique ability(ie Thief Steal, Necro Deathstroud, Ele Attunements, Ranger pet management, etc.)

NOT a warriors ability to dish out rapid damage which is the “burst” the quoted, and possibly a few others, think this is about lol.

No one is arguing a warrior isn’t capable of dealing high amounts of damage. No one here is arguing for an across-the-board +30% damage buff to all warrior attacks. This is only about Brawn which increases the damage of ONE ability on each weapon, the “Burst Skill”, by a meager .1% per trait point with a max of 3% for 30 points. Therefore, they would not “have to nerf everything” if it were boosted to give 30% like it used to. If anything they would just tune specific burst skills which may benefit too much from it(Evis/killshot).

My opinion on this is that Brawn currently has a negligible bonus and should definitely be changed to something more substantial. I like the condition duration reduction idea, but I think the 30% condition duration reduction would be too much; I think that’s enough to nullify certain traits on other professions, causing more issues.

Condition duration reduction even works with the “theme” if thats a major concern with ANET. A brawny person by definition would strong and tough so it fits great thematically with some sort of passive defensive buff against conditions, if thats an issue they are having.

Give us a reason to use adrenaline and gain adrenaline stacks. There is nothing that gives us anything when we get stacks of adrenaline, but there are traits that give us more stacks? Why? Have us deal additional damage or heal every time we get a stack of adrenaline and give us a reason to use burst.

Berserker’s Power gives more power per adrenaline bar, Heightened Focus increases crit per adrenaline bar, Adrenal Health regens ~300 hp at max adrenaline, Healing Surge’s heal is increased by current adrenaline levels and increases it back to max, GS burst skill gives fury for 15 seconds on use, sword burst provides a 4s immobilize, Longbow burst puts out a large fire field, Mace burst gives a 2 sec stun, Rifle burst has possibly the absolute highest single attack damage in the game at full adrenaline with wvw crits on glass 80s reaching over 15k in a SINGLE, ranged hit, unlike 100b which is a channelled, self-rooting melee attack that requires every hit to land to reach its full potential. It can also have the same cooldown as well if u have a lot of adrenaline regen…

I stopped reading after the above quote since clearly there are MANY uses for adrenaline stacks and burst skills already, even though many of them may not be worth the adrenaline they use due the traits Berserker’s Power and Heightened Focus.

Need a reason to use burst? Longbow AoE fire is great against pesky stealth thieves.

Got a runner, say the same thief is hiding in refuge? Use Hammer burst to close the gap and knock him down and follow it up with hammer 4 to knock him out of it.

Need to snare someone? Use Sword burst for the 4s immob, then swap to your GS and hundred blade him down.

Someone casting a powerful ability? Try a mace stun.

Need a quick high power attack? Eviscerate.

Need fury for what ever reason? GS burst.

Someone is nearly dead and running away? Killshot the coward.

Again, lots of uses, some of which can be tied into other abilities to make powerful combos(see sword snare+100blades).

Lol swinging your weapon around “randomly” in an area that a thief just stealthed in isn’t cluelessness. You’ve got the whole thing backwards. The ones who just stand still when the thief disappears are the dumb ones. The ones who you think are panicking and swinging randomly are actually searching for you with thier autoattack chain, and as soon as one hit connects, they now know where to drop their AOE or other similar attacks.

All the thiefs are gone ????

Um what exactly are you talking about? You didn’t post any sort of build so your questions about "Also, if I take 5 more points out of discipline " make little sense and we can’t give you a real opinion. You didn’t say what type of gameplay you’re in either(dungeons/wvw/spvp)

Are you using a greatsword with deep cuts(lol)? IMO, in PvP there are much better traits(like the vuln on crit) and traiting for increased bleed duration when your weapon doesn’t have a reliable source for stacking them seems very unwise.

And if I remember correctly, Empowered is only better than Empower Allies if you have over 6 boons on you at all times.

WvW 1hand sword build? I'm stuck with Bolt.

in Warrior

Posted by: Jonny.9370

Jonny.9370

For off hand I experimented with mace/shield/axe and sword. Axe lacks mobility which makes those 1v1 fights impossible.

I find Axe offhand pretty, um, lackluster? I mean the Axe4 only gives you about 8 seconds of Fury on a class that you pretty much have permafury so theres that and Whirlwind seems strong visually but at the end of it I find I’ve only done 5-10k on a 20 second cd. I do more than that with GS autos lol.

But if your issue with it is mobility, and since you already have tactics picked up, you could try traiting in to Leg Specialist for the snare provided by sword3 Hamstring(assuming you still use Bolt for you mainhand), if you haven’t already. Not saying its the best but it could help with people running from you. I use Axe/Mace and the trait makes Axe #2 a ranged snare/slow combo helping me close distance. If the snare alone isn’t enough then I can smack them with mace5, another ranged KD/stun.

Main hand sword… I got nothing except maybe spvp hotjoin “idgaf” builds..

I know what to do with refuge, but I don’t have infinite AoEs (unless I’m on my GS warrior) or AoE knockbacks.

If you want an idea of where my personal skill level is at, this a vid of me fighting a (bad) thief on my Ele alt.

He could have easily gotten away after the first refuge then repeatedly came out of stealth to attack without healing up. Finally, he SRed INSIDE of my already channeling Churning Earth. If he was halfway competent there would have been no way for me to kill him.

5 day old post but Churning Earth can be dodged.

That is all. Good day all.

@Jonny.9370 and @Daecollo.9578
There is a massive difference between reacting to something you can actually see being performed and simply guessing what they will perform next.

But how do you know to expect a bullrush and look for it from a warrior? Experiance has taught you that most warriors will prep 100b with a snare. You have adapted and this is no longer an issue. My argument is why do people refuse to apply this to thieves as well?

I am not some sort of elitist and will never profess to be some sort of pro, and I don’t want to come across as someone trying to say L2P, but even I know that there are counters to the BackStab. Especially as a thief player myself. One thing I do notice is often times people will see me then suddenly go on the defensive, before the fight even begins. My GC in WvW has a little over 10k hp with 104 crit damage and 14k with 62 crit dmg in sPVP. If you come to me as glass, you will die in 2-4 seconds, but the same goes for me. In other words, don’t always wait for me to initiate because that automatically puts me at an advantage.

I have to say, however, trying to think of it from other perspectives has lead me to think that maybe if Steal was not on a seperate GCD from everything else, there would be less of an issue. As it is now, Mug and CnD occur simultaneously and puts you in the perfect position for BS, effectively nulling the cast time of CnD where you would be visible to the opponent. I think that is what you are trying to tell me.

The thing is, you can see the warrior throw a bola. You can see the warrior bull’s charge at you. You can even use a stunbreaker or condition removal to get out of either of them if you failed to evade them. You can see the Hundred Blade’s and dodge roll, block, hit distortion, teleport, etc. depending on your class. People have nothing to indicate even a 0.5 second before when you are going to backstab them. That is the difference. I can react to something that I can see. I cannot react to something that I cannot see except by trying to guess when you are going to backstab or, depending on class, using something like Ride the Lightning to get the hell away from where you stealthed, but that’s letting the Thief force a reset on the fight.

My series of rhetorical questions were to convey that if you think about what is happening, you can avoid it. Sure you can’t see the animation, but you did see the thief vanish right? You did see he had basilisk, correct? If not, then stealth is irrelavent since a warrior has the same advantages as the thief if the enemy is completely unaware.

More importantly, I was also trying to show how much “guesswork” is involved in the game. I play Warrior very often. As a matter of fact, I have more time on the Warrior than the Thief. With my 100b set up, I could bull rush you at the very start, especially if you don’t even know I am there. I can hit you with bolas from close range. I can root you with Pin Down then swap to GS to fire off the hundred blades. I can use Hammer burst to stun then follow that with the GS. There are a multitude of abilities I can use to ensure I catch you with the 100 blades.

It is up to you to figure how I am going to strike and when, and to mitigate that damage as best you can. IMO it is no different against thieves. There are times where I will not fight someone unless I have the right weapon set/traits because I know I will lose. For example, when in hotjoin, if I have determined a guardian to be a bunker, I will switch to S/D and drain him and outlast him the best I can by removing conditions with Infiltrators and dodging with both endurance and Flanking Strike. Sure I can run at him headfirst and then complain that this bunker took no damage from my BS combo, but you and I both know how stupid that is.

On my Warrior, built for toughness and hammer use, I can literally eat the backstab and 2 heartseekers, then laugh as I regen through shouts and heals, summarily pounding the living crap out of the thief with chain CCs.

Is the BS build highly effective? Absolutely. But it is NOT an IWIN button. Another poster, whose only purpose in life seemed to be to get thieves nerfed, came in here and asked “How do I 2 shot people?” He actually created a thief to see for himself what thieves can “do”. That right there was funny to me on its own. Someone who consistently bashed thieves for being cheap and OP, going so far as to suggest various nerfs, never actually played one. To his surprise, he was unable to reproduce these 14k Backstabs he had previously claimed to be so easy and OP. And that’s how I picture most of these other posters. The call for nerfs and have this image of theives being invincible killing machines that require no thought.

a poor TD;DR — There are ways to avoid it and ways to counter. If not, then how does anyone die as a thief?

It seems the issue is the class requires more than Press Tab+mash keyboard to fight against.

Every second post on here is “I cant see the thief; why is he invisible; thief has too much stealth”

The reason I think tPVP players don’t have an issue with thieves is probably because they actually think instead and don’t rely on tab-target+skillspam to beat their enemies. The majority of ^these^ people( the whiny children on the forums), however, seem to think thats the only way to play GW2 and anything that makes that more difficult is OP.

How do I dodge CnD when it’s something I can’t see, you say? Well how am I supposed to know whether you are going to hundred blades me immediately or wait till I blow CDs? Are you going to use Bull’s Charge or maybe swap on hammer/mace/shield stun? How will I ever know how when to use my stunbreaker? How do I know what traps you are dropping and when? How do I guess when you decide to shatter your clones? How do I know that my burst won’t be completely negated by your blurred frenzy? How am I supposed to burst if you are just going to pop a pushback as soon as I start? How am I supposed to fight if you are just going to pop fear if I get close?

See? I can whine about how this game makes me think how I fight other players rather than have every fight an A+B=C encounter, too.

And, no, there is currently no way to transmute the cultural armors to be usable by other races other than their own.

Just pick which ever race you want. I love my Norn thief, it just felt right.

Agreed..

Although I do sometimes wish they would’ve tweaked some of the animations and sounds of the norns. I really dislike the long ‘yeeerrrgh’ grunt that follows some attacks like Flanking Strike, for example.

Thief Attacking while stealthed?

in Thief

Posted by: Jonny.9370

Jonny.9370

I had the same problem too. I’m a thief and I know this class very well. Just few days ago I played 1vs1 versus a thief (alone in the map). The first 3 match I killed him easly (he was quite a noob) but at one point all changed. He was always stealthed for very very long time before the battle (so never hit me with C&D for sure) and always killed me with 1 PW and always with quikness (ther’s no build that can have always quikness every 10/15 seconds not even with critical haste). The only difference was that he reappear after first hit as usual.
U ask if Ur enemy was a cheater? Mine was for sure… and I think that also for ur thief

I’ve run a haste build before with haste on sigil, haste on runes (Orrion), haste in traits and haste itself (the skill). It’s not particularly good but when everything works within a single 60 second window it does appear like it’s up most of the time.

I tried this build too and yes, with so much lucky he would be able to trigger always quickness but the point is that he was stealthed before every match for at least 40 seconds in the capricorn map in sPVP (I repeat: we was alone in the whole map and sharks was mine). maybe he used Black Powder+heartseeker combo to gain stealth without hit me with C&D. 40/50 seconds stealthed before every match is a long time and then he suddenly reappear and kill me with PW. This happened 5 times in succession trying different tactics and approach to win but unsuccesfully.
I think there could be some cheater and we met two of them. That’s my opinion.
All U can do is just report him and still have fun

What were his weapon sets? You say he used PW on you. That tells me he was using Sword/Pistol weapon set. You also say he disappeared for upwards of 40-50 seconds, then reappears after the very first hit just to disappear again for long periods. You know what that sounds like to me? Infiltrator’s Strike. I think you allowed yourself to be fooled by simple #2 sword spam.

Quickness can proc from crit haste, from utility, and from runes/sigils. Those could explain how he seemed to have it at all times. I sometimes use Rage gear on my warrior and have quickness proc 2-3 times in a fight from that and traits.

Anyway, are you sure this was WvW or was it sPvP? Because you contradict yourself in the op and they are 2 completely different game modes and there are things you can do in WvW that are impossible in spvp(cnd critters, heavy culling abuse, etc.)

And I doubt he was using unload on you. Any thief running heavy stealth with a pistol is going to use Sneak Attack instead.. theres absolutely no reason I can think of for using Unload while stealthed.

Well in addition to everything above, also find an enemy with light armor and no toughness whatsoever.

It’s funny that people like that mesmer build for FULL offense and then get rolled on by another full offensive player and come on the forums like they’ve been wronged. I’ve been taken out nearly as fast by mesmers shattering all their clones at once, causing over 14k damage in an instant, as an AOE. Not because the ability is overpowered, but because I did NOTHING to reduce the damage I took.

…It’s like jumping into a boxing ring with no mouthguard, losing your teeth, and then blaming the other guy for his Falcon Punch to your jaw.

I agree with the idea that the dungeons should be easily soloable by 1 player, but I do NOT agree with the OPs idea that all rewards should remain the same. Easier content should never have the same rewards as more difficult content. That’s a rediculous idea and is what most people posting here looked over.

Only STORY mode should be soloable and have its rewards removed, with maybe an exception made for the first play through. The story modes tie into your characters personal story and show you the evolution and growth of each member of Destiny’s Edge as they come to terms with what happened in the first GW, culminating in the final PS quest in Arah where you are FORCED to group to see the ending of something that was supposed to be a personal adventure.

Also note that my thief is a norn so the daggers are quite a bit larger than they would be on the smaller races. And for anyone who isn’t a thief, the blue/black/red streaks are not a part of the weapon’s particle effect.

I mean, nearly all his attacks are AOEs and keep a heavy stream of conditions coming my way steadily eroding my 14k health pool. And I downed him immediately after I was downed. I laughed it off since I was SUPPOSED to lose in that situation, came close to actually winning, and he felt like a big shot for so narrowly defeating me.

As a thief you can never win. You are always cheap and a noob if you win; cheap and a noob if you lose.

Playing the class carries the stigma that you suck. That’s my gripe with this community, but it’s an idea and ideas are nearly impossible to change, especially when they are allowed to propogate in an environment where people are looking for any excuse to blame another for their inadequacies.

The overused 100b builds also have their place as well. My warrior is able to take out dolyaks and vet guards relatively quickly solo, and it works ok for prodding the enemy front when fighting zerg v zerg if you don’t get CC’d before you can fire off the combo and retreat.

Banners can help a bit with swiftness, extra healing, giving steady fury+crit damage to classes that are less furious, and stability+revive on Battle Standard is pretty nice too.

I think the signet passive is for longer fights(dungeons) where the constant healing would be better than the single instant heal from withdraw/HiS. The signet use is probably meant to be an “oh kitten” button for instances in which you took a little too much damage and need some sort of quick hp boost to gtfo.(withdraw is better at this anyway though).

I personally haven’t used the signet since like september when I first unlocked it and wanted to try it out, so I’m probably wrong about it lol.

That means I’m not serious. Hence the reference to friggin dragonbaII z and Family Guy lmao. Thanks for the incredible facts that I TOTALLY care about like how shadowstepping is magic.

But here, for the sake of argument, I’ll engage you in some debate. If thieves use magic, then what is the point of all the tangible, “real” tools like traps, applied weapon poisons, smoke bombs, throwing weapons, etc.? The majority of abilities suggest they use no magic at all. It does not say shadow magic. All it says is they use surprise and shadows to sneak to their enemies. There are many games out there where the protagonist does exactly this, without any supernatural help.

The Warrior’s signets could also be explained as little hierlooms/trophies whose power only comes from the warrior’s attachment to them. Similar to how some people believe listening to music makes them play better or work out harder. Or religious people see thier religions charms as good luck.

Also, Canthan Assassin afaik is a thief only in that their abilities are similar. I believe Thief was advertised as a completely new profession.

There’s many ways to look at this, and unless ANet comes out and directly states, “Thieves use magic”, there’s nothing I see that proves it.

Or maybe thieves just work really, really hard and have developed natural agility and sneakiness(?) throughout the course of their lives? Shadow step only looks like a teleport since you are a normal person. You know like in DBZ where everyone would look like they are teleporting and moving at the speed of light to us normal humans, but the other Z-fighters who were trained could follow the fight clearly like it was a normal boxing match. And shadow refuge might be a thief saying to an area “Guys sit still. Thier vision is based on movement…”

How difficult would adding race changes be?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jonny.9370

Jonny.9370

2) Resetting your story makes no sense story-wise. One moment you’re a human born under nobility, and the next moment you are a sylvari born from the pale tree? I can understand stuff like hair changes, but this is plain surreal.

Resetting the story would, well, reset the story. In other words, after the change, you were NEVER a human as far as the story is concerned. It would be like leveling a character to 80 through crafting only and starting your story then.

Also, I kind of find it humorous when people use real world logic for a fantasy game as a counterpoint to things like race changes. I’m a feline/bovine sentient creature who speaks [English/French/Italian/etc. depending player’s region], can shoot lightning and fire from my hands, take a greatsword to the face and keep on running, and change my entire physical appearance including gender, but the race change is the unbelievable/outlandish one, eh?

Anyway, I’m not expecting the feature, either. No subs means all money is from sponsors and gems store. And the gems spent on buying more inventory slots, XP boosts, Gem-Gold conversions, etc. that typically comes with new characters is probably what they are after.

This is what was said about stealth for the Thief, when it was first revealed:

(watch from 2:50 to 3:21)

Interview (http://kotaku.com/5780900/the-guild-wars-2-thief-is-a-rogue-like-none-other):
“Stealth in Guild Wars 2 runs on a timer, which would allow you a few precious seconds of Initiative recharge before the enemy uncovers you again.

The wise Thief player will know when to retreat and recharge."

“Players are used to going toe-to-toe with monsters, and the Thief is built around hopping in-and-out of combat. If you don’t know when to back off, you’re going to die.”

Here’s the description of stealth from wiki:
“Stealth — Thieves have access to multiple skills which, for a short duration, make them invisible to enemy players and avoid aggro of hostile NPCs. While stealthed the thief is not targettable, but can still be damaged by attacks which hit them, and attacking from stealth will break the deception.”

And from the 14th december update notes:
“Thieves are the masters of mobility, stealth and high single target damage. They can be very fragile if you counter their stealth with area of effects or large stacks of conditions, but they trade this fragility in order to have some of the highest burst damage in the game. They are able to help allies through traps, venoms and the mobility to flank most encounters.”

Now look at these resent videos I picked randomly from YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9grDRzNT_wg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4m2mGDUL38
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7OYniHrGqE

The thing to notice about these videos isn’t only that the Thief is able to have stealth up for what seems to be next to permanently, but also how easily the Thief is able to escape once low on health. That shadow stepping makes the Thief able to easily escape AoE attacks and snares. That with Cloak and Dagger the Thief can keep stealth up without any lose to playstyle, thanks to the fast recharge of initiative. That “Revealed” is not a hinderance for the Thief at all, because the three seconds that the Thief can’t stealth, is the time that’s spend on attacking anyway. That the Thief don’t have to use their utilities for anything, other then gaining more stealth. And that on top of all of this, the Thief can also use skills like Dagger Storm to avoid damage, or Thieves Guild as pseudo clones for distraction.

This is how the majority of Thieves play: Stealth to get the upper hand and maximum damage on first attack, attack for three seconds until Revealed has passed, gain stealth again to regain positioning on your foe, attacking him again when he’s got his back turned, keep attacking him as he tries to run away with 20% health left, alternatively use shadow stepping or cripple to stop him from escaping, stealth again when he’s downed so he or an ally can’t stop you from stomping him, and then stealth/shadow step away, or start attacking the ally who was trying to help the foe you just stomped. If three or more players finally do manage to get you down to low health; use shadow stepping/Dagger Storm/Thieves Guild to get away, go back into stealth to make your foes lose track of you, hide until your health is restored, proceed to attacking again.

Am I the only one who can see the contradictory between how ArenaNet wants the Thief to play, and how it is actually played? I’m not sure how anyone (other then a Thief maybe) can justify stealth, for the Thief, as being balanced. I mean, how are you suppose to fight a profession that you can’t see for 80% of a fight, and who can easily escape you during the 20% window where you actually do see him? How is this fun to play against?

The thief counters don’t work.

AoE and large stacks of conditions can only be used when you know the thief is there (and conditions have to be used while it is visible!) and by then you are dead.

Maybe I’m not watching the same videos, but what I just saw was 1 thief using his stealth to avoid damage and engage/disengage to recover and still get demolished by a ranger with AOEs, a second thief who used his abilities to flank a mindless zerg to pick off a weak upscaled player, and finally a thief who knows his class and is, as far as I can tell, very experienced, working with a team to slowly pick off the weak in an unorganized mess of a zerg.

In other words, I saw thief gameplay exactly as advertised…

Once you start running, however, the sword sort of ‘shifts’ and instead of being held at the grip, it looks as if you are holding it at the pommel. When you stop running, the sword slides/slips back to its normal position in the character’s hand. Attached screens show character stationary with weapon held properly and character running with the sword being held at the pommel.

Images were taken at night so sorry if it may be difficult to see.

Annoying Sound Bug

Not recently, but I’ve also had the same issue. Just posting in case they are keeping some sort of tally. Only seems to happen in really large groups(ie WvWvW). No actual full game crash either. Last time it happened, I turned down my speakers so that I couldnt hear it and kept on playing for hours lol.

Restarting GW2 fixes it for me. Maybe it’s like an overload somewhere that if you have too many of a certain pitch sound or something it kicks out the sound entirely into this low wavering tone? Not particularly tech savvy.. that probably sounded stupid.

give us the warriors all buffs elite

Warriors don’t have an “All buffs” elite. Every class can do what the warriors are doing if they wanted to. I’m not gonna tell you what it is though cuz I don’t feel like being helpful :P

And the reason they probably don’t release patch notes early is because all the QQ that occurs after the patch, will just start occurring before it. No, don’t buff class X. Why nerf class Y. How come no fix for bug Z? Wut u mean new subscription policy?

Right, and all I’m saying is, if solo que gets implemented I won’t be able to pug free tournaments with a friend or two, we’d always have to have a full team because no one would solo que team Free Tournaments, everyone would soloque Solo ques :/
team v team would basically be like paid.. for elite teams only, and paid would never pop ever.

Add MMR to individuals, rate teams based on their total score, then pair them up in tourneys.

You can have your partial team plus 2 randoms and still have a balanced, and therefore a generally more entertaining, match when the game selects a team of equivalent rating. This isn’t about banning players with a couple friends from playing in tourneys. It’s about stopping the full pre-mades from roflstomping you and your 2 friends because the other 2 teammates don’t have much experience or aren’t on skype/mumbler/vent/ts with you.

How ANet decided to create an “E-Sport” game and no regulation as to who competes against who is beyond me.

Imagine if the New York Yankees were allowed to join championships in Little League baseball? And these pros beat down the kids and got rewarded for it? Unacceptable right? Thats why they are seperated into Major League and Little League baseball. A kid grows and becomes a great ballplayer, he gets pushed up to the majors. That’s what it should be here as well, but it isn’t.

You play 1 match against another group of randoms. Round 2 for most teams ends up being another match against slightly better randoms. Fine so far. Close match ups. Round 3 you are now up against a pre-made who has been winning all day and probably there because they ran out of paid tourney tickets. You just lost 100-500. GG now go repeat the cycle.

Cultural gear and crashing

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Jonny.9370

This is something I have already experienced myself and it seems that currently there is nothing they can do.

The following is from my own support ticket I submitted on the matter:

Hi there,

Thanks for the updates!

As it turns out, the crash bug that you are experiencing is a known issue that is currently being addressed by the development team. I do not have an estimated date as to when the bug will be fixed at this time.

As for the PvP Remove Dye feature, the colors that you are describing are the base colors for the armors of a Warrior and a Thief, respectively. If you had dyed your armor at any point in the past, then using the Remove Dye feature will return your armor to its base colors. The PvE dye issue that you are describing though is a bug which I have reported to the development team. Thank you for letting us know about it!

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Cheers,

GM (removed for his privacy)

My particular armor set was cultural tier 3 which is very bothersome since the whole point of it is for looks and now it looks like crap. There goes 120g down the drain.

[January] Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?

I’ve found an issue with the Primeval Pauldrons shoulder equipment.
Dyes on the item cannot be changed or removed, whenever dyes are attempted to change it has no effect and subsequently, unequipping the pauldrons or equipping another shoulder item causes the game to crash.

I don’t believe a screenshot is needed for this matter since it’s not a clipping issue but a game bug. Also I wouldn’t know what to screenshot beside the crash report window.

Did a search for “Bugged Armor” on the forums and found a thread 2 months old describing this same thing.

Can we get this fixed already?

Jonny.9370

I understand Norns are supposed to be 9’ tall towers of pure muscle and all but why was the decision made for them to run like clumsy oafs? Walking seems fine. They move with purpose and look confident. The run animation, however, is like I am about to fall flat on my face at any moment. I mean, my characters arms are always out like he’s bowing up, swings them like he’s got arthritis, and trots around like “hurr derr wait up gais.”

Sword swings look very… limp? Like he doesn’t really want to attack and is scared of hitting something. Funny with an offhand weapon since it looks like he’s actually covering his eyes.

Also, my norn thief(which is first character since launch day so I’m not deleting it :P) Death Blossoms like a ballerina. Humans/sylvari/asura front flip and spin over their opponent. Charr dive in a cyclone through their opponent. My norn decides to pirouette with a tutu. What the hell is up with that?

That’s a well-known bug regarding any and all Transmuted Cultural sets, sadly…

My Norn’s transmuted cultural set works just fine. On this particular character it does not. I used an ingame item for its intended purpose on another high cost item and it broke it to the point that removing said armor causes the game to crash. This is unacceptable.

Yes. All files verified and crashing still occurs. Can’t change colors on my 120g armor set and removing it to swap to another set crashes the game.

This happens everytime, without fail, when I try to remove my bugged armor. I posted in the art/armor bugs lists as well since my first indication something was wrong was my armor colors would not save. I decided to just brush it off and continue playing with another set, but then found that removing the bugged armor will crash my game. The issues began immediately after using a Fine Transmute stone to combine Charr Tier 3 heavy armor set skin with Berserker’s Draconic armor set stats.

Edit:

I don’t know if this is relevant or if it will even help, but here is the Armor bug thread where I posted. I also attempted to show with screenshots the issue with the Dye system as well.

Race: Charr
Gender: Male
Profession: Warrior

Item: Charr Tier 3 Cultural Heavy

Bug: When I first purchased the armor, it held any color settings I entered into the Dye Mode window(in other words, working as intended). I transmuted the gear and now the dyes that were selected before the transmute can no longer be placed in the same spot.

For example, before transmute I had gold in the upper slot on the helm. Selecting gold again and closing the window causes it to revert to “Dye Remover”.

Another thing is that “Dye Remover” now instead of removing dyes, turns my armor into the color it was before the transmute.

Lastly, attempting to unequip all the armor will cause the game to crash.

The attached images show what it should look like, what it becomes after closing the window, and what it looks like when I attempt to “remove” the dyes. Notice how the Gold and Earthen dye locations get reverted to “Dye remover” but repainting with the dye remover will actually fill them back in with the desired colors.

cant change color of Pants on Messmer

I have the same issue on my Warrior except its the whole armor set. I can’t save any colors period. I purchased the Charr T3 heavy armor and colored it to my liking and forgot all about the stats. I then remembered I wanted to transmute them for different stats, and as soon as I did that, all my colors vanished and won’t hold any settings I set now, same as you.

I’ve changed them all to ebony, exited the color screen, and it reverted back to “Dye Remover”. I tried changing them to exactly what I had before the transmute and again “Dye remover”. Funny thing is, if I pick the dye remover from the top to “remove” the dye, it actually paints my character to the colors I last had before the transmute. It still doesn’t stick though. I then tried to unequip the armor and when I removed it all, my game crashed.

Anyone have any idea whats going on?

EDIT:
I went back to change more colors and it looks like my colors are bugged to specific slots. If before the transmute I had gold on head section A and I try to paint it gold again, it won’t save, but any other color in its place works.

This really sucks, 120g for armor and I can’t even use the colors I wanted on it.

Charr Cultural Weapons.

I’ve been thinking of grabbing one of the T3 weapons, but when I looked in the preview window at them, they are all EXTREMELY underwhelming. I mean, visually they are like maybe one step up from regular trash drops from level 1-10 creatures. I’d say that the Tier 2 stuff looks way better so this doesn’t add up in my mind.

Which leads me to my question; is there a hidden particle effect that isn’t shown in the preview screen? I’m told that Sylvari cultural weapons look very plain in the preview, but actually have a glow or something that isn’t shown in the preview screen.

I’ve seen several weapons that look one way in preview and then different when actually used, so I’m hoping this is the case with a weapon that is only of rare quality and costs ~60k karma..

Great post. A couple choice suggestions in there that I don’t agree with because they seem OP or crippling to certain classes at a glance to me.

Stacking retaliation seems it could go wrong to me if it is implemented poorly because I think it could turn some builds into a ‘pop retal and wait ftw’ set-ups. I used to do it against inexperienced, really bad Rogues in WoW with my Warrior. I’d wait for their opener then pop Retaliation which worked kind of like it does here, and the rogues would literally end up killing themselves. Funny stuff to see.

Stacking blinds seems like a great idea sure, but what happens when a thief uses Unload twice in Black powder and stacks 5-10 blinds on you rendering your next 10 attacks useless unless you cleanse it? On the flipside for thieves, how would the #3 downed work? Currently #1 also puts out a cripple. A second movement limiter seems redundant.

I think those 2 may be my only concerns with what you have here. If I may, a suggestion to add? Instead of a heavy target dummy with x10 normal hp, or even in addition to, how about a dummy with an infinite health pool? Say if you needed lots of numbers for number crunching, I think it would be better to do it all at one dummy without interruptions like waiting for it to respawn.

Anyway, the ones I really liked were the clearer name plates and the replacement of the Ruins capture point in Capricorn. Top deck of the ship seemed like the obvious location it should’ve been to me as well. So obvious infact, that I don’t understand how in the hell they decided otherwise. Trying to squeeze in underwater combat into PvP?

Lol every single game with any sort of competition will have people screaming hax at each other. To me it just boosts my ego to have people convinced im cheating when I really am not. For example, according to some idiots I’ve come across, all my controllers in fps games have modded controllers, I aimbot and also a noob rusher/camper. All those stupid unfounded accusations just make me think “wow am I that good?”

Simply put, laugh it off or just ignore it. And I think its safe to assume that ANet, like all gaming companies, don’t take kindly to people filling their boxes with false reports. So the people who actually reported you for nothing(assuming u were legit) will most likely be dealt with accordingly

Why Isn't There a TPvP Sub forum

Jonny.9370

I never said the tactics were the same. I made a long post trying to explain something that I can now explain in 1 sentence thanks to daydream lol. TPvp IS SPvp(which means structured pvp, not just hotjoin whether u think it does or not)

Nothing is stopping you from discussing tactics. As I said in my original post, the traffic simply doesn’t warrant a subforum to sort it. I mean, look, 7 posts in 24hrs and this is still on the first page.

Why Isn't There a TPvP Sub forum

in PvP

Posted by: Jonny.9370

Jonny.9370

We need a dedicated place to discuss the in’s and out’s of TPvP as it is completely different to SPvP in every way..

How? Explain this to me since I don’t get it. It’s 5v5 right? Everyone plays with a team versus another team selected at random(until later in the tourney where the better ones continue), right? Both teams still fight on the same 3 maps with the same goal of 500 points total first wins, right? Sure your bars are locked during tournaments but is that really such a radical change?

TPvP is structured pvp. Hotjoin is structured pvp. Therefore, it is ALL structured pvp which is why there is only one SPvP forum for it all. The only reasons for there to be a seperate forum is if the rules for hotjoin and tourneys radically change requiring completely different tactics and teams(I guess think WoW BGs vs Arenas if you played WoW), or if the amount of threads produced by the forumgoers that center on only one or the other becomes so great, that its required in order to maintain, well, order.

I’ve seen boards where posts would be bogged down to 3rd page about 5 seconds after posting it. That’s when subforums makes sense. Wanting a different forum because you may feel that you are superior to the n00bs, and don’t even want to discuss anything around them, is not.

Edit: I think my post sounds very accusative.. sorry I don’t mean it to.

It’s one of those things that I think reinforces the Zerg gameplay seen everywhere in the game. XvX never occurs in this game, it’s always something like a 3:2 ratio. Also, not really complaining about this, but one more thing to add to your point; I’ve gotten ‘lucky’ and ran into a group of 3 players with low hp, downed them all at the same time with 100blades, then summarily got pelted with downed abilities until I too was down. Fears, knockbacks, and the simple downed attack compounded by multiple people centered on the one guy left standing sucks.
