any of you people posting kitten around here are actually capable of judging a build/class or doing some basic tests?

it’s really not hard:
- put full zerk on you
- autoattack with axe for 10 seconds – add up how much dmg you did
- then add up how much dmg the minions did in 10 secs

guess how much they do.
- on average around 3x times more dmg than you in full zerk

so yes, you can be a good dps with minions in dungeons

Why do they have to leave the game? There is 6g leaving the game when I extract them, there is the gem price to get the item in the first place. There is TP tax when they change owners. People will always make new alts or change build, there are always the new players.

Putting such a high gold cost on testing builds is what’s keeping the meta stale and boring. People would be more willing to try new things if it didn’t mean losing a huge amount of gold every time.

Just out of curiosity, a question to those that would like to be able to salvage all their superior runes and sigils from all gear:

What kind of mat sink would you suggest for sup runes and sigils instead?

Isn’t the gem price and gold price per use enough?

As it stands, there are very few things veteran players who play a lot would spend gems on. At the start of the game I got a lot of gems for real money, probably more than the average player, but getting close to 5k hours of play, not anymore.

If I need a second set of strength runes I will just wait and gather gold for a while and just be frustrated they won’t let me use the ones I already have on another character I`m not playing anymore.

Then I will destroy the old armor hating Anet for making do that.

The only way they’re ever getting any more gems for real money from me at this point is if they show respect to veteran players by removing big frustrations like this. (or if they finally add official GvG to the game, but that’s another thread).

Hello,
I still have not found any official word on letting us use our runes stuck in WvW armor or sigils stuck in WvW weapons.

Obviously the Upgrade Extractor is not a solution, it was made for high level Agony Infusions.

Enter the Gold-Fed-Extract-o-Matic, a gem shop item that can remove Upgrade Components from gear but not Infusions.

It could cost 800 gems and then 1 gold per use. This is not cheap but would still be a solution that would make people sort of happy. (Silver-Fed-Extract-o-Matic for fewer gems even better if you wouldn’t mind)

Anet, please just admit you overlooked rune/sigil transfers from unsalvageable gear when you removed Transmutation Crystals and give us a way to do it, even if you have to put a gem and gold price on it.

I don’t want to believe that you just don’t care that so many of us have banks full of gear we can’t use.

This is causing me constant frustration every time I log in and look at my bank and I know I’m not alone.

I have so many armors and weapons stuck with expensive runes and sigils, why can’t you let us salvage them Anet?

Between luck required to get 3 ectos, the gold cost in addition to the badges, the TP tax and the cost of Black Lion Salvage Kits there is no way people will be able to convert badges of honor into much gold.

We just want our runes back.

Hell, make it so WvW gear doesn’t even give ectos, I don’t care, just let me clear my bank of them.

In my opinion GvG in WvW is what is helping to kill WvW.

If I didn`t do GvGs I would have stopped playing 1 year ago.
In between GvGs I raid 5 days/week to keep up my practice and kill things on borderlands helping my server.

WvW would be a lot more DEAD without all the GvG players desperately trying to keep guilds alive.

yes separate game mode would be nice too, but that’s not what the thread is about

also, there are advantages to having it part of wvw, a greater sense of community, prestige for the winners and a sense of usefulness since they contribute to ppt fight even if in a small way

every server will want a few decent gvg guilds and there would be no more hate between ppt and gvg -just for fights- ppl

a closed off instanced fight is lacking a lot of good things that can come from just integrating it into wvw in some way

so warrior elite Rampage:

-This transform no longer increases power levels exponentially. The damage of skills in this transform has been adjusted to compensate.
-This transformation now gives 25% damage reduction.
-This transformation now reduces the duration of immobilized, crippled, and chilled by 33%.

God Tier-
Engineer: Best class, can do everything better than everyone else especially style on fools.

Good Tier-
Guardian: A good source of stability and reflects for your engineer.
Warrior: A good source of Fury and stat buffs from banners for your engineer.

Ok Tier-
Elementalist: A good source of healing for your engineer. Can also provide fire fields if you’re feeling lazy on your engineer.

Situational Tier-
Mesmer: A good source of portal for completing jumping puzzles on your engineer. Also can throw down timewarp for supreme grenade spamming on your engineer.
Thief: A good source of stealth for your engineer.
Ranger: A good source of Frost Spirit for your engineer.

Comedy Tier-

there is a Colosseum type arena in OS… introduced specifically for guilds to gvg.

there is zero need to do gvg in wvw…

The best thing that anet could do would be to change OS to eotm style mega-server… that way guilds can find match ups for gvg that are not restricted to their server match up or tier. It would keep everyone happy.

The OS “arena” is just a rushed patch up to apologize for one of the Devs disrupting a GvG and kittenting on players.

No amount of little changes is going to make it good enough for the purpose of a real GvG game mode.

a LFG kind of system with separate instance is a nice idea, but missing a very important part of GvG fun, watching guilds fight.

it’s great for the 20 that play, guaranteed no interference etc. , but people need to be able to watch GvG fights for it to have REAL success as a game mode.

Hi all,
I have a decent idea (probably) to include a form of GvG combat into normal WvW.

step 1: remove all ruins and bloodlust from borderlands; sorry Anet, it was a good try, but most of the players don’t like bloodlust/ruins and just find it all an annoyance they sometimes have to care about in close matches.

step 2: put the lake back in with a good sized Colosseum-like arena in the middle

Now it gets a bit more complicated but totally doable, here’s how it could work:

  • the first guild that gets there claims it for their server at a npc
  • when this happens, some PPT points will start to count up for the server, how much is yet to be decided
  • when they claim, the guild sets the number of defenders as a value from 10 to 20 (maybe a fixed value of 15 or 20 defenders), those players have to physically be there and stay there for it to give points to the server
  • enemy guilds can issue challenges to take the arena only with the exact numbers set by the defending guild
  • there would be a challenge queue/order when more guilds are there, handled by a npc
  • the matches would be best of 3 rounds (maybe 5 or 9 depending on how long the challenge queue is at that moment), with the possibility to change defender numbers and roster after a match victory (not between rounds)
  • if a challenger wins, they are also free to change defender numbers (unless the number is decided to be fixed at either 15 or 20)
  • combat and siege deployment is disabled on the island and arena walls/spectator places

That would be the general idea, some details are not set in stone obviously.

Let me know what you think or if my phrasing is not clear enough.

it’s pretty simple if you ask me: sPvP tournament is boring to watch, GvG is not

you should always pick the game mode that is watchable if you want any kind of success

but they wasted 2 years already promoting a game mode that was obviously never going to be an eSport, might be too late for GvG to shine now

when I finally quit this game nothing short of FULL GvG game mode support is ever going to get me back

Dear Anet,

I like the wardrobe change, but this new problem needs to be addressed. It might be time to remove all salvage restrictions all together, since the karma exploits that made you put them in in the first place are long gone and karma is much harder to get anyway now.

As for gear from wvw badges, again, there is not point for restriction now, the badge only vendors are gone.

A lot of us have runes/sigils stuck and we want to use them, not buy new ones and destroy gear with expensive upgrades.

We at least deserve a response to this.

Are Engineers really that bad?

Engineers aren’t bad at all. They have the greatest build diversity of any class and are the hardest to play well.

They do suffer from the fact that their complexity is too much for the average noob playing this game so you might hear negative things because of this.

Getting pretty sick of jealous scrubs trying to pretend they know things.

Pro tip: WvW does not = EB only

Before the Anet fail that was transfer promoting season before each wvw tournament, we stayed nr.1 for a long time without playing PPT, just playing for fights and destroying everyone, not even scouting, sieging or even defending much.

Our randoms didn’t even need commander, they would just take the all the borderlands in small groups of friends, with guild raids taking sieged-up keeps.

Vizunah was the first to beat us with coverage and PPT game and they did a good job at it. Now many servers are stacked, including us, and we have to play differently a bit, but all true SFR know why we got nr.1 in the first place.

I feel sorry for all veteran wvw players who haven`t had a chance to be on my server.

You haven`t followed KLM from SFR EU.

If we have a 1h long hard fight, not only will he talk very fast and non-stop for that whole time (many can do this), but each and every word will be a relevant command valid for the exact situation we`re in at that moment (this is the impressive part), in the most motivating french-accent way possible. Add in great situational awareness and reaction time and I can safely say it`s almost impossible you know a better pug commander.

Also from SFR EU, shout out to Ravya, few match his overall knowledge of WvW strategy, great commander and congrats on Ultimate Dominator!

HORRIBLE idea to make megaservers active in CITIES. Who could possibly think this was a good idea?

S1 BG queues were insane, and we had over 500 people on our teamspeak at any given time (this season has dropped quite a bit due to recent teamspeak issues and less coverage overall, but we still get average 250 online 24/7, more during NA, less during Oceanic). I doubt Vizunah could’ve competed.

what do you mean by “queues were insane” ?

on SFR S2 start we had 250+ EBG queue, 150+ on each of the 3 borders and even 20+ on Obsidian

Hmmmm. Good points from both of you. What about Bolt? Is that better for either the warr or mes? I was going to make that originally but changed to Sunrise from people sayng warr SHOULD have a GS. Materials are the exact same except changing gossamer for leather… and i still have all the gossamer… in case i changed my mind…. again!

– Mesmer clones will inherit all the graphic and sound effects of Bolt when wielded in the main hand.

if you absolutely must make a Sunrise, the mesmer is the only one that can use it both for zerging and for small scale

he`s also much better at small scale fights than those other 2, but also much harder to play at full potential

the only other legendaries good for both zerging and small scale would be hammer for warr and staff for necro

since you`re walking around low level maps anyway, GATHER EVERYTHING.

mine all the ore and chop down all the trees u see. they give u xp for the gather and sell the materials on the trading post for A LOT of money for a new player.

Warrior DPS > stacks of vulnerability/might anyway… just bring another GS warrior and it’s curtains.

Sure other classes can be useful, but people don’t care about useful… people want the dungeon finished ASAP.

Unshakeable and Defiant are stupid mechanics.

Remove these and increase the difficulty to compensate – this doesn’t mean add an extra 500,000 hit points.

man, u absolutely need 25 might and 25 vuln to finish the dungeon fast

defiant is needed so you don`t just stunlock bosses; do you know you take away 1 stack of it when u cc ? good groups peel those off early and leave him with no defiant to interrupt a big attack, that`s the whole point of it; dungeon bosses have like 5 defiant stacks, not hard to do

what you actually need is:
- 25 might
- 25 vulnerability on bosses
- fury
- quickness
- (sometimes) reflects, stability, boon stealing

talking about the classes u said are useless:
- ele can bring the 25 might + fury (+ other buffs + dmg)
- engi, necro can bring the 25 vulnerability (+ other buffs + dmg)
- ranger, thief can bring massive dps on bosses only if the rest of the roles are covered (+ other buffs)

now, if ppl playing these classes don`t know how to do their job, it`s another thing

and talking about warrior dps, a good one does more than DOUBLE the damage a noob warrior does, so when a dungeon run is bad, blame the ppl, not the classes

Except for the part warrior and guardian alone already stack 25 might and vuln and do more damage than the other classes anyways.

The actual setup is 1 conjure ele, 1-2 warriors, 1 guardian, 1 mesmer or thief. Ranger>Engineer>Necro in the order of weaker classes. Put ele at the bottom with necro if he’s not running conjure because ele do garbage damage without conjure weapons.

as usual, ppl quoting me without having a kittening clue what they`re talking about

blasting might + fury on ele has nothing to do with what utility skills u pick, u can put down fiery gs and still do your might + fury job (scepter/dagger)

warriors don`t do more dmg than other classes ANYWAY, a noob GS auto-attacking warrior will do less dmg than a minion necro

nope, just that for ranger the useful wvw zerg skills are obvious since he`s so simple. that doesn`t make him good.

engi is MUCH harder to play at full potential, that`s why u can`t ask for certain builds, he`s too complex

Usually when stacking the same sigil on both weapons you won`t get double the effect.

It is certain that for example 2 fire sigils both go on cooldown when it procs, however I believe that the proc chances are separate, meaning that 2 fire sigils will indeed proc more often when off cooldown, since you have 2 separate 30% chances waiting to proc.

you can test this easy with 1 fire sigil and 1 air sigil, sometimes you will see air proc, sometimes fire, both sharing the cooldown.

ranger is expected to use his water field heal, muddy terrain and immobilize elite

engi, not much to ask for really, if u wanna be useful thumper turret gives u 2 blasts on demand + another one if u use shield; u can also support with some stability from elixir B tool belt. for dps, grenades are probably the most fun u`ll have on engi in wvw, just don`t go full condi dmg, power is always stronger

A more in-depth response:
PvE: Superior AOE. Better range abilities. Better survivability and mobility. Can maintain nearly 100% uptime on swiftness with 2/3 utilities.

WvW: Superior to warrior. In WvW, zergs are dominant, so guardian has higher chance of surviving. They also provide good CC with the hammer and staff. Also a badge dispenser. Superior healing abilities with altruistic healing and empower.

PvP: Cannot comment since I don’t do spvp

maybe we should give Anet a bit of Feedback to let them know that they need to adjust the Dungeon Gold Rewards.

I’m pretty sure they’ve been reading this thread. They don’t respond to all threads because they’re busy developing new content. I think the current gold reward system for dungeons is really just a bandage. They said that they’re going to revamp the dungeons so the current rewards might actually be appropriate for when they’re revamped.

Does that really make sense to you? These are simple gold numbers that can be changed easily and at any time.

I was one of the guys who did AC all paths every day. I haven`t been there after seeing the “revamps”. AC is just annoying, not harder, not better, simply annoying.

Its not how hard these things are its how tedious they are to do, Reward vs Risk basically says to players don’t do them anymore.

I’ll be very surprised if most people bother to do these things anymore.

Yes dungeons needed an overhaul to stop farming, this was not the way to do it..

I think is was a pretty good first (provisional maybe) change to stop farming, but INCREDIBLY POOR CHOICE of gold amounts.

I`ve always defended them against complainers but honestly I can`t believe this.

It`s like they gave the janitor a list and told him “put some gold amounts here, we need it back in 5 min to run the update”

I just looked at the wiki and the new gold rewards:

It amazes me how out of touch with their dungeons the developers are.

Is TA spider path the same “length and difficulty” as the other 2 ?
Is SE path 2 the same “length and difficulty” as the other 2 ?
Is CoF path 3 the same “length and difficulty” as the other 2 ?

I was looking forward to doing ALL dungeons ALL paths everyday, but I`m pretty sure I won`t find decent groups for these, just like nobody was doing them before the update.

I`m not one to complain usually but this needed to be said. At least the 3 examples I gave NEED TO GIVE MAX GOLD REWARD for people to even consider doing them regularly.

I can`t express in words how hard I laughed when I read this. Especially since it`s written in such nice paragraphs and all.

Makes me pretty sad though that someone can write a coherent post like that and miss such basic understanding of things in game.

Not trying to be mean or anything.

No wonder we have 7-10k achieve points ppl in this game who have no clue about anything.
