now, is that the healing power of the guy who put up the field, or the guy who blasted it?

has anyone tested this?

Really? This is a debate? ENGINEER is ABSOLUTELY the most complex class.

I`ve been playing around with engi builds for 700h and still finding new ways to combine them. He also the hardest to be effective with. BY FAR.

Elementalist just seems complex because of many skills but it`s really not. I mean he is, more than warrior and ranger etc.. but nowhere near engi complex.

I played all classes a lot btw.

“properly used with skill” every single class is very good in all parts of the game

some are easier than others when it comes to learning how to play it well, but all are good if you`re not dumb

I know of longbow ranger and grenade kit engi

I would skip from lvl 54 to 70

after 70 you have a good amount of traits to play around with while u 100% the high level maps

do u know that passive movement signet doesn`t stack with swiftness?

none of you will run faster than 33%, swiftness overwrites all movement speed passive bonuses

the only exception as far as I know is a skill the engineer has that gives him a 50% movement burst for 2-3 secs, but that also doesn`t stack with swiftness

as to answer the OP the warrior has easy 100% swiftness, u just alternate press 2 buttons, warhorn and signet of rage both with cooldown traits, and also the easiest PvE killing

Ok:
- first 80 engineer – pretty complicated, hard to be good at, undervalued and underplayed
- second 80 warrior – faceroll easy to play, overplayed and overvalued

so what`s my personality ?

Necros aren’t really that good at stacking conditions. Maintaining them isn’t a problem of course.

How are necros not good at conditions? Have you ever played necro ? Obviously not.

OP, necro IS the conditon class, if u like dot play necro.

For easy low level PvE you want to use Thumper Turret, pistol/shield and elixirs.
You should know kits get much stronger at later levels once you have more traits so you could leave them for later.

I did the same thing early, took rifle and got into kits as fast as possible, but it`s not the best way at low levels.

You`re basically asking for more free stuff for logging in very rarely. You`re not going to have as much stuff as a person who plays everyday, and nor should you.

The problem is not with warriors, it`s with people playing the other classes badly. Warrior is a lot harder to be bad with.

Necros and Rangers can be good but I`m not gonna take one in my party if I can get a warrior, just a lot less risky. Teach people how to play if u want more diversity.

you will get the most use out of a Scepter with an Elementalist since he`s the only one that has 12 skills on the Scepter

all the rest have only 3 scepter skills and also change weapons to be useful, with ele you will always have scepter in your hand

I played a lot of Engineer in full berkserker gear and had no trouble surviving, I`m wondering if Mesmer can do it as well.

I don`t know what build or weapons I`ll use for late game, I`ll figure that out while leveling, but I want to know if you can survive well in dungeons and such as full glass cannon with no Vit or Tough items.

the most fun you`ll have in this game is exploring the entire world

if you 100% all the maps you will have enough gold and materials to craft yourself in full exotics

to all the people who recommend grinding dungeons, I recommend them to go play wow, they don`t understand GW2

So it`s not your PC because someone somewhere happens to have a similar problem ?

don`t bother with achievement points, there`s a freak around here with 20k points from the infinite salvage achievement and I`m sure he`s not the only one spending gold for useless points.

Engineer can only use few weapons because they have tool belt skills and weapon kits.

To make guns you use Huntsman crafting not Weaponsmith.

That type of camera control was made because of the limitations of consoles and then passed on to other games. If you didn`t notice, console garbage is influencing PC games a lot, and not for the better.

Actually, come to think of it, it`s really sad that someone could consider PC camera controls a bug. I`m glad at least Anet knows the difference even if you don`t appreciate it.

so you`re lvl 30 then? how did you miss the Kessex Hills karma armor? they look amazing with the Pit Fighter armor skin

also at lvl 35 you can have crafted Gladiator armor that`s decent and very non-chain mail.

16 gold is a very small amount, I probably wasted more than 70 just on looks, no reason to make a whole new character over that

Like they changed my weapon skin I BOUGHT fine transmutation stones to get with REAL money. I will someday get a Predator and I`m glad it doesn`t have footsteps. I know most of you want a big neon sign “awesome player here” but footsteps are annoying and I hope they don`t put it on Predator.

The thing is auto-targeting used to work MUCH better a few patches ago.

I don`t know exactly when they broke it but when I first started playing 2-3 months ago it NEVER selected a mob behind the one in front of me, and now it does this all the time.

I think the fractal patch ruined it but I can`t be sure.

well I don`t know 100% of the things mesmers can do, I know maybe 60-70% from playing them a bit in PvP and a lvl 30 something in PvE

BUT I would never call the mesmer class bad just because I don`t know how to play it to its full potential, which is what morons constantly do when it comes to engineers.

I`m talking about the big gifts in the world, when they respawn, they fall from the sky, for those who don`t know.

You can still unwrap it from the inside though, and it was pretty funny getting trapped inside along with a female bandit.

I don`t know about shamans in WoW but the closest thing you`ll have to a dwarf atmosphere is with Norn as the race.

Actually, except portals Mesmers don`t bring much of anything to WvW except basic ranged dps with some small support, while being pretty squishy.

Engies have 1500 range grenades and toolkit has a 1200 range magnetic pull in toolkit.
He can also push back a 30 man zerg by himself with the trait that makes turrets push back when they explode, and his huge aoe elite stun which also pushes back after turrets in it blow up. There is also some bomb kit fun to be had against zergs with the same effect.

I truly don`t understand why you people keep saying engineer is bad/weak simply because you`re too stupid to play him well.

btw in case you`re too cheap to try them yourself (you probably are) the orbs take a long time to revive you and they give a nasty 10 sec debuff that slows u to a crawl after you get up, so calling them “game breaking” is just stupid

That’s the thing though. I was in town with no one else around when I tested this. When I move the camera around 360 degrees. I would get as low as 10fps. I don’t think its that optimized. As some of are saying that’s its more CPU intensive than GPU. I got a 4.5ghz quad core. You can’t get much better that.

Oh well. It was only a test and obviously my system has failed.

Where exactly were you? Maybe it`s one of the known FPS drop spots, there are a few of those around.

And how well do you maintain your system? Do you know what you`re doing ?

I want to know because I wanted to get a bigger CPU just for this game but I`m worried it won`t make a huge difference.

Chain lightning is the way to go for glass cannon dps.

Engineer’s dmg is joke. Support capabilities are very limited. CC is useless. If you are just lvl 39 I suggest to switch to another profession. There’s even big thread warning to not roll engineer.

To the OP:
Engineer is indeed harder than other classes, but it`s just as good. One thing you should remember, if you tried something at a lower level and decided it`s bad, try it again at higher levels, with traits opening up things might change drastically.

When I started engi I tried flamethrower and it sucked at low levels, but when I tried again later it became good. Once you hit 80 there are many hugely different good builds you can use, you`re bound to like one of them.
You can be:
-offensive bomber/grenadier
-defensive/support bomber/buffer
-offensive chain lightning dps
-defensive/offensive turreter
-alchemy dps`er with amazing survivability
-full support/healer/cc`er/debuffer
and many more..

If you like the engineer theme stick with it.

If you`re afraid of melee try Bomb Kit. Since I`ve started using it I can`t believe how much I own thieves and squishy warriors, it`s really satisfying.

MMOs will always be way more demanding than single player games.

Just turn off some video options, I think the game actually looks better without post-processing. Shadows on medium look just as good as shadows on ultra. You could take down all the options to medium and still look good.

Dungeons can be amazing fun or awful frustration, depending on who you do them with.

They are definitely worth it once you get a decent group; I mostly do them with random people and like 70% of the time the players are nice. If you get annoying trolls just ignore them, you had bad luck, but the fun you`ll have once you get normal people is worth it.
