Right-click sometimes not grabbing the camera

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Let’s get this out of the way : It is not a mouse issue. It is not a mouse issue. It is not a mouse issue. It is not a mouse issue. It is not a mouse issue. It is not a mouse issue. It is not a mouse issue. It is not a mouse issue. NO, it is NOT a mouse issue.

I have been having this issue since December. Every now and then, right-clicking will fail to grab the camera to turn it around. The game just acts like I didn’t click. As of 17 minutes ago, it was still happening.

Video of it happening 3 times in a row : https://youtu.be/NGLscPcnhsM

- Recorded macros show that the computer receives the proper input when the bug happens, which rules out hardware not working.
- It happens with different mice.
- It happens on different USB ports.
- Recorded video of it shows that it happens while the cursor is around the center of the screen, which rules out clicking UI elements.
- It usually happens when I am using skills at the same time as I am trying to move the camera, although I think I have seen it fail when I was only moving around and not activating skills.
- It happens inconsistently, but I can get it to happen semi-consistently by doing this in a rapid succession on a Daredevil : Use 5 to select the skill, then at the same time or in very very quick succession, click to use the skill on the ground, use A to strife left and right-click to grab the camera.
- I used a macro to record the previous sequence and replay it (please Anet don’t ban me ;_;). The bug still happened although it was still inconsistent.
- The macros recorded of the instances where the bug happens show that timings (delay between actions) are all over the place, which indicates that the bug is independent of timing.
- I could not find a timing that increased the reproducibility of this bug.
- The camera also never lets go by itself once I am controlling it with the right click.
- Sometimes it seems to happen more easily than other times.

I have been in contact with support about this issue, nothing they had me try has been successful in resolving the issue. I have stopped responding to my ticket (2512795) because we were just going in circles around what I think is ultimately an issue with the game itself.

So far, here’s what has been tried :

- A different Internet connection
- Disabling “Right-Click to Attack/Interact”
- Deleting local.dat
- Repairing the game
- Disabling all non-Windows services, all startup applications and rebooting. I played with only GW2, Discord and Teamspeak open.
- Playing with Discord and Teamspeak closed
- Running YoloMouse, Autohotkey and my mouse software as administrator
- Reinstalling the mouse
- Trying a different mouse
- Trying both mice with YoloMouse and Autohotkey running and not running
- Fully reinstalling Guild Wars 2
- Lowering my mouse polling rate

What has not been tried :

- Resetting the preferences using -prefreset but I’m almost certain that the preferences were reset when I fully reinstalled the game as I remember having to set my settings again.
- Formatting my PC
- Putting a hammer to my PC

I decided to submit this thread today after someone else told me they had the same issue so they can come here and comment “me too”.

For… ONE 9AR/5attr infusion per 16, or more than 1? Because right now a single 16 is worth 4 9AR/5attr infusions in gold.

We will instead allow players to trade in +16 Agony Infusions to INFUZ-5959 in exchange for 5 of the new +5 Attribute +9 Agony Infusions, of an attribute of their choice.

Raiding is end-game, hard content. I thought it was assumed that Masteries would be play a big role and be necessary. Why would they even exist otherwise? The Mastery system was put into place so the game can be streamlined to more easily grow and have new added mechanics. To complain that you don’t want to acquire them to do new upcoming content is just silly.

Next thing, you’ll hear them complain about how wing 2 is gated because you need the jumping mushroom mastery to get out of the Slothasor room. Or updrafts to get past the bandit camp.

Hate to be that guy, but I love how the reddit thread resulted in speculation about what mechanics requiring Ley Line gliding could be.

On the other hand, the official thread devolved into griping…

Probably because you get infracted for pretty much nothing on this forum so it’s pretty much impossible to call out or shut down anything in any effective manner and there is no downvote system. So people with arguments or concerns of questionable logic get free reign and never get their arguments invalidated well enough that they learn their lesson and don’t make posts of questionable logic again.

If you are not willing to put in the time and effort necessary to clear a raid, don’t raid. (doesn’t that sound familiar?)

Except this isn’t time and effort spend actually doing the raid, but preparing to do the raid. It’s grinding to get to the fun stuff.

Getting leyline gliding doesn’t make you more worthy for raids, it doesn’t necessarily will make you better at raiding, it’s just another hoop to jump through in order to do the 3rd raid wing.

Obviously, it doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world, and with the way with stray (possibly) leyline energy going about being absorbed by people and animals, I’m sure it’s more thematic and mechanic.

Just shouldn’t become a “feature” that should be praised.

Yeah and leveling up your toon to 80 was “grinding to get the fun stuff”. And yet you and other people who are complaining about this did it without complaining about it. If you don’t like it, don’t play RPGs.

Y’all people who are complaining about this making things inaccessible need to go play platformers or other types of game where everything is unlocked right now. In RPGs, everything is gated behind something, be it level, money, equipment, traits or whatever else. If you’ve got a problem with that, RPGs are NOT for you.

And yet, I see no one here complaining about the need to level up to be able to play higher level maps like Bloodtide Coast or Orr. Why? It’s exactly the same thing that’s at play. You’ll need to play the game to get exp just like you did when you started playing the game. The difference is that you will do it to unlock a mastery rather than do it to become more powerful. Higher level maps are just as gated to a lvl 5 player as wing 3 will be gated to a level 80. So if this concept of character progression bothers you, why did you ever decide to pick up a RPG to play? All these arguments about “inaccessibility” are completely ridiculous and that noise seriously needs to stop.

Add radius on placement of interactibles

I haven’t seen someone trolling like in that pic, that’s pretty lame.

Once in a while I put down a saffron bread basket and occasionally its not in the friendliest place and an ally gets mad at me cause “I overwrote their expensive food”. Well it’s in a good place for people to find it easy, sometimes people just randomly grabgrabgrab though.

Your suggestion works for anet’s static objects as I’m sure they could probably script their nodes on a base lvl to exclude placement of player placeables. I’d do maybe 90units.

On a side topic, they should try and script personal npcs from being interactable with by others. Sooooo annoying.

Just yesterday we had someone put an aviator box on an AB chest. Not as bad because the chest is gigantic and easy to click, but still annoying. It actually happens relatively often.

How large a radius are you thinking? I bet people who like to pop a TP merchant where they can reach it, the crafting vendor, and the crafting machine all at once might be unhappy if suddenly they had to close their crafting window to step far enough to reach their TP.

One workaround is to keybind Select Next Ally. Then you can cycle to the one you want to use.

I’m thinking of a radius of 40 more units than the interaction radius of the thing being placed down. Merchants (and I assume trading posts) have an interaction radius of roughly 200 units. So it would make the radius 240 units. That’s the radius (not diameter!) of mesmer wells, feedback, etc. It really isn’t that big. I posted a screenshot to demonstrate the distances involved.

Crafting stations can simply be excluded from that.

That looks like it is twice as big as it needs to be.

It’s not. The point is to be able to interact without having to click/tab your way through objects and people surrounding those objects. So things have to be out of reach of the interact radius.

Trolls place food trays, toys, merchants and whatnot on in-world interactibles like wood nodes at the Pagga farm or chests in maps like AB to troll people by making it harder to interact with them.

Example : https://imgur.com/S62iJzC

Sometimes people just aren’t careful popping their guild banners, merchants and other stuff and they interfere with in-world interactibles.

So can you please make it so those things cannot be placed within a certain radius of in-world interactibles?

Game randomly launches in windowed mode

It keeps happening and I cannot pinpoint what exactly causes it to happen. I just accidentally quit the game rather than going to character select and upon relaunching it using the shortcut in the taskbar that points directly to the executable, it was windowed. Then I set it to windowed fullscreen, relaunched it and it was fine. I usually use either windowed fullscreen or fullscreen. When things work properly, the game launches as a window then becomes windowed fullscreen. It looks like sometimes it fails to become windowed fullscreen and stays as a window.

I have recently started using WindowBlinds, although I think the problem has been there for a longer time. I am on Windows 10.

I’m not sure about setting the colors though. I’d rather set my own color. I would hate it to be like another luminescent skin which has a blue tint affect the color you set no matter what you do..

Too much of a grind, money better used elsewhere like getting all my toons geared up for raids or buying gems with gold. Or that shiny permanent bank access I bought to go with my shared slots.

I made Quip over a year ago because I wanted to pop it in people’s ears for the lulz. Other than that, I had and have no interest in a legendary.

They are ugly as sin.

Also this. Rofl. Even Quip. That thing is sooo ugly.
The greatswords especially… I don’t understand the appeal. I find that the complete flatness of the blades is really ugly. Had they given them the same effect while making the blade actually look like a blade, I would have liked it. However, following someone who is wearing one in jumping puzzles, especially bigger toons, is a gigantic PITA because you cannot see what the hell you are jumping on because it’s covered in their footsteps.

I’d much rather have infusions that leave nice effects in my footsteps than have it bound to weapons.

I also wish they had made the stat changing worthwhile by making it possible to set different sigils for different stats.

Technically you could appoint your mouse button to press any of the F13-24 keys and have the game bind it to that key.

It would REALLY help if GW2 allowed for XMB+key bindings. Then it would stop such grey areas.

Policy: 3rd-Party Programs; Multi-Boxing; Macros

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kasima.8143

Kasima.8143

On the topic of macros I think you should add an “aside from doing repetetive tasks such as opening bags, converting snowflakes etc.”. You can’t seriously think it’s fun to klick 14634677447735779 times on the same pixels to open ones bags from, let’s say, halloween. Since there’s no use/open all feature many bind a left klick to a repeatable key or the mousewheel. That should be legal and not fall under prohibited as atm.

It makes me wonder about a macro that binds a key to a double click. Holding it down would plow through stacks of whatever it would be thrown at. My mouse’s software allows me to bind mouse buttons or a combination of mouse buttons to a double click. So is it technically considered a macro at that point?

And then taxi macros. I don’t think it’s possible to play or do anything else while trying to taxi into a map (cannot be in combat and it uses the mouse). It does not really give an advantage either since there is a limit to how many attempts one can do within a certain amount of seconds. A macro would only serve to avoid doing the same repetitive action over and over again, but would not allow to do it faster than someone doing it manually.

So I’m not sure where these things stand in the macro policy. I also understand that they cannot just blanket approve of “things that only get rid of repetitive UI interactions” and that they also won’t address specific cases. But it would be nice to know.

I would also like clarification on this, as in my opinion this was worded and structured poorly. Are you simply talking about an “autoclicker” to open bags while you sit still doing else or a programed macro to be used while you perform other activities?

I find this particularly intriguing since either the wording describes something that cannot happen, either we’re talking about physically doing something else while the macro is doing its thing. In the first case, if for example you use a macro to open a stack of bags, your mouse has to stay on the stack of bags to work, so you cannot do something else with your mouse while it’s opening bags (you’re also going to have to take care of that inventory). It is the same thing for taxiing. In the second case, besides outright botting, there is very little that can be done automatically in this game where you can just walk away from your computer or do something else. Off the top of my head I would have said trading post stuff, but it would be super intricate and I wouldn’t entrust my money to a macro rofl (Ever accidentally bought now a bunch of things when trying to overcut a buy order by 1c? Yeaaaah….).

Kasima.8143

This has happened on my old PC and it is happening with my new PC as well and I’m really fed up with this crap. Sometimes, under unknown conditions other than the game being in fullscreen mode, when tabbing back in the game or launching a second instance of the game, the game will glitch and prevent me from interacting with ANYTHING outside the game. I cannot tab out, I cannot Alt-F4, I cannot launch the task manager. The only thing I can do is hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete to go to the log on screen to force the focus out of the game then launch the task manager from there. Then once back to the desktop after doing that, UI controls respond to hovers, but I only get ONE click, because anything clicked is caught by the game and puts the game back into focus (the cursor switches back to the GW2 cursor while still being on the desktop and nothing can be interacted with past that). On Win 7 in the last days of using my former PC, the only way I could get out of this was to log out of my session from the logon screen to force the game to be exited by the system and hope I had something unsaved somewhere so not everything would be closed. On Windows 10, I can right click the Start button and launch PowerShell, after which the game steals the focus. But since I’m still on the desktop, I can tab back to PowerShell and do ps and kill the process.

I’m really fed up with that crap. It happens several times a week and I really thought that I’d be done with it on the new computer because I thought that maybe the issue was with my old video card, but apparently not. The issue is definitely with the game.

Raid "exclusivity"

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Kasima.8143

Kasima.8143

A couple of things I wanted to mention in this post, the first being how much I enjoy this new content.

I think Arena net did a fantastic job balancing this new raid content, I know I don’t only speak for myseself when I say that this is has been the most fun and challenging PvE content GW2 has ever had. Period.

I agree. The game has needed challenging content for a long time. I am happy it’s here and available for people who want it. I just wish it had been implemented in a way closer to the GW2 philosophy that the game was sold on.

I see the word “exclusive” being thrown around a lot in this forums. Fact of the matter is, nothing about raiding is exclusive.

Oh wow. Raids are not exclusive on factual basis. I had no idea. Please, explain…

Anyone can acquire ascended gear, even though it really isn’t necessary.

All right, so I must be missing something, because by this very sentence, you have demonstrated it is exclusive. Since ascended gear is not “really” required, this states that is required by some, which it is. And I am sure we can look up objective numbers that show a certain percentage of the population do not have ascended armor and thus, on that criteria alone, are being excluded.

Your statement is subjective. You are stating an opinion that you think the acquisition of ascended armor is so easy that anyone can do it, thus making it inclusive. I can also state the opinion that becoming the President of the United States or attending Harvard is so easy anyone can do it, but yet objective evidence shows a very small percentage of the population have done either, making them both very exclusive.

Even if we both agree that the process of acquiring ascended armor is so trivial that anyone can do it, it still comes with a time requirement. Time to make it or time to raise the gold to buy it. This time requirement is objectively higher than exotic and a number of adults, regardless of our opinion that they can if they really wanted to, cannot meet that time requirement. This makes raiding content more exclusive than historical content that has never once brought up this issue of requiring ascended gear.

Anyone can research builds and level up alts that are more effective than others. One profession being better at something than other professions does not mean exclusion, it means roles. You can’t create challenging content with the expectation that EVERY profession and build will be viable. Doesn’t work like that, never has.

Personally, I never once said it would work that. I understand that it does work like that and that’s why I have made the statement that raiding has a degree of exclusion. Despite, one again, your opinion that this particular task is so trivial it can be done by 100% of the population, there is a time requirement in leveling an alt. Anyone who cannot meet this requirement will be excluded if the main they did level is not viable for the raid, once again, creating a degree of exclusion.

Anyone can gather a raid together and open up an instance and attempt it.

Yes, anyone as long as they have met the asended gear requirement or only selected people who did not have that requirement and are playing a class can contribute, can gather a raid together and attempt it. You are correct in saying this 100% inclusive to, let’s say, 70% of the population.

However, attempting does not result in completion. Completion requires practice. If anyone could complete it on the first try, then it would be very difficult to apply the adjective of “challenging” to this content.

Practice requires time. We have this statement in engineering that given enough time, you can solve any problem or build anything, which is true for anything. With enough time, anyone can beat the raid.

But, as we have already established, time is finite resource not available equally to all players, thus making completion of the raid, once again, exclusive to a percentage of the population.

You may find this acceptable and how it is meant to be. I do not. I think the integrity of the current difficulty level should be preserved via lower diffulty levels with lesser rewards so the percentage of the population who paid for the game and yet cannot make the time commitment the current difficulty level requires can experience the content.

Lack of progression is not being EXCLUDED lack of progression means lack of willingness to adapt. Two very very different things.

Unless you lack the time to invest into that progress, then you are excluded on that criteria. Or your raid party has formed the subjective opinion that you lack the skill or talent to contribute and have removed you, excluding you on that criteria as well. Both of these have nothing to do with a “lack of willingness” or, to be blunt, laziness. In fact, attributing anyone who cannot complete the raid to laziness is a cognitive bias called fundamental attribution error.

Raiding is not easy, an easy raid is called a dungeon or a World Boss. This philosophy that there should be an “easy” version of this raid completely contradicts why these raids were made in the first place. TO BE CHALLENGING.

I welcome your opinion, but it is just that: an opinion. These is no objective criteria that associates a certain degree of difficulty with the label of “raid”. WoW has a casual level of difficulty that I am sure both of us would agree is very easy, but it is referred to as a “raid”.

Perhaps we can agree that the point of raids in GW2 was to add challenging content. However, since what is or is not a challenge is subjective, multiple difficulty levels can be added while still meeting that goal. It just allows players to choose what they find “challenging” while still being within the time investment they are able to give.

A lack of willingness to improve, adapt, and be flexible is not being excluded. That’s exactly the way people are using that term, “I can’t log on and clear this thing with my friends in a casual manner, were being excluded.” That’s bull crap.

What is bull crap is, once again, the logical fallacy of fundamental attribution error you are applying here in which you conclude this issue of exclusivity just comes down to people being lazy. You have failed to recognize other valid factors in play, primarily, the finite resource of time that players have in varying amounts.

Casual and Raid has never been used in the same sentence. Raiding in any MMO in the history of MMO’s has always been a more oriented around very organized group gameplay.

Yes, it has. Casual and the word Raid have been used in WoW’s LFR system. You may not consider that a “raid” by your personal criteria, but it does not change that the precedent has been established.

For the first Raid wing in GW2 ever to release since launch, i’m very impressed with how well they did and i’ve seen complete pug groups clear the wing. Those same pug groups later turned into raiding guilds.

Imagine that. Guild’s actually meaning something in a game called Guild Wars 2.

Great job Anet. Keep it coming.

I agree completely. I’m thrilled that so many people have found this satisfaction. I hope the next raid comes out with varying degrees of difficulty so more of the population can feel the satisfaction you have, but on a level that is reasonably obtainable to them given their time requirements.

Nothing you have stated here established objective fact that raids are not exclusive. Instead, you have tried to pawn off your personal opinions as objective fact and are essentially saying that exclusion exists, but the degree in which it exists is acceptable to your personal standards. I respect that and I welcome you to share that opinion. Just don’t be intellectually dishonest about it.

All of this = “Level 80 maps are exclusive! People with only lvl 20 toons cannot play on them!” or “High level fractals are exclusive because they require ascended armor!” and yet I don’t see people whining about fractals being exclusive or high level maps being unplayable by low level toons.

So let’s remove the concept of levels and gear entirely so that people who only have 15 minutes available to play per week don’t get excluded from the raid content! Is that what you’re implying would be required for things not to be exclusive? Because your major argument here seems to be the amount of time people have to play GW2. Some people don’t even have time to play at all. Close the whole game? So where does it start and where does it end? Raids are not exclusive, period. Because if we use your logic, then then whole game is exclusive to arbitrary amounts of people which obviously is ridiculous.

Oh my god, woe is us, they added content that represents like 2% of the game that requires time and effort. If people aren’t happy with that, they can play the remaining 98% of the game. Or go play Farmville or something. Leave this content the F alone. For ONCE this game has content that is challenging and has requirements.

Please get better arguments.

Edit : Actually, scratch that Farmville comment. People who want everything now wouldn’t be pleased by how they are excluded from getting that fancy cow or something because they need to invest time to grind wheat for it (or whatever).
So they should go play Mario Bros. But wait! All further levels are gated by previous levels! That’s exclusive!
They should buy coloring books.

Raid "exclusivity"

[L]evel up alts that are more effective than others.

I find this to be not only a burden, but against the spirit of a role playing game. Many players choose their profession carefully based on the archetype they like to play (e.g., assassin in the shadows, holy defender, rampaging warrior, etc.), so telling them to reroll a much beloved character they’ve spent time and energy building just to play the new content is pretty excluding.

Thankfully some of the raid fights appear to be forgiving and many comps that some would call “unusual” have completed the first encounter at the very least. I’d rather Arena Net side on more leeway in composition, than essentially forcing people to reroll a character they’ve put so much effort into building, learning, and in some cases, role playing their entire GW 2 lifetime.

What are you doing with only one lvl 80?

Exclusive, a.k.a. “I’m lazy and I am not willing to do everything it takes to put all the chances on my side”.

With practice and proper knowledge, anyone can beat those raids.

It’s actually pretty bad to send the chrono onto lightning duty because that means your main dps (likely revs/warriors/other power) are missing out on quickness/alacrity and that can be a substantial dps loss overall.

Would you care to explain that?
Alacrity and quickness come from shield phantasms, assuming the chrono uses shield, wells and time warp, all of which can be cast at a distance.
If the chrono can’t time the Continuum split between the green circles, then it’s a problem with the chrono and not with the fact that they’re on green circle duty.
One might even argue that it’s best for the chrono to stay out of its own wells and out of range of its illusionary avengers at times, since when running shield and using shatters, the chrono itself can easily stack up to 30 seconds of alacrity which could obviously benefit someone else instead.

So unless I’m missing something here…

Magnetite Shards Problem

WoW for example, that is when they release raids in parts in their lfg. You do not have the same amount of tokens/loot for your quests until the full raid is out.

That a sufficient enough example?

For context: Looking for Raid is the easy-mode version of their raid, and it’s released in parts not out of necessity but due to design choice. They want people to do the harder versions of their raid (Heroic / Mythic), so they only release part of Looking for Raid in order to give incentive to those other bits of content. Not to mention the fact that there are other ways of getting Valor. There’s no other way to get Magnitite Shards other than re-running the bosses.

So no, it isn’t a good example because you’re comparing the easy-mode of WoW’s raids to the only-mode of GW2’s raid.

You’re also assuming they won’t increase the cap with the next wing. Since they’ve already adjusted the cap once (105 – 100), I have no idea why you would assume they won’t do so again.

Either way, I really don’t care about this justification because it is (and has been) terrible now.

“Oh but it’ll be fine in 1 year when the whole raid is out!” is just apologizing for a bad system, based on nothing but assumptions. People complaining about it now are giving feedback on the current system as it is now. May as well say, “Fractals will be fine once Leaderboards are out!”

Considering how much ascended equipment costs, I doubt they will increase the weekly cap. And the cap wasn’t adjusted. It was a bug.

Wintersday JP : South path = gifts explode

Please, read my post again, for real, this time. I was ALONE in the map. The gifts did NOT explode prior to me getting there if I took the north or center path (that was implied) but they did every time I took the south path. Or are you somehow implying that I did not observe what I did in fact observe? I farmed that map ALONE for about 3 hours and the gifts didn’t explode on their own unless I took the south path.

I was alone in a Wonderland map doing the JP for a while and I noticed that whenever I came in from the south path, some of the gifts would explode before I even got there. Was that intended?

I had made a really cool jumping puzzle using crates and pumpkins that led all the way to the top of the weird tree at the top of the Gilded Hollow guild hall but now it’s all gone?!

Why?!

That place was very cool looking. Why not just leave it there?

Let us change the CURSOR pls

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kasima.8143

Change the color, or size, or something! I lose my cursor in all the hustle n bustle more than I should, and in Raids it can make me mess up. If I could make it be bright purple, or making it bigger, or something so it sticks out more that would be super awesome. And I can’t imagine something like that would be hard to do.

Harooo Frand!

May I introduce you to a small program called YOLOmouse. You may thank me later. Even better thank the creator of YOLOmouse.

I love you.

Action cam and the rogue cursor

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Kasima.8143

There is a quite annoying issue with the action cam. If your cursor is hovering over something that causes a popup (map, party player picture etc.) that popup will stay up until you unlock the cursor and move it away. I find that I have to do that quite often. It also affects overlays like Overwolf, in which case clicking causes the focus to be lost to Overwolf and whatever controls are pushed down at the same to stick. I think this issue could be resolved by moving the cursor to the center of the screen when action cam is enabled.

(This comment was from another thread that was merged about the price in CAD which is absurdly high.)

QoL suggestions for character select screen

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kasima.8143

Kasima.8143

Let me add something :

The character screen has a ton of wasted space.

Get rid of the useless banner on the right of the screen.
The left of the screen should be used to display character clots. You could easily fit 20 character slots in there without needing to scroll.
Then, disable the character slots changing position. Characters should be in fixed positions to make it easy to intuitively reach the character you want. (Or make them manually reorder-able)
Then in the middle of the screen, display the full character preview.
Then on the right side of the screen, display character info and everything you suggested.
You can add a button on the character screen for account-wide info. A button to see the content of your your trading post delivery box would be a nice addition too.

(And make the character sick when you spin it around too much.)

About the New Trait System

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kasima.8143

Kasima.8143

The problem is that i use a full trait line on my mesmer and in that line i have no grandmaster trait, instead i use master trait on that slot because it fits my play-style.

If we cant use lower tier traits on higher tier trait slots we’re forced to choose between traits, rather than using the combination we want.

:(

Same, and I am very worried about this for the same reason.

Fun tidbit to discuss:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/GW2-unlikely-to-get-expansions-Interview/first

That was about a year ago…..now just out of curiosity how long does a proper expansion take to go from planned to delivered?

Not saying anything is right or wrong or anything just interested to how the time table works out as related to the topic.

It is possible that while developing the LS, they realized that it would be good content for an EP. So it is entirely possible that the EP has been in the works for a very long time, but that they didn’t know back then or didn’t originally want to make it an EP.

Mods are not allowed. Full stop. Some overlays are and for some reason macros to play musical instruments (and nothing else), but that’s it.

Incorrect, that was the policy at launch, and it was changed over a year and a half ago. Currently the policy is that no mods are permitted which alter the game code or give an unfair advantage over the base game. This mod overlays a targetting reticule (overlays are premitted) and changes your mouse configuration to hold down your right mouse button for you, however it still relies on the games existing targeting without modification, so it in no way provides an advantage or alters the game code. I know hundred of players that use it, I use it, and no one has ever been banned for it.

It’s fine to use, it make the game way more fun and to be honest it makes no sense that it isn’t a feature. I have been reported for using it literally hundreds of time at this point and I have never even been warned, let alone banned. They do not just ban anyone who is accused of using a mod without investigation. If your account shows no signs of having unfair advantage or code modification, then you are not going to get in trouble.

EDIT: Okay, it is true there is a version which alters the game code by removing UI elements, however you can shut this option off, it even tells you how to do so. And without the removed UI elements it in no way affects the game code and breaks no rules.

My understanding is that it does not alter the game’s code. It interacts with DX9 on a low level (at which point might very well be be outside the game) to tell it to display or not display UI elements.
