GM ShadowForm, I hope you’re watching because this is for you.

So for the memes for WvW Rewards and hopefullness of getting a ball rolling on WvW Rewards being terrible, I sent in a support ticket.

I feel like i got scammed by using 80x Potion of WvW Rewards on the Draconis Mons Reward Track for WvW. All that I got out of it was a sore wrist from moving my mouse to click the chest then moving it to click accept over and over and over alongside only a bunch of trash, which in this case is definitely not a case of “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” because half of it couldn’t even be sold to the merchant because it was account bound cooking materials that 99% of the player base already has capped on in their storage. From the looks of it, I only got maybe 3-4g worth of loot from the 80 Potions of WvW Rewards, plus 50 Fire Orchid Blossoms, which might I add is like giving someone a quarter slice of cake, and it’s the part that’s hard from being left out too long. I think that WvW Reward Tracks should provide a lot more rewards than they currently do. Especially considering the amount of time it takes to complete a track, be it collecting 80 Potions of WvW Rewards or playing WvW for the 5-10 hours (depending on your participation and boosters).

Turning in my unbound magic into t6 materials you say eh?

Too bad I only got about 1000ish unbound magic from it. O.o That’s enough for 2 Magic-Warped Bundle (which also adds 1g each to the cost to buy it, and could easily end up in a loss of profit (see Crystal Lodestones, Glacial Lodestones, Ebony Orb, Maguuma Burl, Pile of Putrid Essense, etc.)) or 4 Magic-Warped Packets (which cost 50s each and could also lead to a loss of profit) >_>

So uh…. This still feels like that leftover old cake. Sure it has potential to maybe have a sweet spot, but the odds aren’t in my favor. If I spend 50s and 250 unbound magic for 1 magic-warped packet, and get something worth even 60s, I end up with less than 50s after trading post taxes and fees.

Lets see what else I might be able to get that could potentially lead to profit from this track:
Mini Pets? All of which are non-tradeable and most times you don’t want out while in wvw due to stealth not effecting mini pets. No profit there
Obsidian Shards? I already get a crap ton of these from reward tracks in general, no need to buy more, and can’t really profiit from them.
Lots of Tributes for Legendaries? can’t sell them, and if I were working on a legendary, I’d definitely have just used the potions on the gift of battle track instead. No use for this option.
Node Bushes? those cost 10,000 each, no way am I going to run through 800 wvw potions AND 50g to get the 10,000 unbound magic just for something I’m only going to be able to mine once per day and get maybe 1 item from.

I’m trying to find something that will make this worth while, but I’m not seeing it.


TLDR: #MakeWvWRewardsGreat… I’d say again but that’d imply they were actually good at one point.

Lets get this ball rolling on ANet bringing WvW up to at least par w/ the current content rewards. If not better than it as to insentivize gameplay.

Is it a bug or design to not give any more ascended shards after the first completion?

imo, this looks like a bug due to the fact that you can’t even complete a full set of ascended armor from the entire run of the season and it discourages a lot of people from playing pvp after finishing that track once through, because they can’t finish the armor set.

Guild Wars 2 Login Utility Application

Hey All!

I’ve been working on a project for a group of friends that happen to have multiple accounts and were wanting an easy method to swap between the accounts while also not having to store their passwords in plain text in the guild wars 2 shortcuts. Some of them also run gw2 with different parameters as extras such as -bmp for higher quality screenshots. So I created a tool for myself and them that does all this.

I present to you, the Guild Wars 2 Login Utility Application

This application is fully open source and written in AutoIt as it was a simple language for me to write this sort of appliation in. The UI might not be the prettiest, but it gets the job done.

Setup

Run gw2lua.exe as found in the exe folder

Once the application has loaded, you’re going to want to select “Launcher Settings” then select “find” in the new window and navigate through the dialogue box to find your gw2.exe or gw2-64.exe based on if you’re 32 or 64 bit. Once this step has been completed it will save the data to %appdata%\gw2lua\settings.gw2lua for reference later. This can be changed any time by going through this step again.

Now you need to add your account(s). This can be done by selecting the “Create New Account” option. This will pop up a new dialogue box where you need to enter in your account email and password. Make sure these are 100% correct as Guild Wars 2 will fail to launch and just sit at a blank screen unless they are correct. Once your account(s) have been created, they will be saved to appdata\gw2lua\hash.gw2lua where the email will be in plain text, but the password will be encrypted for security.

Options

Now that you’re set up, you can select any of the options. You can delete individual accounts, delete all accounts, update gw2, repair gw2, or log in to gw2 with the selected account.

Deleting an account will delete the currently selected account from the hash.gw2lua file. Deleting all accounts clears the hash.gw2lua file of all account entries and leaves it blank. These will display confirmation dialogues to confirm that you want to perform the action you requested.

Updating Guild Wars 2 will just launch the Guild Wars 2 launcher normally with no parameters.

Repairing Guild Wars 2 will launch Guild Wars 2 with the -repair parameter. This will display a confirmation dialogue to confirm that this is the action you want to perform.

Logging in will log you in to Guild Wars 2 with the selected account in the dropdown menu. It takes the account provided and matches the password from the hash.gw2lua file then decrypts the password and passes it to a command line to run the game with the parameters required to run the game while bypassing the launcher and going straight to the character select screen.

Why don’t you make resistance like protection and just cover 33% of condi damage and/or reduce condi duration by 33%?

Last I checked the name of the boon is resistance, not immunity. Plus, not all condi classes have a boon strip to remove resistance with.

Just something to think about.

So everyone always wants to have 24/7 coverage for their server in wvw in the higher tiers, right? Well, here’s an easy solution for you.

Mix EU/NA and ZH (if possible) servers.

Now you may have some concerns with latency issues. Simple solution to this, transition the server over time so that during EU prime time, the wvw servers are using an EU server as the host, during NA time, it uses an NA server, and if we can somehow fit ZH servers into the mix, have a ZH server active during ZH prime time.

Thoughts? I think it’d be a good place to start. If any devs have input they’d like to place as to why this wouldn’t be possible, that’d also be great, such as why EU and NA have to be separated and can’t be combined in this manner.

Please ANet…. please! as someone who spends most time on necro/ele/mesmer, please! Why did you have to make the butt capes so incredibly poofy on the light armor? >.< I just can’t. This is screaming to get reskinned immediately once I finish it off. Precursors and legendaries shouldn’t scream “reskin me!”

Just no, please! I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but especially on the male light armors… we don’t need poofy butt capes that go out unreasonably far. >.<

Ascended Stat Swapping - Aquabreathers

Hey all,

I know there are some of you out there who don’t care the slightest bit about aquabreathers, but some of us do like to maximize out stats for even while we’re underwater.

I’m sure there’s other people out there besides me, who don’t have a crazy ton of gold to spend on getting 1 of every single stat set as ascended, and usually are lucky to have a full set.

My issue here is that you simply cannot do any stat swapping on ascended aquabreathers at all, especially considering that it fully replaces your head gear while underwater.

This is the “Excuse” that support gave me when I asked them about it:

“Thank you for contacting us here at Guild Wars 2 Support.
Aquabreathers cannot be used with the Anthology of Heroes. It does not count as armor. The stats cannot be changed. "

When I then asked if they could replace my aquabreather with the materials that i used to make it:

“From our investigation, we have found that the Occam’s Cloth Breather was obtained on December 10, 2015. Because of the time frame since then, we are unable to replace the breather with the materials.”

Well, that would’ve been nice information to know back at the beginning of december when I swapped from exotic to ascended on that aquabreather.

So This guy passed me up going 2-3x my speed while I was boosting in the Drone Race Adventure. I’ve reported him a few days ago, but I haven’t even seen anything of it, and the guy is still online.

These bots are rampant in Winter Wonderland, and there’s usually 10+ in every single instance I’ve been in. I’ve been reporting them, but I’ve not seen a single thing come of it, because they’re still running it non-stop teleporting to the chest every single time it resets or teleporting to the spot where they fell a tiny bit after they fall.

I’m sure you guys at ANet have all of the tools needed to insta ban all of these bots, and if you ran those tools, you’d do FAR more good than harm.

If you DO NOT do anything about these bots, this game will just turn into the same thing as Diablo 3. Overrun w/ bots and the devs not doing anything about it, and the community slowly starting to accept that botting is the only alternative to keep up w/ all the economic shifts.

The wintersday JP is only amplifying the usefulness of bots. Please do something or show us that you’re watching!

Well, stacking duration on auras needed to go. It was possible to stack over 2 minutes of frost auras at the start of a match.

Right, so if you read my idea in the comment above:

Maybe they could solve the “issues” with this by making it a per source duration, so you can’t have 5 tempests just spamming Flash Freeze and have 25 seconds of Frost Aura, but instead you’d have to stagger those all 1 at a time, but if you blast a ice field while frost aura is going, only 1 of the blasts every 3 seconds will increase your duration, and a leap will increase your frost aura every 1x every 5 seconds.

This way you can only have so many sources provide the frost aura. 1 person’s blast every 3 seconds, your own leap every 5 seconds, flash freeze every 5 seconds (if you’ve got lots of tempests), etc. Max duration per source based on the duration that it provides.

I’ve been running an auramancer build and have found that my auras are simply just overwriting themselves when I cast one that’s already active. This kinda sucks.

For example, say we have magnetic aura, there’s a bunch of different ways that tempests can get this aura going, and sometimes I can’t keep track of when the last time my Trait method procced, so I’m stuck with wasting some uptime on my magnetic aura.

Another example, say we have an ice field down, and you’re going to go for a leap to get 5 seconds of frost aura, well someone decides that right after you land that they’re going to blast it and give everyone in the area 3 seconds of frost aura, now instead of 5 seconds, you’re down to 3 seconds.

IMO: Auras should stack in duration instead of replacing the existing one with the latest version that was cast. This would make it quite a bit less of a headache on keeping track of your lightly flickering auras that are barely even visible now.

It’s by design, they actually did this half-way through the beta weekend and thought it was a good idea.

I see what you mean there. We don’t want to mess w/ balance at all. We just want to mess w/ convenience mostly. So maybe we can do something like this:

tier 1 – harvesting speed increased 15%
tier 2 – harvesting speed increased 20% + Chance for harvesting tools to retain use when harvesting lower tier nodes (maybe 25%).
tier 3 – harvesting speed increased 25%
tier 4 – harvesting speed increased 30% + View current map nodes

I think that’s why he specified “(ie gems)”.

Works for me.

Would be more useful to me than the current “get extra crafting XP” mastery, which gives me no benefit at all but I still have to grind it to get to the masteries beneath it.

Maybe Extra Gathering XP could be something for it… xD!

I was running around a few days ago w/ a friend harvesting all of the nodes around different maps and we found it frustrating that we could only see nodes within a certain distance of ourselves. So we thought it would be really nice to have a mastery track that once fully complete shows all of the mining nodes (no matter the distance) on the current map that you’re on.

So if we were to build the Mastery Track for ANet to implement, what would we make the different levels of mastery be? How many tiers would it be?

I think that starting with something for the speed of harvesting/mining/logging would be a nice boost, so maybe a 25-33% boost to the speed of the action.

What does everyone think about the idea?

I would really like to see something like this :
Remove all amulets from PvP, and replace them with Stat points – each Stat point represents 100 in stats. You’ll get 30 points and can split them between the stats you want.

guesting can be used to be more likely to end up on a different copy of a map, especially if you aren’t repping a guild when you do it. It can be used to find an open dungeon, or just get to a different map to see different people, or when say a map is bugged like the waves of people dying randomly, etc.

Allowing anyone to influence another server at a whim with ‘wvw guesting’, would be detrimental in a myriad of ways.

Ah, but applying influence somewhere else would make it so your influence isn’t on your current world, which means that you may be helping another world out, but your world will suffer as a cost, since you’re not there to defend it. Think of it as a Mercenary group. People could form groups that go and help out the worlds that pay them the most or they could go help a world that looks like they need the help the most. Their home may suffer as a result or it may not because queues are full.

So as an example, how can it be detrimental for someone in BG, TC, or JQ to go and help out Keineng or Yaks Bend?

I’ll say there is no way this can work out in many ways this can be exploitable in so many ways.

When inventing games these days all ideas have to revolve around how can this be exploitable and if it can be exploitable what can you do to prevent it.

This in all means can’t be fixed.

You can get from trolls, to guilds of low servers being paid to fill up one borderland and stay still not doing a thing. Have people spaying on all borderlands 24/7.

All this will make support work 3 times as much so they ban all the people from helping out the other servers from cheating.

So think of some way to make it work.

The main thing I’m trying to fix is the 100% useless “Guesting” option on worlds. So I thought maybe we could try something that lets us play with out friends on other worlds in a wvw setting since we already have pvp and pve w/ mega servers.

If your concern is spying and breaking stuff, well, in pvp I could join a game and pretend to be useful and look like I’m doing stuff, but in reality suck it up and hand the game to the other team. I can also do this in PvE, join a Teq or Tri Wurm and just leech the run without contributing anything except maybe enough damage to barely get credit.

I think you just answered your own question for your critics with some of your examples. If you’re trying to say that since you can manipulate matches in SPvP, you should be able to do that in WvW, the Devs will never consider your suggestion.

The key argument here isn’t about what YOU want to guest for, but for what OTHER people would do to abuse such a mechanic. I’m sorry I had to prove you wrong. So unfortunately, it doesn’t matter what you think. As long as the option opens the door for others to do things Anet didn’t intend on allowing, then it won’t be allowed.

If you’re so adamant about playing with your friends, do what we all do. Pay the Gems for the transfer, or delete all characters and transfer for free.

So help me create something that will prevent it from being exploited instead of just trying to counter the idea.

If you truly wanted to play wvw with your friend, try eotm. You can be allies if you’re the same color, or fight each other if you’re different colors. Alot of people said eotm is not real wvw, but it’s an option if you want to play with your friend but not in pvp or pve. Guesting to different world for wvw is a bad idea, considering what would stop t1 server to recruit t2 server for match making. It’s a headache i doubted anet wanted to take.

That’s the problem. We’re not always the same color, in fact rarely are. Otherwise I would just eotm with them.

Then I’ll use one of my Alts on Maguuma to guest to BG, to spy on their movements for TC.

You’re making this more complicated than it should be. I could easily just wait til a spot opens up on another server and buy my way in and spy on them if I wanted to do that. Or even just delete all my chars and swap over for free.

For all the reasons posted in the countless threads back when free transfers were in effect, and WvW was unbalanced even more.

I’m sure you can peruse said threads back from the early months after release to get a better understanding of the drawbacks.

Guesting does server the purpose of letting you (possibly) change the IP-map you are in. Sometimes, that is desirable.

As for WvW, I don’t think it would be a good idea. For the same reasons free transfers were eliminated.

Some servers all ready have a wait line to get into wvw, how would you handle people who are current server residence not being able to play because of guests?

It’s called…pay 20 bucks to move like I had to. They really love to milk them forced server changes if you want to play in WvW that isn’t dead. Be thankful OP that you are actually on a good WvW server and not on a dead one like my original server I been on for three years; it was once in top 3 until everyone left to join the opposing teams BG/JQ after a few losses and now its at the bottom with barely anyone playing.

I’ve been on Blackgate since maybe week 2 of gw2 launch when they allowed everyone 1 free world transfer.

Opens up a lot of opportunity for wild swings in the balance of WvW.. They don’t even let you create characters on multiple worlds. It’s baked in to the core of the game.

Yeah, maybe Yaks Bend could end up T1 via guests.

You mean the guesting from world select… Which I have a feeling is used maybe 5% of the time anyone logs in xD. Umm yea, over all useless; but looking for a use isn’t really a good reason to change it into something that would cause a ton of problems.

hmmm… if guesting would allow WvW on another server that your home server isn’t currently matched against…. then why not? … what harm would that do?

Hey t1 server, we are a t2 server, if you guest and report for us every so often we will do the same for you…

It’d help them get up to your level and maybe even end up creating yourself more competition.

The current “guesting” system does still have the function of letting people join their friends mega server, and is used pretty frequently for world boss events. So the over all use has changed some, but it’s not useless, and still servers a valid purpose.

So, I’ve been emailing support back and forth about this topic and I’ve decided to get try and get some more attention to this.

What is the real point of guesting to another world now!? ALL of PvE and PvP has a megaserver and you can play with your friends everywhere regardless of what server you’re on and you have no need to guest, but that’s the only use that guesting has currently.

But what about WvW? Say you’re in Blackgate and just want to go check out another server that you’re not against currently to see how they’re doing. Or maybe even you’ve got friends on another server that you’re not against and want to WvW with them for the day or for the week.

What are people’s opinions on the matter?

What would be good restrictions on this?

What would need to be in place to prevent this from being exploited (if possible)?

Lets give the guesting feature a new use since it’s useless in its current state.

If your concern is spying and breaking stuff, well, in pvp I could join a game and pretend to be useful and look like I’m doing stuff, but in reality suck it up and hand the game to the other team. I can also do this in PvE, join a Teq or Tri Wurm and just leech the run without contributing anything except maybe enough damage to barely get credit.

FPS Issue with the 9/9 patch [merged]

Funny thing I’ve had lately, but I’m not sure if it’s related to just the game or something in my hardware, but I’ve had the Exact same FPS no matter what settings I put the game on, and it usually hovers around 5-15 FPS no matter what I’m doing.

CPU: i7-4790 @ 3.60 GHz
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 1g

I have parking disabled on my CPU. Anyone got any ideas?

Also, my wife’s computer has a GTX 650 and an i5-3350P @ 3.10 Ghz and gets an average of 45 FPS in combat.

EDIT:

So in a bit of process monitoring, I found that my CPU Frequency is dropping whenever I run any game. Anyone got a solution to this?

Edit 2:

I figured out that it was due to the Intel SpeedStepping Tech in the BIOS Settings. I disabled this and the results are that the game runs AMAZING now!

What if Moto decided that he doesn’t even care about the Dragons and their terror they bring. So Moto decides to continue working on the SAB while everyone else in the world seems to panic.

Why can’t more than 1 thing happen in the world at a time?
It seems that the entire world of Tyria is only able to focus on the Dragons when the Dragons appear. What if Moto didn’t give a skritt about the dragons?

Consider this:

All of the Living Story takes place after the hero has killed zhaitan. You’re bound to be level 80 by then. So just go play the original story all of the way through and you’ll definately be 80 before you even get there. So if its story content you’re after, finish what you’ve got going first.

Since ArenaNet is wanting us to focus on being able to replay the stories for rewards based on achievements, I personally think that these should not just be a 1 time reward type of system.

Imagine being able to actually replay the story and get rewards every time. Not just the first time you complete it. How much greater would the living story be if this were the case?

Also: I’d like to be able to go back and replay my 1-80 personal story sometimes on the same char AND get rewards again (of course in story arches like 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, etc.)

How much greater could the actual story line be if we had this kind of replayability going on for everything.

Testing out a Magi Healing build on ele. So far so good, I can manage to keep a nomad build warrior up when running dungeons duo. It also works rather well for wvw and pumping out crazy heals for the zerg. Its kinda nice seeing 1000+ heals with every auto attack on water staff and almost +2000 from Geyser.

Having run Cele Ele and loving it before, I absolutely would say that cele ele is worth it many times over and over. Sure it may not put out the highest dps numbers or the highest healing amounts or the highest conditions, but it makes it so you’re able to do everything all at once, you can heal, condition, have a little armor, a bit more health, have a decent crit chance and crit damage. It becomes a trait game at that point, need a bit more power? Swap to 6 fire and 6 air. Need a bit more tankyness? Swap to 6 water and 6 earth or whatever fits your playstyle.

Running Cele Ele gives you the most choices of what you can do and what you can make at least somewhat effective. Cele Ele is mostly used by me when I run wvw or solo around in pve.

On cele ele I usually run 6 fire, 6 water, 2 arcane and a staff so that I can have a bit more damage and a bit more vit/healing as to be a bit more useful in those departments.
