ANet keeps the numbers confidential to prevent abuse. It’s not hard to have a bunch of spare accounts standing by to flood your enemy’s borderlands as you’re pushing their side of the map if you see it’s outnumbered, as a rather extreme example.

I do this with my 72 accounts all the time…..

Ranking players based on wexp earned is a horrible idea. All we need in WvW is more individuals caring about wexp/karma farming. This game needs less rankings and not more. It still kills me people get so bent out of shape of how others play this game and don’t focus on their own fun. People clamored for more rewards and for rankings to mean something in WvW and Anet gives them. Now the playerbase gets upset the rewards aren’t fair. Kitten if they do and kitten if they don’t.

Lol, rangers either have to bunker spec to survive my thief, and thus they can never kill me. If they spec dps, I can two shot them. Let’s not even discuss their laughably broken pets. ANET basically admitted that they cannot fix pets since pet moves are tied to the coding of all mob moves, lol.

WvW is the most imbalanced area to fight in this game. You are always going to be up against a build/spec that is deemed OP because it can easily counter yours. Running a zerker Ranger in WvW solo you’re gonna have a bad time. As skilled as you probably are you’re gonna get melted by more than one class and yes we get it you dislike fighting thieves because they can slip from your grasp so easily. WvW isn’t sPvP welcome to the jungle.

Dunno why they delayed, more of a treat for us that they didn’t, though! :] And yeah, they shoulda rushed us, but we were able to just push in and lure them to the bridge over and over in small groups. Much easier to manage a fight when it’s chunks of an elephant rather than the whole one, you know.

PS. If we have 6 people (kinda rare!) and we kill you 1v6, you were probably in the way that we were running or you were one of those thieves who trails along behind us trying to pop out of stealth and burst someone down before stealthing again. Sry, can’t control bloodlust of the boys when either of those things happen. We’re always roaming and looking for equal-to-larger fights, 1 person just ain’t that.

Naa I’m stupid but not stupid enough to go into a solid guild group alone. I was in the way one time and the second time I was scouting outside hills (poorly mind you as I went afk). Either way effective CC’s and nasty burst.

I’ve had a ton of fun this matchup albeit not being able to play as much. I’ve seen some really good small man groups from BP. I was able to get in a small ruckus with HOP earlier in the week and met two deaths at the hands of vT. Props to you guys/gals. Also can’t agree with the notion MU runs from fights, just ask me how many times they’ve ruined my 1 vs 20. Apologies to the two BP warriors I spam /sat /sleep /dance /dry hump’d on but if you’re gonna focus me in a large scale fight and then proceed to die it’s your own fault.

You should never lose out on the capture credit if you’ve tagged a guard or done damage to a wall. Granted it CAN happen just be more alert to attacking and putting in some type of damage to something in the keep/tower/camp. The lord can fall extremely fast with huge zergs maybe follow a less larger zerg? Loosing out on the capture credit honestly should never happen unless you haven’t been with the zerg the entire time. Get some quickness and stay on the blue dorito if it’s still is huge issue.

It really hasn’t though. Those little npc camps were specifically designed to influence supply logistics. Just because there are npc’s around, doesn’t make it PvE. In the thousands of hours playing W3, not once did I or anyone else I know consider it PvE. Realistically, It has never been PvE… until the achievements and LS additions started up.

Wasn’t 100% sure to respond or not after looking at your sig and then rereading mine but I decided to take a stab at it just for rangers and giggles. I’m sorry if that’s how you’ve perceived my statement, but the fact is players have been able to engage targets in WvW that are part of the environment since the launch of WvW. Also I never said WvW is PvE, I said it has existed in WvW even though you have never considered it. Most if not all of the WvW’ers in these threads had at one time asked for the achievements and something to work towards (rank/AP) so you can partially thank the community for that. I think the one thing we can agree on though is this game needs more Charr

Once again I’ll post this for those to ponder on since it was deleted in the last thread. I fail to see where this is a huge problem. PvE has and always will exist in WvW get over it, move on. Nothing forces you to do them just like I avoid the Hyleks, Ogres and Dredge unless it’s cutting off or calling out enemy movements. These events are there so no one cries over the fact that there are more dailies available to PvE players than WvW players. Please try to look at the positives this brings to your gaming experience in WvW. More people to spike = more WxP = more loot bags. Take a step back and realize the more people you have running through WvW the more developers will take interest in your concerns. Unless you don’t want more people playing the one area of the game you enjoy.

There’s an alternative. Join a guild whose only specific purpose is to down this boss (and potential future ones). Listen to the guild chat or read the guild message of the day to see when attempts are being made. I’ve missed one reset kill so far(only due to the fact that I wasn’t online for a day). Never once have I been on TS. I’ve done both turret defense and been part of the dps group. Last night the guild had two kills at the same time on 2 different overflows, the attempt I was in at least one turret was empty a good portion of the entire fight. I guess you can argue that maybe this isn’t how you should “have” to do it but then maybe it’s time to look outside one’s comfort zone and use what you have at your disposal to get the enjoyment out of this event. Just my 2 cents….. Plus one added bonus has been the ability to talk to both old server mates and WvW foes directly. At least for me this event has connected me more with the whole GW2 community then it has turned me from it.

Defending a good turret operator is just as important as burning the boss. I’ve been in turret defense groups as a condition based thief and have just melted the waves coming after the turrets.

Apologies as a guest earlier today to the Blackgate community. I was able to get in for 5 attempts on Tequatl and learned alot to take back to my home server in order to help potentially down it there which hopefully alleviates more people having to guest to the higher servers. Also everyone there was respectful and didn’t seem to have that huge an issue with it which I greatly appreciated. Progress was made every attempt and the commanders were organized and took the time to explain what to do with each new event attempt to the people that had just joined. If anything Blackgate came away a winner for showcasing the good their community has in organization and guild leaders who care to work with one another towards a common goal. Hats off to Blackgate.

We were talking about this on our forums tonight and I’ll pilfer this data from another server-mate about stats:

Depends. If the game was changed so as to not disenfranchise currently happy players but at the same time made currently under served players happier and more liable to stick around for the long term that would be nothing but good for the game.

Population must be maintained in order for MMOs to work and they can only live for so long on churn. Having a core, loyal playerbase is essential.

Skill is not the primary differencing factor between “casual” and “hardcore.”

The problem right now is the rewards of skill are few and far between in WvW. It alienates a not insignificant chunk of people. It is an imbalance that should be worked out. Imo, the health of WvW depends on it.

They can also go to far the other way of course. tPvP has this issue atm. The skilled, practiced players get everything and everyone else gets screwed. The result is empty tPvP queues, because nobody who isn’t currently skilled can become skilled enough to be anything but fodder.

Did you ever play GW1? I’m only asking because it did have a dedicated core player base. All of my current gaming friends I made were in GW1 and they all but one still play here in GW2. I ask you, who are the underserved players? Players that are use to the way other MMO’s operate and are upset this game does not follow suit? I’m fairly certain Anet knows how to maintain a player base and hope to god they don’t cave to every tear they see shed on the forums. In the same turn I applaud when they do take note of wonderful ideas the community brings them but also realize some of the large changes that are wanted aren’t an easy “fix it this week”.

Never have I said zerg players aren’t dedicated, not sure where you pulled that one from. I considered myself dedicated as I play the same amount of time most nights and spend a fairly large amount of that time in WvW. How is WvW not casual PvP? True there are players that spend ALOT of time there but the general premises behind it’s creation was and still is for anyone to jump in kill some things and leave anytime they want to. Making WvW a dedicated effort is solely on the shoulders of the individual player. Also knocking Morningstar is pretty much uncalled for. The guy did nothing but try and help newer players understand the mechanics of the game in EB and that says a lot for a character of a guy to try and take time out to actually educate new players. Does he have an obsession with SM, yea but we all have our own quirks.

Are you referring to small man groups being alienated? What rewards are you looking for for being skilled in WvW? A title, different armor or the undying love of the entire server for being the best at ganking uplevels? I have more respect for the known small man groups on my server and the server’s I have faced than the larger zerg guilds. AD, NoQQ, Larp, Envy, Btsy these guys and gals I have seen play first hand. I know they are good and I’ll bet others do too when they run up against them.

I enjoy the game as is (Minus culling, downed state, npcs, rallying off of raccons, THIEVES, zergs, the absence of the holy trinity, and the lack of the /FLEX emote (this one hurts the most ANET). Crazy I know.

Wanting to make it more hardcore will only cause the casual player to avoid it like the plague. Anet needs to potentially rethink and possibly implement their GvG formats they had in GW1. A different area to PvP with a more hardcore mindset is where they need to focus in future updates. Bending WvW out of it’s current state will only discourage both sides from playing it and open up more complaints.

I think you must have read a completely different post than mine. At no point did I utter any mention of “hardcore” or “casual.”

All I said is that it is in Jairon’s best interest to support change, even though he is perfectly content, if the number of people who are also perfectly content is self-sustaining enough to keep the action going for as long as he is planning on playing.

Because if the population is not self-sustaining the entire system will collapse very quickly once the critical mass has faded.

If he believe that the long-term viability of the population is not in question then he shouldn’t support change, but if he doesn’t believe then he should support change. Because in that case change is the only way to avert disaster.

Personally, I spent $45 on Station Cash cards over the holidays for Planetside 2. Literally the only reason I haven’t spent any money on gems is because either a) the offerings are not appealing to me or b) I do not believe the offerings are a good value.

That is a horrible argument. All of the hardcore pvpers i know bought tons of gems so they could gear out quickly. Not to mention half of the guild has or is close to their legendary.

Maybe this is the problem. You definition of a hardcore pvper and mine are not the same then. My argument is not horrible as I know many hardcore pvpers who laugh at the idea of spending hard earned $$$ on an item that just has a different look.

Guess what, it’s working, at least people are posting. I think most people are willing to have rational discussion when you get down to it, but most of that stuff gets ignored and buried under troll and whine posts.

Most people shoot down this DAoC stuff without taking into consideration that they might just like it too.

God forbid people want to make guild wars a better game by looking at “the game” that laid some of the best frame work in the genre.

Yeah, but I already know I enjoy WvWvW as is. So why would any sane person risk losing something they enjoy in order to try out something different, because it would make someone they’ve never met happier?

Obviously that “best frame work” is a subjective assessment based on how you enjoy playing a game. Right now, in my limited experience, GW2 has the “best frame work.” My opinion in this matter and yours are equally valid.

Okay… So I should want to change the game to accommodate a bunch of players who don’t enjoy the game as is, when I do, so that I keep more of those people around, at the expense of potentially not being able to enjoy it myself, and losing the people like myself who enjoy it as is?

You should if the number of people who also like what you like isn’t big enough to be largely self-sustaining. At least then you have a chance to still enjoy it. Otherwise it’ll all fall to pieces real quick.

I have to disagree. I just don’t see the die hard PvP player spending $$$ on gems to customize his/her character. That individual doesn’t give a kitten about BLSK’s, keys, minipets or gold tbh. Yet that player expects the game to cater to his/her desires just as equally as the PvE player. WvW is casual PvP plain and simple. Wanting to make it more hardcore will only cause the casual player to avoid it like the plague. Anet needs to potentially rethink and possibly implement their GvG formats they had in GW1. A different area to PvP with a more hardcore mindset is where they need to focus in future updates. Bending WvW out of it’s current state will only discourage both sides from playing it and open up more complaints.

Wouldn’t this be better suited in the current match-up thread? I cannot see how this type of post can in anyway be “helpful” to a server.
