I’m glad someone else caught this! I submitted a bug report about it yesterday.
I’d love to be able to hop out of WvW and still receive my pip rewards and end-of-skirmish bonus.
Two hours can be a long time to stick around and keep participation up, and it’s always depressing leaving WvW knowing you’re leaving earned rewards behind.
My slow acquisition of Mystic Coins (20/mo, plus 20-30 more IF I can hit a Ley Line daily) is a bottleneck. I find myself hoarding OTHER materials as well, just because I don’t craft anything with them.
Take the Mystic weapon set, for example, the hammer in particular. Not too bad on the resources front! 30 Orichalcum Ore, 30 Ancient Wood Log, an Eldritch Scroll.
But then, 30 Mystic Coins. That’s a month of daily log-ins PLUS being able to hit a specific event at a specific time.
Then consider the fact that the weapon’s required as part of a collection achievement for Scrappers.
It’s easy to become cynical when you look at recipes like that (“Is this just a ploy to get me to log in every day?”). It’s also easy to hoard all your OTHER crafting materials; if you’re not using them with Mystic Coins for endgame skins, where else would you use them?
I know I would craft and forge a lot more items if Mystic Coins weren’t the bottleneck. I’d love to drain my stockpile of Orichalcum Ingots and Ancient Planks. I’d happily run the dungeons for Gifts. I’d rampage around the world making it a point to collect resources. I’d spend my gold on gems and gifts for friends.
Right-click to accept would be a nice compromise.
It’s aggravating to have to click a flashing, bouncing chest and clear the popup for two salvage items and a green.
I’m confused. On the pages for other phantasms, their “attack skill” is listed; for example:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Phantasmal_Duelist
lists Illusory Unload as having a 6s recharge time. In terms of that Phantasmal Haste link, would that mean the “cast time” of Illusory Unload is 1.6s?
Having the Daze/Interrupt on the FIRST keypress would be a HUGE improvement. I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen a skill animation start, hammered the 2 key, and been let down by the daze not going off by the time the enemy’s skill completes.
The rest of the idea is really neat, but I would be really happy if Debilitating Slam and Punishing Sweep were flipped.
I have one! Reaper shouts sound AMAZING.
Revenants can’t use racial skills. Keep that in mind when offering suggestions!
I’d like a tweak on an old item — Name Change Contracts.
It’d be great if you could consume just TWO contracts to “swap” names between two characters on your account.
At the moment, you need THREE – change Character 1 to a temporary name, Character 2 to Character 1’s name, and THEN a third to change Character 1 to Character 2’s name.
Requiring three contracts to make what should be two switches is too costly.
Excuse the hasty photoshopping, but this could work:
Man, that’s pretty.
Thanks, everyone.
That’s a huge bummer; I’d be happy to spend two NCCs to swap names, but that third step is making me rethink how much money I want to spend on this!
Thanks for the quick responses, folks!
So to SWAP names, I’d need three contracts?
C1 → temp. name
C2 → N1
C1 → N2
Can you use Name Change Contracts to SWAP names between characters on your account?
Let’s say I have two Necromancers. I like the animations and voice on one, but I like the name on the other. What’s the easiest way to get Name 1 onto Character 2?
Do NCCs put a character in “limbo” until a new name is chosen? If so, I can just pop the NCC on both characters and swap them. If I HAVE to have a new name at the time I pop the NCC, though, there has to be a third character to shuffle the name to!
I don’t want to have to pull the Globetrotters into the mix just to land the name I like on the character I want. Name Change Contracts are EXPENSIVE (not to mention a new character slot), so I’d like to know how everything works before I pull the trigger.
Thanks.
Or find some way to do quests/collections for the armor sets in the gem store.
I would be happier without the center disc. The outline of the circle/skills would be much more elegant.
As it stands (on the disc), enemy fields are hard to read, and tricky jumps are tougher to land.
I would love a “Name Swap” item.
A trend going back to GW1 is having a “nickname” you use on many characters. Sweetname I, Sweetname Il, Sweety Sweetname, etc. In a game with multiple characters, but only one player, having a common nickname between characters can help friends tell who you are.
I have multiple characters (two per class, in different races), and I’ve found that I enjoy voices/animations on some race/class combinations more than others. I would LOVE to be able to transfer my “nickname” to those race/class characters I prefer.
At the moment, to swap NAME B to NAME A, I would have to 1) buy additional character slot, 2) buy name change from NAME A to NAME C, and 3) buy name change from NAME B to NAME A. That’s assuming I don’t want to swap NAME C and NAME B again (which would require another purchase). That’s pricey!
If I could purchase a single “Name Swap” item for a direct NAME A to NAME B swap, I certainly would.
Will the Elite-Fractal Veteran and Elite-Fractal Master achievements be affected?
I’m refusing to buy bag slots until they’re account-wide. At a price of 400 gems (80g at the moment), there’s not nearly enough value.
I would propose the general LF decrease from be lowered from 4% to 3%, while letting the trait decrease this value by another 33%. This way, using this trait will give us the same values as today but at least we have some lower decrease for every necro.
I really like this idea!
Axe #2 feels like it should be an AoE. Even a short-range 100-radius AoE would be fantastic for clumps of mobs.
I don’t PvP much, but in PvE Axe is okay. I’ve been using it exclusively to work on Weapon Master, and it hasn’t been a burden. Still, I always catch myself thinkng #2 will hit multiple enemies.
Machined has gears, but the color’s wrong. Plated has gears, but they don’t move. Peacemaker’s is tech-like and is the right color.
Whisperblade / Tormented are “Mesmery,” too.
Then again, there’s always Bonetti’s Rapier (my favorite sword skin)!
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_upgrade
Many of those upgrades do create a sense of urgency, especially for WvW. Having those upgrades in place adds depth to the game mode, so it’s understandable that a lot of guilds are trying to rush them.
There’s also some upfront frustration, because many of the benefits we had access to before Guild Halls have been taken away and locked behind upgrades. It’s not fun sacrificing all your crafting mats to get back something you already had.
My guild runs a Silverwastes event every week. I try to put myself in charge of running a bull (Red → Amber), just so I can keep moving and not stand around a fort the whole time.
If timed well, I can take out a couple Slingers attacking red during their defense event, help with the Red→Indigo bull at its first enemy spawn point, run my Red→Amber bull, and then take out some more Slingers attacking Amber.
I contribute to four events. It would seem fair that I receive credit for four events. I’d expect Bronze for the “extra” events — I don’t usually have time to kill more than five or six enemies — but removing all rewards entirely seems too heavy-handed.
It’s frustratingly out of reach. The benefits are not in line with the cost.
What’s your most geared character now?
Did you press F?
I think it’s strange that we don’t get experience for killing mobs in story missions, even though story missions are gated behind experience.
I’d be okay with the removal of sprocket pickups. My pick has earned back the investment.
Sprocket nodes should be added, and there are plenty of spots for ‘em — techy-type JPs, Jinx Isle in Malchor’s Leap, around CoE and the other Inquest areas, maybe Rata Novus — to give EVERYONE a fair shake at gathering sprockets at a decent rate.
I don’t think infinite mining tools should confer additional benefits; not having to constantly buy tools is nice enough, the rest should be purely aesthetic.
I think it would be a nice gesture to allow a one-time turn-ins of ANY infinite gathering tools in exchange for a free one of the same type (including sickles and axes). It would be a nice “do-over” of sorts to let everyone pick up a tool they like aesthetically.
For runes, Trooper will give Toughness and Vitality (and condition removal on shouts). Melandru gives Toughness with a little Vitality, and has -condition duration.
I would love for token rewards to be increased.
“I’d like to earn dungeon rewards!” should not be met with, “Do the PvP track.”
I have no problems with the PvP tracks; they’re great to have around. Post-HoT, though, LFG dungeon runs are few and far between, with most people content to use the tracks as their sole method of obtaining dungeon tokens.
I still enjoy dungeons. It’s still good content. It would be nice to have more of an incentive to go there, though, and increased dungeon tokens is a perfect start.
Any updates? My maps are still missing.
I map completed my Warrior almost by accident. It’s really smooth.
Revenant (Herald) is incredibly easy, as well.
Here’s to hoping our maps get fixed.
I’m bummed that I don’t have a character I can swap to when guildies are doing map meta events.
However, this bug gave me incentive to complete the story missions on other characters. To get so I can swap to those characters when guildies are doing map meta events.
I hope there’s a restoration of our maps soon (or at the VERY least, a go-ahead to start re-mapping on our bugged characters).
Actually all content from expansion was lost, including achievements
I was working ON Achievement stuff when it happened — I finished the mission I was on and got the last achievement I needed for the Act, and got the rewards for them. I don’t think Achievement or story progress was wiped for me.
Good to know that it’s not client-specific, though. Still a strange (and frustrating!) one, to be sure.
If it helps at all, I was running the 64-bit client.
My PvP track (I was going for Jungle Wolf) was swapped to CoF’s without my doing so.
My Elite Specialization was also taken off my traitlines, and I had to re-equip it.
Trying to check to see what else I’m missing.
JUST HAPPENED TO ME, TOO.
I was redoing the “Torn From The Sky” mission for achievements. I exited a mission, and when trying to re-enter, I was kicked to Lion’s Arch.
All my waypoints, PoIs, and vistas in the new maps were reset. Mastery points and Hero Challenges remain completed (I just can’t see them, as the maps are fogged out).
Wasn’t anywhere near the Guild Hall when it happened.
Guild banners or banners bought with commendations? It wouldn’t let me drop a guild banner earlier. I repped my personal guild. Pulled up the panel with the banners and nothing happened when I clicked on one.
Mine were bought with commendations.
6 hours and my Tyrian masteries were complete. Spent most of my time running, because being in the stack was boring.
I loved it! It reminded me of “old-school” pulling in games like FF11, and it was fun to hang out and kill everything with guildies. I don’t feel bad about grinding CoF because I didn’t get any drops. It seemed like a harmless way to fill up the bars.
I bought HoT because I wanted to play HoT; the Tyrian masteries were just there and “things to do.” I’m too poor for the Legendaries, too low for the Fractals, I just wanted those things done and out of the way so I could focus on the new stuff.
Autoloot IS nice, though.
(You CAN drop banners in dungeons; I dropped a few Experience banners inside.)
1. Autoloot made available as an Ability Track.
2. Everyone specs into that first, because nobody likes missing loot.
3. Veterans gripe about how new players don’t have useful team abilities.
4. New players gripe about not having any points for useful abilities.
5. Everybody gripes on the forums about how Autoloot should be standard in WvW.
6. Everybody on the forum gets ignored for a while.
Can we just skip all the steps above, make autoloot standard in WvW, and all be happy?
Making autoloot standard in WvW won’t wreck gameplay. If anything, it will motivate people to train PvE masteries to unlock it there; WvW’s version would be a perfect “preview” of how well it works.
Just make it standard, for everyone, without the need to spend ability points on it. Let’s all save each other some trouble.
CS – dmu
DA – mdd
DD – uud
(can replace No Quarter with Invigorating Precision for survivability)
Berserker+Scholar
Keep Bounding Dodger buff up, use Weakening Charge. glhf
I would suggest going to the GW2 wiki and searching on each mat that you need
to find how to acquire.
It’s not for the mats. The bags themselves are required for Guild Hall upgrading.
I thought for sure Heavy Supply Bags would be dropped somewhere in HoT. Instead, enemies there (Coztic, iirc) drop Heavy Bags of Supply. Some poor dev probably just got the two mixed up.
It’s an easy mistake. Hope it’ll get fixed soon.
TOO MANY BAGS, ANET! You’re confusing yourselves. =p
It makes maneuvering MORE difficult. And it looks ridiculous.
Remove the wiggle, please.
Floor wasn’t there. Couldn’t get to the rift.
That, and THE VENTS FAIL ABOUT HALF THE TIME. I get “half-bounced” like the beginning animation of the Bouncing Mushrooms, I don’t get bounced at all, the glider won’t deploy, you name it.
Unbelievably frustrating.
Hey there, Gaile!
While I won’t be able to partake in the event for very long (weekends are super busy), I’ll do my best to snap a few photos here and there!
(Any chance the event could run for a full week?) =p
Having this same problem. Got to the airship and stalled at the giants.
Hi!
I had thirty-something Essences of Luck to click through. I right-clicked the stack to find the options “Use” and “Destroy.” I clicked on “Use” to see what would happen, and it used just one. Got me thinking.
It would be great if we had another option to “Use All” in the right-click menu, especially when dealing with Luck stacks.
It would save on inventory clutter (saving 100 to combine with an Artificer), and using two clicks would be so much nicer than double-clicking through an entire stack.
That’s all. Thank you!
Excellent recommendations for a more “offensive” build! Your ideas are much better than mine if you want to do world bosses or the occasional dungeon.
I was thinking more about the “running” aspect of map completion, which I think takes up the bulk of the time. For that, I think the Honor line has some great options.
Protector’s Impact (I typed the auto-cast skill instead of the trait earlier, my bad) is also incredibly handy for general map movement. You don’t have to worry as much about getting down off of vistas or those frustrating fall deaths.
The increased endurance regeneration (Vigorous Precision and Purity of Body) give you more dodges to avoid attacks, too.
When I went through my map completion, though, I was most concerned about condition clearing. Clearing things like chill/cripple are necessary, and clearing the other stuff will get you out of combat (and combat speed) quicker. With Pure of Voice and three shouts on the bar, Absolute Resolution’s modification of Virtue of Resolve, and Smiter’s Boon affecting Litany of Wrath, you can breeze through those annoying condition-heavy areas/mobs.
I’d be concerned with having just one condi-clear on the bar, especially at a 60s recharge. In my opinion, that won’t be enough when you’re trying to skip a bunch of things.
Weapons: Staff + Whatever
Good ol’ Lootstick. Excellent for tagging multiple mobs to complete hearts, and #3 skill is nice for keeping Swiftness up. You’ll be able to take on 4-5 enemies at a time, which makes heart completion a breeze.
Your second weapon doesn’t matter much; you can use GS or Sword for the leap/blink, or you can work on a Weapon Master title with something else.
Utilities: Litany of Wrath + “Retreat!” + “Save Yourselves!” + Bane Signet + “Feel My Wrath!”
Retreat and Save Yourselves are your movement skills. Don’t think about it, spam them as soon as they come off cooldown. They’ll stack with each another, and they’ll stack with Staff #3. After a while, you’ll be bumpin’ around with a couple minutes’ worth of swiftness in the bank, easily “permanent” if you keep using the shouts off cooldown.
Food: I used Chocolate Oranges because I’m cheap. +10% Boon Duration for your swiftness skills (easier stacking) combined with +28% Magic Find While Boon’d is great, considering swiftness will always be up. At 4c a pop, you can buy an entire stack and forget about it.
Gear: Berserker weapons/armor/trinkets. If you’re dying (you shouldn’t be), you can swap your trinkets out for Soldier stuff. Armor runes of the Flame Legion are cheap and effective.
Traits: I went with a “bunker-esque” build. Worked out just fine. Plenty of condi clear and support stuff to keep me alive while I rampaged around lootsticking everything.
Honor: Symbol of Protection + Honorable Staff + Pure of Voice
Valor: Smiter’s Boon + Strength in Numbers + Monk’s Focus
Virtues: Unscathed Contender + Supreme Justice + Permeating Wrath
It’s probably not optimized, but it got the job done.
