icy runestones and mystic runestones being in seperate areas seems weird to me.

List looks great, overkill if anything. The Miyani-bought materials seem an odd choice. I do keep a stockpile of philosophers stones so I can easily infuse rings on the fly and might consider keeping mystic crystals, but eldritch scrolls seem like something you just buy and use when you need it.

I’m really glad you decided to add certain cooking refinements – bakers wet and dry ingredients in particular. Also, MILLING BASINS YES!

Legendary Armor Backpiece Attach Point

TLDR I prefer floating… but please do something about the shield if you can <3

So, I am guessing this is not possible, but I thought I’d throw it out there – is it possible to have different attach points for backpiece/weapons, or even different types of weapons?

I am personally not that worried about the backpiece clipping (I’m using legendary backpiece on my legendary armour character so it’s basically supposed to float anyway lol), though I can recognize why other people might. What bugs me personally is my shield randomly floating 30 yards away. Is it possible to have different attach points for say, a shield and a greatsword? You might not want a greatsword as close because it would clip into the skirt but be okay with a shield since most shields would not clip in (or if they did, maybe very little).

If that is not an option, what about trying to alter the angle at which your weapons sheathe? Just make them point backwards slightly instead of directly downwards. That would allow you to move them in more whilst avoiding clipping.

I’ll include a picture to show how ridiculous this shield problem is lol. It doesn’t look as bad with my greatsword honestly, I haven’t checked with others.

Overall I’m honestly not sure. Having it float like that is strange but I really don’t want to see it disappearing into my skirt either.

personally I run pistol instead of focus on matthias so pistol 5 is great for it, sword 4 double tap or focus 4 double tap will also do well

Is there any chance this means we could see a few changes that were made to the whole game for pvps sake reverted in pve? In particular I’d like to see True Shot for Dragonhunters be returned to its old glory in pve. The longbow and how it played, the way it centered around lining things up and creating a strong burst with true shot and general reliance on an ability that fixed your positioning but gave great reward for doing so and so on… basically the longbow FELT so much better back then and I am hoping to have that back so I once again want to use my longbow in open world pve at the least.

A Suggestion For Raids

This comes up a lot so I’m going to jump in quickly since it’s a new post.

Tier systems for Raids come up a lot as a result of what Fractals did. I worked on the original Fractals team and a tiered system with increased difficulty scaling was always part of the original plan for that team. It was never a plan for Raids. They are, and should remain, the most difficult content in the game.

Accessibility in terms of difficulty is something we talk a lot about internally. We’ve made efforts to help players get in by delivering entry level encounters that ease you into the content (STK) and you’ll see more of that in the next release. You’ll still see encounters that live up to previous raid expectations for mid tier and final bosses. And if you think Matthias is a chump then we have something for you as well.

Accessibility in terms of “Hey, my 5 man Fractal group wants to try raids, but we can’t find 5 other players!” is also something we talk about. It’s just a much more difficult problem to solve.

Hey Ms (Mrs?) Reid, just wanna say first off I’m a big fan of your work, I really like the gw2 raids and I’m looking forward to more.

You talk here about how you have intro-style encounters like STK (I assume that is Siege The Keep). I totally agree that the game should have them, I actually thought Vale Guardian was overtuned not because I found it difficult but I felt that as the first raid boss, it should serve as an introduction to how raiding works as a whole. Mechanically, it does that fantastically, it just feels a bit much for a first time group to me.

Anyway I wanted to pitch in a little on this. Clearly the easiest encounters right now are the bandit trio and siege the stronghold. I’ve no problem with the design of these encounters, nor with having encounters of this level of difficulty (as long as it’s not the only level of difficulty!). I do however think that perhaps the fights that are supposed to serve as introductions to raiding should take a more traditional boss approach rather than these kinda out-there designs. Something more akin to Gorseval, Sabetha, Keep Construct or Vale Guardian just tuned to be easier and more forgiving seems like it would be a much better introduction to raiding to me (and preferably it should be the first boss so it’s easy to access). I just don’t think there is a whole lot you can take away from an encounter like Siege The Stronghold that you can then apply to Gorseval, beyond perhaps the general concept of having specific role in a fight.

There’s still no reason for anyone to sell mystic coins because they know you are going to continue to add legendary weapons that consume huge numbers of them, and in fact you’ve now flat out said that you aren’t adding another source for them so there’s no actual risk involved in hoarding them. The only way the price would drop is if everyone suddenly stopped hoarding them and unloaded their supply but there’s no incentive for them to do that so the prices are not going to normalize.

Hmm yeah dunno, I killed gorseval again this week with my regular group on monday and didn’t have the issue. Maybe I was getting really unlucky with the adds targeting my phantasms. I was using a mix of wardens and avengers. Wardens obviously do aoe and I believe the avenger attack can bounce to enemies as well as allies.

I just did gorseval for the first time since the spring patch and noticed my phantasms were dying all the time. Anyone else encounter something similar? I couldn’t pin point what was doing it, I was wondering if the adds were targeting them, they were dying to gorsevals retaliation or taking full damage from one of his aoes…

It’s kinda weird to me, I’ve never had this trouble before. Maybe it was related to a different healer I guess? I was pugging rather than running with my usual group.

WoW raids have a variety of difficulty settings, bumping them up doesn’t just add hp/damage but also mechanics and even entire phases.

I haven’t played in a while but the tougher of the super hard mode bosses back when I was playing were definitely more difficult than gw2 raids. I would without a doubt say gw2 raids are harder than the mode below that though (which was normal mode when I quit but they’ve changed the name scheme now I think).

I don’t really think gw2 raids will ever be tuned to the razors edge that wow raids are because wows balance focus is largely on pve whereas gw2 balances focused on pvp, pve therefore will never have classes balanced well enough to create challenging content like that. You either tune around an average comp, and anyone who stacks the overpowered classes (like a bunch of condi warriors right now or something) will have a much easier time, or you tune around stacked comps and people are forced to use those comps to kill it. The latter seems to me an extremely unlikely path for arenanet to take.

Even though wow raids were harder at the top end I still like the gw2 raid so far.

edit: I should probably clarify that wow raids were tough with the gear you started them in. They became significantly easier over the course of the tier as your raid geared up.

CTTB, RS5 and warhorn 4 all work wonders in the jungle. You can shut down pretty much any scary attack. RS3’s chain skill in a pinch helps too.

This seems like it should be account bound on pickup. I wanted to use this as a source of exotic armour for my revenant, but before realizing it was soulbound I collected two pieces on a character that already has two sets of full ascended armour ><

Any chance of it being updated to account bound on pickup?

I’ve tried two of my character so far, both could put in their infused rings of red death, neither could put in their infused crystalline bands. I also tried an uninfused solaria I had sitting around in the bank randomly to see if you can attune rings that aren’t infused and it worked fine.

As was mentioned, dungeons are a broken gold faucet that have long needed to be and are being nerfed. The qq is being justified by lofty notions of dedication to content, but the heart of the matter is that mommy took the teat away and now the broken farm can’t be exploited any longer.

Silverwastes is easier, can be done while alt tabbed half the time and gives more gold than dungeons lol. Dry top is comparable, cursed shore is comparable. Dungeon gold gain is not broken.

I’m glad to hear you have tweaked the auotattack damage. I have multiple friends who’ve retired their engis because the pve rotation is just so taxing, being able to have the hammer as a base weapon and change out grenades for a different utility, maybe just using elixir gun and flamethrower for acidbomb and napalm/flame blast might be enough to tempt them back.

Rangers are not named because they fight at range. It’s because they “range”. The verb.

Range: verb (used without object), ranged, ranging.

A good way to think of it is Aragorn from Lord of the Rings was a ranger.

Item: Eternal Sands

There are severe problems with how this item sheathes. In its regular sheathed position, it clips quite noticeably into my characters rear, as seen here: http://i.imgur.com/njksvcv.jpg

However, things get much worse after you have drawn your weapons and then put them away again. Suddenly the focus has a completely different sheathed position that clips much worse, with half the item ending up inside your character model, see here: http://i.imgur.com/zpKEHlf.jpg

Unequipping and reequipping the item or zoning will reset it back to it’s normal sheathed position but nothing else I have tried does.

The skirt section of the magitech leggings clip through the characters hips for human females in a variety of poses/animations including the basic idle animations.

I believe this occurs with all body types.

If you can see your reflection in it, it’s far more likely to be crystals than mystic coins.

So:

Vials of Powerful Blood
Eldritch Scroll
???

And for the record, I give this about 95% probability of being mad memoires complete edition. Whatever the last item is, it has some sort of cultural significance and has a pretty good chance of coming from lions arch (which lines up even more with being mad memoires).

I don’t have the skill points to buy an eldritch scroll to check right now, but if anyone wants to check if those 3 items go together… no known recipe uses all three.

Try not to get into super literal half life 3-esque translations people (High spirits, Alcohol Confirmed!). Stick with what makes sense within the story.

But it seems straight up dishonest for people to act like it’s some kind of community-wide issue.

You are very reasonable, that’s pretty clear; but surely you can see how EotM has impacted the WvW experience as a whole? Granted, to a large degree, WvW Players have their own community within the game, some avoid PvE as much as possible.

Seems to me like it has impacted by moving the people wvw community isnt interested in having around out of the main wvw maps. There’s a reason that all eotm does is give you a supply drop if you win it. It’s just supposed to be a place to mess around in while waiting to get into regular wvw maps and have some fun.

Hi, I encountered some serious loss of fps in gw2 over the past week. I restored my nvidia graphics drivers from the latest (337.88) to the previous (335.23) and it has seemed to help. I also did try the beta drivers (340.43) but they seemed much the same as the current one.

I am using a gtx 560 and running win 8.1. I know a lot of people are reporting performance increases with the latest nvidia drivers but my experience has been the complete opposite. Do not know if it is card related or what.

I have one legendary and definitely think people with duplicates should be compensated somehow. Legendaries are such a huge investment, having it made pointless must be so frustrating.

That was the goal. To the extent that some still feel excluded, we did not perfectly reach it. We will continue to learn and iterate.

I think it mainly comes down to how people are thrown in the deep end from the word go. I died the first time I went up to the third boss despite being told to “look out for bombs” because there were a bunch of red circles right as I got on (from the marionette, I believe) that I thought were the bombs. So I was just on the look out for those and got kind of destroyed by the actual bombs.

I’ve been on there a couple of times since and don’t really have any problems but that first time I died, my platform was the only one that failed. I’m obviously a bit biased but I don’t even think I am particularly awful, but people have no way to prepare for it without having a good chance of compromising their entire servers attempt at the boss.

If you had some better way of preparing them for that I think it would be good. Either a short immunity during which they can try learn the bosses skills, maybe a weaker mob that can be fought elsewhere (living story instance) that uses the same spells so you can learn there or something? I’m not too sure, I guess you don’t want to take away from the individuality of the fight.

On the topic of making ascended gear a little more accessible, do you think there are certain exotics that deserve to be ascended? Super expensive pieces like Mjolnir or Infinite Light come to mind.

This is the first time I’ve actually been angry about a decision in this game. This is completely ridiculous, why can any race use human cultural armour with bonus particle effects at HALF THE PRICE? What about everyone who paid 200 gems of crystals and 120g for their set instead of just trading 65g for it?

A significant amount of players (myself included) make their character a certain race BECAUSE of the cultural armour. This is an absolute travesty and honestly I do feel something needs to be done about it.

I think this trait needs better wording. I hope you all understand why that trait would be wildly overpowered if it carried over everything particularly all 10% damage bonuses. You could simply slam through all attunements and then get 50% bonus damage. Similarly making other things work with this would requires those traits get lowered in the base case as well. I think this is a fine 15 point minor trait on its own and we can reword it and then discuss the merits of the other traits on their own.

To me, that is a better starting point for discussion than attempting to balance all of these effects with how they might work with a minor trait in Arcana. That would predicate the entire profession around that trait which is not what we want out of our minor traits.

It seems like the easy way to get around this while still keeping the trait interesting and able to maintain major trait attunement-based passives is simply to make it so you can only have your current previous attunements active, not all four at once.

Also, I do not necessarily agree that it would definitely be worthwhile it would be to pick up all of those bonus damage traits and burn through all your attunements at once. It seems to me like something that can definitely be experimented with. Even if you fix flame barrier so it’s not completely abysmal, I’m not sure I can get excited by this talent. Maybe if they were all on the level of soothing mist, I have a hard time believing that would happen though.
