1) +25 condition damage
2) 3% of condition damage is converted into healing power. Uses modified values (might, runes, etc are applied before this effect)
3) +50 condition damage
4) 3% of healing power is converted into vitality. Uses modified values
5) +100 condition damage
6) 3% of vitality is converted into condition damage. Uses modified values

there are way bigger and angrier spiders or a huge amount of them, but riding one is not okay? you can even tame one as a ranger but this is too spoopy? i am extremely disappointed in Anet. Obviously not appealing to arachnophobes (just think about arah), but riding a friendly one isn’t okay for some reason. This is silly. Think of all the steep cliffs with no POIs on top you could have climbed.
On the other hand, i have no idea how a gryffin mount would add to the movement options. Flying wouldn’t be okay according to a bunch of comments on the forum.

Scourge can steal stability, i geuss. You can use corrosive poison cloud against engis or warriors. Well of darkness, i suppose, but noone but a tank would use that seriously. Altrrnatively you can drop a elite on the downed guy, or drop a sand shade on him. That can kill faster than stomp if you try really hard.
There are no other options, sadly.

Dessicate has a 16 second cooldown when traited.
Sadistic searing is not a reason to pick more punishments? why not? it makes puni good enough to be some of the best dps skills if you want it, why wouldn’t that be worth it? the dhuumfire tick on 15-20 enemies you get from its 10% lifeforce and the burning from searing plus the low cooldown does make it worth slotting, and do remember you’ll hit 20 enemies with the dhuumfire tick, which is why i dont slot bip and epi at the same time for multi target dps.
Dessi does slightly less damage than cpc (normally our 2nd best condi dps skill), but you have those 4 (or 3.5) seconds to make up for that. It is one of our best damage skills if you know how to play scourge now.

Serpent siphon is a flawed support skill. Don’t consider it if you’re not trying to support.

Kam, i made it clear which utilities you should use for multiple targets and which for a single target. Read the giant wall of text before saying “no n o u should always slot epi for condi dps”, please.

DE is ranged. This fact alone reduces the need for it to be objectively better than DD. DD can be killed with great timing and dmg mitigation or a wall skill and burst damage during the milisecond of vulnerability. Or a kittenton of pulsing AoE when they get close. DD needs this much evade to not just die instantly.
Pulm impact is worthless against good eyeballs or projectile hate.
DH on the other hand, >:(

dessicate will give you 10% lf for one dhumbfire and give you the one extra burn when traited. In the end it will do, factoring in all the traits (including that single dhuumfire), but not might, slightly (~300)less damage than CPC, but with a 4 sec lower cd, so you can very easily make up for the lost damage. Not the projectile destruct, though. It can’t do that, but i doubt you need that more than all the benefits of refilling your shroud bar a little bit out of combat for most situations.
Trail of anguish outdamages cpc.
So ideally for single target dmg you’d go signet of vampirism or sand flare depending on the amount of allies (if you’re not alone vampi will do more dmg) dessicate, bip, trail.
your offhands for single target are ideally torch and dagger, but warhorn remains an option to f2 your traited bip into vigor and might and dhuumfire the enemy. Also, after that f2 you’re less than 1k lf away from the second dhuumfire, at which point you will have done enough dmg to compete with dagger. It’s really a matter of whether you need the extra might from converting your self torment, because depending on how many condis you already did it can be better dmg than offhand dagger. The choice here will have to be made by you for yourself based on your stats and whether you need a cc or weakness&corrupt, and whether you have allies. Or just preference.
Multi target would be sand flare, dessicate, epi, trail.
Ideally warhorn for obvious reasons and torch.
Sadistic searing is what makes me take dessicate over BiP here.
I didn’t calculate anything related to mainhands, only compared a lot of trait dmg and weapon dmg with the wiki’s values.
Against any number, plaguelands will be the best elite.

So, in the end, mixing punishment and corruption makes one have a good time.

Also, serpent siphon seems to be intended for wvw? but the barrier isn’t truly aoe so it’s heavily underpowered there. Without the requirement to actually hit targets for the snakes to become barrier, it would be a viable support skill, especially with very few allies. But this is just ???…

Warhorn can hit 5 enemies at the same time for more lf regen and thus lots of shade damage. Corruptions? Only BiP is better dps-wise than just using traited punishments. (trail of anguish and dessicate do pretty good damage if you trait for punishments and use your shade skills)
I only see offhand dagger being being best in a 1v1 with a miniboss who has no minions. Warhorn will be better for utility and damage when fighting multiple enemies.
I’m not sure whether terror will do more damage than MoC with only BiP though.
When not factoring in corruptions, warhorn will outdps offhand dagger due to dumbfire.

Please explain how offhand dagger is important for PvE.
I don’t really understand.
It’s outdps’d by warhorn if you’re fighting multiple enemies now, and our f2 is enough condi clear. Dying is no issue in PvE since enemies die 1000x faster than you do.
I think the nec community has just grown too attached to it or something. It’s really not necessary with scourge.

i’d go scepter/torch dagger/warhorn, so i can at least stop people or scare them off if they’re too close with torch 4/5.
and dagger already has immob to do that. Offhand dagger isnt needed for scourge due to f2 for condi removal and lifeforce doing more dmg due to all the burns and torment your sand shades apply. I’ve considered taking focus instead of warhorn but i’d be worse in group fights, and focus usually doesnt hit due to some dodge or block- plus, the corruptions we do does more dmg total than spinal shivers.

I can see F1 being nerfed to stun the shade on summon/give it a kind of startup or something, so people can react to it (unlike mesmer bursts(necro shall be weaker than all classes as rule #928 of Arenanet states)) and avoid the huge burns, instead of taking away all of our damage in favor of fake heals as ‘support’.
Ofc though, as the elder dragons, anet devs, and six have decided together that necro shall never be good, we’re prob gonna end up doing no damage at all instead of getting a reasonable nerf.
Every other class can be tanky and do damage at the same time or even get invulnerability and blocks along with great unique buffs support, so there is no reason to completely remove scourge’s damage, which is the only thing going for it rn besides F2.

CC, immobs and lots of cover condis combined with high dmg is a death sentence towards scourges because most don’t slot huge condi clear utils thanks to F2.

Edited my build: Smoldering and misery sigils on both weapon sets, berserker runes, SR first trait vulnerability thing, dagger&warhorn for LF to spam F2-5 instead of staff.
Curses parasitic contagion switched to lingering curses.
None shall survive.
I’m not sure how i can up the dmg any more besides switching out the stunbreak for BiP which would make this unusable in pvp. (no stunbreak and no stab is suicide)

If anet made F1 have a sort of summoning sickness after being summoned (Stun the shades), it would be easier to move out of so you dont die in 3 seconds from the burning, so we don’t have to have our fun new dmg taken away from us. If they do end up removing it, they have to remove the entire mesmer class for the same reason because >:( necsalt let nec b meta-ophax for once

I go viper, nightmare runes, scept/torch (smolder/agony) staff (energy/annulment) and curses 1-3-2 sr 2-2-3 scourge 2-2-2. Sand flare, Dessicate, Spectral Wall, Trail of anguish, Ghastly Breach; this is for pvp/damage in general and relies on fears and its own burns to stay alive.
Serpent siphon looks like some kind of joke to me. Can someone explain who would pick serpent siphon?

i tried using a fear based build and it’s amazing really. The instant burns from pressing F1 F4 F5 in one instant and the terror + terrifying descent adds up to a mesmer tier burst usually. F3 and a stunbreak saves you from burst, F2 means you dont need a condi clear. It’s great fun, but def not as supporty as i expected. But i am in the ffa arena so dobt take my word on that.
Now watch anet nerf us back to HoT.

imo as long as you don’t find a spiral staircase like draconis mons incredibly hard to navigate for some reason, navigation around the new map should be ultra ez.
If you cannot wrap your mind around the spiral staircase, even then the new map(s) are easy to navigate, since they’re one flat huge place, just like the starter zones or any other zone really. The mobs, i can’t really tell how strong they are but if you just stay out of range and use cripples or swiftness and blindness you should have a good time against anything.

Being nearly unkillable in pvp with my tank/well build is pretty fun. And due to the recent changes, most of the time you’ll get some amount of support in your build for free.
No escape? No need! If anyone’s running away, it’s the enemy. Standing in 3 life-draining AoEs and having a sword inside you is bad, after all. Plus we get lich form. If your build is power oriented at all, and you need to kill multiple people or are at low health, you can pretty much turn into a miniboss and deal massive damage while lifestealing(the new vitality leech thing) and spawning minions.

All these silly assumptions about making scourge the only boon corrupt spec or turning necro into condi only- no. Just rethink your build. You have new stuff to play with, too. Some of these changes like making signets of suffering much more support-y and required for keeping shroud up better don’t make sense though.
For now, just adapt. Every other thread is already telling Anet about how much “we”(not me anyway) dislike how “our” builds were all broken due to some trait changes.
Plus, vital persistence is only required if you’ve been using it your entire life and have grown way too attached too it. Most people can get in shroud, do what they want to do with shroud, and get back out when they need to. Dhuumfire and the like aren’t gone, and spectral armor & walk still keep you up- spectral grasp even gives you 100% shroud back if traited(not sure about this, i didn’t test it but it would make sense since the tooltip doesnt say that every one of the five gives you 4% lf)

Especially with unholy sanctuary; at low health i often try to hit F1 but get hit a split second after my dodge and before my shroud, so i end up killing myself by disabling. Shroud flashing builds don’t seem to exist much anymore, so this should definitely change.

was fighting a ele the other day, he literally doesn’t drop below 100% health. I’m using condis as a necro. I can get in a lucky melee hit and he takes some dmg, and apply about 5 condis, but then he cleanses them all before they tick once, and he’s back at 100% health. But. He can still stunlock me and press 2 buttons to deal 20k dmg. This is absolutely horrible balancing. What the kitten is anet thinking?? NO class should be immune to an entire damage type. I don’t care that he has to use all his sigil slots and and about 2 traits to do that, it’s just not fair to not be able to deal ANY DAMAGE AT ALL while he can still kill me in three seconds.
I’m quitting this game until this bullkitten is fixed. Being immune to half the world’s damage and still being able to kill everyone who plays the game is just dumb.

It doesn’t affect you directly. It increases your crit chance when hitting a target based on the vuln on that target; it does NOT change your crit chance at any other point than the hit.

Harpoon guns on land is far better. I mean, you’re usually on a boat when you use it. And spears and tridents obviously make no sense. People using spears on land is 1000% fiction.

Anyways, spear and trident on land would mean more BL skins, complaints about not having a chak trident or something, and they would be confusing due to looking so much like a staff. Also they’d need to move weapon skills, making balancing and coding xtra hard. Anet most likely has some stuff with a much higher priority than that on their to-do list.
Maybe when we fight Bubbles, we’ll get more water to show off the legendary underwater weapons noone has.

Ignore the walls and particle effects, just spam F to throw shards at caudecus. The circles are bright orange. If you can’t see them you are at fault and should adjust your screen’s brightness. No height is high enough to make the place hard to see.
i repeat: It isn’t sightseeing, it’s a fight. Don’t look at the walls or explosions or whatever. Just avoid the suns on the ground and spam F.
Bind and react on time with the sp. action key. This can maybe take some getting used to, but i wouldn’t know because i didn’t die against caudecus.

condi and power need just as much sacrifice to get their dps.
Expertise, condi dmg, precision
vs
Power, ferocity, precision.
Condi has more counterplay and doesnt immediately max out their dps at the start of a fight.
Can’t cleanse all the power dmg someone does, but you can cleanse condi dmg after already being hit by it. Furthermore no matter if you’re running power or condi, you still get to use weakness, vuln, cripple etc so there’s no argument there either.
too many condi complaint threads where noone realizes all this.
