Up to 4 times since this post now. I even tried command line arguments to change the clienport :
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments#-clientport_80
Nothing I can do. I know 100% I am not the only one affected by this. Can I get confirmation by ArenaNET that they are aware of the server issues and looking into it?
I’m on the NA server. In the last few days I keep getting randomly disconnected (it’s happened like 6 or 7 times) with error messages telling me I have network issues…
I have no issues with any other game or website. It’s only been the last few days. The only other times I’ve had issues with this game such as this was when the servers were in fact crapping out (DDOS attacks a couple of years back).
Am I the only one who keeps having issues the last few days?
*edit :

Another crash so I checked. Server issues are on ArenaNET’s side. People ingame have confirmed that this is happening to them too.

I don’t want to pug raids, especially with how there is no LFG dedicated to raids AND the LFG is 5 man, not 10 man.
I also don’t have 10 friends that play GW2.
Hence, I will not do raids for the foreseeable future, probably ever. Maybe if they fix their raid-lfg crap I will attempt it…
It’s really bad, 0 groups on all dungeons most of the times I’m on.
I need 500 arah tokens for a legendary and it’s been a pain in the kitten to get them. I’m not the greatest so soloing would take me hours, I managed to get groups for p1 a couple times this week otherwise I just bought paths because I couldn’t find a group to do the dungeon (kind of sad to buy when you can beat it but oh well…)
Non-daily fractals are pretty bad too. I’ve had some LFGs up for 20-30 minutes before a single person joined.
*EDIT : And yeah, completely agreed that the quality of players in dungeons has gone down south. It’s night and day compared to before.
I was doing odd lowbie fractals today for the achievements… I had to solo pretty much every fractal as people only joined my LFGs when I was pretty much done the fractal.
Later, I waited 20 minutes for anyone to join for dredge but it was a no go, so I just couldn’t complete it since you can’t solo it.
Yep, great system!
No one else finds this atrocious? I was really hoping to get a dev response that they would look into it. This collection requires a map to fail 2 consecutive events to even attempt!
Am I understanding this wrong :
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Moot_I:_The_Experimental_Mace
You need to get the Giant Shark Tooth :
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Giant_Shark_Tooth
Which drops from this guy :
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Giant_Shark
Which only spawns with this event :
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kill_the_giant_shark_in_Sipedon_Deeps
Which only happens when this event fails :
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Prevent_krait_from_kidnapping_Okarinoo_quaggans
As otherwise you cannot fail another event :
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rescue_the_kidnapped_quaggans_before_they_reach_Sipedon_Deeps
Which is required to spawn the shark.
Come on… this is so annoying. This is as bad as the Kraitkin 1 collection requiring you to kill the Dune Soarer (a very rare spawn in Dry Top) and HOPE 1 collection requiring you to kill 1 specific Veteran Mosquito that spawns rarely.
I’ve done every tier 1 collection (except missing a few small things like this) and most of them are pretty fun but this is just boring. I just spent 30 minutes waiting here, asking in map chat for people to let the event fail. Obviously some people chose not to so I’m stuck waiting until next time, watching other people once again do the event as I helplessly wait.

“waaaaaah we have to full glass and actually try to survive instead of slowly wittling down bosses over the course of 30min waaaah”
This is an action based MMO, enforcing mostly full glass specs is the right thing to do in PvE, ANet knows that.
I don’t understand what people don’t understand here.
The fact that you require DPS gear to kill the boss makes it HARDER not EASIER. Isn’t the complaint about zerker that it trivializes a lot of older content (dungeons) because you can kill everything extremely fast without caring much about their mechanics? Well, you can’t do that here, so why is everyone up in arms?
This is good game design for, like you said, an action MMORPG.
You know, the worst part is that I don’t even do dungeons anymore but this is just such a pathetic slap in the face to players that enjoy dungeons that it just bothers me.
If anything, these changes probably fit my current playstyle more but… really? Why would you want to remove you one of the main appeal of your game for thousands of players?! It makes no sense, none whatsoever. They spent a lot of time making these dungeons even if they stopped supporting them a long time ago. Fractals can’t replace the sheer amount of hours a person can sink into dungeons, and raids are going to be weekly either way so no go there either.
They literally want everyone playing open world zones. That’s what we’re supposed to do apparently. Not challenging or interesting content, just open world press 1 and get rich. Either that or everyone needs to become WvW or PvP players.
I mean, I’m going to do the open world stuff. I did everything on all of my characters (story, LS2, mapping, etc) and I will do the same in HoT. Why did you need to throw dungeons in the basement just to incite me to do what I would’ve done either way?
I think I’m just going to start playing the TP after I’m done the achievements/exploration/etc…
I sure am glad they are adding all those new fractals now that they have clearly stated they don’t want us to play dungeons at all.
Oh what’s that? They aren’t adding any new fractals? And they are adding a system where it would be difficult for them to add new fractals at all since now every tier from 1-100 has a specific fractal, leaving no room for new ones in there?
Wow, it looks like ArenaNET is bending their playerbase over again with some uneeded changes… yipee.
Hype for HoT yesterday : 9/10
Hype for HoT today : 0/10
DPS is part of the game, just accept it. It’s the same in ANY MMO : max DPS with what will allow you to survive. If you can’t beat the boss fast enough and the enrage timer kills you because you are using defensive gear and don’t deal enough damage, then switch to more offensive gear. Clearly better players are able to survive without the defensive gear and raids are supposed to be challenging… not everyone will succeed, especially if they want their hand held. Using offensive gear (berserker, sinister), ADDS to the challenge. Contrary to what a lot of people imply, using berserker gear doesn’t mean you aren’t making use of your class mechanics and it also doesn’t mean you aren’t using support skills and traits.
One of the main complaints people used to make about berserker gear was that it allowed players to destroy bosses before their mechanics even kicked in. Well, clearly that isn’t the case here. Instead, it allows you to complete the boss. As an added bonus, you’re a glass cannon so everything is more tense and difficult. It’s an added challenge in this context instead of removing all challenge through sheer power.
The irrational hatred of everything DPS so many people have in this community is really annoying.
The enrage timer is NOT just a dps check. You cannot and will not succeed the fight if you just DPS a boss and don’t do anything else. You need to survive and make use of the fight mechanics.
You want to see what a pointless DPS check is? The old Simin (Dwayna in Arah p4) was a pointless DPS check. The boss couldn’t kill you, but if you didn’t do enough DPS you were screwed, even if you understood the mechanic. It wasn’t challenging, you could stand there for hours fighting her and eventually get lucky.
Trust me, I know. I made the thread that got Simin hit with the nerf bat back when I was a mediocre player and couldn’t beat her after multiple PUG attempts (didn’t have a guild back then) even in full zerker gear. I’m still happy about it though because it was a POINTLESS dps check in a game mode (dungeons) that offered no other similar DPS checks. It was completely out of place for the game at the time and was NOT fun in any way, shape or form. So ArenaNET made it pretty simple and once you understood the mechanic you were now able to beat her relatively easily.
Raids are a different beast though. You aren’t expected to be on the same level to complete a raid vs a dungeon.
An enrage timer is the game telling you : hey, if you want to beat this boss, not only do you need to understand the mechanics, you need to be skillful enough to do it quickly or we will wipe your party.
Part of that is the added challenge of being a glass cannon and doing enough damage. An enrage form like you propose would be incredibly boring : have 10 people in clerics/sentinel gear and just take 2 hours to kill everything, but be essentially invulnerable even when boss reaches “max enrage”.
It is entirely expected of this game mode that you need to beat an enrage timer. It’s an endgame challenge where you are expected to be a good player, geared properly, patient, have good teamwork, etc. Every boss in raids will probably have an enrage timer, it’s part of the challenge of raids.
Like others have pointed out, the timer is somewhat lenient and groups beat the encounter without perfectly optimized strategies. This is good as it means the raid is somewhat accessible. You’ll still need to be a decent player to beat it very likely, but it won’t be just SC caliber players beating it is what I mean.
Hmm my main goal this weekend is watching people stream the raids and/or videos of successful raids… I don’t have a group for it so I want to see as much of them as possible.
Don’t want to get spoiled? Don’t watch it. Most people just avoid things they don’t want to get spoiled on…. not difficult. When I miss a sports event that I had to tape for example, I just don’t go on places that discuss sports that could spoil the result for me.
I went sinister engi myself for 2 reasons :
1) They mentioned higher level fractals would start scaling toughness and not just health/damage. This could be a huge swing in the favor of condi, and fractals is my favorite content.
2) My 7 other characters all use berserker/assassin gear (and likely Revenant will be berserker as well but time will tell).
Honestly I would probably prefer power engi in terms of playstyle but I like having a least 1 geared condi character, may as well make it engi.
These runs have been a lot of fun to watch.
I hope either of you two do p2 or p3 in the future too. It’s not to see paths that aren’t arah p2 once in a while!
Someone cross posted the video to reddit and the comments are eh.

Some of those comments getting upvoted oh god why… even one of the sub’s moderators is a hardcore PHIWer, guess I shouldn’t be surprised.
That’s what I get for going on forums, feels like I just got slapped in the face with pure stupdity.
Comparisons are valid when they’re valid. They aren’t when they aren’t. You can’t compare WoW to anything that isn’t WoW, and you can’t compare FF14 to anything that isn’t based on a popular license. If FF14 is not crushing GW2 then that means GW2 is far and away better on its own merits. Wildstar is a valid comparison because it’s a unique IP MMO that has very similar gameplay to GW2’s, and yet focused on hardcore raiders, got all of them they could possibly expect, and it turns out that still wasn’t enough to keep a game running.
What? Is WoW is some sort of divine game that no mere mortal can create a product that can compete with? I have an active WoW sub and my entire guild only logs in to raid, myself included. Furthermore, the current expansion was terrible, there won’t be any more content until the next expansion which is due for mid 2016, and the game is bleeding subs at an alarming rate.
If Arenanet wants to charm the disappointed WoW players with raid content, there hasn’t been a better time to do so, and I’m pretty happy to see them try it because I think GW2 has been better than WoW in everything except group PvE.
In fact I think the picture would have been quite different if the game had compelling PvE content on day one.
While some former WoW players will surely appreciate raiding, it should be noted that there are plenty of WoW players that despise raids. These are the players who had the worst time in WoD, because in that expansion raids were the only relevant content, except maybe garrisons, which were just a boring facebook game.
Anet has done a good job catering to players of all game modes so far, while maintaining some rewards that are unique for each game mode. Hopefully, raids will be just one of the many supported game modes, instead of the focus like in the current iteration of WoW.
- 4 new triple tiered open world areas with event chains similar to Silverwastes/Dry Top
- Masteries and Adventures
- Tons of new collections
- New PvP map/mode
- New WvW Borderlands
- Changes to fractals to make them shorter and more accessible
- Raids
There is no need to worry. ArenaNET is hellbent on making sure everyone gets a piece of the pie. Hell, as someone who primarily enjoys dungeons/fractals it’s been a struggle since release with barely any new content targeting those areas of the game, but at the end of the day I understand that they are trying to make a complete game and not a one dimensional game so I suffered through it (and I still enjoy pvp, open world, etc so it’s not like it was too hard).
Like others have said, this isn’t like raids in other MMOs because you DON’T GET BETTER GEAR!
Don’t get me wrong, I know that Anet are doing a good job so far. My only worry is that there are only 2 open world PvE armor sets and that no PvP armor has been announced so far. But I guess that it may be that way because this expansion is the “systems change” expansion.
I’m not going to post data-mined stuff here but several new armor sets have been data-mined since January and I’m 90% sure a least 1 of them is a PvP set (well, 1×3 armor types) as ladder reward, as it looks like a PvP armor.
I don’t expect hundreds of new sets, I’ll agree with that. But we won’t be getting just 1 or 2 sets as far as I know.

lol I remember why I stay away from this forum usually…
People will complain about anything. You can change stats on ascended gear easily already btw. Legendary weapons already have the options to swap stats as well. Raids won’t suddenly mean the rest of the game stops existing. There has always been a hardcore community in GW2, several in fact : WvWers, PvPers, Dungeon/Fractal runners, Teq/Wurm runners and AP hunters are all people that put in TONS of hours into this game, and have since release.
Just because you are satisfied running around Queensdale for 12 hours a day killing regular mobs that do 0 damage, doesn’t mean the rest of us are. This game is good because it has aspects that EVERYONE want.
You guys are the ones trying to be exclusive by removing everything you don’t want in this game. The devs, on the other hand, are giving a little bit to everyone and doing their best to please as many crowds as they can.
GW2 has always had grind if you wanted to do it before, and that is not changing. You can still play as casually as you want.
Exclusive skins for certain game modes/challenges are not an issue.
Finally, “toxic raider culture”? REALLY?! I have no words for that one besides laughing… and I’m not even a huge raid runner (in GW1 I ran the elite areas a few times for completion’s sake but I didn’t farm them like a lot of other people did; I still appreciated them because I know they were an integral part of the game for many people).
What’s clear in this thread is that there are many people that play Guild Wars 2 one hour a week, that know nothing about this game and the multiple communities dedicated to the different activities to do in the game, and think everyone else does nothing but Silverwastes all day like they do.
Reality check, this game has a LOT of different people playing in many different ways and the only ones complaining that raids get legendary armor are those that don’t take part in any of the communities this game has to offer and just wander around aimlessly in the open world and expect to get everything handed to them on a silver platter.
Games that give you everything for no effort have no lifespan. GW2 succeeds at making people want to keep chasing skins, titles, achievements and victory in many different game modes at once. If they took that away, they would be left with a lifeless game.
I’ve wanted to get the heavy wurm armor + teq weapons for my warrior since they came out. Unfortunately I hate doing teq + wurm and once I got all the achievements I haven’t touched them again. I didn’t get the skins obviously.
Is that a problem? No, they are there to show that some people obviously like that content a lot more than others and did it tons of times to eventually get those sets. This is the same.
You say titles should represent that? I got the teq/wurm achievs… it took me 1 day. That doesn’t mean I run them all the time. If I see someone with teq + wurm gear though I assume they put in tons of effort.
You’re just kittened off because they are calling it legendary armor, but at the end of the day the only plus is that you can change stats (which is easy to do on ascended armor as well).
Dungeons have exclusive skins. Fractals have exclusive skins. PvP has exclusive skins (I also want the Glorious Heroes’ skins, but I suck as PvP so I’m stuck with the regular Glorious ones, which are also pvp-exclusive! Tough kitten though, it’s there to show that some people are a step above in terms of PvP, and again titles wouldn’t mean kitten to show that!).
Stop whining that you can’t get everything in the game without doing everything in the game. There are thousands of skins you can chase besides this one, that you haven’t even seen yet.
Fractal/Dungeons is my favorite content in the game. I’ve finished dungeoneer and lost the appeal of dungeons (my dungeon goal was to unlock every skin even before they introduced the collections either way) so fractals is what I’ve got left.
Unfortunately, I’ve been busy for the past year working a full-time job that leaves me too drained to run fractals during the week so at most I’ve been running 1-2 fractals a week and only during the weekend. It’s sad because I WANT to run them every day but it’s too much of a commitment for me. The result is I’ve barely been playing GW2… just getting my daily chest, sometimes doing my dailies and daily crafting for free gold.
This change is the best possible option for me. I get to do fractals relatively quickly now. There are probably going to be some scales that are soloable in relatively quick time (I play at like 5am eastern time and no one is on at that time, so I can still get my daily fractal in by myself now, hopefully).
I also like watching record runs and we will now undoubtly have record tables for every scale since it will all be pre-determined. This is awesome IMO and I’m sure we will be in for some great speedruns in the future.
Finally, we are getting a raid and that will take over for the more serious, long content similar to elite areas in GW1… I assume anyway.
Everything about these changes are awesome for me. I used to play a ton of hours every day and I know where you’re coming from but at the end of the day we will also have a lot of new options for content with HoT besides just fractals.
I haven’t done a dungeon since I got dungeoneer… hell I need to get 5 runes of the nightmare from TA for engi and I’m dreading it.
You can only run so many dungeons before it makes you want to shoot yourself.
Same issue the past couple of days, 5-10 FPS standing in town… I put it to minimum graphics and getting 20 FPS now.
Just crafting daily mats was a chore, felt like the game was going to crash any second.
*EDIT : I managed to fix my issues, it was on my end this go around (mobo issues).
(edited by Kurr.4179)
Why are people evaluating revenants without the Shiro legend and power scaling weapons?
The weapons they currently have available are the equivalent of the guardian mace, staff, and the typical ranged weapon which is bad in PvE.
Don’t condemn a class when you haven’t even seen the power based options.
What, you mean people shouldn’t be throwing out wild claims that Revenant are useless and terrible when the power/dps legend isn’t even available yet? Are you saying we should wait for a complete set of information, including elite spec, before making decisions about things?
No no no, we should all be throwing hissy fits like little kids. How dare the defensive, healing and condi legends not have meta-level DPS.
This change is disgusting. You already spend more time skipping than actually fighting (except for HotW or low man parties) and now they buff DPS out of the kitten while nerfing mobility to the ground.
Obviously one has to see how it will turn out, but I think dungeons will be really boring with this change.
Not just dungeons, everything is less entertaining with bad mobility. WvW, open world PvE and even for some builds PvP are all affected.
“Hey, let’s make it harder for everyone to move around!”
I wonder who had that great idea…
I’ve got high hopes for Revenant being good as a hybryd character. It seems like it will be in a similar vein to engi with a “do a little bit of everything” type of character.
Only engineer as it stands could potentially be good as a hybrid build.
The condi changes look really intriguing. The leaps are just a bad idea but maybe they had a (good?) reason to implement them.
On topic of mesmer being unable to frontload condis:
You can make 2 duelists + 1 warden or vice versa really quickly, that’s a lot of bleeding right off the bat. Of course that’s just bleeding… With the specializations and HoT i expect new opportunities to be creative.
For the leaps I think it has to do with both the slow debuff and the gliders.
Apparently slow would make you jump like crazy since it’s the opposite of what quickness does to your leap skills.
For the gliders, I’m pretty sure they’re afraid of people mountain-goating to places that they aren’t supposed to be able to get to without a glider.
With that said, it’s still a stupid change IMO.
Condi > Power/Ferocity gear is what we need now. Useful for necro (reaper vuln trait) and probably a few other professions.
I mean, I’ll take this change either way but the lack of gear with that stat-line is pretty apparent when you start thinking about condi in the meta.
There are a few traits out there that give crit chance that could suddenly be useful if you lacked precision.
This change would be awful. Please don’t go through with it ArenaNET.
The movement is one of the best part of this game. That’s not me just going nuts, the movement is so fluid in this game. Cripple and/or swiftness affecting your movement skills is part of that.
I can’t even imagine swiftness not affecting my movement skills. It would really negatively affect one of my favorite thing about this game.
100 gold into cond duration runes…
The best two are dungeon runes and therefore account bound, however.
I have 2 sets of Aristocracy runes in my bank… just in case Condis ever not suck anymore.
Oh and I have a set of Perplexity runes too, but I use that to make people hate me in WvW.
Speedruns usually aim to break the game, not restrict themselves.
EX : Ocarina of Time Any% WR is under 18 minutes now.
http://www.speedrun.com/run/41540In that Ocarina of time WR, the game recognises itself as completed. In this case after you kill Belka no cutscene or reward triggers and the path is not completed. Infact, selecting a path is entirely irrelevant and you can do this without picking a path.
I did say “reward chest given”… so, no a run without the reward chest (“aka ending triggers”) doesn’t count.
For me, unrestricted should just be “start timer when the first person moves in the dungeon” -> “end timer when final boss killed/reward chest given.”
This is more in line with regular speedruns (IE not Guild Wars 2) where the mindset is anything goes as long as you beat it asap.
All consumables and tricks should be allowed. Even gemstore items and things you can’t acquire anymore.
Having more restrictions than that… well, that’s why restricted exists.

I’m still getting the same error.
I’m so happy that I’m stuck choosing between my necro, ranger and mesmer instead of the characters I actually want to play =/
Same error here, can’t get into LA (either through WP or logging in). Can’t play half my characters because of it…
I don’t care if they are part of the meta.
This looks like necros will finally have an OK dungeon/fractal build (I suspect more useful in fractals since trash mobs are more prevalent). No they aren’t going to have amazing support but it looks playable without being significantly behind the other classes. That means no one should reasonably be kicking necros out of groups immediately in the future.
Looking forward to soloing with a Reaper, looks like it will be pretty good for that. I’m also eager to see if power/fer/condi stats might become useful for the Reaper since they will have crazy crit chance traits anyway… could make for some potent condi/dps hybrids if they can add a few condis on top of good DPS. This could even be good in groups if they really remove the condi cap.
I’m so glad I chose mesmer as my main light armor profession.
This sounds like so much fun.
I used to love mesmer in GW1 but found it a bit boring by comparison in GW2. This will just be so great for me to play. A lot to do and keep track of, can’t wait.
Well, I play all 8 professions (main warrior/thief/mesmer) in all game modes and I’m happy overall.
I wanted elementalist nerfed. It’s a bit harsh from what we see so far, but I don’t think they will suddenly be trash either. I rather this than seeing 2-3 eles in every run.
Necromancers could still use at least 1 useful party utility (like say a party-wide life steal on hit effect for a party DPS boost or something… I know reflects/blasts don’t really fit the character theme). I think GS necro will get such help but we will see.
I am still waiting for the elite specializations though. I think we will see some cool stuff and it will put a lot of these changes in perspective.
I’m excited for the elementalist, mesmer and engineer elite specs assuming they really are sword/shield/hammer respectively.
I’m thinking of adding engineer to my list of “mains” because they look like they will be so much fun in the future. High skill cap too.
Mesmer interrupt + shatter spike will be so much fun I can’t wait.
Honestly I’m excited to play every profession except ranger/guardian/necro and to be honest those are already my least favorite (and the elite specs for ranger/guardian don’t look like they will be my type).
This sounds like a ton of work for a system that would see little to no use besides a small group of people that probably know each other already to hate on their bad pugs, that would never see their rating, ever. So you got a bad pug… he may have played 10 hours of this game while you have 5000… do you think it’s fair to go on a 3rd party website and essentially harass him/bar him from future groups even if he ends up playing a lot and becoming a decent player?
I’m not sure why you would spend your time on this. The hardcore players pretty much all know each other by now, and those that you don’t know probably like their regular guild even if they are skilled players.
I can honestly say whether I had a 0/5 rating or 5/5 rating I would not care… because I would not know.
I don’t know a single person who would join a random pug then look them up on a 3rd party website to see if anyone has ever rated them. Waste of time IMO. I look at their profession and their AP, pick my profession and go or leave the group if I see it’s a waste of time. Taking a couple of minutes to look them up on a website they would be done the first part of the dungeon already anyway (or the whole thing if it’s CM).
I just want it to be opened, there doesn’t even need to be new content.
It’s been so long since we’ve had SAB (september 2013). It was disappointing april 2014 AND september 2014 when they didn’t release SAB again, and it is tenfold as disappointing this time around for multiple reasons.
1) They are fully aware of how much the community wants it back.
2) They added the minis on the gemstore, as some kind of sick joke
3) There has been a lot of downtime recently and there are still a few months at least until HoT comes out, so giving people to ability to play old SAB content would’ve been a great idea.
I don’t know, but honestly since 2013 I’ve been disappointed in a few things ArenaNET have NOT DONE. No new dungeon content, no november fractal update in 2014, no SAB in 1.5 years…
Don’t get me wrong they do a lot of things right, but they either need to step up or COMMUNICATE ADEQUATELY with us. Don’t just say “it’s not off the table”. Tell us : probably not getting SAB or content x in 2015 for example. Then the expectations are set and no one will rage.
Im sympathetic to people who were affected by the plane crash, and i cant imagine how it would feel like to log into a game to find a joke on airplanes after having experienced that tragedy.
I think the least they could have done was made an acknowledgement about the crash or could have postponed teh event.
Altho it is kinda sad seeing that a lot of people are acting as if you should not care. If i were in that similar situation i would definitely care, even if it isnt anet’s fault.
The reason you shouldn’t care is because it literally has nothing to do with the plane crashes (notice I said crashes, because there are more crashes in a year than you seem to realize and just because the German one was disastrous doesn’t mean there aren’t hundreds of them a year). The sepia filter, the airplane noises… it’s obviously meant to be a joke on old kids who run around like this for fun.
Do you get offended that people are still using airplanes today, despite the crash in Germany? Clearly they are offensive to you right? I mean, they’re in an airplane, clearly it’s in bad taste.
Seriously, plane crashes happen. There were a few big ones last year too… kitten happens. RIP to those who died, it’s unrelated to an april’s fools in a video game.
Im not offended by it because im not german….If i were in that area or i knew someone on the plane i would obviously be offended. Im not sure 100% whether i agree they shouldnt have released it but i can see where the OP is coming from. Imagine if a plane had crashed in your state and then a week later you log on and see eveyrone in a video game smiling and making airplane noises…….
There was a plane crash in Halifax a few days ago.

I am not offended.

I don’t care what they do, they just need to fix it already. The kitten place is so dreary it saps the joy out of playing to go into that place.
This would’ve been fixed faster in real life! 0 progress since April/May when we did events to fundraiser LA’s rebuild… that never happened.
They design these well in advance. They couldn’t have known 6 months ago that there would’ve been a plane crash recently.
And honestly there are plane crashes all the time. This one just hit closer to home for you because it was disastrous.
Would you get mad at them if they made your character a car for a day? There are car crashes every day.
My FPS seems back to normal today. Not sure what changed since most of you seem to have no change but I’ll take it.
Still pretty much unplayble here… even got randomly kicked during a pvp match (that I was doing with no UI because it’s easier than dealing with the 10 FPS crap.)
I’m a little disheartened by this. Well all know the issue stems from the UI and it’s been 4 days. I hope this is fixed tomorrow so I can play during the weekend at least.
I know a lot of the issues in this patch are to make the HoT release smoother (a lot of changes in the backend I’m guessing is why there have been 1000 bugs with this patch) but it’s not very fun to be the tester.
Still not a single red post 3 days later… at least acknowledge that you are aware of and working on fixing the issue.
I can barely play. Just doing my daily crafting was painful today.
It’s a viable strategy and definitely easier to carry pugs with in fractal 50s than using a regular meta build.
I used to run with some guardian that played like this (and his wife used a celestial/soldier ele build I believe) and the runs always went smoothly because the guardian pretty much can’t die and you just stand behind enemies using perfect rotations.
I saw both of those people in town recently and they’re in DnT now (pretty funny because I remember them mocking the pve zerker meta but whatever) so it’s not like only terrible players wear this gear. It’s just an easy “nothing can go wrong” tactic and it’s perfectly viable even for a quick run. Just don’t expect to beat records is all.
Honestly I’m half considering getting a second set for my guardian for this, to bring into a fractal 50 for when I can’t find a proper group. It sucks playing thief in fractals when you get a less than desirable groups (or just if I’m having a bad day and/or lagging, would be nice to put on easy mode).
Like others have said, these type of things will probably be even more useful with HoT with stability bars.
I know some people will call me a newbie for that but honestly you’re not always going to be able to find an optimal guild group to run with and carrying is a big part of pugging.
Boy, I sure am happy that something I put in thousands of hours in over several years is freely awarded to people who don’t even know what GWAMM is or what it means to have it for veterans of GW1.
Don’t get me wrong I know GWAMM doesn’t make me special but it’s frustrating to see everyone get it handed like candy.
Reminds me of the changes to Legendary Survivor in GW1. I originally got it when Factions (and the title) came out, no easy mode. I capped pretty much every elite skill in Factions, did all the missions and quests, etc. Then Kilroy came out and everyone and their mother got the title with no challenge. Then it was changed to be even easier : exp from last death and not exp from character creation, making it even that much easier…
Again, I know thousands of people have it and I’m not special, but it’s frustrating to have another title I earned be watered down. to : “player logged in! achievement earned!”
AMD video card here, same thing. Lost about half my FPS.
Completely unplayable, couldn’t even do 1 spvp match.
What a patch… with this and people getting GWAMM for free after I put in years in GW1, I’m raging pretty hard.
So, a few good players can coordinate to be effective or a zerg just has an overwhelming amount of CC is what they are saying… not that it’s 5 man content.
i didnt say they mean 5 man content.
As for the raid content designer, if one of their devs left they just replaced him is all.
they didnt have a raid content designer before.
Since GW2 works slightly uniquely compared to other MMOs they hired someone with relevant experience to designing big bosses (world bosses vs raid bosses). Vinewrath, Wyvern, etc could all be considered raid content, especially by ArenaNET.
there is no raid content in gw2 at the moment and a guy who simply designs bosses is not a raid content designer.
wait i forgot, wvw, tequatl and wurm is raid content of course….
Finally, if you can’t see why this new defiance system is bad news for current dungeons I’m not sure what to tell you.
i dont care about current dungeons and compared to the people who are stuck with their heads in tyria and believe that this is a bad system overall i have seen basically the same system in a game with content that is by far more difficult and challenging than gw2.
Just have fun not being able to focus pull any boss anywhere because even if you break the starting defiance bar all you’re getting is a generic stun effect…
icebow 5 isnt a generic stun effect?
Everyone on this subforum should be pretty unhappy with this change as usually it’s pretty unanimous that people want more skill-based content. This is largely moving away from that to more easily control zerg CC.
this is not true at all and if you really believe this, then you are not able to imagine whats possible in terms of mechanics and difficulty with the new system.
the fact that your time to interrupt is limited or the fight will become significantly harder alone should make you realize that the new system isnt “easily control zerg cc” in any way.
One way or another, it’s removing skill versatility in PvE for a system that’s easier for ArenaNET to make content for, without pausing to think about the effect of the different type of CCs on their bosses anymore.
it removes some versatility in PvE and adds versatility in a different way, which opens up more options than the current system for future encounters. it only depends on what arenanet will do with this system.
You mentioned 5 man content multiple times in this thread. Yes Teq/Wurm is considered raid content by ArenaNET. You don’t know that they didn’t have a “raid designer” before, it’s just a title they used to hire someone.
Icebow 5 sucks and I didn’t say the opposite (I would remove icebow 5 from the game personally); turning all the different CC skills into generic Icebow 5 is much MUCH worse than the current system.
Wildstar sucks and I don’t want that content in GW2.
