got a razer naga too, but honestly have nothing but ptt binded on it. Reason? I personally feel more comfortable having my skills located around my left hand simply because I feel I can react faster with 2-3 fingers than I can with only my thumb (I don’t know about you guys, but I can only press the 12 buttons on the side with my thumb :p), also this may only be me, but I don’t like the slight jitter the camera make when I press a button on the side of the naga.

Had some really great fights today with a necro, and the first couple of fights he would completely demolish me, but after asking him if he could give me some pointers on how to counter his play/build (staff, condi/fear spec) the fights became much more even. I started saving my stun breakers and blocks for when I was up close, changed to ether renewel and constantly moved to be behind him (he told me that was pretty much the most annoying thing for a necro) and the fights started swaying more heavily in my favor. Sadly I didn’t get the first couple of crushing defeats recorded like I wanted to.

I really wanna give that Necro a big shout out for sharing such (imo) vital information with me, because I don’t think many would do that and it completely changed my way of thinking prior to going up against a necro (with that kind of spec)

Wow, that was a long reply, but a lot of good stuff I will definitly take into consideretaion. I really want a few pieces of celestial armor, but considering ascended armor is coming out in ten days time, I didn’t want to use 15-20g average on each recipe.

I’m working on getting ascended daggers, but I’m not a big fan of PvE and jumping from world boss to world boss.

I play on Gandara which is in Silver League, but I honestly don’t think on what tier you play comes much into play in duels, because in EU what tier a server is in depends highly on that servers population and night time coverage.

Why didn’t you include your losses if you want criticisms? That’s my biggest criticism is people not including defeats in their videos, not just you.

Good shout, I guarantee you my next video of my elementalist will include defeats as well, heck might even make a video with only defeats, and hopefully I can get some constructive criticism on where I make mistakes.

Just a few fights out of the many I’ve had since the Arena area in Obsidian Sanctum came out.

Constructive feedback on my play is very much appreciated as I want to become better, and I know I probably mess up quite a lot :p

I use the Nvidia GeForce Experience extension Shadowplay to record. I used to use Dxtory but after changing to Shadowplay I have felt a much less tax on my system while recording, only downside is that you can not split up the audio streams and shadowplay does not record your microphone.

dont have illusionary persona and clones die quickly so never have any up to shatter :P

That error is such a generic windows error; it will be hard to pinpoint. The error basically means “I tried to do something, but couldn’t do it or didn’t have permissions and I am not going to tell you why”.

Please do the following and try the game out.

1) delete your local.dat file
-click start
-type in

%APPDATA%\Guild Wars 2

-delete the file

2) run a repair of the game

Don’t know how I missed that, cheers. Very interesting to see that you run Chaotic Interruption over PU. Again I’m not a mesmer main so maybe this isn’t that odd, but I’ve only seen people playing PU condi or hybrid, or shatter in WvW. Gonna check out your youtube vids also to see this in action.

Unfortunatly I haven’t been recording much lately, so none of the videos on youtube have this spec in them, except for the one where I pull people to their deaths in stonemist, but that is hardly very relative to this threads discussion :p

I play a Mesmer, and I can beat a good d/p thief 50-60% of the time, IF he stays to fight. Now if he runs away, I will take that as a win because I will interpret that as the thief thinking to himself he can’t win the fight if he stays.

Generally I don’t consider making the thief run away a win because he can come back and gank you while you try and take an objective. However I would classify this as a win assuming you are running a ‘good build’ meaning one that can generally roam fine and you haven’t completely kitten it just to beat a D/P thief. Making a thief run away so that you can capture a camp or something is a win in my opinion (which is why I don’t consider just running something tanky a win, the thief is going to just gank you again while you’re capping and you’ll die.)

Mind elaborating on what you run? If you aren’t running traveler runes then I assume it’s some version of the triple stealth perplexity mesmer?

My build is in my signature and no it is not tailored to be anti d/p thief.

Has anyone messed around with Furious Interruption?

I’ve been testing it last night, trying to find the right trait to go into the last dueling slot for Mind Crush. I was set on Phantasmal Fury at first but I noticed this was a rare opportunity to really see what Furious Interrupt (FI) could do.

So far, it’s been surprisingly good. Since my lockdown build is melee-oriented and has 4 reliable dazes and it’s getting easier and easier to plan/time interrupt opportunities, I can predict when FI will proc. When it does? I either charge my mantra, land a full sword auto (3-4k damage), or rezz someone quicker.

At first I couldn’t really see much use for a 3 second quickness, especially with the 15s cooldown (cooldown’s not too bad actually since my dazes range from 10-40 sec CD) but now I see a bit of potential with Mantras, Phantasm summons, Scepter, Sword (both mainhand AND offhand), and Greatsword. Staff doesn’t seem affected much.

I know Warlord had used it before and liked it, does anyone run this trait constantly?

I have been trying out furious interruption in my own 10/30/30 build with staff + sc/focus, and I’ve had surprisingly good results, so far it has helped me recharge mantra, “insta” heal, stomp faster, get off a clutch Mass Invis you name it. I am positively impressed by it, even with a 15 sec ICD.

I think you misinterpreted his post. He was saying this build could be suited for trolling around Stonemist Castle in EBG.

Exactly what I meant, never called OP a troll or anything of the sort. I simply implied this build had a troll-ish nature to it, that could be fun for trolling/annoying people in stonemist castle.

Yeah, going to have to agree with the general sentiment. This build looks like it would be able to annoy me. It wouldn’t kill me. It wouldn’t hold a point. It wouldn’t take a point. If it attempted to actually engage in direct combat, I would crush it.

Honestly, it’s a build designed to do nothing but be annoying, and that’s pretty much nothing.

Gotta admit I’m not a fan of the whole mix and match idea with creating new abilities etc.

I’m personally not much of a roleplayer (used to, pen&paper style) and my mesmers name is about 10~ years old, in the sense that I have been using that name for all of my main characters in games in the last 10~ years, and the same personality etc. has always followed the name.
Shackelberry isn’t the full name either, but kitten ed be character limit on names!

Anyways

Occupation: #1 Mesmer of the CNTK warband
Best physical feature: The finest fro you’ll ever see
Personality: kitteny, honorable yet devious (member of the order of whisperers), highly intelligent (comes with being Asura), feels very little empathy.
Quirks: will always /bow or /salute after a good fight, has a bad habit of constantly jumping around when running or just staying in Lion’s Arch.

So after having fought a couple of 1v1’s today and a single 1v2 (ranger+ele) with a 10/30/30 variant I can say I value the traited pistol, the extra precision and crit damage over confusion on shatter, BUT I simply cannot get myself to use ethereal fields while having pistol traited, yes I may be gimping myself but I don’t believe that it is working as intended and I do not want to depend on that “bug”, besides I’ve come to love Arcane Thievery so much that I hardly ever swap it out for null field or iDisenchanter.

That being said, I appreciate your feedback and I thank you for helping me improve upon my build Blutstein. I also realise our builds are similar but I’d like to think they are still far apart

you will never benefit from both at the same time. Thats simply a fact!

I"d like to help, but there isn’t any build listing or description in the video or in the description for the video. This is all I can tell:

Scepter/Focus, Sword/Torch, possibly perplexity runes. Ether Feast, Decoy, Blink, Arcane Thievery, Mass Invisibility.

It’s not perplexity runes, and the condition damage is too low to be undead. I’m thinking travelers.

Sword/torch: Superior sigil of corruption/superior sigil of doom
Scepter/focus: Superior sigil of corruption/superior sigil of doom

Lots of crits, but they don’t hit super hard, along with pretty much base hp. I’m thinking full rampagers with possibly maintenance oil and rare veggie pizzas. Still not sure about runes though.

Looks really weird to me, cause even with travelers rune in a condition dmg based armor set, torment should hit for around 90~ and bleed around 100~

My own bleed tick for about 110 maybe a little more and torment 107 or something and I have perplexity, but perplexity shouldnt cause such a gap in condition damage.

I might be wrong, and if I am I stand corrected

just realised you wrote rampagers, and if that is the case I can understand the low damage ticks

I see your logic and I understand your logic. I much appreciate you trying out my setup, sorry that you found it trying to do to much.

As matter of fact I have tried some of your suggestions, mainly running with sword CD instead of fury, unfortunately fights have been scarze over the weekend so not done testing. So far I don’t miss fury but I don’t feel the reduced cds make a big difference for me.

When I get home today I will look into testing a 10/30/30 with pistol CD, to see if I miss the 5 points in illusion or if will value the reduced cd higher.
