We’ve gotten some new people because of this post so I’m bumping
Who we are:
Knights of the Chicken Salad [KOCS]
We are a small close-knit group of players with a focus on fractals & raiding, we’re looking for like-minded individuals to join our ranks, though we are not exclusively looking for just Raiders.
Raiders however must be willing to commit to our raiding schedule, we stress being on time and putting forth your best effort. We are serious but sometimes we cluck around.
Our primary Raid team has downed 6/6 Bosses in the Forsaken Thicket. We welcome all who are experienced with their profession, being proficient with multiple is a bonus.
Mumble( VOIP), website and DPS servers are also up and running. Our guild hall is Gilded Hollow and is in the process of being upgraded. All full members are encouraged to donate but are by no means required to. Guild hall decorating is open to all full members.
Our leadership style:
Everyone has a voice within the guild, we believe in an open and inclusive environment, where all individuals are free to do what they wish within reason. Representing is encouraged but not mandatory. Representing however is required for official guild activities like fractals and raiding.
Raid Schedules:
Red Team: Wing: 1 & 2: Saturday & Sunday: 9pm to 12am EST
Blue Team: Wing 1 (for now): Wednesdays: 9pm to 12am EST
Fractals night:
Fridays: 9pm to 12am EST
Raid specific recruitment:
All Raiders applying for a team have to be able to solo Bloomhunger @ level 32 scale.
This is our bare minimum barrier to entry, if you cannot do this, you should probably not be raiding in the 1st place.
Red Team: Currently looking for two more members to join this team on a permanent basis.
Blue team: Currently looking for five member to join this team on a permanent basis. Red team helps as much as possible at the moment.

I also vote for: gravity well since gravity is the source of power in a singularity.
This is by far one of the best outfits you have introduced to the game.
Keep up this level of quality and I might forget about new armor sets altogether.
To top it all off, I go do triple wurm to take my mind off the fact I’ve been farming for a week and getting no where on that stupid beta portal, and what do you know ?

1st, I’ve been farming for that [censored] beta portal for a week without it ever dropping.
Now, I go do something I find fun for a change and this [censored] happens.

It gives me quite a bit enjoyment when I see people who think they are entitled to certain stuff cry for not getting it.
Correction, the problem here is not entitlement, but as always how broken and [censored] the RNG system in this game is, to top that off, people getting several portals when all they can use is ONE while others are still farming for them.
Add to that the fact some people me included have been farming non stop for days without a single [censored] portal.
That’s part of the issue, entitlement has nothing to do with it !!!
I’ve been farming everyday after work, putting all my precious free time into the game.
yet, not a single portal, while some people play for 15 minutes and get it.Others even get 4-5 portals, I know this is RNG and all that [censored]
But it feels so [censored] unfair.
I would gladly shove a fifty dollar bill down their throat, to avoid the insanity and unfairness of this [censored] ridiculous grind.
Took me 35hrs, countdown of my bd booster and a little more. Mostly trying to get it from dry top; just because I like to regularly play SW an evening a week or so and didn’t want to burn out on the zone (like you already have long ago). People don’t get 5 portals… you believe what everyone tells you? People don’t get it in 15 minutes, although it is always possible from a freak occurrence dealing with RND. But nonetheless, got fed up with DT and went to SW, running ~550 luck literally two minutes after getting there… lol we’ll just say I have a new admiration for those roots attacking red caravan near the map entrance.
I don’t think it’s a good idea to “sell” closed beta keys, not for any respectable company. That would make them look more like money grubbers. They do this because as with most games they want you to log in daily, a whole marketing psychology behind that, visibility, when dealing with RMT anyway. Traditionally, closed beta keys can come with pre-orders, but there is a whole field of landmines with that let alone any can of worms, especially since they are still working things out from what I glean out of like their “ready up” videos. Better the complaints for beta drops over a short time rather than long-term complaints of “where is what I paid for!!!” type of stuff. Lesser of two weevils…

Getting tired of coming out of it with [censored] to show for my effort.
Seems to me that this event is making a whole lot more people furious than it is making people happy. I know I am, and getting so sick of this [censored] I might quit playing till [censored] GW2: HoT finally comes out !

Will Magic Find Affect Beta Entry Portals?

As per the title – Will Magic Find affect the drop rate of the Beta Portals?
Don’t waste your time with MF, I farmed for 10 hours straight today with 547%MF and for all that time the only rare drop I ever got was a mini mordrem worth 1g99s and 1 carapace coat box.
I swear it’s feels like someone at a.net flagged my account to never get anything worth a kitten !

This is a ludicrous change. For Warriors to get 50% uptime of retaliation with no boon duration as a minor trait, it’s just madness. It was already a great trait for PvP/WvW and I used it all the time, but now I get free Rousing Resillience to make me even more OP. This needs to be swapped with Cull the Weak or Armoured Attack at very least.
people complaining about warriors when one of the most broken [censored] classes in the game is getting 50% dmg reduction while in stealth as a baseline to their profession. on top of a bunch of crazy damage additions.
I wouldn’t mind it so kitten much, if they finally introduced active counter measures for stealth, like for example drop an AoE stealth detection field with a 350 radius, any stealthed enemies entering the field are revealed for 10 seconds. reveal cannot be stripped and stacks duration.

They should calculate how many hero points total it would take to acquire everything we have right now under the “old” system.
Than proceed to allocate that amount of hero points to every characters made before this new system is introduced.
This way there is no technical limitation or any other kind of crappy excuse to lock us out of stuff we have already paid for with either gold or skill points.
I strongly encourage a.net to look at what their own company president said during the Pax HoT announcement event.
invalidating the time and resources players have put into their characters is not what guild wars 2 is about.

Talking about retroactive rewards, what about them hero points ?
I for one have all skills, traits and utils unlocked on all existing professions. As do a lot of veteran players…….
I fully expect A.net to grandfather veterans into the new hero point system, meaning all my existing characters from before the change WILL still have all of that unlocked for them, except off course the hero points needed for the new specializations.
The only profession I’m expecting to have to do some leg work for is the revenant and the new specializations.
Please post trait changes for HOT. Factual

There wasn’t anything written anywhere about tomes of knowledge, it was all about scrolls of knowledge !!!
Those two items are NOT the same.
I fully expect Tomes to continue working even in HoT so if I choose to insta-level my revenant I can always do so.
Tomes not working is one change I would NOT accept !!!
Leveling was fun the 1st three or four times, I got nine level 80’s now.
I’ve done all the normal leveling I can stomach, for this game’s lifetime.
Q: With the change to skill points, how will we acquire blood stone shards for legendary crafting ? this thing alone costs 200 skill points. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bloodstone_Shard
Q: What about all the other stuff Miyani sells for skill Points.
Q: Hero point system, will veteran players be grandfathered into it? meaning all my characters from before the change will still have all skills, traits and utilities unlocked. Regardless of how many hero points one of my alt characters may or may not have.

I do not know who in their right mind thought NPE was a good idea and I can’t fathom for the life of me how it got past any sort of proper testing.

The people whining on this thread clearly did NOT watch the HoT announcement event.
One of 1st main points Mike O’brien made was:
The time and effort put into your characters should not be invalidated nor trivialized.
He proceeded, to tell us our top tier gear and our level cap characters today will be our top tier gear and, end level cap characters tomorrow.
Getting retroactively rewarded simply expands on these core tenants.
enough said.
You don’t like it that veterans are getting rewarded while you still have to do the leg work (we have already done) tough luck, deal with it !

I want to also add: turret is not the main problem, the trait is. Why do you think no matter ow many “nerf” thief stealth get, it is still problematic?

Trickery- so many increase of stealings, Acrobatics- so many gains, Shadow Arts- so many stealths.
Why so many for 1 profession? Why is so many not the main problem? Why not fix source of problem first? Why not start fix in main problem first?
Same goes for all problematic professions: why after all “nerfs” they are still problematic? Again, the answer is in their traits, not their weapons, not their builds, not their skill.
Engnineer is 1 of the problematic professions: so why not nerf their traits? why not redesign their traits?

The community has lost hope of ever getting either active counters or a fix to stealth.
when you fight a thief build for stealth the only thing you can do is hurt them as bad as you can so they have to stealth away to recover.
in WvW the standard operating procedure against them is always the same.
put the hurt on, so they have to stealth away, but do not chase them trying to finish them off, it will almost never happen. aka stealth is a broken [censored] mechanic with no active counters.
I like how Bridger from Team Legacy puts it.
“any stealth mechanic which doesn’t have an active counter is just bad implementation.”
These words are even more powerful considering how powerful stealth is in any game that has it.
ok sure, but can you take a look at turret engi’s protection uptime and consider that as well or instead? between thumper and protection injection and 30% boon duration from alchemy, engi easily has potentially 130% protection uptime. no other class comes close, and when they do, like d/d ele did, you nerf it.

Which is why I stated that dueling can be implemented as long as it is not in PVE world.
I’m against dueling that disturbs PVe but if it is out of the way somewhere wherever it may be I’ ok with it, see. I’m not saying do not implement it. I’m saying give it to them while not disturbing the PVE world immersion.

Someone told me that dueling is finally coming to GW2 in HoT, but I haven’t been able to find any official sources confirming that.

- Will dungeon experience increase the progress bar for Tyrian masteries ?
- What percentage of a mastery bar will a dungeon run increase ?
- Masteries, are they horizontal or vertical progression ?
The reason I ask the last question, is because from what is known so far it sounds like you’d need more and more experience the deeper you go into the mastery track. To me it sounds just like the experience progression of old, which I absolutely appall. I’ve quit many mmorpg’s because of their archaic systems.
Some clarification would be greatly appreciated.
When you’re ready I expect a blog post detailing these systems and maybe addressing some of my concerns.

Spool of Thick Elonian Cord only takes 50 Thick Cured Leather Squares
Lump of Mithrillium takes only 50 Mithril Ignots
Glob of Elder Spirit Residue takes only 50 Elder Wook Planks

Spool of Silk Weaving Thread takes 100 Silk BoltsIt should be brought down to 50 like all the other daily CD ascended mats and the price of Damask and silk for that matter will plummet. Bad enough cloth is the only mat not easily farmed but they make you use double the amount when compared to all the others.
GL with this, it has been said over and over since they released the stupid T7 crafting !
why they thought it was a good idea i do not know.
On top of that shortly before introducing T7, in hopes of making silk a bit more expensive they upped the scraps needed for a bolt of silk from 2 scraps to 3 !
when they introduced T7 crafting this should’ve been the 1st thing they needed to fix as well !
But nobody seems to care !
I leveled one of each race a long time ago, just in case something like what’s gonna happen to the HoT story was done by a.net. Sadly I deleted my sylvari necro some time go. Which means I had to level a new sylvari ranger to have it ready for HoT.
Now I don’t have enough ToK’s for my Revenant :S hope I can gather enough of them (which is more than likely) before HoT releases.
This is a stupid, entitlement complaint.
No game company develops for all languages, yet it seems a.net should be the one to do this, entitled much ! I would rather they put that extra effort into things that actually matter for the game, like builds templates…..
Most gaming companies pick the top languages that the most people in their service region speak.
Which a.net has done beautifully to a very high degree of quality.
It is not a.net’s fault your native language is not supported by the game, yet I do not see the portuguese or any other minority community starting a kerfuffle about it.
Imagine this complain:
Why is my native swahili language not supported ?
I paid for the game to, I want my native language in it, so I can understand the story !

I’m guessing it’s purely an issue that they have been unable to make a decent looking cape fit all models and work properly on the lowest level machines that can run the game. Likely an indirect issue of still being anchored to DX9.
Again (for the couple dozenth time), WHY does this have ANYTHING to do with HoT?
Well to a lot of people HOT expansion is this magic expansion that will fix every single problem guild wars 2 has and will bring all the missing features players think guild wars 2 is lacking.
That is why all of these threads are popping up, because HOT is the messiah, the savior it will take them to this imaginary nonexistent promise land. It is everything.
Obviously, they will be extremely disappointed but let them dream for at least a few more months.

I understand their population concerns but this would hurt stronghold as a gamemode. Heck, it wouldn’t even be a gamemode. It’s just another map for unranked with a gimmick. In the long term splitting both modes is beneficial for the pvp community.
However, which mode will they support in the future? Will they balance for stronghold or conquest? Will they (finally?) create a competitive infrastructure with decent rewards for stronghold, conquest or both? etc etc.
The way it is being implemented is not just gonna hurt stronghold it will undoubtedly also hurt conquest.
Imagine this: you order a coffee, but are placed in a general ordering queue that only processes what is most voted by other customers !
Yikes, um waiter, I did not order tea, I ordered coffee I want my money back !
I will never visit your restaurant ever again comes to mind.
Same thing is what is gonna go on with this stronghold / conquest shared queue.
With the added bonus of dishonored debuff if you dare leave all conquest matches while trying to get into stronghold. yikes again !
All I wish for is:
- Cat ears.
- Cat paws.
- Cat tail.
- Nyan nyan dance.
I do not care how or where they are implemented as long as they become a reality.
Might be a bit lore breaking but so are bunny ears and the new wings.

I understand why you “think” placing stronghold together with conquest maps when HoT launches “seems like a good idea” your thinking is: We don’t wish to split the community.
But, I’m here to tell you,
It is the biggest mistake you will ever make, you should prevent it instead of doing damage control afterwards.
This is one instance in which your stubbornness to hold on to your guns is going to backfire.
The reason why is so simple even a 5 year old will tell you.
Not all game modes mix well, granted, WvW is PVeVP which is great and it’s wonderful.
But……
sPvP and Stronghold are like water and oil, it just doesn’t mix, no matter how much you want it to. Sure they are both PVP but the overall mechanics, objectives and builds will be completely different, warranting them to be on separate queues.
Here are some of the main issues you will face if you launch this the way you are thinking right now:
- I keep getting conquest when all I want to play is stronghold !
- My build is for stronghold, it doesn’t work well in spvp but that is all I keep getting !
- Great, now I have the deserter debuff because all I wanna play is stronghold, whenever spvp is selected I leave cause I’m not interested. Why do you punish me so.
- All I wanna play is unranked spvp, this stronghold is getting in my way of doing that.
- Great, my build is for spvp but stronghold came up, now I’m gonna be useless I hate that.
Everybody will be asking you: Why in Dwayna’s name are these two game modes not in their own separate queues ? Who dropped the ball on this ?
These are just some of the issues that will no doubt come up if you launch stronghold without implementing a proper separate queue for it.
This is one instance in which I urge you to listen to the community, I get it we’re not developers and a lot of the times you do know better than us.
This is one instance in which I’m telling you, this is not gonna end well for the game.
I will leave you with the following thought,
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
But, what if the few are the sane ones and by following the crazed many you just set yourself up for failure, would you still agree with it ?

Trough introduction of this ‘legendary journey’ tasks etc. ? I can almost afford Dusk right now, but I’m not sure if it will be a waste to spend 1000G at this moment.
Why would you want to create a 1st gen “legendary” when they are not truly legendary in any meaning or translation of the word ?!
From the moment precursor crafting was announced, I stopped trying for the 1st gens, instead I’m hoarding all materials, doing world completion (again) and making as much gold as I possibly can while HoT is in development.
The new gen legendaries will be truly legendary (at least I hope so) < if this is true, 1st gen precursors will plummet, cause you know supply and demand baby, if no one wants them the price drops that is inevitable.
off course if the new gens look like crap, well the price of 1st gen precursors will soar like never before (I hope this doesn’t happen)
I hate almost everything about the current gen legendaries, specially how tied they are to the freaking RNG ! that cheapens them so much, many players have been playing for years now, without ever seeing a precursor. meanwhile some newb for lack of a better word buys the game today and RNG-sus gives him a precursor tomorrow.
That right there is just WRONG on so many levels.
That and the fact you can just CC your way to a 1st gen legendary is what makes them not legendary at all in my book.
Legendaries should be about a legendary journey with an epic story, not about who can farm the longest or who can amass the most gold or who is blessed by a [censored] system like RNG.
capes in gw2 will not look the same as in gw1, the systems in gw1 were primitive to put mildly. Technology evolves, I’m sure they can get it working properly. it’s just a matter of having time to develop the physics systems for it to move and respond properly.
Thinking that because according to you capes looked bad in gw1, does NOT necessarily mean they will look bad in gw2.

shrugs i could care less despite what i posted here, i turned them off in GW1 i can turn them off here too, and if it takes up the backpack, then i dont have to use them.

I don’t know why people are saying no capes. It’s not like it’s going to be mandatory or the other backpieces will be removed.
I think it’s just a knee jerk, negative reaction for some reason.
