Shambling Horror - Unique Skin

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Lazuline.3876

Lazuline.3876

In the previous Beta Weekend, it was decided that the Reaper Skill: “Rise!” would be changed to spawn Shambling Horrors (New Minion) instead of Jagged Horrors (Old Rats that used to bleed to death within 3 seconds). On this change, I would like to request ANet to do an End-to-End change.

Presently, Shambling Horrors use the exact same skin as Jagged Horrors. Functionally, they do different things (Shambling Horror has an innate Dark Bond while Jagged Horrors Bleeds). Thus, it would make sense for them to be visually different as well.

what im confused about is DH had like zero night crew before leagues. nobody has spoken of any transfers. were they always there and just not playing? they’re saving your kitten just wondering why they never used to do that.

This is an interesting observation and I agree with it to an extent. If you would take some time to review DH’s history, you’d see that DH’s primetime has consistently changed over the year since launch. For a time, DH used to be a night-capping monster with HOT & HVN taking the lead. After their collapse, DH shifted to a NA primetime powerhouse with guilds like WE & RE taking the helm. Needless to say, there were a ton of other guilds that made great contributions to the server. Some left, some collapsed, and the rest continue to fight for DH. Anyway, the coverage eventually balanced out to form what DH has become now.

That being said, I would like to request fellow DH players and guilds to please cease the current in-fighting. At such a crucial match, solidarity and unity must take precedence. Let’s all work to bring DH victory.

6/21: DH / IoJ / NSP

in Match-ups

Lazuline.3876

IoJ has fought DH enough times to know what DH is capable of. They mainly focus their forces in EB. It’s rare to see them pop out to the other BL’s in force large enough to take it. But it does happen. You guys may not have noticed, whilst NSP has been hitting DH BL, we’ve been pushing DH back in their corner of EB. Some of our Oceanic forces were able to cap most of DH BL a couple of days ago, but it didn’t last for long.

So many times I watched DH battle fiercely with us in EB to hold their corner, then I would check DH BL map and see most of it flying NSP colours. And I would wonder “why the hell they would fight to save their corner in EB when most of their BL is gone?

I personally believe IoJ has been costing itself points with tying ourselves down to SM. It takes too much of us to defend it, all the while NSP only has to maintain their corner in EB, their BL, pressure SM when they want and push DH BL at their leisure. I’ve tried on numerous occasions so far to get people to head to DH BL to flip their keeps there. But we’re all too busy defending SM or pushing DH’s corner to mount a decent attack on DH BL. And seeing as though most of DH only roll in EB (their farming zerg as I like to call it) it makes it even harder to draw our forces away from EB for any length of time.

I haven’t logged in the forums in quite a while but I just had to after reading this. There is so much truth here about DH’s Oceanic Crew Mentality. We are an EB-Centric Crew. The BL falling typically has little to no impact to the mindset of the soldiers in EB to fight for DH. As far as we are concerned, we were posted to fight in EB and that is where we shall stay. Leave the BL to the Border Patrol Crew & Militia Patrol. The soldiers remain in EB.

Personally, I almost always jump into EB when I want to play some serious WvW. I only use DH BL for its banking and crafting facilities.

I find it amusing that the Skritt are now at the top of a player’s list. They must’ve really endeared themselves to us over the past few months.

Mine would be:

1.) Tengu
2.) Dwarves
3.) Quaggans

NPC Commanders definitely deserve the tag. They give us free supply, super free siege weapons, spawn a massive ramming dolyak, and buff everyone around them for huge amounts of health. Not only that, he is also quite sturdy and would take several scores of players to take him down. I haven’t seen any other in-game commander do that.

What bothers me is that in GW, we had the whole “pay for the item you want” when it came to costumes/skins. What I do not like about GW2 is that said skins is a “random chance”. Why not just release a skin and ask for upfront gem payment rather than putting it as a “chance” item? This gives everyone a fair chance, those who use credit cards, or convert currencies, to plan and buy what they want. I miss what ArenaNet used to do with the GW market. I wish they would do the same here.

If there is anything I dislike about the current state of Gem-Only Items, it is this. I hate gambling and I’ve never bought the BLC from Halloween and F&F, Wintersday Boxes, and now this Consortium Crate.

I’d happily pay a premium on the items inside of them for gems. I just don’t like the possibility of spending 4,000 gems on these “boxes” and getting nothing in return. I’d rather spend 4,000 to get say a guaranteed Foostivoo or some of those weapon skins.

But this is for another topic. Maybe we should regulate the release of these boxes instead of the exchange. Haha.

No, it’s not the same thing. In the real world, a store doesn’t have to pay a fee when it undercuts its products to match the competition, instead they have to worry about not lowering the price too much or else they won’t make enough money to cover expenses, initial product cost and to make an acceptable profit. Hence, in real life the ones that manage to keep low expenses and work on a large scale so they can accept making less money-per-product because they’re selling a load of them and cut the initial price they get (or produce) their products at will have the upper hand.

In this game, the only advantage you can have is to be the last one to post a product.

And no, I didn’t undercut. In fact, I like that “Match lower seller” button a lot!

A store has expenses, you have a trading post fee. You don’t have to go into economies of scale to see it. A store can have loss leaders or promotions to attract sales. In contrast, you can undercut in GW2 to sell your item.

You don’t have to undercut by just 1 copper. It depends on how much profit you’d like to make. In fact, you don’t even have to match the lowest seller. You can set your own prices and see if it sells. This is much like anything being sold irl. Price it too high and no one would buy it. Price it low, and people will consider it a steal and buy it instantly. Price it like everyone else, and you’ll be subjected to brand loyalty and marketing.

In fact, you’re luckier in game in that if you price it like the lowest seller, you’re guaranteed a spot in the queue. IRL if you price in like everyone else, you might not even get sold at all if your product has no branding. In summary, if you go for maximizing profit in game, then don’t complain about those willing to receive less even if it is just 1 copper.

Undercutting is fine IRL where there isn’t perfect information. Here the trading post gives perfect information about what everyone’s price is. That’s not realistic at all.

You don’t have perfect information but you can certainly find out. It is why we have competitor analysis and espionage for the big boys and outright just checking out fellow stores for small time businesses.

Are you even serious?! Like, REALLY?!? Only way to make 1-10+G an hour is farming CoF with an uberparty and you don’t even hit the 10G mark so I’ll just ignore your ignorance. On my moneymaking skills… well, one example, I made 15G with two clicks flipping 1 Infinite Molten Berserker Tonic; so that’s that. I’m sure the loot and xp you gain is awesome; nice job, buddy!! xDD

Well, I laud you for having great gold making skills. Now, if you could avoid buying gems, it would really help out those who can’t make as much gold. It will ease up the demand for gems and would hopefully make it the rate more favorable to those that want to exchange for it.

You know what? Sure, you’re all correct; “It’s functioning very well”… It must be my imagination what is making me see players on mapchat talking about how they can’t even imagine themselves affording a rare dye much less converting their “fortune” (usually less than 10-20G) to gems. I’ll just let you, economy geniuses, do your thing and meanwhile I’ll instruct the fellas on the wonders of using the many webpages and tools to flip, speculate, and exploit the hell out of this ridiculous economy. I’ll be a REAL HERO to them (true story, I’ve gotten many thanks).

On a side note, It’s adorable how you fail so miserably in driving players to low level areas and meanwhile you have LA’s TP causing an overflow (you’d actually think it’s an indication of something, right? ‘giggles’)… simply adorable!! (protip: flip in RataSum for 0 lag, better loading times and proper bank access) Anyhow, I hope you’re all enjoying Tyria, that world of wonder and social stratification.

PS Smith, do they pay you for the attitude? Geessh, keep your kitten together and handle your job like a pro (whatever you do here)… sad, so sad.

I may have missed the point and I do apologize but I cannot seem to connect your side note with the topic.

Anyway, there’s practically nothing in the Gem Store that is absolutely necessary for a player to achieve success in GW2. Most of them are cosmetic changes, some are boosts, and the rest are added functionality items (Bank Slots, Character Slots, Remakes, and the like). That rare dye you speak of is purely cosmetic and you can practically buy it off the TP. It doesn’t affect gameplay whatsoever. It will not be to your detriment to not have the “rare dye”.

I think part of the problem is that there’s no real need for people to convert gems to gold to keep the exchange rate low. If I had the disposable income RL I would have more gold than I’d know what to do with because, at least for me, most desireables come straight from the gem store with very few exceptions. I buy virtually nothing off the TP compared to the amount of gold I put toward gem purchases.

This is a solid point mate. The items in the TP that are most likely attractive to many (precursors, good looking items, and the like) are way too expensive to be bought with gems given prevailing exchange rates. For me, the only noticeable time people convert gems to gold is either when they need some quick gold or when they notice a sharp spike in the conversion rate.

I see no current issues with the exchange, it’s functioning very well. Remember for every opinion on which way should be “favored” there is at least one opinion for the opposite.

PS please stop calling everything inflation, it’s driving me mad.

I fully agree with you John. The exchange is working perfectly fine now and imposing regulations on it would probably do more harm than good. Let the free market decide on its prices. Hopefully, the value of gold & globs of ectoplasms goes down even further and gem prices increase. That way, newer players will have an easier time getting into the game and getting their BIS gear. This also adds incentives for gemmers to convert their hard-earned gems into in-game gold.

What people forget here is the time factor. Both gold and gems are generally “hard-earned” (please note that this excludes extremely lucky players who make a ton of gold easily or those born with so much money, they don’t need it anymore). You either work hard for it in game or in real life. Either way, there is time and effort involved and regulating one over the other is not exactly fair. In fact, gold is by far easier to get and you generally get it by having fun and playing a great game.

2/22 DH vs GoM vs HoD

in WvW

Posted by: Lazuline.3876

Lazuline.3876

The battles tonight were very peaceful. There were not much resistance or offensives from either HoD or GoM the past few hours. Even the mighty GoM keep that created the epic siege yesterday was very lightly defended (only 2 GoM Defenders). Thus, the keep fell with only 1 ram (outer gate) & 2 catapults (inner wall). This is most likely the effect of the weekdays coming in.

That being said, we would like to give a special mention to GoM Guild HH (who is arguably one of the best GoM Oceanic-Asiatic timezone Guild) for leaving behind guild buffs at the keep. DH will use these buffs to further strengthen our ranks.

Edit: With the peacefulness of EB & the buffs from HH, the DH Army decided to take out the lesser-tackled enemies that threaten the land. The Champion Spirit was very powerful and nearly destroyed the Darkhaven Army. But by the gods, we persevered & triumphed!

Edit 2: The immortal grub was next on the agenda. Needless to say, the combined forces of the Darkhaven army was able to defeat this hated foe. In fact, one of our commanders even earned the moniker Gabriel Hawkins the “Wurm Slayer”.

P.S. In the time it took us to kill the immortal grub, GoM was able to successfully retake its keep. Thus, the time to siege once more is upon us.

Spies? That’s pretty outrageous given how expensive it would be to transfer to DH and back to original server, unless you’re implying that your own people have been playing for the other team all along (and if so why not just join the server they’re intent on helping for some inexplicable reason than linger on your server). Otherwise that would involve two accounts, and that’s even more money than the transfers would cost. Paranoid doesn’t even begin to describe things at that point.

I really hope that the seed of paranoia was implanted in your guys’ heads from some troll who doesn’t even understand the fundamentals of the game. We’re tier 7 here, if someone was THAT insane about WvW they would have joined Jade Quarry ages ago and left us all in a better place for their departure.

That’s exactly the point and is testament to how well GoM fought in that 5-hour siege. After trying numerous different strategies to bring down the keep and having it all fail, it created a crazy paranoia that there might be spies among the DH ranks. Needless to say, that was all there is to that concept of spies. It’s just a paranoia and is based off nothing.

With the spy paranoia, DH Commanders proceeded to employ covert opts to take the keep. The covert opts failed as well as we were pushed back once more by the GoM defense. After that, the DH army just lost it and decided to employ Brute Force via throwing gold at the keep and employing dozens of golems. Needless to say, it was one of the most memorable sieges ever and was indeed great fun.

Believe it or not, I think you forgot a golem rush. Between the 15 and the 10 I seem to recall an attempt with a single golem to break the damaged gate. There were so many golems in the first rush that they were culling and I thought there were “only” eight. I jumped up on the ramparts to see the 10 golem rush, hit the group a couple of times, but then had to log off to get to work.

Oh yes, I forgot about that. In between the west wall trebbing, a bunch of our guildies and some select players made a rush to the water gate. We were becoming paranoid of spies at that point in time so we tried to covertly take the gate with a golem and a ram. Once we broke through, we announced it via team chat and made a crazy push to the inner gate. It was so crazy, a bunch didn’t know where the water gate was and there was no plan after the water gate breach. Needless to say, we were eventually pushed back out. But, it was great fun.

Alright. I just have to say that GoM is doing a fine job of defending their keep thus far. We’ve [DH] been attacking it for 4 hours now. In no particular order…

1.) Trebs from Mendon
2.) Rams at Water Gate
3.) Trebs from Anz Hill
4.) Trebs from Island in the Lake
5.) Rams at Front Gate
6.) Catas at West Gate
7.) 15-Golem Rush (this one actually got us to the Lord Room)
8.) Second 10-Golem Rush
9.) More Rams at Water Gate

Clearly, you guys are determined to hold on the keep & Veloka Tower. Nonetheless, we will persevere. Good fight!

Edit: After a final 25-Golem Rush (Of which a few were Omegas), we were finally able to take GoM Keep! Well fought.

P.S. In the time we took to siege GoM Keep, HoD was able to retake their entire side of EB.

Lazuline.3876

G’day all! I just logged of from WvWvW with the score & status of the world in the attached file. Earlier, DH decided to switch tactics and mainly focus on the defense of the northern half of our Borderlands. I say defense, but really, it is more of attempting to fight off DB’s zerg and retaking what we lose. At least, at the the time of writing, DH was somewhat successful in this strategy. Kudos to all the brave DH Defenders who rallied to her cause earlier! Valiant effort!

That being said, we also tried to launch guerrilla tactics in DB’s BL, EB, and BP’s BL (only taking green objectives then leaving them be for BP). During this time, we encountered a minor skirmishing group from BP. I would just like to take this chance to apologize for the minor hostilities fought during that time. Rest assured, when we noticed it was BP, we called off hostilities and asked our guys to back off. Likewise, it was great to see that your guys did too. At the very least, during DB’s Asia-Pacific Dominance, we will try out best to prevent any affront to BP and solely focus on DB.

On a side note, we also encountered Oxcide & WE a lot of times earlier. Unfortunately each time we did, all semblance of order broke within our ranks as it became apparent people are now more focused to take out Oxcide & WE than to care about the objectives. We will need to get past this stage if we are to hope to even put up a good fight in the remainder of the week during the Asia-Pacific times.

To Oxcide & WE, thank you for all the things you’ve done. I appreciate the time you’ve invested in leading Darkhaven. While we may wish you transferred after the match up ended rather than during it, it is nonetheless your own call and we will learn to respect it. May you find good fortune and great fun in your new home. We will reorganize the server and hopefully, one day reach the pinnacle that Darkhaven used to be on. Cheers mates!

Hey all. We just logged off after fighting with DB’s Asia-Pacific crew for the last few hours. We detached from the DH Borderlands group and gathered in DB’s BL, BP’s BL (which was generally all-green like ours), and Eternal Battlegrounds. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts and despite gathering all that we could to join us on this offensive, we simply could not fight DB’s Asia-Pacific crew conventionally. We put into motion all that we’ve learned from fighting Ehmry’s Asia-Pacific crew but the sheer numbers difference of DB’s Asia-Pacific crew renders all tactics void. Bar none, you guys have numbers beyond imagine that we cannot at all hope to match.

That being said, we’ll be switching strategies for the remainder of the week during our shift. We’ll continue to do battle with DB’s Asia-Pacific crew. Just that, we’ll no longer do it conventionally. Cheers mates and we are looking forward to a fun-filled adventure week with DB.

P.S. To any BP Soldier that fights at these grave times of all-green, know that at least at these times, we will not attack BP. You are free to attack us, but we will focus our efforts mainly on DB. Hopefully, we can switch the +600 DB +30 DH + 30 BP into something more equitable.

This is just to express how much of a fun and learning experience it has been this week fighting against Ehmry Bay. Be it when we’re conducting a siege, defending against one, or having open field battles, Ehmry has shown that it knows numerous advanced tactics that we in Darkhaven can definitely learn from. That aside, I’ve also met some very good Ehmry Assassins that were kind enough to give us some pointers on how they go about their “chaotic” business. It’s always nice when elite players share their knowledge, even to those that they’re fighting against. Creates better competition overall.

Sadly though, it seems like we will most likely finish in 3rd this week unless we can rally back the points we lost during the past few days. That being said, we’re looking forward to this week’s finale. Hopefully, we can pull something off.

Gold/Gem exchange rate is making me sad

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Lazuline.3876

Lazuline.3876

Please note that this is just my personal opinion and is not meant to be an affront to any player out there.

Just a different thought, I personally find the increasing value of Gems to be a good thing. It gives those who cannot play often a chance to get a taste of the wealth of the privileged few in this game. In my own case, I work during the day and cannot play as heavily as the privileged few who can.

I realize that even if I wanted to, I can never join the ranks of the super rich (those who “cooked” during the early stages of the game, TP wizards, and generally lucky RNG people). This is a mix of both lack of luck and real life constraints. Likewise, I seem to be unable to make more than a gold an hour on average (some hours you get more, some hours you get less). This really just places me in the majority of people who just get to about 20 to 30 gold post-exotic gearing (at least, before the ascended came).

I always admire those who can flip the TP market like a master. I watched in vain as I missed opportunity after opportunity (dyes, BLTCs, ectos, mats) as I did not realize it early enough when these opportunities happened. Now though, with gold to gem rates moving to 2 gold per 100 gems, it suddenly lets me use real world skills to achieve wealth in game.

To put it simply, I can either get 1 gold while playing for an hour or clock in an extra hour of work and get US$ 40 which I can exchange for 3600 gems or 72 gold (At 2 Gold:100 Gems). This way, I can now focus on getting the things I wanted at a more efficient pace (in terms of use of time) rather than endlessly grinding and getting minimal returns.

sadly I am not Laz. I do NOT agree with it. But the fact is if you are not jumping on the treadmill, and instead playing it the way you want… they will take more and more away until you simply have no choice.

That is just sad. So basically, they make an entire world for you and at the end of the day, want you to just play in that last 1% area over & over again?

Still you can go into 40+ zones and get the enhanced karma now, they did increase it for those zones 40+ so not sure what the issue is. They just don’t want you to be in all pow prec %damage gear and mow thru everything to get the points you need so….

Not sure about why this thread is even here. I’ve never had issues doing the DE’s in 40+ zones while gathering. And my gear doesn’t even have the runes in it yet. ;P

Well, the only issue I have with it is the decrease for the lower level zones. For me, each zone “areas” have unique & interesting flavors in them. Thus, exploring randomly in these places for me is relatively fun. Now, there is more incentive to just play in the high level zones & forget about all the other good content in the lower level ones.

What I’m getting is what want good rewards for doing things lower then you level.

That’s interesting.

Doing things below your level netted you a 40% reduction in rewards prior to the patch. This means that if you run Plinx over & over again, you can potentially get 40% more gold, karma, and experience than say if you retook a camp for the Seraphs or fought the Flame Legion wars. Post patch, that 40% has effectively been adjusted to about 60% reduction. Given this, I begin to wonder if the original design was to play 99% of Tyria pre-80 and stick with the 1% of Tyria once you hit 80. It seems quite sad to just throw away the 99% especially since those zones are much more fleshed out & living (no pun intended for Orr…) compared to the last 1%.

Obviously ANet thinks you’re playing it wrong. Get out to the dungeons and grind!

I do this as part of my dailies. After you get Dungeon Master, get your sets of Exotics, with only the Legendary left, what else do you do? Personally, I grew weary of the grinding so I started exploring. I saw a bunch of new events in the earlier zones (like that Undead Commander that claimed he killed Tybalt!) that really got me to go around the map more. Unfortunately, it seems quite sad that this is “playing it wrong” as I just find it fun.

To put it simply, grinding is not fun for me at all. If at some point, the only thing left to do is to grind, then that would be the day GW2 ends for me.

Low Level Areas - Reduced DE Rewards

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lazuline.3876

If you level 80, you should be grinding to get ascended items. You are playing it wrong.

Is it safe to assume that you are being sarcastic? Personally, I already have my previously thought of “end-game” gear minus the Legendary Weapon. Thus, instead of grinding, I generally like to explore & revisit various places in Tyria to see how it has changed when I first went through them.

As someone who’s been inhabiting Queensdale since weeks for purpose of running dailies I can see the reasoning behind even though I was annoyed by it at first as well – naturally as I made use of some design inconsistencies. Put simply there’s a higher DE density and frequency in low-levels with an appropriately low complexity as well. Getting the same full rewards for solo’ing events as people get having to do entire chains in Orr did not make sense.

Ah, but note though that the DEs in low level areas give less reward than DEs in Orr, or any other high level area. So really, what happened is that the previously lower rewards became even lower. Whether or not this was necessary is up for discussion.

Low Level Areas - Reduced DE Rewards

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lazuline.3876

Lazuline.3876

Hi All. Forgive me if I missed it but what was the rationale behind reducing the already low rewards in low-level areas? Particularly, I am referring to the Dynamic Event Rewards.

To illustrate:
Prior to 15-Nov-2012 Patch: 243 Karma 1 Silver 20 Copper Reward
Post 15-Nov-2012 Patch: 147 Karma 63 Copper Reward

Personally, I quite enjoy going through the various country sides (Below Level 40 Areas) as I like the content there (Centaur Wars etc.) better than Orr or Frostgorge. However, it seems like all DE rewards for Areas below Level 40 have been reduced by at least 50% for any Level 80 players playing in these areas.

That being said, why is there a need to further discourage players from playing in certain parts of Tyria? Wasn’t the intent of ANET to create a game where a player can fully enjoy Tyria in its entirety (which was the exact rationale behind having items scale up to the player’s level)? If so, why implement this reduction?

Thank you for taking the time to read this thread. I would appreciate it if we can get any official response to this as I am quite disheartened by these changes.

Edit Note: Updated Karma of Post-Patch. Just did a random DE to get the exact numbers.

I would also like to seek assistance on this. Like those who posted before me, I was able to play this game without issue until the Commerce Maintenance (October 3).

Details as follows:
Server: Darkhaven (US)
Complaint: Severe Lag & Disconnections. In addition, Guild Chat, Party Chat, & corresponding Friends & Guild lists does not function at all.

We would really appreciate it if ANET or some Community Manager Relations personnel can assist us on this. Thanks!

I was about to post this suggestion but good thing there’s a forum search function.

Anyway, I think this is badly needed and shouldn’t take that long to implement. Thus, I’m again forwarding this suggestion to the developers.

Sorrow's Furnace vs Darkhaven vs Sanctum of Rall - WUVWUV

in WvW

Also, the half naked Norn that leads the night crew is Russian, and his translate tool forces it into ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME. It’s quite hilarious. First night of this revamped matchup and we came from 3rd place down 2k to the 2nd place Sorrow’s Furnace, to up 3k on 2nd place Sanctum of Rall. Forced SF down to +70 for awhile, then took Sanctum down to +30. I love our night crew. #steamroller

Initially though, a good number of DH players did not like this half naked Norn and many reported him for “Spamming” & “Verbal Abuse” because of his All Caps writing style and his tendency to order/curse around. This resulted in him getting banned. Admittedly, I didn’t like him before either.

But despite getting banned, he made an alternate character named similarly to his original character except that he added a “Temp” to the name. After this, he continued to rally DH and transformed it from a server that usually gets stomped on to one that can actually compete in WvWvW now. With this, I think this half-naked norn has slowly become a favorite of DH players and most follow him now.

Anyway, looking forward to a fun round 2 with Sanctum & Sorrow’s. Cheers!

On Armor Sets and Stats

I generally agree with Condition Damage and Toughness but why Precision? Precision affects Critical Hits which I cannot seem to understand why that stat would be important for necromancers considering we typically either go down the route of minions or conditions/wells. Can you further clarify?

What is the best Armor Set and corresponding Stat Combinations for Necromancers?

Hi All. I made this topic to know what my fellow necromancer out here should be the focus on stats and the likewise, the corresponding armor sets that best accompany these.

I know that it is “build-specific” so to be exact, I generally roll either a wells/condition necromancer or a minion master (I do believe that some time future, hopefully within my lifetime, that the minion AI will be fixed). That being said, what do you think is best?

I note that these stats come in threes with the following combinations:

Option 1: Condition Damage, Precision, & Toughness
Option 2: Healing Power, Precision, & Vitality
Option 3: Power, Toughness, & Vitality
Option 4: Condition Damage, Precision, & Vitality

If I’m missing an option, please do tell me so that I can include it. But anyway, of these, I am slightly inclined to Option 1. Albeit, Option 3 sounds interesting as well as it practically makes you a very solid survivor. What are your thoughts?

The single most notable thing that pushed me to play as a Sylvari is the outstanding manner of speech. From the accent to the choice of words, I find Sylvari very intriguing.

[Tarnished Coast] Necro Minion Master Seeks RP Guild

Lazuline.3876

Hi there Mithion. Good day to you. Our guild, the Order of Providence, can offer you what you are looking for. We are small group of friends and strangers who banded together to do two main things:

a.) RP in PVE. This spans from saving a little girl from bandits to fighting on the frontlines of Orr.

b.) World vs World. The Order notes that Zhaitan, Bandits, Centaurs, and other minions are not the only threat. Therefore, we also move to fight on behalf of our world and to prevent invaders from taking her over.

That being said, the only things that I would like to flag for your consideration is that we are small guild.

That aside, we’re also based in Darkhaven. Currently, free transfers are available so the second one might be non-issue unless you’re heavily invested already in Tarnished Coast. Anyway, these are what we have to offer. If we were able to peak your interest even by a bit, please feel free to contact me.

Cheers!

Starting first character as Necro

in Necromancer

Posted by: Lazuline.3876

Lazuline.3876

Hey there! My first character is a necromancer and I have been playing the class since the earlier betas. Right now, I’m at level 80 and I can personally assure you that you’ll enjoy the class.

For professions, I took tailoring since it fits the armor requirements but that aside, tailoring bags can become a very profitable business. Once you get it high enough, you can make quite a good fortune for yourself selling bags on the trading post.

As for builds & skills, I generally run 2 builds depending on what I feel like doing. For both builds, I use Staff as main and Scepter/Warhorn Combination. The staff is generally because I find marks to be a very effective and likewise, the range ensures that you can keep kiting the enemies as needed. Scepter gives you bleeding, a mass cripple, and a burst spell dependent on the number of conditions on the mob. Warhorns give you a daze on demand skill and a swiftness on self plus cripple on enemies buff (always useful).

Build 1: Minion Master

http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fQAQNBmWDbkQrVvWzXjePBI94aqneSx3gDp4WpB

The first is an all out Minion Master build. Despite what people say about minions being stupid, a little maneuvering can help make them work. Albeit, they remain stupid unless this is done. I generally find this build to be fun as it makes you quite tanky while having enough utility and dps from minions to give you a fun experience in PVE.

Build 2: Wells + Plague

http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fQAQNBmWDbESrSPTTUjfPBM9g8xFHSxt6Gpo4hB

This build I run when I feel like playing with zoning and generally having great utility. With this, you have 25 seconds of damage negation with blindness + chill combination, great self and AoE heals, mass AoE DPS and AoE conditions, and with death shroud, almost a guarantee that you should not die unless you really found yourself in a bad spot. With this build, I can generally solo numerous mobs in the end game zones and I find that this build is very useful to parties for dungeon raiding as well (in dungeons, minions tend to lose effectiveness quickly due to being one-shotted.)

Anyway, I hope you have fun and welcome to the ranks of the Necromancer!

Actually, I think we can zone in on the melee minions that are severely affected by this bug. The Bone Fiend, Blood Fiend, and the Flesh Wurm attack just fine. In fact, because they’re the only ones attacking, I almost always see a dead Bone Fiend during battle because it has all the aggro. In contrast, my Flesh Golem is typically just there at full health staring at the sun.

Flesh Golem & Necromancer Traits

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Lazuline.3876

Lazuline.3876

Hi All. I just wanted to ask if anyone else experiences a bug with the Summon Flesh Golem Elite Skill & the Necromancer Traits (Cooldown Reduction, Minion Health, and Minion Damage)?

I’ve equipped these traits but they do not seem to affect my Flesh Golem. This is most apparent with the Cooldown Reduction trait. Supposedly, it should reduce the cooldown from 60s to 48s (20% CD Reduction). But each time my Flesh Golem dies, it goes on that full 60s CD. Every other minion works fine except him. Unfortunately, he’s the guy I want alive most often and that extra 12s can be the difference between life & death for me as a minion master. Of course, I’ve been trying to test out if the other traits worked (Minion Health/Minion Damage/Life Siphon/Minion Explosion) but these are more difficult to test as I do not know of a way, for instance, to see numerical HP stats instead of just a bar. Of course, I tried to test it out in the field but these are inconclusive. So I’ll just flag it for now.

That being said, I checked all the other notes but I don’t see any discussion on skills & traits so I wanted to post it here in case it hasn’t been brought to ANET’s attention. Thank you.
