Any possible technical issues aside, I have no idea why the current system has to erase all fields when you put through an order. By simply saving this data (even just until the TP tab is closed) it would limit a lot of frustration – especially as inputting the same digits repeatedly increases the probability of some very painfully expensive purchases.
I’d like to here an official response on this issue. I wouldn’t be surprised if this issue is more complicated than it seems.
Oh while we’re at it – sorry that this is completely off topic – I browse the forums often but rarely post – it’s so frustrating that logging in when I want to post takes me straight back to the main page disabling the back page haha.
I think there is a problem with this community.
I’m going to keep this sort and sweet. The community can not stop people from spending cash on RNG items because the people who purchase these items do not come onto the forums until they have made the mistake.
Yes, the RNG topic has been done to death but the only thing worse than people buying these boxes are people placing the entire blame on the buyer. Yes, they shouldn’t have, and in this case he’s admitted that but putting 100% of the blame on him, you are all really not helping the fight against RNG boxes.
Keep the blame on whoever is deciding to use this exploitative mechanism. Yes, they are unlikely to stop if people keep giving them money but they are also unlikely to stop if everyone who falls for it gets all the blame.
Just to clarify, I have never and will never spend money on things like this.
ANET – make gem prices reflect chances of receiving the item – add a definite way to receive the item at a very high gem price – with RNG add a mechanism that ensures people will definitely get the item eventually (150 rich coffers is disgusting). – These boxes may be earners but they exploitative poison that does not fit in with the whole ethos of the game.
Ah, you beauty. Thank you.
Hi there,
I used to play a lot of spvp and had many tickets stored in my bank. I guess I missed the update saying they needed to be traded on. Checked in my bank and they have gone. Has anyone else had this issue or am I being an idiot?
Thanks!
Unfortunately all weapons are soulbound and my main is full exo in every set i need. If it was account bound at least I could use them to gear my alts.
I haven’t heard much on the topic of this recently so I was just wondering if anyone had figured anything out. I have 50k left, I’ve made my peace with the poor way this whole thing was handled. Hopefully it’s a learning experience for Anet (although lack of forthrightness does suggest otherwise).
I just want to feel like I got something out of it. If nothing else please just let me give it to my guild mates so at least they can get the benefit of the gathering tools. The idea of destroying something that costs me all my gold is quite crippling lol.
Any else in the forum found a way to deal with this or did they just bite the bullet and destroy them all?
Thanks
Edit: sorry the title sounded like I had a solution, I didn’t realise until I made it.
Ha that’s insane. I didn’t even think of that. Ah well I guess I can deal with that then. Thanks for pointing out my stupidity (genuinely).
:)
I have about 50k left. Just to clarify I got these while keys were available and was intending to spend them on keys before lyns was disabled without warning (even after they had said she wouldn’t be). I don’t have any gold in game because of this unfortunate investment.
I really don’t mind that the keys were disabled but it is a bit strange that there is literally no use for over 1-2k commendations (even though donating 3 exotic trinkets would net you 4k alone).
My subsequent problem is that they have left no alternative to simply destroying something we have spent gold on. This whole thing is a bit ridiculous in the first place but I would be able to accept it if there was just some way I could feel like I’m at least getting something for my gold input. They might as well have just taken 100g straight from my bank.
All weapons are soulbound so I can’t even kit my alts. There are only so many tools you can buy before it becomes ridiculous and too space consuming. Weapons can’t be mystic forged, salvaged or sold to a vendor.
I have a feeling that because only a handful of us got stuck with this that it probably isn’t a big deal for Anet to address. I hope that isn’t the case. Or if they think we are at fault in some way for getting these commendations, can we at least be told why?
I’m in a rush so sorry if this didn’t make that much sense. Thanks for reading my ramblings.
Hey there,
I’ve had 20 slot bags for a while from fractals/karka event but since I’ve gotten them the compact option has been bugged and only compacts some parts. Here is a couple of screen shots with and without bags hidden, respectively.
I’ve made a report in game when it first happened when fractals began but it hasn’t been addressed. I realise I’m sure there are bigger bugs out there but it’s amazing how much this can annoy me lol.
Thank you.
Looks like I’m in a similar position to Unspecified. I’m disappointed but understand that the BLC keys were hurting their sales. I think the fact that I’m not on very often any more has softened the blow.
It’s all still not good the way this was handled. The only comment given about this before was that Lyns would still be here through Wintersday which was massively misguiding. The ability to exchance then removed without warning. No comment given besides she will be back eventually.
Meh, whatever. I hope she has “restocked” with at least something useful to me. Like unspecified said, there’s only so many picks we can carry lol.
Lolipok, you might want to reread plasmacutter’s post before you throw out insults. It’s shocking that he replied so magnanimously.
“I need higher stats because I can’t beat the infinite dungeon” is so absurd it actually made me laugh.
A lottery usually maintains it’s prize. Selling tickets for a prize that no longer exists without letting people know through conventually means (patch update notes) is really not cool and I feel for the OP.
If money isn’t an issue I am surprised you’re going for magic find at all. Why not just spend money on items you want and will benefit your gameplay rather than ones that will save you money and make your character weaker/squishier. Genuine question.
On the question at hand, it is hard to quantify a worth while investment when money is not an option but with full exo you’d be getting something around 119% mf before buffs/food. If you’re just interested in getting loot in an efficient manner, this is effective and shouldn’t hinder you massively but you must realise that for extremely rare items, it will not help much in the short term. Having twice as much chance to receive an incredibly rare item with a drop rate of 0.00005, is only 0.0001.
Personally I like playing with optimized characters that don’t hinder the party I’m in so the only MF I ever run with is via food. However exceptions include when I used to karma grind in Orr (didn’t last long – got very bored), or when I am helping people with low level fractals.
OP: Not everyone gets jumping puzzles. The first JP I tried was the one for Halloween and I was pretty sure I was going to go insane. For that one I found the problem was that some parts weren’t intuitive and in places played on the awkward blocky movements and pathing issues to throw players off. However after watching a couple of videos online of people doing it online it was just a matter of watching each section and nailing it. After a short while I’d consistently get onto the next section. And at about halfway It got a lot easier.
In this JP, I found after you get past the first part (snowflake section) the rest is a fair bit easier or at least no harder, so your aim should be just to try consistently get past that bit. I do recommend watching a youtube video. Personally it didn’t show me anything special but it did make me a lot more confident that I was doing it correctly at my speed was about the same as the person I saw. This allowed me not to make stupid mistakes because I was panicking about the time limit.
Try to understand that it needs to be at a certain difficulty in order for it to be enjoyable for everyone. Once you nail this JP (and you will if you take some time to look at videos) and you get the massive satisfaction of doing so, I guarantee that you will be very disappointed if they make it easier next time. If I hadn’t completed the Halloween JP first, this would have taken me days (as the first one did).
Good luck to you.
1. or 2. are most likely. Although it’s a bit annoying that I had 50k commendations ready to exchange the day it was declared it would be out of commission, I can understand why. Personally, I think giving us a day warning about it going rather than giving the misleading statement seemingly implying that exchanges would remain over Wintersday would have been the classy thing to do but I still understand.
I’m not whining or complaining about this because, frankly, this is a relatively small issue (even if it will possibly make me poor with no benefit ha – maybe I should have had more foresight). I do find it surprising that people are having a go at the skeptics. Fair enough that we have to wait and find out what’s really going on but it doesn’t take much to make an educated guess at what’s going to happen. Maybe these forums would have less people complaining about the “whiners” if they themselves had anything invested in the decisions that were taking place.
I don’t know, maybe I’m just thinking out loud.
Anyway, I’m just going to hide away my commendations in storage and keep checking for news. Apart from a couple of hiccups, Wintersday has been very enjoyable for me. Good job Anet, I’m sure you’re taking in to account what the community thinks and for that I’m sure events will keep getting better and better. Keep it up.
Hopefully with BL Keys but I’m starting to doubt it. I’ve got a feeling I’m going to be pretty devastated when my 50k commendations can only be spent on 10k gathering equipment lol.
I agree that the ugly presents for stuffing/glue is a very solution. That way they will still have a bottom price limit so it will never become worthless. Another solution could be to add them as daily rewards to things like the JP. Something like that wouldn’t flood the market and would allow those who have been most unfortunate to give it another stab without breaking the bank.
Either way, for the sake of those left behind, I hope something is implemented to keep these people happy. It’s Wintersday eve kitten
I don’t quite see how anyone has a problem with implementing a way for people to receive more stuffing and glue. By making it a limited supply (which they have done: the chances of getting enough for anything via boxes is insanely low) and using RNG as a means of using the materials some people have received no endless tonics or minis this wintersday. I see your saying that its a gamble and that they should have known but I don’t know one person who didn’t take this gamble so they can hardly be blamed especially when they would be expected the succeed in on average 3/4 tries.
The forces of supply and demand on these items have been heavily influenced by those who could afford to buy a lot of stock when they were cheap to hold it ransom at high prices against those unfortunate souls that RNG did not favour. Personally I bought a lot of stacks of both resources when it was cheap, I didn’t buy it to make a profit, I just simply had enough money and thought I may need it. When the prices skyrocketed I sold a few stacks but after seeing that so many people, especially the newer poorer players were the victim of RNG, I gave the rest away hoping that they would get the item they wanted, that most others seemed to get easily.
I have plenty of gold in this game and I’m starting to feel terrible that I’ve done most of it through trading. I would much rather play a game that doesn’t make it feel necessary to take advantage of these unlucky people, something that it sounds a lot of people feel quite proud of.
tl;dr: Community: be nice. Anet: maybe try to consider how holiday material implementation may be abused your self made greedy community.
You may want to post this in the bug forum. Also open open a ticket with support. Good luck, sorry I can’t be more help.
I appreciate this as a step in the right direction. I was pretty much certain Anet had allowed this BLC bug on purpose and wouldn’t compensate people for what they missed out on but I am happy to be shown otherwise. Hopefully at some point BLC will contain more useful items and a higher proportion of the already useful items but with people buying hundreds and only then complaining about it despite the plethora of threads about the uselessness of the chests/keys, I fear this will never happen. Hopefully Anet will decide to show appreciation for those who decide to further support them monetarily (while of course taking in consideration that those who don’t should not feel majorly disadvantaged).
I look forward to seeing how this is dealt with.
Kind regards.
Those are some very good points Naoko. I hadn’t really thought about it but I think you are right. I guess a large amount of emphasis for collectors (at least myself) goes on the eventual value the collectibles will appreciate to. If you make the items account bound, there is no value. This has cleared my thoughts on the topic, thank you.
I’ve got a sneaky feeling that although there is a chance for higher gold from the bags it is extremely unlikely as well. Unlike everything else in the game whereby when a variance between # and # is stated, all numbers in between are equally likely, it doesn’t seem to be the case here from online testimonies. Personally I got 6 bags, averaging 4s and no more than 8s from a single bag.
If this is the case, it is pretty bad not to state it publicly, although they could behind the fact that they did not necessarily state the odds and we simply assumed them.
Could we get a statement on this possibly added to the patch notes? I think people would be happier receiving what they expect when the purchase the keys even if it is less than what they currently believe.
Thank you.
I saw this, reported it and didn’t take advantage. I guess I’ve learned my lesson. Hate the world.
Ha good impression of an ultimate emo atomic.
There are literally thousands of items on the TP that are selling for 1c above base. Currently there is almost 1mil surplus of hardwood, it has never reached 27c and that was at the start of the game. More recently its top spike was 16c. It just doesn’t seem like a good venture. I’ll explain this more later, I’m a little pressed for time. OP says he is trying to help but has given absolutely no warning to people about the dangers of trading, what to expect and the ridiculous amount of storage space required that will probably be taken for a long long time. He also says he’ll be doing this every week, if there is no patch that includes this item, the only way it will go up in price is if people read what he says and buys all of the stock to drive prices. He is setting a time limit so he can make money quickly each week.
Of course the item will increase in price eventually, everything goes through ups and downs. It’s not about making a profit, it’s about making consistent profit without taking up your entire storage space. If you’re going to put all your eggs in one basket it’s should be one hell of a fool proof basket. Personally, when I started making a bit more gold, I decided to have many baskets, all of which i track with the watchlist on GW2spidy. Most weeks one will fluctuate and I can decide whether to cash out or ride the increase a little further. Sometimes you get really lucky and hit the jackpot. This method of trading allows me to still play every aspect of the game not completely encumbered with crap items and not scared that my one item will never increase in price. Sorry for the poorly written message, I really have to shoot. Get in touch if you Crash, I’ll be happy to go over what I know. Maybe while going through a dungeon or something. They should really make cafés in this game ha.
Crash, sincerely, tips given on this forum particularly without absolutely sound justification is just as it seems. They benefit from masses of people believing in what they’ve said leaving said people in the dust with useless stock. Sometimes you do get people trying to help, these are usually flippers basing the info given on margins between current by and sell prices. If you’d like some info on earning through the tp, i’d be happy to tell you what I’m currently doing privately, to my disadvantage rather than tell the world to my advantage after I’ve stocked up.
Pump and dump.
If you’ve made hundreds of gold in the market and really don’t understand this term I’d be surprised. If you do, which you most likely do, you are clearly trying to earn more by inflating prices through this medium at which point you will dump your own stock destroying the market for the majority of the people your ‘helping’. If I was more of a kitten, I’d be doing this too, but more effectively.
Transmuting a precursor is the ballsiest/stupidest thing I’ve heard in ages. Nonetheless, I hope you haven’t lost it. Good luck.
I’d like to see an official response to this. Just need to know if it is a bug. A lot of people have been reporting this.
Thanks
There should be a rep system for posters on this forum. Would be so useful for newer players especially on this minefield of a subforum.
I love how people are trying to sound impartial, supporting RNG but not realising it’s because it’s been in their favour or at least not completely wasted their time. No system should be truly random. Everything needs parameters in order to be fun and I’m hoping from what Anet staff are implying that they are finally coming around to this conclusion. Since fractals, almost everyone in my guild has left the game, the odd few occasionally coming in to do an ori run or check the markets. All of which have a sour taste in their mouth. I’ve gotta say, despite getting mostly what I wanted from Fractals, I am one of them; it’s just a terrible system that should have been corrected a lot sooner. I hope whatever you do next is enough to bring these people back and any future “updates” are released with more input from the community (weighted most to those with logical ideas rather than the masses of the biased idiots).
Hey guys,
Sorry if this is in the wrong sub-forum but does anyone know when the commendation merchant will disappear. Don’t want to end up holding loads of useless commendations with no where to spend them.
Kind regards,
S
Ah I see, good to know. Cheers guys.
Hi guys,
Just an idea, because of the massive difference in tokens needed to get exotic weapons, couldn’t we just get the get the rare ones for 25 tokens and use transformation over a level 80 exotic? That way we would get the stats we want and it would probably be cheaper.
Just a thought. Anyone tried this?

Incident: 120918-005923
I am getting tired of explaining my situation.
Over 3k gems disappeared now 3 weeks ago. No illegal account access. No purchases. Originally submitted 18/09/2012.
After a week of useless support I was told that they have no power to help me and that I should post on the suggestion forum.
After 10 days of comments from many players who also find GW support utterly disgusting, I finally get a response from someone official. At which point I am condescended and insulted for being naive enough to post on a suggestion forum when clearly I should have gone to the accounts forum. Just to clarify, it wasn’t to ‘make myself feel better’, I was told to post there by your own support team, which you would have known if you read the thread which included the correspondence.
So now I’m here. Posting the same problem, to the same people. I think I must be insane to imagine that this will lead to a different result.
Let me know if there is any more information you need.

Thank you for all your replies. I really do appreciate it.
A petition sounds like a smart move to raise awareness of the more and more frequent cases of ridiculous customer support I have recently been hearing from people. However I would not know where to start.
All I wanted was my gems back, but now I’d even accept a public apology and a reason why they have no power. Maybe even a promise that they will show more ‘support’ in future incidences for other players.
I feel like anymore I see will just go around in circles. This is a terrible organisation.

Sorry to butt in on another thread but due to a lack of official acknowledgement (but plenty of sympathy from players) on a thread I created last week, I thought I may as well see if this thread can help me.
My account was not hacked. It was the victim of a bug missed by the devs causing me to lose over 3k gems. I’m not that rich in game. I spent all my time since I got it trading anything I had for gems in the hopes that they would appreciate in value. This took me almost 100 hours from the start of no crafting etc just to save enough gold fast enough. Then one day it just said I have 0 gems left; no purchase record, no transfer, no illegal account log in.
GW support sent me in circles for days eventually saying that they don’t have the power to do anything so they send me to the suggestion forum because apparently regardless of a bug they can’t do anything (I’m glad I abstained from putting real money in, although I was planning to). So I left a thread a week ago that has been getting player comments most days, all disgusted that this kind of thing can happen. Moreover, that I am shown no official sympathy or even acknowledgement of my problem. Instead I’m left every day checking my emails and these forums hoping I would at least receive a message saying “sorry but we aren’t going to help because…”. To be honest right now, that’s all I want. A public acceptance of fault so that at least people will know not to waste their time looking for help as I have. Of course, a solution that restores what was stolen from me would be ideal but from what I hear on this forum, the new service that will probably never even be released won’t even help me. How can you people have so little control over your own game? I guess as you already have our money, you really don’t need to help us.
For anyone interested, here is a link to the aforementioned thread.

If you could possibly leave a comment I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe someone with some power will eventually read it.
Thank you.

Come on guys, can’t I get a single official response to this?
I’ve gotta say, the worse service is definitely no service. Your own support team is sending me here because they have no power and now from here no one even reads what I say. I guess you’ve already made your sales so why should you need to keep your product in acceptable condition or even relate to the buyers of an unmaintained product.

It’s a nice thought but they seem quite committed to not giving me anything unfortunately. We’ll see when they eventually respond in this thread.

I agree. If any official representative could at least confirm that they have read and understood my problem I’d be appreciative. Right now it just feels like tech support are sending me in circles giving me no real opinion because they just can’t be bothered to deal with it. I have seen a lot of other threads get official responses and I feel this issue deserves to be addressed as well.

When I accused them of having records of my incident but not helping, they didn’t disagree. I see what you’re saying but another thing, it seemed like they were going to reimburse me if I had paid with card. But then I guess then I have further proof on my side.
If it is the case they can’t even track gems (which just sounds too unbelievable to me) firstly, they should acknowledge that fact, fix the bloody problem and at least show some kind of sympathy to those that have lost gems prior to that announcements.
Basically so far all I can read into their ‘support’ is “unlucky, get lost”. They have shown no intention of making the situation better for me, or for anyone else that will inevitably fall into the same situation. Also I can’t imagine too many people have falsely claimed a loss of gems. I mean, it would be like people claiming that they have had their character deleted, you would imagine that they would have records of these things.

Thanks for the support guys. I agree with what you’ve said: they more than likely have the capability to do so but someone higher up has not given GMs authority to give gems back. It’s not a technical problem at all.
The only problem now is, who in development actually cares? What am I supposed to do now? I feel like I’ve lost a lot of motivation to play this game which is pretty crap as I really enjoy it.
Does anyone that can fix this even visit the forums or is this all futile?
A lot of people I know now won’t buy gems unless this happens. Maybe I should spread the word a little further to my guild or something and see if we can make a change it policy.
What do you think?

Customer By Web Form
This morning I had 3300 gems. Now I have none. No record of any purchases and no changes in my other currencies.
Thank you.
Customer By Email
I bought more while prices are low and once again they’ve disappeared.
Customer By Web Form
Bought another 400 gems.
So total: 3300 + 130 = 3430 gems have disappeared. However the 400 still remain.
Thank you.

As gems are non transferable, the problem is not my account security. I am also using a different account name and email from what I have ever used online before.
I am a bit confused. Are you saying that there is no way of getting it back. Or are you saying this is simply the wrong department I am messaging? If the latter, who should I direct this to and would it just be easier if I called someone up. I’d really like to get this sorted as soon as possible.
Thank you.

I’m sorry but I’ve just lost the equivalent of 35 pounds of your product through no fault of my own. You must be able to see that this is caused by a bug.
Presumably you would be able to reimburse the gems if I had paid real money, so why can it not be the case if the cause is exactly the same. Clearly this isn’t because of any ‘limitations’ besides a technical loophole. I’ve spent the better part of a month playing this game and every bit of monetary progress has gone into collecting gems (which can be bought for real money). For you to be aware that the gems have disappeared due to your own fault but not be able reimburse me is absolutely ridiculous.

Hello,
Thanks a lot for taking the time to suggest this to us. We really appreciate it. The best way to have your feedback or suggestions for Guild Wars 2 reach someone in development is to post it on our official forums under the suggestions sub-forum. The more people who view and comment on it, the more likely developers will take notice.

Hi,
I have been emailing Guild Wars 2 support for the last week because all of my gems disappeared for no reason (nothing to do with account hacking). Even though the staff can see that the disappearance of my gems is their fault, they refuse to reimburse me due to the “limitation of their tools”.
Since I got this game I have been investing everything I have into gems. I had over 3k. The idea that a company can allow them to just disappear without any kind of compensation is disgusting. What’s to say next time you don’t delete my character next time. You might as well have.
Sorry if this is coming across quite aggressive but this whole thing is pretty despicable.
Here is my email correspondence with GW2 support as it requires a little more information:
I’ve left an ingame bug report but due to the protocol of not responding, I thought it best to leave a message on here too.
Well, the name says it all. This morning I had 3300 gems, now I have none. I didn’t but anything and I have no new items. I thought it might just be the auction house display that was incorrect but I was also unable to convert anything into gold so yeah. Please help
