The market value prices are artificial at the moment. You won’t find any of the high end gear at a fair price at the moment. If you want to sell something for 25g, you automatically have to jack up the price on the TP to around 31g just to get the 25g. This currently screws over the buyers more than the sellers.

You have to remember that those items are exceddingly expensive due to a bunch of people capitalizing on the market, exploiting some bugs and getting a couple of thousand gold early on.
Actually they are extremely expensive due to how they are crafted. It takes 4 exotics weapons of the same type to even have a small chance at getting one of these base weapons. It takes around 12g to have a tiny chance at one of these weapons. If it wasn’t so much gambling involved for them, prices would be a lot less.
They need offhand swords and also the ability to bump forum threads. Apparently mods delete self bumps for threads because it’s against the rules, but it is impossible to bump your threads from page 20…
You get a ridiculous amount for completing the high level zones. Just from completing Cursed Shores, you can get like 7 gold in Exotics, crafting supplies and the cash reward.
High end items will always be high priced, because the small items used to make them cost a lot in total. Take the Exotics used to make Legendary weapons. I see one going for 188g, which is understandable considering the extremely small chance of getting one and the fact that exotics cost several gold each. Just to list it, it would cost you over 5g. You will also lose about 28g if you do end up selling it. They really need a trading system like they had in the original Guild Wars.
In fact the listing fee will force people to overprice said items just to break even or make a profit from getting them. An item costs 25g to make? Just to break even, you would need to list it for over 30g. This screws over the buyer as they have to dish out a lot more for items.

Quite frankly I miss the old trading system of Guild Wars. I don’t know why they didn’t add it in the first place. The Trading Post is mainly used to sell bulk or cheap items easily, so it’s understandable to have a tax even just purely for the convenience. Once players start hitting higher levels and stop being interested in crafts and low level gear, they will be going for the high end ones.
Unless something is done, all prices for those items will rise a lot and do the opposite of what Arenanet wanted. People will have to sell higher end items for a lot more gold just to get a profit. Take the base items for the Legendary weapons. 188 gold or so from looks of some of the prices. It costs the player 5 gold to place it on sale and then a 28 gold tax on selling it. If I got one from the Mystic Forge, I wouldn’t even be able to put it up on sale.
We really need an actual trading menu system up in this game. The Trading Post is fine for lower priced items, but when you hit the higher end gear; it becomes too much of a drain on profits to sell it on the TP.
Take destroyer weapons as an example. The usual goes for around 30 gold. Just to put it up, it costs 1.5 gold. The 15% sales tax they take is around 4.5 gold. That’s a total of 6 gold lost. I’m up for gold sinks regulating the economy, but that is just ridonkulous.

If you’re doing trades via mail and the other person scams you, do you get the item back if you report them for scamming? I’m asking this because some of the higher priced items are ridiculous to sell on the Trading Post as the tax and posting price take a bunch of gold off the actual sale.
Or you can also add a password for the guild vault as an option.
I think the title pretty much sums it up. I think letting siege weapons be built in the WvW jump puzzles is just ridiculous. Places like in the giant well if they put arrowcarts up top, it’s pretty much impossible to get up as it spans the whole well.
I have checked and there are none. It still crashes when I try to run the -repair for the game.

My game seems to freeze at random times. The music continues, but the game stops completely and is not responding. I tried to re-install twice. Once off my disk and once off the website. There is nothing running in the background, I made sure via MSConfig. I have also tried to repair, but it seems the repair crashes as well giving me this bug report. Don’t know where to put this apart from here since there are no forums suggestions. There really needs to be a bump option for threads. Apparently it’s against the rules to post bumps for your threads and there is no way anyone will ever see your thread if it’s pushed back to page 20. Give us bumps or let us bump our threads by posting a message.
Sapphire AMD radeon 6900 series, 60+ FPS in WvW. Seems you might have overpaid for a graphics card considering mine runs any games out there at maximum settings without any lag and always at high FPS.
I spent a day in WvW and made 40k karma. Also do you realize that stat wise, the Karma gear and gear you craft is the exact same thing? The only thing you are going for is the skin.
Anyone got more ideas?

The thing is I don’t want them to completely change the dungeons. They should still have the same story line and everything. What needs to be changed is the path through the story line so we can’t anticipate what happens each time, to make it more interesting.
They indeed could. So far I’ve only actually done 3 dungeons, being Arah, CoF and TA. Feel free to post ideas for other dungeons as well. =)

Hoping some devs see this and get some ideas. This would be awesome and would get so many people to start doing dungeons for fun and not just gear.
Anti-grind means striving to eliminate grinding completely. This can easily be achieved in dungeons by making them dynamic. Make the same storylines of the paths, but make some dynamic events that change nearly each run.
It’s really just kinda ridiculous how anyone could worry about a game being “grindy” when the grind is self-imposed. You want the gear skins? You can get them – by grinding. You won’t be any worse off than some other guy that got his exotic gear some other way.
Maybe this is more of an issue with the fact that exotic gear (the power plateau) is too hard to obtain. People feel obligated to grind the dungeons so that they can get the exotic gear because other ways to get it are too hard? Maybe. The point is that if you have all exotic gear, there is absolutely NO reason why you should subject yourself to something that you consider “grindy”. You don’t have to. Why anyone would feel as though they have any business making suggestions – or much less DEMANDS – on what the dungeons should be like is just absurd.
It’s actually not absurd. There are many ways to make dungeons require a bunch of runs and make it fun and non-grindy at the same time. All they have to do is make certain aspects of the dungeons dynamic like they do for the rest of the game. I don’t see why it’s absurd for customers to make suggestions. Seems like your whole sentence there is what is absurd.

I’d actually be interested in seeing what parts of dungeons people would like to have spiced up. I haven’t done every dungeon yet, but I’m pretty sure many parts of them can get boring after the first few runs.
Seems to me like this would be the only way to make it fun and non-grindy, but still keep a level of difficulty.
Another solution is to make the paths in the dungeons more dynamic by adding different random events during each path while still holding to the story.

Well you certainly sound like the credible source after all. Let’s all move to pvp and forget about the ridiculous depth of content elsewhere because some uninformed raging fool comes on the forums and cries because they had absurd expectations of what lack of grind is. Anet has said that you don’t have to grind in their game, and you do not. They’ve not said that there is no grind anywhere, if that were the case I shudder at what kind of pathetic 48hr single player game we would have instead of an MMO.
I sincerely hope you enjoy your time playing this joke of a game, or at least the PvP. As it turns out, it’s probably there for people like you, as shocking as that is. Not everyone wants to play the game you envision, I guess that’s why Anet designed it though.
You don’t have to grind in their game. You don’t have to grind in any MMO. “Hey guys, play our MMO. We’re different because you don’t have to grind if you don’t feel like it, but we still do have lots of grinding in the game. You just don’t have to grind at all; unless you want the gear. Good luck if you do.”
Guild Wars was meant to be a change from the usual grindy MMO. Many aspects of the game accomplished that from holding areas of a zone against invaders to randomly spawning material nodes that require you to search areas.
One of the aspects of the game that does not follow this is dungeons. Sure, many players have fun doing them for the first time. There are multiple options to try out. The problem is that these options never change. Most of the player base do these dungeons to grind out the rewards. That is inevitable. If you give a nice enough reward, people will go for it. One way to make it not a grind is to make it more fun and to do that you need to make it dynamic.
Make the paths you choose have a storyline like they do now, but make it so the events during said path are different most times. Take for example CoF. One of the parts you need to run the Asura, Magg, through a lava area. It’s the same thing every time. Why not make it so that some times a Champion Lava Elemental rises from the lava and tries to stop you? Or at other times the rocks in the lava spawn in a kind of jump puzzle that you all need to work together with the waterguns to get through?
Take Twilight Arbor as another example. One part of a path is to defeat an evil nightmare tree. Instead of making it 10 minutes of ranging it to death and evading one AoE attack, why not make it more dynamic? One time something goes wrong with the merge between the Sylvari and the tree and it starts spewing extremely toxic poison everywhere and you must stay within a shield cast by your Sylvari companion and you must take out tendrils coming from it to damage it.
You can come up with many variations to make dungeons more fun by making them dynamic. I hope you guys at Arenanet do come up with something like this.
Most people do it for the gear. You’re going to have to face that fact. You’re also going to have to realize that the majority of the player base that plays this who does it for the gear doesn’t enjoy going through the same thing over and over again. It is not dynamic like many other aspects of the game. It is the same thing every time, over and over again.

My rogue took over a year’s worth of farming Molten Core just to get my pair of Nightslayer shoulders. But actually, I enjoyed every bit of it because I didn’t make getting the gear my sole purpose for playing the game. But the point is…putting in time and work for gear is nothing new.

The explorables are designed for competent, well organized groups. They arent ment to be puggable and has been stated as far back as last Nov that the dungeons were GW2 answer to raids and raiders. It makes me ecstatic that Anet isn’t caving in to the screams like other games and keeping with their design.
Want to do explorables? Get a group that works well together with a bit of coordination and get better at the game. Boom. Explores done.
No one even mentioned explorable mode in this thread. I had the same exact experience in STORY mode and I highly doubt OP is playing playing explorer mode on his first run as a lvl 30.
If that’s the case, then you have a lot of work to do. Get better, instead of becoming one of the rabble that are littering these forums.
Does getting better stop NPCs from the missions from running into lava and constantly dying? I wish I was so l33t that I could fix broken coding with my awesomeness. =) Seriously though, some of the aspects of dungeons are so broken that they are either luck based or you need to suicide 50 times to get it done.

Because Citadel of Flame is not a dungeon and that is not what we were discussing. While we’re at it let’s start talking about how delicious apples are. How’s that for a completely different subject?
We tried something similar but every time Magg died by running like an idiot into the lava, the monsters would simply respawn. Basically you eventually lucked out and got through?
Near impossible, luck based content seems to be popular among MMOs these days. Reminds of of Final Fantasy XI’s Neo-Nyzul where if you see anyone wearing the armor from it, you know that 99% of the time they used exploits.

I should be asking you that question since you cannot seem to tell the difference. Although I’m pretty sure a 13 year old would be able to tell that 500>1.
One person enjoying the game or 500 people who don’t. According to my supercomputer which I use to do complex math the 500 people seems to be more than the 1 who said they enjoy themselves.
The only trouble I have is with CoF since I haven’t done any of the other dungeons since the update. Tried the usual Magg run which they seem to have made impossible. Midget runs into lava, dies, can’t resurrect him since the 4000+ damage the lava hits for is kind of more than the 600 we heal him for. You can’t even really control his path, since he decides to run at the closest enemy which keeps respawning.
Right, seems like me and the 500 other people complaining about this don’t have valid points. Go be l33t somewhere else please, your superiority complex is showing.
If the average player cannot do it and only the pros can, this goes against what Arenanet said before about this game being for everyone. Of course a pro like you wouldn’t care about the people beneath you.
The only thing I’m doing it for is the armor skins. Other people will be doing it for the Gifts needed for legendaries. Right now craftable gear looks like trash. The only good looking armor is from dungeons or the tier 3 cultural armor. Basically it’s grind dungeons for weeks or spend 100 gold for a new skin.
This person can do something 500 other people can’t do. Hence the uproar on the forums. He must be some kind of wizard.
