GW2 female armour: skimpy or not?
- I prefer skimpy armour and want more choices of it.
- I prefer skimpy armour, but options are enough and we could go for non-skimpy ones now.
- Everything is fine and we have enough options for both.
- I prefer non-skimpy armour, but options are enough and we could go for skimpy ones now.

Basically interested in stats, at least the ones from the forum sample.
Please try to keep it civil, as I would be happy to see some solid numbers on the poll before this thread derails and gets personal, which unfortunately happens in threads on the subject.
Thank you.
EDIT: Here’s a good armour gallery in case anyone’s interested, by the way.
i voted 1 because im a human female warrior, and that’s like the epitome of fantasy. the less armor she wears, the more protected she is, in harsh weather, the thick of battle, et all!
im a warrior by trade, i was just looking for something “different” with decent damage
so i dont have a magic class leveled, and my necro and ele just hit 50, which should i take to 80?
i find the constant spell combos of ele to be a blast, but find how glassy it is to be a huge turn off.
on the flipside, i feel like an m1 abrams on necro, handling and dealing out constant pain, which is a major plus, yet the gameplay is rather uninspiring.
what do you find more fun and why should i 80 it?
Is this true? I always thought warriors were higher in dps and Eles are higher than warriors. How are guardians higher?
they arent, guardians arent made for damage, and have no utility to sustain it, notice how all the “guardians #1” posters are using hypotheticals like “probably,” “maybe,” and “it’s possible.”
not real arguments, not real proof, just people who play guardians popping off conjecture
does anyone else feel like this is the wrong direction to take the game in? we burned a year on content that was incredibly disjointed until a random villain was thrown in, pulling a deus ex machina to conveniently be the driving force between all of them; only to reveal another dragon the community guessed ages before.
why dont we get more permanent content, or work on fixing what’s wrong with the game? it’s fairly obvious that anet wants to rid of the zerg mentality, with examples such as the removal of the beginner trains, tequatl, jungle wurm, and the recent boss blitz. why not start there? dungeons could use a complete overhaul to remove the reliance on high sustained damage, wall grouping, and other exploits to make dungeons quicker and or easier.
for a game so based on immersive lore, why havent we had any real updates on the actual plot, or an expansion, for taking on the other 5 dragons remaining. i mean, there is easily 5 expansions RIGHT there to start.
down with this bi weekly content, bring us something permanent we can enjoy that isnt just a generic fantasy issue such as racism and economic problems.
Disrupting the economy
Racial prejudice
Trahearne.Well if this is true its very, very disappointing news. Two of those things are low fantasy issues that are found in real life and the third is the return of a much hated character.
My god did they not learn anything from season 1?!?? Its time for the Sylvari to take a step back and not be in the limelight for a change. I have a sylvari character and I’m sick of my race being in the thick of it. Give us a break!
Also how about some high fantasy stories?! like a search for an ancient magical artifact, or strange and wondrous creatures terrorizing the land, or some mysterious figure of power that commands a legion of undead. A bunch of traders disrupting the economy is such a lame idea, followed by a social story of racial prejudice.
BOOOooooo so boring. And why not lets bring back Trahearne to really make it terrible.
so basically elona
I wouldn’t take this table as the absolute optimum, as it ignores “on-crit” procs and how that changes your dps. If you have air/fire/strength sigils, or run fresh air then your precision will have more value for you than listed in this table. Make sure you have “enough” crit. chance to quickly proc those things more reliably (remembering that you have pretty high fury uptime).
i see fresh air thrown around a lot, what does the build revolve around? im in the process of leveling the class and didnt quite get it
so for lightning hammer, should i be dropping my might stack combo, then drop it before fights?
thanks for your opinion, that sounds like it would work really well with what im looking for
i just read it, doesnt seem to fit what im looking for
please help me refine my build, i really like scep/dagger for might stacking in pve purposes, and this felt like it assisted with it really well. any refinement or advice would be appreciated.
TLDR:
pve ele
scep dagger
like might stacking/glass cannon
please state reasons on changes/why x skill is a bad choice
i really get sick of people quoting that stupid video from every little thing to ranger damage, to thieves, to everything else. that video was little less than an above average pug. in fact the speed came from the lessening of time between fights, not because thief > warrior.
just because they decided to take a thief or two, even the ranger does not make them inferior to the warrior. fact of the matter is, eyeballing it wont give any hard data whatsoever. unless we get real parsers for this stuff, the argument is moot.

You’re going to get a lot of “whatever looks good to you” comments here. But in my opinion go for Bolt, that way you can main hand it as well in the future if you wanted a change of look.
these are the kind of answers i enjoy, i really cant stand those vague “choose it yourself” answers when im asking for the opinions of others.
BOLT v MOOT
-im doing this based purely on aesthetics
-would be off hand to frostfang
-cost isnt an issue
-build / PVE usefulness is irrelevant
-which do you think is cooler, and why?
basically, i just finished the axe, and want to start on a cool offhand. it’s come down to bolt v moot, where the only different factor here for me is the time investment. should i purchase energizer while i have the funds, or keep saving for zap? once i have one, or the other, itll be the commited.
thanks for your opinions.
could we stick to the topic at hand rather than complain about other legendaries no one even makes?
im asking for it to be included in the make overs some are getting, not take priority. i honestly don’t care which others are lacking, as they aren’t the one i use. if i/people cared about seldom used magic weapons, and i actually had one, i would be tooting a different horn.
No offense, but frostfang should not be first.. Look the minstrel. It has a few notes popping out of it (Which bugs out all the time) so it has like no effects.
Frostfang has the hand in ice, footsteps, breathing ice and it moves. Its one of the better legendary, really..
you mention people hardly notice your frostfang… Its not like everyone say “Nice legendary” to you… That was the first month, now that legendaries are so normal, people just don’t think its so special anymore. I have incinerator and hardly anybody say something. I didnt make it to get seen, but to have a goal, simply
offhand weapons that are quite cheap and easier to make shouldnt be as nice as the main offensive ones in my opinion. of course, it could use a little work too, i’ll admit, but at the same time, both of them are no twilight, or bolt, or incinerator.
they dont get incredibly pretty, flashy effects. the ice arm is hardly a “cool” effect to me, as well. it’s just a suggestion, and one i think is needed in their legend update
The above post is correct. I run about with a flower bow on my charr warrior and it’s only on occasion that people ever say anything.
it isn’t “correct,” it’s just an opinion.
(edited by Lenn.6347)
shes no where near as flashy as some of her cousins, but as a modest girl, she could use a LITTLE day at the spa. in your big update, could she get a little touch up?

a few ideas:
-give it a growling/chattering noise when it’s idle, kind of like some of the special sound effects her brothers and sisters have
-give it special animations on some of warrior’s moves, like whirling axe, could turn blue and icy.
-make enemies who die by it have some kind of nasty chill or corrupted ice animation, kind of like when something gets hit by lightning, it gets an electrocution animation.
-make the breath animation more longer and more visible.
i’ve just made her, but people hardly notice her; something that takes a bit of work should be a bit more flashy, you know?
about sick and tired of every monster and it’s cousin having some kind of pull, stun, or knockdown. it’s not fun, it’s not challenging, it’s just god kitten ed annoying. stop this mindset, please, for the love of all things good, anet. seriously
really, OP? 12k hp is practically nothing, dying to a thief doesnt make them “imbalanced.”
what happened here is a classic “i died to something, thus it’s OP.” thief is far from balanced, all it has is it’s burst which could be easily shrugged off if you actually had real defense/hp.
you want to kitten about being broken, go complain on the ele forums. sick of whiners like OP complaining about things that arent even remotely broken.
1. thieves cant “spam” stealth, and if they even tried, it’s initiative heavy, leaving them incredibly open.
2. d/d is heavily countered by anything with just as much upfront damage, especially if they cant get close to you via rifle/longbow; chipping away at them first.
3. if you had one of the things that actually countered thief, such as a shield/mace off, or hammer, you wouldnt have had this problem.

this is my more defensive build, and it works wonders against d/d and s/d. its a dp build. lay down your blinding powder, and take the initiative against them in getting an opening back stab by hopping through the smoke with heart seeker a few times. if they get into the field to ruin your stealthing build up, utilizing dodges and or shadowstep + shadowshot, to be more defensive, or flat out face tanking the bad ones in the powder it self has seemed to work well for me against them.
jesus christ, that background music is ear drum shattering. can you load one where i dont have to listen to that awful noise?
15k+ hit using one button push with full zerkers and traited for damage is still over powered for any profession. Theres no logical argument against this.
these are obviously upleveled targets, with garbage armor. those numbers never realistically happen, and stupid threads like these only propagate such stupid rumors.
So basically what you’re telling me is. you don’t know how to play thief? I keep telling people to transfer to kaineng, or be crystal desert or yaks bend. I’ll gladly show the non-believers. As for recording, as i said. My laptop cant handle it.
calling your BS doesn’t have anything to do with my “knowledge or skill” of a fully geared thief of my own that never hits anywhere near that hard except on underleveled, low hp, jello shot builds.
a “normal” bs will hit anywhere from 3-7 depending on the target at 80. 16 on a full fledged, properly geared 80 is physically impossible without rigging the shot; which youve conveniently left your target out of.
dont insult people who call BS just because you have no real proof to back up your kitten thread
I don’t say this often.. Well quite frankly you will be the first I say this to. L2P.
the first sentence of this quote just goes to show how much you lack in the department of intelligence. physically impossible numbers have nothing to do with “skill,” “class knowledge,” or “learning how to play,” and you’d have to be a dolt to think it does.
the fact of the matter is, extremely rigged screenshots without your target, their conditions, your boons, and just a flat out number does not prove:
A. the target wasn’t upleveled
B. a low armor class to begin with
C. max might stacks
D. any form of vulnerability
i’ve been hit by many a number of fully geared thieves, none hitting any higher than 7, i’m one myself, i rarely see over 10, and if i do, it’s on targets that shouldn’t be in wvw to begin with.
your ego is appalling and unsightly, i’d suggest losing it, until you have a reason to have one; rather than just spilling random terminology that still doesnt add up to proper numbers on a real 80 target without rigging the shot.

is the OP a noob, or have they just not seen a d/d elementalist, GS ranger, or mesmer before?
thief is FAR from the most mobile thing in the game, and have nowhere near the survival or ability to shrug off damage like the three above. if you were too incompetent in catching one, it’s your own fault, not the game’s balance; considering there are far more broken builds out there
So lets add this up, shadow return removes 3 conditions, teleports you back to where you started from up to 1,200 away, and breaks stun instantly. Hide in Shadows removes all damaging conditions, so any conditions that hurt would be gone and the thief is far away stealthed and running away.
I really don’t know what more I could have done. I condition stacked, immobilized, stunned, and generally wrecked his face but he gets a get out of jail free card. I mean ya I wrecked his face because he was blatantly terrible (rocket turret knockdown is MASSIVELY telegraphed), but he still doesn’t even have to die for being terrible.
as a thief, i cant help but feel offended that you could even remotely accuse them of having unfair GOOJF cards. try d/d ele, or rangers, with their easy access to boons, their uptime, and ridiculous mobility. i get beyond tired of the bad ones just zooming away across the map with their stupid bullkitten, try throwing a fit on a board for one of the actual bullkitten classes.
give us 5$ gem purchase options, please. id like to be able to make small purchases when i get the spare income. simple as that.
heres a lil clip. only a small one as im making a 15 min video but waiting to stockpile enough footage. d/d is fun but it cant do wghat p/d or d/p can do. :P
you wouldnt happen to be on dragonbrand would you? seeing FA and TC..
i didnt say out damage them, i said still doing great damage. i out live any of those glass cannon clowns
in CoF1 and beyond, dp 0 30 30 10 0, valk gear, zerker accessories. live longer than those glass cannon morons, and do great damage still! that is all.
hows my build looking? this is my current gear, and wvw/spvp set up, running 0 30 30 10 0 d/p (for squishies) + s/d (for bunker/cd builds with 213123 boons).
utilities: blinding powder, shadowstep, 25% movement signet, thieves guild
thanks for the help/advice, any sendings in a direction for more efficiency would be great.
I think RtL in its current form is a good compromise: For its intended use it hasn’t been nerfed at all (I’ll consider the range a fix, not a nerf) and if you misuse RtL as escape tool, you suffer a high cooldown which is actually in the range of other emergency cooldowns.
Other “emergency” cooldowns on other professions are utility skills. Most other professions movement skills on the weapons are in the 10 to 15 second CD range, no dual CD and no stipulations on how it is used (offensive or defensive).
Every other profession has either more health, more armor, a combination of both, or extra defensive attributes built in (stealth, death shroud, etc.) that give those professions survivabiltity, especially in melee. The D/D Ele is now a class with abysmal mobility, low damage, and the worst armor and health in the game.
How is that compromise?
you severely exaggerate. its kind of annoying
The time we spent on ele I have to say doesn’t matter. the fact is this is a game with PvP changes in the meta are to be expected. You may feel bad or cheated but know its part of the game.
I agree with pretty much everything you said. I only cited the time I’ve spent on my ele to point out that I know what i’m talking about when I say that 1v2 is rare with a d/d ele, and people have a false idea about how awesome the d/d is. I have enjoyed my time very much as an ele and I don’t feel cheated at all.
this forum is like a whole new level of embarrassing, one slight nerf to a build that had way too much going for it did not kill your class. if a slight nerf “killed” it for you, you have no business playing said class, as you never really liked it to begin with.
admit it, if it was “killed,” you’re just another bandwagoner with just a desire to beat people in the easiest, quickest manner; frankly, it’s kind of pathetic.
*Sigh, i’ll bite. First, to be fair, its not one slight nerf, its been a series of medium nerfs. Second, as I explained above, our class did not have “way too much going for it” in the first place. The d/d was tough to kill and that’s about it. Third, I don’t see many people claiming that the ele has been “killed.” This is a thread about how to adapt to the nerf. And many of us are not bandwagoners, we picked ele at launch without knowing anything about it because we like playing mages with AoE. Finally, speaking of pathetic, like most other critics here you are not even an ele, you are an uninformed troll. What’s the matter? Were a few ele’s able to escape from you thief? Come back when you’ve rolled an ele. I think you’ll agree that the hype is unwarranted.
this isnt an adaptation thread, the majority of the thread is whiny little bandwagon eles complaining their OP faceroll build got nerfed

you’re pretty pathetic if you think your class is dead just because they put it in it’s place. dumb bunker builds healing right through my damage and getting away from what should be kills is ridiculous. and then to top off the cherry on the kitten pie, they can burst me down just as fast? you deserve to be nerfed.
adapt, and learn to play, rather than hopping on a bandwagon just because it’s stupid strong.
i was hoping for something that isnt just a cookie cutter 20 30 20
im looking for a mix of decent burst + decent hp to act as a buffer as i get better for solo/small party wvw groups. i plan on using d/p + sb, with traits for keeping init as full as possible, while still trying to maintain decent burst, link is what i came up with.
feel free to link changes and refinement, its greatly appreciated.
OP is the second coming of einstein
where can i pick one of those up for halloween?
in all seriousness, very creative, original idea a-net. i thought google maps’ idea last year with dragon warrior was cool, but this took that and stepped it up to 11. good job.
title, PVE (mostly)/dungeon based warrior w/ GS and longbow.
i dont know much about warrior, but i wanted to try one out. i liked GS/long bow as they felt really good together, using the AOE might from the LB burst + LB 3 + FGJ + signet of might active -> hundred blades. huge veteran burst in my low levels.
anyways, looking at the traits, i thought these would work best:
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fIEQJARTjcOJv5OOPMxCEsATBj4ogKYC9h5Ip4MGQA;T4AA2ynEOJdS9kyJqsMZJyymlLLZWLCGiA
i’d like to be able to survive, while maintaining decent burst, so i thought
-soldier runes
-knight armor
-berserker accessories
-rubies in accessories.
-sigil of battle in GS
-sigil of accuracy in LB
thanks for any advice, tips, or refinement to the build you can offer, as id love to learn to make something that could just destroy pve/dungeons.
how is guardian vs warrior
i cant seem to decide what to make. i’d like something that can pvp well, yet can put down monsters at an efficient rate. something that can take hits, and isnt mesmer or ranger; i have those maxed.
being able to switch between melee and ranged would help too. thanks for the help
I’m mostly talking about limitations on ranger traps, engie mines, minions, turrets.
Main issue is that they don’t deal enough damage / die too quickly with is pretty much: “we did it so people stop asking for them, but we don’t want players to actually use them, because it would require balancing”. Mines especially feel like new Smite Boon.Feels like if they really wanted to give us fun abilities to fight opponents with, but some Morello-like guy walked in and said “no fun allowed”.
Someone ever played original gw1? Trap ranger was actually viable build and it was really fun to play. Same for spirit and minion builds.
I think it’s really big loss to the game if all combat is limited to face-to-face combat.
My second point would be knockbacks:
This is small one – why we can’t utilize fall dmg against mobs? At least normal ones. This game isn’t designed to be hard as nails, why are we denied ability to knock things off cliffs?
the irony is, i bet OP doesnt even realize morello worked for anet on GW1 and while GW2 was still in development
Yo,
from Appleton
i goto lawrence :V.
if thief needs balance in PVP, nerf it in pvp only. it seems silly to take their damage down without compensating in PVE, as you only make life harder for them in such. especially the pistol whip nerf, it makes absolutely no sense to hurt it’s pve values and not compensate for it.
AKA you tried a class, didnt like it, and felt the need to complain instead of getting on with your life.
FFXI is a japanese game, and a nice title at that. nothing will be the same, there will not be tanking ninjas, and MF thieves, and boss soloing mages.
this is GW. move on.
