For the last 3 days, the game has been constantly freezing for me and I keep getting “Guild Wars 2 is not responding”.
I re-installed windows, updated to windows 8.1 pro with the latest drivers and tried again. The same thing keeps happening when playing.
I checked both my GPU and CPU and it is not related to any overheating issue.
I used to be able to play the game before without any problems.
I tried to repair the game, yet during the repairing process, it gets stuck and says “not responding” as well.
Other games are running fine for me without problems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I played 4 games yesterday, won all of them and It seems that 3 of them are on the leaderboards. Did I queue one unranked or what :O. It would be great to check that.

Don’t forget the amount of games where you get stuck in 4v5 matches….
I had 4 4v5 matches in like 15 games…. so y not fun

Honestly, I would say the only player who has a right to complain objectively is one who has seen your company/resources to know that you guys are doing all you can. Since that is not practical, every complaint in the forum has to be taken with a grain of salt
I barely come to read the forums as they are full of people whining….(which basically doesn’t help).
I personally enjoy everything about gw2. I will not deny that spvp needs more work but I am pretty sure that this is on the way

From experiance as you get to the later maps they need you to rely on one of 2 things:
1 – Playing in groups.
This is the first thing that crossed my mind the moment I saw it.
Whenever I try to play in high level areas, It seems kinda hard to move since the area is filled with mobs , where if 1 of them gets aggro, like 3 more come to attack, and their damage seems ridiculous especially with all the knockdowns they do.
Is it only me whose experiencing this?
1. Duels.
2. New game Modes.
3. More Build Variety
I love gw2 , I feel the game has something unique to it , but I have to agree with you Pexx.

Don’t know what you guys are whining about. This patch is actually pretty good. Leaderboards in, just gotta wait a week for visibility. Nerfs to both quickness and stealth reveal timer, evidence of custom arena coming very soon, PvP gear at too. Select and fixes to the 4v5 issue in tournaments.

Would it be possible for one of the developers to let us know what should we expect from the upcoming update apart from the WvW and balance changes?
My biggest issue with pvp is that there is really no incentive to play.
After watching SotG, I highly doubt that we will have any new features coming with this update. However, I would really appreciate if one of the developers would give us a final word about what should be expected.

Hey all, hope you guys had a great break!
There are so many things to talk about, so instead of quoting individual people, I’ll just make a post outlining things that people have mentioned.
New features: As I said in the Guru state of the game, January won’t see any big updates. Everyone is getting back from vacation, so it’s a small patch. We’ll see bigger updates in later patches, etc.
I plan to write out a full blog for these features as they’re closer to being ready. But I can give a few details now:
- Custom Arenas. This is still our top priority for the time being, as it allows the playerbase to do so many things. You guys can set maps up in the ways that you want, and it you can set up your own servers to allow you to practice with your friends. It also allows custom tournaments, etc. It just gives you guys a lot of control over the game, so we’re pushing hard on it.
- Ratings/matchmaking/leaderboards. These are being worked on. I’ll give more details on this later, but quickly: We will be using our MM (matchmaking) system to match teams up against one another. Each player has their own rating, and these ratings are used when 2 teams are fighting one another. MM obviously won’t be used in public matches (because people are jumping in/out all the time), and instead will be used in tournament formats. We will be using the MM system in the background as you play, and then we will be showing player ranks via our official leaderboards. These leaderboards will show things like player ranks, wins, losses, qualyfing points, etc.
- New player experience/teaching the game better. We want players of all experience levels to enjoy the game, not just the hardcore. We’ll talk more about this stuff later, but we want to make sure all players enjoy the game. Custom Arenas will help here as well, because players can find arenas where they feel comfortable, and play the game with the same players every day while they learn the game, etc.
- 1 team vs. 1 team. Like with other things, I was going to do a more robust blog on this later, but we are doing this. We will be testing out Temple of the Silent Storm for tournament rotation play by doing a 1 team vs. 1 team setup (as opposed to the 8 team setup we use in tournaments). This will mean only two teams play, one wins, one loses. It will cost less to enter these 1on1 matchups than tournaments, but rewards will also be scaled down. You won’t have to go multiple rounds, and once a match is over, both teams can jump right back into the pool. So overall, compared to tournaments, it will have less rewards, but it’s quicker to play and easier to get into/out of. We’ll be testing this system in the near future to see how it works, and if feedback is positive, we may look at trying to incorporate the 1on1 format into PvP. We know that free tournaments are going almost all the time, but we recognize that paid tournaments are having some issues right now, so have been listening to you and have made plans to improve the experience. You guys have made some great suggestions, and a lot of your ideas are in alignment with the things propounded in our internal meetings. So thank you for all your passion and suggestions!
That’s all I can say for now on that stuff for now. I’ll try to jump back in this thread during the week as time allows.

I do not understand why a lot are being so negative with their posts. It is not like they say they will do it and it is ready the next day.
Yes he wrote before talking about this , but do you like really expect it to be ready in a day or two ?
Implementing something is not done over the course of a night. They do not want to release something unless it is completely working as intended. A lot may come and say they are running out of time , but seriously , if you are not happy with the game , just quit. We do not need more negative posts .
I appreciate what the developers are trying to do, and I would rather wait and have fully working features , than have them tomorrow and not working as intended.

Probably a silly question , though the wool we collect stays through all of wintersday , is this correct?
Title says it all an 8 second cd for what it breaks is out of line with other abilities.
I do not get why this spell is annoying you. There are way more op spells that need to be
fixed. I play a mesmer myself. Moa Morph is Op even tho it has a long cd and can be dodged.
Also memsers are more of a damage class , not tanky . Their survivability is already bad.
Actually , I have to agree that the problem seems to be toughness .
I get 7k+ hit by backstab with 2300 toughness ! How is this normal ?
Thieves damage is just a joke .
As far as I’m concerned, MMOs are supposed to have progression. We start small and we build up with mostly everything we do. We level up to reach new zones with new content as well as new dungeons. We skill up professions in order to craft better items. Even World vs. World has some kind of purpose, that is gaining useful “boons”. So far, the sPvP does seem kind of useless, aside from being fun. It reminds more of some FPS multiplayers than any MMO PvP I’ve seen. Let’s say its purpose WAS glory and ranks – ok. But what do they mean other than “feeling better about myself”? Higher ranked players don’t seem separated from lower-ranked players, higher-ranked people don’t get much benefits from being a higher rank. And the gear? To me personally, looks aren’t everything, I’d like to know I have a real good goal by PvP-ing, more importantly I’d like to actually be rewarded for being good in PvP – with something that makes me more powerful. But let’s assume I’m fine with the current gear progression – what good does it do for me? I can’t wear that gear anywhere, but in sPvP, tPvP and the Mists. Frankly, when I join the Mists, I feel as if I just closed Guild Wars 2 and opened a completely different game, because what I do there is totally separated from the rest of GW2 world. “What happens in the Mists, stays in the Mists” kind of concept.
My suggestion is that PvP be separated into brackets (rankwise). Like, players from ranks 1-10 in one bracket, 11-20 in another and so on. As for rewards, keep the good looking gear and chests, but add upgrades to sigils and runes maybe?
As much as I’d like to agree with Sezu about “Games used to be about having fun, at least that’s why I play them.” I can’t. You have to understand that there’s a very thick line separating fun casual games and MMOs. MMOs are made to constantly keep a person busy, they are made to be played for hundreds of days of played time, unlike other games that have a span of 20-40 hours. As such, they should have a meaningful progression that makes a player feel like the time he/she spent playing was for something.
That is of course my own opinion. Much respect for all fellow players and ArenaNET. Salute.

I really don’t get it . The game is only a month out and yet the team is trying the best to fix/balance the game as well as try to implement new features.
I would , just like everyone else there to have Ladders/Spectator mode/Duels/Arenas , but lets wait . I am sure all of this will be implemented and hopefully will not take a long time.
