Still looking for a guild.
The aspects were okay and fun in the Bazaar, but in an open world map? I don’t like this idea at all.
Are there any traits you guys recommend for this fight? I don’t have too many so far and i thought maybe they could help…
My Norn Necromancer. She had a more strict, more “classy” outfit for a while and i wanted to change things over a bit. Probably until i get a better armor she will wear this.
I only have one armor, which is Berzerker Gear, with the superior pirate runes right now (the parrot one). I can’t afford too costy runes, so i thought i’d try this one for now.
I’m going axe/warhorn – staff, or axe/dagger – staff most of the time, picking the well that blinds (instakill on the blind clones, without damaging me), the signet that gives movement speed and the well that cures conditions and i also tried many varieties of utilities, but the signet of spite also seemed to work instead of the condition curing well.
As for ult, i’m trying Lich Form, which seems to work well once i get to that state, but i always just run out of enough energy to dodge and i die in the end.
I’m using the food that gives +30% to endurance regeneration and might on dodge, but even with that, it’s pretty hard and sooner or later i get hit by either the shadows (blind well is on cd) or the AoE :/
I’ve struggled multiple hours with Liadri now. I’m just about to give it up soon… I just can’t do it. I got her down to 15% of her HP two times and that was the closest i got. It’s just so annoying.
Well hello everyone,
I’ve been in multiple guilds by now, but all of them had some kind of problems. The original guild i was in not long after launch was pretty fun and i liked most things about it. The problem is that i stopped playing for more than a year and when i came back to the game almost a month ago from now, the old guild disbanded.
Since then i was in a bigger guild, which had a TS reqruiment and i don’t use TS. The guild chat was totally quiet because they kept talking in TS with eachother. It’s hard to join in a new community, where everyone knows eachother already…
Currently i’m in a pretty small and not too active guild, but i’m looking for something else… I’m looking for a guild that does not force TS (or does not even use it), has a guild chat that is alive most of the time with chatting about random things or the game, ect. It should be a friendly guild as well, not an elite one that kicks anyone who does not do exactly as told.
As for me: I’m 19 years old and i’ve played GW1 for 2 years straight, i only just started again with GW2 recently, but i have a lvl80 character already. Nowadays i’m doing fractals or just fooling around in towns/exploring the areas of the game. I’m up for any kind of content though, with the exception of WvW, since my computer can’t handle zergs.
Are you asking if you should be worried about dying?
He did give you incorrect information, you should not expect to die if you don’t stack.I believe his intention is that he wishes to go toe to toe with content kinda like how there’s a lot of people in say Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 that pride themselves on doing boss kills solo, level 1 playthroughs, without circle strafe abuse or glitching out AI, or gamers that pride themselves on pure skill Dante Must Die Difficulty in the older Devil May Cry games, or something more relevant would be beating The Witcher or The Witcher 2 on dark difficulty or hardcore without Alchemy.
Power Gamers.
I’m not even sure what you guys are going on about.
All i was talking about is stacking makes killing bosses easier (and look dumber doing so, all players being stuck in a corner on top of eachother).
As for the other arguments about “why would you stay far from your team, not wanting boons”, i’m not even sure why is that brought up, as i never said anything like that. It has no benefit to stay further from eachother while killing a boss, but at the same time there is a difference between staying near eachother during the fight, or standing on top of eachother in a small corner with the boss stuck in there. That’s dumb. This is my point.
I don’t care that it makes it easier to kill the boss, it looks dumb and for me it makes it feel less rewarding to kill that boss. That’s all what i’m saying and so i will never play in groups that tend to do this “stuck in a corner stacking” thing.
IllegalChocolate is the only one who understood what i was talking about.
I’ve just recently had an argument with a person in a dungeon about that i’m not willing to stack and i want to fight the way it was meant to be. He kept on going about it how stacking is superior than simply fighting and that i’m stupid because i don’t stack and i will die later on when i face tougher enemies.
What is your opinion on this matter? To stack or not to stack?
I actually like the T3 one… it’s just terribly expensive.
After reading through all these comments, i’m not sure who was the one talking about how it’s not a grind of you really want the Legendary: Yes, it is a grind. No matter what you say or how you think about getting that weapon, it will still cost the same and it will still take long to get it.
Then reevaluate your priorities. Honestly, it’s a broken record. If it’s something you really want, it won’t be a grind. It won’t happen in a day – but it’ll be about two or three months at least if you manage what you currently have. The road to a Precursor can be a grind but that’s crappy RNG which has been debated for a while.
If you really don’t have the time to manage that, I fail to see why you’re complaining. Seems like you should just uninstall the game because obviously your life is so full that any amount of timely effort is beneath you.
I see someone is upset, just don’t know why. Did you really expect everyone to say “Ooohh you have a Legendary, you are awesome!!44!” ?
My point still stands: It won’t change anything about the way to acquire the needed mats/items if you really want that weapon. It just won’t. It’s still considered a grind, especially when Legendaries are not even special anymore, since a lot of people run around with them.
Also, complaining? Where did i complain? I reacted to your dumb comments, which failed to make any sense so far, and you just outright failed to understand my own comments. Please, just try to get yourself in a better shape, or just don’t even post.

if you don’t think about it, and just enjoy the game everyday, just playing the game and actually doing something and not screwing around in town, you’ll eventually get it.
Oh please, screwing around in town is not doing something for you? That must be sad. I guess you are one of those people who only play for gold.
Just try to lighten up sometimes and look around the world, just having fun with others. But that’s just a tip.
getting a legendary is the only thing that keeps me playing this game, hopefull this friday my server will be blue in wvw and ill get all map.
Pve is not enjoyfull at least not for me since I only think in getting gold for my legend and that keeps me from enjoying pve,in order to get the gold/ectos i need to dedicate my time for 6 dungen runs daily, fractals was cool at first, after 2 times is annoying and boring, and after +100 is disgusting, and u have the sensation that the game forces u to do the same annoying dungen again and again and again till u cant take it anymore.
Probably after I get sunrise will go back playing lol or warthunder. With the lineageIII and more mmos coming, dont think gw2 will have any future in this state, the the gems store is good and i like it since it dosent have any p2w items and you can easy get 100 gold and buy a suit or anything u want.
That’s exactly what i was talking about. It kills any enjoyment of the game for people like this.
Summary of this thread:
“I don’t have a legendary and don’t want to grind for it, so I think it’s silly to get one and I can enjoy the game without getting this shiny I want to get”
Or
“I have a legendary and it’s no big deal, even though when I didn’t have one I was desperate to get one.
So, what new did you actually say with this comment? Nothing? Okay.
(edited by LittleZoe.4970)
I had an Ele and a Mesmer already and when i wanted to get back into the game with a new character Necro stood out for me. I always liked “dark” characters and i can somewhat relate to her at least, not like my Ele or Mesmer.
When it comes down to it, it’s just a very pretty weapon skin.
“I can’t afford a legendary, therefore I don’t need one”
Pffft, nobody “needs” one. It’s a question of whether the colossal amount of time and effort it takes is actually worth the result. Would I like to have a legendary? Sure, they are cool, who wouldn’t like one. But I can’t think of any one thing they could realistically put in the game that would be worth the grinding/RNG/monotony/frustration we are talking about here.
Exactly what i thought when i read that reply.
Don’t get a Legendary for the sake of having a Legendary – get a Legendary that you love, cherish and truly want. It will take away the “grindy” feeling.
Except that’s totally not true. Even if you truly want a Legendary, it will still be grindy to get it.
Which region and what timezone do you play in?
Europe, timezone pretty much does not matter, as i don’t have a set schedule of sleep/uptime. Sometimes i’m up at night, sometimes i’m not.
I just started out with fractals some days ago and completed it fully one time so far (of 3 tries). I tried to do it with pugs, since my guild barely has active members and i don’t know too many people in the game, as i haven’t been playing for more than a year.
Anyway, i have faced such problems that just made me go “what the hell?”.
The first time i actually managed to get a nice group and even while we died on the boss multiple times, we could finish it and it was pretty fun. Even more fun than my dungeon experiences so far. I wanted more.
So i grouped up yesterday for my second fractal ever. It was lvl2, nothing special. I got 4 random players and we started. It was the swamp fractal, with the whisps. That’s when the nonsense started: We tried 10 times, but failed to pass the swamp. Out of 4 players only one understood what to do, so both me and him explained it to the others, so they can keep up and do it. BUT that wasn’t enough… i can’t even imagine how, but they couldn’t understand a simple concept like that whisp “event”. They kept failing and after 10 tries one of our guys left, then i decided it’s over: when a group can’t get past one of the easiest fractals, it will get worse later.
So i tried again, got another group and luckily we got a simple “kill these things” level, so they couldn’t possibly fail. Then one random guy left after the first map, another one went afk and got kicked, so we had to give up before the Colossus.
That was my experiences with PUG Fractals so far. I’m seeing a common pattern here with multiple problems, just not sure what to do. You could say “play with your guild or your friends!”, but as i said, i can’t do that.
Any suggestions maybe other than this?
Just a tip: I’m using a bleeding sigil (not sure of the exact name) on my Axe as a Necro. The axe’s autoattacks give vulnerability to the target and with this sigil it gives bleed to the enemy on crits as well. Pretty good combo and i can get up to 6-8 stacks of bleed easily just with autoattacks and crits without actually trying hard to do it. Then you can get the other bleed spells and make it higher.
So, i have been stocking up on mats needed to craft Frostfang for a while now. I thought to myself “i will slowly gather these and when i finally get enough gold to get the other parts needed, i will have most of the mats already, that will be fun!”.
Then when i was playing yesterday, i turned into a Snow Leopard with a tonic, then kept fooling around with 2 other people in a town for half an hour, smiling and laughing all along, having way more fun than actually thinking about having a really really expensive weapon.
That was the moment when i realized why it’s so pointless to “grind” for Legendaries. The game does not get more fun just because i have one. I imagine it to be like the main story of Skyrim… once i completed it, i lost 60% of my motivation to do anything else in the world, since it did not feel threatened anymore and i haven’t even got proper “cheering” for it, just a oneliner of a thanks, exactly like for saving a random farmer’s chicken.
That’s how i imagine Legendaries. I would get it finally, after months, hell maybe a year, then there it is. It sits in my inventory or in my characters hands, i run around with the effects for 5 minutes, then realize that nothing has changed and nobody cares… and they are right, why should they?
What do you guys most enjoy in the game? Do you actually want a Legendary and if so, why?
Get used to it. People don’t do the dungeon cause they enjoy it. They do it just for the gold behind it.
You will run, skip and spam 1 on white globes full of colored light that hides 5 players and a boss in it.
I’m not even sure why people like you keep commenting. It’s obvious that you guys don’t understand that not everyone plays for the same reasons and not everyone takes the game as a “MUST STRUGGLE FOR GOLDZ!44!!” and actually play it because they enjoy it.
Goodbye then…
Again: I haven’t even talked about skipping, that was just brought up by people like you.
So a Norn chest is almost as big as me, that’s scary.
I got a bunch of those in BB… sold all of them for a lot.
All these weird measures make no sense. Can’t contribute to thread, error.
Sounds a bit too usual, but the Soran part does not fit a necro in my opinion. 4/10
Zoe Clawstorm.
Well i got all the way to Liadri now, but i couldn’t kill her yet. I got all the other achievements except her’s and the gambit ones.
Seems like using Lichform is not a good idea against Liadri, because i need all the movement i can get.
I’m pretty sure Bank and TP NPCs will never appear in the home instance for a simple reason: That way a lot of people would never leave their home instance and cities would be less populated.
I did not say anything about killing everything by the way. I just asked for players to slow down :P
Thank you.
Well, i got the highest DPS with the Lich Form, because when i use my weapons skills she can just throw me around easily and i can’t do as much damage as with my elite. But the problem is that even in Lich Form i keep getting damaged and when i transform back to my normal form, i barely have hp left. But i think i’ll try going there with full lifeforce bar, turn into Lich and when it’s over just use my shroud until i can, then my normal weapon skills.
For Masticus: I picked up an orb like that but for some reason i thought it’s not a good thing for me, as i thought i read something about “decreased xy”. But i’ll try that again.
Why is that some of my cooking ingredients don’t show up in the experiment window at all? Does it mean that they have simply no more unknown recipes to be used with? Or what is the reason for this? Since i have a lot of red ingredients in that window that i can’t use yet, but they are still there… and then there are ones that just don’t even show up, even while they are in my inventory or bank.
Okay, so i finally reached lvl80 (but not all my equipment is on max, i’m working on it). I’m struggling with the Kialdra achievement now. I need to kill her while i’m on fire, but i just can’t do it. Any tips for that fight?
I killed her originally with Lich Form, but with this gambit i lose hp too fast.
Also there is that boar or something in the tier 2 enemies, what should a necro do against that? I could barely scratch his hp.
It’s not so bad. I usually write “Story Mode – Watching Cutscenes”, and that’s that.
I did not even think about that, hah, thanks. I will try that next time.
I’m not sure whether that was an honest reply or sarcasm.
It was a honest reply. I just did not think about something that simple to begin with.
It’s not so bad. I usually write “Story Mode – Watching Cutscenes”, and that’s that.

I get it, everyone has played every single dungeon 100 times already and it’s boring for them, but how should i play it like it was meant to be played, if i can’t find anybody who wants to do the same?
Assuming you don’t have friends or guild mates to join you, try posting some creative LFGs. Specify ‘First timer’ in the listing, and chat a little with the people who join, make sure they’re on the same page.
I’ve seen a few listings like that, you’re not alone.
Since i’ve not been playing for more than a year, i don’t have my old guild and people i got to know in the game are not playing anymore. I joined a new guild not a long time ago, but i already quit because of the ts requirement and the constantly silent chat.
Also, it’s not too easy to get people for Story Mode anyway… i have to sit there for a while until i can get 4 other people for it. So if i would start chatting with each of them, it would take triple as much time to find the people who won’t rush…
Little backstory: I started playing the game early on, some months after release. Then i stopped for more than a year or so. Back then i haven’t played any dungeon other than Ascalonian Catacombs, and even that just once.
Now i’m back to the game since like almost two weeks or so, new character and all. I played AC and the Manor in Story Mode and i’m seeing a pattern that i really don’t like:
People tend to run through the dungeons like their life matters on it. I get it that in explorables that’s the way to do it for some, finish it as fast as they can, so they get more rewards, ect… But when i specifically ask for Story Mode, i would like to enjoy it and not be constantly fustrated that i can’t sit through the cinematics without worrying that my teammates will go on without me.
I try to figure out the backstory behind the dungeons and i get mostly what they are about, but i wanted to see every little aspect of them, not just the general idea… and i’m not able to do that, because other players will immediately run off every single time.
I get it, everyone has played every single dungeon 100 times already and it’s boring for them, but how should i play it like it was meant to be played, if i can’t find anybody who wants to do the same?
Why did you even move to LA if you live in EU? I just can’t understand your way of thinking.
You really did not think that it will give you lag?
Well… if you can’t achieve it in real life… i guess this is also something.
Thanks for the answers. I tried again today (i’m like lvl48 or something now) and i beat both Halmi and the second enemy… but the second i barely beat. But since then i upgraded most of my clothes and weapons, so i should probably be able to kill the third one next
I don’t fully agree with the second point. I tried finding players to help me with the achievements and all three times all i got was no response and a whole lot of AFKers in the middle.
That does not mean i would pull vets into the group, i had to pass on the achievements and get different ones instead not related to Boss Blitz.
Okay, i guess i missed some details here: I’m not dumb not to understand the basics of the game or just this simple fight. I realized how Halmi handles the combat and he couldn’t kill me with his swing anytime. My problem was that i couldn’t deal enough damage and ran out of time. He basically had like 5% of his health every single time i tried to defeat him, then my time ran out.
But now i’m lvl39 already, so i will give it another try.
Is there a problem with my character’s level? I’m just lvl33… but the last time i tried the Gaunlet i was 29. Maybe it’s just impossible to do it on low levels like this? I know there is upscaling and all… but items and skills/traits are behind that of real 80 players.
Edit: I’m playing a necro btw.
(edited by LittleZoe.4970)
Well currently i’m on Piken Square and i don’t have a guild. Maybe if i would get a guild that would get more people around me? Does that really work that way?
Is it just me or there are really not much people in these areas? I started the game again 2 days ago, after a more than 1 year long break on my part… and when i started the game (in a different area, but still) it was all filled with people everywhere.
Now there is this “megaserver” thing and i still see less people than before… what’s wrong?
I just checked both emails I received from GW2 about the Halloween event and it says this in the first email..
“From 23 October until 2 November (European dates), Halloween goes off the rails, and you’re exactly the right person to fix it.”
This is from the second email..
“From October 22, 2012 until November 1, 2012, Halloween goes off the rails, and you’re exactly the right person to fix it.”
So for us Europeans, we won’t be getting it until tomorrow anyway.
I suspected at first that they just mistyped the date and sent the second email because of that… but if it really says (European dates) then maybe we will really only get it on the 23rd…
I wonder about this too…. i haven’t played GW since almost 2 weeks now because of a bit of burnout…. but i want to check in for Halloween…
If you want some hints on how to stop bots.. You all have my email and you can reach out to me.. Hell I am begging you to reach out to me so we can fix this and this can be a game I can continue to enjoy.
I can tell you how to stop em dead in their tracks. I have first hand knowledge how bots work.. why.. because I used to make my own.
Watch out, we have a kitten over here…
New Undetected Form Of Botting Has The Potential To Crash The GW2 Economy

I’ve seen a bot like this weeks ago already. He did the exact same “teleporting” or “warping” around thing. He kept attacking the air (with one sword, and he had a shield) constantly and when an enemy came into a certain distance, he just teleported to it and kept attacking until it was dead. Then the bot kept attacking the air and so on…
I reported it for botting immediately after i watched what he is doing.
